You are Captain Nate Renko, part of an elite special forces team sent behind enemy lines to investigate the abandoned Soviet island of Katorga 12. Almost immediately things take a turn for the worse, as your helicopter crashes, you alter history, and then get attacked by the cast of "The Hills Have Eyes". Not even Nolan North's wit can talk you out of this one. So it's up to you to wade into this Bioshock meets Timeshift charlie foxtrot, striving to put right what once went wrong, and hoping each time that your next leap will be the leap home...

Walkthrough:

NOTE: Due to server closure, all online trophies are unobtainable

SINGLE PLAYER - HARD DIFFICULTY:

  • In reality, you can get every single player trophy in one playthrough. (Which is good, because there is no new game+ feature) However, your number of kills with each weapon/ability still count if you die and continue from a checkpoint, so it is easy to farm certain trophies like Return to Sender or Drive By if you find a good spot just by getting killed and continuing.
  • There are three possible endings, but you can continue from the final autosaved checkpoint and get all three endings without having to start a new game over again.
  • On Hard, there are really only two areas that might give you trouble. First, in the Research Facility stage where you get ambushed by the Zeks (Make sure to swap your pistol for something more useful after meeting Kathryn. Use the shotgun and don't get pinned against the door). Second, in the Rail Line stage where you fall through the tunnel floor and land in the Phase Ticks lair. (Use your TMD impulse and just sprint to the next checkpoint). Aside from those two spots, Hard is not overly taxing and much like Bioshock, it actually gets easier as you go.
  • The most easily missable trophy is the E99 Tech Geek trophy, which requires you to get 10 "Hero Upgrades" a.k.a. Bio-Formulas. Make sure to read the trophy description for a list and be aware of where in the game they are, because there is no chapter select in the game, and once you pass checkpoints you usually can't go back. For safety's sake, copy your save to a USB drive at the point you receive the TMD. No Bio-Formulas will be available in the game until after that point.
  • The other two missable trophies are Mother, My Brain Hurts which you'll get on the Central Docks stage while on the Pearl, and That Wheel? which you'll get shortly before the end of the game. Again, checkpoints happen at inconvenient times, so it couldn't hurt to make additional backups of your saves before starting these levels.

MULTIPLAYER :

  • This is where you'll sink the real time in. Currently the servers are a bit spotty, so you may want to try at different times of the day to see when you can connect most easily. Disconnects are frequent, and though a partial game will not count wins or total games, usually your individual stats for kills/power use will be saved.
  • There are two modes: Extermination and Creatures vs. Soldiers. Extermination Master and CvS Master require you to win 25 public games of each type, however the long haul trophy will be the Extermination Addict trophy which requires you to play 100 public games of Extermination. Luckily you don't have to win them, but it will still take a significant time commitment. Since you're in it to win it, do every other multiplayer trophy while racking up your 100 games. Once that is out of the way, finish up Creatures vs. Soldiers and you should be done!
  • IMPORTANT WARNING - AKA Learn from my FAIL. Your multiplayer stats are saved in your save game file, not on the server and not in a seperate file.

IF YOU OVERWRITE A SAVE FILE WITH A BACKUP, YOUR MULTIPLAYER PROGRESS WILL REVERT TO THE STATE IT WAS IN THE BACKUP FILE.

I was halfway to both my Extermination Master and Extermination Addict trophies last night, and now have to start again at level 1 because I reloaded a previous save to answer a question for the guide without backing up my original. Luckily I don't have to grind through all the creature kill trophies again, but still that's 50 games of Extermination progress lost.

COMBAT TROPHIES:

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/12.jpg Pistol Whipped (B)

20 Centurion kills in single player campaign

Using the Centurion pistol, rack up 20 kills. If playing on Hard difficulty, it is recommended to wait until you've upgraded it slightly, or to use it on unarmored Soviet soldiers instead of the mutants at the beginning of the game.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/13.jpg A Salt and Battery (B)

40 AR9 Valkyrie kills in single player campaign

Received about halfway through the Worker's District stage, this is the first useful weapon in the game. As the Valkyrie it your mainstay weapon through most of the game, you should have no trouble claiming 40 souls for Valhalla.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/14.jpg Double Barrel (B)

