Discs

One question I see a lot is which disc version do you need for the trophies. Well, any of them will work. There are currently 13 discs (SingStar AKA Vol. 1, SingStar Vol. 2, SingStar Vol. 3, SingStar Pop Edition, SingStar ABBA, SingStar Queen, SingStar Motown, SingStar Chart Hits, SingStar Take That, SingStar Latino, SingStar Dance, SingStar Guitar, SingStar Back to the 80s) - all of which have the full trophy list available (some also have the Guitar/Dance DLC).

You can switch from a PS3 disc to a PS2 disc and earn trophies while playing PS2 songs, even on a PS3 without backwards compatibility! At the track listing on a PS3 disc, press :select: and the on screen instructions will prompt you to swap the discs.

Roadmap

The online servers for the disc game have been shut down, making all online trophies unobtainable.

NOTE: As of SingStar update/patch 4.31, only the profile(s) that have a little icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the singer picture can earn trophies. So, be sure to select the profile with the little ridge in the bottom right corner. (credit to Pyramat for the update info)

Step 1: Time to setup

a) Go to Settings on the XMB, then Date & Time and change the date of your PS3 to Dec. 25. Now load up the SingStar disc, and you should get Happy Holiday! when you go to the main menu.

b) Repeat the above with the date as May 21 for Happy SingStar Day!

c) Change your wallpaper 5 times for Interior Decorator

d) Sing any song, in any mode (earning you SingStarter), and save 10 snapshots and/or other media. Media can be video, pictures or audio (vid/pics require PS2 or PS3 eye). When you are done saving 200 media, you will get Media Mogul. You will need to have a camera connected to get Mirror Image.

Step 2: Online

The online servers for the disc game have been shut down, making all online trophies unobtainable.

a) They Really Love Me will take the longest ~ perhaps years ~ so let's get started on that now... (while there was a glitch, it was fixed in mid 2009).

Create a Singstar online profile and upload at least one media for It's Good To Share. If you have a special talent, or something cool you can show in a video, post that, as the hardest online trophy is 1,000 ratings with 4-star or more avg. Good luck with whatever you choose. Some people apparently buy some expensive Star Wars trooper outfits to get the trophy.

b) Visit the SingStore for Window Shopper (no need to buy anything).

c) To get Center Of Attention/All Eyes on You for 100/200 views in the first week, and SingStar Celebrity for 8,000 views total, follow the steps in the trophy guide.

d) If you don't have five PSN friends with the game yet, visit the boosting thread, (click here) and request some to obtain Popularity Contest.

e) You will need to view/listen to at least 100 snapshots, 100 audio playbacks, 100 video playbacks, rate 30 media and Visit 50 different Profile pages. This will earn you Gallery Gazer, Star Maker and Meet the Locals. NOTE: You will need to wait a few seconds for the media to load in order for it to count.

I suggest you join the SingStar in-game club called "www.ps3trophies.org" and visit people's profiles, view their media, and rate it all 5-stars, even if it sucks. Then go to thier comment page and post a comment that you gave them 5-stars and they should return it. The first comment you posted will get you Chatterboxes.

After doing the rest of the game below, come back and see if your profile was viewed 50/200 times for Welcoming Party/Pillar of the Community. You will also see how much you need for They Really Love Me.

Step 3: Sing Grind

Sing/hum/dance/strum your best, till you get over 9000 points on five songs for each difficulty setting: Easy Super Performer Bronze, Medium Super Performer Silver and Hard Super Performer Gold. While that can be done in short length, you should now choose the song with the top score and play it on Normal (full length) for Keep It Cool, Your Golden Moment and (on Hard mode) Beat Bravo!.

The rest of this grind can be done in short length. You will need to score at least 1000 points for it to count, and putting the mic(s) near the speakers might just do the trick. It can be the same song/medley/battle over and over, you certainly don't need to sing 710 distinct songs.

