ROADMAP

1) Play and finish the game for the first time.

With other games, you might usually start off on the hardest difficulty setting to get rid of the difficulty related trophies out of the way. Unfortunately for this game, this won't the case; they don't stack. Completing the game on Legion Hunter(Hard) will only unlock the trophy for completing the game on Hard, but not the other two. You'll have to play this game a total of three times if you want to platinum it. That said, I recommend you at to play on Normal or Hard on your first playthrough for the most enjoyment.

You will earn all story related trophies on your first playthrough, along with most if not all weapon and skill based trophies. Note that weapon upgrades are automatic and part of the story, so if you didn't manage to get enough kills with a particular weapon prior to the upgrade, you'll have to try again on another playthrough. Just something to keep in mind.

Another thing to note, is the Red Gems. Don't worry about finding all of them on your first time through but instead, take note of where you found them for subsequent playthroughs. Though you can if you want to find all of the Red Gems if possible, its not recommended, especially if you're playing on Normal or Hard. The higher the difficulty you're on, the more expensive it is sold from Christopher.

For a list of locations of the Red Gems scattered across the chapters, refer to the Red Gems Location Guide. For a few White Gem farming locations, refer to the High in Las Vegas trophy.

2) Finish the game a second time.

Begin your second playthrough on another difficulty. If you missed a few of the weapon and combat related trophies, now would be a good time to do them, so you don't have to worry about them on your final playthrough.

If you're playing on Easy, now would be a good time to find all of those Red Gems scattered across the game. Note that you'll need to perform a total of 80 upgrades; 36 Red Gems can be found throughout the game, the rest must be bought from Christopher. As mentioned before, the higher difficulty you're playing on, te more expensive it will be to buy them.

3) Finish the game for the third and final time.

On your third and final playthrough, pick the only difficulty setting left you have to play. This would be your final chance to clean up anything you may have missed.

TROPHY GUIDE

01.jpg

Fleming’s Pride (P)

Complete all game's Trophies

As with other games, collect all other trophies to unlock this trophy. Congrats!

Story Related Trophies

02.jpg You Go To Hell (B)

Start a new game for the first time. (any difficulty setting)

You'll earn this trophy almost right off the bat without realizing it. Boot up your game, and when you're asked to adjust the game's brightness settings, the trophy will pop.

Heck you won't even be choosing what difficulty to play on when this unlocks, so I have no idea why its even in the trophy description.

03.jpg An Ordinary Life (B)

Story Progression in Act 1 - Chapter 1 (any difficulty setting)

Story related. Cannot be missed. Unlocks upon completing Act 1-1.

After the initial cutscene, you'll make your way back to your apartment only to realize your girl Paula, is in danger. Another cutscene ensues and your apartment will get ambushed by demons. Serving as an in-game tutorial at the same time, simply follow the game's instructions and defeat them as they come.

After jumping your way to the Underworld, you'll be introduced to Johnson. You'll finally be given the option to make a save file and choose the difficulty setting. This trophy will unlock during this time.

04.jpg Take Me To Hell (B)

Story Progression in Act 2 - Chapter 1 (any difficulty setting)

Story related. Cannot be missed. Unlocks upon completing Act 2-1.

An introductory chapter of sorts, you'll learn about how to survive in the Underworld throughout the chapter. First and foremost, is the importance of our demon friend, Willy (aka. One Eyed William). As well as lighting up areas for you, he'll be serving as your checkpoint - though the use of his big smoky dumps.

In addition, during this chapter, you'll learn the importance of the following as well as unlocking their entry in the Johnsonpedia:

  • Light Shots
  • Goat Lamp
  • The Darkness
  • Drinks
  • Vending Machines and Red Gems
  • Darkness Vines (aka. Demon Pubes)
  • White and Red Gems
  • Blue and Red Cores

At the end of the chapter, you'll be introduced to the Darkness Hand. These enemies will constantly release darkness into the area until you defeat it. To stop it, shoot the dark core in the back of this area to open the vine covered gate, then its just a matter of slowly making your way through more gates until you reach a ladder. Climb up to the ledge above, then shove your Johnson into the Hand.

