Trophy Breakdown: 2 (G) 6 (S) 9 (B)

Super Stardust HD is a 3D, top-down shooter reminiscent of classic games such as Asteroid. Your goal is to destroy as many asteroids, gold asteroids, and ice chunks as you can while protecting a planet. You have three weapons to use, each one is more effective against a specific object. You’ll also have to deal with enemy ships and bosses for each of the five planets. All of the main Arcade mode trophies can be earned on the easiest difficulty.

Part 1

The first thing you want to do in this game is to play through Arcade mode. You’ll pick up most of the trophies here. Making it through all the stages on each of the five planets earns you a trophy. All of them have the same idea behind them, shoot, move, and survive. While you’re doing the Arcade trophies, you can spend time working on the other random trophies that you can earn. They range from pretty easy (“Scenic Route”) to difficult that requires a bit of luck (“Multiplier Hero”). Holding on to your bombs without setting any of will get you two trophies, “Scrooge McBoom” and “Well Prepared”, once you make it up to a total of 20. You’ll get another two, “The Tokenizer” and “Token Hoarder”, for collecting 15 or more tokens in one boost. There are videos of how to get some of these trophies in the guide.

The two that require a bit of luck and skill to get are “Multiplier Hero” and “Shield Blaster.” There’s not much that can be said for the first one other than keep going, and don’t die. You’ll get your multiplier up to 10 by the fourth or fifth planet if you manage to stay alive. “Shield Blaster” is little different, in that it takes less time, but you need to be a little luckier. Instead of not dying, you can’t even get hit. Luck and skill are what will get you these two trophies.

Part 2

These trophies are entirely optional since they require you to buy two additional packs to get them. They are required if you want to get 100% though. The first one you’ll want to get is “Brother’s in Arms.” This is probably the easiest trophy to get. All you need is to have a second controller, move around the fifth planet for three minutes, and keep the two chips close enough that there will be an energy beam between the two. It might take a bit of practice to get some of the coordination of using the left stick on two controllers at once, but it’s really easy once you get it down.

The next one you should attempt is “Close Encounters.” Move around as much as you can. Always keep yourself moving away from the objects rushing at you.

Getting the two endless trophies is next. I wouldn’t recommend doing them at the same time, since you’ll be going for two completely different things. With “Extra Ships Optional,” if you get to an area where you’re being chased by enemy ships, just keep running away from them for as much time as you can. Once you get over seven minutes of survival time, the trophy is yours. “Shock and Awe” is the second most difficult trophy. You’ll have to last through 10 waves of enemies and objects in order to destroy the necessary 10 nukes. Move, shoot, and use your bombs wisely. Also, boosting through the nukes to detonate them quicker is recommended (just don’t miss, overshoot it, and create a whole new set of problems for yourself).

Finally, we come to “Late Boomer.” Good luck. I’ve seen numbers of attempts that range from 100’s to 1,000’s. It’s easily one of the most difficult trophies, and by far the most difficult in this game. One tip that seems to work very well is to wait until you have two ships with bombs out there. When they’re about to cross the same point, set off a bomb, and you’ll increase your bomb count by three instead of by one of if you destroy the ships one at a time. Keep moving and shooting. Keep trying as well. This is an extremely frustrating trophy, but during your next attempt, luck may just be on your side.

Bronze

bronze.jpg Hero of Lave (B)

Arcade - Complete planet Lave

Planet Lave is the first planet and this Trophy can be unlocked on Easy mode. Simply clear all 4 stages and then defeat the boss in the last phase and this Trophy will unlock.

Tips:

  • Save your boosts and bombs until you get in to an impossible situation.
  • Take our the bosses rocket propulsion system to defeat him, he has 4. Every so often he'll stop and shoot at you. Step back, avoid the purple laser balls and keep firing at his propulsion system. The first two are fairly easy, when on the back two though, you'll have to manoeuvre round the back to take them out.
  • The most powerful weapon here is the rock crusher but we recommend using the gold melter by either a.) spinning in round in circles acting as a shield and such, or b.) point forward to clear your way with a slight waggle from left to right for a powerful weapon.

bronze.jpg Hero of Coventina (B)

Arcade - Complete planet Coventina

Planet Coventina is the second planet and this Trophy can be unlocked on Easy mode. Simply clear all 4 stages and then defeat the boss in the last phase and this Trophy will unlock.

Tips:

  • Save your boosts and bombs until you get in to an impossible situation.
  • Take out the bosses' red eye to defeat him. He works in phases. After you cause a lot of damage on the red eye, he'll flip over, so fly round and shoot the red eye again. Then he'll close up, become invincible for a short time and fire a couple of dozen rockets at you. So fall back, take them all out and rinse and repeat, or

scxzor from PS3Fanboy.com suggests slipping inside the mechanical arms before they close to avoid all the rockets. Top tip.

