Introduction

The sequel to the little-known Superstars V8 Racing provides a much needed overhaul to that game. The loading time are greatly improved and that is reflected in the approximate time to (P). I have estimated the time to be 10-20 hours. In truth, the players more familiar with the series may be able to attain the platinum before 10 hours. But some of the Superstar Licenses will prove to be quite tricky for the average player so it stands at 10-20.

The minimum number of playthroughs needed isn’t entirely clear by looking through the trophy list. To collect all of the in-game prizes and earn the “Collector” trophy you will need to win a championship on each of the four difficulties. This is a very easy game and the shorter loading times will help you complete longer playing sessions without getting frustrated.

Also for the “Superhuman Collector” trophy you will have to complete objectives that do not always run parallel to the trophy list. Of course, I will cover those in this roadmap aswell.

Note: All of the tips here are based around penalties being disabled. It goes without saying that with them switched off the game will be considerably easier so make sure they are off before you start your championship or race weekend.

Step 1: Superstars Licenses

Before you start with the races I would suggest attempting to complete all of the Superstars Licenses to an ‘S’ evaluation for the "We don't need no education" trophy. The benefits of this are that the challenges will ease you into the game and help you familiarize yourself with the driving and handling mechanics. None of these challenges are particularly taxing and you will most likely be able to complete many of them on your first attempt. The ones that will in all likelihood cause you frustration are the ones that you have to complete with none of the driving aids enabled. Manual transmission is something that won’t faze many gamers. But for the occasional player it can be quite confusing to get to grips with all of the thought processes needed to win the race.

When you do attempt the challenges where manual is enabled, the best tip I can give you is to listen to the car’s engine. If you can hear it revving like it can’t rev anymore then now is the best time to press :cross: and change gear. Going into the corners press :circle: before making the turn to get it down to either gear 3 or gear 2 depending on the sharpness of the bend so you can accelerate quicker coming out. If you struggle to get the hang of it just practice and you will soon be driving like a pro.

Once you’ve completed all of the Licenses, you will no longer have to race using the manual gearbox, unless you want to of course.

Step 2: Championships

This step will require you to complete four championships. Remember for the "Superhuman Collector" trophy you will need to unlock everything in the game. Racing one championship for each of the difficulties will net you a 'Cup' for each difficulty you win one on. Make sure that for each of the four championships you use a different team. This will help unlock some of the Race Videos. It is worth knowing that to unlock the locked track, Valencia, you will have to win an official championship. That is, race 9 venues, the same as Superstars race calendar.

By default the official championship is already chosen for you once you load up the ‘Championship’ mode. You can change any other settings like ‘Race Options’, ‘Realism Settings’ and ‘Driving Aids’. To make that championship quicker you should focus on gaining maximum points from 6 of the 9 venues making you mathematically safe for the win. But to be sure, click on ‘Stats’ and ‘Championship Standings’ when you’re in the pit to check on the results. I would suggest completing that championship first, on ‘Easy’ to claim your first difficulty Cup, the "New Champion" trophy and getting the longest championship out of the way. The order that you do the championships in next is totally up to you, but bear in mind that for the trophies “Clockwise” and “Anticlockwise” you have to win a championship using the specified venues. Also make sure to qualify first in every race for at least one championship. The medium championship will be the best to do that in as the difficulty rise is so minor that it is unnoticeable. After you’ve done all of the above, the championships section is done and you can move onto the online trophies.

Step 3: Online

For the third step we will be attempting the online trophies. I would suggest posting a request for a boosting partner in the boosting thread Here to get the three online trophies out of the way fast. The online trophies "Direct confrontation", "Delayed confrontation" and "Enduring confrontation" you will need to win a Quick Race, Time Attack and a Championship respectively.

To start an Online Championship, Online Time Attack or Online Quick Race, first go onto ‘Multiplayer’ then click on the mode you want to join, for example 'Championship'. From here you can ‘Create Match’ if you’re the host or click ‘Custom Match’ if you want to join. If you’re the host, start by selecting specific settings that your partner can search for. Once you are both paired you can press :square: to customize the race settings. When you’re doing the online championship you can reduce the amount of races from the :square: button as well.

