Introduction

Tales of Xillia is the latest installment in the “Tales of” series celebrating the series’ 15th anniversary, and has shown the most sales in all of the “Tales of” games just from preorders alone. This is the first time both of the Tales teams work together on a single Tales game, as Team Symphonia and Team Destiny work with together to give us this amazing product. The story of Xillia takes place in the world of Rieze Maxia, where humans, spirits, and demons reside within this world together in perfect harmony. Milla Maxwell, the main heroine, also known as the Spirit Maxwell, protects everything to keep it in perfect harmony; however, a dictator known as Nachtigal appears to disrupt that harmony for the sake of his own power. You play as Milla Maxwell and Jude Mathis along with the additional characters you meet in the story to stop the evil aspirations of Nachtigal and prevent war from breaking loose.

Trophy-wise the game is pretty straight forward and can be grindy if you don’t prepare yourself early when you start the game. All the trophies are tied to titles in-game and will pop after unlocking the respective title. Luckily, you don’t have to get 100% completion on all your records, as most of the trophies are tied to 2nd or 3rd tier titles in the game. The only trophy to be concerned about is 1 (S) Sub-event Superhero, which is detailed in the guide.

Step 1: Choose a main character and complete their story mode

When you start up the game, you’re given a choice of picking either Jude or Milla. You can choose whoever you want, but it’s advised to pick Jude first because his route has 2 more sub events than Milla’s, and the whole story will be less confusing if you play his side first.

As there are no difficulty-related trophies, you can set the difficulty to whatever you’re most comfortable with. You can also lower or increase it any time through the options, so feel free to do so if the game is getting too easy/difficult.

Once that’s done, just play the game and immerse yourself in the game environment, gathering any treasures and loot you find along the way, and fighting encounters in every new area. The biggest things to keep in mind during this playthrough are missable sub events and long-term trophies. Working on these trophies as you play the game will reduce the amount of clean-up you have to do at the end, so it’s important to be aware of their requirements and start early.

Consult the Sub Events guide for more details on the missable sub events.

Trophies you can work on while playing the game and may unlock as you progress are:

(B)

Spirit Shift Adept

(B)
Charge Adept

(B)
Teepo Switching Adept

(B)
Arte Tuning Adept

(B)
Skilled Binder

(B)
Deft Breaker

(B)
Yeoman Healer

(B)
Spirit Guardian

(B)
Career Thief

(B)
Skilled Delegator

(B)
Sadist

(B)
Leader of Links

(B)
Forger of Chains

(B)
Jet Black Buzzard

(B)
Sous Chef

Once you beat the story you’ll receive these trophies

(S)

Scholar of Rieze Maxia

(S)
Traveler of Rieze Maxia

(S)
Exposer of Rieze Maxia

(G)
He Who Acts With Conviction/She Who Upholds Her Conviction

You’ll also be prompted to make a clear save. Loading this save will put you back at the point before the final boss, so you can work on preparing for your second playthrough from there.

Step 2: Finish the post game dungeon, complete 90 sub events, and acquire all treasure-related trophies.

For this step, you’ll be preparing for your second playthrough, and taking care of the trophies that don’t have their progress carried over between playthroughs.

After beating the game, you’ll want to enter the secret dungeon, Magnus Zero, and defeat the boss there. Then you’ll want to make sure you obtain the trophy for completing 90 sub events as well as the trophies for gathering 50 Aifread treasures, opening 300 treasure chests, and gathering 800 random treasures, since progress on these trophies don’t carry over to the next playthrough.

You’ll also want to make sure you obtain enough grade to acquire certain bonuses during NG+. 4000 grade is more than enough, and you’ll likely get more than that by finishing the trophies in this step, but if you want more grade, you can also attempt (B) Combo Artiste during this playthrough.

After this step you’ll obtain:

(B)

Treasure Treasurer

(B)
Loot Lord

(B)
Pirate King

(B)
Combo Artiste

(S)
Sub-event Superhero

(G)
World’s Greatest Warrior

Step 3: New Game+

Now you’re ready to start your New Game+. Before doing so, you need to unlock (B) Obsessive Skit Viewer, which you more than likely will not have unlocked. In the grade shop, you will see a choice to unlock all skits at the cost of 3000 grade. Select that, then go to the menu, then select Library → Skits. All the skits will be available for viewing but will be marked as "NEW!". Simply view 220 new skits to get the trophy, then reload your save to start your real New Game+.

If you plan on carrying over your shop levels, use all your materials to upgrade the armor and accessory shops to as far as it will go. If they’re already maxed out, use the materials to upgrade your lowest leveled shops, starting with weapons first. When you start your NG+, you’ll be given an option to receive several bonuses in the grade shop. Here are the recommended choices you should get, in order of importance.

  • Inherit Devil’s Arms (500 Grade)
  • Double Experience (300 Grade)
  • 5x Experience (2000 Grade)
  • Inherit Arte Usage (100 Grade)
  • Inherit Shop level (1000 Grade)

If you have enough grade, you can choose the following bonuses:

  • Double Material Points (300 Grade) Not as important if you already got the trophies for shop levels
  • Inherit Materials (500 Grade) Don’t use your materials to upgrade your shops if you plan on getting this
  • Inherit Accessory Items (700 Grade)
  • Double Item Drops (500 Grade)
  • Double Gald (300 Grade)
  • Double Gauge Growth (300 Grade)

Now, choose the character you didn’t pick the first time, and complete their story. With the Devil’s Arms, you can just rush through all the areas, head straight to the boss and demolish it. Make sure to use the “Spicy Chicken Roll” food item before every boss fight, as this will give 20x the normal experience, which will help tremendously in getting everyone to level 99.

