Introduction:

SoulCalibur V is the newest instalment in the Soul series this is also the first SoulCalibur game to have trophy support on the PS3. The game takes place 17 years after the events of SoulCalibur IV however the story is nothing particularly "note-worthy". The game only features a variety of offline modes such as Story Mode, Arcade Mode, Quick Battle, Legendary Souls, Character Creation and the traditional required modes such as Versus and Training which is a shame as most casual players loved SoulCalibur for its amount of single player content. New to the game is the introduction of "meter" allowing for new Brave Edge/Critical Edge giving the game more of a Street Fighter feel allowing for more combo possibilities for competitive players to experiment with.

Trophy-wise this game can be quite difficult for players new to the 3D fighting game genre and is a bit of a grind for various other trophies within the game. Nothing is particularly difficult, however there is quite the grind involved with movement, player level and the amount of connect hits. Another thing to note about this trophy list is that there are no combo mission modes in this game so that's one bigger obstacle dodged.

Understanding the 3D World:

A lot of players only recently started getting into SoulCalibur through its newest installment so here are a couple things to keeping mind in terms of gameplay and how you should be approaching the world of SoulCalibur opposed to how you would a 2D fighter like Street Fighter or Blazblue.

Movement

Unlike the the 2D worlds where you have left, right and the space above you to move in the 3D world you have sidestepping or the 8-way run movement. Get adjusted to sidestepping but don't go overboard with it as you can get punished for doing it too often as you are vulnerable during the side step animation. Think of side-stepping as another jump in Street Fighter except you can go multiple directions.

Spacing

Spacing is VERY important in SoulCalibur, understand your opponents range and respecting their space will make a huge difference in battle. If you were to fight Siegfried for example don't go running in right away even though the only way to fight him effectively is up close, wait for him to wait a normal or too and wait to dash in during the recovery of that move. One mistake can easily covert into big damage and Oki set ups.

Ring Control

Similar to spacing you want to have control of the stage around you, don't let your opponent push you to the the edges or the walls as they can convert them into ringouts or wall hit combos. Learn the moves that do a lot of knock back to your opponent use those to pressure them into a bad position.

Ukemi Traps

In SoulCalibur it seems that Ukemi (or Tech Traps) are a common thing compared to other fighting games, while they are important in every fighting game it seems like they are emphasized more in this game. When getting knocked out be wary of where and how you roll. Easily the best option is to just get up and block immediately, however for higher level players it seems traps are the norm so Teching right away might put you back down with even more damage. Watch your opponents movements and try to Tech Roll backward, side to side or even forward accordingly. Don't get too frustrated if it seems like you are always get caught by these you can only learn through trial and error.

Mix-ups/Pressure

Mix-ups (and cross ups) have become a joke in the recent generation of fighters, It used to be limited to the best who can consistently mix or cross someone up in matches however with recent games like Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 they are practically handed to everyone with full screen beam assist and teleport moves. In SoulCalibur simply spamming one attack when you think your opponent isn't blocking won't be enough. One of the most common things you will see in a match is both players exchanging an attack and blocking it one after the other. You have to be the one to step up and throw in a high and low mix up or even grab mix ups.

Keep in mind that, when you go for a grab, the opponent has to not only see the grab coming but also determine which grab you used i.e A or B. Experienced players can identify this by looking at the grab animation and reacting accordingly however, novice players will continue to fall for it over and over again. Added to this remember to throw in high and low pokes in your pressure strings, for example if your character has a 2 hit move that quickly goes high and then low, try throwing that out every now and then just to shock your opponent and then go in for the Ukemi Trap. Even simple 2K pokes work as well so long as you aren't always going for mid or high attacks.

Button Configuration:

Throughout the guide you will notice that the buttons from the game will be used opposed to the buttons on a regular PS3 controller. Assuming you are using the default button config, here is the legend map for the buttons:

Breakdown:

Normally for fighting games you have the option to do everything whenever you want. For this one however, follow the first few modes step by step to make the last steps more convenient for you. Before doing anything else keep the following technical trophies in mind as knowing how to do them and how many you need to do early on, will reduce the grind you may have to do for them later. You cannot grind these out in versus or training mode so the sooner you get them, the better. The technical trophies are:

(B) Stalwart Barbarian

(B) Adored by Heaven

(B) Like a Flowing Stream

(B) Momentary Pleasure

(B) Black Sword of Death

(B) Hands of the Abyss

(B) Parrier of Swords

(B) Alluring Kaleidoscope

(B) Gale Forces

(B) Fancy of a Mad King

http://i.imgur.com/6FHfmLM.png

You can keep track of these trophies through your Soul Link in the Astral Home by pressing :square:, scroll down and you will see statistics for the amount of distance you have moved and how many of each technical move you have done. Also keep in mind that almost every mode you do (except for training mode and versus) gives you player points so you will naturally unlock the following player point trophies while going for every other trophy:

(B) Fetal Soul

(B) Throbbing Soul

(B) History Repeats

Astral Home/Early Trophies:

Starting out there are some trophies you can earn right away through the menus and in creation. You can knock these out right away but also keep in mind while you are doing this, when looking for players to set as your rival, that you find a rival with a long time for you to beat in ranking arcade mode. Here are the following trophies you can earn right away through the Astral Home and other options:

(B) A Soul Coalesces

(B) Beginning of Destiny (:psn: required)

(B) Notes on Rivals (:psn: required)

(B) Passionate Artist

(B) Colorful Illusion

(B) Lively Pub

Story -1607 A.D-:

First you want to go through Story -1607 A.D- not only because it's a couple of fast trophies in 20 minutes but it also unlocks characters required for Quick Battle search and it unlocks Legendary Souls which has a trophy connected to it as well. The Story mode is easy even for beginners and gives you the option to retry with a lower difficulty if you ever find yourself stuck. At the end of this step you should have the following trophies unlocked:

(B) Purge of the Holy

(B) Shields Come Together

(S) Resurrection of Order

(G) Home is Faraway

Arcade Mode:

In Arcade Mode you will have to face a set of 6 opponents and, depending on the route you decide on, will determine if you fight a preset layout of opponents or if you face a random set. There are 3 trophies in this step, 2 you can earn at the same time and 1 you must do separately if you have your rival set already from the first step who has completed Ranking Arcade with a high time. Here are the following trophies you can earn during this step:

(B) Perfect Trainee

(S) War Veteran

(B) Mask Another's Memory (:psn: required)

Legendary Souls:

This mode can only be unlocked after you have completed Story -1607 A.D- and should be unlocked if you are following the steps accordingly. This mode is one heck of a mode that challenges even the most experiences of SoulCalibur players, luckily you do not have to complete it all the way however you do have to beat the first opponent and with a brave edge attack no less giving you more work than you need. During this step you will unlock the following trophy:

(S) Skills for Duels

Quick Battle:

You will be spending most of your time in this more as you have face 240 opponents all of which range in difficulty, some are manageable even for the newer players while some are on par with the difficulty of the opponents in Legendary Souls. Following the advice under Sudden Temptation will be vital for this step and even that method could prove to be frustrating against the A rank opponents. During this step you will be getting the following trophies:

(B) Path to Glory

(B) Road to the Duel

(S) Sudden Temptation

(B) Pursuit of Obsession

(B) Usurped True Name

The rest of the Online trophies:

During this step you will be ranking up in ranked matches and grinding out matches and victories which can be boosted in player matches. The game also requires you to play as Ezio Auditore from the Assassins Creed series. Playing under ranked would normally be difficult but following the boosting method under First Step of a Legend will make it a little less frustrating for those novice at the game. During this step you will be unlocking the following trophies:

(B) Proof of a Fighter

(B) Mercenary of War

(S) Strategist of War

(S) Hero Carved in History

(B) Carry Out Your Beliefs

(S) Courageous Warrior

(G) Conqueror of the Arena

(B) Synchronize DNA

(B) Awakened to Violence

(B) Reason to Fight For

(S) First Step of a Legend

(B) Sings Own Praise

(S) No-hitter

Clean Up/Grind:

During this step you will be cleaning up any trophies you may have for some reason skipped and some trophies you may have to grind out, like the number of hits or distance moved in your overall SCV career and any technical trophies listed right under the breakdown you may not have completed. For this final step here are the trophies you should be unlocking to finish up the game:

(S) Soul Fulfilled

(B) Wind of Battle

(B) Never Ending Effort

(B) Footprints of Soldiers

(B) Give in to Temptation

(P) Unwritten History

Conclusion:

SoulCalibur V has been criticized to be lacking its traditional load of single player content however the changes to the actual gameplay greatly make up for it. The trophies are not hard with the correct knowledge but can be a little frustrating whether you are a novice or a veteran player, aside from the difficulty here and there the game can be quite the grind in the end.

For this trophy you must edit at least one of the 4 selections above, once you have done so you can exit out back to the Main Menu where your trophy will pop.

Aside from the usual icon and title other fighting games have already given us, SCV has given us an option to select our region which can be used to help let players know who they may be facing online during the pre-lobby and can avoid a possibly laggy match with an opponent overseas. Added to that there's a special selection that allows you to pin point where you are on the World Map for other players to know where you are from and the state you represent.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1016/5E9.jpgFirst Step of a Legend (S)

Reached D1 rank in ranked match.

The Rank System in SoulCalibur V uses letters and numbers to differentiate between the tiers. To go up in rank you have to accumulate a certain amount of points, the points required for each trophy are listed as follows:

(B) Awakened to Violence: 600 points

(B) Reason to Fight For: 2400 Points

(S) First Step of a Legend: 7400 Points

During the early ranking levels in E you do not lose points even when you lose. You earn roughly 100 points more or less for every win and about 50 for each loss, however once you reach D tier you will lose about 15 points per loss also keep in mind that if you lose too many fights after D4 you could be put into Ranking Down Matches and go backwards in rank.

Using the fundamentals listed under the Road Map and under the technical trophies play your matches smart. Here are some more bits of advice for those looking who are inexperienced in SoulCalibur:

Analyzing Your Opponent

Analyzing your opponent is important in every fighting game however, it is stressed greatly in a game like SoulCalibur V to have your defensive options ready and play passively if you need to analyze your opponent. Look out for the habits they have like how often they go for grabs and high and lows during there pressure strings, being able to open up your opponents play style is key.

Understanding Your Character

When playing with a character in SouCalibur you basically want to break it down to knowing your characters fastest pokes and punishes, fastest high and lows and fastest mix up moves. Practice makes perfect, go into Training Mode and play around with your character and go through there move list one move at a time. For general strategies and various discussions on your character, you can never go wrong with the 8wayrun Soul Arena Sub-Forums.

Understanding the Match up

Just like in all other fighting games, knowing the match up is very important, knowing the weaknesses of your opponents characters and what tendencies players who main that character have will make a world of difference if you can read there actions perfectly.

There is a way to boost this, however it can be a bit tedious and may possibly require a good internet connection between both players, for this boosting method please refer to Kagerasimarus "Best way to boost Online Ranked Matches From E5-D1 Trophies" thread.

If you are having trouble finding a partner, then please refer to the Trophy Boosting Thread.

Uploaded a replay of your win.

:psn:: PSN Connection Required.

For this trophy you must upload one match where you win the match. The matches you are allowed to upload must be played through PlayStation®Network. At the end of every match it will have an option to "upload replay" however this is not how you upload your replay for your trophy.

After you have played a match where you win, go back to the PlayStation®Network menu and select Replay. The first selection should be your Battle Log showcasing your previous 8 matches online. Highlight the match you won and press :square: to upload it, this will attach the upload to your license for other people to download and view as well as unlock your trophy.