Step 4: Quick Races & Mop Up

For the final step you will just have a lot of miscellaneous trophies to complete which require you to win on certain tracks, or with certain cars. So start quick races to knock out all of those as quickly as possible. Remember, race with different teams to claim these trophies as you need to rack up 5 wins with all of them to unlock the Race Videos.

Once you have completed all the trophies mentioned above, and have followed all of the above tips and have only the collector trophies left until platinum, go to the main menu and click on ‘Extras’. Here you can search through all of the prizes, pictures and videos you need to unlock. Complete the given objectives and you will have your “Superhuman Collector” trophy and platinum in no time.

Thanks for reading my guide. Remember to post your tips to help me make this guide better.

Trophy Guide

02.jpg Been There, Done That...(B)

Complete a race on every track of the game.

To earn this trophy you will just need to win one race on every track in the game. This doesn’t include the unlockable track, Valencia. You can keep track of all the track cups you have won by going to ‘Extras’ then ‘Prizes’ and click on ‘Cups’ and there you will find the cups you can unlock and the requirements to do so.

03.jpg Not a rookie anymore(B)

Complete a Single Player Championship.

To fulfill the requirements of the trophy “Collector” you will have to win four championships on each of the difficulties, ‘Easy’, ‘Medium’, ‘Hard’ and ‘Legend’. Winning those will give you prizes that appear in your pit. When the time comes when you want to start your first championship be sure to keep track of the difficulty because you don’t want to race any more than 4.

In Superstars V8 Next Challenge, you can now customize your championships to reduce the amount of venues there are, with the minimum being 3. Set up a simple championship and complete it to unlock this trophy.

04.jpg Almost There(B)

Win a Single Player Race on Hard Difficulty.

As explained above in “Not a rookie anymore” you will have to win a championship on each of the four difficulties. So when you’re winning the ‘Hard’ championship this will unlock on the first race.

If you want to try to get it early on though, just set up a 1 lap ‘Quick Race’ on your favorite track using your favorite car making sure to set the difficulty to ‘Hard’ to get this one.

05.jpg I did it for Race 2(B)

Arrive 8th in Race 1.

The creators of the Superstars tournaments have changed the format for this year. There are now two races in one weekend. What's more are the top eight drivers in Race 1 reverse position on the grid. So to clarify, the driver who finished first in Race 1 is now placed eighth on the grid for Race 2 and the eighth place driver is now in pole position in first. 2nd goes to 7th, 3rd goes to 6th and so on.

For this trophy you will need to finish in exactly 8th place in Race 1 of your Championship or Race Weekend thus sending you to 1st for the next race. It’s simple enough to do. Set up a Race Weekend on your favorite track and to make it quicker skip the session forward to Race 1. You will start the race in 19th so just work your way up to 8th and hold your position for the remainder of the race.

06.jpg King for a Day(B)

Gain 43 points in a single Championship weekend.

For the races in the championship weekends you are awarded 21 points if you finish first. There are two races so two first place finishes will bring your total to 42. The extra bonus point is awarded if you win the qualifying round by posting the fastest time. Giving you 43 points.

07.jpg A step forward(B)

Win a Single Player Race on Medium Difficulty.

You will have to win a championship on each of the four difficulties. So when you’re winning the ‘Medium’ championship this will unlock on the first race.

If you want to try to get it early on though, just set up a 1 lap ‘Quick Race’ on your favorite track using your favorite car making sure to set the difficulty to ‘Medium’ to get this one.

08.jpg Introduce yourself(B)

Win the first race in a Single Player Championship.

This one is simple because if you want to win championships and claim the platinum trophy you will have to win your races. Set up a championship and customize it to your needs with your favorite tracks. Be sure to go into ‘Realism Settings’ and disable penalties which will make winning on the higher difficulties considerably easier.

09.jpg New Furniture(B)

Unlock a prize in the Pit.

Prizes are awarded for completing specific goals throughout the game. You will get your first one after you win your first race.

See “Collector” for more information.

10.jpg Four Circles(B)

Win a Race with the Audi RS4.

