    [*]Price: 14.99

Effective June 7th 2011 when you insert a copy of Super Street Fighter IV into the disc drive you will be prompted to install its latest title update which is needed if you wish to purchase the Arcade Edition Patch. They're will also be a free update kit for online matchmaking and spectating purposes but it will not give you anything that you can earn a new trophy off of.

Upon downloading the Arcade Edition update you will notice small difference within the main menu.

As you can see there is now a small logo indicating which version of the game you are currently running. With this change you can now unlock the trophies from the downloadable content and play the game under Arcade Edition settings. If by the off chance you do want to switch back you head to your Options menu and select change version.

After the version change you will notice a change in the logo, instead of a Gold SSFIV AE logo you will have a Silver SSFIV logo.

As far as anything trophy related, the Arcade Edition DLC does not effect any of it except for "From C to Shining C" if you had an progress for this trophy already and do not wish to lose that you can always revert back to the pre-DLC settings to continue that otherwise you must start from scratch. You would expect the trials to change at the very least however they wasn't any new challenges added with this DLC so if you were to enter Trial mode it wouldn't automatically toggle the game into the SSFIV mode.

Arcade Mode (Arcade Edition):

During this step of the Arcade Edition DLC you must clear Arcade mode on medium or higher with each of the DLC characters and finish it without using a continue as well as meet the requirements to face Evil Ryu and Oni. Unless you are confident in your SSFIV AE skills i would hold off on facing Evil Ryu and Oni until after completing Arcade Mode with each of the DLC characters and instead try to face them using other characters you are comfortable with. During this step for any trophy you are going after you want to have the following settings:

  • Rounds (Best of) : 1
  • Timer: 99

With the rounds set to best of 1 it makes it easier clearing all the rounds for the individual trophies for completing it with each character and also reduces the requirements to face Evil Ryu and Oni. During this step i highly advise having a second controller in hand and ready to use in case you are about to lost then you can press :start: on that second controller to save yourself. Because you can't use continues you can't use Zangief or switch to a character you are comfortable with when going for the individual trophies so look under each individual trophy for tips on using that characters as well as tips for defeating Evil Ryu and Oni under their respective trophies. You can earn the following trophies in his step:

(S)

The Awakening

(S)
Birth of the Oni

(B)
Just Enough!

(B)
Up to Snuff

(B)
Overwhelming Power

(B)
Transcendent

Online Mode (Arcade Edition):

This step is relatively simple and takes no effort at all opposed to the previous step. Upon entering the main menu you can easily earn your first trophy by press :r1: and from there selecting a new title and icon from the SSFIV AE selection and then playing in a match online.

The next trophy you only have to go to the leaderboards and look for someone with a high BP (at least 3000 BP is good enough) and select there name, from there press :start: to follow them and earn your trophy. During this step you can earn the following trophies:

(B)

Prep Time

(B)
New Threads

Conclusion:

Super Street Fighter IV is by far the best fighting game to date, no other game as gotten so much attention in tournaments than this game. The trophies given with it are brutal but if you can step up and get the (P) then it is a game you can brag about. It'll take time but when you are done you should also be a polished player of the game.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/347/51.jpg The Awakening (S)

As if you could ever defeat Evil Ryu in Arcade Mode on the hardest difficulty. See for yourself!

WARNING: You do NOT get a continue if you lose to him. So the current character you are using as you go in to fight against him with is the character you must beat him with. Remember to utilize the second controller trick and press :start: with a connected second controller to save yourself from having to redo the entire Arcade mode.

To face Evil Ryu after defeating Seth on the hardest difficulty you must fulfill the following requirements if you are set to 1 Round Settings:

  • No Continues
  • 1 Perfect
  • Defeat Seth with a Ultra/Super combo Finish

Evil Ryu is a pretty predictable opponent but can easily overwhelm with pressure. Two notable move's he uses are Shoryuken and Hadoken. If you are using a character who has an attack that can go through projectiles punish Evil Ryu each time he uses Hadoken. As for Shoryuken, try to bait it out and punish it on block. Evil Ryu can now teleport just as Akuma can and move right behind you so be weary of that. Also if he so happens to fill up his meter bar watch out for his Super Raging Demon.

