Roadmap

Overview:

• Estimated Trophy Difficulty: 4.5/10

• Offline Trophies: 15 (13 (B), 1 (S), 1 (G))

• Online Trophies: None

• Approximate time to 100%: 3-10 hours (depending on skill)

*This game can be played with either a Move controller or a normal one. The Move controller is more precise but the DS3 controller worked fine for me.*

Introduction:

StarDrone is an unorthodox PSN Puzzle game blending pinball and physics with a little arcade touch.

In StarDrone, you will (somewhat) take control of an asteroid called Drone. Your goal is to free the galaxy from the Evil G-Noids. The game is divided in 53 levels. There are few available at the start and you will need to clear them to unlock more and more levels. Most of the trophies are easy to get but the silver and gold ones may cause you trouble due to some hard levels.

General Informations:

In StarDrone, there are 3 main level types:

- Collect stuff (stars, gems, or Equilibrix (Big Star) parts)

- Destroy all enemies

- Head to the finish line

Controls:

In this game you can't really control your Drone. At the start of a level you can only choose the direction where you want to launch the Drone. It will then strictly follow this direction unless you activate (by pressing/holding :cross: for the DS3 controller or :move: for the Move controller) triangle devices called beacons. When activated, your Drone will launch some sort of grapple-hook on them and it will affect its path. This is the main mechanism of the game so physics will take an important role in this game.

Comet Rush Mode:

In order to destroy enemies, you have to be in comet rush mode (except for G-Noids Mines and Turrets). To enter comet rush mode, you have to light up enough stars to fill completely the bar appearing when you light one.

Once in comet rush mode, your asteroid will have spikes on it and a light orange glow. You will then be able to destroy enemies and obstacles without harm and in a single hit (except for G-Noids Turrets). Beware though that the comet rush mode is time-limited and you will have to light stars to stay in this mode.

Power-ups:

There are three power-ups in this game that will make your journey easier: Magnet, Berserk and Invisibility. At the game main menu, search in the 'How to play' section to see what the power-ups look like. Their effects are temporary but really useful.

- The Invisibilty power-up will make your Drone invisible. Once you are invisible, enemies won't be able to track you (Creepers, Turrets rockets). But they can still hurt you.

- The Magnet power-up will create a purple-glowing field around your Drone. With this power-up, you can collect stuff way more easily.

- The Berserk power-up will turn your Drone red. If you are near enemies while in this state, your Drone will automatically rush on them and destroy them. You can keep your Drone from dashing by attracting the Drone with a beacon.

Anyway, while in this state, you can't collect stuff.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Warm-up to mid-game playthrough

At the game main menu, you should take a look at the 'How to play' section to get a general overview of the game. When done, go to 'Play the game'. The first game levels are really easy and are there to let you learn the game basics. You can skip levels but I suggest you to play them chronologically since they are not very hard. After completing the first half of the game levels, you should have earned most of the trophies.

The 'New Hope', 'Passed 10 levels', 'Passed 20 levels!' trophies can't be missed. You should also unlock 'First Blood!', 'Rocket Kill!', 'Epic Fail!' (unless you are very good at this game on your first playthrough) without looking at the trophy guide.

Step 2: Mid-game to Near-end playthrough

The other half of the game levels are harder to complete so if you struggle too much on some, you can skip them (Press :start:, :square: (level select) and choose the next one). After this step, you should unlock the 'Passed 30 levels!' and 'Passed 40 levels!' trophies.

Step 3: Game Finished & Medalist trophies

These are the hardest trophies of the game and can be earned at the same time because some levels are really hard to complete (especially the last level). If you've skipped some levels before, go back to play them and keep trying.

Step 4: Clean up

Did you miss some trophies? Now is your time to get them. Besides 'Game Finished', and 'Medalist', the trophies are really easy to get.

Closing notes:

This game is interesting and the physics part is pretty original. It might get repetitive after a while though. If you want to share tips, strategies, complaints, etc. feel free to comment. If you have really important remarks about this guide (e.g. better way to get a trophy), and I didn't reply on this thread, send me a private message.

Thank you for reading and have fun!

Trophy Guide

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/948/02.jpgFirst blood! (B)

Destroyed an enemy Creeper for the first time

You have to destroy a Creeper to get this trophy. The Creepers are the balls-of-steel with-glowing-mouth-and-eyes. You will first meet them on level 14 ('A-Mazing'). There are plenty of them in the middle of this level so it would be hard to miss this trophy. In fact, you can even easily get the 'Ragin drone!' trophy on this level.

Anyway, once you have destroyed your first Creeper, you will unlock this trophy.

Note: Check the 'General Information' section of the roadmap to learn the basic way to destroy enemies.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/948/03.jpgVibemaster destroyer (B)

Destroyed the Vibemaster boss

You will come across the Vibemaster boss only on level 52 ('Vibemasters Hive'). There will be three Vibemasters but you only need to destroy one of them for the trophy.

To destroy them, you have to wait until they 'open' themselves and reveal their brain. Hit it to destroy them. You have to be quick because they won't be 'open' very long. If you are too slow, they will launch a burst attack and 'close' themselves and you will have to wait again.

Once you have destroyed one Vibemaster, you will get the trophy.

