Introduction:

Welcome to Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online Edition, one of the most anticipated fighting games to hit PSN.

Many regular players in the fighting game community believe 3rd Strike to be the best Street Fighter game in the franchise, with the release of Street Fight IV (and all of its updated versions) the community of 3rd Strike shifted leaving the game with little to no community base. Thanks to the effort of Capcom we now have an arcade perfect version of a fan favorite game with new HD-Filtered graphics.

iNlF1XF.jpg

With newer fighting game titles such as Street Fighter IV and Marvel vs Capcom 3, there was a form of "comeback" system added into these games to give losing players a chance to catch up and reverse the outcome of the match.

In older games such as 3rd Strike there was no such thing. Many veteran players may look forward to playing this game again for that very reason (along with the nostalgia). Other players may play it for a certain EVO moment famous to the fighting game world which has also been included in 3rd Strike Online Edition as an optional challenge mission:

This newly released HD version of 3rd Strike not only includes arcade perfect gameplay, but also newly introduced features for a fighting game such as:

  • GGPO - Enabled Online Play: GGPO (Good Game Peace Out) is a computer software with almost flawless netcode allowing for lag free matches which is very important when playing a fighting game online.
  • Visual Filters: While Capcom gave us remastered HD filters of the graphics for 3rd Strike (but) we are also given the option to revert back to the classic graphics. As well as being able to switch your screen resolution between widescreen or full screen or even a special "cabinet" screen effect to give off the feeling of playing the game in an actual arcade.
  • Youtube Replay Sharing: By connecting your youtube account to the online servers of the game you can save replays of your memorable battles and have them uploaded straight to your youtube account from the game.

Trophy Acquisition:

The trophies of 3rd Strike Online Edition seem like your typical Street Fighter oriented trophies with tasks such as completing Arcade Mode, doing a certain amount of EX modes, getting a certain amount of perfects, and winning a certain amount of ranked matches online in a row, etc. However you now have a "progress" bar to help you keep track of how far you are from earning your trophy. Which is displayed by default on your sidebars during a match (this option can be changed if you wish). The progress bar actually keeps track of "challenges" and how far you are from completing the "tier" of that challenge. All of the trophies in 3rd Strike Online Edition are linked to those challenges so completing certain tier levels of challenges will earn you the trophy it co-relates with.

Fundamentals of Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike and Quick Review of the Controls:

Before going over the steps for trophy acquisition, it would be wise to know about the fundamentals of 3rd Strike. While you can play the single player modes of the game (and versus) to unlock most of your trophies, you will also have to take part in online matches against random players. With the amount of time the game has been out there will sure to be experienced players online refreshing themselves on the game they loved before Street Fighter IV. Learning these fundamentals will not only help ready yourself for those matches online but they will help make regular trophy acquisition easier and less time-consuming.

Throwing: WzUAeqe.png + es9kNNj.png

This is a basic input in most if not all fighting games however there is a way to make more effective. There is a method of throwing in 3rd Strike known as Kara Throwing, how it works is you make an input for a move and you are using the animation from the move to slide your character slighting forward doing so gives you more range to throw the opposing character. While this does sound like a very appealing tactic it seems it is only really effective with characters such as:

  • Akuma
  • Alex
  • Chun Li
  • Elena
  • Remy
  • Ryu

Please refer to this link for more information in regards to Kara Throws: 3rd Strike Advanced Tactics - Kara Throwing (EventHubs)

Parrying:

While in regular fighting games you would hold your directional pad the opposite direction (R81Tb8A.gif or gDyPbph.gif) to block an attack, in 3rd Strike there is another form of blocking known as Parrying where instead) of moving the directional pad away from the attack you would input towards the attack (LBjSTQ5.gif or GDJsmya.gif).

Please refer to "Wax On, Wax Off" for more information about parrying.