30 Volk S4 kills in single player campaign

A good all around weapon, useful for keeping enemies who perform melee attacks at bay. A good secondary weapon until you receive something more powerful, 30 kills with the Volk will happen in short order.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/15.jpg The Slower the Better (B)

25 Kasimov SNV-E99 slo-mo kills in single player campaign

You'll also receive the Kasimov near the end of the Worker's District stage, and shortly thereafter you'll have a plethora of targets to try it out on. Aim with :l1:, and while sighting down the scope press :l3: to engage Temporal Dilation. It will run out after about 5 seconds, but will recharge in about the same amount of time. Kill 25 enemies while time is slowed, and marvel at the superiority of Soviet technology.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/16.jpg No Time To Bleed (S)

15 Autocannon kills without reloading in single player campaign

While this trophy is easier to get on Easy difficulty, it is still quite achievable on Hard if you have fully upgraded your damage and clip size. For best results, go for this trophy in an area with many Soviet soldiers such as the Rail Line or Central Docks stages. Fire in short bursts, aim for the head, and you should have no trouble getting this trophy before your clip runs out.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/17.jpg You're a hit (B)

20 Spikeshot kills in single player campaign

While the Spikeshot rounds deal a certain amount of explosive damage, it usually isn't enough to kill an enemy outright on Hard difficulty. For best results, hit an enemy directly then watch has he explodes into chunky salsa. I would also recommend not using the Spikeshot immediately when you first find it on the crane platform. Your ammo is limited, and since you have to hold :r1: to charge up your shot, it is difficult to make your shots count while killing enemies at range from the tiny moving platform. Once back on the ground, go to town.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/18.jpg Roller Derby (B)

20 Dethex Launcher kills in single player campaign

The Dethex is a grenade launcher with a twist. Holding the :l1: button engages the weapon's alternate fire mode. Now when you hit :r1:, instead of a grenade the Dethex will spit out a glowing hamster ball of death that you can control with the :ls:. As long as the :l1: button is held, you will see a ghostly image of the grenade even through the obstacles that you're maneuvering it around. Obstacles such as the cover that the enemy is ducking behind, for example. Bump it into their feet, release :l1: and blow them all to kingdom come from the relative safety of your chest high wall.

Dethex. When it absolutely positively has to kill them on time.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/19.jpg Drive By (B)

15 Seeker kills in single player campaign

Technically, you might consider this a missable trophy, but it's pretty hard to not get 15 Seeker kills even by accident. Holding the :l1: button when you fire allows you to maneuver the bullet in the air and steer it towards some hapless socialist who soon won't be needing his potato ration. Far cooler than Heavenly Sword's similar "Twing-twang" mechanic, the Seeker round will also explode on impact, reducing your target to a soupy cloud of blood and limbs complete with V.A.T.S style ultra-slow death scream. Unlike the Spikeshot, the Seeker explosion is quite potent, usually enough to kill your target and anyone within a few feet of him. The round and any subsequent explosion will be blocked by a riot shield if your enemy is carrying one, however it is still quite effective at exploding between their feet and blowing their legs off.

Kill 5 enemies by grabbing rockets and launching them back in single player campaign

After getting the TMD Gravity upgrade you will be able to snatch a rocket out of the air and lob it back at your enemies. When a rocket is fired at you, aim at it and press :r3: quickly. Bear in mind that if you have a weapon in your hand at the time, you may have to press it twice to successfully grab the rocket. Aim it back, press :r1: and off it goes to smite the unwary.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/21.jpg Put the Dead in Deadlock (B)

Kill 10 enemies inside a Deadlock in single player campaign

After getting the TMD Deadlock upgrade, you can press and hold :r3: to create a Deadlock sphere. Aim it and launch with :r1: and all enemies within the sphere will be slowed to a crawl. Kill them before they know what hit them.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/22.jpg Up Close and Personal (B)

Kill 20 enemies with Impulse in single player campaign

When you receive the TMD, your melee attack on the :r2: button is replaced by the TMD Impulse power, a short range blast that knocks enemies back. This is fairly easy to get by killing Phase Ticks or Zeks if you soften them up first with gunfire.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/23.jpg Fire and Ice (B)

