Introduction:

Welcome to Sonic the Fighters HD! Once a cult fighting game in 90s arcades, to a feature in the Sonic Gems Collection on Playstation 2 and now owner of a well-deserved and long-overdue HD revamp. Most of the Sonic the Hedgehog fan base may not know this game. However, upon delivering this fighting gem to a new generation of gaming, Sonic the Fighters, with its simple but enjoyable fighting system, will get the recognition it deserves.

The trophies in Sonic the Fighters HD are terribly easy. For fighting game veterans, it should only take 15 minutes, possibly even less. All are straightforward and well over half are earned by simply completing Arcade mode casually. The trophies can be made even easier if you have a second controller to boost offline, however if you don’t, there’s no need to fret - it is still easily doable.

Before we start - The Controls:

The controls are a little bit different in Sonic the Fighters compared to other fighting games. Please grow acquainted with the following match-ups before you begin:

:cross: / :triangle: = Combination punch (press repeatedly to initiate a three-hit combo)

:square: = Barrier block

:circle: = Combination kick (press repeatedly to initiate a three-hit combo)

:l1: = Throw

:l2: = Sidestep

:r2: = Alternate kick

Walkthrough:

I - Arcade Mode with Honey the Cat

Anyone who has played this game previously should know of the secret character once hidden in the game’s coding, discovered by hackers about a decade ago; Honey the Cat. Now that she is finally playable legitimately, choose her at character select to instantly earn "Honey the Cat". Now proceed to complete the stages of Arcade mode, earning the respective stage trophies in the process. You may earn the miscellaneous trophies by chance as well, however if you do not, you can earn them in the second step.

You will definitely unlock the following after this step:

(S) Honey the Cat

(B) Stage 1 Complete

(B) Stage 2 Complete

(B) Stage 3 Complete

(B) Stage 4 Complete

(B) Stage 5 Complete

(B) Stage 6 Complete

(B) Stage 7 Complete

II - Clean Up

There should only be four trophies left to earn at this point. Three of the four can be earned in Offline Versus Mode, and the methods for doing so are all detailed in their respective trophy descriptions. "Perfect" could be considered the hardest trophy of the list, however with the correct strategy and the easiest difficulty, it should come with absolute ease. After completion of this step, you will have your 100%. You're aiming for the following trophies:

(G) Perfect

(S) Barrier Destroyer

(S) A Small Transformation

(S) The Enemy Within

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/1826/4A0.jpg Perfect (G)

Win a round without receiving any damage in Arcade Mode (any difficulty)

Note that, unlike the other miscellaneous trophies in Sonic the Fighters HD, this can only be earned in Arcade Mode, and cannot be boosted in Offline Versus Mode.

This could be considered the hardest trophy of the list, however with the strategy supplied below the difficulty can be eased. A 'Perfect' is fighting game lingo for completing a round within a match, or the match in its entirety, without any damage being done to the player.

Using Fang's popgun move (:cross: :cross: :cross: in rapid succession) along with keeping a distance between you and the opponent, a Perfect can be attained easily, thus fulfilling the trophy’s requirements. Also, to make this easier, set the game to the easiest difficulty, so that opponents scarcely attack the player. Alternatively, in the earlier stages of Arcade, spamming :r2: with Amy can finish the round with a Perfect within ten seconds.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/1826/B7F.jpg Barrier Destroyer (S)

Destroy all of an opponent's barriers while playing Arcade Mode or Offline Versus

You may notice in your Arcade Mode run that you have a bar at the bottom left of the screen titled ‘BARRIER’. Barrier is basically the blocking system of Sonic the Fighters. However, you and the opponent have a limited amount of blocks to use during battle and when it runs out, you or the opponent cannot block anymore, meaning you are at a great disadvantage. All you need to do for this trophy is empty your opponent’s barrier meter once during any match. Using strong moves on your opponent whilst their Barrier is up (such as :r2:) will break it.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/1826/4E7.jpg A Small Transformation (S)

Turn small by being attacked (i.e, by Amy's↓+P, etc) in Arcade Mode or Offline Versus

Multiple characters in Sonic the Fighters HD have moves which temporarily reduce the opponent’s size, leaving them vulnerable. One such example is even in the trophy’s description - Amy’s Magical Hammer move (http://i.imgur.com/qfemRpX.png + :triangle: ). Have the second controller in Offline Versus use this on your character, and if done correctly, your character will shrink, unlocking the trophy. This is also possible in Arcade Mode.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/1826/6E1.jpg Honey the Cat (S)

Use Honey the Cat in Arcade Mode or Offline Versus (Press START button on Amy and select)

If you follow the roadmap, you shall earn this trophy in your Arcade Mode run. Hover over Amy in the character select screen and press :start:. A '???' sign will cover Amy's name, then press :cross: to confirm the character. When you enter the first round of Arcade, the trophy will unlock.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/1826/17D.jpg The Enemy Within (S)

Fight a mirror match in Arcade Mode or Offline Versus

A mirror match is basically fighting a match where the opponent is the same character as yourself. This is most easily attained in Offline Versus Mode with two controllers. Turn the second controller on and choose the same character for both at character select (choice is irrelevant). The trophy should unlock upon entering the match. However, if you want to earn this trophy during Arcade, choose Knuckles instead of Honey at character select and you will earn the trophy in the first round.

Looks great MsFuruba, but I can't seem to shake one feeling that "Hollow_Ichigo" went to do it first and tried to rush it, but at least you have crafty skills instead, lol. :3

Also, Hello! :3

well i'm sorry my first guide wasn't perfect and had no banner, I did not rush it at all i took my time to create it but it being my first guide there was sure to be some mistakes I don't think its very kind to talk about my guide in some other persons you could have just messaged me if you feel there was a problem with the format or anything else, anyways to MsFuruba nice guide i wonder which one will the site use as the official guide? good luck :)

I think your guide is very good!! Especially for a first-time guide writer too :) And thank you, we can only wait and see for the GT's results!!

Good guide, yet to play this (since these are always on sale later...) but it truly seems a 1 based on time and difficulty.

Maybe the guys making these have realized the true power of easy trophies.

 Easy trophies hold the ultimate power ~ :p

I'd say all three games in the Model 2 Collection are a 1/10 even though Fighting Vipers has a trophy or two which have some tricky inputs.

Regardless, thank you :3

Well excuse me and sorry for invading your personal space, but at least since it was your 1st time doing something like this, I'll let it slide, both are great, so I have no qualms over it, good luck whoever submits it. :drunk:
