The classic road/sea cruising spy saga returns on the PS Vita! Spy Hunter is a reboot of the legendary top-down arcade combat driving game and races forward on its most thrilling and dangerous ride yet. Once again, you’ll play as “Agent,” the driver of the high-tech G-6155 Interceptor supercar/super boat, armed with advanced weaponry, and ready to take on a global terrorist organization hell bent on world domination. Battle at top speeds with your vehicle in sports car mode, or switch over and take the fight to other terrain as a speed boat or high-powered off-roader.

PS Vita Controls:

:vitar: Throttle

:square: Fire roof weapon

:triangle: Fire front weapon

:circle: Fire side weapon

:cross: Fire rear weapon

:ls: Steering

Step 1: Complete the Campaign:

Play through all 23 missions in the campaign while finding as many black boxes and destroying as many enemy comms as you can. Don’t worry about finding all black boxes or destroying all enemy comms, because you will need to play through the missions again with a fully upgraded Interceptor to achieve Spy Hunter Pro rank (see Step 2) on all missions. You should, however, try to get Intel on all enemy vehicles. This step shouldn’t take too much time, as the missions are fairly short ranging from 3:00 to 6:00 minutes.

While playing through the campaign, make sure to buy upgrades for your Interceptor. You should be able to fully upgrade your four preferred weapons about halfway through the campaign. Once you have full upgrades and have obtained your shield, the game becomes incredibly easy. I suggest you upgrade your machine guns, shocker, flamethrower, and swarm missiles.

Also, once your 4 weapons are fully upgraded, don’t forget to buy a paint job. You can also focus on getting some of the miscellaneous mission based trophies as well, or save them for your subsequent missions runs.

During this step, you will unlock the following trophies:

  • (B)Lock and load
  • (B)Who is this guy?!
  • (B)Share the wealth
  • (S)Easy Rider
  • (S)Got your number
  • (B)Take your best shot
  • (G)Suited and booted
  • (S)Not so clever now!
  • (S)Float like a really heavy butterfly
  • (S)Sting like a metal bee
  • (B)Didn’t expect that to happen…
  • (B)King of the world
  • (B)I’m on a boat
  • (B)Looking sharp
  • (G)Not a scratch

Step 2: Replay the campaign, achieving Pro Hunter Rank on each mission:

Now it’s time to attempt to get Spy Hunter Pro rank on each mission. To get pro rank on a mission, you must meet the mission’s four (4) pro rank requirements. These requirements are damage taken, time, black boxes found, and enemy comms destroyed.

Obtaining pro rank is much easier than it sounds, because you do not have to hit all of the requirements during a single mission run. Once you hit a requirement and finish the level, it saves permanently. This means you can focus on certain requirements per individual mission run, i.e. you can focus on time and damage your first attempt and then clean up the black box and enemy comm your second time through the mission. Completing all missions with a rank of Spy Hunter Pro will net you (G)Consummate professional. For more information and tips for achieving pro rank, see the Consummate professional trophy description the trophy guide.

Step 3: Clean Up:

Use this step to obtain the time/weapon/mission specific trophies and to clean up any trophies you may have missed. These trophies include:

  • (B)Conscientious objector
  • (B)Fire starter
  • (G)Unmanned Aerial Venom
  • (S)Shocking
  • (S)Hard love
  • (G)Cold blooded
  • (G)What countdown
  • (G)Dolla dolla bills y’all

Read the respective trophy descriptions in the trophy guide if you need any more help or information about them.

Once all steps have been completed, congratulate yourself on your new shiny (P) Trophy.

(P)

Acquire all Trophies.

Congratulations, you obtained a reboot Platinum while listening to a classic gaming theme.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1754/C09.jpgConscientious objector (B)

Complete a mission without firing any weapons.

This is a very simple trophy to unlock. You don’t need to wait to obtain the shield to attempt this trophy. Simply play the tutorial and do not fire a weapon (do not press any face buttons). This trophy will unlock after the mission is over.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1754/919.jpgLock and load (B)

Fully upgrade a weapon.

To fully upgrade a weapon, go to the upgrades sub-menu in the campaign menu. Fully upgrading a weapon will cost you roughly 7,000 research points. I would suggest you max out your machine guns first. They will be your most used weapon for the 1st third of the game.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1754/0A3.jpgWho is this guy?! (B)

Destroy fifteen enemies in one mission.

This trophy is basically unmissible. You would have to go out of your way to not destroy 15 enemies in a mission. You will unlock this trophy while completing the game.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1754/E50.jpgShare the wealth (B)

During one mission, destroy four enemies, each with a different weapon.