You should also attempt the trophy (B) Specialist in Rare Monsters when you’re able to, as doing so will provide sufficient experience and levels that you shouldn’t need to grind levels for the story at all.

At the end of this step, you’ll obtain

(B)

Obsessive Skit Viewer

(B)
Specialist in Rare Monsters

(G)
He Who Acts With Conviction/She Who Upholds Her Conviction

Step 4: Clean-up

If you’ve been following the roadmap and have been working on the long-term trophies as you play, you shouldn’t have many trophies left to work on. All you should have remaining are the trophies for enemy entries, lvl 99 with all characters, item book entries, Jude and Leia’s battle action uses, and possibly the shop levels. Now’s the time to wrap all of those up. You should have made a significant amount of progress towards almost all of them, so it shouldn’t take very long to wrap everything up.

At the end of this step, you’ll unlock:

(B)

Enemy Sage

(B)
Item Fanatic

(B)
Snap Pivot Adept

(B)
Elongating Staff Adept

(B)
Item Shop Magnate

(B)
Weapon Shop Magnate

(B)
Armor Shop Magnate

(B)
Accessory Shop Magnate

(B)
Food Vendor Magnate

(S)
Black Belt

(S)
Lord of Spirits

(S)
Mercenary Legend

(S)
Graduate Channeler

(S)
Genius Tactician

(S)
Grandmaster-to-Be

(P)
Lord of Xillia

Conclusion to Tales of Xillia

Overall Tales of Xillia is a wonderful game; it is much more fast paced than previous Tales games, and has a well-done story. The trophies give breathing room opposed to most other JRPGs making it one of the easier (P) to obtain. This game is highly recommended for any JRPG/RPG fan.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/8C7.jpg Lord of Xillia (P)(H)

The mark of complete Xillia mastery. Thanks for playing!

Obtain all other trophies for this shiny prize.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/819.jpg Enemy Sage (B):tagcollectible:

Achieve a target number of entries in the Enemy Book. Awarded to Xillia's truest enemy enthusiasts.

Progress on this trophy carries over to a NG+.

You’ll need to register 275 enemies in the Enemy Book for this trophy. As long as you fight all the encounters in each new area, you should be at around 200 entries by the time you beat the game. Since each character’s story has bosses exclusive to their side, it’s recommended to clean up this trophy during NG+.

The only areas you cannot return to are the E.S.S. Zenethra, Temporal Crossroads (Jude's Story only) and the Spirit Realm (Milla’s Story only), so make sure to fight all the encounters in those areas before completing them.

Some other optional monsters you can fight for more entries are:

  • Bacura
  • Bronze Bacura
  • Silver Bacura
  • Gold Bacura

These are rare monsters that appear as rotating bricks, and will flee from you if approached. Use a Dark Bottle to make them chase you instead.

  • Veywind Eye (Found in Torbalan Highroad - Central Region, to the east)
  • Graddic Claw (Found in Rusalle Highroad - North Region, outside the Tatalian Abyss entrance)
  • Crimson and Azure Servant (Found in “The Lost Transcendental Ring” sub event)
  • Gandala Defense Golem 1 and 2 (Found in “Take Over Fort Gandala” sub event)
  • The Devil Beast Roparde can also summon 4 different types of monsters that are unique to its battle.

Furthermore, the coliseum in Xian Du has 22 unique entries that you can get by going through the following matches:

  • Beginner Single
  • Advanced Single
  • Beginner Group
  • Advanced Group
  • Grandmaster

For the Grandmaster match, you’ll need to beat it with two different characters to unlock all of its entries.

It’s advised to save the coliseum for NG+, should you need it, as clearing the coliseum battles will provide a hefty amount of experience, and with the 10x experience bonus, will minimize the unnecessary number of battles you need to do to reach level 99.

Note that the rebattles with the upgraded Golden Mage Knight do not give any new entries.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/20F.jpg Item Fanatic (B):tagcollectible:

Achieve a target number of entries in the Item Book. Awarded to Xillia's most avid item collectors.

Progress on this trophy carries over to a NG+.

You’ll need to register 700 items in the Item Data. Virtually all the items you acquire throughout the game, including key items, count toward this trophy.

You’ll be working towards this trophy as you go for (S) Sub-event Superhero, (B) Loot Lord, (B) Treasure Treasurer, (B) Pirate King, and the (B) Magnate trophies, so focus on it only after you’ve acquired all the aforementioned trophies.

You should have over 600 items by the time you finish the above trophies. From there, the best way to increase your item count is to raise the weapon, armor, and accessory shops to level 100 and the food and item shops to at least level 50, then buy one of everything from the shops.

Completing the coliseum’s Grandmaster challenge with each character will also reward you with that character’s joke weapon, for a total of 6 new entries, and 50000 gald per clear, which will help in purchasing items from the shops. A vendor in the Sharilton east market area also sells Ice Pop, which is not found anywhere else.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/77E.jpg Sub-event Superhero (S) :tagmissable: (MISSABLE)

Complete a target number of sub-events. Awarded to Xillia's most curious questers.

Progress on this trophy does NOT carry over to a NG+.

For this trophy you’ll need to complete 90 sub events in a single playthrough. You’ll usually know you can start a sub event when you see a ! over an NPC’s head and sometimes entering specific places at specific times will also trigger one. You will also be prompted with a sub event skit when one is accessible in an old town via fast travel.

Since over 30 sub events can be missed, 9 of which can be missed in Jude's playthrough and 7 in Milla's before you miss your chance at the trophy, it’s advised to use the missable section of the sub event guide as you play, making sure to finish the missable events before they become unavailable. When you reach the point before the final boss, you’ll be free to do all the other events at your leisure.

Please refer to the Sub Events Guide for more information.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/F23.jpg Obsessive Skit Viewer (B)

Unlock and view a target number of skits. Awarded to Xillia's most dedicated couch potatoes.

Skits are dialog scenes between characters, and are usually triggered by advancing the story, doing sub events, or performing specific actions like using a certain arte in battle. When they’re available for viewing, a prompt will appear in the bottom left corner, and you just need to press :select: to view it.

For this trophy, you’ll need to view 220 out of 241 possible skits in a single playthrough. As some skits are exclusive to Milla and Jude’s story, it’s possible, but unlikely you’ll be able to see that many in a single playthrough, as some skits have very specific requirements. The skits you’ve seen will carry over between playthroughs, but you need to view the skit again from the Library for it to count for that playthrough.

Fortunately, the grade shop offers the option to unlock all skits, at the cost of 3000 grade, so the easiest way to unlock this trophy is to start a NG+ once you have at least 3000 grade, choose to unlock all skits, and view them from the Library, going down the list until the trophy pops. Reload your save afterwards, so you can use the grade for something else.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/392.jpg Treasure Treasurer (B):tagcollectible:

Find and open a target number of treasure chests. Awarded to Xillia's finest treasure hunters.

Progress on this trophy does NOT carry over to a NG+.

You’ll need to open 300 treasure chests for this trophy. Treasure chest in this case refers to a one-time only treasure, and will leave behind a treasure box icon on the map when acquired. It doesn’t necessarily have to be an actual chest, although these are the most common variety, but it can also be one-time items you acquire from houses in towns.

When exploring open areas and dungeons, keep an eye out for holes you can crawl through in the walls, as these will oftentimes lead to a chest. Most rooms in towns also have hidden treasures that aren’t visible until you approach it, wherein you’ll be prompted to press :cross: to collect it.

As there are well over 300 treasures in the game, you’ll likely get this naturally during your first playthrough if you search every new area and town you come across.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/299.jpg Loot Lord (B):tagcollectible:

Find and gather a target number of random treasures. Awarded to Xillia's most precocious packrats.

Progress on this trophy does NOT carry over to a NG+.

Random treasures are represented by a sparkle or bag on the field, and a blue or white bag icon on the map. Unlike treasure chests, these treasures respawn in random locations whenever you enter a new area, so be sure to check areas you’ve visited before as you may find new random treasures (credit to Ryukori for this image).

http://i.imgur.com/s8SR0js.png

In order to get this trophy, you’ll need to uncover 800 blue/white bag icons on the map. This means that getting a treasure at a spot where you’ve already obtained one before will NOT count towards the trophy. As there are well over 800 possible random treasure locations, this shouldn’t be too hard to obtain if you search each new area you come across, and look for any new spawn points on future revisits.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/B65.jpg Pirate King (B):tagcollectible:

Discover a target number of Aifread's treasures. Awarded to Xillia's most adventurous outlaws.

Progress on this trophy does NOT carry over to a NG+.

Aifread treasures are purple diamond-shaped gems that are usually found hanging on walls and trees. For this trophy, you’ll need to find 50 out of a possible 61. A pictorial guide on where to find most of the treasures can be found using JPS Tales of Xillia Aifread Treasure Guide. The following treasures are not included in the guide:

  • Sillea Tundra - North Region (It’s behind a rock in the northwestern area) Omega Elixir x1
  • Sillea Tundra - South Region (It’s on a tree in the northeastern area) Heart Eyepatch

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/511.jpg Jet Black Buzzard (B):tagcollectible:

Trade in a target number of Jet Black Feathers. Awarded to Xillia's finest feather collectors.

Progress on this trophy carries over to a NG+.

For this trophy you’ll need to turn in 459 Jet Black Feathers to the feather trader in Sharilton. You don’t need to use them to buy anything from him. Jet Black Feathers are found virtually everywhere, and usually appear in random treasures, so obtaining them shouldn’t be a problem. You can hold a maximum of 255 feathers, so you don’t have to worry about maxing out on them for a while.

Note that this trophy is loosely tied with the “Jet Black Feathers” sub event. If you’re able to turn in 459 feathers in one playthrough, he will move to Culmar Trail, and you’ll have to find him at the bottom right area to complete the event and turn in the rest of the feathers for the trophy.

However, since progress carries over to a NG+, you don’t necessarily have to finish this sub event for the trophy. If you ended your first playthrough with 400 feathers turned in, on the next playthrough, you only need to turn in 59 feathers to get the trophy, but you won’t get the last part of the “Jet Black Feathers” sub event, as progress on sub events is reset, meaning you’ll need to turn in another 400 feathers to finish the actual sub event.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/135.jpg Item Shop Magnate (B)

Upgrade the item shop to its maximum level. Awarded to the most valued item shop customers.

You can choose to carry over progress on these trophies to a NG+.

You get the Magnate trophies for increasing the respective shop’s level to 100. To upgrade them, you’ll need either gald or materials, which are found from enemy drops or random treasures throughout the world.

