Roadmap:

Splinter Cell HD, being the first of 3 games in the trilogy, is a stealth action classic from the Playstation 2 days. This game requires good stealth, and it’s a welcome change to the run and gun play of modern titles. If you're looking for an easy plat, then this isn’t it, but if you’re looking for fun and to relive old memories then I highly recommend picking this up. You have to complete the game twice, because difficulty trophies DO NOT stack, however, I recommend two playthroughs anyway to make things easier on yourself.

WARNING: I’d highly advise you backup your save often as many people have had save game corruption when the game freezes. I haven’t had this problem, but I know several have.

Saving is important in this game so I'll give a quick overview. Save often utilizing Quick Save and the normal Save option. I used Quick Save mainly and Saved before hard sections when I planned to back up my save to USB Stick. Avoid using Quick Load as it can prevent some trophies from unlocking, instead, use the Load function as this doesn't keep the game running in the background. Save to USB often when going for Urban Legend and if you die simply delete your game save and copy across from the USB Stick.

Step 1: Hard Playthrough

I’d recommend playing the game on hard first, and do your best to go for Stealth Operative, Passive Aggression and Immune on this playthrough. It’ll be tough, but you really should get these trophies out of the way and only Passive Aggression will be tricky. See the trophy descriptions for more information.

Step 2: Normal Playthrough

After your first Hard playthrough, you should start a Normal playthrough, and you should go for Urban Legend this run. Check for tips in the trophy description as this is, by far, the hardest trophy to obtain.

Step 3: Clean-up

Some grinding for several trophies will still be required upon completing 2 playthroughs of the game but you can use Level Select to make your life easier by going into Load Game. Choose Levels here rather than from your saved game. See the trophy descriptions for which levels are best to replay.

I wish you all good luck and now onto the guide. Here's a video I found very useful throughout my journey to the platinum. It will help with achieving Stealth Operative, Echelon Mercenary and Immune. This is a great run through with no alarms and no damage which will help you plan your way through the trickier action segments in the game.

Trophy Guide

Unlock all trophies

Unlock all other trophies in Splinter Cell HD and this platinum trophy will be your reward. A well earned platinum.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/863/02.jpg Stealth Operative (G)

Complete all missions without raising alarm even once.

This trophy requires you to go through the entire game without ever sounding an alarm. Levels that are focused on Assault rather than Stealth do not have an alarm to worry about. These include the Oil Rig and Kalinatek missions. Being spotted by an enemy and having the music change is not an alarm. It’s when you hear an alarm sound and it’ll come up with a warning that you’ve had 1 of 3 alarms allowed for that level. Some only have 1 allowed. So if you get that warning, or you hear an alarm, it means this trophy has been disabled.

You can reload your save however, and the alarm will not have sounded and you can still unlock the trophy. So just stay aware, and if you hear an alarm, then reload your last save. Remember, you can make a save whenever you want so make use of this. On levels with alarms, always make sure you hide bodies well in the shadows. Shoot out lights and turn off light switches when you can as in this game darkness is your key to survival and also your enemy’s weakness. If a body is in shadows, it wont be found and an alarm will not go off.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/863/03.jpg Passive Aggression (G)

Complete the game without having more than 3 fatal casualties per level

This is a tough trophy, to say the least. It means you can’t kill more than 3 enemies each level. You can knock enemies out and use items like the Sticky Shooter, but don’t kill enemies. I wouldn’t use turrets to get kills for you.

The level that will cause the most trouble with this is Abattoir when protecting the hostages, but it is easily manageable without using the turrets. Just save your Sticky Shooters and other non-lethal weaponry to the end of the level. The same can be said for the Kalinatek mission. In the end there are 2 staged battles that will bring you out of stealth no matter what. In the first area with the forklift truck, you can do a double jump if you take a right as soon as you get in the area, up to the second floor, and you don’t have to kill any of those 3. In the next room use your non-lethal weapons, or you can rush to the left and get into the secondary room by climbing up boxes (this method is not easy.)