Set up a one lap Quick Race on a short track like ‘Varano’. Set your starting position in the ‘Race Options’ to 1 and the opponent level to easy. Enable all the Driving Aids and disable penalties in ‘Realism Settings’. From here it should be a walk in the park to win with the Audi.

To unlock the race videos which contribute towards the “Collector” trophy you will have to win 5 races with every team so once you’ve finished the one lap race you may as well do 4 more wins to claim that teams race video.

11.jpg Direct confrontation(B)

Win an Online Quick Race.

No longer obtainable due to server shutdown.

To start an online quick race first go onto ‘Multiplayer’ then click on ‘Quick Race’. From here you can ‘Create Match’ if you’re the host or click ‘Custom Match’ if you want to join. I would suggest finding a boosting partner in the boosting thread Here as there are very few people online.

If you’re the host, start by selecting specific settings that your partner can search for. Once you are both paired you can press :square: to customize the settings and choose your cars.

12.jpg Roaring victory(B)

Win a Race with the Jaguar.

Set up a one lap Quick Race on a short track like ‘Varano’. Set your starting position in the ‘Race Options’ to 1 and the opponent level to easy. Enable all the Driving Aids and disable penalties in ‘Realism Settings’. From here it should be a walk in the park to win with the Jaguar.

To unlock the race videos which contribute towards the “Collector” trophy you will have to win 5 races with every team so once you’ve finished the one lap race you may as well do 4 more wins to claim that teams race video.

13.jpg Delayed confrontation(B)

Win an Online Time Attack race.

No longer obtainable due to server shutdown.

To start an online Time Attack race first go onto ‘Multiplayer’ then click on ‘Time Attack’.

14.jpg First Lesson(B)

Take your first Licenses exam.

For this trophy you just need to pass any license to any grade. The easiest one to do is the ‘Driving School’.

See “We don't need no education” for more information on the licenses.

15.jpg Back to school(B)

Complete Driving School.

‘Driving School’ is the easiest of the Licenses to pass. All you need to do for this trophy is complete it and not worrying about the grade.

See “We don't need no education” for more information.

16.jpg The strongest rookie ever(B)

Win a wet Race at Imola with Martini.

Simply set up a Quick Race, set the track to ‘Imola’ and put your driver as Martini. Before you start the race though go into ‘Race Options’ and switch the weather to ‘Wet’. Everything else is up to you. To make it easier you can set your starting position on the grid to 1st and disable penalties so you can cut through the chicanes and easily win.

17.jpg When I kissed the teacher(B)

Complete the Racing School.

The ‘Racing School’ licenses really ramp up the difficulty compared to ‘Driving School’. Be prepared to do some hard racing to get the S rating. Luckily, to get this trophy you only need to pass the challenges.

See “We don't need no education” for more information.

18.jpg Silver Arrow(B)

Win a Race with the Mercedes C63 AMG.

Set up a one lap Quick Race on a short track like ‘Varano’. Set your starting position in the ‘Race Options’ to 1 and the opponent level to easy. Enable all the Driving Aids and disable penalties in ‘Realism Settings’. From here it should be a walk in the park to win with the Mercedes.

To unlock the race videos which contribute towards the “Collector” trophy you will have to win 5 races with every team so once you’ve finished the one lap race you may as well do 4 more wins to claim that teams race video.

19.jpg Lazy Mechanic(B)

Complete at least a lap using every in-game preset.

For this trophy you need to set your car up using the presets and simply race one full lap. This trophy cannot be done on Time Attack mode so the only modes you can do it on are Championship and Race Weekend.

To set up a preset first start off at the pit before a race. This can be done on any of the sessions from ‘Free Practice’ to ‘Race 2’. Scroll down to ‘Car Settings’ and click on ‘Presets’. There you will have a choice of 7 settings to adjust your car to. They are:

- Qualifying Setting

- Race Setting

- High Speed Setting

- Reactive System Setting

- Fast Turning Setting

- Long Curves Setting

- Acceleration Setting

Select one of those and then take your car out to the track. Once you’ve done the lap you can return to the pit and repeat using another one until you have completed a lap for all of them. After you return to the pit the trophy will pop.

20.jpg Bonus Point(B)

Achieve the fastest lap in a Single Player Championship race.