Kill 10 enemies with Propane Tanks or Cryo Tanks in single player campaign

Using the TMD Gravity power on :r3:, pick up either propane or cryogenic tanks and throw them at the enemy with the :r1: button. If they're too far away to grab with the TMD, you can try shooting them if there is an enemy nearby, but it is less effective.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/24.jpg Time Bandit (B)

Grab 5 Shields from enemies in single player campaign

Using the TMD Gravity power on :r3:, take the riot shield from any soldier that carries one. For extra laughs, launch it back using the :r1: button and kill them with their own shield. Talk about irony.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/25.jpg Ashes to Ashes (B)

Age 15 soldiers to Dust in single player campaign

Using the TMD Age power, invite 15 soldiers to re-enact the climax of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Aim at a soldier and press :l2: to watch him age faster than Lindsay Lohan. This will drain about 1/3 of your TMD energy, so plan accordingly.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/26.jpg Night of the Living Revert (B)

Turn 15 soldiers into Reverts in single player campaign

Using the TMD Reversion power, invite 15 of your closest comrades on a day trip to the ISS Ishimura. By aiming at a soldier and double-tapping the :l2: button, you will twist his DNA and reduce him to an abomination outside the laws of god and man. The double tap has to be quick to register, and that can sometimes be tricky on the trigger buttons so be warned. For best results, work on Revert Bomber at the same time as this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/32.jpg Revert Bomber (S)

Killed 10 enemies by aging a Revert and having it explode near them in single player campaign

Anyone who is a fan of "The Tick" knows the obvious joke for this trophy. Unlike a soldier, hitting a revert with the TMD Age power doesn't turn a revert to dust, but instead turns the fleshy bastard into a explosive pinata, filled with entrails and blam instead of candy. Aim at an unsuspecting revert and press :l2: to start the reaction. Make sure that the other soldiers in the area can see the shambling horror before you do, causing them to open fire on it. The revert will close to melee range, explode and hopefully kill the other soldiers. If they're unaware of the revert, or can't attack it from their position, the Evil Revert Bomber What Bombs At Midnight will come knocking at your door instead, so plan accordingly.

COLLECTION & EXPLORATION TROPHIES:

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/27.jpg Fully Armed (B)

Fully Upgraded 1 Weapon in single player campaign

Technically a collection trophy, since in order to upgrade a weapon you must find Weapon Upgrade items, which look like a large grey suitcase with blue neon piping. These will be found throughout the campaign in out of the way areas, and you will need 9 to upgrade a weapon to full strength. To maximize your return research the Scientist TMD Equipment, as its effects also apply to Weapon Upgrades, sometimes resulting in getting two per case instead of just one.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/28.jpg E99 Tech Geek (B)

Purchased 10 different Hero Upgrades in single player campaign

Throughout the game you will find character upgrades in the form of Bio-Formulas. They appear similar to the notes, a six inch square of paper that glows like other important items. Using E99 tech, you can buy these Hero Perks at the various Augmentor stations throughout the game. Though some Hero Perks have multiple levels that you can buy, the key word in the trophy description is different. Buying three levels of Heartiness for example, will only count once towards your 10. Also, purchasing the Weapon Upgrade selection under Hero Perks does not count towards this total.

Here are the locations of the 10 abilities I found throughout the game.

[spoiler=E99TechGeek]

1. After saving Barisov from being executed by Demichev and returning to 2010 through the rift, the bio-formula will be on one of the counters near the middle of the room.

2. After receiving the first TMD upgrade for TMD Gravity, lift the debris out of the way of the hole and drop down. Proceed down the short u-shaped corridor and it will be in the corner before you go through the door.

3. When "Subject Alpha", the large Zek busts through the wall, drop down into the train yard and go to the far left corner next to the stairs. At the foot of the stairs will be the bio-formula.

4. Inside Barisov's failing electric fence, go up the stairs and you will find the formula in the corner of the far wall.

5. On your way to meet Barisov in the control tower, you will find the bio-formula in the ventilation tunnels. After stopping the fan with deadlock, you will climb a short ladder into a vent. Instead of following the chrono footsteps to the right, go left and you will find the bio-formula on a crate on the right hand side of the corridor. (stamina)

6. After obtaining #5, take the right path and go through the door. You will see the bio-formula on the counter directly in front of you. (medic)

7 & 8. Immediately after rescuing Kathryn from being tied to a chair, exit the room and turn left. Straight across the hall, through the doorway, you will see two bio-formulas on the control panel against the far wall. (defense & ?)