Note (credits to patacama): The Vibemasters only 'open' when they are closer to stars that you have lit up.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/948/04.jpgRocket Kill! (B)

Destroyed any enemy with a rocket

You will most likely get this trophy on level 22 ('Rockets!'). The G-Noid Turrets launch rockets that follow you in a random zigzag pattern. Since it is really random, the rockets can also unintentionally hit and destroy enemies.

This trophy is really easy to get. Just normally play the level by focusing on lighting up stars and you will get it in no time.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/948/05.jpgTurret destroyer (B)

Destroy a g-noid's turret

Your first chance to get this trophy is when playing level 22 ('Rockets!'). Unlike other enemies, Turrets need many hits to be destroyed, even in Comet Rush Mode. Keep hitting one of them until destruction to earn this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/948/06.jpgRaging drone! (B)

Wiped out 10 enemies in Rage mode

:tagdatetime:

You must destroy 10 enemies in Comet Rush Mode (I don't know why they put Rage instead of Comet Rush). Your first chance to get this trophy is when playing on level 14 ('A-Mazing'). There are lots of Creepers gathered in the middle of the map so it shouldn't be hard to get it. You will most likely get this trophy just after 'First Blood!' on this level.

Important note: You must destroy the 10 enemies in a really short amount of time. You know you will get this trophy if you manage to get an orange 'combo kill x10' message. If the combo ends before, restart the level.

Let's rock!

Simply complete any level of the game to get this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/948/11.jpgGame Finished (S)

Passed all game levels

You have to clear all the levels to unlock this trophy. However, you don't need to get medals in the levels to get this trophy.

Notes: You can play the levels in any order you want as long as you have unlocked them. Most of the levels are not really hard so I suggest you to play them chronologically. If you struggle too much with a specific level on your first playthrough, you can skip it (Press :start:, then :square: and choose the next level on the list), and complete it later. The last level ('Kamikaze') is the hardest to complete. Practice a lot and you will eventually beat it.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/948/01.jpgMedalist (G)

Get awarded with at least one medal in every level

This is the hardest trophy of the game (hence it is gold). Medals are time related. The quicker you finish a level, the better the medal will be. Thankfully, you only need a bronze medal, at least, on each level to get this trophy. The last two levels ('Videmaster Hive' and 'Kamikaze') are the hardest levels to get a medal in (short amount of time for 'Videmaster Hive' and important difficulty for 'Kamikaze'). Keep trying and you will eventually get this trophy.

Secret Trophies

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/948/12.jpgLost in space.. (B)(H)

Lost in space 3 times...

You have to get 'sucked' by black holes 3 times on the same level and in one sitting (credits to legrooos for the information). To get 'lost in space', you have to go off the limits of a level. Your first opportunity to get this trophy is when playing level 2 'Bricks'.

Here is the easiest and most secure method to get this trophy: On level 2 'Bricks', restart the level (Press :start:, then :triangle:). After that, just press :cross: and do not touch anything else. You will hit and destroy red bricks, bounce back, bounce on pale green bricks, and go off the map. Wait a few seconds when out of the map and you will get 'sucked' by a black hole. Repeat this 2 more times and the trophy is yours.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/948/13.jpgI got the powah! (B)(H)

Used every power-up: Berserk, Magnet and Invisibility

You have to collect all three power-ups at least once to get this trophy. You can find the first Invisibility power-up in level 23 ('Galactoid'). The first Magnet and Berserk power-up can be found in level 24 ('Tubes?'). Once you have activated each power-up at least once, the trophy will be yours.

Note: Check the 'General Information' section of the roadmap for further information concerning the power-ups.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/948/14.jpgEpic fail! (B)(H)

Failed to complete a level in 20 attempts.

You have to die 20 times in a row while playing a level to get this trophy. You can die in several ways: by getting killed by g-noids (Creeper, Mine, Vibemaster, Turret), spikes or black holes (Check 'Lost in space..' description).

Your first opportunity is when playing level 2 ('Bricks') but level 12 ('Donut of Pain') is a better choice in my opinion. After the 20th death, the trophy will unlock.

Hey!

I've just finished the game, and I think that the only two hard maps to get a medal are the last two maps (in the game's order), and the last is pain without going for a medal anyways.

And I think that the Vibemaster bosses only open when they are closer to the stars that you have earned.

There are other levels that I found hard to do on first attempts but you're right: last level (kamikaze) was a real challenge. My heartbeat went crazy while playing this level. For the Vibemasters, I'm not quite sure what trigger their 'opening'. I'll look for a sure way later. ;)

PS: does the guide look good for you so far ?

I'd like to suggest an amendment to the walkthrough part of the roadmap that I think would make the "Approximate time to 100%" smaller.

The Medalist trophy is suggested at step 3, I'd like to suggest players to try to get one medal on every stage they play the first time they play it. By doing this they don't have to "go back later and try to remember the stage" and since StarDrone doesn't have any accumulative benefits later on which can be carried back to early stages (like you don't get new weapons from later stages or whatever) the medals can be achieved on the go! (if you want to get 100% faster!)

Also I wanna add something to the Medalist trophy description:

"Set the gameplay speed at max (unless you're struggling with some stages you can set it to a lower value) and use the L1/R1 to free-look after you've launched the drone. This will optimize your time because you won't have to react to the stage in real-time (be careful though, using free-look pauses the timer but when resuming the drone has to build up momentum). You'll probably get a medal by using this technique the first time you clear that stage."

(Feel free to edit the above description if you decide to merge it into the Medalist trophy description)