You should disable penalties before you start the championship as this trophy will be considerably easier. To gain an advantage over your opponents, cut corners at every opportunity if you believe it will be beneficial to you.

If you’ve cut the corners well you should be well ahead and in turn finish with the fastest lap.

21.jpg Welcome(B)

Finish a Race.

This is up there as one of the easiest trophies in the game. You will have to win loads of races during the course of the game so there should be no need to try for this.

22.jpg Album of the year(S)

Unlock all the pictures in the pit.

To unlock the pictures to place in your pit you will need to win 3 races with your chosen team. There are 13 teams to do this with so to grind out some races you should set up a Quick Race at a short track, for example ‘Varano’ which I was finishing in average 1 minute and 10 seconds.

To claim the “Collector” trophy you will have to win 5 races with every team so while you’re going for this trophy you should grind out a couple more race wins to unlock the ‘Race Videos’.

23.jpg New Champion(S)

Win your first Single Player Championship.

To fulfill the requirements of the trophy, “Collector” you will have to win four championships on each of the difficulties, ‘Easy’, ‘Medium’, ‘Hard’ and ‘Legend’. Winning those will give you prizes that appear in your pit. When the time comes when you want to start your first championship be sure to keep track of the difficulty because you don’t want to race anymore than 4.

In Superstars V8 Next Challenge, you can now customize your championships to reduce the amount of venues there are, with the minimum being 3. Set up a simple championship and win it to unlock this trophy.

24.jpg Algarve Aquapark(S)

Win a Single Player wet race at Portimão on at least Hard Difficulty.

Simply set up a Quick Race, set the track to ‘Portimão’. Before you start the race though go into ‘Race Options’ and switch the weather to ‘Wet’ and make sure the difficulty is on ‘Hard’. Everything else is up to you. To make it easier you can set your starting position on the grid to 1st and put penalties off so you can cut through a lot of the corners and easily win.

25.jpg Bad Setting, good driver(S)

Win a race on Monza setting your wings at maximum inclination.

You will have to attempt this trophy on either the Championship mode or the Race Weekend. I would recommend Race weekend as it is much quicker. When you’re setting up the Race Weekend make sure you disable penalties in the ‘Realism Settings’ because Monza is a very good track to cut corners on to gain massive advantage.

If you cut right over the chicanes you will finish at least 10 seconds ahead of everyone else. When you’re in the pit before the race, scroll down to ‘Car Settings’. Next go down to ‘Wings’ and from here you can adjust it either to the plus or minus, you want the wings at maximum inclination so press right on the d-pad to send the meter right the way over to the plus.

Once you’re done, go out and win the race cutting every corner in sight and this trophy is yours.

26.jpg School's out for summer(S)

Complete Driving Academy.

In the ‘Driving Academy’ the first 4 challenges are the same as the ‘Driving School’. But here it’s a lot more difficult with aids disabled and manual transmission utilized in a couple of challenges. Once you get the hang of manual in different settings you should be well prepared for the final set of challenges.

See “We don't need no education” for more information.

27.jpg Enduring confrontation(S)

Win an Online Championship.

No longer obtainable due to server shutdown.

To start an Online Championship first go onto ‘Multiplayer’ then click on ‘Championship’. From here you can ‘Create Match’ if you’re the host or click ‘Custom Match’ if you want to join. I would suggest finding a boosting partner in the boosting thread Here as there are very few people online.

If you’re the host, start by selecting specific settings that your partner can search for. Once you are both paired you can press :square: to customize the championship with less races if you want and you can also choose your cars here.

28.jpg Graduation Day(S)

Complete Racing Academy.

The most challenging of the Licenses is the ‘Racing Academy’. A positive to be taking out of this section apart from all the trophies you have finished collecting is the fact that you will not have to race with manual again in the game and can fly through the championships and quick races with ease.

See “We don't need no education” for more information.

29.jpg Anticlockwise(S)

Win at Adria, Kyalami and Imola in the same Single Player Championship.