This is another trophy that is essentially unmissible. If you don’t consciously unlock this trophy early in the game, then you will later in the game when you are swarmed by enemies coming from every angle. The basic requirement for this trophy is that you kill and enemy with a front weapon mapped to :triangle:, a side weapon mapped to :circle:, a rear weapon mapped to :cross:, and a roof weapon mapped to :square:, all in the same mission. All weapons kill except the Flash Blinder, which happens to be your default roof weapon. So as soon as you unlock the Swarm Missiles, swap out the Flash Blinders for the Swarm Missiles.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1754/12C.jpgEasy rider (B)

Travel 150km

*Story related, cannot be missed. This trophy will unlock before you hit the half way mark in the game.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1754/0F8.jpgTake your best shot (B)

Use the shield to avoid significant damage.

You will not have access to the shield until you reach the “Nuclear Fallout” level in the campaign. Once given the option, switch out your “Repulser” for the Shield. To use the shield, tap the shield icon in the top right corner of the Vita’s touch screen - the shield stays active for 6 seconds.

To unlock this trophy, you will need to avoid significant damage. Pretty much any vehicle can inflict significant damage on your Interceptor. You will inevitably unlock this trophy during the normal course of your campaign playthrough. You are going to need to use your shield as much as possible to beat the later levels, while doing so this trophy will pop without you even noticing what you blocked.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1754/579.jpgFire starter (B)

Destroy ten enemies with the flame thrower during a single mission.

You’re going to want to max out your flamethrower before attempting this trophy. This trophy is best attempted in “chase levels”, that is to say missions where you are being chased. For me the best mission for this trophy was “Screamers.” This mission has a ton of enemies attacking you from behind, obviously, and unfortunately that includes a lot of screamers.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1754/004.jpgGot your number (S)

Get Intel on all enemy vehicles.

To unlock this trophy, you will need to scan each of the 14 different enemies once. You scan enemies by pressing the scan button (eye icon on the bottom right side of the Vita’s touch screen) while an enemy is in your view.

There is no need to stress over this trophy, as you will constantly encounter the same 14 enemies over the 23 mission campaign. So just snap that “eye” icon whenever you encounter an enemy you don’t think you’ve seen before. The only exception is the Curser, which is only found in the “Anchorage” mission. It can be found at the end of the level while you are assaulting the air-craft carrier.

Equip four fully upgraded weapons in one load-out.

This is a nice change from the obligatory 'fully upgrade all weapons' trophies. For this trophy, all you need to do fully upgrade four (4) separate weapons, equip them and start a mission with them equipped. When I say separate weapons, it means the 4 separate weapons in your load-out, i.e. your front, side, rear, and roof weapons. It cost about 10-15 thousand points to fully upgrade a weapon. You’ll have enough points to upgrade four weapons at about the half way point in the campaign.

I would suggest you use and upgrade the below weapons during your campaign to make things easier on yourself. Proper use of these upgraded weapons will make even the game’s toughest moments laughable. Upgrade in this order:

  1. Machine Guns
  2. Flamethrower
  3. Swarm Missiles
  4. Shocker

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1754/0E5.jpgUnmanned Aerial Venom (G)

Destroy fifty enemies using the UAV in a single play-through of the mission "Eye in the Sky".

“Eye in the Sky” is the third to last mission in the campaign. It is a UAV only escort mission. To unlock this trophy, you will need to kill about 90% of the enemy vehicles/turrets that are attacking your weapons truck. You use touch screen controls to “tap” and kill any enemy surrounded by a red diamond. This trophy isn’t tough to unlock, because you don’t need to kill 100% of the enemies which would have been a feat, because if you are not fast enough, the screen will move past enemies.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1754/971.jpgNot so clever now! (S)

Foil the plan of the secretive ghost voice (complete all missions).

*Story related, cannot be missed.

To unlock this trophy, all you need to do is complete all 23 missions. It makes no difference whether or not you achieve Spy Hunter Pro ranks in any of the missions.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1754/5DD.jpgShocking (S)

Make it through a mission only using the shocker weapon.

This is another very simple trophy to unlock. The shocker is your default side weapon, activated by pressing :circle:. This trophy is easy to unlock during the early levels, but can be made even easier if you wait until you get your shield power to try for it. To unlock this trophy simply, replay the tutorial - or any other short mission - and only use the shocker. One relatively short and easy level to try for this trophy is “Deforestation.” This trophy will unlock after the mission is over.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1754/AF6.jpgFloat like a really heavy butterfly (S)

Travel 5 kilometres in the air.

