Introduction

 

Sly is back for round three with his gang members; Murray and Bentley. This will be their biggest Heist so far. They will have to get to the Cooper vault located on Dr. M's island. They will not be able to do it alone. This will be their first time recruiting members to help with Sly and the gang's quest to get to the Cooper vault. You will go from episode to episode recruiting members and making friends, defeating bosses and learning new techniques. In this game you will be able to pickpocket thugs and obtain rare items, without selling the items on the ThiefNet for coins. Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves is linear free roam within each episode, giving you the option to roam around and lurk, as well as collect coins and cause mischief.

Step 1: Story Mode

 

Play the story (episodes one through six) only purchasing abilities specifically needed for story progression (i.e. paraglider). Do not buy any other abilities until you have obtained the Loot trophy.

 

Eighty percent of the trophies will come from playing the story alone. See the Loot trophy for more information on how to collect alot of coins fast. You will need to purchase certain abilities to progress through the game so be mindful about how many coins you have and spend in certain episodes. Please see step 1.5 before purchasing any trophy-related gadget/power except the paraglider.

 

 

Step 1.5: Optional Purchasing Glitch

 

A method for purchasing power ups/gadgets without losing money. Play the game straight to the end, buying only the necessary power ups/gadgets that are required for each mission. (You will get a message on your screen when there is a gadget/power up that is required for a specific mission.) Load up an older episode (maybe episode 7). Proceed to purchase the specific item until you have no more money, then exit to the XMB (Not to the main menu of the game). Load up the game, rinse and repeat until you obtain the trophies associated with the power up/gadget. Thanks for the tip king_of_kickz.

 

 

Step 2: Jobs and Challenges Cleanup

 

After beating the game go back to each episode completing the jobs & Challenges associated with each episode. See 100% Pure Cooper on which episodes you will need to complete and a youtube link to show you how to complete each challenge. You need to complete episode 5 before you can complete the treasure hunt challenges. The treasure hunt challenges are required to achieve 100% Pure Cooper.

Meet the Guru

 

Mission related, cannot be missed. Acquired in Episode Two.

 

You will have to look in 2 different locations before you find out that he is locked away. Once you get to the Guru and talk to him about the problem that is going on in Episode 2 (Murray wanting to take a break from his training) you will earn this trophy.

 

 

06.jpg  Scorpion Cleaner (B)

Dump off the truckload of scorpions

 

Mission related, cannot be missed. Acquired in Episode Two.

 

You will get this trophy in Episode 2: Rumble Down Under. You get access to a truck, that you will need to collect scorpions. Collect them and drop them off to obtain this trophy. You will need to collect only red scorpions. After you have collect a few Sly will need to climb up a little higher, making the drill go deeper and draining the water, which makes your wheels heat up faster. Run over blue scorpions to cool down your wheels. Red ones cool down the wheels faster, so you can run over a few of them until you get you meter low enough. Once you have collected 20 you will have enough to let loose on the guards.

 

 

07.jpg  True Friendship (B)

Slow down Dr. M as Bentley and Murray

 

Mission related, cannot be missed. Acquired in Episode Six.

 

This is a two part fight. You start off as Murray. Murray has to fight off a few thugs that enter the vault. Fighting them off and ending the fight will lead Dr.M into the fight, leaving Bentley to continue the fight while Murray and Dr.M are in a struggle.

 

Bentley will have to grab discs (marked by beacons) and put them on Dr.M's back. After you grab the second one, more of Dr.M's goons will show up; use the grapple cam to finish them off. After all four are on his back, the battle will be over and the trophy will be yours.

 

 

08.jpg  Romantic Boat Ride (B)

Complete the canal boat chase in Venice

 

Mission related, cannot be missed. Acquired in Episode One.

 

Bentley will rig a boat for you to chase down some thugs, shooting down the thugs will grant you this trophy.

 

 

09.jpg  It's Halloween (B)

Defeat mask-powered Carmelita

 

Mission related, cannot be missed. Acquired in Episode Two.

 

1. You will first start by shooting sleep darts with Bentley. After finding out it's not working and she is just getting bigger, you stop and run to the truck.

2. You are then in the truck, you will have to use the 10,000 machine that is equipped on the truck to throw barrels at Carmelita, her health will drop but it's still not over.

