Introduction:

A game filled with mini-games based on summer sports. The game has a single discipline, cup, career and multiplayer mode. The sports in this game are various types of sprint, jumping, swimming, archery and fencing. Do not think for a second this game won't make you tired even if all you use is your sixaxis controller. You must waggle and do circulating movements with both sticks very fast and for a very long time. The game also uses the sixaxis motion censor for many of the sports. In the beginning of the game, you will most likely be doing the same easy, but very tiresome, sports over and over until you have trained your character stronger. There are 3 missable trophies and these must be done at the beginning of the game. Luckily while the missable trophies are extremely easy to miss, they are very simple and easy to make sure you get if you know about them. With this guide I think the trophies are doable for most people, but as pointed out earlier, they may require a lot of effort from you.

Walkthrough:

Step 1 (Career):

Do these in the order listed:

  • *MISSABLE* Get Greedy and In shape without training before you do anything else.
  • *MISSABLE* Make sure you don't miss the trophy Couldn't care less about Marc while working your way through career mode.
  • Get gold in all events in the career mode to obtain the trophy Gold obsession. See World domination for tips on how to play the various sports.

Step 2 (World Records):

Get World domination, which is done by setting a new WR 20 times on normal difficulty. This can all be done in the career mode, but you can also use Single Discipline. See the trophy for tips etc.

Step 3 (Challenges):

Get all the trophies you are still missing. Many can be obtained in the career mode, but most of them require you to do something on a specific difficulty, which you can only set in the Single Discipline, so remember to set the correct difficulty before attempting them. I think you can set it to a more difficult difficulty setting than specified, difficulty stacks, but there is little point in doing so. See the trophy guide for how to obtain the various trophies. You can watch your progress on the various trophies under the Challenges menu in the main menu.

Trophy Guide

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/732/01.jpg Platinum Trophy (P)

Won all Trophies.

You must obtain all the other trophies in this game to obtain this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/732/02.jpg Meet Gino (B)

Win the challenge 'Meet Gino'.

Complete your first training session in career mode. I'm not 100% sure if you can get this trophy with any other trainer than Gino, so to be on the safe side get it with Gino. Gino is the first trainer and you won't get a new one unless you win a cup in career mode, which is pretty much impossible to do unless you do some training, which kinda makes it impossible to miss anyways.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/732/03.jpg Greedy (S)

Win the challenge 'Greedy'.

*Missable*

Win 3 golds in career mode without spending any training points.

See In shape without training for tips.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/732/04.jpg In shape without training (S)

Win the challenge 'In shape without training'.

*Missable*

Win 9 golds in career mode without spending any training points.

Tips:

  • You can win at the same event multiple times.
  • 200m Sprint is an easy event without any training, simply because the rest isn't easy to win at without having done any training.
  • Training is to enter the training menu on the career board, which you can enter by pressing the button specified for doing so on the screen, and then selecting a training exercise that will increase your stats. Remember not to do this before getting this trophy.
  • The tutorial does not count as training or something like that.

Win the challenge 'Pockey money'.

Earn 25 training points in career mode.

See Fabulous wealth for more information.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/732/06.jpg Seed capital (B)

Win the challenge 'Seed capital'.

Earn 75 training points in career mode.

See Fabulous wealth for more information.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/732/07.jpg Prosperity (S)

Earn 400 training points in career mode.

The trophies related to earning training points are cumulative, so feel free to use them whenever you want. You can get more training points by replaying events and getting golds.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/732/09.jpg Impress Nikolai (B)

Win the challenge 'Impress Nikolai'.

Train all your skills to 50% in career mode. You do not need to have unlocked Nikolai or have him as your current trainer to get this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/732/10.jpg Impress Stacy (S)

Win the challenge 'Impress Stacy'.

Train all your skills to 70% in career mode. You do not need to have unlocked Stacy or have him as your current trainer to get this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/732/11.jpg I've got the power (G)

Win the challenge 'I've got the power'.

Train all your skills to 90% in career mode. You can not obtain this trophy before you've got a new trainer. I know you can obtain this trophy if you max out your training when you've unlocked Nikolai as a trainer (beat Motion Cup to unlock Nikolai as trainer).

Training tips:

  • While you get the most training points for winning an event the first time, you do get points for winning it again too. Find an event you can win over and over at and earn a lot of training points.
  • The later trainers can train you more for less training points.
  • Exercises with later trainers have varied training points per training "star" ratio, so be sure to pick an exercise that improves you the most.
  • There are some events that are fast to win at, some require little effort and some reward you with more points than others. Pick one you feel you can do over and over easily and fast.

