Introduction

 

In Star Trek there are a total of 36 audio logs and 116 research items to collect. Overall they are not too difficult to find and are often on the main story path. Tribbles are the exception as some are quite well hidden. To find any collectable you need to equip your Tricorder by pressing :l2:. Once you have identified a collectable hold down :square: to scan it when in range. A tricorder upgrade, called Research Helper, can be bought for 2400XP in the upgrades menu. Buying this early on will be a massive help in your quest to find collectables, as it will automatically highlight any within about 12m of your position.

 

Please be aware of minor spoilers in the following descriptions.

 

 

Audio Logs

 

You will unlock these two trophies while searching for audio logs. Listening In for half of them and The Whole Story for all of them.

The following is a descriptive list of all audio log locations.

 

Helios-1

* You will find T'Mar's Audio Log #1 just after you have saved a trapped Vulcan. Go to the left upon entering the room the Vulcan is in and you'll find the log in the far corner.

* After the cutscene in the station command centre you will have to use a turbolift. Once you have exited it you will find Surak's Audio Log #1 on a unit to the left hand side of the corridor.

* After the cutscene where you rescue T'Mar you will find T'Mar's Audio Log #2 on a unit down the left corridor.

 

 

New Vulcan

Vulcan Laboratories Part 1

* After speaking to Surok exit the control room through the door with the objective marker on it. In the next room you'll see a dead Vulcan behind a console. T'Mar's Audio Log #3 is on the floor next to it.

* After being told that you should move past the infected Vulcans using stealth, stun the first Vulcan you come to and have Spock perform a mind meld. This will give you a passcode to a small storage room. Surok's Audio Log #2 is located inside this storage room.

 

Surok's Laboratories

* Right at the start of the chapter, when you have to search for another way in to the lab, you'll find Surok's Audio Log #3 behind the dead Vulcan at the control console.

* Once you have defeated the Brute Gorn you can find T'Mar's Audio Log #4 in the next room, on the floor.

 

Vulcan Laboratories Part 2

* Between the 2nd and 3rd research items on this level is a small conference room. T'Mar's Audio Log #5 is on the middle table.

* Once you have passed the water hazard, double back and go through the door off to the side. You will find Surok's Audio Log #4 under the console in this room.

* Have your AI or co-op partner boost you into the room with the power cell that needs to be used to pass the objective. T'Mar's Audio Log #6 is on the floor in here.

 

Vulcan Escape

* After Kirk's leg has been healed look to you right to find Surok's Audio Log #5 on a biobed.

 

 

Frontier Starbase

Arrival

* When asked to drop off your weapons before speaking to the Commadore, head into the room on the left. Surok's Audio Log #6 will be on the table in front of you.

* After meeting up with the security team you will be attacked by a squadron of Gorn. Once they're defeated, head towards the objective marker. Turn left just before you get there and you will find Daniels' Audio Log #1 on the second table.

 

Search for a Cure Part 2

* Daniel's Audio Log #2 can be found after fighting a large group of Gorn while you're escaping to the shuttlebay. There will be two rooms - one to your left and one to the right. You can enter the one on the right. Go all the way to the back to find the log in an alcove on the wall.

 

Evacuate

* Upon exiting the hatch into a battle you'll see Daniels' Audio Log #3 in a control area to the left, lying on a box.

 

Power Station

* At the back on the first room you come to (where you are asked to be stealthy) there is a door that can be pried open on the bottom floor. Head down this passage to find Daniel's Audio Log #4 at the end.

 

Relay Tower

* Once you have used the transport tool for the first time head forwards and to the right. Daniels' Audio Log #5 is located on a workbench next to a transporter pad.

 

To The Rescue

* Once you have landed back in the Starbase, Daniels' Audio Log #6 can be found floating at the back of the first room you come to.

 

 

Volatile Cargo

Part 1

* After crouching to pass two damaged pipes you will come to a room with the security team. Bones' Audio Log #1 will be next to a downed officer in the centre of the room.

 

Part 2

* From the start of the Crew Quarters turn right into a seating area. Bones' Audio Log #2 will be on a couch running along the wall.

* Head to the back of the Crew Quarters. There are two rooms along this wall - go into the one on the right. Uhura's Audio Log #2 will be on a desk in here.

* From the back of the Crew Quarters head down the stairs to a dead end. Uhura's Audio Log #3 is at the bottom, on the right hand side.

* On the top floor of the Crew Quarters are two rooms on the back wall. Head into the one on the left to find Uhura's Audio Log #1.