3. You are Sly again. You have to get close to her, climb up her leg and have her knock the mask off her face. You have to climb each leg to get to each ear in order for her to knock the mask off. Just be quick about it. Go for the left leg first.

4. After the mask is off her police friends will handle the rest.

 

 

10.jpg  I Think She Likes You (B)

Ask Penelope for help

 

Mission related, cannot be missed. Acquired in Episode Three.

 

After your mini fight with Muggshot and testing the new defense system in the hangar, you will meet Penelope. You will get to use her AC chopper to take out some thugs and tanks. You will use the chopper to grab a thug and yank him into the air; some thugs will take a few yanks, but they will go flying.

Finish the bar room brawl

 

Mission related, cannot be missed. Acquired in Episode Two.

 

After the drinking game with the gang, a fight breaks out when one of the thugs call Bentley a cheater. Finish the fight for this trophy. At this time collect as many coins as you can. Break every breakable that you see; chairs and glass bottles.

Stop the vampires

 

Mission related, cannot be missed. Acquired in Episode Four.

 

There will be a mission where you will have to take out some vampires in Episode 4. The mission is called Vampiric Demise. You will have to use Panda King and his rockets to destroy a big headstone that the Vampires are coming out of. Before you can destroy the headstone you will need to protect Sly while he opens a few safes so you can collect the big rockets. After you have collected enough, you will head to the headstone to destroy it while fighting off vampires. The headstone will take a few full meter hits.

 

 

13.jpg  Hug It Out (B)

Complete Dynamic Duo

 

Mission related, cannot be missed. Acquired in Episode Five.

 

This is a mission with Penelope and Bentley. After you have collected the seven pieces to Penelope's spectrometer disc, you will learn of the location on the map. Once you find your way to the skull and take out the guards that are outside walking around, you will go inside to find out the chest is covered with deathtraps. Bentley leaves to get Penelope's spanners from the safe house. Penelope doesn't wait and continues to open the chest and gets sprayed with some blinding dust in her eyes.

 

Bentley will have to guide Penelope back with the Grapple Cam that he outfitted with a new gun from her RC car. While guiding her back you will have to shoot down a bridge and you may have to take out any guards that may try to harm her. Once you bring her back there could be a love connection waiting.

I would advise that you wait until you unlock the Loot trophy before buying this or any other items not strictly required for story progression. This is one of Bentley's abilities.

Collect Dimitri's diving gear

 

Mission related, cannot be missed. Acquired in Episode Five.

 

Finding the gear will lead you into..... Here are the steps to using the treasure map to find the diving equipment:

 

Start in front of the statue near the enemy ship at the other side of the island.

Go 12 paces southeast, following the statue's gaze. (When ready, press :circle: to proceed to the next clue.)

Go 6 paces east, towards the two trees that form an X shape.

Go 18 paces south, towards the ring of palm trees. Take care not to touch the lizards.

Go 16 paces southeast, passing between two large rocks.

Go 13 paces east, towards the beach and an island that has three trees.

Go 6 paces north, following where the wrecked ship is pointing at.

End. To complete this job, obtain the diving equipment.

Paraglide (300) - Episode 2, Day 2

Glide through the air (by holding :r1:) Paragliding allows Sly to descend slowly through the air while he is still moving forwards at a considerable speed. It is required for finishing the game. You will get the notification when it's time to buy it, if you haven't done so by then.

During the final battle with Dr.M, Carmelita comes in to arrest Sly. Dr.M tries to shoot Carmelita, but Sly has love for her so he takes the hit leaving Carmelita to finish off the Dr.

Purchase Shadow Power Level 2

Before you can purchase Shadow Power level 2, you will need Power level 1 first.

  • Shadow Power Level 1 (1000) - Episode 3, Day 2
  • Shadow Power Level 2 (1600) - Episode 5, Day 1

This power makes Sly completely invisible at any time. The level 2 shadow power has the same effect as the level 1 version, but it also allows Sly to perform any of his other moves. Running while using the level 2 shadow power will still create noise, but the guards won't be able to see Sly unless he touches them.

Spoiler

In order to stop the pumps from flowing, Bentley will need Sly to open the back door so Bentley can destroy the pumps. Sly will disguise himself once again to get to the pump room. All you have to do once you get control of Bentley is to throw bombs at the pumps. It will take a few bombs. There are six pumps to destroy.