Canceling:

Canceling is a fundamental in any fighting game. Canceling is when you interrupt the animation of your current input with the input for a Special Move, canceling has no timing to it and can be done so long as you input the interrupted input in a certain amount of time. An example would be inputting scaCehA.gifJ9LRf1Q.png > scaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gifLBjSTQ5.gif + Z1v8cGW.png

You can also go as far as cancelling into Super Moves creating a "Super Cancel" such as scaCehA.gifUUFtJvW.png > scaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gifLBjSTQ5.gifscaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gifLBjSTQ5.gif + Q0JbjH3.png

Links:

Links are when moves give you enough hit-stun to enough another move after it creates a combo. Now the difference between Links and Cancels is that you have to wait for the moves you input in Links to completely finish before inputting the next move. As you can't mash out Links, this makes them more strict on timing opposed to Cancels. If you can perfect long links with your characters you can prioritize more damage from your moves from links opposed to cancels. An example of a short link would be Ken's scaCehA.gifEl9utIT.png > scaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gifLBjSTQ5.gifscaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gifLBjSTQ5.gif + Q0JbjH3.png

Chains:

Chains are when certain normal moves can cancel and combo into each other, much like what Target combos are in Super Street Fighter IV. Check in each characters move list to see if they have an pre-set chains or target combos within their moveset. An example of a chain can look as simple as Ken's El9utIT.png > 1C8YYAo.png to something more noticeable such as Yun's El9utIT.png > 1C8YYAo.png > R81Tb8A.gif1C8YYAo.png

Breakdown / Quick Trophy Notice:

You can go about obtaining all the trophies in whatever order you wish, some trophies will come naturally so long as you can learn them and utilize them in your matches opposed to sitting in training mode with two controllers and repeating the same actions and wasting time. If possible take the time to try the following modes:

  • Training Mode
  • Parry Practice
  • Character Trials

You want to learn how to parry effectively and consistently as well as using your meter responsibly and equally for your EX moves and Super Moves. These are the following trophies that correlate with the moves you want to learn for real play:

(S)

EX-ceptional

(S)
Wax On, Wax Off

(S)
Super Artist

If you end up earning every other trophy before these you can grind the rest out with two controllers in a local match or with a boosting partner online if you don't have a second controller.

Single Player / Arcade Mode:

Believe it or not the only (G) in this game is for completing Arcade Mode once, as simple as this may sound the last boss Gill is no joke to those who are unaware of what to look out for against him. You will go through 9 stages of battles before facing Gill and if you meet the requirements under "Mystery Man" you will able to fight Q for a (S). The trophies you will be able to unlock in this portion are:

(G)

Pocket Full of Quarters

(S)
Mystery Man

Single Player / Trials:

The bane of every trophy hunters existence in a fighting game, Trials! While experienced players can easily knock this trophy out in a matter of time others may have trouble linking the moves within the trials. You have 2 parry trials, 1 handicap trial and separate trials for each character. There are 5 trials per section leaving you with 110 possible trials you can complete (which is basically 50%) of the trials. This part is strictly skill based and could be the reason for the large gap in time to competition depending on your skill. You will earn the following trophies in this portion:

(S)

Practice Makes Perfect

If you are having trouble with the trials you could also use the visual aids from VesperArcade's Youtube Channel where he displays each trial and his inputs on his stick while he does it.

Online Mode / Tournament & 5 Ranked Wins

During this portion you will be playing online against other players for two trophies. One trophy comes very easy as you only have to take part in the tournament and watch it from start to finish whereas the other trophy you must faced random opponents in Online Ranked, there are no custom settings when looking for a match so you are left with your skills alone to rely on. If you are having trouble refer to the fundamental tips and links supplied earlier in the roadmap as well as take the time to research a character and the do's and don'ts around that character. You will earn the following trophies in this portion:

(B)

The Bitter End

(S)
Going Streaking

Online Mode / Replays

In this step you will require replays, if you have completed any matches online and forgot to save your replay they should be under "Unsaved Replays" which you can then save into your "Saved Replays". For one trophy you must simply upload it to the Match Server for other players to watch and critic and for the other you must watch a replay with a friend from start to finish, it really is a simple step. The trophies you will be able to unlock in this portion are:

(B)

Sharing is Caring

(B)
Couch Potato

If you need to find a boosting partner for any of these trophies please refer to the following thread: Trophy Boosting Thread

Conclusion of Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online Edition:

This game really is a must buy for any fighting game fan and those who have previously played Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike on previous consoles, the amount of nostalgia you will get from this game is worth the money. Experienced players can knock his game out with ease while other players will struggle, its time for the 3rd Strike!