* After Kirk and Spock are split by a destroyed elevator you'll need to regroup and then head down a sloped section of the shafts. Bones' Audio Log #3 will be in an alcove next to a weapon replenishment station.

 

 

Gorn Planet

The Apple Part 2

* After you have completed the optional objective you'll drop down into a small room with a health station and ammo replenishment. Daniels' Audio Log #7 is on a box next to them.

 

The Apple Part 3

* In the second cell you will find Daniels crew Next to them on the floor is Crewmember's Audio Log.

* After searching both cells head through the door marked by the objective marker. Along the corridor, directly in front of you, is a door that can be hacked. Enter this room to find Daniel's Audio Log #8.

 

 

Enterprise Capture

Break In

* Chekov's Audio Log #1 is behind you once you have landed on the Enterprise.

* Chekov's Audio Log #2 is also right by where you land, on the floor just through the door.

* Sulu's Audio Log #1 is lying on the floor on your way to the turbolift. Just walk that way with your tricorder out and you can't miss it.

 

Taking Back The Ship

* At the start of this chapter you will come to a large room with a control station in the middle, several Gorn and a turret on either side. Scotty's Audio Log #1 will be at far end of the room, on the left hand side.

 

Taking Back The Ship Part 2

* At the start of this chapter unlock the first door and head onwards through the next one. Sulu's Audio Log #2 will be on a box at the top of the stairs.

* On the upper level of the Upper Warp Core there is a small observation room. Scotty's Audio Log #2 is just behind the right hand entrance.

 

Spread The Cure

* In the same room as where you scan the second piece of Federation Medical Tech you will find Chekov's Audio Log #3 on a desk, next to the room with Tribble #6 in.

* When restoring the power for Bones you can find Scotty's Audio Log #3 on the upper floor of the main room. Head up the stairs and then into the room on the right (you will not be able to enter this room until the power has been turned on).

 

Spread The Cure Part 2

* From the start of this chapter head down the corridor and head into the first room on the right. There will be an infected crewman in there and Sulu's Audio Log #3 will be on a unit on the far side of the room.

You will unlock these two trophies while searching for audio logs. Researcher for half of them and Fascinating for all of them.

The following is a list of all general research items. Most enemies and weapons are fairly common and you'll only have to scan them once for the research item to unlock, but there are a few that are chapter specific. Tribbles have been listed under the specific chapter of the game that you'll find them in.

 

Enemies

Federation Enemies:

1 - Infected Vulcan. Found on New Vulcan - Vulcan Planet. After defeating the infected Vulcan (the first enemy you come across) scan his body. There are also other Vulcan's that can be scanned later in this chapter.

2 - Federation Officer. First encountered on Frontier Starbase - Search for a Cure Part 1, and also during Volatile Cargo and Enterprise Capture.

 

Gorn Enemies:

1 - Gorn Initiate. First encountered in Surak's Laboratories. The most common of all Gorn enemies.

2 - Gorn Enforcer. First encountered in Frontier Starbase - Arrival. Pretty common throughout the game. They carry the Marauder and throw smoke grenades.

3 - Gorn Tech. First encountered in Frontier Starbase - Search for a Cure Part 2.

4 - Gorn Rusher. First encountered in Frontier Starbase - Evacuate.

5 - Gorn Observer. First encountered in Frontier Starbase - Power Station.

6 - Gorn Scout. First encountered in Gorn Planet - Where No Man Has Gone Before. Make sure you scan this enemy on this chapter as they are very rare afterwards.

7 - Gorn Warrior. First encountered in Gorn Planet - The Apple Part 1.

8 - Gorn Guardian. First encountered in Gorn Planet - The Apple Part 3. These enemies can be identified by a yellow shield they can project in front of themselves.

9 - Gorpion. First encountered in Gorn Planet - The Apple Part 1. This is the only chapter you will encounter Gorpions.

10 - Dog. First encountered in Gorn Planet - The Apple Part 1. This is the only chapter you will encounter Dogs.

 

Gorn Advanced Enemies:

1 - Gorn Brute. This enemy is first encountered in Surak's Laboratories. Scan the body after you have defeated this enemy.

2 - Gorn Sentinel. There is only one of these in the whole game. You'll fight it during Mothership - Sabotage.

 

Gorn Security:

1 - Gorn Turret. First encountered in Frontier Starbase - Search for a Cure Part 1. Fairly common in Frontier Starbase, Gorn Planet and Mothership.

2 - Attack Drone. First encountered in Frontier Starbase - Search for a Cure Part 1, and fairly common throughout.

3 - Exploding Drones. First encountered in Volatile Cargo Part 2, while you are passing through the turbolift tubes.