*Story related, cannot be missed.

You will unlock this trophy by playing the campaign normally. Many of the missions have ramps and mandatory jumps.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1754/241.jpgWhere is this guy?! (S)

Spend two minutes invisible during a single mission using the cloaking device.

You will get the ability to cloak after finishing the “See No Evil” mission. The cloaking ability is an auxiliary power that is mapped to the top right corner of the Vita’s touch screen. You will need to swap out your shield for the cloak. To unlock this trophy, simply equip the cloak and use it for two minutes during a single mission.

You will need to attempt this trophy during a long mission. Shorter missions will end if you don’t finish them in time. I was easily able to unlock this trophy during the “Anchorage” mission. Just lag behind the action and repeatedly cloak yourself. This takes a while as the cloak only last 6 seconds at a time, and it has a 10 second recharge period.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1754/57E.jpgSting like a metal bee (S)

Destroy five enemies by luring them into stinger road surface traps.

This trophy is easily obtained during the mission “Nuclear Fallout.” In this mission, you will have no offensive weapons, so the most effective way to take down the Po Po is to use their own spike strips against them. With all the small roads and terrible driving by the "5-0", you will unlock this trophy without even trying while simply playing through the mission.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1754/3F8.jpgHard love (S)

Complete any mission using only the 50 cal cannon.

You won’t get access to this weapon until you finish the “Second Chance” mission. The 50 cal cannon is a “Roof Weapon”, which means you will need to map it to your :square: weapon. Once you have access to the “fiddy cal”, start up the tutorial and drive through the level only using the 50 cal. The trophy will unlock as you finish the level.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1754/9EC.jpgDidn't expect that to happen... (B)

Destroy twenty enemy boats.

A large number of missions have water routes and these routes are normally filled with enemy boats. To unlock this trophy, simply destroy 20 of these boats.

A large number of missions have water routes. You’ll unlock this trophy while completing the campaign.

Select a new paint job for your interceptor.

To unlock this trophy, go to the “paintwork” sub-menu in the campaign menu. Now choose one of the 18 paint jobs and buy it to unlock this trophy. I would suggest you first use your funds to fully upgrade your weapons before wasting points on a paint job. The cost of paint jobs range from 100 to 75,000 points.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1754/BBE.jpgConsummate professional (G)

Get Spy Hunter pro status on every mission.

This is Spy Hunter’s signature trophy. To unlock this trophy, you will need to hit all requirements in all of the campaign’s 23 missions. These requirements are:

  • Damage – You have a total of 6 power cores, pro status requires you to finish any given mission with a set number of power cores left. Note: If you die and the mission has a checkpoint and you choose to continue, then you will respawn with full health. Use this to your advantage.

  • Time – Just as it seems, to achieve pro status you will need to finish a mission below a certain time frame. Note that you can hit the exact time limit and still reach pro status, i.e. if the limit is 4:00 minutes and you finish in exactly 4:00 minutes, you will get pro credit. Note: If you die or restart in a mission that has a checkpoint and you choose to continue, then the time will revert back to when the checkpoint was hit. Use this to your advantage and die on purpose or choose restart to redo sections where you feel you could have gone faster.

  • Black Box – Black Boxes are randomly dropped boxes from destroyed vehicles that you must scan to achieve pro status. Each mission (except Eye in the sky & Nuclear Fallout) has a black box in it. As I mentioned, the boxes appear randomly throughout the levels. The boxes only appear after defeating an enemy. While near a Black Box you must hit the scan button (the "eye" icon on the lower right hand corner of the Vita’s touch screen) to analyze the box and receive credit for it. Note: If you die after scanning a box, then that box does not count anymore, you will need to find and scan another box during that mission.

  • Enemy Comms – Enemy communication vehicles appear in each level and must be destroyed to achieve pro status. Enemy comms are grey vans with a satellite on top of them. All enemy comms appear in the exact same area and at the exact same time during missions, they are not random like black boxes. Enemy comms are fairly strong, thus they are tough to destroy without maxed out weapons.

The good news about this trophy is that not all requirements need to be met during a single mission run. This means the 1st time you play a mission, you can focus on hitting time and/or damage requirements, and then play through the mission again, only focusing on finding black boxes or enemy comm vehicles. Once you finish a mission and receive a bonus for meeting a pro status requirement, that pro status saves permanently for that mission. As you can see in the below picture, I achieved pro rank without hitting all the requirements during that single mission run.