Swing the cane around for an even longer period of time. To perform this, press :triangle: and then press :square:.

You will need to purchase Jump attack level 1 & 2 before you can buy the third one. If you wait until Episode 5, there is the perfect spot to gather up enough coins for all the powers and upgrades.

Spoiler

Since Octavio is an opera singer you will need to beat him at his own game. You will be pressing a series of buttons as you play as Bentley. The better you sing the closer Octavio gets to you, giving Sly the chance to drop the stage lights on top of Octavio.

 

Then there will be a boat chase where you have to shoot down Octavio's boat, then a fight with Murray and Octavio. Use the oil in the middle to slow Octavio down. You will have a new recruit making the total 4.

Defeat the Black Baron

 

Mission related, cannot be missed. Acquired in Episode Three.

Spoiler

This is a 2 part fight.

 

  1. First fight is in the air. The only black plane has flashing lights. Only go after that plane and stay at a distance; if you are close to the Baron he will shoot you down alot quicker than you can do damage.
  2. Second time around is on a plane wing, one on One. Fight like normal, dodging his attacks. Watch out for his charge attack and his uppercut. At a certain point he will fall off. He will be hanging on to the plane wing, but his goons will start coming out of the door. Take them out.

 

  • This time around he will jump up slamming on the wing so jump so you don't get hurt.
  • After you landed enough damage to him a second time, he will fall and more goons will come out of the door, take them out. After the Baron comes back onto the wing, goons will continue to come out so prepare to fight them as well. They will come out one at a time, until one is down.
  • If you Fall off the wing, you will lose health and fall enough times you will die. You will soon find out who the Baron really is. You will have a new recruit, making the total 5.

Defeat Muggshot

Spoiler

Bentley will start a fight with Muggshot, while Sly leads Carmelita to the Town Square. You should stay on the roof of the house you are on, it gives you an advantage against Muggshot. Just aim at Muggshot and soon the gun fight will be over. This is not much of a challenge.

Defeat Chinese Dragon

 

Mission related, cannot be missed. Acquired in the last mission in Episode Four.

Spoiler

You have to use the rockets located on top of the houses in order to get on top of the dragon that is flying in the air. Once you get on the dragon, you will be located on the back of the tail. Work your way towards the head of the dragon, jumping over the fiery breath. Once you get close to the head of the dragon land some hits, while jumping over the flaming tongue.

 

Rinse and repeat until the battle is over.

25.jpg  Taking Out The Trash (S)

Defeat LeFwee

 

Mission related, cannot be missed. Acquired in Episode Five

Spoiler

You first have to take his boat out to get on it. This will be the last mission for this chapter.

 

You will trick LeFwee into telling you where Penelope is, But it is Sly that gets tricked. Bentley will try to take off in the boat, but gets shot by LeFwee's ship, he made it far enough and the battle begins. Once you get control of the crusher, spam the :r1: / :l1: buttons to hurt the guards until it is over. Bentley will try and open the door that Penelope is trapped in. You will have to make sure no guards get near him.

 

After you save her, the real battle with LeFwee starts. This will be a duel with LeFwee on one of the sails. Knock him off to proceed.

 

Wait for him to tip his hat to use the high attack ( :triangle: ) when his sword is low.

 

On the second sail wait for him to do his high attack, then when he tips his hat and bends, use your low attack (:square:) when is sword is high.

 

The third and last sail, remember to duck and jump when it is time to. Remember the steps above - he will change it up on the last phase. When he falls for the third time, the trophy will pop after it states "job complete."

Defeat Crusher

 

Mission related, cannot be missed. Acquired in Episode Five.

Be mindful that the monster doesn't have a health bar. This monster doesn't like visitors. The mission is Crusher from the Depths.

 

You start off as Panda King on the boat. Use the rockets to shoot down the tentacles, after a while the head of the monster will appear, shoot at it (there will be a green cross hair, which will turn red when it's locked on).

 

He will shoot fiery boulders at you so watch out. Just keep hitting him until he falls. Then you will have to shoot the tentacles that are trying to tip the boat over. Take out as many as you can until the next phase starts.

 

After the monster's head resurfaces, he/she will bring tentacles with it. Aim at them while aiming at the head. 5-6 times in the mouth will take it out. Once that is over Sly will come out and take over(man that monster is big).