Materials come in 7 different types: mineral, plant, beast, bird, fish, bug, and orb. When choosing to expand a shop, there will be a bonus of either x2 or x3 points when a specific type is used to upgrade a shop. This bonus changes over time as you fight battles. You’ll usually want to wait until a shop gets a x3 bonus before upgrading, but upgrading at a x2 bonus is fine if you haven’t upgraded that shop in a while. Note that the orb type will never get a bonus, so feel free to use those materials to upgrade your shops if you have trouble getting x3 bonuses for a certain shop.

In the long term, the only shops that are most useful for maxing are the weapon, armor and accessory shops, as they’ll allow you to fill up your Item Data for the (B) Item Fanatic trophy. The Item and Food Vendor shops offer little benefit past level 50.

If you want to get all the Magnate trophies easily, you can choose to level up the shops normally until they all hit around level 60, then hoard your materials until you get a x3 bonus for that shop. If that happens, save your game and go all out by donating all your materials and gald to one shop and you should be able to max that one. Reload your save and repeat until you have all of the trophies.

You can also wait until NG+ and choose to inherit your shop levels, materials, and pick the double material growth bonus. Once you have these carried over, you should have no problem getting each shop to level 100 through saving/reloading.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/A39.jpg Monster Exterminator (B)

Achieve a target number of enemy encounters. Awarded to those who live for combat.

Progress on this trophy carries over to a NG+.

For this trophy, you’ll need to accumulate 800 enemy encounters across all playthroughs. Escaping encounters does count towards this trophy. You’ll most likely get this by the time you finish everything in your first playthrough, but if not, it will definitely come during NG+.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/629.jpg Specialist in Rare Monsters (B)

Defeat a target number of rare monsters. Awarded to those with a knack for monster hunting.

Progress on this trophy carries over to a NG+.

You need to defeat 75 rare enemies for this trophy. There are two types of rare enemies: a stronger version of a regular enemy identified with a yellow warning sign above their heads, and a Bacura, which appears as a rotating brick. Bacuras will attempt to flee from you if they see you, but you can use a Dark Bottle to make them come to you instead.

It's unlikely that you'll meet 75 rare monsters normally as you play the game, so you'll have to farm them. It's recommended to do this during NG+, as rare monsters also provide more experience than regular encounters, which will help in attaining the level 99 trophies.

The best way to farm them is to warp to Sapstrath Deepwood SW, then move back and forth between Sapstrath Deepwood - SW Region and Sapstrath Highroad- SW Region, while checking only the monsters in the Deepwood area. There are always two monsters that spawn near the Deepwood entrance, so you can easily spot the warning icon as you enter. If you see a Bacura or a strong monster, engage them, then continue alternating between the two areas and battling rare monsters if you spot them until you get the trophy (credit to Ryukori for this image).

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/F9B.jpg Combo Artiste (B)

Perform a combo that exceeds a target number of hits. Awarded to those whose combo skills pay the bills.

For this trophy, you’ll need to land at least a 100 hit combo on a single enemy. You’ll want to have the Minimum Damage skill first, which is found from an Aifread treasure on a stalagmite in the western area of the Old Vicalle Mine - North Region. If you also have your Accessory Shop at a level 96 or higher you can buy the Risk Ring which will reduce the cost of all artes to 1 TP otherwise you can set auto items so that your allies will heal you if you get too low on TP (credit to Ryukori for this image).

http://i.imgur.com/dg711lc.png?1

Once you have that, you’ll want to assign Milla’s Sylph to :circle:, then activate the Minimum Damage skill for her. Set everyone else to “Protect Yourself” or "Only Heal" in the Strategy menu, as shown above, then head to Rusalle Highroad, and fight one of the tortoise enemies there. Kill off all enemies but one tortoise, then break any partner links you have and lure the turtle to the edge of the battlefield and just keep pressing :circle: to spam Sylph. You’ll easily be able to get 100 hits this way. You can also do this without the Minimum Damage skill, but you'll probably need to set the difficulty to Unknown and equip your weakest weapon on Milla.

Here is a video showing how to get 200 hits with this method, which is enough to get all combo-related titles.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/469.jpg Sadist (B)

Exploit an enemy's weakness a target number of times. Awarded to those who know how to hit where it hurts.

Progress on this trophy carries over to a NG+.

For this trophy, you’ll have to hit an enemy’s weakness 1350 times. You’ll know you’ve done this when you see red text saying “POWER HIT” pop up. You can hold :r1: to view an enemy’s weaknesses, and use an arte with the appropriate element. You should be able to get this naturally as you play the game, and it will come faster if you use characters with plenty of elemental artes like Milla or Rowen (credit to Ryukori for this image).

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/5A5.jpg Leader of Links (B)

Perform a target number of linked artes. Awarded to those who understand the value of teamwork.

Progress on this trophy carries over to a NG+.

For this trophy you’ll need to perform 1350 linked artes. To do this you’ll first need to be linked with somebody, then use artes or Link Partner skills to fill the bar to the left. Once one blue segment is filled, you’ll see it flashing gold, which means you can perform one. Use a compatible arte then press :r2: to initiate the linked arte. You can check which artes will produce linked artes with your current partner by checking the Artes menu in battle. There will be a green icon after the name of any compatible artes.