9. Early in the central docks level, there will be a place where you have to pull a box back into phase in order to use it to jump over a metal gate. once on the other side, go to the right and up the stairs. The bio-formula will be in a little alcove at the top of the stairs to the left, a little behind the staircase (to the right of the staircase if you're looking down them). (tmd ammo)

10. While on the Pearl, you will have a vision of a man asking you to "open the door" to mark the entrance of the crew quarters. Right as you enter the door, there will be a room just to the left of the entrance with a note and bio-formula on the bed.(armor)

Apparently the possibility exists that Bio-Formula 9 will sometimes appear in a different location. Thanks to PowerCobra98 for confirming the alternate location of this formula:

I can now 100% confirm that the alternate location for the last formula is during the E99 Processing Complex. When you go back to 1955 to get the passcode and BEFORE you get on the 2nd elevator there is a room with a wrap around counter top and the formula is on that counter. The room is right outside of the elevator. Do not enter the elevator until you have picked it up or you'll be S.O.L.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/29.jpg Time's on My Side (B)

Purchased 5 different TMD Equipment items in single player campaign

Similar to E99 Tech Geek but easier to get. Obtained from Blueprints which look very similar to Bio-Formulas except slightly larger, you can buy the TMD Equipment abilities at the various Augmentor stations throughout the game using E99 tech.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/30.jpg Pen Pal (B)

Used the TMD to find 15 Chrono-Notes in single player campaign

After getting the TMD, you can use the TMD Renew ability to restore fragmentary notes scattered throughout the game, gaining some insight into the story along the way. These appear as glowing blue scribbles on the walls and floors in the game, and when your reticle is over the area, a blue indicator will appear to the left of the crosshairs. Press :l2: to make the writing appear, and usually blow your mind. There are a huge number of these notes throughout the game, and are usually quite obvious.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/31.jpg Stay After Class (B)

Used the TMD to revert 10 Chalkboards in single player campaign

Similar to the Pen Pal trophy, use the TMD Renew ability to restore the destroyed chalkboards throughout the game. You'll find the first one just outside the TMD storage vault to the left hand side. Target the chalkboard and a blue indicator will appear to the left of your crosshairs. Press :l2: to make the writing appear, though what it shows is usually far less revelatory than the previous trophy's temporal graffiti. Again, there are far more than 10 chalkboards in the game, so no need to worry.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/33.jpg That Wheel? (B)

Found the wheel. Will they ever explain this?

For fans of the TV series Lost, the "Frozen Donkey Wheel" from the end of season 4 makes an appearance in the last level of the game. Just after you receive your last TMD upgrade granting you unlimited TMD energy, use Impulse to blast the vent grating at the back of the room. Go through the vent to find a small corridor that ends in a hatch. Climb down the ladder and look to your right to see That Wheel, and earn the trophy. Try as I might, I wasn't able to turn the wheel to move Katorga 12 back to 2004 so I could warn myself not to watch the TV series Lost.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/34.jpg Mother My Brain Hurts (B)

Discovered the strange E99 specimen and what it morphs people into

This time it is a Metroid easter egg hidden deep within the hold of the Pearl. During the Central Docks stage, inside the Pearl, there will be a room with a Dethex grenade launcher and a door that you cannot open. Through the window you will see a Weapon Upgrade case, taunting you from its position of safety. To the right of the door, you will see a habitrail-style passage behind a mesh grating, starting with a small opening at the lower right and winding it's way up the wall. Using the :l1: alternate fire, send your Hamsterball of Doom into the opening, and use the :cross: button to jump it to the platform on the right. Jump back and forth up the passage, until you can move to the left and maneuver it down into a passage under the floor. Roll it around until it passes under the locked door and comes to a stop, then release :l1: to blow open the door. Enter the room and look at the far wall to see the Ambassador from Zebes (who is completely tanked), and read the nearby note for a Morph Ball joke.

