Introduction:

The sequel to one of the fan favourite Tekken games and one of the best fighting games to date is here! A direct sequel to the non-canon entry to the Tekken franchise, Tekken Tag Tournament, which saw a release in arcades and home consoles over 10 years ago, this game improves vastly over the predecessor via the fighting system engine, the content, and one of the most notable differences - the fluidity.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZhpvvF0xxQ]TEKKEN TAG TOURNAMENT 2 - Switch Trailer - YouTube[/ame]

As for the trophies, they are generally the same as both Tekken 6 and Tekken Tag Tournament HD in terms of trophy requirements, with a few odd ones here and there. One or two will require a bit of grinding both online and offline for titles in the game’s unique grading system, which is detailed in their respective trophies. Note that you'll need an online pass if you bought your game second hand, which is available on the store for purchase. If you already have the online pass, simple type in the code after selecting the Online Mode option in the main menu. Thankfully, this works across all of your accounts, i.e. you won't need to buy another pass for another account.

As with many fighting games, there are trophies scattered across all the different fighting modes and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is no exception. You can follow the roadmap in whatever order you wish; I’m simply listing the way I found the fastest and easiest.

I - Training Mode

Whether you’re a new player of the game, franchise or even genre, head into Training Mode and test out the roster. Pick a fighter and stick with them, try out the combos and get used to the style of 3D fighting. After dishing out enough damage, you’ll earn the sole trophy for this mode. After this short step, you will unlock:

(B)

Lead Coach

II - Arcade Mode

Now that you’ve tested out the game and have become relatively acquainted with the game’s system and controls, it’s time to step into the world of Tekken and enjoy eight rounds of tag team fighting. First, run through it solo, then run through it in a tag team. The latter should be exceptionally easier as you’ll know what to expect. After all your Arcade Mode playthroughs, you will then unlock:

(B)

Solo Warrior

(B)
Pre-eminent Partner

III - The Multiple Extra Offline Modes

Time to clean up on the offline trophies before we move onto the miscellaneous midst-battle trophies. These offline modes include Survival, Team Battle, Arcade Mode Time Attack, Fight Lab, Practice Mode (if you skipped or missed it in Step I), etc.

Check under their respective trophies for much more details, strategies and more.

After all of the Offline Modes are done and dusted, you will have picked up:

(B)

Tenacious Fighter

(B)
Super-Speed Fists

(S)
Proof of Your Existence

(B)
Who Ya Gonna Call?

(B)
Combot, On Standby!

(B)
Combot, Move Out!

(B)
Combot, Engage!

(B)
Combot, Annihilate!

(S)
Combot, Return to Base!

(G)
Super Combot DX Complete

By now you should also have unlocked:

(S)
Bazillionaire

IV - Offline Grind

Let’s grind for the titles. You’re going to need to earn the ranks of Vanquisher and finally Tekken Lord. These will require a few hours worth of Ghost Battle grinding; it won’t help with the CPU getting harder after every rank-up. Don’t worry if the tension of the battle gets to you, simply dabble in collecting trophies in later steps and return here with a fresh mind. Soon enough, the grind will be all over and you'll unlock your well-deserved trophies:

(S)

Enter the Vanquisher!

(G)
Behold the Tekken Lord!

During the grind, you’ll also most likely unlock:

(S)

Movie Buff

V - Online Miscellaneous Trophies

This step isn’t as hard as you may automatically think and really you’re only dipping your toes into the multiple modes of Tekken Tag Tournament 2’s Online Mode. The minor grind of the Online Mode will come right after; you’ll only be going to 1st Dan, so you won’t be too long online.

Note for boosting:

Many fighting games have trophies which can easily be boosted online for those who don’t have 2 controllers however with the time limit, possibly a lack of headsets, and needing to get online at the same time as your boosting partner it will take a lot of preparatory work and inputting buttons before the time limit finishes. It is simply easier to boost offline with 2 controllers for maximum efficiency, speed and the least effort. If this simply isn’t an option, though, feel free to sign up to the Tekken Tag Tournament 2 ~ Boosting Thread. After your short time online, the following trophies will have been unlocked:

(B)

Be Still My Iron Heart

(B)
Tug At My Iron Heart Strings

(B)
Iron Headache

(B)
Tekken Black Belt

VI - Clean-up

If you missed any trophies, it’s time to pick them up now. The grinds are over and soon enough, you’ll have another Platinum to add to your collection. Unfortunately if it didn't unlock during your Tekken Lord grind, you will need to unlock the final few endings for Movie Buff (check that trophy in regards to getting the endings). When all is done, the final trophies will have been earned:

(B)

Touch-Up Artist

(B)
Dance to Your Own Beat

(B)
PERFECT Player

(S)
GREAT Gladiator

(B)
Secret Weapon

(S)
Fortunate Fighter

(B)Escape Artist

(B)
Dish Best Served Cold

(B)
Stick It To ‘Em

(B)
Below the Belt

(B)
Oodles of Ukemi

(S)
Insane Juggler

(B)Flying Butt-Kicker

(B)
The Original Bouncer

(B)
Master of the Tag Combo

(B)
Master of the Tag Assault

(B)
Master of the Direct Tag Assault

(B)
Master of the Tag Throw

(B)
True Friendship

(S)
The Best of Friends

(S)
Impressive Moves

(S)
Fickle Friend

(B)
Watch Your Step

(B)
Renovation Time

(B)
Geronimo!

(B)
Avoid Flying Heads

(B)
Doused But Not Out

(B)
Bad Date

(P)
All Hail, Tekken Incarnate!

Conclusion:

Tekken once again fails to disappoint with the fantastic fighting engine that has kept this series alive, as well as hundreds of hours of replay value. It’s a sequel to a very much loved entry of the franchise, and if you decide to pick up this game on a trip to the store - you won’t be disappointed.

You earned 1st dan in Online Mode.

:psn:: PSN access required.

Tekken has a unique ranking system both offline and online, where winning matches will eventually allow you to rank up. When you fight against an opponent, a flashing indicator will tell you that you have the chance to rank up a level; winning will earn you the grade while losing will leave you at your present grade, and the chance of a rank up will then on be random.

For this trophy you must reach 1st Dan. It’ll only take a minimum of 15 wins (or 25~ losses) online to reach 1st Dan, and once you have it, you’ll be finished with the online modes of Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/F31.jpg Behold the Tekken Lord! (G)

You became Tekken Lord in Offline Mode.

Tekken Lord is a rank in the Tekken games (albeit nowhere near the highest) being 30th Dan, and getting there will be no easy feat. It's highly recommended that you grind out the titles in Ghost Battle.

Tekken has a unique ranking system both offline and online, where winning matches will eventually allow you to rank up a grade. When fighting in Endless Battle, Ghost Battle, etc., winning matches gives you a larger chance of a rank up; eventually, a flashing indicator before and during a match will tell you that you have a chance to rank up a level; winning will earn you the grade but losing will leave you at the present grade. Losing too often though will result in a possible rank down, so if you find yourself losing too often it might be a good idea to take a time out and train for a bit in Practice Mode before continuing. If you find yourself in a Rank Down situation and you’re losing in the battle, simply quit out of the battle, and then you can start the grinding again, and thankfully there are no penalties for doing this. Also note that each character is separate and their respective grade stays with them. Grades do not cross over with every character. Picking opponents of your rank or more preferably, higher, will help you speed up the system.

When going for the Tekken Lord title, it’s recommended that you stick with one character and master them - you’re most certainly going to have to when getting this title.

http://imageshack.us/a/img692/9228/tektextbr.png

Kazuya is a great all-around fighter as his attacks are top-tier yet balanced. Some noteworthy combos of Kazuya’s are:

  • :square: :square: :triangle: (pressed in quick succession)

Not only is this a move that takes a nice chunk of health off the opponent, but it is a quick and swift attack, knocking the enemy backwards. More complicated, yet stronger combos for Kazuya would include:

  • http://bit.ly/tPpHpa :square: :triangle:, (Optional: follow up with http://bit.ly/tPpHpa :triangle: to deal some extra damage while the opponent is down)

The trademark move of Kazuya and by far his strongest combo is the Lightning Screw Uppercut. It deals close enough to half a health bar and only has three inputs:

  • HOLD http://bit.ly/tPpHpa then hold :square: and :circle: together

Kazuya should spin around, with electric beams emanating from his hands, and will do a spinning uppercut, also similar to a Shoryuken from Street Fighter. This is the move to use in dire straits.

Below in the spoiler is a breakdown of what to expect for the Tekken Lord title.

[spoiler=12943]Tekken Lord Title:

When going for Tekken Lord, you must earn 30+ ranks. This’ll take a few hours worth of grinding and anything within the range of 150~300 matches (depending on your choice of opponent and their rank).

  • Beginner (入門生)
  • 9th - 1st Kyu (九級 - 一級)
  • 1st - 3rd Dan (初段 - 三段)

These are the first ranks and if you have some sort of hold on the combat system you should fly through this within 30~ minutes. The A.I is low on the defence and scarcely attacks so these ranks should pose no problems to beginners and will be child’s play for veterans.

  • 4th Dan: Disciple (高弟)
  • 5th Dan: Mentor (師範代)
  • 6th Dan: Master (免許皆伝)
  • 7th Dan: Grand Master (達人)

The A.I ups its game a bit here and may present a few tough combos especially if you find yourself up against top-tier fighters such as Forest or Marshall Law but all in all the A.I is only slightly upgraded.

  • 8th Dan: Brawler (餓狼)
  • 9th Dan: Marauder (猛虎)
  • 10th Dan: Fighter (獅子)
  • 11th Dan: Berserker (飛龍)

Just like the last batch of ranks you will find that the A.I can get quite brutal and you will need to properly start utilising your combos with your predetermined character in order to continue the ranking process.

  • 12th Dan: Warrior (剛拳)
  • 13th Dan: Avenger (狂拳)
  • 14th Dan: Duelist (烈拳)
  • 15th Dan: Pugilist (闘拳)
  • 16th Dan: Vanquisher (修羅)
  • 17th Dan: Destroyer (羅刹)
  • 18th Dan: Conqueror (羅漢)
  • 19th Dan: Savior (羅将)
  • 20th Dan: Genbu (玄武)

I treat this step of the Tekken Lord grind as a whole as it will all feel like the same A.I. You’ll need to have mastered your according character a fair amount and know a wide range of their combos to get a hold of this part; this can feel much longer than it needs to be as the A.I can be of a top-tier standards at times. Once you hit Vanquisher (修羅) you will have just tipped over the halfway mark and will earn the Enter the Vanquisher! trophy.

