Introduction:
Sonic Adventure was originally released in late 1998 for the Sega Dreamcast system. It has gone through a few iterations and ports over the years, and it now has landed on PSN. There are seven different characters to choose from and the trophies span a wide mix of tasks: story completion, trials, mini-games and Chao races. If you have played a 3D Sonic game before, you will know what to expect. If not, welcome!

Please Note: Unless you know for sure that you can get 100% in the core game, I recommend that you wait to buy the Sonic Adventure DX DLC until you have completed all the trophies for the core game. Unlike other games, the only way to access the DX DLC content is to acquire all 130 emblems in the core game (essentially getting all the trophies). That can be time-consuming and if you arenít up to the task, you will have wasted your money on DLC content that will never be played.

Step 1: Complete Each Character Story in Adventure Mode
Start with the Sonic storyline and play through it to completion. You will unlock the other characters (Tails, Knuckles, Amy, E-102 and Big) along the way. Each of these characters has their own unique story that overlaps the othersí. Once all six character stories are complete, the Super Sonic story will be unlocked and you will need to complete that to actually ďfinishĒ the game.

Once you unlock a character, you can leave the story youíre on and start the new characterís story if you like. You can even unlock the other characters from within a non-Sonic story. So in the end, it doesnít really matter which order you do them in, but I suggest doing each in order, straight through without switching. Otherwise it gets too confusing.

This step will unlock all the story-related trophies, which should only take around 10-12 hours. You will acquire 44 emblems by completing this step.

Sometimes it can be hard to figure out where to go and find the upgrades, so here is an excellent walkthrough, courtesy of JasonKHowell:

http://faqs.ign.com/articles/453/453821p1.html

IMPORTANT: Make sure you get all character upgrades now, youíll need them later.

Step 2: Collect the Adventure Field Emblems
If you havenít already gotten these in your story playthroughs, finish them here. There are 12 Adventure Field emblems, 4 each in Station Square, Mystic Ruins and Egg Carrier. Some require specific characters with specific power ups, so I recommend not worrying about them until youíve finished the main game, but they are easy to get if you really want to look for them during Step 1.

Step 3: Collect the Sub-Game Emblems
After you complete a sub-game in the main story, it will unlock in Trial mode. There are 5 sub-games in which you can get an additional emblem in Trial mode (or replaying the sub-game in the Adventure Field). Sand Hill is the only one that is difficult.

Step 4: Collect the Level A / Chao Emblems
This is the most time consuming part of this game. I recommend you start working on your Chao while you work on all the trial emblems to help break up the monotony of each task. If you have followed the roadmap so far, you should have at least 61 emblems. The remaining 69 will be acquired in this step.

There are 64 emblems to acquire by beating two different trials (B and A ranks) for every action stage for every character (32 unique stages). The vast majority of the trials are fairly easy and should only take one or two tries to complete. A select few take some extra work (see trophy guide for notes on these). Expect to spend about 5-10 hours on this; it will vary depending on how quickly you pick up the mechanics of each character (or if youíve already played it before).

The 5 Chao emblems can be very tedious, as you will need to raise the stats of your Chao to around 800-1000 each in order to win the 5 races. This involves considerable ring farming through level replays or special glitches in order to buy Chao Fruit or earn animals that can boost stats. Expect to spend 10+ hours on this if you donít plan accordingly.

Emblem Trophies
These trophies are for acquiring the 130 emblems in the various modes of the game.

The Adventurer
Get all Emblems in the Adventure Field

[12 emblems]

There are 4 emblems in each of the Adventure Fields, just waiting for you to grab them:

- Station Square
- Mystic Ruins
- Egg Carrier

Please see the video below, courtesy of MoombaB, for the locations of each emblem and the recommended characters. Note that there are two emblems in the Egg Carrier that you cannot get unless you first extend the wings of the ship. These are #10 and #11 in the video.

Sub Game Master
Get all Emblems of the Sub Games

[10 emblems]

Youíll get 5 of these emblems by playing through all charactersí stories and completing the sub games listed below for the first time. The other 5 you get by replaying them in Trial mode:

- Sky Chase Act I Ė Get 8000 Points (easy)
- Sky Chase Act II Ė Get 20000 Points (medium)
- Sand Hill Ė Get 10000 Points (hard)
- Twinkle Circuit Ė Beat 10:00:00 or your previous score (very easy)
- Hedgehog Hammer Ė Beat your previous high score (easy)

Sub Game Tips:

Sky Chase
Make sure you use lock-on to destroy the enemies, donít even bother with normal shooting. Hold and move the cross-hair around the screen to lock on to as many enemies as possible at the same time, then release to fire upon them. Do this for every group of enemies you see. For Act II, itís important to get as many of the fireballs / fixed guns on the Egg Carrier as you can, for they give you the most points. It may take a few tries to clear Act II.