[spoiler=TheGoodoftheMany]After both Barisov and Demichev make their arguments about what you should do, shoot Demichev in the face. When prompted, turn around and use the TMD Age ability with the :l2: button on the singularity and you will travel back to the fire in the Workers' District in 1955. Shoot yourself in the head (why can't you just shoot Demichev?) to collapse the timeline and earn this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/11.jpg Time Master (G)(H)

Completed Singularity on Hard Mode

On Hard, there are really only two areas that might give you trouble. First, in the Research Facility stage where you get ambushed by the Zeks (Make sure to swap your pistol for something more useful after meeting Kathryn. Use the shotgun and don't get pinned against the door). Second, in the Rail Line stage where you fall throughthe tunnel floor and land in the Phase Ticks lair. (Use your TMD impulse and just sprint to the next checkpoint). Aside from those two spots, Hard is not overly taxing and much like Bioshock, it actually gets easier as you go.

General tips to remember. Never pass by health packs if your health is even slightly below 100%. Very rarely do you cover the same ground twice, so it isn't worth leaving anything behind because you likely wont be back. Later in the game, use the TMD Reversion ability to thin out groups of soldiers before wasting your ammunition on them.

MULTIPLAYER TROPHIES:

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/35.jpg Extermination Expert (B)

Play 5 public matches of Extermination

Unobtainable due to server shutdown

See Extermination Addict.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/37.jpg Extermination Master (S)

Win 25 public matches of Extermination

Unobtainable due to server shutdown

See Extermination Addict.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/36.jpg Extermination Addict (S)

Play 100 public matches of Extermination

Unobtainable due to server shutdown

The biggest time sink in the game. You must play 100 public matches of Extermination, regardless of whether you win or lose. Along the way you will earn the Extermination Expert trophy at 5 games, and hopefully the Extermination Master trophy for winning 25 of them. It is while you are working on this trophy that you will likely earn the bulk of the multiplayer trophies aside from CvS Master. Games must be complete in order to count towards your total, so if you are disconnected from the host during the game, you're out of luck. If you join a game already in progress however, the partial game will still count towards the 100 (as long as you're not disconnected).

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/38.jpg CvS Master (B)

Win 25 public matches of Creatures vs. Soldiers

Unobtainable due to server shutdown

You must win 25 public matches of Creatures vs. Soldiers. Games must be complete in order to count towards your total, so if you are disconnected from the host during the game, you're out of luck. If you join a game already in progress however, the partial game will still count towards the 25 (as long as you win and you're not disconnected).

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/39.jpg Creature Hater (B)

Renew 25 beacons in Extermination (public match)

Unobtainable due to server shutdown

Each round of Extermination has three beacons. When playing as the soliders, you will need to renew the beacons by targeting them and using the :l2: button. Each time you restore one to full health it counts towards the total. The beacon does not have to survive until it activates, it will still count towards this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/40.jpg Creature Lover (B)

Kill 15 soldiers with each creature (public match)

Unobtainable due to server shutdown

Using a Zek, a Revert, a Radion, and a Phase Tick, kill 15 soldiers with each creature in a public match. You will almost certainly get this trophy while working towards each creature's individual kill trophies.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/41.jpg Fastball (B)

Kill 15 soldiers with a Zek barrel (public match)

Unobtainable due to server shutdown

While playing as a Zek, use the :r1: button to generate an explosive barrel that you can toss at your enemies by pressing the :r1: button again. Most enemies won't die from proximity to an explosion if they're at full health, but a direct hit takes off a significant amount of damage and will kill some of the soldier classes. The barrels follow a ballistic trajectory, so aim higher for throwing farther.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/42.jpg Zekky Style (B)

Kill 15 soldiers from behind with the Zek (public match)

Unobtainable due to server shutdown

While playing as a Zek, use the :r2: button to move out of phase and become nearly invisible. It isn't necessary, but it makes sneaking up behind a soldier a lot simpler. When in position behind the soon to be dead soldier, hammer the :l2: button to melee him to death. As long as you're behind the soldier this will count towards your total.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/43.jpg Hot Lunch Special (B)

Kill 25 soldiers with the Revert puke (public match)

Unobtainable due to server shutdown

While playing as a Revert , hold down :r1: to loose a gushing torrent of vomit on anyone unfortunate enough to be downstream from you. The attack is very powerful, slows the enemy down, and partially blinds them, meaning that you shouldn't have any trouble getting this trophy. You might have trouble keeping your lunch down, however.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/332/44.jpg Bombs Over Katorga (B)

Kill 25 soldiers with the Radion's Iob attack (public match)

While playing as a Radion, use :r1: to fire a blast of energy at your enemies. While the attack is powerful and long range, a Radion is an extremely large slow moving target, so be careful to have backup before wading into the enemy.

