jessinha
Hey anyone can tell me. I have my ps3 (slim model). It doesnt read any disc anymore. If I insert the disc it makes some zoom sound, then it makes a eject sound. I had the same problem a while ago, but then as soon as inserted another disc, it worked again. But now none of my games work. All are scratchfree and in perfect condition. My digital games, the downloaded ones of PS plus, do work without any problem. What could be broken and is it fixable easy by myself? I m not really technical. I dont have any warranty anymore since my console is almost 4 years old. Mellenthin
It's the lens that's giving in. I have the same problem but the gaming gods have graced me with a still semi-functioning one, albeit it take many attempts to read a disc. You can either open the console and clean the lens. If you do, make sure to find a proper guide showing the necessary steps. Or you can send your PS3 to Sony although that will probably not be worth the cost as PS3's are cheap enough nowadays. NY_Madness
I have the slim model too and mines is also 4 years old and mines also started having a problem like this after New Years. I think the blu-ray drive is starting to fail, unfortunately I have no fix for it. A friend of mines has the same exact problem and has had his Slim ps4 for 4 years also, I dunno if its a coincidence or the drives just start to fail after 4 years in the Slim model. Mines still manages to read discs, sometimes it takes a few attempts and it works better when I have it standing vertical opposed to horizontal, not sure why. Legion2000
It's definitely the blu-ray drive being faulty. There are many tutorials online (youtube is a good place to start) which explain how to clean the lens for example. Since you don't have the warranty it's up to you to decide. However, the disc drive is already broken so you might give it a try. Be careful though when opening electronic equipment and follow the guides carefully. You're doing it at your own risk after all ^^ Good luck!
jessinha
Ok thx. I think I will just leave it like this and i ordered a new ps3. I can still use this one for the digital games at least and for netflix and stuff. Before it used to freeze a lot too, the games, so I guess its not worth to let it repair by sony and myself and fixing things isnt a big success normally.