While 1350 linked artes may seem like a lot, you can easily use one whenever a Linked Partner skill is performed, as it will basically fill up an entire blue bar, and if you utilize linked arte chains when you can use them, you’ll be able to get this trophy by the time you finish everything in your first playthrough. See (B) Forger of Chains for more info on linked arte chains.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/E65.jpg Forger of Chains (B)

Perform a target number of linked arte chains. Awarded to those who strive for battle perfection.

Progress on this trophy carries over to a NG+.

For this trophy you’ll need to do 450 linked arte chains. Each linked arte chain will also count towards the 1350 linked artes for (B) A Leader of Links. A linked arte chain can only be done when the bar on the left is completely filled. It will then turn yellow. When it does, perform a linked arte, which will activate Overlimit. While in Overlimit, the bar will start draining, and you’ll be able to chain linked artes by activating a linked arte that’s different from the one you just used as the current linked arte is about to finish. Note that you must use different linked artes in a chain otherwise you’ll break it.

The easiest way to do this is to have a Milla/Jude Link Partner setup. If they have the Over Extension 1, 2, and 3 skills be sure to activate those. You’ll also want to have the Artes Sphere, which can be found by turning in 100 Jet Black Feathers to the feather trader. Depending on who you’re using, you’ll want to set any 8 of the following skills. You can view the current Link Artes you have by press :r2: at the Artes Menu and pressing :select: to filter it by character.

If using Milla

  • Rock Trine
  • Wind Lance
  • Cyclone
  • Fireball
  • Blade Torrent
  • Bolt Strike/Thunder Blade
  • Binding Sphere
  • Flame Ring
  • Shining Prism/Divine Streak
  • Shimmer Spin
  • Whirling Assault

If using Jude

  • Demon Fist
  • Cerberus Strike
  • Palm Strike

Now when the bar turns yellow in battle, you’ll want to use :circle: to use an arte, then press :r2: to activate Overlimit. While the animation for the first linked arte is playing, you’ll want to keep pressing  + :circle: to chain the next linked arte, then :lsleft: or :lsright: + :circle: to chain the next one, and so on, going down the list until you run out of artes to chain or Overlimit ends. Using this, you can easily get 7 or 8 chains per Overlimit.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/6BA.jpg Skilled Delegator (B)

Utilize Auto-Items a target number of times. Awarded to team leaders who know how to delegate.

Progress on this trophy carries over to a NG+.

Auto-Items allows you to let your AI partners use healing items under certain conditions. For this trophy, the AI needs to use 400 items. To configure Auto-Items, go to Strategy in the menu, then press :start:. You’ll be taken to the screen shown below.

You can set the items and conditions to however you see fit, but you’ll want to set restrictions to “Until 0 items left”. You’ll also want to press :triangle: in battle and make sure Auto-Items is set to ON. Now the AI will start using items automatically. The most important thing to keep in mind is to check up on your stockpile of healing items every now and then and replenish it if supplies are low, as it will make this trophy come faster.

You can also obtain Item Sphere Pluses from completing the following sub events:

  • Travel Protection
  • Orange Soup
  • Potent Potions of the Kitarl Clan

These will allow you to set an additional item in Auto-Items for each Item Sphere Plus you have, making for a maximum of 8 items you can set.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/7C6.jpg Sous Chef (B)

Trigger a target number of food effects. Awarded to those with an affinity for fine cuisine.

Progress on this trophy carries over to a NG+.

Trigger 800 food effects to get this trophy. You’ll be able to buy food from the food vendor after you complete your first request in Aladhi Seahaven. To trigger a food effect, you simply need to use a food item from the Items menu and win a battle. Each food lasts for a set amount of battles, and you’ll get a window during the victory screen that shows the food effect being activated. You can also check how many more battles the currently active food will last by going to the menu. At the bottom right there’ll be a yellow icon that will give you this number.

It’s best to start this trophy the moment you’re able to buy food. Buy every kind of food available, and be sure to use another food item when the current one runs out. Use the yellow icon in the menu or the window at the victory screen to figure out when you need to use another one. The characters will mention how hungry they are as well as a reminder that you don’t have any food active and this happens almost immediately after any active food you have runs out. As long as you keep a food effect active for about 90% of your battles, and have a good stock of food at all times, you should have no trouble getting this trophy during your first playthrough.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/61E.jpg Snap Pivot Adept (B)

Perform Jude's Snap Pivot a set number of times. Awarded to those who've mastered Jude in battle.

Progress on this trophy carries over to a NG+.

While controlling Jude, hold :square:, and as an enemy is about to attack, tilt the left stick away from the direction Jude’s facing, and he’ll do a backstep. If he dodges an enemy’s attack through this, he’ll suddenly teleport behind an enemy. This is a Snap Pivot. Do this 150 times for the trophy.

This one will most likely have to be grinded out, as it’s a bit tricky to pull off during normal play. Before you grind these, go to Strategy → Action and set everyone to “Protect Yourself’. Now enter Sapstrath Highroad SW and enter a battle with the boar enemies. When in battle be sure not to link with anyone. Now, leave one boar alive and have Jude perform Snap Pivots on it. The boar’s attacks are very easy to read and it attacks frequently so you should have no trouble getting 150 Snap Pivots.

If you are doing this during your end game portion of the game having the skills Snap Pivot 1, 2 and 3 can help with your trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/436.jpg Spirit Shift Adept (B)

Perform Milla's Spirit Shift a set number of times. Awarded to those who've mastered Milla in battle.

Progress on this trophy carries over to a NG+.