Only living things count in this. You can only kill up to three humans and dogs in each level. Destroying cameras and deactivating turrets is fine. Also, getting a headshot with a Sticky Camera knocks guards unconscious without killing them (Thanks Dape for this.)

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/863/04.jpg Echelon Mercenary (G)

Complete the game on Hard difficulty

You get this trophy by completing the game on Hard difficulty which is chosen at the start of a New Game. You have to do both Hard and Normal difficulty runs as difficulty trophies don’t stack. Some tips for this are as follows:

  1. Always try to avoid confrontation by sticking to shadows. Learn who you should take out, and who you can just sneak past and carry on with the level. Shadows are the key to succeeding in this game.

  2. Save frequently. You can save whenever you want in this game and reload whenever you wish so make use of this. There is no reason to go back 20 or 30 minutes of playtime just because you forgot to save.

  3. Use all your non-lethal ammo in a level efficiently. It’s crucial you save this ammo for tough battles to make your life easier.

  4. Take your time and think through your moves. Analyze a guard’s movement pattern and learn to get them to an area you wish by throwing objects or shooting randomly from shadows. This game isn’t about running through; it’s about slow, calculated gameplay.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/863/05.jpg Immune (G)

Complete the game without using a single medikit.

Attempt this trophy on the playthrough you do not go for Urban Legend. If you let go of the button over a medikit you will automatically use one so be careful and play it safe. Don’t even pick them up. The only way you can fail this trophy is by being silly and accidentally selecting it. When selecting frag grenades, watch yourself. Remember to save often, and reload a save if you feel you're going to take damage after being spotted. This way you'll find no need to use a medikit.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/863/06.jpg Echelon Recruit (S)

Complete the game in Normal difficulty

You will not unlock this after finishing Hard Mode. You need a second playthrough. I’d do this second, as you’ll have a much easier time and it’ll be less stressful.

Complete the Police Station Mission

Story related - can not be missed. Simply finish the level, Police Station, which is the first proper level upon completing the Training mission on any difficulty.

Complete the game without dying more than 5 times

This is the hardest trophy in the game. All I can say is the second you’ve been spotted by the enemy and the music changes to emphasize this, pause and do Load Game. DON’T do Quick Load as it’s possible you’ll still get killed while it is performing the Quick Load. If you see yourself missing a jump, pause and do Load Game. It’s all about saving often and having the reflexes to pause and load before you die. I managed it thankfully without too much stress in my Normal playthrough when I was going for it because I took it slow and didn’t worry. If you die for any reason, reloading your save will not reverse the death.

A tip from me is that you can backup your save game anytime to a USB stick. Mid-level, end of level, or whenever you wish and if you die then simply delete your save game and copy across your save from the USB. This will erase the information that you died.

Many have claimed this trophy is glitched and for others, it has unlocked normally. To prevent these glitches, follow these rules found from felixfb:

  1. Start a new game (do not delete saves or install the game again.)
  2. Always use normal saving and reloading (No quick saves.)
  3. Never quit to the XMB via the PS Button IN GAME EVER! After each mission is done and it auto saves on the new mission, "quit to main menu" and then, and ONLY then, quit to the XMB to back up save.
  4. When you're about to die, hit pause and reload save (NOT QUICK RELOAD!)
  5. Remember this game saves in the background
  6. Mission Fails Don't Count
  7. Never resume game. Always load last save.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/863/17.jpg Field Agent (B)

Pick lock on 25 doors

During both of your playthroughs, you’ll end up with about 20 of these towards your total so you will have to replay a level or two. My recommendation is the CIA Headquarters level as it’s a fairly easy level to do. It has 5 locked doors in total if you search around and also has a number of other trophies you can achieve while working towards this one. To pick a lock, simply use your lock picker (Not Disposable ones as these don’t count,) and turn the left thumb stick until the key paddle starts to shake. Hold it there and you’ll move on to the next paddle.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/863/18.jpg Cyber Warfare (B)

