[*]Special hardware required for platinum? Not applicable.

Road Map

Introduction: Welcome to Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. This is an action based title in which you play as Starkiller, a young apprentice to Darth Vader that is very gifted in the ways of the Force. The events of this game are supposed to take place between Episodes III and IV of the Star Wars saga. In fact, these events have been adopted into the Star Wars universe cannon, by George Lucas, himself. While taking control of Starkiller, you will kill hordes of enemies ranging from your typical storm trooper to a 50 foot rancor, and of course, you’ll have some intense Jedi battles. As the title of the game suggests, you unleash the Force heavily throughout this game. Unfortunately, it remains true that the Force can be somewhat unwieldy. This probably accounts for the often shameful excuse for controls that this game has. Overall, this game is a very manageable platinum, provided you are willing to cheat. (See below.) If not, be prepared to curse heavily at your TV/PS3 while you are getting your ass handed to you on a Corellian platter. Now, here's some guidance about how I recommend playing this game:

Step 1: Complete the story mode trophies. There are two ways to go about doing this:

  • Jedi Master way: Here you are a man (or woman) of integrity. You will not take the easy way out. You look into the face of adversity and say “I am a Jedi Master, bring it on!”. You will play through the campaign on Sith Lord difficulty to unlock Sith Master difficulty. Once you have Sith Master unlocked, you will (attempt to) beat the campaign again. You will not cheat. As a consequence, you will get your ass kicked and you will most likely turn to the dark side. This leads us to the way you should have chosen all along…
  • Sith Master way: Here you will use all the powers available to you to get through the campaign trophies as quickly as possible. You will use all of the cheats outlined above strictly adhering to the policy: “The ends justify the means”. Because you have used all of the cheats above, you will have Sith Master difficulty unlocked from the get go, and your character will be fully upgraded. So, 99% of the time, you will be able to simply run past enemies and bolt straight through to the end of a level, where a boss will await you. These are really the only places that will pose any challenge in the game, but they aren’t that challenging, because you a have cheat that allows you to replenish your health any time it gets too low. Isn’t the Dark Side great? There will still be moments that you curse at your television, but these will come far less frequently than if you attempted the Jedi Master way. You will get through the story trophies in about around 10 hours, possibly less. You will then sit back and laugh at those silly Jedis and their silly integrity.

Step 2: Mopping up everything else. Once you’ve gotten all of the story trophies, you can go back and get all of the kill and collectible trophies via mission select or by starting a new game, as necessary. In either event, you'll want to put the difficulty down to Apprentice to make the enemies easier to kill. Here are some things to remember when going for the kill trophies:

  • All of these trophies require that you kill a certain number of enemies with a particular move.
  • All of the kills for a given move need to be on a single save file in order for the trophy to unlock. So, if you kill 250 enemies with force lightning spread over two separate save files, you won’t get the trophy.
  • You can die and go and do mission select and your kill total for a given move will be unaltered.

Secret Trophies

Important remarks: All of these trophies are story related, except “Worst Day-Shift Manager Ever”. Be warned: a few key story elements are discussed in this section of the guide. Here is a link to a post on our sister site that provides some nice strategies for bosses and strong enemies: Star Wars: TFU boss and enemy strategies.

[spoiler=secret1]On the very last stage, you will face Darth Vader. Upon pummeling him, you will be given the option to fight Darth Vader again (in a stronger, uglier form) or to fight the Emperor. You make this choice by running towards the appropriate person. I recommend going for the Emperor on your Sith Master run and going back for Vader on Apprentice difficulty. However, it’s entirely up to you. If you went for the Emperor first, then you can get this trophy via mission select.

Kill 12 Stormtroopers as Vader during the Prologue

[spoiler=secret3]This will almost definitely come naturally or in the course of your other kill trophies. If you, somehow, don’t get this naturally, then just go to the area just after you Force push the large door in the beginning of the level. This is a Stromtrooper spawn area.