Win the challenge 'Gold obsession'.

Obtain gold in all events in career mode. There are 36 golds in total. Just win 'em all.

Tips for progressing in the game:

  • In the beginning, when you aren't very well trained, it can be very hard to win at various events, many simply impossible. Use your training points as often as possible and put some time and effort into training, especially in the beginning, to make the game a lot easier for yourself.
  • Put training points into what you want to improve.
  • See I've got the power for more about how to train efficiently and max out your training.
  • See World domination for tips on how to win in most of the games, and Flawless victory for fencing tips.

Win the challenge 'Motion Cup'.

Win the Motion Cup, the second cup, in the career mode.

See Destiny Cup for more information.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/732/17.jpg Destiny Cup (S)

Win the challenge 'Destiny Cup'.

Win the Destiny Cup, the fifth cup, in the career mode.

You find the various cups in the career mode. You've got to get a medal (you don't need to get a gold) in all the events surrounding the cup to get access to the cup. On the career board the cups look like trophies. Most cups unlock a new and better trainer. To win the cup, just get more golds than your opponent teams at the various sports the cup contains.

See World domination for tips on how to win in most of the games, and Flawless victory for fencing tips.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/732/18.jpg Good company (B)

Win the challenge 'Good company'.

Unlock all trainers in career mode. You unlock a trainer when you win a cup. You unlock the last trainer (Stacy) when you beat the Cosmos Cup (4th cup), you do not need to have beat all the other cups up to that point to get this trophy. To unlock a cup get a medal in all the events surrounding the cup (trophy icon) on the career mode. In other words, you obtain this trophy when you win the Cosmo Cup.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/732/19.jpg Access all areas (B)

Win the challenge 'Access all areas'.

Unlock all events in career mode. You unlock an event by getting a medal in one of the events surrounding it on the career mode board.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/732/20.jpg One on One (S)

Win the challenge 'One on One'.

Win gold in the final One on One event in career mode. The final One on One event is a Foil Fencing event. You need to win at it 3 times. See Flawless victory for fencing tips. You don't need to win at any of the other One on One challenges to obtain this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/732/21.jpg Couldn't care less about Marc (S)

Win the challenge 'Couldn't care less about Marc'.

*Missable*

Unlock Nikolai Sechenov without having trained with Marc Versuv in career mode. Marc is a trainer, and you unlock a new trainer each time you win a new cup. The better ones replaced the older ones. You unlock Marc after winning the first cup, and you unlock Nikolai after winning the second cup. To unlock a cup, get a medal in the events surrounding the throphy square on the career mode board.

There are two ways to obtain this trophy:

  1. Beat second cup (Motion Cup) before you beat the first cup (Rookie Cup).
  2. Do not train after beating the first cup and before beating the second. Make sure you are trained enough to beat second cup before beating the first cup.

I recommend the first method.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/732/22.jpg Record Breaker (B)

Win the challenge 'Record breaker'.

Set a new world record in any discipline in single player on normal difficulty.

See World domination for more information.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/732/23.jpg Perfect 10 (B)

Win the challenge 'Perfect 10'.

Set 10 new world records in single player on normal difficulty.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/732/24.jpg World domination (S)

Win the challenge 'World domination'.

Set 20 new world records in single player on normal difficulty. This can be done in Career and Single discipline mode. See the list under for tips, especially the text marked in red is very useful.

Tips:

  • General:
    • You can check who's got the various records and what they are if you on the main menu screen select "Single discipline", then select the sport and finally select records.
    • Be completely trained before attempting to set a new WR in career mode. You can't do this until you've unlocked the best trainer and to unlock him you need to win the second to last cup. Though, you can also do it through the "Single discipline" screen.
    • You will need to do very close to perfect in each sport to set a new WR, which is why I've pointed out exactly what to do in the various sports in the list under.
    • You don't actually need to beat the world record, you can tie it too.
    • You can set a new world record in the same sport more than once. So find one you can easily beat over and over to quickly get this trophy out of the way. I recommend High Jump, it should be very easy to tie (2.45m) if you've maxed out the training, and it's extremely little tiresome and quick to do.

    [*]100m, 200m and 400m Sprint:

    • Time to beat in 100m Sprint is 0:09.58.
    • Time to beat in 200m Sprint is *unknown, but you can check it yourself*.
    • Time to beat in 400m Sprint is 0:43.18.
    • At the beginning of a race, hold down :l2: and instantly release it when they say GO. The sooner you release it after they say GO the better start you get. You may use the clock in the upper left corner to time this correctly, it will go around a bit more than 3 and a quarter times before they say GO.
    • Running:
      • Tilt the right stick left and right back and forth very fast to run very fast.
      • I usually place the right stick between my index finger and my middle finger, and just waggle it left and right over and over very fast with a wave moment with my hand and arm. Be careful with your arm and the controller to not harm either.