If you were curious about the "Upload to Youtube" selection the way it works is the same way as you would Match Server just a tad bit longer. It will ask you for your youtube email and password before uploading afterwards you have to wait through the process of it actually uploading, depending on your service provider it may take a very short or long time. Sadly the server on 3rd Strike can only upload replays in 240p, below you will see an example of an upload to youtube from 3rd Strike Online Edition:

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/684/949.jpgEX-ceptional (B)

Complete the third tier of the challenge “EX-ceptional” in any mode.

The challenge "EX-ceptional" is for performing x amount of EX Moves, the third tier of this challenge requires you to perform an overall total of 100 EX Moves.

EX moves are stronger variations of a characters Special Moves. To perform an EX move you must simply press 2 of the 3 Z1v8cGW.png or Q0JbjH3.png buttons at the same opposed to just the one. Here is an example of how to perform an EX move:

  • Hadouken: scaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gifLBjSTQ5.gif + Z1v8cGW.png
  • EX-Hadouken: scaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gifLBjSTQ5.gif + http://i.imgur.com/Ez9BWnB.png

To use an EX move you require at least half a bar of meter you will know when you used an EX move when you lost half a bar of meter and when your character flashes a quick yellow when the move comes out.

2rAtUSY.png

Utilizing EX Moves in Real Play:

EX moves can be used to link moves together that wouldn't normally link as well as serve as combo enders. EX moves are an excellent way of chipping out an opponent with little to no health left or just trying to get a Special Move out fast to punish if opponent whiffs an attack.

If you don't have a second controller and need to find a boosting partner to make this trophy easier please refer to the following thread: Trophy Boosting Thread

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/684/053.jpgWax On, Wax Off (B)

Complete the third tier of the challenge “Wax On, Wax Off” in any mode.

The challenge "Wax On, Wax Off" is for performing x amount of Parry moves, the third tier of this challenge requires you to perform an overall total of 75 Parries.

While in regular fighting games you would hold your directional pad the opposite direction (R81Tb8A.gif or gDyPbph.gif) to block an attack, in 3rd Strike there is another form of blocking known as Parrying where instead of moving the directional pad away from the attack you would input towards the attack (LBjSTQ5.gif or GDJsmya.gif). This may sound simple however the timing for a parry is very strict, you basically have to predict your opponents next attack and then press the direction the attack is going to come from a couple of seconds or frames before it actually hits. Hadouken's (scaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gifLBjSTQ5.gif + Z1v8cGW.png) from Ryu, Ken or Akuma are the one of the easiest moves to parry or to practicing parry against, other projectiles work just as well. If you're trying to grind out a couple more parries for your trophy you can also spam http://i.imgur.com/DO03wXY.png on one controller and parry all of those right next to you. You will know when you have successfully parried a move if your character flashes white for a split second.

Utilizing Parry Moves in Real Play:

Parrying is what makes 3rd Strike the game it is, if you ever hope to play 3rd Strike at a competitive level then you must absolutely learn how to parry consistently and effectively. Parrying a move has so many benefits to it if done successfully.

If you look at the EVO Moment video at the top of the roadmap you will notice the played Daigo Umehara performed a "Parry" on all of Chun-Lis multi-hit Super Move and then followed it up with a combo of his own to win the match, that moment is a perfect example of how a Parry should be utilized.

Avoiding Chip Damage:

When you block a Special or Super Move normally you would take what is known as Chip Damage. Chip Damage is unavoidable making it hard to fight player's who apply a lot of pressure on you forcing you into a corner however with a parry you can avoid that Chip Damage. The only downside to this is that you must predict your opponents move, whether it will be high or low and when they're going to use it. Doing a success parry meets you were knew what to expect from your opponent and you countered properly

No Block or Hit Stun:

Normally when you block an attack your character will be stuck in the blocking animation for a small period of time however it won't allow you enough time to punish your opponent's attack. When you parry a move you avoid the Block Stun and are able to follow up the parry with a move of your own, with the proper reactions a parry could be a way of getting in on your opponent to do damage.

If you don't have a second controller and need to find a boosting partner to make this trophy easier please refer to the following thread: Trophy Boosting Thread

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/684/925.jpgSuper Artist (B)

Complete the third tier of the challenge “Super Artist” in any mode.