4 - Security Camera. First encountered in Gorn Planet - Where No Man Has Gone Before. Common during Gorn Planet and Mothership.

5 - Defense Drone. First encountered in Gorn Planet - Where No Man Has Gone Before. Common during Gorn Planet and Mothership.

 

 

Weapons

Federation Weapons:

1 - Vulcan Pulse Cannon. This weapon is common on New Vulcan and is often dropped by infected Vulcans.

2 - Stun Grenades. You can either find them in the Vulcan Laboratories or Frontier Starbase.

3 - Starfleet Phaser Rifle. You will first encounter this weapon just after you have started the Frontier Starbase chapter. It is common throughout this chapter, Volatile Cargo and Enterprise Capture.

4 - Captain's Phaser. This weapon can be scanned during Frontier Starbase - Arrival. When asked to leave your weapons before speaking to the Commodore you can scan after putting it down on the table.

5 - Vulcan Repeater. Exactly the same place as the Captain's Phaser.

6 - Engineer Transport Tool. At the start of Frontier Starbase - Relay Tower you will see this 'weapon' on the wall in front of you.

7 - Starfleet Type III Rifle. You start with this weapon in Gorn Planet - Where No Man Has Gone Before. Switch it with any Gorn weapon to scan.

 

Gorn Weapons:

1 - Gorn Ravager. You can scan this weapon after defeating the first Gorn Initiates you come across during the New Vulcan chapter.

2 - Plasma Grenade. You'll first encounter these while fighting a squadron of Gorn on Frontier Starbase - Arrival.

3 - Gorn Marauder. Found first in the same location as plasma grenades.

4 - Gorn Railer. First found during Frontier Starbase - Search for a Cure Part 2. It'll be dropped by several enemies while securing samples for Bones.

5 - Gorn Striker. Dropped by Gorn Scouts during Gorn Planet - Where No Man Has Gone Before. After defeating the first 6, make sure you scan the weapon dropped by the last enemy, as this weapon is rare.

6 - Gorn Pillager. As you approach the nest of Gorpions in Gorn Planet - The Apple Part 1, head down the left hand passage. You will find two Pillager's lying on the floor.

7 - Gorn Arc Driver. First encountered in Gorn Planet - The Apple Part 1, and fairly common in the next chapter.

 

 

Next are all chapter specific research items. They don't always appear in the order suggested in the in-game checklist, and so they should be in order of when you will find them here.

 

Helios-1

Helios Station:

* In the same room as the first audio log is the Vulcan Hypospray. It is just to the right of a large control station.

* Once you have reached the Command Centre and have spoken to the Vulcan Lieutenant, scan the holographic image in the centre of the room to discover the Helios Engineering Schematic.

* Tribble #1 - After exiting the turbolift, and before you head out for the space walk, you'll see a broken door at the end of the corridor. The Tribble is just through this door.

* After the cutscene where you rescue T'Mar, scan the Helios Control Cluster directly in front of you.

 

 

New Vulcan

Vulcan Planet

Flora & Fauna:

All three are found very soon after beaming down to New Vulcan. Turn around from the beam-in point to find Vulcan Desert Grass. Just a short way up the path and to the right is a Vulcan Cactus Cluster. Lastly, just before you reach the Vulcan Laboratories look up to the roof of the building. You can scan the Avian Scavenger here.

 

* Tribble #2 - Just before you activate the bridge and cross it look to your left. This Tribble will be sat on the ledge.

 

An Unknown Threat:

Once you have extended the bridge and crossed it you'll go through a door. Immediately in front of you will be a Vulcan Corpse, and on the wall next to it are some claw marks, which is Unknown Structural Damage. A little further down this corridor you will notice a pool of green blood on the floor. Scan it for Unknown Blood Sample.

 

Vulcan Laboratories Part 1

The Helios Device:

After the first cutscene with Surak, scan the console at the back of the room for #2. Once you have scanned #2, head down the right hand side of the room to find #1. The research item you need to scan will be the left hand one on a console in front of the large device in the middle of the room. A little further on, you will find #3 after vaulting over a low wall with some green blood on it, scan the console through the window directly ahead of you.

 

Vulcan Laboratories Part 2

Unknown Technology:

* At the start of this sub-chapter you can climb up some boxes and into a shortcut through the Jeffries Tube in the ceiling. Behind these boxes is the Unknown Breaching Tool.

* Head through the Jeffries Tube and take a right at the junction. You'll then drop down into a room with a few Gorn to defeat. The Unknown Assault Equipment will be in here - it is the small cylindrical object on the floor.

* The Unknown Hacking Tool is attached to the wall just before you have to pry a door open to the water hazard.