 

Sly's turn

Use the cannons to damage the monster. First you will have to whack the tentacles that stick to the boat. Hitting it will make the monster come closer after you have 3 of the tentacles on the boat. Then the cannon will be effective on the monster.

 

The next time around you will have to stick 4 of the tentacles to the boat, while watching out for the fiery balls.

 

After that you have to whack 5 tentacles and dodge fast fiery boulders coming at you. There will be shadows, so don't get hit by the tentacles.

 

After the last hit, the gang will come to the top of the boat and Guru will try to make the Crusher a new member of the team. The Guru will leave.

Spoiler

Phase one: You first have to jump to the beams and grab onto Dr.M's hooks to bring him onto the middle of the stage. Once he is there he will shoot a laser at you, hide under the vehicle to end the laser show. Hit him as you would normally fight an enemy once he is on the ground, while dodging his attacks. After you dealt enough damage he will return to the air.

 

Phase two: You again have to jump to the beams and grab onto Dr.M's hooks to bring him onto the middle of the stage. Once he is there he will shoot a laser at you, hide under the vehicle to end the laser show. This time he uses electric element to damage Sly, avoid it and hit it when you obtain the chance. If you get it take it as an advantage to deal more damage.

 

Phase three: You again have to jump to the beams and grab onto Dr.M's hooks to bring him onto the middle of the stage. Once he is there he will shoot a laser at you, hide under the vehicle to end the laser show. This time it's fire, watch out for it and damage him when you get the chance. Enough damage will end the fight.

 

Phase Carmelita: She will join the battle. All you have to do is shoot Dr.M 4-5 times to end the battle.

Collect 2,500 coins

 

You must have all 2,500 at once. So I would advise you to not purchase anything until you have gotten this trophy. If you are having trouble rounding up the required coin for the moves, I suggest go pickpocketing for items - they offer a decent bit of change and the enemies carry better loot for you to pickpocket as the episodes progress. You will know when a person has a rare item when their pocket shines bright.

 

Spoiler

Episode 5, there is a time where you get a boat, when using the boat and on sea, take out as many boats as you can to rank in the coins to purchase more abilities.

 

Episode 2 (Rumble Down Under), there is a mission where you play as Murray and you have to feed guards to an alligator. The enemies are unlimited as long as you don't feed them to the alligator just yet.

 

Just keep spamming the face buttons to knock out guards and pick up the coins they drop. I had 1000 when I started the mission and within 25 minutes, the loot trophy popped. This way you have the trophy early on and you can start buying new moves if you want to. Thanks Alex 92 for the tip.

Complete 100% of the game

 

In order to obtain this trophy you will need to complete every episode, job & challenge. There are 6 episodes. Each with their own set of jobs and challenges. Complete all 7 challenges in the Hazard room and the Prologue: Beginning of the End. To get to each job and challenge go to the episode you want to play and scroll down to Jobs & Challenges. Episode One: An Opera Of fear

 

  • Canal Chase Expert Course

Defeat the enemy boats in the canal. The heroes' boat has half the normal amount of life. Use the gun as normal, it will over heat if you hold the button to long so use it moderately. There will be more boats in your way so jumping when needed and shooting will help a lot. There are three boats that you have to shoot down. While the boats that get in your way are breakable, you are better off not wasting your bullets on them.

  • Air Time

You have to destroy the tar reservoirs within the time limit. The time starts right away so get into ball form with :l1: and hit the first tar reservoir. For you to break the reservoir you need to press the :cross: button upon impact. There are five reservoirs that need destroying. Once you destroy one tar reservoir you will get back a full time meter. So don’t rush and make mistakes. Press down on the :l3: stick to pinpoint the next reservoir.

  • Tower Scramble

Destroy the sign at the top of the tower within the time limit. You start off on the roof. Run to the other side of the building climb up and hook onto the first hook you see with :circle:. Continue to climb until you reach the sign at the top.

  • Coin Chase

Collect at least 20 coins while chasing Octavio. You will have to break everything you see that is breakable while you are chasing Octavio. You cannot lose him while in this challenge so be quick and don’t fight anyone. Run with :r1: and break anything you see with blue star sparks (that you can hide under). There is a certain section where Octavio and Bentley had the opera duet. There are tables there that are breakable that can earn some coins but be quick cause the challenge is about to end.