Possess 15 soldiers with tick leap attack (public match)

Unobtainable due to server shutdown

While playing as a Phase Tick, line up your enemy in the crosshairs and press :r1: to leap at his face. For greater accuracy, hold :l1: to see the arc of your attack before you jump. If you manage to survive long enough, you will posess the soldier and be able to get the The VP Treatment the trophy.

Kill 25 creatures with the Bruiser's Impulse Power (public match)

Unobtainable due to server shutdown

While playing as a Bruiser, use :r2: to trigger a TMD Impulse blast. Phase Ticks are your primary target for this trophy. Even coupled with the Increased Damage perk, an Impulse blast won't be enough to kill most enemies other than a Phase Tick, so wear them down with gunfire first and finish them off with Impulse.

Use the Healer's power to restore 25 soldiers to full health (public match)

Unobtainable due to server shutdown

While using the Healer, target a soldier that is injured and hold :r2: to heal them back up to full health. Your range is limited, so stay close to the soldier and move on to the next one when he is healed.

Kill 15 creatures with the Lurker's reflective shield damage from a melee hit (public match)

Unobtainable due to server shutdown

While using the Lurker, hold :r2: to engage your shield. While the shield is up, any melee attack that hits you will instead damage the enemy doing the attacking. Your primary target will be Zeks, followed by Reverts if they get in close enough. Lure 15 idiots to punch themselves out. Keep in mind however that the shield is ridiculously hard on TMD energy and only lasts a few seconds, so time your activations accordingly.

Possess a soldier, then shoot another soldier in the face (public match)

Unobtainable due to server shutdown

If it's good enough for Cheney, it's good enough for you. Once you've posessed a soldier with a Phase Tick, use that soldier to get a headshot on another solider. Act quick though, because they tend to take captured soldiers seriously and focus their attacks on you.

Travel 585 meters using the Blitzer's Teleport power (public match)

Unobtainable due to server shutdown

While using the Blitzer, press :r2: to teleport a short distance in the direction you're facing. Keep pressing :r2: as the ability recharges and soon enough you will get this trophy.

Get highest number of kills in a public match

Unobtainable due to server shutdown

You have to get the highest number of kills in the entire match, that means higher than everyone on both teams in order to receive this trophy.

TIPS:

  • Currently connecting to a Multiplayer game can be difficult. Often you'll select a public match, and the game will display "Searching for Match" then will show "Finding Best Match" for extended periods of time. From my experience, if the game switches from searching to finding and doesn't display "Connecting" almost immediately, it will not find you a match. If the "Finding Best Match" message is up for longer than one to two minutes, back out of the menu and try again. I have had far more success through this method than from waiting for the game to connect.
  • Also, once you get into a lobby, if you find that the game is continuously counting down to start then waiting for players, it is probably stuck in a loop. If after a few times it doesn't start the game you will have to exit and join a different room. Don't waste your time waiting.
  • ProjeckNemesis offers the following location suggestion for the combat trophies:
[spoiler=ProjeckNemesisFarming]I found a great place to farm the various kill trophies, when you make it up to the tower (the game gives you the second story trophy) and Barisov tells you to take the elevator down. Soon after you will fall into the sewers and you are swarmed by the Headcrab-like crawly things (I don't know what they are called). I farmed out the slomo sniper kills, deadlock and others. Right after you turn the valve the door opens and 5-7 of the enemies pour through the door which makes it a great place to get the slomo kills real quick.

FUN GAMES TO PLAY WHILE GRINDING 100 EXTERMINATION GAMES:

I love emergent game play. Just ask the old Red Faction Guerrilla gang about our many hours of Sledgehammer Chicken, and they'll tell you that it makes the grind a lot easier to take. Here are some suggestions of games to play to pass the time.

  • FACIAL TICK - Developed by myself and WOLF848490, Facial Tick is played by selecting a target from the opposing team. All participants spawn as Phase Ticks and attempt to capture the target. Score 1 point for landing on the target, and 1 point for capturing them successfully. Game lasts until the target gets fed up with continuously having their face violated by mutant insects and quits. Variant: On rounds where you spawn as soldiers, lose 1 point if the designated target uses a Phase Tick and captures you.