23.jpg Adios George (Human form) (B)

Defeat George Human Boss

Story related. Cannot be missed. Unlocks upon defeating the boss in Act 2-2.

Boss Tips:

Spoiler

Your first boss encounter in the game, and what better way to do so in a Mexican Marketplace!

Geroge will be chasing you and will be invulnerable, so your job is to run away from him, jumping over booths and stands. So how do you fight back? Well damaging him is simple. See those Barrels of Light you keep running accoss? Blow one up when he's standing next to one to knock him down, and he'll expose the weakpoint on his head. Unload a series of shots into his head before he gets back up. He'll run off, but not without ripping off a nearby Goat Head, covering the whole area into darkness. See that pillar of red light you see in the distance? That's where George is hiding. Make your way through the darkness, picking up Red Hearts, and when you finally find him behind a stand, fire a Light Shot at the Goat Head to light things back up.

Repeat this 3 times to finish the Harmonica playing lieutenant. You'll gain your first Blue Gem upgrade as well as your trophy.

05.jpg Cannibal Carnival (B)

Story Progression in Act 2 - Chapter 2 (any difficulty setting)

Story related. Cannot be missed. Unlocks upon completing Act 2-2.

You'll earn this trophy along with Adios George.

06.jpg What a Wonderful World (B)

Story Progression in Act 2 - Chapter 3 (any difficulty setting)

Story related. Cannot be missed. Unlocks upon completing Act 2-3.

During this chapter, you'll unlock the following entries in the Johnsonpedia:

  • Fireworks Launcher
  • Meat Gates
  • Christopher
  • Sushi Lamp

This will also be where you're introduced to Christopher, a half demon half human, your merchant in the game. Next to Vending Machines, this will be where you'll be spending those White Gems.

In the final area of this chapter, you'll get to have some fun swinging on a chandelier. Those phallic like objects you see on the side of the walls? Swing your chandelier towards them to destroy the core to slowly make your way upwards.

George wants revenge from the last battle, and what better way to do so by coming back to challenge you dual wielding a set of spears. Did I mention he's also riding a horse?

First Phase

Geroge will start things off by having his horse produce a vortex of darkness - through his butt. Your job is to head into the darkness and shoot the core on George's back while he runs around the courtyard. Once you nail in a sucessful hit, he'll collapse along with his horse exposing the red cores on the horse's stomach. Unload some bullets onto it before he gets back up. He'll then jump on top of the fountain and attempt to hurl spears at you. Dodge them, then shoot the red core on the horse. Repeat until his horse is defeated.

Second Phase

With his horse defeated, he'll now grow triple his size. See those red cores all over George's body? His only attack will be a large stomp, so simply avoid it by dodging and shoot out the cores as you do so. Destroying all the red cores will once again envelop the whole place in darkness. Shoot the tentacles coming out of his stomach before you succumb to the darkness to finally defeat him.

25.jpg Don't Fear the Reaper 1 (B)

Defeat Maras Grim (Sister Grim) Boss

Story related. Cannot be missed. Unlocked upon completing Act 3-1.

Boss Tips:

Spoiler

At the end of Act 3-1, you'll be ambushed by waves of Demons, followed by your first encounter with Armored Demons. Defeat them, and Maras Grim, the first Sister Grim, will make her appearance.

As with most bosses, she'll be invulnerable until you stun her. Avoid her scythe attacks until she does an overhead slam and pounds her scythe to the ground, resulting in the battlefield coveried in darkness. Instead of lighting up the Goat Head in the back, find her amidst the darkness and fire a Light Shot at her. Be quick though, as she'll be coming towards you. She'll be stunned, exposing the red core on her chest. Get in a few bullets in her chest, then simply repeat this process until she's defeated.

09.jpg My Dying Concubine (B)

Story Progression in Act 3 - Chapter 2 (any difficulty setting)

Story related. Cannot be missed. Unlocks upon completing Act 3-2.

Another straightforward chapter. This will be the chapter where you'll encounter the Big Demons, Hellmonkeys, with flashlight for eyes for the first time. To quickly take them out, rather then shoot out their eye, blind them by engulfing the area in darkness if possible instead.