You can now customize your championships to reduce the amount of venues there are, with the minimum being 3. Set up a simple 3 venue championship at ‘Adria’, ‘Kyalami’ and ‘Imola’ and win it to unlock this trophy. To fulfill the requirements of the trophy “Collector” you will have to win four championships on each of the difficulties, ‘Easy’, ‘Medium’, ‘Hard’ and ‘Legend’. Winning those will give you prizes that appear in your pit. So make sure you keep track of all the difficulties you have raced on because you don’t want to have to race more than four championships.

30.jpg Moonwalking(S)

Win a race crossing the line in Reverse.

Set up a Quick Race on the circuit of your choice. Make sure it’s a circuit you’re most comfortable with because you’re going to need a big lead by the end of it to get this trophy. I chose Monza because of the tight chicanes that can be cut over to gain a massive advantage.

If you’re cutting corners though be sure to disable penalties in the ‘Realism Settings’. Then just race the race as normal, building up as big a lead as you can. When you’re coming towards the finish line take your finger off the accelerator and do a hand brake turn using :square: and a direction to spin around. When your car is facing backwards hold :r1: to reverse over the line.

31.jpg Clockwise(S)

Win at Portimão, Vallelunga, Mugello, Monza and Magione in the same Single Player Championship.

You can now customize your championships to reduce the amount of venues there are, with the minimum being 3. Set up a simple 4 venue championship at ‘Portimão’, ‘Vallelunga’, ‘Mugello’, ‘Monza’ and ‘Magione’ and win it to unlock this trophy.

32.jpg Legendary Champion(G)

Win a Single Player Championship at Legend Difficulty.

For the legend championship you are best to make it as short as possible. You can even make a championship with three of the same venues if you like. By far the easiest track to beat legendary opponent is Monza because if you have penalties disabled then you can pass over the first two chicanes without losing any speed.

Set up a Championship with your favorite car, or one that you need wins to help towards unlocking race videos. Then go into ‘Customize Championship’ and set the number of races to 3. Change all of the venues to Monza, or if you want some variety, Imola and Varano are good circuits that you can use to cut corners to your advantage. Next, go into ‘Race Options’ to switch the difficulty to Legend and make sure penalties are off, then you’re good to go. Win the championship to unlock this one.

33.jpg Collector(G)

Unlock all the objects in the Pit.

In your pit there are unlockable objects to display your accomplishments. Each object has specific requirements that you need to complete. You can find out these objectives by going to ‘Extras’ and from here you can choose either ‘Prizes’, ‘Race Pictures’ and ‘Race Videos’.

The ‘Prizes’ are the physical objects you see in the pit. You are awarded ‘Cups’ for winning a race on each of the tracks, and also for winning a championship on each of the four difficulties. ‘Showcase’ is the place where you will find your diplomas for passing the Superstars Licenses and for getting an S evaluation.

In addition there are team photos that you will unlock by winning 1 race for each team. Finally the ‘Relaxation Corner’ holds the miscellaneous objectives. The ones to look out for here are ‘Win 50 races’ and ‘Win a 20 lap race’. You will have to win at least 65 races to unlock team videos so you shouldn’t worry about winning 50 races. The 20 lap race is very long and boring so chose a very short track like Varano and just take your mind off the length by focusing on lapping the opponent and the race will be over before you know it.

To win each ‘Race Picture’ you will have to win 3 races for each of the 13 teams. So just set up quick races on the shortest track, which for me was Varano. While you’re focusing on winning races for that team you should carry on and win a couple more to unlock the ‘Race Videos’.

To get the videos you need to have won 5 races with each of the 13 teams. If you never race a championship with the same team and attempt the miscellaneous trophies with different cars then a lot of the pictures will have already be unlocked.

34.jpg Always in front(G)

Achieve a Pole Position in every race of a championship.

During your first championship you should be aiming to get this one out of the way. Once you have it over and done you can then be free to skip right to the races in future championships. On easy and medium difficulty qualifying laps should still be pretty easy to come first in for the average player without cutting corners so there are two perfect opportunities to claim this trophy.

If you want to try for this trophy or are struggling to get it I would suggest setting up a simple 3 race championship with your favorite car and penalties disabled. Then switch all of the races to Monza as you can cut the chicanes and not lose any speed. Once you’re finished on the third qualifying lap finishing first this trophy will unlock.