  • Play 10 medleys for Medley-Go-Round.
  • Play 200 songs in Duet mode for It Takes Two.
  • Play 50 songs in Sing Solo mode for Go It Alone.
  • Play 200 songs in Battle mode for In It to Win It. One time, win a battle on hard difficulty, while your opponent plays on easy for Leagues Apart. If mic two scores very low, you will also get At Least You Tried.
  • Complete 300 songs total (all modes) to unlock Beginner Performer, Veteran Performer and Obsessive Performer (any you sang before count towards these totals).

If you had gotten the online trophies before the server shutdown, you should now have the platinum!

Play 10 medleys

Play 10 medleys. You can repeat the same medley as many times as you'd like as each play counts, and the songs can be on short length (reducing the time significantly).

The minimum score has to be amateur (1000 points) for a song to count. Putting the mic(s) near the speakers might just do the trick, make sure you are scoring enough points.

TIP: A turbo controller trick can be used to clean up those repetitions. (thanks to technole)

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/129/005.jpg Keep It Cool (B)

Achieve a 'cool' ranking on every line of a 'normal' length song

When you sing a song, got most of the notes on screen, and a little green word "cool" will pop up above your score. You will need to do this for the entire song to unlock this. Play your favorite song on easy. A great trick is to unscrew the top of the mic and simply hum the song. See Super Performer Gold for track suggestions.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/129/006.jpg Your Golden Moment (B)

Fill every bonus note in a 'normal' length song

When you sing a song, there will be some gold glittering notes on screen. You will need to fill each of these bonus notes. Play your favorite song on easy in normal/full length. A great trick is to unscrew the top of the mic and simply hum the song. See Super Performer Gold for track suggestions.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/129/002.jpg Super Performer Bronze (B)

Score over 9000 on 5 different songs on Easy (Unlocks a PlayStation®Home reward)

See Super Performer Gold. NOTE: PlayStation Home reward is only available for EU accounts.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/129/003.jpg Super Performer Silver (S)

Score over 9000 on 5 different songs on Medium

See Super Performer Gold.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/129/004.jpg Super Performer Gold (G)

Score over 9000 on 5 different songs on Hard

With the release of Dance and Guitar, those scores now count as well. So you can sing/hum/dance/strum any song to over 9000 points. Do your best, getting over 9,000 points each on five distinct songs for this difficulty setting. You can do this on short length (reducing the time and therefore the difficulty). People have reported that you can mix and match play styles as well. For example: sing two songs over 9000, and dance three other songs to over 9000.

The difficulty levels don't stack, so you will actually need to do this on all three difficulty settings. Start with Easy, and play your favorite songs as best as you can. Pay attention to the bars that appear on screen to help you understand if your pitch/dance/stroke is higher or lower than the song demands. Repeat the songs till you can match up five songs on easy. Repeat the process on medium, and then on hard.

If your favorite song is available on a Singstar disc or the SingStore, that will often work best for you. Here is a list of songs many people found to be the easiest:

  • The Pussycat Dolls - Beep (Backing vocals as Will)
  • Manfred Mann - Do Wah Diddy (Backing vocals)
  • Radiohead - Creep (Many unscrew the top of the mic and hum into the sponge)
  • Amy Winehouse - Back to Black
  • Queen - Fat Bottomed Girls (Backing as chorus)
  • One Republic - Stop and Stare (Guitar)
  • Outkast - Hey Ya! (Sing or Dance)
  • Depeche Mode - Enjoy the Silence
  • Blink 182 - All the Small Things
  • Len - Steal My Sunshine (Backing vocals as Sharon)
  • Lily Allen - The Fear
  • The Killers - Mr. Brightside
  • Avril Lavigne - I’m With You
  • Junior Senior - Move Your Feet (Junior)
  • The Fray - Over My Head (Cable Car)
  • Jamelia - Superstar
  • Leona Lewis - Run

You can also try using your keyboard (see this visually under Beat Bravo)!

Amy Winehouse - Back 2 black: A, C, C(sharp), D, E (hum the chorus)

Manfred Man - Do Wah Diddy: B, C(sharp), E (backing)

Pussy Cat Dolls - Beep as Will: G, A(sharp) watch the video in the guide

Queen - Fat Bottemed Girls: C(sharp), D, E, F(sharp)

The Killers - Mr Brightside: C, C(sharp), D(sharp), F, F(sharp)

(When i say sharp its the black keys, closest to the flat keys.)

