Roadmap

Introduction

Space Invaders Infinity Gene is a twist on the classic game that takes you out of the vertical 2D world and throws you into a 3Dish type world sending your ship in variety of directions. There are really only two things you need to worry about: moving your ship and shooting. Otherwise, it's all about dodging the nearly endless hordes of enemies on screen while also avoiding incoming fire. The trophies associated with Space Invaders Infinity Gene are rather easy once you get used to the game and can be done fairly quickly.

Walkthrough

Step 1: Play Through All 99 Challenge Mode Levels

Go to the Challenge option on the Game Menu and play through all 99 levels. This is very easy to do as you can die and just restart the last level you were on. Also by doing this part first, you will get a feel for the game as well as unlock a lot of the extras (extra starting lives, guns, bonus levels, etc). Once you finish all 99 levels, you will unlock Nightmare Difficulty & get Challenge Mode Clear.

Step 2: Play Through Normal Mode (Easy Difficulty)

Start up a Normal game on Easy difficulty (also, make sure you set you lives to the maximum amount you have unlocked). On the very 0 level, make sure you hit the UFO before you are warped to the true first stage as it will net you Classic UFO Hunter. Play through the game and try to aim to finish it without continuing/quitting as it will net you Continue-Free Clear, but if you die, just keep playing until you finish it out. Once you finish the game and beat the final boss (in level 5-6), you will get Easy Difficulty Clear.

Step 3: Get Misc Extra Trophies

You want to aim for the following trophies during this step:

  • Go to level 5-2 and use the "Field" Gun. Play through the beginning part of the stage with the fire button hold down and make sure you keep your chain going and hit everything. If you do it correctly, then right after the first "boss" you should easily be over 1500 chain hits & well over 10,000,000 points by then. This will get your High Score of 10,000,000 & 1,500 Chained.
  • Play Bonus level 1-1 and aim to stay right under the UFO when it fires as much as possible so it racks up Nagoya Attacks (don't fire, just hover under him). If you need to, you can eliminate some of the other aliens to give yourself room to stay under him. I used the "Field" gun and eliminated just the top row when the UFO went to the side so I wouldn't hit it too much, giving myself free reign to stay under the UFO when it attacked. If done correctly, you will get WAY more than 1,000 Nagoya attacks. This will get you 1,000 Nagoya Attacks.

Step 4: Play Through All Bonus Levels

You should have all of the Bonus levels unlocked at this point after doing the first 2 steps (if not, see the note below). Go through and play all the "Bonus" levels (1-1 through 2-6). Once you complete that it will unlock Insane Difficulty.

Note: If you don't have all the bonus levels unlocked at this point, then go back into the normal game go to level 5-2 and use the "Field" Gun. Play through the beginning part of the stage with the fire button held down and make sure you keep your chain going and hit everything. Once you defeat the first "boss" (you should easily be over 1500 chain hits & make upgrading very quick), kill off your remaining lives and repeat until you unlock it. There are other levels described through out this thread as well to "boost" your evolutions if you get bored of that one).

Step 5: Normal Mode (Normal, Hard, Insane & Nightmare Difficulties)

Go back to the main menu and change the difficulty to Normal. Go back to the normal game and select level 5-6 to play. Just beat the level and when your final standings appears (after credits), you will unlock Normal Difficulty Clear. Repeat for the other 3 difficulties and you will also get Hard Difficulty Clear, Insane Difficulty Clear, & Nightmare Difficulty Clear.

Step 6: Play Music Mode Ten Times

In the Game Menu, select Music, then select any song of your hard drive. Once the stage starts, just play through it. Play through Music Mode 10 times and the trophy will pop after the 10th one. You do not need to beat the stages, so the easiest way would be to just kill yourself quickly and then restart.

NOTE: You need to have some type of music stored on your hard drive in order to play Music Mode!

Step 7: Play Through Normal Mode Without Continuing/Quitting

(You can skip this if you got it during step 2)

I saved this step until last because it is definitely the hardest trophy in the game. By now you should have an excellent grasp of the game and have all the extras unlock that can help you out. Make sure you put the difficulty to Easy and put your lives to 9 so you have the best chance of beating it. If there is a certain level that is causing you problems, practice it before hand until you have it down. Keep trying to make it all the way from Level 0 all the way through 5-6. Once you beat it without continuing/quitting, you will get Continue-Free Clear.

Eliminate all UFOs in Stage 0.