You'll also run into your first Cyber Demon. Strategy wise, they're not much different than the regular Demons, only now they have armor covering their flesh. To take them out, unload a sticky payload from your Hot Boner to break their armor, then finish them off now that their flesh is exposed.

26.jpg Don't Fear the Reaper 2 (B)

Defeat Kauline Grim (Sister Grim) Boss

Story related. Cannot be missed. Unlocks upon defeating Kauline Grim.

Spoiler

After running away from a crazed out Paula, you'll fight the second Sister Grim, Pauline.

As with the previous battle with the sister, the same strategy still applies. Dodge her attacks, and wait till she does a overhead slam and engulfs the arena in darkness. Find her before she finds you, and stun her with a Light Shot. She'll expose a red core in her chest. After you destroy the red core on her chest once, she'll change things up by making multiples copies of herself. To find the real one, look for the one with the red core.

Well that was unexpected, kind of.

First Phase

The entire boss battle will take place on this long bridge. Wait till "Stinky Crow" swoops back down towards the bridge so you can get some clear shots in. When he takes a huge breathe and tilts his head backwards, thats your cue to dodge his spike attack. Occasionally, he'll shoot two red feathers onto the bridge, turning everything into darkness. To get rid of it, fire a Light Shot at it to dispel it.

Second Phase

Once you've destroyed the core on his chest, he'll come back up, this time with a few new attacks. He may now hurl boulders at you, which will knock you off if you get hit. If that happens, repeatedly press :square: to get back up. Occasionally, he'll now send smaller versions of himself to the lamp on the bridge, shadowing his figure. Get rid of them by using the torch. His weakpoints are now on his wings.

Third Phase

Finally, he'll now attack you on the bridge. Open up his stomach with a Light Shot to expose the red core. Dodge his claw attack. When he flies overhead you, press :cross: to do a 180 turn.

11.jpg The Bird's Nest (B)

12.jpg The Big Boner (B)

Story Progression in Act 4 - Chapter 1 (any difficulty setting)

Story related. Cannot be missed. Unlocks upon completing Act 4-1.

No doubt the best chapter in the entire game. Taking out enemies with your Big Boner, traversing the darkness with some eye candy, all very straightforward. Don't stay too long in the darkness though!

13.jpg Great Demon World Village (B)

Story Progression in Act 4 - Chapter 2 (any difficulty setting)

Story related. Cannot be missed. Unlocks upon completing Act 4-2.

Arguably the second best thing in the entire game, besides the previous chapter. What's a Suda51 game without a section like this? Everything you've learned applies to here as well, only now you do so in side scrolling form.

Aiming is done with the :rs:, shooting with :r1: (holding it to trigger rapid fire), :r2: for Light Shots. Note that you are able to aim upwards and downwards, but you not towards the left. If possible, try and collect all 50 Gems for a Red Gem as a reward.

14.jpg Ghost Hunter (B)

Story Progression in Act 4 - Chapter 3 (any difficulty setting)

Story related. Cannot be missed. Unlocks upon completing Act 4-3.

To defeat the teleporting demons, you must blow up the poles around the library with your Hot Boner. Once you've unloaded your sticky hot load into each stone, you'll nullify the electricity surrounding their bodies, allowing you to finish them off. Back away from them as soon as you do though, as they'll blow themselves up, electric force field style.

You'll eventually stumble upon a puzzle. You'll need to rearrange the shelves with your Light Shot, so that the balcony from the right connects to the left. The opening for the balcony to your right is on top, and the opening for the balcony on your left is on the bottom.

28.jpg Don't Fear the Reaper 3 (B)

Defeat Giltine Grim (Sister Grim) Boss

Story related. Cannot be missed. Unlocks upon defeating the boss in Act 4-3.

Boss Tips:

Spoiler

The Eldest sister of the Sister Grim, she'll prove to be quite a challenging boss fight compared to the previous ones.