  • Speed Bombing

Destroy the vacuum pumps within the time limit. Stay on the left side until you have destroyed all the vacuum pumps on that side. Leave the pump in the middle for last. Be quick and throw 3 to 4 bombs at a time. Some pumps may need more. Use the :r1: button to get to each pump quicker. Having the timed bomb gadget will come in handy.

 

Alternative Method: Use the grapple cam's blaster as it's much faster, credit to WackyThomas for this.

  • Octavio Canal Challenge

Defeat Don Octavio (in the canal) within the time limit. This the same as the normal fight on the canal with Octavio. Watch out for the ray that he shoots in the water and try to get as many hits off on him before your gun over heats. Best to not let you gun overheat. Jump over falling creates and the boats that are in your way. My time is 58.39.

  • Octavio's Last Stand

Defeat Don Octavio (on the streets) within the time limit. This is a straight forward fight that has time. Use the tar that is gushing from the middle, when Sly gets the tar pumping. That is the best way to get hits off on Octavio. After you have brought his health to 50% the tar will dry up and you will have to follow Sly to the next location. Get to the next location by running. Watch out for the red ray that he shoots out of his mouth when he begins to sing, just jump over it and continue to hit him.

  • Venice Treasure Hunt: Before you can play this you need to complete episode 5.

 

  1. Start on the water trap directly below a very large clock, on the upper roads not far from the police station.
  2. Go 4 paces east.
  3. Go 14 paces southeast, through the alleyway leading closer to the police station.
  4. Go 16 paces southwest, towards the circular courtyard in front of the police station.
  5. Go 9 paces west, away from the police station's front entrance.
  6. Go 6 paces north, away from the tower.
  7. Go 11 paces northwest, away from the central courtyard, and going underneath a bridge.
  8. Go 6 paces southwest, towards the fountain with two statues.
  9. End.

 

Episode Two: Rumble Down Under

 

  • Rock Run

Complete the search for the Guru within the time limit. Once you gain control of Sly, run to the left to the mountain, jump there and then climb up the skinny tree branch that is sticking out of the ground. This is where you jump from hook to hook until you reach the Guru's second home. After you get there you have to run to the other side of the map and climb that side. Press down on the :l3: analog stick to get the next location to go to.

 

  • Cave Sprint

Reach the safe within the time limit and without getting hit. You have to jump from one spinning drill to the next until you get to the walkway. Stay on the first drill piece you land on until you get closer to the next one and then jump so forth for the next one. Once you reach the walkway. Run to the guard and hit him off. Jump to the hook and jump up to the landing there. Jump on the tip of the drill with :circle: until it goes around to the next drill, jump to that drill until you get to the next walkway. Run to the end, jump up to the hook and jump over the lasers until you reach the safe box.

 

  • Cave Mayhem

Defeat at least 12 guards before exiting the cave within the time limit. The best way to do this is to knock them off as quickly as possible while moving to the entrance of the cave. There are more than enough enemies to get this within time.

 

  • Scaling the Drill

Use the switch at the top of the drill within the time limit. This is the same as the Tower Scramble challenge from Episode One, but you are climbing the drill. Just make it to the top and on the platform on time to finish this challenge.

 

  • Guard Swappin'

Possess at least 5 different guards before landing on the ground again. The best way to do this is to find a guard and get close to him. Jump on him with :circle:, run to the next enemy and press :triangle: to let go of the guy you are on (make sure you don't hit the guy you need to jump on), press :circle: to jump on him and repeat the process with the next three guys. You cannot touch the ground until you have landed on five different people.

 

  • Quick Claw

Use the claw to protect the power nodes. Use the claw to throw the guards back to the fence to kill them quicker. Pick them up with :cross: and throw them with :circle:. Just go after the guards as quickly as possible to end the challenge quicker.

 

  • Pressure Brawl

Defeat the guards at the bar (excluding the boss) within the time limit. This is the basic bar fight all over again. Fight as normal and use the electric fence as much as possible and the other gadgets that cause damage in the bar. You will use all three heroes, one at a time.

 

  • Croc and Coins

Collect at least 100 coins before finishing feeding the crocodile. Defeat the enemies that are coming and don't feed any of them to the croc until you have reached 100 coins. You will need to feed the croc with each one a set amount of times. You cannot quit until you get 100 coins and have fed the croc completely.