Collect data sticks from 47 computer terminals

Again, I found the CIA Headquarters best for this. Just select use the computer whenever you find one. There are over 10 in this level if you search around. Any monitor with a viewable image on the display can be used and most have data sticks for you to find.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/863/19.jpg Adrenaline Rush (B)

Put down 10 enemies once they notice you, before they raise the alarm

This is again best done on CIA Headquarters while clearing up many of the other trophies. Many of the “enemies” working are simply Maintenance staff and will not attack you, but they will run for that alarm at the first sign of danger. From the first guy upon entering through the fan vent to a room near the end when you’re carrying the diplomat, scare them, and if you see them running towards an alarm then run after them and press :r1: to clock them round the head before they raise the alarm. It can be annoying, but 10 isn’t really a huge number.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/863/20.jpg Pinpoint Specialist (B)

Get 25 headshots

Whereas most games this’d be easy to achieve, it’ll only pop in your second playthrough when not going for the Passive Aggression trophy. You can get headshots with your pistol, but I’d use the sniper scope on your assault rifle by pressing :r2: and then :r3: to zoom in. On your normal playthrough you’ll want to take out many enemies with headshots. If not, grind the kills on any of the late levels where you are allowed to kill enemies. Kalinatek is a great mission for this, or Abattoir.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/863/21.jpg Fatal Embrace (B)

Perform 100 captures

Press :cross: when behind an enemy to grab an enemy at gunpoint to manipulate information out of them or to dispose of them in the shadows by pressing :cross:. You won’t have 100 by the end of 2 playthroughs but again, just grind it in CIA Headquarters, along with the other trophies you need. There are a lot of enemies and a lot of maintenance staff that are easy to grab with :cross: You’ll get about 15-20 of these every replay of CIA Headquarters so you won’t need too many repeats after 2 full playthroughs.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/863/22.jpg

Surgical Strike (B)

Take out 13 opponents by jumping from above them

This can be a tricky trophy to unlock. Again, I believe CIA Headquarters is the easiest to achieve this as I managed 6 or 7 in one playthrough. Basically there are several areas when playing through that’ll give you an opportunity to do this.

In the Abattoir level you’ll come into a room over looking a bathroom area. Jump on the barrels and jump and grab onto an overhead beam. Now take that beam down to the very end and an enemy will be directly underneath so press :triangle: and drop on him.

At the start of the CIA Headquarters mission; when you exit the fan vent there’ll be one maintenance guy. Get on the fence and go over to the other side and wait for him to return from the hall, which he will eventually do, then simply press :triangle: to drop on him.

At the beginning of Chinese Embassy, in the dark alley, make a little noise and stay by the fence on the upper portion and drop on the enemy. Then go further down the alley and do a double jump off the police car onto the overhang. When the guard returns to his place, drop from here onto him.

These are 4 easy ones which you can do on both playthroughs equaling 8. You’ll then need to grind the other 5.

The best level is CIA Headquarters. In addition to the guard I already mentioned, in the room after typing in the code 110598 there are 2 maintenance staff. Get to where the first is by sneaking and then do a legs split in gap jump by pressing :triangle: and then :triangle: again which you hold to position yourself high up between the shelves. Drop down and knock him out and the other maintenance guy will raise the alarm bringing a guard to check out on things. Get in the same position as before and wait for him to come under you and press :triangle: to drop on him (These two were discovered by SaberBlade.) Then you can just go near the other maintenance guy and jump off the wall and press :triangle: again in his direction to land on him.

Finally, in this level, when you come out onto a balcony overlooking the server room there’ll be a maintenance guy at work so press :triangle: to get onto the balcony rail. Press :triangle: to jump on the rail to cause some noise so he stands up. He’ll move backwards a little and then drop and knock this guy over.

There are others to get, but hopefully you can follow these tips to get more in other locales.