:psn:: PSN Connection Required.

For this trophy you must view another players replay, to do this you must download it from another players license card. First press :square: in the Main menu to access your Soul Link, highlight your Rival's license cards and press :triangle: to see if they have a replay to download. If there is no indication to download a replay, exit and return to the PlayStation®Network menu.

Select Ranking and start from the top of leaderboards going down (make sure your filter is set to show it from the top ranks if it isn't already by press :square:). Highlight each persons name and press :triangle: and look for the indication to download a replay. Once you have found one press :square: to download it and return to the Replay menu, press :r1: and scroll to the "Other Players Battles" and press :circle: to playback the replay. Quick Battle: defeated 150 warriors.

Please refer to "Sudden Temptation" for more information.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1016/509.jpgSudden Temptation (S)

Quick Battle: defeated all warriors.

For this trophy you must defeat every possible opponent in Quick Battle, there are a total of 240 opponents which vary in difficulty and style. Just like the online rankings, the opponents of Quick Battle are given a rank which indicate the difficulty of the A.I Opponent.

Important Note:

Remember to back out to the Astral Home after you defeat every opponent (or every now and then) so that your progress can be saved. If the system were to turn off beforehand, your progress wouldn't be saved and you would have to defeat certain opponents again.

Searching For Opponents/Narrowing Down the List:

When searching for opponents you can use the color of their names to determine if you have defeated them before, if it is highlighted green that means you still have to beat them for this trophy. If you are wondering how many more opponents you have to beat in general you can press :r1: to view your title list from Quick Battle which shows all 240 titles earned from the mode.

If you are trying to find a specific opponent you can press :square: to search a specific criteria using the following options:

  • Area
  • Opponent Strength
  • Battle Record Status

After you obtain your search results you can press :triangle: to refresh them if you find that the list of opponents are all ones you have previously defeated.

Starting out you can set the Opponent Strength to Beginner and work your way up to Advanced until you have most if not all of the titles unlocked, you can also change the Battle Record Status to "New Opponent First". If while playing against the Advanced opponents, you start having trouble you can use the Battle Record option to find them easier since they will obviously have more victories than losts.

Special Opponent Criteria

If you are having trouble finding certain opponents, keep in mind that some of them have a special criteria before they will show up in the search results. There are some unlock conditions such as having a certain character unlocked such as:

  • α Patroklos
  • Pyrrha Ω
  • Elysium
  • Kilik
  • Edge Master

All of these characters unlock after you reach a certain level. All of them can easily be unlocked through Story mode while Kilik, however, can be unlocked by beating him in Legendary Souls or Arcade Mode (or you can opt for reaching Player Level 9 for him).

Other requirements involve you getting a win streak within that difficulty level before the opponent appears, win streaks of 3 and 5 are the most common requirements. In Beginner and Intermediate this may not be so much of an issue, however, in Advanced you want to be able to Identify them if they show up. Here is a list of opponent names you want to look out for under Advanced Difficulty while you have a win streak or 3 or 5:

  • MINAMI NAIKOS
  • Daishi
  • Unknown (requires 5 win streak)
  • Li Long
  • GuardianWolf

Opponent Fighting Statistics:

Under the opponents thumbnail will 4 statistics measured by sliders indicating what each opponent excels in and where they are weak. Against earlier opponents this may not be important at all however against the Advanced opponents every little bit of information helps especially for this inexperienced in the game. The slider measurement goes from left to right, the left side indicating a lower value and vice versa.

Attack Type

The Attack Type will indicate how often the A.I opponent will attack and try to pressure you, the higher it is the more they will go in to attack. If this statistic is low it means they'll be more defensive and block your attacks, rather than be the one to make the first move.

Close Combat

Just as the title of this statistic is named, this particular statistic represents how often the opponent will use close combat moves such as throws. If the rating on this is lower, the opponent may Space more than they do closing in on you.

Impact

Impact indicates how often the opponent will use their Critical Gauge towards Guard Impacts, the higher the rating the sooner they'll use it once they build the meter, if the rating is low they will reserve the meter of Critical Edge attacks.

Horizontal Movement

Horizontal Movement indicates how often the opponent will side step or just quick move attacks, the higher the rating the move they will move in this fashion. If the rating is lower they will be more direct with you.

Beginner Tactics:

Fighting against the Beginner and Intermediate opponents is pretty manageable even for those starting out playing SoulCalibur however Advanced can prove to be on par in terms of difficulty with that of Legendary Souls if not harder.

The enemy A.I's will prioritise good damage on you in Advanced difficulty making use of their Critical Gauge to throw in Brave Edge combo enders with their hit confirms. The A.I's are pretty good at being unpredictable with their motions, throwing out various high and low mix ups and are quite fearful when you get knocked down as they do different Oki mix ups for more damage. If you block incorrectly it could result in a lot of damage if not death.

There are various methods to tackle hard A.I opponents such as this however these two methods have proved to be pretty effective even for beginners.

http://i.imgur.com/ZyFkmbV.png Natsu:

According to the games' tier list, Natsu is S tier, the top of the top right under the banned Devil Jin Play style that can only be used through a creation character. Natsu is one of the fastest characters in the game and can mix up opponents with her easily movesets, her fast movements also allow her to pressure opponents easily safely without being punished as well as fast and deadly Oki mix up's leaving opponents very cautious when approaching her.

Those knowledgeable about this character should easily be able to fly through all the difficult modes with ease. However, those who prefer different playstyles or are just too inexperienced to learn her in-depthly, here are some basic commands that can be spammed effectively against A.I opponents.