If you are already skilled enough this battle could probably be a joke to you but to those lacking in skills you may want to be patient when fighting Evil Ryu.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/347/52.jpg Birth of the Oni (S)

To surpass the power of Oni, you must defeat him in Arcade Mode on the hardest setting.

WARNING: You do NOT get a continue if you lose to him. So the current character you are using as you go in to fight against him with is the character you must beat him with. Remember to utilize the second controller trick and press :start: with a connected second controller to save yourself from having to redo the entire Arcade mode.

To face Oni after defeating Seth on the hardest difficulty you must fulfill the following requirements if you are set to 1 Round Settings:

  • No Continues
  • 1 Perfect
  • 5 First Attacks
  • 3 Ultra/Super Combo Finishes
  • Defeat Seth with a Ultra/Super combo Finish

Oni applies much more pressure then Evil Ryu can ever wish to. Like Evil Ryu Oni will use the Gohadouken but not so often and even then you have to watch it when you try to punish it because Oni has probably the best version of Shoryuken (Oni's is Goshoryuken), its so safe he could probably spam it with no worries at all. Finaly two notable moves to watch out for are Demon Palm (Sekisei Jiraiken) and Demon Slash (Rakan Dantojin), Demon Palm leaps Oni into the smashes the ground below him, its very fast and hard to see and even harder to punish on block, Demon Slash is safe on block for Oni and can cross you up if he uses the Heavy variant.

I found using Level 3 Focus attacks from a safe distance still pretty effective but don't rely too much on it, back up and bait out moves like Gohadouken and Demon Slash. If he tries to get in too close watch out for the Goshoryukens and Demon Palms.

Dude, just clear Arcade Mode on Medium or higher without using a continue with Yun! Piece of cake!

For the following trophies you must play as the selected DLC character from start to finish, you can not use the same method under "All Clear" to switch out for Zangief otherwise it will ruin the requirement of not using a continue. When entering arcade have it set to the following settings:

  • Difficulty: Medium (No need to make things harder on yourself)
  • Timer: 99 (Incase you so happen to start losing)
  • Rounds (Best of): 1

Also remember to keep a second controller if possible turned on and near by incase you are about to lose a match, you can save yourself by pressing :start: on that second controller.

Because Yun is a new character here are some notable basic moves you want to keep in mind when using him for this trophy:

Zesshou Hohou (Lunge Punch):scaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gifLBjSTQ5.gif+ :square: , :triangle: or :r1:

One of Yun's easiest and safest ways to get in. He leaps towards the opponent with his fist out also closing the space between him and the opposing player. Depending on the variant you use the leap might not be so far however the recovery will be much faster. This move is a good way to get in on your opponent and a fast way to punish whiffed attacks.

Kobokushi (Palm Strike): scaCehA.gifgDyPbph.gifR81Tb8A.gif+ :square: , :triangle: or :r1:

One of Yun's best moves, He stands in place stomps on the ground while pumping his palms forward. What makes this move so good is that he basically beats out any jumps and stops projectiles. If you use the :square: variant he does a fake which can be used to bait out moves (which probably won't be the case unless you are playing online). His :triangle: and :r1: variant builds meter and may or may not have push back depending on the variant. This move is also safe on block so feel free to abuse it but not too much if the opponent tends to be too close.

Nishokyaku (Dragon Kicks): LBjSTQ5.gifscaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gif+:cross:, :circle: or :r2:

Yun's Dragon Punch move, he will leap up kicking both of his feet how high, far and how much damage it does it dependent on the variant you use. This move also has a nice amount of invincibility on start up depending on the variant however can be easily be punished if the move whiffs or gets blocked.

Clear Arcade Mode on Medium or higher without using a continue with Yang. It's simple!

Please refer to "Just Enough" for more information.

Because Yang is a new character here are some notable basic moves you want to keep in mind when using him for this trophy:

Tourou Zan (Mantis Slashes): scaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gifLBjSTQ5.gif+ :square: , :triangle: or :r1:

Yang slices his hand infront of him and will keep doing it for the amount of times you input the moveset for the move (max 3 per). The :square: is safe on block so long as you don't continue it with the multiple hits while the :triangle: and :r1: variants are not and be punished on block. The move is a good poke to get in (if you are using the :square: variant) and also serves as a good combo ender.

Byakko Soushouda (Palm Strike): scaCehA.gifgDyPbph.gifR81Tb8A.gif+ :square: , :triangle: or :r1:

One of Yang's best moves (Just like Yun's), He stands in place stomps on the ground while pumping his palms forward.

Senkyuutai (Dragon Kicks, Roll Kick): LBjSTQ5.gifscaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gif+:cross:, :circle: or :r2:

Yang will roll on the ground towards the opposing player and do an fast upward kick (the :cross: variant does not roll on the ground). This move is a great way to punish projectiles. In Yangs Rival battle he will face Ryu who will spam Hadokens, the :circle: variant of this move is a great way to punish it consistently. As good as the move is it is also VERY unsafe on block so don't use it unless you are sure your opponent is attacking.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/347/55.jpg Overwhelming Power (B)

If you seek power, clear Arcade Mode on Medium or higher without using a continue with Evil Ryu.

Please refer to "Just Enough" for more information.

Because Evil Ryu is a new character here are some notable basic moves you want to keep in mind when using him for this trophy:

Red Fireball (Shakunetsu Hadouken):LBjSTQ5.gifGDJsmya.gifscaCehA.gifgDyPbph.gifR81Tb8A.gif+:square:, :triangle: or :r1:

Because you want to utilize the new tools Evil Ryu has opposed to his normal counterpart you might want to keep in mind his charged Hadoken. This move is a good way to chip away your opponent or win fireball fights against the opponent however the move is slow so it can easily be avoided so don't spam it as you would a hadoken.

Shoryuken (Dragon Punch): LBjSTQ5.gifscaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gif+:square:, :triangle: or :r1:

Just like the regular Shoryuken's this one is just as good. One of the best anti-air moves in the game, you can choose between the Light Shoryuken which can combo into Ultra 1 with ease of if you don't have that meter you can go with the Hard Shoryuken which has the move invincibility. Be careful though because of blocked it can punish you severely.

Axe Kick: R81Tb8A.gifgDyPbph.gifscaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gifLBjSTQ5.gif+ :cross:, :circle: or :r2:

Evil Ryu will swing his leg forward up and then down. This may look like an overhead however it is not (except for the EX version). This move can be fast and safe on block depending on the variant you use. The :cross: version is fast but if blocked leaves you wide up where as the :circle: variant is safe on block but doesn't come out as fast. The :r2: is simply for damage and for combo enders.

If you would like more information in regards to using Evil Ryu please refer to this link: Eventhubs SSFIV AE Evil Ryu Strategy Guide

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/347/56.jpg Transcendent (B)

Ascend beyond oneself by clearing Arcade Mode on Medium or higher without using a continue with Oni.

Please refer to "Just Enough" for more information.

Because Oni is a new character here are some notable basic moves you want to keep in mind when using him for this trophy:

Demon Slash (Rakan Dantojin): R81Tb8A.gifgDyPbph.gifscaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gifLBjSTQ5.gif+:cross:, :circle: or :r2:

Oni will dash up and perform a forward slash in-front of him, his move is very important when applying pressure. The :square: variant is safe on block and can be FADC'd into bigger damage. The :triangle: variant is a bit slower and very unsafe on block however its immune to projectiles mid move and can knock down on hit. Finally the :r1: variant can cross up the opponent but is rather slow about it, its amazing for mix ups.

Demon Palm (Sekisei Jiraiken): LBjSTQ5.gifscaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gif+:cross:, :circle: or :r2:

Oni will leap into the air and pound the ground below him. Its very fast and hard to see coming, Oni will leap forward a certain range depending on the variant you use. This move is good during pressure strings if you're trying to get in on your opponent.

Air Hadou Dash (Zanku Hadosho): scaCehA.gifgDyPbph.gifR81Tb8A.gif+:square:, :triangle: or :r1:

Probably one of Oni's best qualities ... an air dash. This move can only be used in the air and is a good way to close in on your opponent or bait out anti-air moves depending on the variant you use. Be careful though as you wide open upon landing so watch your spacing.

If you would like more information in regards to using Oni please refer to this link: Eventhubs SSFIV AE Oni Strategy Guide

As you can see there is now a small logo indicating which version of the game you are currently running. If by the off chance you do want to switch back you head to your Options menu and select change version.

I got a question about this part. Does the choice also mean that only a specific set of trophies are achievable/unachievable or can every trophy be earned no matter which version I chose?