 

Vulcan Escape

Vulcan Remembrance:

* Once you have healed Kirk's leg, head back to the Great Hall. In front of you will be a large sculpture. Scan the centre of it to unlock the T'Par Memorial. Then head around to the other side of the sculpture and scan the plaque at the bottom of it to unlock the Sh'Tok Memorial.

Frontier Starbase

Arrival

Commanding the Station:

After stepping off the transporter pad head into the next room. The Atmospheric Calibration Unit will be behind the 'front desk'. After the cutscene with Commadore Daniels you can scan the Commadore's Chair (it will be right in front of you) and the Starbase Command Console opposite the chair.

 

Search for a Cure Part 1

Biolab equipment:

* Once you have hacked the first attack drone on this level you'll come to the labs. Head into the room on the right and you can enter a crawlspace in the ceiling. Head into the vent and go left. Once you drop down into the room at the end you will find the Epidermal Analyser.

* Before prying the door open to reach Bones, turn around and head into a room opposite. The Neurocortical Monitor will be on a console to the left in this room.

* After the cutscene with Bones head out into the main lab corridor and turn left. Pass the burning section of rubble and then go through a door on the right that was locked before reaching Bones. In here you'll find the Osteogenic Stimulator.

 

Search for a Cure Part 2

Biolab Flora:

Once you've obtained the first sample for Bones you'll need to head down to the bottom floor for the second. All 3 of the Biolab Flora are found by scanning consoles on this bottom floor.

* Tribble #3 - This Tribble is found on the walkways above the main biolab. There is a small station in the middle of these walkways. You have to climb on top of it in order to scan the Tribble.

 

Evacuate

Manifest:

* After defeating a pack of Gorn Rushers, head down the corridor in front of you, instead of down the hatch. The Survival Pack Requisition will be just in front of some boxes on the right hand side.

* Upon exiting the hatch into a battle, turn around and you'll see the Remote Comms Package Requisition on top of some boxes. You'll need to climb onto them to scan it.

* After jumping across the broken bridge the Compact Medkit Requisition will be directly in front of you, at the back on the room, on a box.

 

Power Station

* Once you are in the first room of this chapter, where the optional stealth objective starts, there is a Gorn standing in front of a console in the centre of the room. You'll need to scan this console to unlock Starbase Comms Relay.

* Head towards your next objective and you'll enter a control room with two Gorn in. Scan the console in the middle for Starbase Armoury Data.

* Once you have reached the control room where you have to follow 3 power cables running under the floor, scan the console to unlock the Starbase Power Unit.

 

To The Rescue

Gorn Attack:

* Once you have saved the Starbase crew enter the room on the left to find the first research item on the floor.

* The next one, which is #4 on the in-game list, is just after you have to climb through a damaged section of the Starbase. You'll see it in a corner to the right after defeating a few Gorn and a drone.

* The third one is at the back of the next room from #2, once again lying on the floor.

* The final piece, which is #2 on the in-game list, is after you drop down into a maintenance tunnel and fight a group of Gorn and drones. Instead of heading to the objective marker, turn around and head up the other maintenance tunnel (to the left of the one you came out of). The research item is at the end of this tunnel.

 

 

 

Volatile Cargo

Part 2

Federation Technology:

At the back of the Crew Quarters will be a room you can enter on the left hand side. In here you will find the Turbolift Repair Kit. The Quarantine Control Console is found on the upper level, directly above where you start from in this room.

* Tribble #4 - In the shuttlebay, just before you reach the boss fight, the Tribble will be on the floor between some forklifts and cargo boxes. It is roughly 40m from the objective marker.

 

 

Gorn Planet

Errand of Mercy

Lymax Culture:

All 4 are found very quickly at the start of the mission. There are several Grand Chest's either side of the path as you walk away from the downed shuttle. Next to the chest on the left, and also directly to the left of the shuttle, are Sentinel Statues. The Golem Statue is a very large statue to the left the path. lastly, further on down the path you will find a Companion Statue, about 60m from the objective marker.

 

Where No Man Has Gone Before

Lymax Species:

* Lymax #1 is located just after you have defeated the group of 6 Gorn Scouts at the start of the chapter. It is hidden in the grass on the left hand side of the path, just before you come to the broken bridge.

* Just before you go into the tunnel to remove the third power cell, Lymax #2 will be in a large cylindrical tank on the wall.

* While moving through the tunnels to remove the first power cell, you will come across Lymax #3 imprisoned in a cell.

