Finish a game at Genius difficulty

See Absolute Genius trophy below.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1090/919.jpg Absolute Genius (G)

Finish all Free Play Games at Genius difficulty

You first must unlock all free play games. This will be accomplished by the time you have the Graduate trophy. Next you will have to unlock Genius difficulty for all games. There are two ways to do this. The first way is to earn three stars on each game starting with easy and working your way up each difficulty. The second way is to play each difficulty on five different dates. After the fifth day no matter what the star rating is, you will automatically unlock the next difficulty. Do this until genius is unlocked for each game. After you unlock genius difficulty for each of the 20 games, play each game on this difficulty and the trophy will unlock. You do not have to earn stars for it to count.

You can also do the five day method while working toward the Perfect Attendance trophy.

You must have unlocked all free play games in order to get this trophy. You unlock free play games by playing the Daily Training. All free play games should be unlocked by the time you receive the Graduate trophy. Click on the die on the right hand side of the main menu to access the free play games. Earning stars does not matter, but you must reach the results screen for each of the 20 games. Play all the games at the same difficulty level. After you have played all of the games, the trophy will unlock.

Earn 3 stars in a game at Genius difficulty

You might be able to get this naturally if you favor a certain game, but if you are having trouble, here are some tips for a few of the games. Genius difficulty for games can be played in the free play area of the game.

  • Word Wheel - use the cheat found here. Type in the letters as you see them on the screen.
  • Lost Letter - use the cheat found here. Enter the letters and use ? for the missing letters.
  • Sum Sequence - put the numbers in a calculator as they come across the screen.
  • You can make the observation games easier if you have other people with you to help.

Note: You only have to get three stars on ONE of the games so if one game is proving too difficult try your luck on a different one.

See Absolute Genius for tips on how to unlock difficulties.

From the main menu click on the Globe in the top right corner of the screen. The game will search for challenges in your area. Click on a city and a 3 part challenge will start. One game will be on easy, one on medium, and one on hard. Challenges will reset once a week. You can earn up to 9 stars in each city each week. You can earn stars in any city you come across that has a challenge available. This trophy can take the longest time if you only have one city near you for the challenge. It can several months depending on skill and amount of cities available for challenges.

Here is a tip from Rhasget that makes getting stars faster. It might take up for a few hours for Skyhook to change your location.

To boost stars I tried registering my router with Skyhook wireless in a different town and it worked.

This morning I was at 53 stars and it took me roughly two hours to boost the remaining ones.

I registered my router with Skyhook, started the vita (wich was completely turned off, not in sleep mode), started Near to see my location and then started Smart As. Made sure I updated my score after the challenge was done.

The I powered off the Vita, registered my router to a new city with Skyhook and started up the Vita.

Rince, repeat til I was done.

Thanks for the tip on Absolute Genius :), I thought I could never get it :(

Holy crap, thanks for that tip as well. Was not able to unlock genius difficulty on a few of those games after trying for hours.

You are welcome. I knew there was some trick to unlocking the next event. I knew it had to do with how many times an event was played and was finally able to figure out it had to do with the number of days.

Not sure if anyone reads this forum anymore but I have a question on the "Absolute Genius" trophy. It says in the roadmap that "The second way is to play each difficulty on five different dates. After the fifth day no matter what the star rating is, you will automatically unlock the next difficulty." Does this mean you have to play ALL the free games or can it just be the arithmetic ones for five days and then let's say move on to the logic ones for five days to unlock those difficulties? Thanks for the help. Nice guide, by the way. Very useful.

Edit: NVM, figured it out. You don't have to do all free games to unlock the next difficulty. It can just be one category.

Any idea on how close the cities have to be? Or what cities have the challenges available (specifically, in Alberta). I'm in Calgary, but there's a smaller city (Red Deer) about 150k (<100miles) away - would I be able to access challenges from each city?

The closest city to me that I can get is 80 miles away. It has a population of 70,000. There isn't a list of cities that have challenges that I have found. If you were in Red Deer and it had a challenge you should be able to access it.

I see why you gave it 5/10 , yeah with that trick on unlocking genius difficulty I would even give it a 2 xD , well I guess I suffered alone :( anyways , I still can't find any challenges online so this platinum is impossible for me as I live in a dead city in middle east

I did rate it a 2! (; I updated the guide with a tip from a user in the forum. Try and see if it helps you out. Good luck.

Does that method still work? From their webpage:

Note: User submitted data is processed immediately by Skyhook. For most devices, this will mean you should immediately see the difference in your location. If you are moving an existing access point in our system, it may take up to 7 days for the new location to take effect on the device. Depending on the update frequency of our partners, data entered here can take up to 7 days to be included in their results.

Sounds like the first change would happen right away (so Duck could at least be somewhere to get challenges), but anything after that would take the 7 days anyway (so if you're trying to cut down on time, it could cut it in half at best).

Not alone! I did it without the failing trick (although I did unlock several games by failing, I eventually 3 starred them).

how do you get your router to reset to normal when you're done? I'm on the same network as my whole family and I doubt it'd be a good idea to mess around with skyhook on the router if I don't know how to reset it... (I'm up nights a lot, so I can do it when the other don't use it, but I need it back to normal when they get up:P)

You just put the city you live in and you can even place a marker on a map of your exact location.

for some reason skyhook keeps saying the location does not seem correct. It says this in the field where I enter my MAC adress. I have used skyhook before on my vita but it keeps saying that...

I tried different locations on the map and the MAC adresses from my router, repeater and the vita itself... non of them work... what am I doing wrong here?

It might just be a problem with skyhook. Did you try following the link that they provide to help with the MAC address? If not you might want to try that to make sure you are using the right address.

I unlocked every genius games the harsh way but cant seem to get over the "boxed in" on hard mode... I dont understand the five days tip though... I need to play only this game and difficulty or do I have to play other games too?

Play boxed in to completion on hard. It doesn't matter how many stars you get. Advance the day on the vita and repeat 5 times. After the 5th "day" then genius difficulty for boxed in will unlock. Hope this helps.