She will wield not one but two scythes, and will have 3 different attacks:

  • She'll throw a scythe at you one at a time that will home in on you one by one
  • She'll throw both her scythes in the air splitting into 6 different ones, and hurl them towards you
  • A shockwave attack

In order to damage her, you'll need to shoot at the red core on her head. Once that's destroyed, she'll spill out darkness, and expose another red core on her torso. Damage the core on her chest as much as you can, preferably with The Teethgrinder, before dispelling the darkness by using the Goat Head in the back.

Repeat 2 more times and she'll be dead.

15.jpg Great Demon World Forest (B)

Story Progression in Act 4 - Chapter 4 (any difficulty setting)

Story related. Cannot be missed. Unlocks upon completing Act 4-4.

Similar to the 4-2, aside from the action getting more hectic, everything's the same, so the same strategy applies here as well.

16.jpg Suburban Nightmares (B)

Story Progression in Act 4 - Chapter 5 (any difficulty setting)

Story related. Cannot be missed. Unlocks upon completing Act 4-5.

Your new weapon, The Dentist will prove to be very useful against those Masked Demons. You'll also run into a new enemy, armored demons that burrow themselves underground. Wait for them to come spinning at you then dodge; they'll knock themselves over and expose the core on their chest. Destroy the core, preferably with the Skullfest 9000 to make quick work of them.

Not what I expected, but this boss battle will take place entirely in the form of a side scroller.

Shoot the three red cores on Justine's mask, avoiding the green acid she constantly releases over top of you from the machine on her back. Note that you can destroy the acid drops, you don't have to just dodge them. Once the three cores are gone, she'll reveal yet another mask, which can only be damaged by Light Shots. Destroy that, and she'll finally reveal her face. She'll change things up a notch, grasping you with her hands. This attack is unavoidable, so just keep shooting at her head until she throws you away. Occasionally, a Teether or the Big Boner might appear on the top of the screen to help your aid. Simply keep shooting at her and she'll eventually go down.

18.jpg Twelve Feet Under (B)

Story Progression in Act 5 - Chapter 1 (any difficulty setting)

Story related. Cannot be missed. Unlocks upon completing Act 5-1.

After defeating the electrified crazed demon and some more enemies, you'll need to open a vine covered gate to proceed. Open the baby gate in the back, then turn around. Notice how the red core is inside the green barriers? Use your newly acquired Skullblaster and launch one from within the darkness to destroy the core.

You'll also run into your first Blindness Hand. Unlike the Darkness Hands, they can only be defeated by destroying the big red cores on the ground located somewhere in the stage. Follow the blue veins to get to them.

19.jpg Different Perspectives (B)

Story Progression in Act 5 - Chapter 2 (any difficulty setting)

Story related. Cannot be missed. Unlocks upon completing Act 5-2.

You'll be fighting many enemies for the first part of this chapter, so do whatever you do best and take them down. Make use of the Barrels of Light outside if you need them. 2 of those Generator Demons as I like to call them will eventually spawn. The best way to take them out is to fire a Hot Boner at them then blow that up to destroy all the red vials on their backs.

The second part, requires you to move Tetris like blocks in order to progress. For the record, you can move them left and right, but also upwards and downwards. There's only one possible path you can take anyways, so solving them should be easy enough.

20.jpg The Castle of Hassle (B)

Story Progression in Act 5 - Chapter 3 (any difficulty setting)

The first part of this level is pretty straightforward; defeat enemies, go up a level in the tower, repeat. The second part however, puts you into a little maze of some sorts. The "maze" is actually pretty linear, so make your way through each darkness portal until you find the strawberry. Open the baby gate, go up an elevator to complete the level.

30.jpg I Defeated the Last Big Boss! (S)

Defeat Fleming Boss

Story related. Cannot be missed. Unlocks upon defeating the boss in Act 5-4.

And what better way to finish things off than on the top of tower.

Fleming's attacks will consists of the following:

  • A laser beam, his eyes will glow and tilt back before firing
  • A shockwave attack, he'll twirl himself into the air before slamming his "instrument" down on the ground

Occasionally, he'll open up his cape revealing either Paula (don't shoot her), or spew darkness into the area. To counter the darkness, shoot the Goat Head chandelier on top of you.