Kill (with a Specific Move) Trophies

Reminders:

  1. All of these trophies require that you kill a certain number of enemies with a particular move.
  2. All of the kills for a given move need to be on a single save file in order for the trophy to unlock. So, if you kill 250 enemies with force lightning spread over two separate save files, you won’t get the trophy.
  3. You can die and go and do mission select and your kill total for a given move will be unaltered.

A frenzy is achieved by killing three enemies in quick succession. Every enemy you kill after you initiate a frenzy adds one to your frenzy count. So, you will need to kill fourteen enemies fast to achieve this trophy. The prologue’s Wookie spawning spot is an ideal place for this trophy. See "Force Repulse Mastery" for more details on the spawning spot.

You should do this (and all the trophies that reference this one) during the prologue, by farming the prologue’s Stormtrooper and Wookie spawn spots. These are two locations in the prologue mission that have either Stormtroopers or Wookies that spawn in great numbers. The first is located at the beginning of the mission just after you force push the first gate open. Some Stormtroopers will appear behind you and if you kill them, more will respawn. The second is after you take the lift up the tree. A TIE-fighter will crash into a bridge an then a bunch of Wookies will start charging you. These Wookies will also respawn for while as you kill them off. If you want to farm these areas, don't advance to far beyond them otherwise the spawning will stop. Since the Stormtrooper spawn spot appears first, try to keep a mental tally of how many kills you’ve gotten there and try to only move on after you’ve hit 200. Now, when you’re at the Wookie spawn spot, be sure that you don’t go past the area where the Wookies are spawning. If you do, then you’ll have start all over, if you want to use this spawning area. This is because you can’t level select the prologue. However, if you find that the Wookies aren’t spawning anymore, you can just pause, manually save the game, quit and then continue. You’ll be brought back just before the spawn point and you can resume your Wookie massacre.

NOTE: The above strategy has been edited, since I've been told that you can't kill yourself by jumping off the bridge (although I could have sworn you could).

Defeat 100 enemies with Aerial Ambush juggle combos

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/195/44.jpg Lightning Shield (S)

Defeat 500 enemies with Lightning Shield

You cannot do this in the prologue as Vader, as he lacks the necessary moves. However, these are easy enough to get by playing multiple runs through the first non-prologue level over and over on Apprentice difficulty. In fact, a solid way to grind out these kills is just to decimate the enemies in the first hanger, as there are quite a few. Now, save, restart the level and repeat.

eLefAdEr has this to add:

...As stated, the beginning of the Tie Fighter Factory and the Prologue levels are the best places to do this. For clarification on the Tie Fighter Factory method, once the big room has been cleared of enemies, manually save, go the the Level Select menu, select Tie Fighter Factory, and Load Last Checkpoint instead of Restart Level. It will put you right where you have control of the character, instead of at the beginning of the first cutscene, which you can't skip.

There is one more bit of info you should know specific to this trophy. When activate your Lighting Shield, you should "fully" activate it. To do this, press and hold :l2:, then press and hold :triangle: until your entire force bar is drained. Now, your shield will last much longer and it will actively shock anybody in range. Also, if you melee someone while in Lightning Shield, those kills will count towards your total.

Miscellaneous Trophies

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/195/19.jpg PROXY Won't Be Happy (B)

Destroy 35 droids

Only “passive” droids count towards this trophy; i.e. droids that aren’t trying to kill you. There are plenty of them scattered throughout the game, but if you still don’t have this after one play-through, just go to the first (non-prologue) level. There are 6 right at the very beginning of the level. Kill them, save and then restart the level. Repeat until the trophy pops.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/195/20.jpg Rebel Leader (B)

Defeat 500 Imperials

If you are playing through this game normally, you will most likely get this one without trying during the course of your first play-through. However, if you are flying through the levels because you’re using the cheats, then you will need to farm a bit. There are any number of good places to farm this one out, but playing through the first non-prologue mission on Apprentice difficulty over and over is probably the fastest way. Be sure to only farm this one after you’ve gotten all the other kill trophies.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/195/23.jpg The Bigger They Are (B)