  • The most powerful weapon here is the gold melter. Use it by either a.) spinning in round in circles acting as a shield and such, or b.) point forward to clear your way with a slight waggle from left to right for a powerful weapon.

bronze.jpg  Hero of Nemain (B)

Arcade - Complete planet Nemain

Planet Nemain is the third planet and this Trophy can be unlocked on Easy mode. Simply clear all 4 stages and then defeat the boss in the last phase and this Trophy will unlock.

Tips:

  • Save your boosts and bombs until you get in to an impossible situation.
  • The boss here will be the boss that you encounter on the first planet x 2. Use the same strategy to defeat them.

Arcade - Complete planet Taranis

Planet Taganis is the fourth planet and this Trophy can be unlocked on Easy mode. Simply clear all 4 stages and then defeat the boss in the last phase and this Trophy will unlock.

Tips:

  • Save your boosts and bombs until you get in to an impossible situation.

Arcade - Complete planet Segomo

Planet Segomo is the fifth planet and his Trophy can be unlocked on Easy mode. Simply clear all 4 stages and then defeat the boss in the last phase and this Trophy will unlock.

Tips:

  • Save your boosts and bombs until you get in to an impossible situation.
  • The most powerful weapon here is the gold melter. Use it by either a.) spinning in round in circles acting as a shield and such, or b.) point forward to clear your way with a slight waggle from left to right for a powerful weapon.
  • sczxor from PS3Fanboy.com suggests:
"You'll want to save at least three bombs for the final boss, so make sure you collect bombs from drop ships as often as possible. They are most easily destroyed by using your Gold Melter. When you reach the boss, look for a new kind of tower you haven't seen before, one that has red dots surrounding it. Simply deploy a bomb, and it will start launching missles at the core. Wait a little bit and another one will appear. Your bombs will make this boss a cakewalk."

bronze.jpg  The Tokenizer (B)

Arcade - Collect 5 tokens with a single boost

Simply use the boost (:l2:) and go through a large asteroid. You should get it fairly easily and quickly this way. Remember to line yourself up and try to go through the middle. If all else fails and you are struggling, do it on a bonus rock which you get from clearing the set of timed asteroids that drop.

bronze.jpg  Scrooge MacBoom (B)

Arcade - Get 10 bombs

See the silver trophy, "Well Prepared"

bronze.jpg  Extra Ships Optional (B)

Endless - Survive 7 minutes without dying

Add on Pack Required: Solo Pack

Price: £2.99

Mode: Endless

zemnas suggests that you destroy everything with a nuke until some flying enemies appear. Kill all but one and then spend 7 minutes running from him. There should be no rocks, no enemies, nothing except that one enemy. Some balls appear that are easy to despatch and if the flying enemy gets too close, boost away. However, this appears to be random as there are a few types of different map which are used.

bronze.jpg  Close Encounters (B)

Survival - Survive 45 seconds without shooting or using bombs

Add on Pack Required: Solo Pack

Price: £2.99

Mode: Survival

Select Survival mode and survive 45 seconds. Don't shoot anything including the enemies, just navigate in and out of the asteroids. You may boost. However, if you boost through any of the green asteroids, you'll most likely pick up a time token that adds 2 seconds to your time. For example, if you get 2 bonus seconds and get a time of 46 seconds, you have in fact, only played in 44 seconds, thus not getting the trophy.

Silver

silver.jpg  Token Hoarder (S)

Arcade - Collect 15 tokens with a single boost

Not as hard as it sounds. Fire up the second planet (Coventina) in easy mode. Take out the first two huge asteroids with the gold melter and then a numbered asteroid will drop. When you destroy it, another one will drop but one number smaller. Simply take out all of them until you destroy the last one (the number 1 asteroid) and a bonus asteroid will drop. Line up a boost through the middle and take it out. It is possible to do this with one boost, but you can line it up with another asteroid if you wish. Check out Pesico's YouTube video for how he did it.

silver.jpg  Well Prepared (S)

Arcade - Get 20 bombs

Bombs are received from blowing up drop ships and the two barrels they carry each drop a bomb which amounts to two bombs per drop ship. There is usually one ship in every Phase, plus you start with 3... So do the math. Don't use ANY and you'll get a load quick enough to get this achievement. Should also pick up the bronze Trophy, "Scrooge MacBoom".

silver.jpg  Shield Blaster (S)

Arcade - Collect 5 shield tokens while already having a shield

Start on easy mode on the first planet and every time you see a shield token collect it. If you see a ship token, don't take it for a few seconds and wait for it to turn to a shield, then pick it up. This is not a consecutive Trophy but it appears you must do it on the same life. So if you lose your shield, you still have a shot at the Trophy, just pick up another shield and carry on collecting them. Might be worth attempting this while going for the gold Trophy, "Multiplier Hero".

silver.jpg  Scenic Route (S)