To reveal Flemings' weakpoint, keep shooting at him, preferably with the Skullblaster to conserve your ammo, until you crack his armor. He'll stop attacking, stunned, which you can then fire a Hot Boner at him to destroy it, splitting his body into three parts. While his body parts circles around the area attempting to regenerate, you should notice that one of his body parts will be glowing red. Shoot at it until he regenerates, then repeat the process until you've dealt enough damage to that part of the body. The trick to damaging the body parts while they're circling around the area, is to use The Dentist's homing capabilities, staying as far back as possible and keeping your crosshair on it until it turns red.

As the battle progresses, he'll begin to use different attacks as well:

  • A second laser beam attack, that will sweep around the arena and follow you
  • He'll produce a green force field, which you must fire a Demon Skull into one of the three openings to break it
  • He'll reveal a dark hand under his cloak, which we'll imprison you in area filled with darkness if it was able to grab you. To get out, blow up one of the three doors in the back with your Hot Boner until you find the exit

Additionally, the Goat Head chandelier will also move swing faster and faster, making it difficult for you to get a clear Light Shot at it.

Weaken each of the three body parts of Fleming to finally finish him off.

Spoiler

Defeat Paula Boss

Story related. Cannot be missed. Save Paula from her anger to unlock this trophy.

First Phase

Before doing anything else, grab the key in the middle, and try it on each of the baby gates until you get one open. Once that's taken care of, only then should you focus on Paula. As always, take out the weakpoints, which in this case are her wings. Cause she's moving so fast, The Dentist is very useful here. Her attacks are simple to avoid, so just keep dodging and shooting until you've weakened her wings. She'll constantly spawn enemies into the area, which you can simply kill them until she spawns another one, or just ignore them. If they're proving to be a nuisance, kill them with the Skullblaster.

Second Phase

This time, the entire battle will take place amidst a infinite long corridor. Darkness will continually engulf the area behind you, so don't stop moving! Do the same thing as with the previous phase shoot at her wings with The Dentist. Avoid her attacks all the same, especially her whirlwind attack. Though it won't damage you, it'll spin you in place and cause you to face the other way.

Destroy all four of her wings to end the battle.

Note that you need to walk up to Paula and press :square: to fully end the fight and the game.

Difficulty Related Trophies

32.jpg Lemon Hunter (B)

Complete all chapters on Easy difficulty setting

See Legion Hunter for details.

33.jpg Demon Hunter (B)

Complete all chapters on Medium difficulty setting

See Legion Hunter for details.

34.jpg Legion Hunter (G)

Complete all chapters on Hard difficulty setting

Difficulty in this game is split into the following:

  • Lemon Hunter - Easy
  • Demon Hunter - Medium
  • Legion Hunter - Hard

Unlike other games, the difficulty related trophies in this game don't stack, so you'll need to complete this game a total of three times. There also isn't an New Game+ option unfortunately, so any upgrades you've done on previous will not carry over; you'll be starting from scratch for each playthrough.

Simply beat the game in the difficulties listed above to unlock their respective trophy. The trophies will unlock during the credits.

Tips:

  • Aside from damage upgrades, don't upgrade your arsenal unless you really need to, particularly your health or a weapon's ammo capacity. Upgrading your health will automatically heal you to full, and ammo for weapons. Very useful if you want to save up on Drinks or White Gems
  • Unless you're in desperate need for alcohol, save all your White Gems for Red Gems. You'll need all the extra money you can get especially if you're working towards High in Las Vegas
  • Alcohol and Ammo can be found within the breakable barrels and boxes you come across in each chapter. For the sake of conserving ammo, break them open with your Hot Boner or the Light Shot
  • If you're trying to conserve booze, just kill yourself or quit out of the game right after a checkpoint. Load back up the game and you'll be restored to full health
  • Running low on ammo? Perform a Brutal Kill instead
  • Weapons wise, focus on upgrading the damage before anything else. The Concusioner (and the upgrades after it) and the Torch alone will get you through most of the game

Collectible Related Trophies

Save more than 300 White Gems in your inventory

White Gems serve as the currency in this game. Those vending machines and items on Christopher you run into each chapter? You use them to buy this.