  • 21th Dan: Byakko (白虎)
  • 22th Dan: Seiryu (青龍)
  • 23th Dan: Suzaku (朱雀)
  • 24th Dan: Fujin (風神)
  • 25th Dan: Raijin (雷神)
  • 26th Dan: Yaksa (鬼神)
  • 27th Dan: Majin (魔神)
  • 28th Dan: Toshin (闘神)

This is the time where the recommended characters in the trophy Behold the Tekken Lord! And their combo recommendations will really come in handy. It’s only a short run now to the final trophy of the grind, but A.I will be a beast at times but you can easily avoid this by simply choosing the easiest option of the opponent select if the others are of the daunting type. Dabble in higher ranks to speed up the process.

  • 29th Dan: Emperor (拳主)
  • 30th Dan: Tekken Lord (鉄拳主)

The final two ranks, after bracing Byakko (白虎) to Toshin (闘神) will feel no different; your character will have been mastered and you should not find too many problems as long as you exploit the A.I and avoid the tough battles when you see them incoming. Once you hit Tekken Lord (拳主) you will have earned the last trophy of the grind.

Grind End:

In Tekken games the A.I is much easier considering this time you have two team members however how you utilise this advantage is key. Swapping out at the right times to let the second character patch up when you can carry on the work or to simply stall time as you wait to bring the primary back. If you get into the system of grinding you can go on to accomplish 100th Dan: True Tekken God - 真鉄拳神, as I’m sure all you Tekken Lords would be able to do. ;)

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/C44.jpg Preeminent Partner (B)

You cleared an Offline Mode arcade battle with a partner.

Play an Arcade Mode battle in a Tag Team (pick the TAG option at character select). Complete the arcade mode and the trophy is yours. You don’t need the partner to actually participate in the matches, remember. If all else fails, set the difficulty to Easy in the Options menu to make the game almost too simple for you. Also note that if you die, continuing does not affect the trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/D77.jpg Solo Warrior (B)

You cleared an Offline Mode arcade battle solo.

Play an Arcade Mode Battle solo (pick the SOLO option at character select). Complete the arcade mode and the trophy is yours. If all else fails, set the difficulty to Easy in the Options menu to make the game almost too easy for you. Also note that if you die, continuing does not affect the trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/A66.jpg Tenacious Fighter (B)

You won 3 team battles in Offline Mode.

Team Battle is one of Tekken Tag Tournament 2’s offline options. Taking the idea from its predecessor, the player chooses 8 or less fighters and keeps fighting in matches until eventually, all of the team has been knocked out. Winning three matches with a team of your choice will earn you the trophy. Picking rematch after a successful victory with your team does not affect the trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/166.jpg Super-Speed Fists (B)

You cleared Offline Mode Time Attack within 20 minutes.

Select Offline Mode Time Attack with your best team and fight your way through, defeating Unknown in the end. 20 minutes may seem like a lenient time limit however as the CPU gets progressively harder with which new players may find difficulty in the later stages. Simple practice is all that’s required, playing through a few rounds of Arcade Mode at your own pace should get you well acquainted with the idea of the mode.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/F08.jpg Proof of Your Existence (S)

You won 10 consecutive battles in Survival in Offline Mode.

Select Survival with your best fighters and do your best to survive the 10 rounds. For new players, Survival is basically what the name suggests - you must fight through matches with the same health, with small portions being re-added to the health bar after every win. For this reason it’d be best to play as characters you’ve become well-acquainted with. In case you’re having trouble, listed below are recommendations for beginners, and combos the player should learn because of their high strength and efficiency.

http://imageshack.us/a/img692/9228/tektextbr.png

Their movesets are almost identical and combos are easy to pull off, hence why they are recommended for those who‘d rather play it safe. These moves can take decent chunks of health (however may need a bit of practice first), for example:

  • http://bit.ly/t46CJt :circle: then quickly follow with :cross:, finally press :circle: and :cross: simultaneously rapidly

This is a combo which works for both Eddy and Christie, however if you want a more simple move or two which take noticeably smaller (but still rather efficient) bits of health, try these variations:

  • http://bit.ly/tPpHpa and press :circle: repeatedly

OR

  • http://bit.ly/tPpHpa and press :circle: repeatedly for about a second or two, then start pressing :cross: and :circle:

These movesets just might not work for you and you may just have to resort to spamming. If that's the case, simply choose a team of JACK-6 and P. JACK and spam the move http://bit.ly/tPpHpa :square:. It damages the opponent with about 20% of their health bar.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/F77.jpg Lead Coach (B)

You dealt a total of 1000 damage in Practice in Offline Mode.

As recommended in the roadmap, this should be your first trophy. Using any character will suffice for the requirements; simply keep beating the dummy in front of you until the counter reaches 1000. It’ll be a good idea to learn combos in the mean time and at the end, you’ll unlock the trophy. Just mess around and the trophy will pop in a minute or two.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/26A.jpg Touch-Up Artist (B)

You customized a character.

Namco Bandai love having customisation options in their main fighting game franchises, and Tekken really pushes it to the limit. First introduced in Tekken 5 on PS2, you can change the top, bottom, shoes, gloves, hair style, hair colour, aura, etc. The choice is endless. All you need to do for this trophy, though, is to customise one character. Change one piece of the character, complete the thumbnail and leave the customisation menu. The trophy should then unlock.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/E5C.jpg Dance to Your Own Beat (B)

You changed the background music using TEKKEN TUNES.

In the main menu, pick TEKKEN TUNES. Choose a stage and then swap the music to another from the soundtrack of the game or from your HDD, then save and the trophy will unlock.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/4BB.jpg Movie Buff (S)

You unlocked 40 characters' ending movies.