    [*]110m Hurdles:

    • The time to beat is 0:12.87
    • See the above Sprint tips for good start and running.
    • Unlike the sprints you also need to jump over hurdles. To properly jump over hurdles, press :l2: right before you approach the hurdle. You can also look at the icon at the bottom of the screen.
    • You may want to do the One on One 110m Hurdle event's gold medal while going for this record.

    [*]1500m Middle Distance:

    • The time to beat is 3:26.00.
    • See 200m Sprint for how to get a good start.
    • To move waggle the left and right stick up and down where if left stick is up right stick should be down. Since you aren't going to do it very quickly, you may as well do it as normal, with your thumbs.
    • In this sport you run very far so you will need to conserve stamina. In fact, if you use too much stamina your max speed will decrease. You must find a perfect rhythm of running where you exactly don't see the red arrow on the icon in the bottom left corner. But you should make sure you use most of the stamina without to the point where it doesn't decrease your max speed before finishing the race.
    • You got 3 "boosts" where you can run for a little while. If you run too fast, you will use stamina. To use the boosts, press :cross:.
    • Keep yourself on the inner lane (leftmost). Press :l2: to move to the lane to the left and :r2: to move to the lane to the right.

    [*]Throwing:

    • Javelin Throw:
      • The score to beat in Javelin Throw is *unknown, but you can check yourself*.
      • You want to max out the running speed. Waggle the right stick as quickly as you can back and forth between right and left. I usually put the right stick between my index finger and the middle finger and do a wave movement with my hand and arm very fast.

      [*]Shotput:

      • The score to beat in Shotput is *unknown, but you can check yourself*.
      • Circulate the right stick as fast as you can at the beginning until the speed is locked. I put the right stick at the left side of my palm and made a circulating movement very fast.

      [*]Discus Throw and Hammer Throw:

      • The score to beat in Discus Throw is 74.08m.
      • The score to beat in Hammer Throw is 86.74m.
      • Start out with slow circular movements of the right stick for then to go faster and faster. See the little icon in the bottom left corner to see if you're doing it too fast or too slow. To get very high speed (circling the right stick very fast) I usually put my hand on the stick so the stick is in my palm.

[*]At the end of the above sports you must throw the actual object:

      • To get a perfect throw, you will want the arrow to be pretty much completely filled (but don't wait too long as then it's a fault) before pressing :l2: to throw.
      • You will also want to tilt your sixaxis controller carefully so you face the shoulder buttons upwards before throwing. This should increase the blue arrows length. If done too fast or too long it will bend etc.
      • You will want the arrow to be max length and the blue inside it as full as possible when you hit :l2:, but don't hit the button too late.

    [*]High Jump:

    • The height you need to meet is 2.45m.
    • At the beginning you will be pressing :l2: and :r2: subsequently several times as the green dot on the bottom goes from one green dot to the next. If done properly you will see the blue bar fill up in the bottom right corner.
    • At the end you will see a green line go upwards the arrowed filled with blue. Once it goes over the black and white striped line, press :l2:.
    • Now at the end you must move your sixaxis controller in a circulating movement.

    [*]Pole Vault:

    1. You need to set the height to 6.14 or higher.
    2. You start out with getting a good sprint. This is done by wagling the right stick left and right over and over very fast to fill up the bar on the bottom. Keep it filled up.
    3. When you get near where you are supposed to jump, you must plant the stick. There you will see a couple of green dots appear on the line on the bottom of the screen. You must press :l2: right before they hit each other.
    4. After planting the stick you must make sure you get a good jump. If you see the bottom right corner you will see a green bar raising up and you must press :l2: when it's above the white and black striped line.
    5. Once you get into the air you must make your way over the pole. A black arrow will appear on the screen. Move your controller in a circuling movement to fill the black arrow with white.

    [*]Long Jump:

    • The length you need to jump is 8.95m.
    • For the run-up, you need to "run" slow in the beginning and accelerate as you run. See the the green and red arrows in the bottom left corner that will tell you if you too fast or too slow.
    • Press :l2: to jump when the marker is as close to the end as possible and quickly move your sixaxis controller in a half circle movement while in the air a couple of times to do a proper jump.