Arcade - Complete a planet without using boost

Easiest silver trophy you will ever get this is... Well so far. Simply, don't use the boost (:l2:) throughout the planet. So that's from first phase to defeating the boss. You can use everything else, weapons, bombs, but just no boost. You can die whatever, just don't press boost. Start on Easy on Lave and within ten mins, you'll have a nice silver Trophy.

silver.jpg  Late Boomer (S)

Bomber - Get 15 bombs

Add on Pack Required: Solo Pack

Price: £2.99

Can anyone say, hardest SSHD Trophy ever? Well, this is one of the hardest on the game for sure. Basically, you need to blow up bombs to get bombs and this is the only way. Try and use 1 to receive 2 by blowing up a ship, or even better, 1 to blow up 2 ships to get 4. Confused? Well, it's tough!! Just don't waste your bombs on those little critters.

Let this video inspire you...

silver.jpg  Shock and Awe (S)

Endless - Destroy 10 nukes

Add on Pack Required: Solo Pack

Price: £2.99

Mode: Endless

Another tough achievement here. You're advised to save your bombs for the latter stages of the mode. Preferably till after the 7 minutes has expired for the Extra Ship Optional Trophy. Do boost (or shoot) in to the nukes as quick as possible to clear the level and make sure if you do that, don't boost past them and kill yourself. The mode in itself requires luck as well as skill and judgment. The enemies come thick and past so try to stay alert and move as tactically as you can.

Gold

gold.jpg  Multiplier Hero (G)

Arcade - Get 10x multiplier

Tricky little bugger this. The best way is to start from the first planet on easy and work your way through as far as you need. Try upgrading your gold melter as quick as possible and when an extra "ship" is dropped, leave it till it downgrades to the "shield". Always try and keep a shield up just in case. Spinning the right analogue stick with the gold melter is a great way to keep enemies at bay and protect yourself, but the key to a 10x multiplier is a good combo. Check out Starrr's tip below.

Starrr's Super Tip - You can get this Trophy before reaching the 4th planet. First off always string along the point tokens, your ship is like a magnet you can sting them in a line then boost through them. You can achieve a 3 x multiplier before you leave the first planet, first stage this way. It's very simple once u get the hang of it. Always do the "Token Hoarder" trick on the green bonus rock as well as it results in massive points. Still got no idea? Pesico made a video to show you how to do it.

gold.jpg  Brother in Arms (G)

Split screen Co-op Segomo - Get 3 minutes of continuous Co-Op weapon boost

Add on Pack Required: Team Pack

Price: 4.99

Mode:

sczxor from PS3Fanboy.com suggests:

"Quite possibly the easiest Trophy in the game, and it's a Gold one too. You won't need an extra friend, just an extra controller. Start split screen co-op (not standard co-op) and choose Segomo. When you start the level, stay close to each other, so that you see a stream between the both ships. Simply wait for three minutes and the Trophy will unlock. DO NOT SHOOT ANYTHING. Enemies will not be triggered so long as all the asteroids are intact. If need be, move both your ships in the same direction to avoid getting hit."

To get the high number of bombs i'd recommend using the gold melter whenever you see one of those ships with the green containers, they blow them up very quickly and you can collect 2 bombs per ship. Also try to boost rather than using bombs to get out of tight situations since you are invulnerable while boosting.

Complete a planet without using boost - start a new game on the first planet, use your bombs whenever you need them. Isn't too hard if you just focus on not dieing and not boosting.

I can actually confirm that to get Shield Blaster you do not need to keep your shield throughout completely. I managed to get this on my first playthrough and lost my shield twice, so aslong as you just get 5 shields while having a shield you should get it. I cannot confirm anything concerning dying though.

i can confirm this as well i got my first shield, then used my cell phone to count the number of shields i got, i had 4 and got hit, then i picked up another shield, and was just gona continure playing when i grabbed another shield, AND BOOM unlocked :)

Looks like you have to be a second over 45 seconds to get the trophy. I got 45.75 and didn't get it. Couple tries later I got 47 something and got it.

Same thing happened to me. I had 45.65 and didn't get it. I initially thought it may have been because I used a boost and that it secretly wasn't allowed so I kept goin just to wind up with a 1:07.34 2 attempts later without a boost.

That's pretty good, especially without boost. I used boost at the end as I had no choice. Fortunately I got it so looks like boost can be used.

A weird thing happened to me. I got a time of 44,92 or something that close. Off course not getting the trophy. Then I got a time on about 45,xx and still didn't get my trophy. Then looked at the leaderboard. My time was still 44,92, but I was placed above people with low 45 scores eventough it said I had 44,92.

Got the trophy later by a good margin.

A good idea on the Hero of Lave is to wait to grab the gun upgrades till it gets green. Because you almost only fight rocks on the first planet.

On Hero of Coventina, I think it is mostly gold asteroids, thus wait til the gun upgrade turn red before picking them up. That helped me from being a complete noob and die all the time, to get from the first planet til the fourth without loosing all lives.