Defeat 6 Rancors

As long as you kill every single one you come across, as opposed to running past them, you'll get this one during your first play-through. Otherwise, there is always mission select.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/195/21.jpg Cannon Fodder (B)

Defeat 150 Stormtroopers

You will get this one without trying during the course of your first play-through. You can always use the prologue’s Stormtrooper spawning spot, if you want to just knock this one out.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/195/22.jpg The Harder They Fall (B)

Defeat 10 AT-STs or AT-KTs

As long as you kill every single one you come across, as opposed to running past them, you'll get this one during your first play-through. Otherwise, the last level (on Apprentice difficulty) is a good place to use mission select, since there are two right at the start of the mission.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/195/24.jpg Bully (B)

Defeat 25 Ugnaughts or Jawas

The Jawas are the little hooded guys you first encounter on Raxus Prime. Ugnaughts are the little uglies you encounter at cloud city. As long as you kill every single one you come across, you should get this during your first play-through. If not, just repeat the bar section of Cloud City.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/195/29.jpg Corellian Star (B)

Complete all bonus objectives on one level

While this is pretty easy for a number of missions, you may as well just get it on the first (non-prologue) level: TIE factory. The objective is to destroy 5 TIE-fighters. There are 5 stationary ones in the first hanger bay. Just jump to them and attack or force pull them down. Or, you can destroy the moving ones that are gunning for you later in the level, but that’s not really necessary.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/195/28.jpg Legend (G)

Earn 600,000 Force Points on a single level

This is actually an incredibly easy trophy to obtain. The reason is that your points accumulate from multiple runs through the same mission and you don’t loose points when you die. So, just pick your favorite level and play it over and over on Apprentice difficulty doing nice combos and special moves. The trophy will probably unlock after you second play-through. Or, if you’re lucky like me, you’ll get this after the last level, without even trying.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/195/30.jpg Holocron Collector (S)

Collect all Jedi holocrons in the game

Jedi holocrons are the yellow cube shaped objects that float above the ground that provide your character with upgrades. You can collect these as you go along or via level select after you've finished the game. To make sure that the game records that you've collected a holocron, you should manually save after collecting each, or at least before you quit the level. Here is a link to a written guide: IGN Holocron Guide.

This is the mother of all trophies for this game. If you do this without cheating, you are Force Unleashed god. More power to you. For the rest of us Force Unleashed mortals, cheating is the way to go. See the end of the guide for how to activate cheats without disabling trophies. Provided you’re using the cheats, you will definitely want to run through these levels as fast as you can avoiding enemies whenever possible. In any event, you’ll probably want some strategies for bosses and hard enemies. Some can be found here: Star Wars: TFU boss and enemy strategies.

Once in the training room menu, you'll see a long list of three things; lessons, challenges, and combat modules. Next to each title is a box. If it's colored green, you've completed the lesson/challenge/module. If it's black you haven't. Everything is really basic and easy, especially if you're using a character with a lot of powers/upgrades. However, you won’t be able to enter a trial until you've acquired the requisite power or combo.

Note: Labartu has verified that you can just go into a challenge and fail it and it will count as completed.

Important Remarks

  • All trophies listed from this point on are not part of the main game trophies, and therefore, do not effect obtaining the platinum.
  • You will either need to purchase the Ultimate Sith Edition of this game or download the DLC to get these trophies.
  • The Jedi Temple Guide was originally complied by olsen77, but has been revised by me to reflect some nice exploits. The remainder of the DLC guides are solely the work of olsen77. Please direct all praise (or insults) accordingly. (I wouldn't insult olsen77 though, he's an admin.)

Jedi Temple Trophies

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/195/53.jpg Robot Parts (B)

Defeat the training room in less than 2 minutes

This is the first room you should go into after clearing the entryway of the Jedi Temple. There eight blue statues that spawn combat droids here. Four are on the lower level and four are on the upper level. Once you destroy all of them (the ones on top have two phases you have to destroy), door on the other side of the room opens and you've completed the room. This is pretty easy to do, even on Sith Master. You shouldn't need to even attack one of the droids.