    [*]Triple Jump:

    • The length you need to jump is 18.29m.
    • Starting out with a run-up. This is done by waggling the right stick from right to left over and over. Start out slow and then go faster and faster (see icon at bottom of the screen).
    • Once you start jumping, press :l2: twice while the green dot passes the two first green dots, then after that press :r2: when it passes the last green dot.
    • At the end you need to do a circulating movement with the sixaxis controller.

  • 100m Freestyle:
    • The time to beat is 0:52.07.
    • To gain speed rotate both stick clockwise at the same time. You can easily do this by placing them both in your palm and do circling movements with your hand.
    • If you are at a too high speed you will begin to use your stamina. While you should make sure you use all your stamina, you should also make sure you don't use it up too early. You do get a refill of stamina on the turn, and how much depends on how well the turn was performed. See icons in bottom left corner of the screen for stamina bar and speed etc.
    • When doing turns and on finishes, press :l2: when the dot is about to pass the other dot.
    • You may want to do this alongside the One on One event of the same sport, since the time to get a gold on that event is 0:52:10.

    [*]100m Butterfly:

    • The time you must beat is 0:56.06.
    • To get a perfect start you must hold down the :l2: button and release it instantly after the voice says GO.
    • To swim, move the left stick clockwise and the right stick counter clockwise.
    • You will want to not swim too fast or too slow. See the bar on the bottom of the screen.
    • When you swim too fast you use up stamina. You can see your stamina in the bottom left corner of the screen. While it is smart to use all the stamina you possibly can, you should not use it all up before the very end of the race.
    • You will earn more stamina at the turn, so make sure you use more stamina than the turn fills up before the turn.
    • To do a perfect turn, press :l2: when the two green dots meet each other.

    [*]Dive 10m:

    • The score you must beat is 198.90.
    • You must select the two hardest (most rewarding) programs to beat the WR.
    • At the beginning press :l2: when the green dot passes the other green dot in the bottom left corner. Once you've done that once, you need to do it 3 more times the next 3 times they pass each other. The more precise, the better start you get. See the blue bar in the icon in the bottom left corner to see how good your start is, it should fill up when you do it correctly.
    • Get all button inputs right. Push the two sticks the way it shows when exactly when they are at the L and R symbols.
    • At the end you must get a perfect entry in the water (as little splash as possible). To do this, move the sixaxis controller as quick as you can around so the little character on the left side is right above the middle of the circles.

    [*]50m Recurve and 70m Compound:

    • You need to get 87 points in 50m Recurve and 88 points in 70m Compound.
    • You got 3 times 3 shots, where the max points you can get per shot is 10 points.
    • Pull the left stick down and hold it down until you want to shoot the arrow.
    • You can zoom in with the :l2: button, but this uses stamina (icon in bottom right corner).
    • You must calculate in the wind when shooting the arrows. The wind can have different speeds, which of course affects how much it affects the shot. The wind affects your shot more in 70m Compound than in 50m Recursive.
    • One of the One on One events' gold medal require you to get 89 points in 70m Compound, so you should probably aim for doing the WR alongside the gold medal.
    • There is also a pretty "hard" contest for 50m Recurve which you might want to get gold at while going for the WR.
    • The wind is random, so you may want to restart if you get a bad wind in the beginning. You can potentially get a weak wind each time if you get lucky.

    [*]Trampolining:

    • The score you need to beat is 39.5.
    • You must select Trampoline program 3 to beat the WR.
    • Get all button inputs correctly.
    • Get all the jumps as perfect as you can. This is done by moving the sixaxis controller upwards whenever you are at the lowest point before next jump. See the icon in bottom left corner of the screen to see when you do it correctly.
    • Allign yourself properly at the end. Use the sixaxis controller to make the character on the left side of the screen stand as much straight as possible. You will see a meter filling up, and you want it totally filled.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/732/25.jpg In a hurry (B)

Win the challenge 'In a hurry'.

At 400m Sprint, gain the lead within 100 seconds and stay ahead until the finish in single player on normal difficulty. If you are properly trained, this one should be rather easy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/732/26.jpg Dislike of prime numbers (B)

Win the challenge 'Dislike of prime numbers'.

Knock over only the hurdles 2, 3, 5 and 7 in a 110m Hurdles race and win a medal (1st/2nd/3rd) in single player on normal difficulty.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/732/27.jpg Narrow path (B)

Win the challenge 'Narrow path'.

Win a Middle Distance race changing lane only 3 times in single player on normal difficulty. I recommend you use your 3 lane changes to get to the inner lane (leftmost).

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/732/28.jpg Two's company, three's a crowd (B)

Win the challenge 'Two's company, three's a crowd'.