Wind Roll

Wind Roll is a fast "roll" that by appearance looks like Natsu teleports right in front of the opponent and, depending on your next command, she will continue with a follow up attack. The attack avoids all high attacks however it can easily be hit out of with a mid or low attack, most A.I opponents won't react to this all the time. They will either block it or take the hit, now here's where else the move exceeds in. On Block, the move is completely safe, it will push the opponent back a fair distance so there is no way they can punish you and it does quite a bit of damage towards your opponents guard, for guard breaks. The only thing you want to look out for is the move whiffing and missing your opponent because then they can run toward you as you land and punish and apply pressure to you.

The input for Wind Roll and its recommended follow up is: http://bit.ly/1lGwKgRhttp://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3+http://bit.ly/1ljvX4J,http://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3,http://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3,http://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3.

Distorted Breeze

Distorted Breeze is similar to http://bit.ly/1IcZtPahttp://bit.ly/1IcZtPa or http://bit.ly/1QFszPhhttp://bit.ly/1QFszPh moves, much like her Wind Roll she teleports to the side and attacks. Using this is a good way to get out of close range pressure and is especially good if you are trying to escape pressure from a whiffed Wind Roll as mentioned above. There are various follow ups to the Distorted Breeze but the one you want to use often is: http://bit.ly/1IcZtPaorhttp://bit.ly/1QFszPhhttp://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3+http://bit.ly/1ljvX4J, http://bit.ly/1PyJ0rj+http://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3.

Brave Edge Hit

Because Natsu is so fast with her moves you are sure to land a couple hit confirms off her normal pokes, a notable poke http://bit.ly/1lGwKgRhttp://bit.ly/1lGwKgRhttp://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3 can combo into one of her Brave Edge attack the problem is that you must input the http://bit.ly/1SVwZlh +http://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3+http://bit.ly/1ljvX4J almost immediately as the move is about to hit but if you can land, it'll do an extra 10 points of damage added to the original 48 which is pretty good in this game.

http://i.imgur.com/hJbmqWy.png Mitsurugi:

Mitsurugi is your well balanced samurai with good range that can be used both offensively and defensively. The smallest pokes from Mitsurugi do optimal damage and, against impatient A.I characters, can accumulate into easy K.Os. A lot of his hidden strengths come from his Oki game and deal serious damage.

Wind Slash

Wind Slash is an jumping move which flies Mitsurgi high in the air and comes landing down dealing a great blow on the opponent with his blade. The animation of this move could be confused as a high attack, however it is not. The move itself does 72 damage on Clean Hit and 58 regular which is roughly a little over 1/4 or 1/5 of an opponents life bar. The only problem with this is that it can be poked out of and is unsafe on block, throw it out only ever so often when you believe the A.I may not expect it. The input for Wind Slash is http://bit.ly/1QFszPhhttp://bit.ly/1SVwZlh+http://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3.

Heavenly Dance Series

Heavenly Dance Series is a perfectly ranged move for to punished whiffed attacks, the damage alone does 60 damage in total which is relatively high compared to the rest of the cast. There are multiple variants to the move all of which are double forward motions however in different diagonal directions. http://bit.ly/1lGwKgRhttp://bit.ly/1lGwKgR is the fastest of two however does not launch high enough to pick up more damage and is unsafe on block,http://bit.ly/1jhwC5Chttp://bit.ly/1jhwC5C can launch and follow up for much more damage but is slower but just a bit. After either of these inputs you hit http://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3http://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3 right after so for example http://bit.ly/1lGwKgRhttp://bit.ly/1lGwKgRhttp://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3http://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3.

Brave Edge Hit

Upon the final round of your matches Mitsurugi will have a good amount of Critical Gauge build up, you can either go for hit confirms into Critical Edge or you can go for low pokes for higher accumulative damage. An easy Brave Edge hit with Mitsurugi is http://bit.ly/1IcZtPahttp://bit.ly/1ljvX4J,http://bit.ly/1SVwZlh+http://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3+http://bit.ly/1ljvX4J which is a low attack which has a better chance of hitting A.I opponents then mid and high attacks, the added damage does about 38 damage it may not be as high as your normals but doing it off ahttp://bit.ly/1IcZtPahttp://bit.ly/1ljvX4J multiple times will add up.

Story: cleared final episode.

During the Final Episode of Story -1607 A.D- you will play as α Patroklos against Elysium.

There are a total of 20 Episodes within Story -1607 A.D- all of which are relatively easy matches even for newcomers. If you ever find yourself having trouble with a certain fight, the game gives you the option to rematch the episode with a lower difficulty.

Throughout Story -1607 A.D- you will come across Episodes where you must face 3 different opponents within the same Episode, if you were to lose during the second or third round of that episode rematching afterwards will bring you right back to that character (this does not apply however to regular 1 on 1 best of 5 matches).

The characters you will be required to play as throughout Story -1607 A.D- consist of the following characters:

  • Patroklos
  • Pyrrha
  • Z.W.E.I
  • α Patroklos
  • Pyrrha Ω

Because Story -1607 A.D- isn't too difficult at all you really don't need to know any of the character specific movesets to complete it. Using standard http://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3http://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3,http://bit.ly/1lGwKgRhttp://bit.ly/1lGwKgRhttp://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3 andhttp://bit.ly/1IcZtPahttp://bit.ly/1jhwC5Chttp://bit.ly/1lGwKgR attack inputs will be more than enough and even if it gets alittle too hard, as mentioned above you can select the option to rematch with lower difficulty when you lose.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1016/ACE.jpgWar Veteran (S)

Arcade: cleared any route with difficulty set on hard.

For this trophy you must clear any route on hard difficulty, you can also play it on the Asia route so you can earn Perfect Trainee at the same time. If you do end up playing it on Asia here are some things to look out for in your A.I opponents.

Leixia

Leixia is weak at mid-long range and doesn't have a tremendously high damage output. Her power comes from her movement and how predictable she can be but because she is under the control of a CPU A.I you won't have to worry about that. Poking her out with long range http://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3http://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3 can keep her at bay. Which out about getting hit on Counter Hit with her http://bit.ly/1SVwZlhhttp://bit.ly/1SVwZlh as she can follow it up into her Brave Edge and even into her Critical Edge if she starts to get in on you.