Wz2iF3d.jpg

Below is a photo of what a black box looks like. Black boxes are always highlighted by a green diamond:

WtB27Xf.jpg

Because not all requirements are needed in a single mission run, a vast majority of the missions a very easy to achieve Spy Hunter Pro status in. A few missions may require you to play them multiple times before you figure out the best way to attack them, but those shouldn’t take more than a few attempts. In my opinion, only two missions are borderline frustrating; Screamers and Along for the ride.

Tips for achieving Spy Hunter Pro Status:

  • Wait until you have fully maxed out your 4 primary weapons and obtained the shield to attempt pro mission runs.

  • Try to only focus on obtaining two pro statuses per mission runs. Gaining all four will be challenging, as going for black boxes and enemy comms will force you to slow down and possibly take damage.

  • While searching for black boxes, always look behind you by pressing . Sometimes the vehicle you've killed with a rear attack or the vehicle you destroyed and quickly drove past had the black box.

  • Use the Missile Swarm roof attack on enemy comm Vehicles. As stated above, these vehicles have some tough armor and during some missions, your window to destroy them are very small. The Swarm Missiles destroy the enemy comms in 1-2 hits.

You can check the status of which requirements you've met in each mission by clicking on the yellow 'I' (information) icon on the left side of the mission select screen. *Special thanks to Ertemis for providing this information.

Here is a full list of all of the missions you will need to achieve Spy Hunter Pro status in:

  1. Deforestation
  2. Rogue
  3. Gun shy
  4. Second chance
  5. Tutorial
  6. See no evil
  7. Data protection
  8. Eye in the sky
  9. Storm chaser
  10. Bait
  11. Into the dragon’s den
  12. Interception
  13. Sewer rat
  14. Executive elimination
  15. Carnage
  16. Easy does it
  17. Fight or flight
  18. Nuclear fallout
  19. Anchorage
  20. Screamers
  21. Search & destroy
  22. Unfriendly fire
  23. Along for the ride

Destroy the entire convoy in the mission "Rogue" in under sixty seconds.

This trophy will seem impossible to get the first time you play the Rogue Mission. That is because it will be impossible your first time through. You will need to fully max out at least two (2) of your weapons to accomplish this task.

The convoy is the 1st set of vehicles and Semi-Truck you encounter. I was able to destroy all of these vehicles in about 50 seconds using only my maxed out “Swarm Missiles” roof weapon. With Swarm Missiles maxed out, you will have 16 sets of missiles to fire into the convoy. To unlock this trophy, simply double boost by pressing :vitar: to keep up with the pack and spam the :square: button until you have fired about 11-14 missiles into the convoy and destroyed the lot of them. If you failed to destroy the Semi in fewer than 60 seconds, just pause the game and restart the mission.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1754/03F.jpgNot a scratch (G)

Complete a whole mission without suffering the loss of a single reactor core.

This trophy is much easier to unlock than it sounds. You don’t have to go play an entire mission without losing a core; all you have to do is finish the mission with all six cores intact. You should unlock this trophy without even trying during the 3rd mission Sewer Rat.

At the end of Sewer Rat, you will enter the “Weapons Truck” to deploy a UAV. Entering the truck completely refills your power cores. After you finish up with the UAV, all you have to do now to unlock the trophy is follow the road to the end of the level without getting hurt. This will be easy, as there are no more enemies to deal with because your UAV will have taken them all out.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1754/CBB.jpgWhat countdown? (G)

In the mission "Nuclear Fallout" defuse all bombs in under forty seconds.

To unlock this trophy, you will need to disarm four (4) bombs in less than 40 seconds. I thought this was an impossible accomplishment at first. But after many attempts, I realized that the counter doesn’t start as soon as the mission starts as the set up and trophy description suggest. Although I’m not exactly sure as to when the timer begins, I can safely say it doesn’t start at the beginning of the level. Follow the below instructions to efficiently obtain this trophy.

  • The first thing you need to do to unlock this trophy is to double tap :vitar: to boost immediately at the beginning of the mission.

  • Drive to the first bomb on the right, watch the cutscene and go through the motions, you should leave this bomb with no more than 15 seconds on the clock.

  • Once you go through the motions and regain control of your Interceptor, boost to the left towards the next bomb. Start to brake early so you stop directly in the center of the highlighted circle.