Win a Middle Distance race overtaking no more than 2 athletes in single player on hard difficulty.

Tips:

  • Get a very good start. Don't waste your time on a bad start, you are most likely not going to get the trophy unless you get close to a perfect start.
  • Keep yourself to the inner lane.
  • In a turn, when you are on the inner lane, the other runners will have a very hard time passing you, or simply put, they won't pass you if you run normal max speed without using any stamina.
  • Whenever someone is almost passing you outside of a turn, you either want to use a tiny bit more stamina on running faster if the next turn is close, else you will want to use a boost and run.
  • Keep yourself just under the point where you use stamina.
  • Most of the time you will want to use as little stamina as you can.
  • When using the boost, you should use some stamina. This is when you get the most for your stamina, but don't max the speed out, as that will empty you of stamina way too fast and you will end up with a lower "normal" speed.
  • Always save an extra boost until the end.
  • Pick the team that you find annoying to race against (the team that usually win) to "knock out" your strongest opponent.
  • Just keep the lead and stay far ahead of everyone else.
  • If you get a bad start or you see it goes bad mid-race, you may as well restart and not waste more time on bad luck.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/732/29.jpg Roadblock (B)

Win the challenge 'Roadblock'.

Win a Middle Distance race without being overtaken by any other atheletes in single player on hard difficulty. This trophy is easily combined with Two's company, three's a crowd, so see there for some tips.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/732/30.jpg Last Chance (B)

Win the challenge 'Last chance'.

Win a Javelin event with your last throw after two faults in single player on hard difficulty.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/732/31.jpg First try (S)

Win the challenge 'First try'.

Win a Shot Put event with your first throw followed by two faults in single player on hard difficulty.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/732/32.jpg Choose wisely (S)

Win the challenge 'Choose wisely'.

Win a High Jump event by clearing only the first height chosen in single player on hard difficulty.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/732/33.jpg Bad posture (S)

Win the challenge 'Bad posture'.

Clear a height of 6.05m at Pole Vault without correcting your posture (the sixaxis movement at the end) in single player on normal difficulty.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/732/34.jpg Stumble and win (B)

Win the challenge 'Stumble and win'.

Place at least 5th where you missed the Step or Jump in your best attempt at Triple Jump in single player on hard difficulty.

What you need to do here is get max speed and miss the second step, you can't miss the first and the third give you a better boost.

Personally I found this trophy to be impossible to get when I selected one of the teams that usually got the lowest scores on the result board. When I selected one of the higher ranked teams it went in a couple of attempts, but beware the running part can be very intense.

Win the challenge 'Reserved'.

Win a Swimming race without losing any stamina in single player on any difficulty. Select any Swimming discipline under Single discipline. Select the difficulty Instant Fun!. Now just win the game to get this trophy. On Instant Fun! difficulty you can't use any stamina, so obviously winning at that difficulty will earn you this trophy. It is also the easiest difficulty and the trophy isn't difficulty specific.

Win the challenge 'Torpedo'.

Win a Swimming race with a poor turn or a poor grab in single player on any difficulty. I recommend you play on easy and go for a poor grab. You earn a lot of stamina from a good turn and you lose a lot of speed from a poor turn. To do a poor grab, just don't press :l2: at the end of the race.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/732/39.jpg International emergency call (B)

Win the challenge 'International emergency call'.

At Archery score the following per round; 1-1-2, 9-1-1, 9-9-9, in single player on easy difficulty.

Tips:

  • I recommend shooting at the numbers under the bull's eye.
    • It is shorter to the under-side of the bull's eye rather than the left, right or above. The less time spent shooting, the more precise is your aiming.
    • You've probably gotten used to hitting the bull's eye while the wind is blowing, so you know approximately how much to the side of the middle to shoot at the number you want to hit with the various wind's strength, and it should be the same when you just go below it.
    • If the wind takes your arrow more left or right than you thought you will have a greater chance to still hit. This is because the area under and above the bull's eye is width compared on the left and right side of the bull's eye. With other words, you don't need to guess how much the wind affects your arrows as precisely.

[*]You can get lucky with the wind.

[*]Play with HD screen, as it makes the target so much easier to see.

[*]To make it easy for yourself to hit the target look at the colors. There are two targets per color. One inner and one outer.

Gain maximum airtime for any program at a Trampoline event in single player on any difficulty. You want to do this on easy. What you need to do is to get the five first jumps perfect, not the inputs, but the actual jumps. Lift the sixaxis controller upwards whenever you reach the bottom of your jump and is about to go upwards. You can see on the icon on the left side if you do it correctly or not. The controller icon must be above the green dot.