 

  • Carmelita Climb

Remove the Mask of Dark Earth within the time limit. Climb up her leg and have her knock the mask off her face. You have to climb each leg to get to each ear in order for her to knock the mask off, just be quick about it. Go for the left leg first.

  • Outback Treasure Hunt: Before you can play this you need to complete Episode 5.

 

  1. Start on the steps in front of the Guru's shack at the stockade.
  2. Go 9 paces south, towards the open doorway in the fence.
  3. Go 9 paces southeast, towards the crane.
  4. Go 10 paces east, towards the Outback Bar.
  5. Go 14 paces southeast, towards a small broken truck.
  6. Go 28 paces south, away from the large super truck.
  7. Go 4 paces northeast, towards the crane.
  8. Go 8 paces south, towards a small island.
  9. End.

Episode Three: Flight Of fancy Episode

 

  • Castle Quick Climb

Reach the top of the castle within the time limit. Same as Tower Scramble challenge from Episode One, but you are climbing the Baron's castle. Proceed as normal, just watch out for the Baron when you get to the window.

 

  • Muggshot Goon Attack

Defeat at least 30 guards before defeating Muggshot. Stand close to Muggshot to defeat 30 guards quickly and without losing health. Use the switch to your right to do damage quickly to Muggshot and the guards.

  • Security Breach

Use the security system in the sewers to keep enemies away from the plane. The plane has half the normal amount of life. Use the :l3: to switch from monitor to monitor. Use the :cross:, :square:, :triangle: and :circle: buttons to cause damage. You can only cause damage to the enemies when the screen is pushed forward to your TV screen, you need to keep you eyes on both screens. Watch it carefully, you can only let one or two enemies past, Murray will defeat them.

  • Defend the Hangar

Use the RC copter to defend the hangar. The hangar has half the health. Go after the enemies as usual, watch the arrow on where to go next. Go from side to side to take bigger enemies out quicker.

  • Precision Air Duel

Defeat 12 tri-winged planes. These are the black planes with three wings on them. Shoot them down like any other plane. Make sure you don't hit any blue ones they won't count and don't die - if you do, you will start back from zero.

 

  • Wolf Rampage

Defeat the guards with the wolf. The wolf has half the normal amount of life, but first-aid crosses can be obtained to increase it. Use the :circle: button with caution when in close spaces to not harm the wolf.

 

  • One Woman Army

Defeat at least 15 guards before defeating Muggshot. Most of the guards will come to you, but you can go down from the house and seek them yourself before defeating Muggshot. When going after Muggshot, stay above him so he doesn't do much damage to Carmelita and watch out for the bombs he throws.

 

  • Going out on a Wing

Defeat the Black Baron within the time limit. Second time around is on a plane wing. This is a one on one fight with the Baron. Fight like normal and dodging his attacks. Watch out for his charge attack and his uppercut. At a certain point he will fall off, he will be hanging on to the plane wing, but his goons will start coming out of the plane door. Take them out.

  1. This time around he will jump up, slamming on the wing so jump so you don't get hurt.
  2. After you landed enough damage to him a second time, he will fall and more goons will come out of the door, take them out. After the Baron comes back on to the wing, goons will continue to come out so prepare to fight them as well. They will come out one at a time, until one is down.

 

  • Holland Treasure Hunt: Before you can play this you need to complete Episode 5.

 

  • Start on the manhole in front of the hotel.
  • Go 29 paces south, across a bridge.
  • Go 10 paces southwest, away from some cheese.
  • Go 7 paces south, away from the well.
  • Go 9 paces east, towards a windmill.
  • Go 18 paces southwest, towards the Black Baron's castle.
  • Go 13 paces east, towards the hangars.
  • Go 10 paces southeast, towards a windmill near the river.
  • End.

Episode Four: A Cold Alliance

 

  • Big Air in China

Use the ball form to reach 3 waypoints within the time limit and without getting hit. The time starts right away so get into ball form with :l1:. The first location may be the hardest to get to, just make sure you press the :cross: button upon impact with the ground to make the next jump higher. Don't fall in the water or get hit by any guards. Press down on the :l3: stick to pinpoint the next location. My time 1:42.96.

 

  • Sharpshooter

Use the turrets to cover Murray. Murray has half the normal amount of life. Make sure to take the guards out as quickly as possible while always moving. Shoot the spikes and make sure you defeat the guards; they may only be stunned so keep an eye on them.