For a lengthier list of keyboard songs, visit this thread.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/129/007.jpg Beat Bravo! (G)

Beat our resident SingStar®! - score over 9344 on hard mode on any 'normal' length song

This is one of the hardest singing trophies in the game. See Super Performer Gold for general singing tips and suggested tracks. Take whichever song you scored highest on while doing Super Performer Gold and continue to sing that song, improving as much as you can till you score at least 9345.

There is a great trick that works for many, using a keyboard to beat Bravo. The video below is in German, where he basically shows you the two keyboard buttons he uses. He is playing "Pussycat Dolls - Beep" as Will:

The online servers for the disc game have been shut down, making all online trophies unobtainable.

Create a Singstar online profile and upload at least one media you saved while singing a song.

From the main menu, click "Media Gallery", select the media type (audio/video/pics), select the precise media you want, and then press the upload/confirm buttons (the buttons to press are listed directly underneath the media). The servers may be quite slow, so give it some time, and it will eventually upload. NOTE: PlayStation Home reward is only available for EU accounts.

Get a grand total of 8000 views from all your media ever

The online servers for the disc game have been shut down, making all online trophies unobtainable.

While you can technically beg 200 people to view your media in the first week, and get 8000 views from your media combined - neither of those sound desirable. Luckily you can do it much simpler!

I could not find any previous post even hinting at this method, which was discovered by mistake. With the removal of Singstar Viewer, you can now only do the cheap method with a disc or the Singstar "XMB" release.

As you may know, you can only rate a media once. Even if you rate it several times in a row it will not count. The reason for this is that every rating is associated with an account. However, media VIEWS are not limited to one account, so one account CAN view the same media multiple times and the counter will increase.

Now, the thing here is sometimes it doesn't seem to increase the counter. But with a little testing it became more and more apparent how the view count system works, and that is ALL revealed here.

For practical purposes, this thread will be about snapshots, where you can upload 100 (the other media is limited to only 5 each) and is therefore easier to increase the overall count to 8,000.

If you go to a friend's media, load snapshots, and hold down the right arrow or L-joystick you will fly thru the snapshots. You do NOT have to stay on each media for any time (unless you are also going for the Gallery Gazer trophy), a simple fly thru will work! You will need to let go and re-press the arrow/joystick for each "page" (when it hits 21, 41, 61 and 81).

NOTE: As of Singstar Patch 4.31, you need to take your time and view each picture for a few seconds before going to the next picture. This method still works fine as of Dec. 14, 2009. Get it while you can, you never know when a patch may change this.

(Credit to nimrod for info on how to bypass Patch 4.31)

Now here are two big gold nuggets:

  • Found that the way the system limits your views is by remembering what media you viewed during that game session. If you Quit the game, and then load the game again, you can view and increase the counter again! (Thanks to Spyder for verifying you don't need to back out ~ you can just quit the game straight away after rating!)
  • Found that even thou the counter doesn't go up immediately, it IS still counting it. It seems like the server has one log of what was viewed and is slowly applying it to the media over the next few minutes. So if you view all media ten times in a row, and look at the view count ten minutes after you are done, each media count will have increased appropriately.

Keep in mind that if you have no current media views, you need to upload at least 40 pics. That way, you view 40 pics, 200 times, which is a total of 8,000 views right there.

Have a media upload rated 4 stars by at least 1000 ratings

The online servers for the disc game have been shut down, making all online trophies unobtainable.

This will take the longest to obtain ~ perhaps years if not boosted with multiple accounts... If you have a special talent, or something cool you can show in a video, post that, as 1000 ratings with 4-star or more avg is going to be difficult. Good luck with whatever you choose. Some people apparently buy some expensive Star Wars trooper outfits to get the trophy.

First upload a single media that you think has the best shot to get this many views with positive ratings, and delete any media that is not as good, or has substantially bad ratings. I suggest you join some random SingStar in-game clubs with the word "trophy" in the name, visit people's profiles, view their media, and rate it all 5-stars, even if it sucks. Then go to their comment page and post a comment that you gave them 5-stars and they should return it. You can join up to five clubs at a time, and you can feel free to drop out of one and pick others at any time. If you rate/comment for 20 people a week, and if everyone rates you back, you will get the trophy in around a year.