 

The Apple Part 1

Gorn Flora:

After passing through the first underwater section you will have to squeeze through a very narrow passage in the caves. The Glowflower is on the right wall afterwards. Next, you'll see two Water Cabbage moments later as you go underwater again.

 

Native Geology:

* Once you've exited the second (longer) underwater section, run forward a little way and there will be several Stalactites running from the floor to ceiling in the middle of the path to scan.

* Later on in the chapter you will need to climb the walls and a pillar to progress, and then boost each other up and through a very narrow passage. A Crystal Formation can be scanned just after this passage.

 

The Apple Part 2

Instruments of Science?:

* After defeating the large group of Gorn you'll first encounter, item #3 is located to the right of the access hatch in the ceiling that you need to pass through for the optional objective.

* After obtaining #3 head back to the main entrance to the Gorn facility and head over the bridge opposite. Item #1 is located in this small area.

* Before going through the second teleport pad to the chamber with flaming vents, look to your left to find item #2 on a box.

* Tribble #5 - After you've disabled the 2nd flaming vent, head further down the chamber and past the third one. This Tribble will be lying on the floor around the corner.

 

The Apple Part 3

Instruments of Pain:

* The first instrument will be in the first cell you have to search, along with a group of natives.

* Instrument #2 can be found just before you hack the door to reach Commodore Daniels. Go into the room opposite the door to find this item on a pile of boxes.

Enterprise Capture

Break In

Gorn Technology:

As soon as you land on the Enterprise the first piece of tech will be directly in front of you. The second piece is in the next room on the third chair on the right. The third is on the floor to the right of the turbolift.

 

Taking Back The Ship Part 2

Warp Core Specs:

* Upon climbing up to the Upper Warp Core there will be a console you can scan just around the corner to your left.

* There is a small control console to scan on the upper section of the Upper Warp Core, in the middle of the room.

* As you head out onto the catwalks in the Upper Warp Core there is a small control console to the left that you can scan.

 

Warp Drive Specs:

* Just after you find Sulu's Audio Log #2, head down the stairs and scan the console at the bottom.

* After passing through the first vent you will come out onto a short catwalk. Here you can scan a section of the warp core directly above you.

* If you enter the Warp Core from the entrance with the objective marker, and head to the far left of the room you'll come across a cylindrical object running through the floor and ceiling, with a control panel in front of it. Scan this for the third item.

 

Spread The Cure

Federation Medical Tech:

* After exiting the main sickbay head down the corridor. At the end turn right into what looks like a dentists surgery. Sickbay Equipment is in the middle of the room.

* On your way to rescue Chekov, you will backtrack towards main sickbay and then have to pry open a door. Through this door will be a room to the right with the Sickbay Gurney in the centre.

* Tribble #6 - After finding Chekov's Audio Log #3 you will notice a small room to the left. This Tribble is in that room on top of a console.

 

 

Mothership

Punch a Hole

Advanced Metals:

Turn around from your point of entry to the mothership and you’ll see a large section of tubes - this is Gorn Metal #1. Then head down the room and scan one of the two large metal triangles on the left hand side for #2.

 

Gorn Species:

* After finding Gorn Experiment #2, head down the room and round to the left. Go through the first door on the right and you will immediately notice a console, which contains Gorn Species Research #1, on the left that can be scanned

* Tribble #7 - In the same room as Gorn Species Research #1, you'll find this Tribble sitting on the floor.

* From Species Research #1, go back out into the main room and look right. There is a console at the far end of the room which contains Gorn Species Research #2.

* After getting Species Research #2 go through the objective marked door, round the corner and through the next door on the right. In this room you’ll find a console that contains Gorn Species Research #3.

 

Gorn Experiments:

* Head down to the end of the room you start in and you’ll see a large cocoon-like object floating to the left. Scan this for Gorn Experiment #1.

* After going through the airlock you will come to a room with many Gorn, drones and security cameras. There are hatches on the right hand side of this room. Go down the second hatch and scan a torture table for Gorn Experiment #2.

* In the Biolabs you’ll have to pry open a door with your partner. After this you can scan Gorn Experiment #3 - you can see it through one of the windows along the left wall of the corridor.

* After Gorn Experiment #3 you’ll come out into a very large room, look to the right and you’ll see a large device on the wall, which is Gorn Experiment #4.

 

Sabotage

Gorn Advanced Technology:

Both of these are in the room where you have to fight past lots of Gorn and turrets to destroy the computer core, which is actually the first piece of advanced tech you'll come to. Make sure you scan it once you've teleported to the floor with the upper two consoles that need to be disabled. Once the core has been destroyed you'll be teleported back to the bottom level. Turn around to scan the second piece of advanced tech.