You must hit the UFO in the intro stage of the game. This can be tricky as you aren't given much time before it transports you to the first level. Easiest way I found to do it is once the stage starts, move towards the right until you're a little over a 1/3 of the way over, then move back to the left. That little movement should cause the UFO to appear on the left side giving you a chance to shoot at it before the stage ends. Once you hit it the trophy will be yours.

NOTE: The trophy will not pop until after you lose all your lives or beat the game (whichever comes first).

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/599/02.jpg HIGH SCORE OF 10,000,000 http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Acquire a high score of 10,000,000

As you play through the game, your score will add up after every level as long as you keep completing them without dying. If you die, your score will reset and you'll have to start from the beginning again. This is easiest if you try for it after you've unlocked the ability to set your starting ships to 9 as it gives you a maximum chance of doing it. The later levels will give the most points, but are also more difficult. Just keep playing through levels racking up points until you hit 10,000,000!

For an easier way of doing this, see 1,500 CHAINED & use the method found there as it will net you more than 10,000,000 points if done right.

NOTE: The trophy will not pop until after you lose all your lives or beat the game (whichever comes first).

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/599/03.jpg1,500 CHAINED http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Achieve a chain of 1,500

Go to level 5-2 and use the "Field" Gun. Play through the beginning part of the stage with the fire button hold down and make sure you keep your chain going and hit everything. If you do it correctly, then right after the first "boss" you should easily be over 1500 chain hits at that point.

(Thanks to pasufarin for the tip!)

NOTE: The trophy will not pop until after you lose all your lives or beat the game (whichever comes first).

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/599/04.jpg 1,000 NAGOYA ATTACKS http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Perform 1,000 Nagoya Attacks in a single stage.

Play Bonus level 1-1 and aim to stay right under the UFO when it fires as much as possible so it racks up Nagoya Attacks (don't fire, just hover under him).

(Thanks to Eternal_Spoon for the tip!)

NOTE: The trophy will not pop until after you lose all your lives or beat the game (whichever comes first).

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/599/05.jpg MUSIC FAN http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Play Music Mode 10 times.

In the Game Menu, select Music, then select any song of your hard drive. Once the stage starts, just play through it. Play through Music Mode 10 times and the trophy will pop after the 10th one. You do not need to beat the stages, so the easiest way would be to just kill yourself quickly and then restart.

NOTE: You need to have some type of music stored on your hard drive in order to get this trophy! The trophy will also pop after you die or complete the 10th Music Mode level.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/599/06.jpg EASY DIFFICULTY CLEAR http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Beat Normal Mode on Easy.

Set the difficulty in the "Help & Options -> Settings" menu to EASY , then start a Normal Game. Play through the entire game (which consists of 30 levels, 6 per stage) and focus on just beating the game. You do not have to beat it in one sitting or without continuing, so play away and retry once you run out of lives. After beating the final boss (in level 5-6), the trophy will pop!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/599/07.jpg NORMAL DIFFICULTY CLEAR http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Beat Normal Mode on Normal.

Just beat the game on Normal Difficulty and the trophy will pop after you complete it!

NOTE: For a VERY quick and easy way of getting this trophy, finish the game on Easy Difficulty first, then change the difficulty to Normal. Go back to the game and select to play level 5-6. Once you beat the boss (and the original game alien) the credits will roll and the trophy for Normal Difficulty will pop!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/599/08.jpg HARD DIFFICULTY CLEAR http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png

Beat Normal Mode on Hard.

You must first unlock Hard Difficulty by beating the game on either Easy or Normal Difficulty. After that, just beat the game on Hard Difficulty and the trophy will pop after you complete it!

NOTE: For a VERY quick and easy way of getting this trophy, finish the game on Easy Difficulty first, then change the difficulty to Hard. Go back to the game and select to play level 5-6. Once you beat the boss (and the original game alien) the credits will roll and the trophy for Hard Difficulty will pop!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/599/09.jpg INSANE DIFFICULTY CLEAR http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png

Beat Normal Mode on Insane.

You must first unlock Insane Difficulty by beating all the bonus stages. After that, just beat the game on Insane Difficulty and the trophy will pop after you complete it!

NOTE: For a VERY quick and easy way of getting this trophy, finish the game on Easy Difficulty first, then change the difficulty to Insane. Go back to the game and select to play level 5-6. Once you beat the boss (and the original game alien) the credits will roll and the trophy for Normal Difficulty will pop!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/599/12.jpg NIGHTMARE DIFFICULTY CLEAR http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_gold.png

Beat Normal Mode on Nightmare.

You must first unlock Nightmare Difficulty by completing Challenge Mode. After that, just beat the game on Nightmare Difficulty and the trophy will pop after you complete it!