The challenge "Super Artist" is for performing x amount of Super Moves, the third tier of this challenge requires you to perform an overall total of 75 Super Moves.

During character select after you have selected a character you will be asked what "Super Move" you want assigned to the character for this match, it'll display the name of the Super as well as the input to use it. For example if you were to select Ken it will give you a scroll bar with the following Super Moves:

  • Super Dragon Punch (Shouryuu-Reppa): scaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gifLBjSTQ5.gifscaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gifLBjSTQ5.gif + Z1v8cGW.png
  • Super Vertical Dragon Punch (Shinryuu-Ken): scaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gifLBjSTQ5.gifscaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gifLBjSTQ5.gif + Push Q0JbjH3.png Rapidly
  • Shippuu-Jinrai-Kyaku: scaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gifLBjSTQ5.gifscaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gifLBjSTQ5.gif + Q0JbjH3.png

Super Moves require 1 or more bars of Super Meter displayed at the bottom of your screen, when you perform one a lighting like effect will flash on your character and perform the super. Simply perform at least 75 Super Moves over the course of playing 3rd Strike: Online Edition and this trophy should pop!

Utilizing Super Moves in Real Play:

Super Moves are perfect for combo enders you never want to throw out a random super even against the most inexperienced players are they are easily punishable. Here is an example of a Combo Link for Ken's Shippuu-Jinrai-Kyaku:

scaCehA.gifUUFtJvW.png Cancel Into Shippuu-Jinrai-Kyaku: scaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gifLBjSTQ5.gifscaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gifLBjSTQ5.gif + Q0JbjH3.png

Using the scaCehA.gifUUFtJvW.png you can use it to confirm your hit and if it was successful quickly cancel into Shippuu-Jinrai-Kyaku, this will help you utilize your meter and prioritize damage.

If you don't have a second controller and need to find a boosting partner to make this trophy easier please refer to the following thread: Trophy Boosting Thread

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/684/68A.jpgGoing Streaking (S)

Complete the second tier of the challenge “Going Streaking” in ranked online mode.

The challenge "Going Streaking" is for obtaining x amount of wins in a row, the second tier of this challenge requires you to obtain 5 wins in a row, for this trophy is must be done in ranked online mode.

While veteran players may not have a problem obtaining this trophy, inexperienced players will. You have to keep the fundamentals described in the roadmap in mind when going for this trophy the legitimate way. There are ways to help you keep your win streak, one of which may give you a bad reputation as a gamer.

Quit Out:

There are two forms of quitting out, the first way is when you search for an opponent in ranked match when you fare matched up with your opponent you can press :cross: to ready up or :circle: to back out of the lobby room. If you find yourself matched up with someone with a significantly high level you can back out and re-search.

This way will leave with you a bad reputation if done, if you have a 3 game win streak for example and you are about to lose you can press :start: and quit out to avoid losing your streak. Also, if anyone decides to rage quit and disconnect on you then it will count as a victory towards this trophy.

Loading your Save:

It is also worth noting your win streaks are stored locally in your SFIII:3SOE save file on the PS3. For example: If you compile a two-game winning streak, you can quit to the XMB and backup your save file to "preserve" that winning streak. Now if you then lose the third ranked battle, simply restore that save and your previous streak will continue. You can keep doing this until you eventually get a five-win streak to unlock the trophy.

The tier list for 3rd Strike or for any fighting game usually different from source to source however in the 3rd Strike tier list where ever you look you will find Ken and Chun-Li somewhere in the top, with this said Ken and Chun-Li are good selections for beginning players:

1NNt35r.png Strategies (Ken):

Ken has good consistent damage making him an excellent selection for first comers. He has a fast dash so he can get in on opponents easily and just about every one of his moves can combo into super. Things you want to keep in mind with Ken are:

Choice of Super: Shippuu-Jinrai-Kyaku: scaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gifLBjSTQ5.gifscaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gifLBjSTQ5.gif + Q0JbjH3.png

This is Ken's universal Super, while it may not do as much damage as Super Dragon Punch (Shouryuu-Reppa) it can however combo out of basically anything Ken does making it the best choice of Super.

scaCehA.gifEl9utIT.png

This is a very fast and easy way to gain meter even just inputting this at nothing will build meter. It is also a fast input so if you see your opponent trying to get in on you while you build meter you can counter accordingly.

scaCehA.gifUUFtJvW.png

This move is a fast downward kick, it's very easy to hit confirm with it into Shippuu-Jinrai-Kyaku and it also acts as an excellent poke to get in.

