Author's Note: I will be travelling for a couple of days starting 30th January and will have limited web access. During this time Yoda91192 will answer any questions you have on my behalf. He is very active and helpful in the forums and so do take some time to appreciate his effort. Thank you.

Introduction

Spare Parts tells the story of courageous robots Mar-T and Chip, who find themselves dumped out with the rubbish on a strange planet. Working together in co-op mode, the mechanical duo must find a way to repair an abandoned space ship and escape the planet before evil Lord Krung can dispatch his henchmen to destroy them.

Roadmap

Firstly, this game is completely plat-able offline. You will need 2 controllers to collect certain collectibles if you choose to do it this way. Press :start: on your second Controller to have the 2nd player Drop-In anytime, and choose "Drop Out" in the Pause Menu to remove the 2nd player from the game anytime.

Otherwise, there is also Online Co-Op if you don't have 2 controllers.

Step 1: Complete the Story

Play the game normally as you would and complete the story first. Worry about collectibles later because some cannot be accessed until you obtain the necessary Action Parts later in the game. This should only take you about 3 hours. I recommend getting Level 3 Power Arm upgrade first for an easier time defeating enemies and Level 3 X-Scanner to increase the amount of credits you get for scanning objects. You will unlock majority of the trophies such as Jungle Master, Cave In, The sky is a new share of doom, Crashdown, All Systems Go, and Legendary.

You don't need to upgrade your Health or Part Thrower because you have unlimited lives and really this game is too short and easy to make the upgrades worthwhile, plus they're not required for any trophy.

Step 2: Replay each Zone and collect all Spare Parts

Once you're done with the story, you now have all the necessary tools to gain access to each collectible. Refer to the Collectible Guide for Ship Engineer trophy and take note some collectibles require either 2 players/controllers. If you don't have a 2nd controller, you can find a partner in this thread: Find An Online Co-Op Partner Thread.

Also keep working on gathering as much credits as you can and upgrade your Action Parts whenever you can, and when you're done with that purchase all Concept Arts to unlock Shop-o-Bot and Bigger Stronger Faster trophies

Step 3: Grinding for 1,000,000 credits and Purchasing Everything

The last trophies you'll probably need are Bigger Stronger Faster and Blingbot. Refer to the trophy guide for farming method under Blingbot and grind away towards your Platinum.

Spider-Monkey Queen Boss Fight Strategy

[spoiler=cave in] Perform a jump-slam attack (:cross::cross: + :square:) on the hand at the back, then push the block that extends in front of the middle platform back inside. This will remove the webbing holding one of the eggs in place on the platform. Move the freed egg in the middle to the hands on either side and wait there for the Boss to smash them, which will gradually crack the exit door at the back. Repeat the above another time.

After smashing 2 eggs, you will need to climb either railtrack on the left or right wall up onto the boss' back and subsequently her head, then use your Magno Boots to damage her brain. Thereafter, you fall back down to the ground and you'll now need to use the charged Power Arm to hit away her legs that are now covering both hands on the side of the middle platform so you can continue the push-egg-to-smash routine.

Repeat the whole process and smash 2 more eggs until there is 1 left, then go up the rail tracks onto the head and damage the boss again. Back down on the ground, her tail now appears on top of the hand at the back preventing you from using it, so you need to charge-hit (hold and release :circle:) the hand at the back with Power Arm first to get rid of the tail and repeat the entire egg smashing process one last time. Goto the exit door when it cracks open fully to end the fight.

Vista Cliffs finished

Story Related. Complete all 3 Zones of Level 3: Vista Cliffs to unlock this. Remember to collect Data Disk 4 in Zone 2 as it's required for a part in the Main Hub.

At the end of Zone 3 you need to first deactivate the Laser Cannon's shields by using a series of Nano-Trigger panels to activate some floating platforms. The actual Laser Cannon fight is pretty straight forward, use Magno Boots open up the control panel, Nano Trigger to bring the booster down, Power Arm to punch it, Rocket Boots to fire it up, and finally Nano Trigger again to move the booster back up. Repeat this on each of the other two panels and you're done.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/602/07.jpg Crashdownhttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_gold.png

Ancient Temple finished

Story Related. Complete all 4 Zones of Level 4: Ancient Temple to unlock this. The Level 3 Power Arm is makes your life much easier because the charge attack (hold and release :circle:) defeats all enemies with 1-Hit, except for Red Bots.

Zone 1 Puzzle Solution (Credits to Mendel)

[spoiler=puzzle1]

This zone is kinda buggy, you may need to walk around until you get a cutscene showing the two giant gear wheels before the puzzle can be "initiated".

First, push the two giant gears on the left side of the screen. Start with the top one, and then run and push the bottom one under the water before the top one moves away.

Next, you want to stand on the left EM pad at the bottom of the screen, and then the right. You'll see a quick cut scene showing the water moving near the top section on the right.

Jump up there and break the thing leaning against the big gear on the right of the little canyon thing, which will get the gear moving and the water flowing.

Next, jump across the canyon and push the block closest to the area you started in. You want to open these gates one at a time, from the furthest away from the fountain to the closest. You'll know you're doing them in the right order when they stay in position after you stop pushing them.

Finally, you'll see the oil leak out into the grooves of the floor. Head back to where you started, and use your hover boots to light the oil. Jump into the hole you've just created and you're done.

Zone 3 & 4 Boss Fight Strategy

[spoiler=crashdown]In Zone 3, you need to activate panels on the left, front and right sides with your Magno Boot and Nano Trigger. Each time you activate all 3, the shield protecting Krung will dissappear and 1 of 3 Red Ninja Bots will come out. Once you defeat it, you will need to re-activate all 3 panels again and fight another wave of enemies along with a 2nd Red Ninja Bot. Repeat this a third time and finally Krung will spring up a tower with turrets. Destroy each turret with your charged Power Arm attack, and then, activate each panel on the left, front and right sides again which will cause one of floor-rings surrounding him earlier to knock him off the tower.

In Zone 4, you need to wait until his shields are down, scan him with X-Scanner to find his weakness, and use the appropriate Action Part (Power Arm or Rocket Boots) to hurt him. Do this a couple of times until his helmet comes off. His shield will now be permanently deactivated and now you just need to keep punching him with charged Power Arm (hold and release :circle:) towards the fire on the right side and watch him burn.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/602/09.jpg Legendaryhttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_gold.png

Game completed!

Complete the game to unlock this.

After completing all 4 levels and back in the Main Hub, Con-Rad directs you to activate the ship's Engine Core. Activate the Magno Boot panel in the middle to open up access to lower levels. Go down two floors to the lowest level. You'll find another Magno Boot panel in the front of you. Activate it, then the Nano Trigger panels on your left and right. Platforms will appear on each side and you can cross them to activate the remaining two panels to start up the engine.

A final boss fight ensues afterwards.

[spoiler=Legendary]Much like the boss fight in the previous level, you need to scan Krung with X-Scanner and use the appropriate Action Part to send him backwards. If he reaches the middle of the room, you will lose and need to restart. Do this once, then goto the upper left and activate the floor panel with Magno Boots, and the Control Panel beside it with Nano Trigger.

Go scan and hit Krung again to send him back. Then goto the upper right and use Power Arm to push the wall panel. This will open the airlock and reveal a control panel at the bottom. Goto the control panel and use it with Nano Trigger, then put on your Magno Boots, walk over to Krung and punch him with :square:. Go back with Magno Boots still equipped (or you get sucked into space and lose) and deactivate the airlock to end the game and unlock this trophy.

1,000,000 credits collected

You earn credits by picking up coins, destroying objects and defeating enemies throughout each level. Collect a total of 1,000,000 credits to unlock this. You are free to spend the credits as you wish, there is no need to accumulate the whole amount at one time.

You can check your progress in the pause Menu, under Trophies section.

Farming Strategy by BobbyLight:

On the first part of the 3rd level the platform you start on has tons of enemies that keep spawning. Cross the bridge and walk a bit to the right until the camera pans back and shows the platform, it will show bad guys spawning where you started. Go back and finish them off. By the time they stop spawning you should have 40k. Finish the level for another 40k and you should get over 80k a play on that level.

Just went from 650k to 1mil in less than a half hour using this.

Alternative Strategy by ThEliteOne:

In Level 1 (Jungle Approach) Zone 1, play the level normally until you reach the Co-Op area with the Hatch and Nano Trigger panel. Activated it and defeat the 3 enemy robots. The last one will drop lots of Gold Coins. Run back to the well and knock down the teeth of the statue behind it, and clear the cave.

Exit the cave and all enemies outside will have respawned. Run back to the hatch, hit the panel and kill the 3 enemy robots again for another 5000 credits. Run back into the cave and quickly exit again (enemies inside the cave don't respawn) and back to the hatch and panel. Keep repeating this for 5000 credits every 30 seconds. Works even better if you have fully upgraded your Part Thrower for quick 1-hit kills from range.

You will be able to access everything once you've obtained the Rocket Boots in Zone 2 of Vista Cliffs. You are NOT required to save the broken robots for this trophy.

Note: Do NOT Install the 1.01 Patch if you want to platinum this. The patch is causing a collectible in Level 4 Zone 2 to go missing, thus glitching "Ship Engineer" trophy. As of now, EA is looking into it but no idea on when a fix will be out.

does this glitch happen 100% of the time.. im half way thru the game now and dont want to start over.

Ok guys, this is my breakdown:

If you DON'T install the patch, you can't play online (so you'll need 2 controllers) but you'll be able to platinum it. The main game is only 2-3 hours long as each stage shouldn't take you more than 10 minutes.

If you've completed the game with the patch and don't want to lose your save file because you made significant progress towards upgrading all the Action Parts and getting 1,000,000

1. Backup your save file

2. Delete the patch, then start a New Game on fresh save.

3. Get all the collectibles to unlock Ship Engineer

4. Reinstall the patch, load up your previous old save file that you backup earlier, and continue to work on the upgrades and 1,000,000 credits.

Sounds cool for you? This is ideal for those that don't want to wait for EA to fix it.

I will be doing this as I need to do a second playthrough again to finish up the collectible guide anyway, but any help finding the collectibles is welcomed.

Does anyone know where the final Ship part is? yewjhin has listed six but I can't find the 7th really bugs me as its my last one :(

Have you played the Combat Defense tutorial? You'll get it at the end of that.

Also, the quickest way i've found to get credits is play Level 1 Zone 1 over and over. You can get over 40k in this level with all the hidden areas and gold mushrooms.

Do you have the name of the part and location of data disk 6? I was doing my 2nd playthrough but had to go out for abit. Currently editing the guide on my iphone

1. Backup your save file

2. Delete the game, re-download it then start a New Game on fresh save.

3. Get all the collectibles to unlock Ship Engineer

4. Reinstall the patch, load up your previous old save file that you backup earlier, and continue to work on the upgrades and 1,000,000 credits.

Sorry if this might sound ignorant but....

Can I play through the whole game online and then do this method to go for the collectibles?

Nope you can't. The save file for patched version cannot be used after you're deleted/reinstalled the game without the patch. The games says its corrupt (so I say backup first).