 

  • Treetop Tangle

Defeat General Tsao (above the forest). Sly has half the normal amount of life. Tsao has two attacks. One is to shoot several fireballs at Sly and the other is to rotate his shield while he flies straight from one bamboo to another. I found it easier to jump towards a bamboo that is close to him and then use the double jump (press :cross: again) when Tsao starts moving again, that way you are behind him and you can land a hit off on him. Use the :square: button to attack. This may take a few tries before you can defeat him.

 

  • Tsao Showdown

Defeat General Tsao (within the forest). Sly has half the normal amount of life. Tsao will now attack Sly mainly by running close and rotating his shield (which is preceded by a very brief pause). That is your chance to land a single attack on him. When Tsao starts using the black magic and the zombie hands start coming from the ground, jump on the bamboo sticks to not get hurt. Jump from bamboo to bamboo, which will slow Tsao down from cutting them down and you falling from it. Tsao also has a dragon head that he shoots out, you can either run away until the dragon head is gone or climb up the bamboo stick - jump from bamboo to bamboo because the dragon heads will climb up the one you are on if you stay on it to long.

 

I would recommend taking distance from the boss and press :triangle: :triangle: :triangle: (While charging in to the boss) and release with :square:. I managed to stop him from using any magic at all. Thanks unnxandros

 

 

  • China Treasure hunt: Before you can play this you need to complete Episode 5.

 

  • Start behind the van, below the safehouse.
  • Go 13 paces southwest.
  • Go 18 paces west, towards a pagoda.
  • Go 14 paces north, towards the large statue of General Tsao.
  • Go 14 paces west, away from the safehouse.
  • Go 9 paces northwest, towards another arch.
  • Go 7 paces north, towards the palace.
  • Go 24 paces east, along a narrow sloping path.
  • End.

Episode Five: Dead Men Tell No Tales

 

  • Patch Grab

Obtain the eye patch within the time limit. Just run into the light to get his attention and then run to where the anchor is. Trigger the anchor to fall when Jake is close or over the shadow of the anchor. My time is 0:28.10.

 

  • Stealth Challenge

Obtain the peg leg within the time limit. This is where silent obliteration comes in handy. Taking out the 2 guards will be easy if you bought that item. They will not notice you taking anyone out and the quicker you will get to the rat to pull the peg leg.

 

  • Boat Bash

Defeat the enemy patrol boats within the time limit. The other boats have armor so hit them first with your boat before shooting the cannon at them.

 

  • Last Ship Sailing

Defeat at least 5 enemy boats before sinking. There are no first-aid chests.

  • Pirate treasure hunt: Before you can play this you need to complete Episode 5.

 

  • Start on the rock pillar near the waterfall. This pillar is roughly shaped like a mushroom.
  • Go 7 paces south, towards the pirate campsite on the beach.
  • Go 10 paces southeast, towards a distant pirate flag.
  • Go 5 paces southwest, away from a small boat on the beach.
  • Go 9 paces south, away from the campfire.
  • Go 5 paces east, towards Skull Keep.
  • Go 4 paces northeast, falling back down to the sands of the beach.
  • Go 6 paces northwest, towards the waterfall.
  • End.

Episode Six: Honor Among Thieves

 

 

  • Beauty Versus The Beast

Defeat Dr.M's beast within the time limit. Always be in movement, don't shoot the little guards that start coming once you get to the other side, just run around until you have dealt enough damage. Always aim at the beast that Dr.M is riding. When there is a chance to move to the next boulder make the jump to the boulder, if you try to stay there you will not get any hits off the beast.

 

  • Road Rage

Defeat at least 16 drone cars. There are no energy spheres. You are driving the car, to defeat a car you will have to use the :l2: when a car is on your left and the :r2: button when a car is on your right. Do not let any car behind you, you are more vulnerable that way and they can defeat you faster. Drive fast and defeat them as quickly as possible, stay on one side of the track until you get close to the cars so you don't get hit by their bullets. Once you reach 16 you will have to have your car destroyed in order to complete the challenge.