Xiba

Though Xiba may seem threatening and you want to back away and wait for openings, that is exactly the opposite of what you should be doing. His strength comes from mid-long combat. However, compared to other characters in the cast, he is slow and can be put into pressure by the right player. Another problem players seem to have is knowing when you can punish and knowing the difference between the high and low attacks. Xiba likes to throw those in and if he confirms it with Critical Gauge, he can convert it into damage with a Brave Edge.

Natsu

Natsu is a force to be reckoned with, with her fast normals and her teleports into high damaging moves you want to be patient when fighting her. Even her normals are safe on whiff so punishing missed normals could hurt if she hits you in the right spot. Additionally you want to watch out for her Oki set up with Exorcism. If put into the corner she can hit you into a unblockable set up for VERY big damage which is one of the many frustrations against Natsu.

Yoshimitsu

Yoshimitsu relies on close range pressure to get in on his opponents and heavily lacks anything from a distance. If you can take notice to his mix up moves and block accordingly, you should be fine. Also take note that this match takes place on Mt. Fuji the Holy: Hidden Dragon which is the stage with the wooden raft with no walls to prevent ring outs which is a good option to aim for if you are having trouble against him.

Maxi

Against Maxi you want to space him well, once he gets into a offensive momentum its hard to push him out of it. Throwing out pokes to tell him to back off during his pressure strings is a good way to get out.

Kilik

Kilik has the ability to take on the weapon style of any male character in the game so approaching him comes down to your knowledge of each individual character. Make use of the stage, just like the fight with Yoshimitsu this one takes place in Mt. Fuji the Holy: Hidden Dragon so you can aim for ring outs.

For help on character choice and moves to use with those characters, please refer to Sudden Temptation for more information.

Arcade: cleared a ranking route with a record better than your rival.

:psn:: PSN Connection Required.

For this trophy you must clear the ranking route and score a better time then one of your rivals. Keep in mind that, while doing this trophy, you must be connected to PSN so that the game can identify you have beaten one of your rival's scores.

The ranking route generates a random set of opponents and is preset to normal, after facing Hard this should be a much more laid back task for players. On average without losing a round someone can obtain about 5-6 minutes average on their time, anything more than that means the person had to retry a couple times. If any of the rivals you selected has a time of 10+ minutes it should be more than enough for you to being Ranking route and obtain your trophy, however if no one on your friends list has a high time for you to beat then you have two options:

1: Set the filter on the Leaderboards and press :square: to filter it to yourself (assuming you have beaten it already and missed the required time). Keep scrolling down and add maybe a good 3-4 minutes to the time and make one of those players your rival and then try again.

2: Make a second PSN account and add yourself, on that second account play through Ranking Arcade and just play badly and give that second account a large time that you should be capable of beating. After you do that, go on your main account, make him your rival through the filters, then clear the Ranking route for your trophy.

Quick Battle: won against 10 players with titles and used the obtained title on the player license.

For this trophy you must win 10 matches in Quick Battle against different opponents, after defeating them you will obtain the title that was connected to them. Go into the Edit Player License screen and under Title you can view those titles in page 9-18 of your titles list. As long as you have 10 different titles earned from Quick Battle, just put one on, then exit back to the Astral Home so the game can save and give you your trophy.

Quick Battle: defeated Harada TEKKEN.

Harada TEKKEN is an advanced difficulty opponent in Quick Battle who uses the Devil Jin playstyle. The facial expression of the characters face looks also similar to that of Katsuhiro Harada the man behind Tekken. To find Harada TEKKEN, you want to set your search criteria to the following settings:

  • Area: Japan
  • Opponent Strength: Advanced
  • Battle Record Status: New Opponents First

http://i.imgur.com/rzpqVxY.png

After the search, keep refreshing by pressing :triangle: until you find Harada Tekken in the search results. Once you do, select him as your opponent and brace yourself.

http://i.imgur.com/DASbQnR.png

Fighting Harada TEKKEN (Devil Jin Style):

The Devil Jin Style is an exclusive style that can only be used by creating an original character in creation and giving them the style manually. The Devil Jin Style is very pressure heavy, if he catches you in his momentum you are as good as dead. However his pressure consists of high and mid attacks so going for crouching kicks to throw him off guard is a good way to poke him off of you. If you are using the Natsu tactic under Sudden Temptation then you can Space him out with the Wind Roll attack. Just be wary about running into the wall, which will prevent you from escaping his range, if that were to happen compose yourself and escape. A good way to get him to back off in later rounds is to throw out your Critical Edge.

Ranked Match: won 10 times with Ezio.

For this trophy you must win 10 times with Ezio Auditore in PlayStation®Network Ranked Matches. You can either use the boosting method described under First Step of a Legend or you can do it legitimately by learning Ezio a little bit. If you are doing the latter, here are some tips to bring you up to speed:

General Strategy

Using Ezio you want to be in your opponent's face. Ezio excels in close combat, however, the problem with Ezio is that he lacks variety so if your opponent were to block mid or high, they would probably block just about everything. The strategy with Ezio is to open them up through their doubts. Pokes such as http://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3http://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3 is a good basic attack to keep your opponent under pressure, throw in one of Ezio's low attacks such as http://bit.ly/1IcZtPahttp://bit.ly/1ljvX4J or http://bit.ly/1XnGM2ghttp://bit.ly/1ljvX4J and from there continue to pressure them. If you see your opponent trying to close in on Ezio moves such as http://bit.ly/1lGwKgRhttp://bit.ly/1lGwKgRhttp://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3 is a good way to punish hasty players.