Kill 11 enemies with grenades

This will be another trophy you’ll probably need to grind but there is an easy method found thanks to Scopin-Steve and SaberBlade. In the Abattoir level you’ll eventually be in an area with a wooden floor and you’ll come to a hole in the roof with 3 guards talking. Use a D-Camera in between them and press :l1: to fire it and :l1: to set off gas to knock them out. Drop down and shoot out the lights in the corridor except for the one you can’t and then pile the bodies up with no more than 3 in a pile or one will disappear. Then capture and return all enemies within the frozen meats section to this corridor unconscious but still alive. I brought 9 back to here from the next several rooms and threw a grenade in the middle of them and got 9 kills instantly. I then went to the final freezer room and knocked out the 3 guys in here and then grouped them together again and threw another grenade in to them netting me the final 2 required kills.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/863/24.jpg Nightlife (B)

Destroy 25 light sources

This will come throughout your 2 playthroughs. In stealth levels you should be shooting out most of the lights in rooms anyway, so just make sure you destroy lights in offices and hallways and you’ll soon unlock this trophy. You will not need to grind this at the end as there are plenty in the game. Some are indestructible, but most you can knock out with a bullet from your gun.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/863/25.jpg Privacy Matters (B)

Disable 25 unguarded cameras

This is another trophy you’ll probably need to grind at the end and the best level to do this is on Defense Ministry as there are 8 or 9 cameras throughout the level. Two repeats of this level are all it will probably take. Just shoot a bullet into a camera so it stops moving and this counts. The ones with a casing you can’t destroy. To disable it you will need to completely destroy it. You can’t disable a camera without shooting it.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/863/26.jpg Friendly Chats (B)

Interrogate 5 victims

In the game there’ll be certain people who you need to capture by pressing :cross: and then exhaust the interrogate command until it either disappears or it’s clear they have no new voice commands. I needed to grind this for some reason and I did it in the Defense Ministry Level by interrogating the car driver in the parking lot. This is a good level to do it as you need to do the Privacy Matters trophy alongside this one anyway. Thanks to SaberBlade for the location.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/863/27.jpg Collector (B)

Disarm 15 wallmines

The best level for this is the Kalinatek level but there are other spots in other levels where you can disarm them. To disarm a wallmine simply crawl up to it slowly to the side of it until a disarm option appears. When the light on the mine flashes green press :cross: to disarm. If you press it on red get out of there as it’ll explode. If you are eager to unlock this trophy, after you have some wallmines in your inventory simply one, two or three of them on a wall and just deactivate them when they activate and repeat. I tested this to see if it worked and it does.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/863/28.jpg inhuman menace (B)

Disable 10 turret sentry guns

You’ll get this within the 2 playthroughs if you disable all the turret guns you find. The first is in CIA Headquarters. Simply go up to the rectangular box by the side of it and select the disable option and then exit. You’ll know it has worked when the turret stops rotating and stops trying to kill you. There are plenty in the Abattoir level if you need to grind this at the end of the game.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/863/29.jpg Quick-draw (B)

Complete Kalinatek mission using only 5.7mm Pistol

Simply don’t use your assault rifle in this mission. It can be tricky with ammo but towards the end you’ll find numerous ammo just before and throughout the staged attacks on you. Obviously you can still knock out enemies and capture them without the need to use a weapon and still get this trophy but only use the 5.7mm Pistol when you do decide to use a weapon. You can also use grenades and wallmines (Thanks to Pr0Bunny

for the grenades and wallmines addition)

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/863/30.jpg Charged Up (B)

Take out 10 guards using the sticky shooter

The sticky shockers are used with your SC-20k rifle and there are up to 7 in the CIA Headquarters level to collect. Just select them in your inventory and to fire them at a guard just aim with :r2: and press :l1: to fire. If you need to grind them out at the end of the game just replay CIA Headquarters and you’ll get the trophy in 1 or 2 runs.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/863/31.jpg ‘Knock, knock’ (B)