As with practically every fighting game, every character in Tekken Tag Tournament 2 has an ending. One way of unlocking an ending is by playing through each of their Arcade, however you do not have to take this option - there is a much easier way. Playing Ghost Battle will unlock endings every few matches (Ghost Battle will be the most efficient way of earning Behold the Tekken Lord!, so it’s killing two birds with the one stone) so not to worry; you will most likely earn this on your way to that trophy.

Alas it is also quite possible for some, like me, you will not earn this during your grind. In that case, what you'll need to do is you'll need to quickly run through Arcade Mode with the required characters as your primary choice. Unfortunately, depending on how lucky you get in Ghost Battle, you could only require two or three runs, but if you're unlucky you may need ten or so runs. To speed things up choose the character whose ending you need and a character such as JACK-6 or P. JACK while using a move such as http://bit.ly/tPpHpa :square:, to end the Arcade Mode in 6~ minutes.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/686.jpg Combot, On Standby! (B)

You cleared Stage 1 in Fight Lab.

You must finish Stage 1 of the Fight Lab. In Stage 1, Violet teaches you the basics of movement and using the basic attacks of the left/right punches and left/right kicks.

Boss Battle:

The boss battle is actually very easy if you mastered the techniques taught to you earlier. You’ll face three enemies. All of them shoot objects at you while you’re trying to side-step around the mine-bombs on the floor, so make sure to keep an eye out on them. When you get up close they won’t be so daring as it’ll only take two kicks to wipe each enemy out. Take out the final stage of the boss for the score screen to pop in and your trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/E0F.jpg Combot, Move Out! (B)

You cleared Stage 2 in Fight Lab.

You must finish Stage 2 of the Fight Lab. In Stage 2, Violet teaches you slightly more advanced attacking moves, such as how to hit with high, mid and low attacks, grabs and homing attacks.

Boss Battle:

This time you go up against three JACK-6 robots. The first two deal with the low, mid, and high attacks as taught to you earlier in the lesson. Hitting the incorrect area will make the JACK-6 robot hit you as punishment (however if you dawdle and do not attack them they will still attack, so be careful). Remember, http://bit.ly/t6vQPu:cross: for a low kick, :cross: for a mid kick and :circle: for a high kick. The final one requires you to hit all areas with multiple times. Watch out, as the final JACK-6 can hit with much stronger attacks than the last two. Finally, do a powered-up move to take out the robot in one shot, and thus ends the lesson.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/2D6.jpg Combot, Engage! (B)

You cleared Stage 3 in Fight Lab.

You must finish Stage 3 of the Fight Lab. In Stage 3, Violet teaches you about throw escapes and punishers.

Boss Battle:

In this fight, you will battle three Mokujins. The first Mokujin is easy and goes does with a few :circle: punishers. The next one uses grabs much more frequently, so that’s something to watch out for, however it still goes down with a steady mix of :square: and :circle: punishers. The final one goes all out on grabs (remember you can escape all of these with :square: + :triangle:) and will attack like crazy, so keep it up on the :circle: punishers to take him down.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/A18.jpg Combot, Annihilate! (B)

You cleared Stage 4 in Fight Lab.

You must finish Stage 4 of the Fight Lab. In Stage 4, Violet teaches you about balcony breaks, wall breaks and floor breaks.

Boss Battle:

This is possibly the easiest boss battle of the bunch. For the first stage, just use the basic http://bit.ly/t6vQPuhttp://bit.ly/tFgXtkhttp://bit.ly/t46CJt :triangle: to launch the opponent and then http://bit.ly/tPpHpa :circle: to finish them quickly. In the next one, you can basically use the same strategy to finish them off exactly the same, and same goes for the final stage. Only notable difference with the third part is that the speed of both you and the enemy is doubled, but the enemies attack so scarcely it’ll feel no different.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/B69.jpg Combot, Return to Base! (S)

You cleared Stage 5 in Fight Lab.

You must finish Stage 5 of the Fight Lab. In the final stage, Violet teaches you about the basics of tagging in and out with a partner, Tag Throws, Tag Combos, and Tag Assaults.

Boss Battle:

This time you’ll fight another relatively easy battle against three familiar fighters. For the first one, use the Tag Combo (http://bit.ly/tPpHpa :triangle: :r1: and a follow up move) as taught to you earlier in the Stage. For the next world warrior, use Tag Assaults (http://bit.ly/t6vQPuhttp://bit.ly/tFgXtkhttp://bit.ly/t46CJt :triangle: closely followed by http://bit.ly/tPpHpa :square: followed by :r1:, and a bunch of add-on attacks), and for the third and final fighter use a mix of the two. All in all, they’re pretty easy for final bosses.

If you're reading this in regards to farming development points for Super Combot DX Complete!, then the easiest way to earn the maximum amount of points possible is to drag out the chains when fighting the opponents. Even after you reduce the health bar, continue the chain and try to keep it in the 400 points-per-hit mark for a few moments. Doing this with each opponent helps to get more development points. No damage taken always ensures you get an S rank, which gives you extra points too, but isn't totally necessary.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/995.jpg Super Combot DX Complete (G)

You unlocked all the content in Fight Lab.

You can purchases upgrades for your Combot in the Combat Tuning of the Fight Lab menu. Purchase all available upgrades here here to unlock this trophy. Note that the level-specific upgrades are not required for the trophy (the upgrades that require you to earn S rank in the Stages, otherwise this would be a *much* harder trophy). A good place to farm development points is Stage 5, Boss Battle. You get roughly 50,000-60,000 per win, and it only takes three or four minutes tops. You’ll need approximately 2,000,000 development points to purchase everything.