Hedgehog Hammer
Donít get carried away the first time you play this game during Amyís storyline. You only have to beat 2000 to complete it in Story mode, so donít go much higher than that the first time, because you will have to beat your score again to get the second emblem. I went nuts the first time and got 4000, which took me a few tries to beat later.

Sand Hill
You can use either Sonic or Tails, but I didnít find one easier than the other, so pick whomever you like. The more rings you pass through in a row, the higher the multiplier for each subsequent ring. If you donít pass through a ring within a few seconds, you lose your multiplier. You will need to get around a 30x multiplier in order to get 10000 points. This one comes down to memorization, so donít get discouraged if you have to replay it 15-20 times. Once you know your route, itís just a matter of getting through it without making a mistake.

If you get a 25x or so multiplier and lose it, donít quit Ė you could still make 10000 points if you donít make any further mistakes. If you lose your multiplier at least twice, you might as well quit and try it again from the beginning.

Here is a video with a good route to use if you are having trouble finding your own, courtesy of Cackman:

The Fastest & Strongest
Get Level A on all the Action Stages

[96 emblems]

There are 32 action stages total and there are different Mission requirements for each stageís trial: Missions C, B and A. Mission C is what you complete during Story mode. You canít attempt a Mission B until C is complete, nor A until B is complete.

If youíve completed the storyline, you will already have the 32 Mission C emblems, leaving 64 for Missions A and B. They will take 5-10 hours depending on your skill level. Donít attempt these until you have all the upgrades for every character. If you followed the walkthrough linked in the story-related trophies, you should already have them. If not, check the Upgrade section of that walkthrough:

http://faqs.ign.com/articles/453/453821p1.html

Here are the emblem counts for each character:

Sonic = 30
Tails = 15
Knuckles = 15
Amy = 9
E-102 = 15
Big = 12

Since the explanation for all the missions is quite lengthy, theyíve been posted in a separate thread. Please check here for in-depth detail and discussion on this trophy:

Chao's Best Friend
Get all Emblems of the Chao Race

[5 emblems]

This part of the game can be very time-consuming and tedious, depending on how you go about it. It can take anywhere from 5-10 hours.

There are five Chao races you need to win, each with two circuits: Beginner and Jewel. You have to win all the Beginner races before Jewel unlocks. You only get an emblem for completing each Jewel race.

Now, raising Chao can get quite complicated, and there are numerous guides out there describing all the varieties of Chao and various clever and esoteric ways you can breed them. As far as the race emblems are concerned, you don't need to bother with that. You just want to boost your Chao's stats as fast as possible, regardless of Chao type.

You access Chao in the Adventure Field. Use the Chao Garden that's in Station Square (left elevator in the hotel lobby). There will be eggs in there already when the game starts. Just play the game and let them hatch on their own.

[Chao Stats and Animals]
There are five stats to boost. When you play action stages, you can pick up animals after you defeat an enemy. The last 10 animals you get appear in the Chao Garden next time you go there (they will not appear if you complete the stage in Trial Mode). You can pick them up and go to your Chao, who will take it and get their stats boosted. Certain stages give certain animals that boost certain stats. The color listed here is the background color of tile you see when you grab the animal:

Swim = Yellow = Emerald Coast
Fly = Purple = Windy Valley
Run = Green = Speed Highway
Power = Red = Red Mountain

There are also some blue animals that appear in some stages and will always raise stats, but the stats are random each time. These are always safe to give to your Chao:

Skunk = Hot Shelter
Mole = Windy Valley
Koala = Emerald Coast

Some of the ones above will occasionally drop other stats Ė this is okay as it won't drop you below whatever current level you have for that stat, it will just drop the progress toward the next level (i.e. your stat number will not decrease).