NOTE: For a VERY quick and easy way of getting this trophy, finish the game on Easy Difficulty first, then change the difficulty to Nightmare. Go back to the game and select to play level 5-6. Once you beat the boss (and the original game alien) the credits will roll and the trophy for Normal Difficulty will pop!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/599/10.jpg CHALLENGE MODE CLEAR http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png

Beat all 99 stages in Challenge Mode.

At the Main Menu, select Start Game, then Challenge and begin playing through all 99 stages. You do not need to do them in one sitting or make it through without dying/continuing, so it's not that hard. Set your ships to whatever the maximum amount you have unlocked is and use whatever weapons you are most comfortable with through the levels (if you want to change them, just die and select another weapon for the retry). Once you finish all 99 stages, the trophy will pop!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/599/11.jpg CONTINUE-FREE CLEAR http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png

Beat Normal Mode without using any continues (on any difficulty level with any number of ships).

You must run through all of the Normal Mode game without using any continues or quitting. Easiest way to attempt this is to set the difficulty to easy, set your ships to 9 and select your favourite gun, then attempt to run through all 30 stages (starting at stage 0) without losing all your lives. Once you finish the game without continuing, the trophy will pop!

Had no idea you could just play the last level to get the difficulty trophies. Very, very cool. Going to go grab those right now. Thanks!

Just figured that one out right now... Not sure if it can be done with Insane or Nightmare as well since beating Hard in that way didn't unlock either one, but I'll try it on those ones later to verify if it can be or not.

Well, I unlocked Nightmare by beating the Challenge Mode. Perhaps Insane is unlocked by doing Music or the Bonus stages...?

I popped the trophy for beating Nightmare last night so I sadly can't confirm if the above listed method works for popping that difficulty trophy for it.

As an interesting aside; I attempted to unlock the Hard playthrough trophy via your method first and it didn't work. But when I attempted Easy it did. And then Normal worked. And then Hard did. Very, very strange. But I'm not going to argue with the results.

Yeah, you actually have to beat it on Easy or Normal to unlock it, I tried with my method and it didn't work either so... Still, nice to get the Normal & Hard ones easy

I'm working on Challenge right now so I'll see if it works with Nightmare that way in a little bit...

Not sure about Insane mode though as I've done the Music mode ones and nothing, so maybe the bonus ones...

You can get both HIGH SCORE OF 10,000,000 and 1,500 CHAINED on 5-2 using the Field weapon (I had a chain of over 1,750 and about 16,000,000 points; I was playing on Normal difficulty). This is also a good level for getting points to unlock things. Just play the first part of the level and let yourself run out of lives after you complete the huge chain.

Also, it seems that all trophies don't unlock until after you run out of lives and get the score summary screen, not just the UFO one.

Bonus 1-1 is the best, quickest stage for Nagoya attacks. Got over 2000 in one run :D

It's also the level I spammed the crap out of to unlock everything so fast (music, bonus stages, ships, and extra lives at start). You always fill up your Gene gauge since you get tons and tons of points :D.

If you don't know what a Nagoya attack is, either read the help section in the game on it, or just be directly below the big UFO when it fires (up close).

EDIT: Insane is unlocked by clearing all the Bonus Stages.

Almost beat it on Easy with no continues (with 9 lives). I kinda goofed a few times early on (my own stupid careless mistakes), and died at 4-5/6, I forget which.

Only thing that gave me a bit of trouble is the Water Strider and Crab bosses, and that's because the camera, though kinda cool, sucks imo.

Also a tip for the 2nd time you fight the boss Unknown (I think that's the one), to keep him from doing that massive explosion attack that I never seem to avoid, just time him out (last so long without killing him and he'll go away). I think you need to kill 'em the first time but I never tried. I only say that because he usually ALWAYS costs me a life otherwise...

And XD, tons of Field ships at the top of the leaderboard.

Yep, 9 is the most you can start with, and you can't earn any during game.

I made it to 5-4 on my last attempt, and was doing pretty good till I got a bit clumsy and lost lives I shouldn't have lost...

For example, I lost my final life in 5-4... by running into a wall >_<

Wow... That's rough man! Hope you make it!:D It's so hard for me to survive sometimes. I get my ass kicked sometimes to where I think "what's the f-ing point?!?! I'll just keep f-ing dying anyways!!!" Sure, I'm not that good at shooters, but 9 lives through 30 levels?!?! Sounds crazy to me. If only there were 10 lives....

I'll be cheering for ya and for anyone else attempting clear game continues free!:D