  • Now boost straight ahead and to the left for the next bomb. Like with the last bomb, brake early so as to stop in the circle. You want to be finished with this bomb at about the 40 second mark.

  • Finally, boost out of there and follow the right path to the final bomb. Stop in the circle to defuse it. If you did all of this within 40 seconds, then you will have a new gold trophy. If not, then restart mission and try again. Note: I obtained this trophy by disarming this final bomb at the 54 second mark.

Earn over 150,000 Research Points.

You will earn this trophy at about the same time as (G)Consummate professional. You earn research points by gaining Spy Hunter Pro bonuses (one time only) and performing skill-shots. You don’t need 150K points in the bank to unlock this trophy, you just need to earn that total amount of points, so you are free to spend the points as you wish. If you somehow obtained all other trophies but haven’t unlocked this trophy, then you can grind skill-shots until you reach the 150,000 mark.

Actions that gain research points:

  • Mission end damage bonus (available once per mission)
  • Mission end time bonus (available once per mission)
  • Black Box bonus (available once per mission)
  • Enemy Comms bonus (available once per mission)
  • Spy Hunter Pro bonus (available once per mission)
  • Double Elimination (Skill-Shot)
  • Triple Elimination (Skill-Shot)
  • Accuracy Awards (Skill-Shot)
  • Quick-Swap Initiative (Skill-Shot)
  • Quick-Swap Combo (Skill-Shot)
  • Air Superiority (Skill-Shot)

The only bad news about this trophy is there is no way to tell if you have completed a mission with pro rank without replaying the level again. So I suggest you keep track with some notes or play through the missions again in order, only moving on when you have pro ranked a mission.

When you are viewing the mission selection screen, there is an information icon on the left side that shows you what you have already completed for each mission.

Great guide. For the trophy "What countdown?", I am not sure what time they are counting from. I completed it at the 53 second mark and no trophy. I am wondering if they start the timer once the tutorial portion is done (13 seconds when I did it). That puts my 53 seconds at a 40 second run. Will try again later to knock 1 second off and see if it unlocks.

Ok, managed to finish it in 52 seconds and the trophy unlocked. I am guessing this means that the timer starts as soon as the tutorial on how to disarm the nukes is completed.

Also, the shield is unlocked on the mission "fight or flight", not "deforestation".

fffffff I think I may have glitched my game.

I had 2 trophies left for the plat trophy - dolla dolla bills & consummate pro.

I only had one level to get spy hunter pro on, screamers.

I had to play this level 10+ times, each time getting more credits.

Then finally I beat the level with pro rating and dolla dolla bills popped, but not consummate pro...

So now I checked everything three times and I do have spyhunter pro rating on all levels but no trophy..... :2walls:

I do not want to play the again over againn damn screamers level.

So the moral is don't ever achieve the scenario where both these trophies are supposed to unlock after you clear one mission

*EDIT* whew, I was able to get the plat by quitting the game, restarting the game and playing the screamers level again.

I am on my way to getting my first platinum trophy thanks to your guide! I was worried about if I had to do all the requirements at the same time for the trophy. phew

Your welcome and :welcome: to the site.

Any tips for grinding for credits?

I've got 95.000 at the moment and already got all the other trophies..

Edit: Nevermind, got it after a few rounds of 'Screamers'.

Yeah I was just going to suggest that mission.

You will not have access to the shield until you reach the “Fight or Flight” level in the campaign.

Can I get confirmation that this is the correct level? Ive played through it three times while trying to get Spyhunter Pro ranking and I still dont have a sheild. I finished the game without it and only skipped some of the missions that branch off the main path.

The only ones I haven't played yet are Nuclear Fallout, See No Evil and Storm Chaser. Could it be one of those instead?

EDIT: Nuclear Fallout is the level where you get the sheild. As soon as I started the level I got a notice that I had a new device and the sheild was availible on the loadout screen.

Thanks for the update. Also did you get the trophy for finishing the game (Not so clever now! (S)) by skipping the branched off missions? I'm sure they were needed for that trophy and the Pro trophy.

I did unlock Not so clever now! after beating the last main mission Into The Dragon's Den. I had skipped Nuclear Fallout, See No Evil and Storm Chaser.

I can't confirm if the Spyhunter Pro trophy will unlock by just doing the main missions, though. I may try to get it by skipping See No Evil and Storm Chaser, but I might not get to it for a few days.

EDIT: I also wanted to mention that the game is pretty liberal with what it considers "significant damage". I got Take your best shot by having the shield up when a cop car bumped into me during Nuclear Fallout.