Low Crossbow

The Crossbow is a fast project that can be used as a low or a mid aattack depending on the input. When you are pushed back from a distance and you are having a hard time to get back in, you can throw a Low Crossbow out to knock down the opponent and then use the recovery time on their wake up to get in on them. If they continue to Tech Roll forward, you can use the Crossbow to hit them again as they roll. The Low Crossbow also knocks down backward so if they're by a ledge of some sort, it will result in a easy ring out for you. The input for the is http://bit.ly/1IcZtPahttp://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3 + http://bit.ly/1ljvX4J.

Brave Edge Hit

Prioritising the damage on Ezio's hit confirms is important, it will add to the pressure on your opponent and is a good way of utilizing your Critical Gauge. Here is a list of moves that can use a Brave Edge off of:

  • http://bit.ly/1lGwKgRhttp://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3
  • http://bit.ly/1lGwKgRhttp://bit.ly/1lGwKgRhttp://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3http://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3

Legendary Souls: won with brave edge.

For this trophy you must defeat an opponent in Legendary Souls with a Brave Edge attack. To unlock Legendary Souls you must complete Story -1607 A.D- which shouldn't take too long anyway. Legendary Souls can be compared to Score Attack in Blazblue where the difficulty is a level higher then hard in Arcade, there are 7 stages in Legendary Souls and these are the opponents that it consist of (in order):

  1. Kilik
  2. Nightmare
  3. Siegfried
  4. Cervantes
  5. Edge Master
  6. Elysium
  7. Algol

Because of the difficulty of this mode you want to take care during the first fight against Kilik. First let's go over the Brave Edge moves you have, assuming you are following the suggestions under Sudden Temptation, here is a list of moves that go can into Brave Edge for both of the recommended characters:

http://i.imgur.com/ZyFkmbV.png Natsu:

  • Possession (PO)http://bit.ly/1IcZtPahttp://bit.ly/1XnGM2ghttp://bit.ly/1lGwH4Q
  • http://bit.ly/1SVwZlh+http://bit.ly/1PyJ0rj

http://i.imgur.com/hJbmqWy.png Mitsurugi:

  • http://bit.ly/1IcZtPahttp://bit.ly/1ljvX4J
  • http://bit.ly/1IcZtPahttp://bit.ly/1jhwC5Chttp://bit.ly/1lGwKgRhttp://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3
  • Mist (MST)

Check the Move List for various ways to go into the MST stance.

Strategy Against Kilik:

During this battle Kilik will only use the Xiba style (so in a sense it would be like facing Kilik from the older games...almost). Kilik is very aggressive and can convert the smallest pokes into big damage. Try not to over analyse this fight, keep it simple and punish him when you see an opening. Because of the damage he gets off of his high-mid moves it would be easy not to crouch unless he goes for a low attack, between the two you can eat a low hit or two. Kilik will utilize his Brave Edge when it is available which is another reason to play it safe.

This battle takes place on the Mt. Fuji the Holy: Hidden Dragon stage so again, be sure to utilize the edges for ring outs if you need to.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1016/D79.jpgPassionate Artist (B)

Creation: created a character with full-on coordination (used everything except for height).

During Creation you have a variety of options at your disposal when editing your character such as the following:

  • Body
  • Equipment
  • Weapon/Style
  • Colors/Patterns/Stickers
  • Shoot Picture
  • Edit Name

The trophy description can be very misleading, the only thing you are required to do for this trophy is to attach a single piece of clothing and a sticker on that piece of clothing and then Finish the Edit. Once you exit out from that edit, the trophy will unlock.

Creation: took a thumbnail by manually setting a decoration frame and background.

In the Creation menu, as mentioned above, one of the options is "Shoot Picture" where you create the thumbnail to your creation character. In the selections you will see Background and Foreground frame, simply set one of them and then take the picture of the thumbnail, save your character and your trophy should unlock along side Passionate Artist if you did that as well.

Please refer to "Soul Fulfilled" for more information.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1016/CB4.jpgSoul Fulfilled (S)

Player level reached maximum.

The maximum player level is 99. You earn player points throughout all modes of the game (except training and versus) so you will increase in level easily as you earn every other trophy of the game. However even after finishing them all it will not been enough. Here is how many points you will require to level up at each level range:

  • 01-09: 600
  • 10-19: 720
  • 20-34: 960
  • 35-59: 1200
  • 60-98: 1800

If you were to do the maths and add it all up, you are looking at 127,200 points required for this trophy. For easy points you can go about it in two different ways (Credit for both of these methods belong to Crimson4649):

Turbo Boosting/Easy Method:

With this method you will need a controller with a Turbo function. Before starting this go into your controller settings in the options and, assuming it is already set to default, switch the mapping between http://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3 and http://bit.ly/1PyJ0rj with each other. This is so that in battle the controller will use your characters http://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3 attack and then any menu pop ups for retry or rematch the arcade mode, the controller will select :cross:.

Now for this method, switch the difficulty to easy and select either Cervantes or Raphael (or a creation character with that style) on the standard route and put something on the :cross: of your turbo controller so that :cross: is constantly being inputted. During this time you could do whatever you want, homework, go to work, eat, sleep, browse PS3T, whatever it is you want to do and come back later with points practically handed to you.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TvI4Ntcics]SoulCalibur V Fast Leveling[/ame]

Without Turbo/Fast Method:

If you are without a controller with turbo, or are in just a rush to reaching level 99, here is the option for good points. During Quick Battle, select Aeon (or a Creation character with the Aeon style) and set Opponent Strength search criteria to Beginner and keep refreshing the search until you find "BloodyFrosty". Spam Aeon's Mezentius Style Grit Blast which is inputted with http://bit.ly/1lGwKgRhttp://bit.ly/1lGwKgRhttp://bit.ly/1ljvX4J for easy, fast ring outs. One match should take 30-40 real time seconds and the match itself gives you on average 115 points so if you were to do this for an hour straight, that's 11822 points.

Performed a wall hit 50 times.