Special note: This is also a good spot to get the "Proxy Won't Be Happy" (main game) trophy if you haven't done so already since the droids keep respawning.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/195/55.jpg As the World Turns (B)

Use the large globe to kill 10 enemies in the museum

After going through the droid training room, you'll have to go through the museum next. In the middle of the museum, there's a very large model of a solar system. The sun globe in the center is the one you want to pull down with Force Grip and toss at the different Imperials around the room. This is much easier to do on Apprentice since you won't take nearly as much damage.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/195/54.jpg Get a Grip (B)

Defeat the trials without the sphere turning red

This is the first part of the Jedi trials. There are three stages here that you'll have to complete. All of them involve pulling a blue orb using Force Grip along a line of light. Take your time. There's no time limit here, so go very slow and be steady. If the orb leaves the line for even the shortest amount of time, you won't get this trophy. If that happens, you can just jump off the platform you're standing on and you'll restart at the beginning of this section. This can be done on any difficulty as it really doesn't matter which difficulty you choose here.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/195/52.jpg Jedi Master (G)

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/195/50.jpg Padawan (B)

Complete Jedi Temple - Sith Warrior difficulty

See the "Jedi Master" trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/195/49.jpg Youngling (B)

Complete Jedi Temple - Apprentice difficulty

Note: The difficulty trophies do not stack in the usual sense (i.e. beating it on Sith Master difficulty does not immediately unlock the related lower difficulty trophies). That said, there is a very nice way to get these trophies without playing through the entire DLC four separate times. It also has the added bonus of being much, much easier. Just go to the Cheats and Workarounds section of the guide. (You're welcome. ;))

I've revised olsen77's walk-through for this DLC. It handles Sith Master; so, bviously, it applies for all lower difficulites. However, if you're playing on Apprentice (which I recommend), then you can pretty much kill enemies in way you like. In fact, you'll often be able to just run past large chunks of enemies altogether. Here is the link to the walk-through.

Tatooine Trophies

Note: All of these trophies can be done on ANY difficulty setting. They are listed in the order in which they first become available.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/195/57.jpg Skywalker Style (S)

Meet Jabba and defeat his pet using the pit gate

If you've seen Return of the Jedi, you basically know what to do already. After you fall into the rancor pit, run to the other side of the room and use Force Grip to raise the gate. Then run through the open gate and wait there. You may have to use Saber Throw or Force Lightning to get the rancor's attention. To get to you, he'll have to pass through the open gate. As soon he's under it, the gate will automatically fall on his head. The end.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/195/58.jpg Hot Bot (B)

Use the hot irons three times on the Gonk Power Droid

When you're heading through the area beneath Jabba's palace, you'll come to a room with two droids being tortured. One will be upside down with it's feet sticking straight up in the air. Use Force Grip to pull the hot irons down on it's feet three times to get this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/195/59.jpg Jawa Juicer (B)

Crush 5 Jawas by using the grinder in the Garbage Processing Room

After you jump through the garbage chute, you'll come to a room with a large conveyor belt and a gigantic spiked drum at the end of the conveyor. Use Force Grip to pick up five of the Jawas (careful not to hit anything, because Jawas are fragile...you wouldn't want to hurt them), and place them at the end of the conveyor so they get crushed by the spiked drum.

Defeat Boba Fett

After you escape from Jabba's palace, you'll end up in a cargo bay. Here you'll fight Boba Fett. Use Force Lightning and Saber Throw against him since he spends a good part of the fight in the air. About halfway through the fight, some of Jabba's guards will appear. Take them out and then go back to fighting Boba.

Defeat Obi-Wan, before and after he becomes more powerful than you can possibly imagine

There are two phases to this fight, and you'll use the same force power for both. For the first part, hit him with Force Lightning and various saber combos. Saber Throw also works here. Once you wear him down enough, you'll begin the second phase of the fight. Here, the only thing that you can really hurt him with is Force Lightning. Once Obi-Wan is finished off, that's the end of the Tatooine DLC Mission.