 

  • Dr.M Dogfight

Defeat Dr.M's airship within the time limit. Sly should fly close to Dr.M while pumping him with bullets, so the rockets that Dr.M shoots won't be able to hit him. Use the :l1: button to use the homing missiles to lock on to the rockets if you don't fly close to Dr.M. When Dr.M has taken enough damage he will start shooting out green energy beams; fly between them so you can still pump him with bullets and don't use the boost while you are between them. Follow that for the next two phases, fly close to him after he stops shooting the green energy beams. After awhile he will use the beams again - fly between them and pump more bullets into him. My time is 1:24.06.

 

 

Additional Info

 

Also, for the final boss fight after he has blown up the vehicle an easy way to defeat him is to jump on the lasers, he will then fire easy-to-dodge red balls at you. Jump back to the platform and you can easily hit him 2 or 3 times before he attacks. Repeat on all 3 stages of the boss fight. Credit to Enemy Agent

 

  • Ultimate Gauntlet

Reach the inner sanctum within the time limit. There are no checkpoints in this challenge so be careful when you make your jumps. This is a pretty straight run to the end. Make sure he activates each ancestor's statue to activate the next obstacles in the gauntlet of ancestors. My time is 7:44.58.

 

  • Battle Against time

Defeat Dr. M (at the inner sanctum) within the time limit.

Phase one: You first have to jump to the beams and grab onto Dr.M's hooks to bring him onto the middle of the stage. Once he is there he will shoot a laser at you, hide under the vehicle to end the laser show. Hit him as you would normally fight an enemy once he is on the ground, while dodging his attacks. After you dealt enough damage he will return to the air.

 

Phase two: You again have to jump to the beams and grab onto Dr.M's hooks to bring him onto the middle of the stage. Once he is there he will shoot a laser at you, hide under the vehicle to end the laser show. This time he uses electric element to damage Sly, avoid it and hit it when you obtain the chance. If you get it take it as an advantage to deal more damage.

 

Phase three: You again have to jump to the beams and grab onto Dr.M's hooks to bring him onto the middle of the stage. Once he is there he will shoot a laser at you, hide under the vehicle to end the laser show. This time its fire, watch out for it and damage him when you get the chance. Enough damage will end the fight.

This was my method for purchasing the upgrades needed for the trophy because I didnt wanna waste my time destroying ships. I just played the game straight to the end and purchased the required ones for the specific missions so I ended the game with about 4600 coins.

So I loaded back Chapter 5 in the safe house and purchased what I needed for the trophies and if i didnt have enough coins for another upgrade I needed I would quit to the xmb and continue to purchase a different 1 till I got all the trophies for upgrades because the game doesnt save after you purchase something as long as u dont exit out to the main menu.

Hope that helps for those who didnt wanna waste time destroying ships like me.

Easy peasy? Other power-ups are nothing more than a convenience and I can ignore them my first playthrough?

Easy peasy? Other power-ups are nothing more than a convenience and I can ignore them my first playthrough?

 

Yea, making this a little easier. one gadget is required to buy that is trophy related so you will even net a trophy. After you beat the game just load up the file and purchase the gadget/power associated with each trophy. Step three the challenges.

I found a better way to farm for the Loot trophy. During Episode 2 Rumble Down Under there is a mission where you play as Murray and you have to feed guards to an alligator. The enemies are unlimited as long as you don't feed them to the alligator just yet.

 

Just keep spamming the face buttons to knock out guards and pick up the coins they drop. I had 1000 when I started the mission and withing 25 minutes, the Loot trophy popped. This way you have the trophy early on and you can start buying new moves if you want to.

 

I don't really see the point in waiting til the end of the games to buy all the moves that net you trophies. Then you can't use them during you playthrough and that's no fun. Why would you have to have to quit to the xmb? Wouldn't you have enough coins to buy all the trophy related moves all at once if you saved all your coins til the end of the game? You might as well buy the moves as soon as you unlock them if you have enough coins.

I was going to add that, but I didn't net alot of coins and nor did I want to sit there and wait to net coins. I did net some coins and thought it was a great place but I was bored. I will add the Murray farming to the guide and give you credit.

 

 

Its optional. I will add that to step 2. When I bought all of them most of them I didn't use. The ones I used was the mission related ones. If you dont have enough money you should quit, if you leave the thiefnet menu the game will save and you will lose out on all the coins and have to farm for coins again. Quitting to the XMB will let you keep the coins and the trophies, but not the gadgets/power ups. I didnt wait for the end of the game I bought them when I had the chance and the coins.