Tap :circle: instead of holding it when using Milla’s artes. If done correctly, you’ll perform an arte whose name is different from the original arte (e.g. Fireball becomes Flare Bomb and Wind Lance becomes Wind Blade). This is Spirit Shifting an arte. Do this 150 times for the trophy. This will likely come naturally if you control Milla in battle a lot.

If you don’t use Milla throughout the game, and need to grind this out during the end game portion of your playthrough, you can use the skill Minimum Damage and accessory Risk Ring as mentioned under (B) Combo Artiste to grind this out against weaker enemies. Set an arte to :circle: and just keep pressing :circle: until you get your 150 uses. Her skills such as Free Shift, Stable Shift and Conservative Shift will help you with the trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/98C.jpg Charge Adept (B)

Perform Alvin's Charge a set number of times. Awarded to those who've mastered Alvin in battle.

Progress on this trophy carries over to a NG+.

After Alvin performs an arte, hold :circle: and he will charge his weapon, causing it to glow white. Do this 150 times for the trophy. It will still count if you perform another Charge while his weapon is currently in the Charged state. You can work on this trophy as you play by controlling Alvin for regular battles and periodically performing Charges.

If you don’t use Alvin throughout the game, and need to grind this out during the end game portion of your playthrough, you can use the skill Minimum Damage, and accessory Risk Ring as mentioned under (B) Combo Artiste to grind this out against weaker enemies.

If you have any of the following skills for Alvin be sure to have them equipped to help you with this trophy:

  • Charge Plus 1, 2 and 3
  • Sustained Charge
  • Speed Charge

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/0DC.jpg Teepo Switching Adept (B)

Perform Elize's Teepo Switching a set number of times. Awarded to those who've mastered Elize in battle.

Progress on this trophy carries over to a NG+.

When Elize taunts an opponent, Teepo will switch between an ON and OFF state. Do this 150 times for the trophy. This is an easy trophy to get, as all you have to do is control Elize during battles and hold :l3:. You can easily work on this while battling regular enemies. Make sure not to activate the skill Morale Support as it will prevent the use of Teepo Switching.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/D1C.jpg Arte Tuning Adept (B)

Perform Rowen's Arte Tuning a set number of times. Awarded to those who've mastered Rowen in battle.

Progress on this trophy carries over to a NG+.

When Rowen uses an arte, you can influence the arte by pressing :circle: or moving the left stick. Do this 150 times for the trophy. A few examples on what you need to do for some artes are:

  • Fireball, Air Pressure and Rock Trine- keep tapping :circle:
  • Splash, Roche Waltz - move left stick

You can work towards this trophy naturally by controlling Rowen during battles, and using artes all the time, while tapping :circle: and continuously moving the left stick while he’s performing an arte.

If you don’t use Rowen throughout the game, and need to grind this out during the end game portion of your playthrough, you can use the skill Minimum Damage and accessory Risk Ring as mentioned under (B) Combo Artiste to grind this out against weaker enemies. Alternatively, you can use the Mystic Symbol to reduce the casting timing by 30% and have your partners supply you with TP via auto item.

Also be sure to have the following skills turned on as they help a little with this trophy:

  • Reduction
  • Absolute Reduction
  • Conservation
  • Grace
  • Conductor 1, 2 and 3

Be sure you don’t have Abrupt Cast equipped, as it won’t allow you to do Arte Tuning (this is in one of the last slots from Rowens Lilium Orb so you shouldn’t worry though).

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/369.jpg Elongating Staff Adept (B)

Perform Leia's Elongating Staff a set number of times. Awarded to those who've mastered Leia in battle.

Progress on this trophy carries over to a NG+.

When Leia avoids an enemy attack through backstepping, her staff will extend and glow white. Do this 150 times for the trophy. You can still dodge through backstepping while the staff is in its extended state, and it will still count. You’ll hear a chime to let you know you’ve done it correctly.

As with Jude’s Snap Pivot, this trophy is better off grinded. Since activating Elongating Staff is virtually the same as activating Jude’s Snap Pivot, the method for grinding this trophy is exactly the same as (B) Snap Pivot Adept.

Refer to the video below for how this is done.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQTbE_SBQSE]Tales of Xillia: Elongating Staff Adept Trophy[/ame]

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/C5D.jpg Yeoman Healer (B)

Witness Jude's Restore skill a set number of times. Awarded to those who partner well with Jude.

Progress on this trophy carries over to a NG+.

Use Jude’s Restore skill 150 times for this trophy.

Restore is Jude’s Link Partner Skill. When you’re knocked down while linked with Jude, he will teleport to you and use Restore to get you back up. Most bosses have a tendency to knock you down so if you have Jude as your Link Partner during those fights you can get these easily.

Power type enemies such as treants, stallions, scorpions, and boars also frequently knock you down, so link with Jude when fighting these enemy types.

The Golden Mage Knight bonus boss also has a tendency to knock you down a lot. As the fight can last a while, linking with Jude during this battle should get you plenty of Restore uses.

If you still need this after wrapping everything else up, equip the Minimum Damage skill on everyone then head to Magnus Zero and fight one of the aforementioned enemy types while linked with Jude, and you should be able to get 150 Restores over time.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/F93.jpg Skilled Binder (B)

Witness Milla's Bind skill a set number of times. Awarded to those who partner well with Milla.

Progress on this trophy carries over to a NG+.