35.jpg We don't need no education(G)

Complete all Licenses with an 'S' evaluation.

The Superstar Licenses are the section of the game which provides the most challenge. Having said that, the average racing game fan will be able to do many of them on the first few attempts if not the very first attempt. If you are not comfortable with racing on manual transmission then this is the perfect time to get comfortable.

A few of the challenges feature manual and it can get frustrating at times but with enough practice you will be driving like a pro. The game only lists the requirements for C, B, and A on the loading screen when you first start the challenge so I will provide you with the times for claiming that all important S rating.

The first section of the Licenses is ‘Driving School’. It’s a very easy set of challenges. It’s there to ease you into the game and provide you with some much needed practice around a few of the bends in the game.

Turns- 9 seconds left

Left-Right- 9 seconds left

Braking- 9 seconds left

Overtaking- 1st position with a 3 second gap

Final Test- 9 seconds left

Next you will move onto ‘Racing School’. This next section will bring in a more demanding challenge and pit you against CPU opponents in every part. You will find that there are lots of driving aids disabled and even make you race one challenge in manual transmission.

Head to Head- 1st position with a 3 second gap

Under My Umbrella- 1st position with a 3 second gap

Burnt Rubber- 1st position with a 3 second gap

Demolition Derby- 1st position with a 3 second gap

Final Head to Head- 1st position with a 3 second gap

In the ‘Driving Academy’ the first 4 challenges are the same as the ‘Driving School’. But here it’s a lot more difficult with aids disabled and manual transmission utilized in a couple of challenges. Once you get the hang of manual in different settings you should be well prepared for the final set of challenges.

Turns- 9 seconds left

Left-Right- 9 seconds left

Braking- 9 seconds left

Overtaking- 1st position with a 3 second gap

Degree Test- 9 seconds left

The most challenging of the Licenses is the ‘Racing Academy’. A positive to be taking out of this section, apart from all the trophies you have finished collecting is the fact that you will not have to race with manual again in the game and can fly through the championships and quick races with ease.

Racing for the Podium- 1st position with a 3 second gap

Crippled Black Phoenix- 5th position

Slippery Hills- 1st position with a 3 second gap

We have a problem- 1st position with a 3 second gap

Racing Degree- 1st position with a 5 second gap.

36.jpg Superhuman Collector(G)

Unlock every unlockable item in the game.

For the most part of this trophy it is the same as “Collector”. The only difference in this one is the final unlockable item which is the Valencia circuit. You unlock this circuit by winning an official Superstar V8 championship. This means using the default settings in the Customize Championship menu. You will know that your championship is official because on the top right hand corner of the screen when you’re choosing your settings will be a Superstars V8 logo.

Unfortunately there are 9 venues to race in an official championship. If you win every event up until the 6th you may be able to skip the rest as the championship is mathematically already won. You can use your own settings regarding driving aids and realism settings so it shouldn’t be too hard to finish within 40 minutes.

01.jpg Superstars Hero(P)

Unlock all the Trophies.

Congratulations on your platinum.

The only thing I'd like different is a mention in each of your steps of what trophies you're going for in each one. Otherwise, people may wonder what exactly they're shooting for. However, the guide looks great and it's stuck anyway.

Thanks for your feedback Korix i've altered the roadmap to name a few more trophies.

Hey guys,i finally found someone to do the online races with, but having a problem getting connected. We find each other, goes to loading screen then says unreachable.Any ideas?

Im not sure about that one. What NAT type are you both on? Check it through a connection test on Network settings on your ps3.

Thanks for the reply,i'm NAT type 3 don't know about the other guy.I've got a good wired connection and never had any problems before.I'll just have to keep trying, frustrating though as i only need the online wins.

I think that may be your problem. Nat type 3 means your connection is limited. If the problems persist you may want to think about trying to get it down to type 1.

How do I know what team is associated with which prizes? For example:

It says win 5 races with team 'CAAL', yet I look at the driver selections and there is no 'CAAL' in there. I guessed at chrysler in the end, so i'll see what happens.

From what I remember of the game there is a menu where you can either look at the drivers, or select a driver. The team name is on that page. :)