Peek under 10 doors

Simple. Just use your camera to look under doors from the inventory below lock picks and press :r1: on the door. This’ll show a view of behind the door to you and get you 1 closer to this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/863/32.jpg ‘Over Here!’ (B)

Capture 10 guards investigating the disturbance

Another one you’ll probably get without needing to grind. When the music changes and the guard comes searching to see what the sound was, simply get in the shadows and sneak up to them and press :cross: to capture them. To cause a disturbance, you can either throw an object you find, turn a light switch off in a room with guards, or fire a bullet from the shadows and they’ll soon come searching.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/863/33.jpg ‘Passing Through’ (B)

Complete Training course without getting failed

Simply get through the training course without failing by being spotted by a guard, camera, or more than likely, failing in the Mic’d up room. In the mic’d up room crouch using :circle: and take it very slowly. Walk slowly off the edge and then towards the next level. When touching the next level press :triangle: with no directions being touched. Then use :circle: if you’ve stood up and use the same method to get to the next height. Then go slowly between the chains and over the glass by barely tilting :ls: and you’ll make it through. The training is fairly short so it shouldn’t be much of an issue.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/863/34.jpg Peace Stalker (B)

Complete Police Station mission without firing a bullet.

This involves completing the first level after the training without firing a weapon. In one section, your teammate will tell you to shoot out a skylight to get rid of smoke. Ignore this order and simply walk to the right side of the room out of the door. Remember to sneak, and use your stealth and capturing skills often. In the bit with a vine wall type area with a guard waiting at the end, simply double jump to get on top of this and run and jump at the end. Get to the back of the area onto the box and you’ll be over the wall into the next area before they realize what’s going on.

Complete Training Course

Story related - can not be missed. Complete the unskippable training course at the start of the game and this trophy shall be your reward.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/863/36.jpg Non-existent target (B)

Complete Oil Refinery mission without losing health

This is a level where most of the action isn’t involving you. Just use stealth and save often and when you get hit simply reload your save game. It is the shortest level of them all so you don’t have to go skipping bullets for long.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/863/37.jpg Data hacker (B)

Collect 50 data sticks

This will come in route to the collecting 47 data sticks from computers trophy. You get data sticks from computers and also from guard’s satchels that they occasionally drop when you kill or knock them out. So keep checking bodies for satchels and keep checking computer terminals for them. You’ll want to grind this in CIA Headquarters again as you will probably be a little off this total after 2 full playthroughs of the game.

Hay there,

You've obviously looked at the roadmap guide but I think you should check out the guide guide here:

im tired of urband legend try for twice, my death just once on every playthrough but still didnt come out thats trphy

Delete the game and download it again. If you've got a back up no deaths save, copy it to PS3 after you've downloaded the game and try then.

As for the guide, I see a lot of my suggestions here but you wrongly credited steve for the grenade kills. It was his idea to hide the bodies in one spot to make sure you don't get an alert, it was my idea to use them for the trophy.

Cheers for clearing that up. Yeah that suggestion I took from the other thread. Everything else I wrote from what I found going through so if they happen to be the same then it's just coincidence. I'll add your credit to Friendly Chats also as I remember you helping me in that thread and another for a part of my surgical strikes description that I extended a part of your description but I also added my own that I found :) I've added 3 credits to you in the guide.

Thats a good idea for those grenade kills, but it wasnt mine indeed.

I put the bodies there for the no-alerts.

As for Urban Legend i can confirm it's glitched badly, i have a save where i died twice and didnt fail any mission and didnt alert once, after reading about the delete game and reinstall i just did that and still no trophy.

I went through the game 7times the trophy won't pop. I went for urban legend 5times and kept notes upon my runs. The 2 deaths were made in the last level.

I manual saved and loaded, i kept playing the same file, untill the last level i died twice then i reloaded a usb save i made. I didnt died after that, not into gunfights either, didnt fail any objectives.

So for this run i used 1time the usb save, i made 3backups and used the last one.

backups where made on mission 4,7 and 9.

i dont use quicksave or quickload , just save file 0 and load game.