To perform a wall hit, your opponents back must be facing almost next to a wall surface and you must hit them against the wall. Most http://bit.ly/1ljvX4J attacks should easily do wall hits and most throws do wall hits as well if right next to the wall. You can grind this out while you are playing your 240 quick battles. Against the Beginner level opponents, just use moves that cause a hard knock back for a wall hit. Assuming you are using the two recommended characters, here are a list of normals that cause a good hard knock back for a wall hit:

  • http://bit.ly/1lGwH4Q http://bit.ly/1ljvX4J

Additionally you can also use Siegfried and Nightmare to boost this. Offline against CPU opponents you can use Siegfrieds Thrust Hilt (http://bit.ly/1XnGM2ghttp://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3) if positioned with your back to the wall for an easy wall hit. If boosting this online (or even offline if you can push the opponent to the corner often) you can use Nightmare's Double Death Claw (http://bit.ly/1lGwH4Qhttp://bit.ly/1lGwH4Qhttp://bit.ly/1ljvX4J) which does two wall hits if successfully done (credit for this bit of information goes to Tohsaka Rin).

If you do not feel up to grinding this out in any of the offline modes, you can boost this with a partner online. If you are having trouble finding a partner please refer to the Trophy Boosting Thread. While boosting this be sure to select stages with tight walls enclosed on you such as Conqueror's Coliseum and Tower of Glory: Spiral of Good and Evil.

Performed 20 grapple breaks.

To perform a grapple break you must press the input used for the grab as you get grabbed, for example if your opponent uses http://bit.ly/1SVwZlh+http://bit.ly/1PyJ0rj for the grab, you must break it by pressing http://bit.ly/1SVwZlh and the same goes for http://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3. You can also break grabs even while guarding so long as you press the correct input, this may be a bit difficult in offline modes as it is very hard to tell when the opponent is going to grab you though during Beginner level Quick Battles if you just stand there the opponent usually walks up to you and just grabs you so you can use that to grind it out.

If you do not feel up to grinding this out in any of the offline modes, you can boost this with a partner online. If you are having trouble finding a partner please refer to the Trophy Boosting Thread.

Successfully performed a just guard 5 times.

To perform a just guard you must tap and release http://bit.ly/1PyJ0rj as you're getting attacked. The timing is really strict but the reward for pulling one off makes up for it greatly as the move removes any knock back from the attack and allows you counter attack the opponent. Trying to time this is very difficult so an easy way of grinding out this trophy is to simply repeatedly press http://bit.ly/1PyJ0rj (if you have a turbo controller set the turbo on for the button http://bit.ly/1PyJ0rj is mapped on, by default it is :cross:). Another easy of doing this is by P-linking (Piano/Priority Linking) your inputs for more frames for the just guard for by pressing http://bit.ly/1SVwZlh,http://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3,http://bit.ly/1PyJ0rj. If you are trying to grind this out in an offline mode try to do it against Intermediate level opponents as they have a better tendency to attack you with physical attacks opposed to Beginner level opponents grabbing you. For more information on just guarding please refer to this video by AvoidingthePuddle:

Successfully performed an impact 100 times.

An "impact" is a Guard Impact which is performed by pressing http://bit.ly/1lGwH4Qhttp://bit.ly/1SVwZlh+http://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3+http://bit.ly/1ljvX4J however it requires 2 stocks of your Critical Gauge. Instead of trying to build meter for this there are characters who do not require meter to perform a Guard Impact such as the following characters:

  • Patroklos

Most characters have an Auto guard impact, some however have different inputs, the characters listed above can use theirs by inputting http://bit.ly/1SVwZlh+http://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3. Just like with the just guards you can spam this against Intermediate difficulty opponents or grind it out online.

If you do not feel up to grinding this out in any of the offline modes, you can boost this with a partner online. If you are having trouble finding a partner please refer to the Trophy Boosting Thread.

K.O. with critical edge 30 times.

To perform a critical edge you must use up a full bar of meter from your Critical Gauge. To build the meter you must give or receive damage in battle, if your opponent is on the last round before winning the match your Critical Gauge will refill by one full meter. Critical Gauge inputs are the same for every character, it is down with the following input:http://bit.ly/1IcZtPahttp://bit.ly/1jhwC5Chttp://bit.ly/1lGwKgRhttp://bit.ly/1IcZtPahttp://bit.ly/1jhwC5Chttp://bit.ly/1lGwKgRhttp://bit.ly/1SVwZlh+http://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3+http://bit.ly/1ljvX4J.

Against most low level A.I's, CPU raw Critical Edge attacks will hit them however most of the time you want to hit confirm into it, on the off chance it does get blocked it would mean you wasted a bar of meter. Under each characters basic combos listed in there move list is a a hit confirm combo into there Critical Edge most of each consist of http://bit.ly/1jhwC5Chttp://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3 inputs.

Won by ring out 50 times.

To perform a ring out is almost the same as performing a wall hit but against a ledge within the stage. Against Beginner level A.I opponents this should be very easy to accomplish given you aim for it every now and then. For moves that can cause a ring out, refer to the inputs listed under Stalwart Barbarian, most if not all of the inputs under the description should be able to do a ring out as much as it can a wall hit.

If you do not feel up to grinding this out in any of the offline modes, you can boost this with a partner online. If you are having trouble finding a partner, please refer to the Trophy Boosting Thread. While boosting this be sure to select stages with no walls surrounding the stage such as Cavern of Light and Darkness and Astral Chaos.

Perfect won 50 times.

For this trophy you must obtain a Perfect victory 50 times, because you must win 3 rounds per match it is possible to obtain a perfect 3 times per match. Performing a ring out does not count as a perfect so you must delete your opponents life to 0. Playing through Quick Battle you should easily be able to obtain this using the Natsu method under Sudden Temptation.

If you do not feel up to grinding this out in any of the offline modes, you can boost this with a partner online. If you are having trouble finding a partner, please refer to the Trophy Boosting Thread.