Bind is Milla’s Link Partner skill, and she’ll randomly use it when she and her Link Partner surround an enemy. She’ll need to use it 150 times for the trophy. Milla is more likely to use Bind on stunned enemies and Speed-type enemies such as wolves, hawks, and bats, so link with Milla when these enemy types are present. You’ll want to make sure both of you are on opposite sides of the enemy, then start attacking it with :cross: and eventually Milla will use Bind.

Torbalan Highroad and Nala Lava Tubes have plenty of Speed-type enemies, so consider linking with Milla when visiting these areas. If you’re grinding this out during end game having Minimum Damage equipped to the character you’re controlling and Milla will help efficiently grind out your numbers.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/30A.jpg Deft Breaker (B)

Witness Alvin's Breaker skill a set number of times. Awarded to those who partner well with Alvin.

Progress on this trophy carries over to a NG+.

When an enemy is guarding, and Alvin is currently linked with somebody, he will use Breaker to break their guard. He’ll need to do this 150 times. Simply link with Alvin whenever you see an enemy guarding and you should have no trouble getting this.

Guard-type enemies such as dragons, crabs, golems, and tortoises tend to guard a lot, so fight these enemies while linked with Alvin to get 150 Breakers easily. Magnus Zero has plenty of these enemy types. If you’re grinding this out during end game having Minimum Damage equipped to the character you’re controlling and Alvin will help efficiently grind out your numbers.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/319.jpg Soul Drainer (B)

Witness Elize's Teepo Drain skill a set number of times. Awarded to those who partner well with Elize.

Progress on this trophy carries over to a NG+.

Teepo Drain is Elize’s Link Partner skill, and she’ll use it when you’re low on TP. She'll need to do this 150 times. You can get this easily by using artes that use a lot of TP and linking up with Elize when your TP is low. You’ll know Teepo Drain is being performed when you hear Elize yell “Go, Teepo!”, followed by “Sharing is caring!”

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/4BE.jpg Spirit Guardian (B)

Witness Rowen's Auto Magic Guard skill a set number of times. Awarded to those who partner well with Rowen.

Progress on this trophy carries over to a NG+.

Auto Magic Guard is Rowen’s Link Partner skill, and he’ll use it automatically when an enemy casts a spell. He’ll need to do this 150 times for the trophy. You can easily tell when an enemy is going to cast a spell when you see a magic circle form around them. Link with Rowen whenever you see this happen, and you’ll have no trouble getting this. Magnus Zero has harpy and djinn type enemies, which frequently cast spells and is ideal if you wish to farm for this trophy.

The Golden Mage Knight bonus boss also uses magic frequently, so consider bringing Rowen during this fight, and linking with him whenever you see the boss casting a spell.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/EBE.jpg Career Thief (B)

Witness Leia's Item Steal skill a set number of times. Awarded to those who partner well with Leia.

Progress on this trophy carries over to a NG+.

Steal is Leia’s Link Partner skill, and she will use it on an enemy that is currently knocked down. Use artes that knock enemies down like Jude’s Aqua Sweep and Milla’s Flare Bomb (Spirit Shifted Fireball) while linked with Leia and this should come easily. Stealing when escaping does not count. Having the skill Steal Plus on Leia also helps your chances towards this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/2F7.jpg Black Belt (S)

Learn a target number of Jude's artes and skills. Awarded to those who have mastered Jude in battle.

You can choose to carry over progress on these trophies to a NG+.

For these trophies, you need the respective character to reach level 99, and max their Lilium Orb. Skills and artes obtained from tomes will NOT count towards these trophies. Because leveling becomes slow after level 80, it’s advised to save these trophies for NG+, where you’ll have access to the 10x experience from the grade shop. With this boost, even starting from level 1, you should be able to reach at least level 90 after the final boss as long as you remember to have a Spicy Chicken Roll food effect (100% more exp) active for every battle you fight.

To be more efficient with these trophies, you should attempt (B) Specialist in Rare Monsters and the coliseum for (B) Enemy Sage during NG+, as these will also provide good experience while simultaneously working on other trophies.

If you still need to get to level 99 after beating the game and finishing up all the other trophies, you can fight battles in Tatalian Abyss while having the Spicy Chicken Roll active and equipping Demon’s Seals on anybody who isn’t level 99, however keep in mind the negative side effects that Demon’s Seals will bring.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1629/6EB.jpg World's Greatest Warrior (G)(H)

Defeat the Golden Mage Knight. Awarded to the world's most formidable fighters!

To fight the Golden Mage Knight you must first meet two criteria:

  • Obtain the Golden Key (Rewarded to you for beating the game)
  • Obtain all the Devil Arm weapons

Once you meet this criteria you will be able to access to the area where you can fight the Golden Mage Knight.

Devil Beasts and Devil Arm Weapons

Early in the game you will encounter an older gentlemen sitting on some barrels in Sapstrath Seahaven, he will tell you of the history behind the Golden Mage Knight and the Devil Beasts whom hold the Devil Arm weapons on their bodies. Check each of their locations as listed below and defeat each of them for the respective Devil Arm:

  • Dranzort (Tatalian Abyss, bottommost floor)
  • Folzam (Bermia Gorge - Northwest Region, just before the entrance to the NE region, climb some vines and it’ll be at the top)
  • Schweiss (Xailen Woods center area, use Temple Entrance to reach it quicker)
  • Gatrega (Xagut Floodmeadow, take the bottom left entrance from the NE region)
  • Melanbron (Helioborg Fortress, area where you fought Volt)
  • Roparde (Old Vicalle Mine, first western area)

You can fight most of the Devil Beasts early on in the game (aside from some such as Millas and Rowens), however it is heavily advised that you wait to fight these bosses during post game when you are properly developed with higher levels and better equipment, as they are a huge threat even on the easiest difficulty. When you do fight them, exploit their weaknesses and have two party members (Elize and Leia work well) sitting on the sidelines set to “Only Heal”.