EfMyTvr.png Strategies (Chun-Li):

Chun-Li is a patient smart character to play as, you turtle and wait for openings and poke out your opponents for little damage but once you have enough meter you can hit confirm in Super for a large amount of damage at one time making up for the time you spent being defensive.

Choice of Super: Super Lightning Legs (Houyoku-Sen) scaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gifLBjSTQ5.gifscaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gifLBjSTQ5.gif + Q0JbjH3.png

Just like Ken's Shippuu-Jinrai-Kyaku it is very easy to combo into and it comes with many benefits as well. It has invincibility so you can use it to punish unnecessary projectiles shot at you, gives you a lot of meter while doing it and takes off an unfair amount of life.

R81Tb8A.gif1C8YYAo.png

Not only is this one of Chun-Li's best pokes but it also builds a lot of meter. It has a lot of priority and beats out just about any character's normals, while the downside to this is that it may have such small range it is easily made up for with its speed, damage and everything else.

scaCehA.gifUUFtJvW.png

Just like Ken's downward kick this move is one of Chun-Li's best normals and pokes and can easily be hit confirmed into Super Lightning Legs (Houyoku-Sen).

You can look up more in-depth strategies and information about Ken, Chun-Li and other characters in the links below:

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/684/2B5.jpgPractice Makes Perfect (S)

Complete the challenge “Practice Makes Perfect”.

The challenge "Practice Makes Perfect" is for completing 55/110 trials in Trials Mode.

The trials are much like any other form of trial mode in the fighting game, you are given character combos you must perform successfully. 3rd Strike Online Edition has also give you 3 extra trial sections next to the usual character trials such as:

  • Basic Parrying
  • Advancing Parrying
  • Handicap Trials

Parrying Trials:

Just as it is titled you are given different parrying trials which start from something as simple as parrying a hadoken, to multiple hit supers and finally performing the famous EVO moment where Daigo Umehara parries Chun-Li's Multi-hit Super and following it up with a Super Combo Finish to win the match.

Handicap Trials:

These trials are 1 rounds matches where you are given a health deduction and you must defeat an opponent under a specific difficult setting. As you complete each of trials the handicap becomes higher and higher as you are slowly reduced to no health at all where one hit can kill you facing a CPU opponent on expert difficulty.

If you are having trouble with the trials you could also use the visual aids from VesperArcade's Youtube Channel where he displays each trial and his inputs on his stick while he does it.

Make Your Trials VERY Easy:

While this trick may not work for a couple of the trials it works very well with most of them. Basically you enter training mode and press :start:, select dummy settings and switch stun "on". Confirm you have it on by hitting your training dummy and they should be stunned when you hit them (It'll be indicated with baby chicks flying around their head).

Once you have this confirmed exit out into any of the character trials and the red stun bar below their health bar should now be full. This makes linking combos much easier as you are now given two chances to link your combos together. For example say you are trying to do Ken's 3rd Character Trial aka the follow up from the EVO moment which is: Air DuC0lqI.png > scaCehA.gifUUFtJvW.png > Strong Shoryuken (LBjSTQ5.gifscaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gif+El9utIT.png) > Shippuu-Jinrai-Kyaku (scaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gifLBjSTQ5.gifscaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gifLBjSTQ5.gif + Q0JbjH3.png)

You can link together the Air DuC0lqI.png > scaCehA.gifUUFtJvW.png and then with the stun it'll give a little breathing room to connect Strong Shoryuken (LBjSTQ5.gifscaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gif+El9utIT.png) > Shippuu-Jinrai-Kyaku (scaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gifLBjSTQ5.gifscaCehA.gifGDJsmya.gifLBjSTQ5.gif + Q0JbjH3.png)

If you are using this guide and the glitch as already been patched, then you can follow the steps below to get rid of the update so that you may use the stun glitch again.