Hoth Trophies

Note: The Hoth level can be done on any difficulty level. The trophies are listed according the order in which they become available.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/195/60.jpg Official PETW Member (S)

Make it through the Ice Caves without killing a single Wampa

See the "PETW Hates You" trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/195/61.jpg PETW Hates You (S)

Kill 10 Wampas in the Ice Caves

The ice caves is the first part of the Hoth pack. It's mostly platforming. The Wampas are your only enemies attacking you in this section. They look like large, white gorillas with horns and claws and they'll throw ice at you. Kill any 10 of the Wampas for this trophy, or don't kill any of them for the "Offical PETW Member" trophy.

It is possible to get both this and the other trophy in one playthroug. Just use the following strategy:

...It is indeed possible (and quite easy) to get both Official PETW Member and PETW Hates You all in 1 playthrough. Simply avoid all the wampas as you run through the first platforming section. When you use Force Push to bust open the 2nd ice-door at the end of the platforming section, as soon as you walk through the doorway the game will auto-save and the Official PETW Member trophy will pop. You can then simply spin around 180 degrees and kill the 4 wampas that were right on your heels, then fall down into the chasm. You will respawn back at the door, and the 4 wampas respawn as well. Kill them; repeat a second time. PETW Hates You will pop...

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/195/62.jpg Pull the Plug (B)

Remove the Power Battery without destroying any of the sentry turrets

After exiting the ice caves, you'll come into a room full of turrets. Ignore them and don't attack them. Break an ice wall to the left and go in. You'll find the Power Battery on a wall after you turn the corner. Pull it with Force Grip.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/195/63.jpg The Cable Guy (B)

Use the electrical cables throughout Echo Base to shock fifteen enemies

In a few spots in the Rebel Base, you'll see cables attached to machines with orange sparks coming out of the cables. Pull the cables out using Force Grip. Lightning will come out of the disconnected end of the cable. Either use Force Grip to move the cable around and shock nearby enemies or use Force Grip to bring enemies to the cable and shock them that way. Even though they're only in a few spots, it's pretty easy to get 15 enemies shocked since there are plenty of Rebel troops around. The Hangar is a good spot for this as there are quite a few of those cables and enemy troops around.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/195/65.jpg "I'm Not Your Father, But..." (G)

Take Luke to school

You'll encounter Luke twice in the Hoth base and have three fights with him. The first time, use your Force Lightning a lot. Strike him with your lightsaber while he's stunned. Aerial attacks also work well against Luke. After you beat him, he'll take off running through the base. You'll meet him again in the Hangar. For this second fight with him, use the same strategy of Force Lightning to stun, then strike . This time though, he'll have Rebel troops around that will shoot at you while he's attacking. After you beat him again, Luke makes a comeback and you have to wear down his life again. Use the same Force Lightning to stun, then strike strategy. Luke is a little cheap this time and will use more Force powers.

Cheats and Workarounds

Main Game

OK. Rather than separate the various methods into separate scenarios, I’m going to do a single step-by-step walkthrough (in grueling detail) on how to get Sith Master, a fully upgraded character and a ton of force talent spheres. This way you’ll be all set for your single play-through Sith Master run.

  1. Start a new game on any difficulty.
  2. When the prologue starts, pause the game, go to the cheat menu and enter the code “SITHSPAWN”. This will unlock Sith Master difficulty.
  3. Exit the game.
  4. Start a new game on Sith Master difficulty.
  5. Play through the prologue.
  6. At the start of the TIE Factory level (i.e. the first level after the prologue), pause the game, go to the cheat menu and enter the following codes: “MOLDYCROW”, “KATARN” and “JOCASTA”. These will max out all the red, blue and yellow upgrades, respectively.
  7. Continue to play until you’ve found a yellow force upgrade holocron or until you level up. As you can see in the holocron collection video, you should level up just after you’ve collected the third holocron.
  8. Pause the game.
  9. Go to the force upgrade menu.
  10. Reset your force talent (yellow) upgrades.
  11. Go back to the main pause menu
  12. Go to the cheat menu and enter “JOCASTA”.
  13. Repeat steps 9 through 12 until you have 350 force talent spheres.
  14. Go to the cheat menu one more time and enter “JOCASTA”.
  15. Die.
  16. Exit game to the main menu.
  17. Continue game.
  18. Manually save.
  19. Quit to XMB. (Note: Jay-Slim has said that he was able to just exit the game and then continue, and everything worked out fine.)