Reached over 87,600 m in total movement distance in battle.

For this trophy you will have to reach a total distance of 87,600m in the game. Even while trying to obtain all the trophies for the game you may not unlock this after all is said and done. A good way to accumulate distance to go into Arcade mode in the Standard Route on Easy and wait until you see Hilde or Tira as your opponent, if you do not see them as your opponent, press :start: and select restart which will randomly reselect your opponent.

Once you have gotten Hilde or Tira as your opponent, take a rubber band or physical tool to set your joystick so that it is constantly on http://bit.ly/1lGwH4Q and making your character walk backwards. Afterwards simply leave the joystick there and go do something while it generates you distance however keep in mind you will have to press :cross: every 3 minutes to hit rematch for the time outs.

Landed brave edge 100 times.

To perform a brave edge you must use two stocks of your Critical Gauge to perform it. Brave Edge attacks can only be performed after using certain normals, a successful brave edge attack will glow a yellow trial and if it hits will leave a yellow static on the opponent. All brave edge attacks are done by pressing http://bit.ly/1SVwZlh+http://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3+http://bit.ly/1ljvX4J after specific inputs. You can view the possible brave edge attacks in the character move list in the menu under Edge Attacks.

K.O. the opponent 25 times with an attack after a quick move.

A quick move is an attack that is used by pressing http://bit.ly/1IcZtPahttp://bit.ly/1IcZtPa or http://bit.ly/1QFszPhhttp://bit.ly/1QFszPh. For example, Leixia's Playful Slice is performed with http://bit.ly/1IcZtPahttp://bit.ly/1IcZtPa or http://bit.ly/1QFszPhhttp://bit.ly/1QFszPhhttp://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3 and is a quick move. Check your characters move list and most if not all of them should have a move just like this. K.O an opponent 25 times using in this matter for the trophy.

Landed an attack 20,000 times.

For this trophy you must land an attack a total of 20,000 times, if for some reason you do not unlock this while getting all other trophies you have two options.

Similar to the Easy Player Point for Soul Fulfilled you can turn the turbo on your controller and let it run through Arcade mode for you getting roughly 3 hits per normal attack. Let this run overnight and overtime it should get you the trophy in no time.

The other option is to use Voldo and spam his http://bit.ly/1SVwZlh+http://bit.ly/1Pj4JD3 grab which spins his claws into the opponent for 6 hits, repeat this until you have obtained the trophy.

Guard bursted 30 times.

The Guard Gauge is hidden gauge that gets depleted everytime an attack is blocked, the heavier/stronger the attack the more damage it does to the hidden gauge. As a character blocks a certain amount of attacks the health gauge at the top of the HUD will begin to flash yellow and eventually red, once the character hits a couple more hits as it is red the character will go into a guard break animation where the screen will flash green an the character in question will be vulnerable for 60 frames after the flash animation.

A fast way of breaking an opponents Guard Gauge is to use Break Attacks. To identify Break Attacks look for the BA symbol throughout the Most list of your character.

Changed the BGM in options.

In the options screen highlight "Stage Select Settings" here you will be redirected to a list of character BGMs and stages. For the trophy you are setting the default BGM for each stage for versus and for select during online play. Simply scroll up to the BGM of your choice and press :cross:. Providing it is different from the original afterwards back out to the Astral Home so the game can save and your trophy will unlock.

Set, your first post on this board was on difficulty after I already put up the guide. I was told by a mod to post in the Guide group, I did and no one replied. Knowing I made the guide & it was my first time, why did you still post it? I like your guides, but dude, respect goes a long way. It seems underhanded and you're not the only gamer in the world. How are others going to want to get involved when you might be writing one up to pwn them like you just did to me? You want to take all the credit for every guide? Seriously let others have a fair shot and maybe ASSIST them. I mean, my methods were already on the board before you even posted your fist post, so how do I know you didn't just copy some of them? I'm not saying you did, I respected your guides, but I feel disrespected by someone with an ego.:(

Stop being Triple H and let the newbs have a shot is all I'm just saying...

You saw I was working on the guide, why didn't you tell me you were trying to outdo me? Mine is sticky already, and my first. I worked really hard on that guide and thought it would be nice for some fresh ideas as well. Most of those methods were already in my guide

Persona,

Please stop posting this in this thread. Anyone is free to challenge a guide. That is in the FAQ and is the nature of the system here. If we decide Setsuna's is a better fit it could possibly replace yours. Again all that info is in the FAQ so you're aware it could happen. Don't post in this thread again regarding this issue.

I am only unsure on one thing in this guide otherwise it is really well done and that is having difficulty listed as something that affects the Skills for Duels trophy but that just requires Legendary Souls and difficulty isn't an option for that mode.

I listed Legendary Souls under it because you can't alter it to be an easier difficulty and to my knowledge it might as well be a level upon hard, if you're still unsure of it I can make the change to it.

snip 1 & 2

Persona I'm sorry your hard work has probably gone in vein however I didn't want to tell you "Oh you should stop because I'm making one" because I wanted to see how you would present the guide because for all I know you or anyone could produce a better guide but I wouldn't know if I didn't let you have a chance so I sat to the side for a while to see how another person would do while gathering information on my own while playing the game on my side.

Though despite what I might say (like a month or two ago when I said I wouldnt be working on SCV somewhere) it should be almost expected of me to be going most major fighting game guides and I usually like to have them out early but with SCV anf XIII-2 out on the same day and me busy with work and helping a friend with an event this weekend it came out a bit longer than expected (actually it shouldn't even be up now ... my Tuesday can never be given back to me now :p)

If you want to talk to me about it please do so in PMs. Again I'm sorry and I don't mean to "show off" in any matter.

A good note for quick battles don't shutdown ps3 after u won always go back 2 main menu cuz there it saves.

& awesum guide setsuna as always XD

Will add that note, it would be bad for someone to beat an A rank and forget to save it :p