  1. Under Games, highlight the 3rd Strike game then press :triangle: and delete it.
  2. Go into your Transaction History and re-download the game.
  3. Now start the game without accepting the update and you should be able to use the Stun Glitch again.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/684/1BD.jpgSticks & Stones (S)

Complete the first tier of the challenge “Sticks & Stones” in any mode.

The challenge "Sticks & Stones" is for winning a round with a taunt, the first tier of the challenge requires you to do it once.

To perform a taunt you must input 1C8YYAo.png + DuC0lqI.png, some characters will deal damage if there taunt makes contact with the opponent. The characters that can damage an opponent off a taunt are as follow:

  • Dudley
  • Elena
  • Ibuki
  • Ken
  • Makoto
  • Necro
  • Sean
  • Urien
  • Yun
  • Yang

You can do this in either a Local Match or Player Match in Multiplayer. To make the process faster have the player who will be dying set their handicap to 1 star then you can just weaker him with a couple es9kNNj.png inputs and then finish them off with the taunt for your trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/684/F6C.jpgPocket Full Of Quarters (G)

Complete the challenge “Pocket Full Of Quarters”.

The challenge "Pocket Full of Quarters" for completing Arcade Mode just once.

In Arcade mode you must go through 9 stages of fights, for the first 8 stages you are given the choice to pick whom you want to fight for that round. While playing you will have to complete bonus stages for destroying a truck and for parrying basketballs from Sean. After these bonus stages the difficulty increases a little significantly. When going for this trophy it is highly recommended that you use Gill for those who have preordered the game or bought the add-on for him otherwise use a character such as Chun-Li or Ken with the strategies provided under "Going Streaking". You can also use these same tactics while you are working towards "Mystery Man".

lFxxRJ2.png Fight Against Gill:

The increase in difficulty is the least of your worries as the real opponent you must fear is Gill. Gill is one of those characters banned from tournaments because of how overpowered he is. He has 3 Super Moves all open for him to use. The Super Moves are as follow:

Meteor Strike

Meteor Strike is a long projectile move where Gill calls upon multiple Cryo and Pyrokinesis from the sky onto your side of the screen. Blocking this is easy so long as you are on the ground and it does very little chip damage however if you were to get hit it could easily do about 80% of your health.

Seraphic Wing

Seraphic Wing is a full screen, unavoidable super where Gill will rise in the air with 6 wings and lightwaves will emit from his body. On block it can do about 20% to 30% damage however if it were to hit you it can practically kill you (90% - 100%). Though if you try to hit him out of the move while he is rising he will keep the 1 bar of meter, you can however wait for the move to end and punish him if you are within range.

Resurrection

The one super you want to prevent from happening is Resurrection, if Gill has a full bar of meter when he loses all his health he will revive with full health and you must continue fighting against him. Trying waiting out the battle when he has a full bar of meter and hope he uses Meteor Strike or Seraphic Wing.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/684/871.jpgMystery Man (S)

Complete the challenge “Mystery Man”.

The challenge "Mystery Man" for facing Q in Arcade Mode.

Around stage 7 if you have met the requirements to facing Q you will see a dark image of Q move across the screen indicating you have fulfilled the requirements correctly, the requirements to face Q are:

  • Don't lose any rounds
  • Don't get a continue
  • Get at least a grade D or better on every stage
  • Get 2 or more Special Points
  • Get x amount of Super Art Finished, x equals:
    • 1 round: 3 Super Finishes
    • 3 rounds: 5 Super Finishes
    • 5 rounds: 7 Super Finishes
    • 7 rounds: 9 Super Finishes

Additional Tips:

For this trophy you can use a second controller and press :start: when you are about to lose a round that will ruin your chance at fighting Q, when you do press :start: and play local match against an unmoving character trying knocking out some of the EX or Super moves from the long term trophies.

You can also go into your "settings" and select "dipswitches" and turn off all of the guard options so that you and your opponent can no longer guard, this will make Q much easier to encounter as you don't have to worry about your opponent guarding your Supers and you can practically pound on them with whatever character you choose. Doing this however will void out "Pocket Full of Quarters" and it will not unlock upon finishing Arcade Mode.