Now, when you reload the game and continue, you’ll be playing on Sith Master, all the trophies will be available to you and you will have fully upgraded character. In case you're wondering, the reason you wanted all those force talent spheres is because whenever you reset your force talents, you replenish your health and force meters. So, if you ever run low on health, just pause the game, reset your force talents, manually put all your stats back to max and unpause the game. Your health will be full! Just remember to manually bring your stats back up; i.e. don’t use JOCASTA. Otherwise, you’ll have to through the elaborate ordeal of bypassing the trophy block. By the way, I wanted to make sure that I had enough force talent spheres so actually did the trick until I had 550. It didn't take much longer, but it was totally unnecessary. I used the health reset fairly liberally and I still only used 100. Either way, I think 350 is safe for even the worst of players.

EDIT: I have removed "LIGHTSABER" from the list of codes you should enter. Apparently, people are reporting issues of either the cheat not sticking or it not allowing them to save or some other such stuff. In the end, it's not really that essential to add this cheat if you've already got the other ones going for you. For those of you that already entered this cheat and are concerned that you may now be in some sort of predicament, just remember that if your trophies are popping, you're good to go.

Jedi Temple DLC

The following workaround will help you get all the trophies for this DLC as fast and easily as possible.

  1. Start any game in any mode and enter the "SITHSPAWN" cheat.
  2. Exit to the main menu.
  3. Start a new Jedi Temple campaign on Apprentice. (Remember we're trying to make this easy.)
  4. After the mission starts and the game auto-saves, bring up the XMB with :ps: and quit the game exiting to the XMB.
  5. Reload the game and select continue. Now the trophy block has been lifted and you'll have access to all the trophies. Visit the Jedi Temple Walk-Through to know exactly when you can get all of the trophies.
  6. Manually save the game during the third part of the battle sequence with the final boss. (This is the part where he hurtles large stone pillar pieces at you.)
  7. Right after you unlock the "Youngling" trophy for beating the DLC on Apprentice, bring up the XMB with :ps: and quit the game exiting to the XMB. Do NOT give the game a chance to auto-save.
  8. Reload the game and select continue.
  9. When the game loads, pause and change the difficulty to one of the other difficulties that you have not yet received the trophy for.
  10. Manually save the game.
  11. Bring up the XMB with :ps: and quit the game exiting to the XMB.
  12. Reload the game and select continue. You should be at the third and final part of the boss fight with the difficulty of your choice!
  13. Beat the game on this difficulty to unlock the associated trophy.
  14. Repeat steps 7-13 for your two remaining difficulty trophies.

It shouldn't. I followed my instructions to a tee and everything is working out fine for me.

Cool, honestly the only reason I ask is just that I played the game enough before the trophy patch and I'd prefer have one final play-through rather than two.

Exactly my situation. In fact, my GF reminded me of how I cursed the shoddy controls when I first got the game. Ah, the fond memories. *extreme sarcasm*

Cheers for the guide Cauchy, I'm playing this at the moment so i'll give some feedback along the way.

Thanks! Although you should also give credit to Illmatic for supplying the original guide. Also, feel free to create another one of your excellent images for this guide. You have my total confidence, so if you decide to create one, go ahead and insert the image.

Cauchy, I've seen the cheat explained many times, but when I used it I never exited out of the actual game to XMB, only to the title screen and it worked great. You may want to note that on your guide. (which is nice and properly formatted btw:D)