Thanks for the guide! I'm using it now to move through the game. I'm a little confused on the formula vs. blueprint stuff though. Are they the same thing? What is a hero upgrade as opposed to a tmd upgrade?

Basically this may be a stupid question but did I mess up the chance to get the Hero trophy by buying 1 Heartiness upgrade and 1 TMD Sharpshooter upgrade?

Are ALL the Hero upgrades under the Hero tab in the Augmentor? I would assume yes but I'm just a little confused at this point. I'm thinking I may have messed up and have to go back a USB save I made from the night before and waste 3 hours I put in yesterday.

Blueprints are for TMD Equipment/Perks, Bio-Formulas are for Hero Perks.

When you're at the Augmentor station, you'll see three categories of upgrades at the top of the screen, so you can tell what goes where.

No, towards the end of the game (especially in the last level) you will have a ton of E99 tech, especially if you use the Scientist TMD Equipment. The main difficulty in that trophy is making sure you find all the Bio-Formulas. On my first playthrough I only found 9 out of 10 and I had 10k E99 go to waste because I had nothing to buy. Luckily on Easy difficulty, I got to the Pearl in only a few hours to finish off my single player trophies.

Yes. The menu on the far right "Hero Perks" are the ones you'll need 10 of, and the Weapon Upgrade selection doesn't count.

*********************IMPORTANT UPDATE*************************

Learn from my FAIL.

And I was almost done with the beacons too.

I don't like the sound of this. This means people are going to be able to hack the save file and get the trophies from someone else's save data.

It's too bad as well, the MP is excellent, even if it has only two modes. I love the creatures vs Russians and being able to use whatever model you want, and customize it to your specifications.

I would hope they will add a few extra modes down the road but for now it's a fun experience and all of the trophies are not difficult to obtain, especially since you need 100 matches.

Downloading saved data to your system wont give you a trophy. However, it may work if the file you get is 1 'count' away from every online trophy and then you have to do each one just once. It's just a guess though, i really cant be certain

Well, I only lost a day's worth of play, and I still have all the creature kills trophies so it isn't a total loss. Just a pain in the ass since I was up till 0500 this morning. :)

I am grateful you put this together but I am disappointed in one thing. Your descriptions on the bio formula locations could be a little more precise. It's my fault I suppose but I just got screwed.

On location 9 you say pull the box out of phase hop over the fence, go up the stairs, and the the formula will be in an alcove to the left of the stairs. There's really 2 ways you can read that. I read it as GO UP the stairs and then the formula will be in an alcove to the left. So I went up the stairs went through a door only to have it close on me. There's no alcove past that door and the one at the top of the stairs had nothing in it. Obviously I read your instructions incorrectly. You were trying to say that the formula is to the left of the stairs BEFORE you go up them.

Oh well. Just have to go back 5 hours or so and load up an old save. Crap!

**EDIT**

Actually you meant what you said! Ha!

Hmm...I'm finding online where people are saying that locations 9 and 10 are random and can be in different spots. I can tell you for a fact that 9 for me was not in the location that you mentioned. Did you find 9 and 10 on a different difficulty than Hard? I'm wondering if they're in a different location if using a different difficulty. I guess I'm just going to keep plowing through and see what I find.

I will note it if I find them elsewhere.

I missed that one one on my Hard run, ending the game with 9/10 formulas, so I couldn't tell you if it was there or not. I've heard people say that some of them appear in other positions, however I've not experienced that myself. The other nine formulas were in the same position on both my Hard and Easy runs.

Oh, and I've adjusted the description of that Bio-Formula location to be less ambiguous.

Good edit on the description...as I watched a youtube video that showed where you specified 9 would be and it was exactly there. Unfortunately for me it was NOT there so everybody beware that formulas 9 and 10 may be in different locations. I found a good description on a Xbox 360 site of where someone said 9 and 10 was for them so I'm going to see if that matches up with what I find. I should be able to confirm the locations later today.

I've also found that the formula names are not always the same...like you may pick up TMD ammo or whatever sooner than what is mentioned. That happened to me on my second formula and has been hit and miss down the line.