But the thing is i didnt needed that , after all playtrhoughs the situations arent troubling like holding the mic wrong, failing gunfights. i must have a cursed console or something "/

I had no issues unlocking any of the trophies. They all unlocked when I expected them to including Urban Legend. As long as you know reloading a save from before the death will still not erase that death and that if you back up your save game to USB often and then if you die replace it then there is absolutely no reason why the trophy wouldn't unlock. I'll need more people to confirm it's glitchy as like I said every trophy in the game unlocked fine for me and there were no issues.

Yeah could be, but in my case this isnt it, as i never was shot, never seen and only died during a jump twice.

About the mic, its a part where u have to tap a conversation by pointing the mic on the location. (1 time a elevator, 1 time a guy in a house and 1 time in a car infront of the player). Its easy to aim off a little and its a mission fail.

I cannot confirm if it counts as a death (a mission fail), i dont think so but i can't confirm this.

Including deaths and failures I had more than 5. I had 2 deaths and 4 failures so I believe failures don't matter. These are my thoughts.

1. Unlike the alarms you can't just reload your save when you have clearly died. (This is certain)

2. If you fall off a cliff like in the final level and the oil rig level and you're going to die I think maybe it adds a death whilst falling even before your health bar has vanished.

3. Failures don't count but if you have more than 5 failures it may lock trophy (I don't think this is true however)

4. Quick Load still runs the game in the background and you could be shot to death so always use Load Game

5. A failure classes as a death (If this was the case the trophy wouldn't have unlocked for me.)

6. At the end of Kalinatek it's possible to run straight to the copter and not shoot the enemies. Whilst the end of level screen comes up the enemies can keep shooting you and you can hear you taking damage. Whether this can kill you I don't know but assume that this is a possibility.

I had no issues backing up to a USB stick though. Before any tough sections back up your game to a USB stick and if you die simply delete your save file and copy from the stick. This deletes all your save games in the game and replaces them with your old ones at that point. Thus the death is deleted also as this is part of the single save game data that Splinter Cell HD produces. Just take it easy and it will unlock. I unlocked it on Normal difficulty and I was worried with having 6 failures including 2 deaths and 4 failures but it popped up straight away. The 5 points above I believe are the only issues that I can find.

oh ok thanks, Do you know if when the guards spot you, does that count as an alert or is it only when it appears in the box saying alarm stage raised.

Please read my points in the guide :(. I said in the guide that if a guard spots you that isn't an alarm. You'll hear an alarm sound and be told that the alarm level has risen. You can hear the alarm very clearly. Also if you raise the alarm in certain levels you fail instantly anyway as you can't raise one alarm. In some levels I don't believe there are alarms also like Oil Rig.

oh ok sorry mate, i also have a tip for the quick draw trophy to help people, you can use grenades and wallmines i got the trophy for doing that and i thought i wouldnt.

Also i have another Question about the USB stick method after reading the guide, I am currently on my urban legend playthrough and i have saved and copied onto the stick at the start/halfway point of every level so far but i have messed up a bunch of times( maybe 8) and had to delete/ copy back onto the ps3, will this mess up the trophy?

No. If you keep deleting and copying back you'll unlock it as long as you don't have 5+ deaths without deleting and copying back. If you die that's 1 death. If you delete save and copy a save from the USB stick from before this death you'll be back on 0 deaths.

I did Urban Legend, Passive Aggression, Stealth Operative and Third Echelon in the same run and was doing the same thing, copy to USB at the start and middle of stages and was restoring my save all the time in order to make sure I didn't kill, die or get caught and it didn't affect me. Just remember to make a copy of your save onto a different USB drive before you finish last mission.

If the trophies unlock, then great. If trophies don't unlock then you'll have a start of stage save (if they don't unlock because of a failure during mission) and a end of mission save (if they don't unlock because they are glitched). This will allow you to delete your game, download it from store again and you'll have two saves backed up.