After defeating all of the Devil Beasts, report back to the old man in Sapstrath Seahaven, which will trigger the portal to Magnus Zero which will be located in Fezebel Marsh. Before heading into Magnus Zero, stock up on life recovery items and Hourglass items if they are available for purchase from your item shop, as they will be very essential to the coming boss fight.

Magnus Zero

Magnus Zero brings you to an alternate world that transports you through various fields and cities that you will very familiar with. This area is good for Loot and Treasure chests if you are still in need of their respective trophies as well as leveling up. Be wary of some of the enemies, as one of them as the ability to petrify a party member as well as duplicate itself, fighting one isn’t so bad however when the field is filled with them it becomes a problem.

If you’re looking to go straight to the Golden Mage Knight, you can skip all the enemies and go through each portal moving forward, once you reach what looks to be the top of a cliff from Bermia Gorge, save at the save point and prepare yourself for a tough battle.

Fighting the Golden Mage Knight

Before going through the portal to face the Golden Mage Knight, make sure you have a good team set up you are comfortable with. If you are unsure of what to set, and who to use a good setup to have is the team Milla, Jude, Leia and Elize. You will control Milla while linked to Jude, and make use of his Restore ability. You will get knocked down a lot, and this will be a great way to build up the Overlimit gauge faster for more link artes and Overlimit. Not only that, Jude has a chance of resurrecting you if you were to get K.O’d via his Restore ability, easily one of the best partners to have for this fight. Meanwhile, you want Leia and Elize to prioritize healing; make sure they are set to “Only Heal” and “Do Not Link”, so that they effectively do their job.

Next check your equipment for anything useful you can capitalize on such as the following:

  • Faerie Ring (Reduces TP cost)
  • Mystic Symbol/Emblem (Reduces Casting Time)
  • Krona Symbol (Prevents status ailments)
  • Affinity Stone (Link Artes Gauge fills faster)

If you don’t have these items in your accessory shop, don’t worry, as they are not a necessity but they do help nonetheless. Finally, make sure you artes shortcut to Milla that all link with Jude as well as one for the Mystic Arte, such as Overdrive.

Going into the fight the Golden Mage Knight really isn’t that hard; however it has rock hard defense and a lot of health, so you’ll be at it for a while. When he gets to phase two and duplicates himself, you want to keep focus on one Knight, and then take out the other afterwards. Finally the phase that really makes this fight difficult is the third phase where he splits in three; at this point it feels like he received a damage boost, and strong artes that could cause confusion to your party members.

At this phase, you want to spam your Hourglass items, and at least try to take out one of the three Knights before you run out of stock to lessen the trouble in this fight. Once you take out one of them, the fight is pretty easy from then on, but still be careful about your party members getting hit with confusion, as that can ruin the entire fight for you (if it does happen switch to a party member who isn’t confused and use an item to cure everyone one by one; if Elize hasn’t be afflicted then you can relay on her to use Dispel).

Throughout the fight, your offensive tactic will be to build Link Artes Gauge, reach Overlimit, chain your Link Artes, and then leave enough time to use a Mystic Arte. Recycling this tactic is sure to win you the fight in no time.

General Advice

  • Don’t forget to keep food effects on for every battle. If you don’t see a window indicating a food effect was activated at the end of a battle, you’ll need to go use another food item from the menu.
  • As you’re playing the story, you’ll want to control Alvin, Rowen, Elize, and Milla at some point and work on their battle action trophies during regular encounters. These battle actions can be performed while the AI does its thing. Not only does it save you the need to grind these trophies endgame, you’ll also be simultaneously working towards (B) Monster Exterminator and (B) Sous Chef.
  • Elize and Leia’s Link Partner skill trophies are very easy to get, as they can be done on just about any enemy encounter. It’s in your best interest to start working on these trophies as soon as you get the respective characters in your party, so you can focus on the more specialized Link Partner skill trophies.
  • Linking with Jude and Rowen is recommended during boss battles, as bosses have a tendency to knock you down and use magic.
  • If the AI uses a Link Partner skill, it WILL count towards the Link Partner skill usage trophies, so under Strategy, set your party members to “Link Often”, and they might even get these trophies for you by themselves!
  • Whenever you get new healing items, don’t forget to set them under Auto-Item.
  • Whenever you see a strong monster or a Bacura, make it a priority to battle them, as rare monsters are hard to come by, and the more you encounter, the less farming you’ll have to do at the end.

Inherit shop levels is actually 1000 grade so you have an extra 1000 to work with. I've marked my suggestions in red.

I don't know what your long-term goals are for this game, but if you just want the platinum, you only really need the bonuses recommended in the roadmap. What you've already chosen is more than enough to get you by. I don't know how effective double damage or triple crit is, but bosses die fast enough without them during NG+ that it isn't really necessary.

Do the materials for leveling up shops have any other use or can u only use them for leveling the shops ?

When i level shops i save at least 10 of each material just in case.

Only other use they have are for sub event request items and even then, they only ask for a single one so if you save just 1, you'll be fine.