The most effective way to do this, is to have a group of ten boosters that create 100 PSN accounts each. All boosters then use the 100 accounts to rate the ten media on the main account of the boosters (your own media and nine others). See the boosting thread for more details on this method.

Like what trophies? I've been earning all my trophies just fine, but it could be because I have my name set as Adam (my real name). Are you sure it doesn't have to be the same as the name you use to sign in (all the way to the left on the XMB)? I got two of the Super Singer trophies, a bunch of online trophies, and some easy bronzes just fine. :S

Yeah, and They Really Love Me too. A Year ago. The game has been patched, and now most of Step 3: Sing Grind needs to be done under your profile name. Feel free to try to do it as Adam and see if they unlock; let us know...

I just got Beat Bravo! and Super Singer Silver yesterday with my name set as Adam. I guess I'll change it to Pyramat though, better safe than sorry.

EDIT: Would I have to re-sing the 2 songs I sang on Hard with over 9000 points, or would it still count even though it's under a different name?

Do you have the latest patches in place? Maybe they patched again and fixed the problem. I don't actually have a physical Sing disc at the moment (we got bored with the songs, so in between discs at the moment). If you got those two trophies with the patch in place, maybe you should keep it as Adam.

The long story (if memory serves correctly):

Back in the day, the game didn't auto-add your profile name to the list of users. Then they patched the game, so it adds your profile name to the list of users. Then they put in a patch that you need to get them under the same username (ie: if Bob sang 4 songs and got over 9,000, then Sue sang 4 songs and got over 9,000, and then Kelly sang 4 songs and got over 9,000, the Super Singer trophy would not unlock, because none of them sang 5 songs total ~ if any of those usernames got one more over 9,000, then it would unlock). Then they did the same thing to "sing xxx in some mode", however I believe they made that only unlock with the PSN profile username. Some of this is intuitive presumptions from various posts made on the forum by people frustrated the trophy would not unlock. Don't know of any official statement about this.

Do you have the latest patches in place? Maybe they patched again and fixed the problem. I don't actually have a physical Sing disc at the moment (we got bored with the songs, so in between discs at the moment). If you got those two trophies with the patch in place, maybe you should keep it as Adam.

Okay, thanks for the clarification. I think I'll just stay with my username as Adam until I get the Super Singer Gold trophy, then I'll change it to Pyramat. It's not a big deal if I'm not unlocking the "Sing xxx Songs" trophies as I'm not getting any anyway. I'll just unlock the Sing 300 Songs trophy when I'm going for the battle and duet ones. And yes, I do have the latest patch installed.

I just got the Super Singer Gold trophy (woohoo!) with my name set as Adam. So I have proof that it's your username you have to play with, not your PSN ID. When you choose your name, the one that you can unlock trophies with will have a little icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the singer picture. I'm glad I got that cleared up, and I'm really glad I finally unlocked Super Singer Gold! :D

Just got the disc now, and see this nice feature in the latest patch. You are 100% correct, updated the road-map slightly to reflect the update. Thanks for the info, and congrats on Super Singer Gold!

First, both thumbs up for this great find. :)

Second, it seems to work for both, as i get the icon on both names, my PSN ID and my PS3 Sign-in.

Hello every one I NEED YOUR HELP . . . I´ve read the topic about the PSN ID. My PS3 is named KRONOS (long story) but actually my PSN ID is dominiumundi. When I start the Singstar game and choose "SOLO" or any other, I can change the name in this case KRONOS (new name, create a new player, etc). What I have to do? Change my name "KRONOS to dominiumundi" in order to get the trophies or it doesn´t matter.

Thanks for your help.

Robert

Hey Robert, get the latest patch to your game, and then scroll thru the various usernames you have (which includes all your PSN ID's and those you added manually). You will notice one (or more) of them will have a little icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the singer picture. As long as you are using a name with that icon/ridge, you will earn trophies properly.