Check Combot, Return to Base! for details on the Stage 5 Boss Battle.

You won a PERFECT battle.

To earn a perfect in a battle, win a match without losing any health. This should most definitely come naturally however if you do miss it go into an Offline Versus Mode match against a second controller and win. It will unlock during gameplay.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/467.jpg GREAT Gladiator http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png

You won a GREAT battle.

To earn a great in a battle, win a match with only a sliver of health left. This should most definitely come naturally however if you do miss it go into an Offline Versus Mode match against a second controller, have Controller 2 reduce your health to almost zero and then the Controller 1 defeats Controller 2. It will unlock during gameplay.

First introduced in Tekken 6, ‘item moves’ are attacks (or sometimes just interesting movements) using an item the player purchases in the customisation menu. Firstly, you’ll need to buy the respective weapon. Each character has a different one (when you're grinding for Tekken Lord, you'll eventually unlock the option to buy the item). Once that is finished, equip it (you'll know it's an item move if it has a command next to it). If it's an upper body weapon, the input will be :square: :circle: simultaneously. If it's a lower body weapon, the input will be :triangle: :cross: simultaneously.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/C8E.jpg Who You Gonna Call? (B)

You defeated 30 ghosts.

In the main menu, head into Ghost Battle. This really just feels like another Endless Battle mode; if anything, the differences are minor. Fight and win 30 battles and the trophy is yours. You’ll be using this to your advantage in the grind for Tekken Lord anyway.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/54E.jpg Bazillionaire (S)

You earned over 10,000,000G total.

‘G’ is the form of currency in the Tekken universe; you earn G by winning in just about any mode, so this won’t become any sort of third grind as you may expect. You use this currency to buy clothing and decorative wear in the customisation menu. This is cumulative so you can spend this freely; you don’t need to have the 10,000,000G at once.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/AEB.jpg Fortunate Fighter (S)

You earned 3 Lucky Boxes.

Another interesting feature from previous Tekken games was a roulette game played after a successful match in which you can double your earnings from the match. These happen at random and there’s no way to make them happen besides keep winning, but they’re not too rare so it won’t be a luck-based trophy. This will most definitely unlock in the early stages of your Behold the Tekken Lord! grind.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/340.jpg Escape Artist (B)

You successfully completed 10 throw escapes.

This is very simple and you can get it in a matter of seconds. Have two controllers and enter Practice Mode.

  1. Player 2 inputs :square: :cross: simultaneously
  2. When grabbed, Player 1 then inputs :square:
  3. Player 1 will shake free of the opponent’s grasp.

This is one throw escape. Repeat 10 times for the trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/CC7.jpg Dish Best Served Cold (B)

You pulled off 3 reversals.

Reversals are anticipating an opponent’s attack and basically, countering it. Only certain characters in Tekken can do this. These characters are; Jin, Paul, Jun, Wang, Nina, Anna, and King. Pick any of those listed.

  1. Player 2 approaches with any of the basic moves (:square:, :triangle:, :circle: or :cross:)
  2. Player 1 quickly inputs http://bit.ly/tPpHpa :square: :cross: straight after

If a special move on Player 1’s side is initiated, you’ve pulled off a reversal. Simply do this another two times for the trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/21C.jpg Stick It to 'Em (B)

You pulled off 10 homing attacks.

Bound combos are moves which are set out to stop side-stepping opponents. Every character has one but if you want to nab this trophy quickly feel free to use some easy ones:

Christie:

:circle: > :cross:

Xiaoyu:

http://bit.ly/t46CJt :circle: :circle:

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/CED.jpg Below the Belt (B)

You pulled off 3 low parries.

A parry is moving towards the opponent when the opponent is attacking to block and leave you at an advantage. For this, you only need to do three, except they must be low. It should be done as so:

  1. Player 2 approaches and presses http://bit.ly/t6vQPu :square:
  2. Player 1, at the same time, presses http://bit.ly/t6vQPuhttp://bit.ly/tFgXtkhttp://bit.ly/t46CJt
  3. Player 1 should block the move and their health bar should be untouched. This is a parry.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/A80.jpg Oodles of Ukemi (B)

You pulled off 3 ukemi.

An Ukemi is getting up directly after being hit to the floor. This should most definitely come naturally, as an Ukemi can be pulled off simply in the heat of battle. In case you don’t understand, when you’re falling to the floor, press either http://bit.ly/tPpHpa or http://bit.ly/t46CJt and the player should roll backwards/forwards immediately. This is an Ukemi.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/E39.jpg Insane Juggler (S)

You dealt more than 62 damage in a midair combo.

Check out Impressive Moves for more information.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/EB1.jpg Flying Butt-Kicker (B)

You pulled off 3 10 hit combos.

This can be very easy if you use the right combos. A lot of characters have 10-hit combos however many have very harsh timing and remembering the inputs can be difficult. The easiest 10-hit combo is definitely Baek’s, which is executed as follows:

:circle: :cross: :circle: :cross: :cross: :cross: :cross: :cross: :circle: :cross:

The timing is the same between each input which makes it quite easy, not too mention it is only swapping between :circle: and :cross:. Input the first three buttons quickly and then count the next five inputs so that you don’t go over too much. Then finish off with a move that launches the opponent into the air (if entered correctly).

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/46D.jpg The Original Bouncer (B)

You pulled off 10 bound combos.

Bound combos are taught to you in Fight Lab, and can be unlocked there. There are many combos to get this trophy however this combo is the easiest. Pick Alisa and enter Practice Mode. The move is called Dynamic Range:

http://bit.ly/tPpHpa :cross: :circle:, a short pause and then :cross: :circle:

What'll happen is Alisa will hit the opponent into the air with the first :cross: :circle: combo and will hit them back to the ground with the second. After inputting this follow up with any sort of move and this'll count as a single bound combo.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/A9E.jpg Master of the Tag Combo (B)

You pulled off 10 Tag Combos.

Try not to get mixed up with Tag Combos and Tag Assaults; they are different, but only slightly. A Tag Combo is shorter and is composed of the following. Note that this can be earned in Practice Mode:

  1. Player 1: Picks Devil Jin and Xiaoyu
  2. Player 2: Picks anyone, it is irrelevant.
  3. Player 1 makes Jin press http://bit.ly/t6vQPu :cross: :circle:, and press :r1: after (to tag out and allow Jin’s partner in) and have the partner hit the falling opponent. If you chose Xiaoyu as recommended earlier, press http://bit.ly/tPpHpa :circle: for an 100% safe way to finish off the move.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/1DF.jpg Master of the Tag Assault (B)

You pulled off 10 Tag Assaults.

A Tag Assault is basically a move where the second member of a tag team will join in and help the player. After the partner leaves, you must hit the opponent again one more time and it will count as a Tag Assault. Here’s an example of Xiaoyu and Alisa’s.

There’s an excellent way to make this trophy much easier. In Practice Mode, enter the Controller Setup in the pause menu and map Xiaoyu’s :r2: button (which is an unused button, hence why it’ll be easier than messing up all your necessary buttons) to what is called LP+RP+TAG. This’ll create the start of the Tag Assault for as you soon as you hit the :r2: button so you won’t have to worry about it. Press this button and it’ll make your opponent go airborne. Have Alisa follow up with her http://bit.ly/t46CJt :circle: move, then step forward quickly when you regain control of Xiayou and press :cross:.

If Xiaoyu has hit the opponent successfully in the end, it’ll count as a Tag Assault. Now, repeat this another nine times for the trophy.

Here is an example of a Tag Assault (video created by SirJrGaming):

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5RVOUic14c&feature=relmfu]Tekken Tag Tournament 2: Trophy/Achievement Guide ~ Master of The Tag Assault ~ - YouTube[/ame]

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/A86.jpg Master of the Direct Tag Assault (B)

You pulled off 3 Direct Tag Assaults.

If you follow the description for Master of the Tag Assault and map out your :r2: button to LP+RP+TAG, this’ll earn after your third Tag Assault attempt, regardless whether you complete the Assault or not.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/B7D.jpg Master of the Tag Throw (B)

You pulled off 10 Tag Throws.

Tag Throws are basically the throwing motion, except the partner of the player joins in to help. To execute a Tag Throw as opposed to a regular throw, press :r1: :triangle: simultaneously. If the partner appears and helps the primary fighter by using a unique throw, you inputted it correctly. Repeat another nine times for the trophy.

Here is an example of a Tag Throw (video created by SirJrGaming):

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3iGYtotTI4&feature=relmfu]Tekken Tag Tournament 2: Trophy/Achievement Guide ~ Master of The Tag Throw ~ - YouTube[/ame]

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/C34.jpg True Friendship (B)

You pulled off 3 Tag Crashes.

A Tag Crash is quite a handy trait in this game, helpful for online especially. The move is aimed to stop spammers in their tracks. When you are on the ground (not standing, lying on the floor) and an opponent is keeping you down via continuous attacks, eventually, your partner’s Netsu will activate (their health bar with blink white). Press :r1: :triangle: at this time to have your partner come crashing into the battle, hitting the opponent and giving your previously-downed ally to get ready to fight again. It is recommended to farm this in Versus matches, as there is a slim to none chance of this occurring in Arcade Mode.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/549.jpg The Best of Friends (S)

You pulled off 3 partner-specific Tag Throws.

When the description says partner-specific Tag Throws, it is signifying that, although almost every pairing can use a Tag Throw, certain pairings have a unique Tag Throw There are many unique pairings, however here are a few. Pick Jinpachi and Wang, then simply use the aforementioned button sequence three times to earn the trophy:

http://bit.ly/t46CJthttp://bit.ly/t46CJt :square: :triangle: and :r1:

If Wang tags in and stays in the battle, you've pulled off one unique Tag Throw.

Boss Strategies:

Although the A.I can be easily beaten with correct knowledge of the Tekken's system works and exploitation of the computer, the final three bosses can trick you out quite easily if do not utilise the aforementioned. Below, are strategies for each boss.

Heihachi and Kazuya - Stage Six

You fight Heihachi and Kazuya Mishima as per every character's Arcade mode storyline by Stage Six.

This pairing are actually quite easy but it is widely known that Heihachi especially can spam the throws. Not to mention when Kazuya joins the ranks he seems to love using the Spiral Uppercut move. Thus you're going to need a good steady mix of combos and defensive (which, if you take my strategies and recommendations into consideration above, you should be relatively acquainted to at this point). Quite honestly the A.I. is just as it was in Stage Five or Six however it spams a bit more, especially if you're on the higher difficulties.