Getting Grade D or Better:

The grading system at the end of each match is the same as most other SF games where it is gauged by the ratio and amount of successful parries, blocks, normal hits, supers and etc. For experienced players you could probably set the round settings to best of 1 and still pull out of each match with at least a D however for experienced players you maybe have to set to rounds to best 2 of 3 or more to give you more chances at hitting, blocking and using supers as the amount that you do should push you pass a D despite an average or low ratio.

Special Points:

Special Points refer to having a higher grade than what you received from your previous match so say you receive a D in your 1st Stage and then receive a D+ in 2nd Stage then that will count as a Special Point. You can 8 Stages to accomplish this. If you are averaging at least a D in each stage you are bound to get a D+ or better in other stages.

WOW! Very informative for a PSN title. I figured the game will be difficult if you're inexperienced. I'm gonna try the demo before I give this a shot for 100%.

LOL you should know about very informative PSN guides, your Moon Diver guide is no joke.

Ex-ception is 100 ex moves.

the super one is 75 supers

and the ranked wins was only 3 in a row for me.

You probably saw the post before it was edited. I had wrong information there before as it was a place holder from my write up before the amount for the challenges were confirmed when the game came out.

Very nice. After reading this it makes you very comfortable with the trophy set. Love the videos so far, especially for Q! :D

Finally a nod to the real play tidbit on parrying. Especially considering how important it is to 3rd strike. Ahh memories.

I would have the other videos already uploaded if it wasn't for my terribad connection. Ill probably put them all on upload tonight before I go to sleep and insert them in the morning. :)

I never realized how hard the EVO moment really was until trying the trial AND he did it on instinct on the spot of a big name tournament. Truly much more respectable of a feat.

can you get trophies in training mode?

You cannot, the progress towards any challenges doesn't show up in training mode when you do anything.

Wow Setsuna! I knew you would be doing the guide for some reason. LOL Good stuff man. I'm halfway through the trophies right now. I gotta sync them.

Thanks I wonder why :p. I'm going to finish up my trophies tonight, I've spent a majority of my time recording and finishing this thread up lol (which still isn't "complete"). If you know of anything additionals would you like to see let me know, I still have a couple videos to upload and a couple screencaps to put in.

God damn it, even with the extra details to unlock Q from Arcade mode in your guide - I can barely even get a D rating after matches and the difficulty setting is on 1 star.

Who are you using, me personally I found Chun Li VERY easy to use. I would build meter by spamming Back :r1: and poke at enemies that got near me, I would usually never use any EX's and only use my Super when they are near death so I would get additional points towards my grade.

I'd like to also recommend, for guys like myself who completely suck, may be adding what M (fist), H (fist) and just a foot actually means controller wise.

For example; M (foot) is the O button. L(foot) is the X button, etc.

I myself would find that to be vital for completing some of these Combo Trials because I sometimes have no freaking clue what buttons I should be pressing

Everyone has been recommending using Gill but I'm guessing that is only for the Pocket Full of Quarters trophy because his combo's seem difficult. I always just spam fire ball, lateral kick and low kick. I've even went perfect a few rounds and still only received an E++ !

I detailed them in the second post of the roadmap actually.

Ah yes. You must have added them after I had first seen your guide. Thanks!

Try getting a Super Combo Finish ?

I've tried that but a lot of the time they simply block it.. I guess I will try Chun Li and see how I do!

What do the XX and \/ mean under combo moves? Is XX telling me I need to do that move twice?

The best way to get around that is to combo into it OR you can go into your options and under dipswitches and turn off all the guards, now you and your opponent cannot block and this will make unlocking Q much easier (I was playing around in my options and decided to test it on 360 and it worked and got me the achievement so it wasn't updated in the guide ... YET) however doing this wouldn't give me the trophy for clearing arcade mode.

wow, surprisingly well written your guide my friend, very detailed and informative.

Always love your Fighting game guides Setsuna, much thanks!

Thank you for your support guys! :)

Another great guide as usual, Setsuna. :applause:

The trophies look easy, especially when I just need to do 50% of the trials. Thought SF3 never appealed me, especially with Remy being Guile's replacement.

Are the ranked match boostable like SSFIV? Or they are forced random opponents like in MvC3 & MK?