[Feeding Chao]
Regularly visit your Chao in between levels in the Adventure field, and make sure you feed them every once in a while. There are fruits in the Chao Garden you can use (knock them off trees by grabbing the tree with and holding on the ), but these will only boost Stamina. To feed, just pick up a fruit and hold it in front of the Chao. It will take it and begin to eat. Note that you can overfeed your Chao, so if it throws the food away or looks sick, refrain from feeding it for a while.

The best food to feed them is Chao Fruit, which you can buy in the Black Market in the Station Square garden. Each one costs 200 rings. This fruit is good because it raises all stats equally, albeit slowly.

On occasion the Chao Fruit will disappear from the Market. If thatís the case, just finish some stages and check back later. It will eventually reappear.

[Ring Farming]
You may need to farm rings if you want to buy a lot of Chao Fruit. There are two ways you can do this. Using the Knuckles trick or playing action stages as Sonic. I prefer the action stage method, as it's faster, you can farm animals for your Chao at the same time, and you wonít waste as much time if you screw up.

Action Stages as Sonic
Merely play action stages as Sonic over and over again, making sure not to get hit so you end up with a good amount of rings. Play different stages if youíre trying to farm specific animals.

If you just want rings, play Emerald Coast. Don't worry about the time, just grab as many rings as possible and don't get hit (not a problem since this is the easiest level). I averaged around 400-450 in about 4:30 each time, so around 100 rings a minute.

The Knuckles Trick
Play Adventure Mode with Knuckles. Go around and dig in the ground somewhere ( + ). You will get random items from digging: rings, extra lives, power ups, etc. Youíre looking for the electricity shield (not the normal shield) because this will attract nearby rings. Keep digging until you find it (it may take anywhere from a minute to 15 minutes).

Once you have it, go back to the Station Square hotel lobby (where the Chao elevator is). Take the staircase and stand on the rightmost switch. A trail of rings appears in the air. If you just stand on the switch, it will absorb the closest ring, which will respawn infinitely. Just stand there and rack up as many rings as you want. It takes close to 15 minutes to get 1000 rings, so around 65 rings a minute. The counter wonít go over 999, but anything over that will count, donít worry.

You can let the game just run and do something else, but if you do nothing for around 10 minutes, the PS3 wireless controllers will automatically disconnect and pause the game (even if charging), so you will occasionally have to check it and un-pause the game.

When you have the amount you want, youíll need to finish an action stage for it to actually save your rings so Sonic can use them (to buy stuff for Chao). I generally did Speed Highway, which you can find where you fight Chaos 0 at the very beginning of the game. Complete the level and all your rings will be saved. JUST MAKE SURE YOU DONíT GET HIT WHILE PLAYING THE LEVEL. You will lose ALL your rings if you get hit. That is the risky part and you will have wasted all that time farming if you get hit trying to finish the stage.

[Racing Chao]
There are two different circuits (Beginner and Jewel), each with five different races that require certain stats to win:

Pearl = Power, Run
Amethyst = Fly, Run
Sapphire = Power, Swim
Ruby = Swim
Emerald = All around

For Beginner, Emerald will not unlock until you've beaten the previous four. To win a Beginner race you generally need the noted stats in the list above in the range of 300-400.

Once Beginner is complete, the Jewel circuit will unlock. For these, you need to have stats around 900-1100 to win. I recommend a mix of occasional Chao Fruit and frequent animals to boost whatever stat you need for that race. Animals are definitely the quickest way to boost, so focus on the ones you need and knock off each race one by one. You donít necessarily need to have a balanced Chao to win each race.

While racing, you can switch between Chao by using and on the d-pad. You can boost your Chao by pressing any button (, , , ) when thereís a sparkle around your Chao. This doesnít happen often, so really thereís not much for you to do during the race. If you arenít doing well to begin with, a boost isnít going to make a difference. You have to place in first to win a race. No points for second place.

On the Jewel circuit, make sure you save the Emerald race for last. If you beat it prior to the others, a powerful black Chao will appear and win the other races regularly, making them a bit harder to complete. This happened to me and I had to boost my Power to 1100+ in order to win the Pearl race.

The Perfect Adventurer
Get 130 Emblems

This essentially works just like a Platinum trophy. It will unlock when you get all other trophies in the game (which is equivalent to getting 130 emblems).

I don't have the DLC trophies yet and there are already two decent DLC guides up, so I decided not to do it.

I'm surprised that you call Sky Chase Act 1 easy. I've tried lots of times but I can't seem to get a score higher than 7000. I'm shooting as many turrets and planes as I can see but my score never gets high enough.