However, Heihachi seems to follow a certain pattern. He uses throws quite frequently when in the centre/around the centre of the stage but if you go near a wall he'll batter you into it, with little mercy. Because of that warning, you should be able to counter such moves if the moment arrives that you find he's cornering you. Another important thing you may notice is the A.I rarely uses Tag Assaults, Combos and Throws. This means it'd be a great opportunity for you to use the Tag Attack variations. Feel free to use any of the Character Recommendations listed under Behold the Tekken Lord! or Proof of Your Existence if you have found them useful.

True Ogre - Stage Seven

True Ogre. A returning character from one of the elder Tekkens and he's still an excellent opponent and fighter. If you're finding immense difficulty in this battle then simply pause the game and switch down the difficulty, if such precaution is required. True Ogre can be savage on higher difficulties; unless you've got top-notch defence and a good selection of combos, he can be killer.

He seems to use a certain fire-based move (similar to one of Jinpachi's from Tekken 5) which can damage you greatly (you'll know it's the move if your character actually lets out their K.O. cry) and can deal 60%-80% damage, depending on how close you are to True Ogre when he lets out the move. Thankfully, this can be easily dodged by using either http://bit.ly/sWPNk3 or http://bit.ly/t6vQPu (side-stepping up or down) and the projectile shoots right past. Rather, you should worry more about his close-quarters combat moves. He can use some nasty juggles with some of his strongest moves. Good part is, with the correct defence techniques such as parries, reversals, etc. and the fact that he rarely, if ever, uses throws, you've got a massive advantage here. Also, whilst this may come as obvious, he cannot avail of any of the Tag attack variations (same goes for the final battle with Unknown) so utilise these to your advantage. Feel free to use any of the Character Recommendations listed under Behold the Tekken Lord! or Proof of Your Existence if you have found them useful.

Unknown - Final Boss

Phase I:

First up is Jun Kazama. Many of her moves are almost identical to the elder game, and even if you're new to this she's still very predictable. She generally uses a generic mix of one or two combos with a throw thrown in here and there. She's predictable in that her moves need little figuring out. Try to win on the first round here; if you lose, it means you'll only get one chance at battling her 'alternate form', which has quite the difficulty curve from Phase 1.

Phase II:

Unknown is a well-known fan-favourite character whose only other appearance besides Tekken Tag Tournament 2 was the game's prequel, Tekken Tag Tournament. Although she had a predictable moveset in the elder game, she now comes with an all-new deadly moveset, and is much more daunting than before. Look below for the attacks to look out for.

Unfortunately, unlike Phase I of the final battle, Unknown goes wild with the combos and in some rare instances can use a continuous combo on you that lasts from 'Fight!' to 'K.O.!'. First, let's break down her moveset.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/DA8.jpg Impressive Moves (S)

You pulled off a GREAT combo.

There are many GREAT combos in the Tekken universe however the Law/Paul combination is the easiest. Here are in the inputs:

Law ~ Primary / Paul ~ Secondary

  1. Law: http://bit.ly/t46CJt :triangle: :square: in quick succession, then :r1: to TAG out
  2. Paul: enters and presses :triangle: :triangle:
  3. While the enemy is airborne, Law TAGs back in with :r1: and with good timing, presses :square:

The announcer will shout 'GREAT!' and the trophy will unlock.

Below is a visual aid, all credit goes to xxCoolbreeze on Youtube, showing us how to unlock both Impressive Moves and Insane Juggler simultaneously:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbMYlVa_H8A]Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Trophies (Impressive Moves & Insane Juggler) - YouTube[/ame]

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/462.jpg Fickle Friend (S)

You switched places with your partner 765 times.

There’s always a time-related trophy in games, isn’t there?

It’s quite self-explanatory; you’ll need to have pressed the :r1: button to tag out with your partner a total of 765 times. Of course, you don’t have to sit at your PS3, holding the remote for a few hours, this will come naturally over your playtime. If it doesn't, even after all your grinding and online gaming, just go into Practice Mode and keep hitting :r1:. It shouldn't take too long because of the aforementioned.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/170.jpg Watch Your Step! (B)

You broke a floor.

In a few of the levels in Tekken Tag Tournament 2, you may or may not notice a floor beneath. Using strong moves can break the floor relatively quickly (in particular, Lili’s :square: :cross: grab can make a break on the flooring although it may take a few tries) to get to the lower level. The Hall of Judgement stage has a breakable floor. Once you do, the trophy will unlock, during the ongoing battle.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/827.jpg Renovation Time (B)

You broke a wall.

This is easily attained in the Moonlit Wilderness level. Have one player approach the wall and have the opponent step all the way back, then run towards the idle player to crash both players through the wall, breaking it. The trophy will then unlock after.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/AFA.jpg Geronimooo! (B)

You broke a balcony.

This is easily attained in the Canyon level. To the south of your original starting positions is a low wall. Have one player standing right in front of it, while the other backs up to the level wall. Have the player rush towards the idle one and if successful, the player will fall to the lower floor (to have the opponent’s partner waiting at the end). Simply doing this is enough to satisfy the requirements of the trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/FB2.jpg Avoid Flying Heads (B)

You escaped from Alisa's Spam Bomb move.

Alisa’s Spam Bomb move is initiated by pressinghttp://bit.ly/t46CJthttp://bit.ly/u5hbAMhttp://bit.ly/sWPNk3 :square: :triangle:. Alisa will take off her head, hand it to her opponent, and it’ll explode. As you can see when the head is placed into the opponent’s hands, it is a throw move (meaning it is dodged via using the :square: :triangle: option). This is quite difficult to do solo, so with a real partner it is recommended.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/F56.jpg Doused But Not Out (B)

Your upper body got wet in the Fallen Garden stage.

Choose the Fallen Garden stage in Offline Versus Mode, and get onto the ground (most easily achieved by having the opponent press http://bit.ly/t6vQPu :cross: to make you fall) and you will fall into water. This may not unlock first at first attempt so roll around or re-attempt if it doesn’t unlock. This can also be unlocked in Arcade Mode, in the final boss battle.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/756/370.jpg Bad Date (B)

You dropped a damsel into the pool in the Eternal Paradise stage.

Choose the Eternal Paradise stage in Practice Mode, and to your direct north you’ll see a bunch of beach girls watching the match. Walk up close to the edge and one of the girls will fall directly in, unlocking you the trophy.

http://imageshack.us/a/img96/1091/tektextgtas.png

Although Tekken Tag Tournament 2 has a very easy Platinum aside from a minor grind, the battle system is quite complex and mastering it is a difficult task. Fight Lab is a handy way of helping you into the style of 3D fighting however it doesn't go into the greatest detail on parrying, correct usage of blocking and good times to use throws. Here are a few noteworthy tips for your trip to the Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Platinum.

Basic and Advanced Defensive Techniques:

Listed below are some of Tekken’s basic and advanced defensive techniques, however they are also some of the main essentials to survive in the heat of battle.

Blocking:- This may seem a bit odd to put into the Tips and Strategies section however you’d be surprised at the amount of people you can encounter who still don’t know how to properly ration their blocking. Blocking, as you should very well know, is initiated by pressing the D-pad in the direction away from the opponent (so if you’re on the left side, you can block an incoming attack by pressing http://bit.ly/tPpHpa, however this reverts to http://bit.ly/t46CJt if the opponent moves and you move to the right side). If you are blocking a low attack, you must be bending down (bend down with http://bit.ly/t6vQPu) and block the move the respective direction with correct timing. Blocking leaves you unharmed but the enemy can very easily follow up with an unblock able move to harm your luck. If you feel you need a more advanced defensive technique, you should try getting used to Parrying (listed just below).

Parrying:- Parrying may not be important at first however when you face off against higher ranks in Arcade, Ghost or Survival you may soon find that parrying is a worthwhile technique to edit into your fighting style. Well, firstly, what is a parry? A parry, in basic terms, is the opposite of a block. This might sound quite idiotic at first however it can be a life-saving choice in many situations. How do I do a parry? Take for example, an enemy on the right side was attack with a light punch (:square:). Instead of simply blocking the move, http://bit.ly/t46CJt towards the opponent initiates a parry, which does the same as a block initially but leaves you at a great advantage to head in and attack (simply flip the controls if you are standing on the right side). It definitely takes a bit of practice but if used correctly it can give you the upper-hand many times and could make the difference between a superior victory and a crushing defeat.

Reversals:- Reversals are, in a way, similar to parries except they take it a step further. If an enemy on the approached and attacked with a mid or high attack, using the move http://bit.ly/tPpHpa :square: :cross: will have the character counter the move and deal damage to the opponent additionally. This, like parries, can be invaluable in situations and presents a surprise to the opponent. If you are on the right side, simply flip the directional pad input opposite.

Throw escapes:- The final simple technique worth noting which will come into use frequently during battle are throw escapes. The inputs are quite basic; if an enemy initiates a throw (initiated by a pink sphere flashing if they successfully grab you), you must input the correct buttons in response. The two options every character have for a throw are :square: :cross: OR :triangle: :circle:. The problem with being successful with throw escapes is it may to turn to a bit of guessing. Unless you know which throw is assigned to which buttons for your opponent, you have a 50% chance of pressing the incorrect buttons in response, meaning throw escapes are not always the most efficient route to take.

Basic and Advanced Offensive Techniques:

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 sees the introduction (and for a few, the return) of many handy team attacks. These are Tag Combos, Tag Assaults, and Tag Throws.

Tag Throws:- Tag Throws have very basic inputs; every pairing can do one however there are a few rare exceptions which have a more unique Tag Throw. To do a basic Tag Throw, though, the inputs are :r1: :triangle:. It works the same as a simple throw, however both members of the tag team have a part to play in the move and it also tags your new character in. Although a very simple move it is *very* efficient option to take; rather than just tagging out your character, if the chance arises, you can tag out while dealing good damage to your opponent simultaneously.

Tag Combos:- Tag Combos are useful little moves and are an alternate way to tag out yet deal damage simultaneously. You use a launcher with one character (these vary from character to character) and then immediately press :r1: to tag in your partner, who can follow up with any combo or attack they please (the opponent is airborne, thus they cannot block, leaving you at a *huge* advantage to go to town on the offensive). Look under Master of the Tag Combo for examples of this technique. However, a more advanced form of Tag Combos are Tag Assaults; check just below for details.

Tag Assaults:- Tag Assaults are almost like a more complex version of a Tag Combo. It’s generally the same in appearance however when the partner joins in both team members stay on the screen and the catch is one character can combo, when they stop the second follows on, then it continues for about three changes until the Assault eventually finishes (or else it’d be the ultimate spamfest option). It can be a very worthwhile move to grow accustomed to using however do not go overboard with it or else you may eventually begin to use it more often that it’d become genuine spamming. Rationing your combos is a great strength. Look under Master of the Tag Assault for examples of this technique.

Utilising all these movesets can let you turn into quite the tactical and advanced fighter, especially the defensive section. If you want to further your skills, practice against Arcade mode enemies on high difficulties, but if you want the true training experience, playing against real players online can keep your mind and skills sharp.