As the description says, you must have 300 or more White Gems in your inventory at once in order to unlock this trophy. If you've been saving up since you started up the game, you'll unlock this near the beginning of Act 3-1.

Or, here's an glitch you can exploit in Act 4-3:

DefectivePanda for the video

51.jpg High in Las Vegas (G)

Recover all available Red Gems in the game.

"Performance Enhancers", as Johnson likes to call them are what is used to upgrade Garcia's and your weapon's performances. Red Gems can be found throughout the course of the game, as well as purchased off from Christopher once you meet him.

Note that the trophy description is a bit misleading. Finding all of the Red Gems scattered throughout the game will not unlock it. In order to unlock it, you need to upgrade everything through the use of 80 Red Gems.

You will need a total of 80 Red Gems in order to upgrade everything. However, only a total of 36 Gems can be found scattered across the chapters, so you'll need to get the rest by buying them off of Christopher. Note that Christopher will have an infinite supply of Red Gems for you to purchase, so don't worry if you missed a few.

For a list of locations of the Red Gems scattered across the chapters, refer to the Red Gems Location Guide.

If you farming White Gems ain't your thing, and would prefer to just get this trophy over with, not to mention break the game (the game's easy enough as it already is!), you can perform this glitch:

TheProfessionalDecoy for the video

https://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/members/olsen77-albums-ps3t-stuff-picture4923-postline.png

White Gem Farming Locations:

For each of the following locations, you can choose to earn as many White Gems as you can or keep going until you hit 999 (max amount you can carry at one time). Kill your enemies by shooting their legs off followed by a stomp attack to earn the most amount of Gems possible on each defeated enemy. There will be at least one ammo box for you to use to replenish your ammo.

Note that should you die during farming, any Gems you obtained will be gone and will have to be earned again since nothing will be saved until you reached the next checkpoint.

Act 2-3

Shortly after meeting Christopher, you'll come across a graveyard in which you'll be introduced to your first three-headed demon. Enemies will constantly spawn from the darkness until you destroy the three red cores around it.

Act 3-2

Same location as suggested for Nasty Headache.

Act 4-3

You'll run into a one of a kind armored demon. Light Shot it until he falls down, then repeatedly mash :square: to perform a stomp attack on it over and again for an infinite amount of White Gems, until you cap at 999 that is.

44.jpg Nasty Headache (B)

Perform 5 Head Shots in a row with any weapon except Big Boner

As the trophy description says, you'll need to perform 5 head shots in a row with any weapon except the Big Boner, so use another weapon such as The Teether. You'll know you've performed a head shot when a slow motion camera effect triggers. If you shot a Demon's head off but the camera effect didn't occur, it won't count. Note that you can miss a shot and it'll still count towards your five in a row, provided your bullets don't hit the Demons anywhere else.

If you want to do it early on, you can do this in the very beginning of the game, when your apartment gets overrun with demons. Things won't be as chaotic and they'll slowly come at you, so take your time. Though keep in mind there's only a limited amount of demons before the game automatically continues.

The best place to earn this is during Act 3-2. After facing your first Cyber Demon, make your way back towards the bridge. The bridge will collapse and you'll fall into the water. In order to progress, you'll need to find Paula who is drowning somewhere in this body of water. Instead of of looking for here, run around until Demons start coming towards you; they will be coming towards you in groups of three. Demons will keep spawning in this area until you reach Paula so keep practicing your head shots until you get your 5 in a row.

A little trick I learned to use, was to wait for one of them to come at you with a slash or a jump kick. Dodge backwards then quickly aim with your weapon. They should stay still long enough for you to aim at their head before they attack again. Try your best to keep your distance, but not too close.

OR, if you're really having trouble, you can abuse this cheap trick during Act 3-2. Should be self explanatory enough:

Perform five head shots in a row, and the trophy will pop.

45.jpg The Puppeteer (S)

Perform a Head Shot right after a Leg Mutilation when the enemy is flying back in the air

This is one of the harder trophies in the game next to Nasty Headache.

As per the trophy description, you'll need to shoot off a Demon's legs then quickly kill it with a head shot while it's still in the air. Note that the slow motion camera effect does not and probably won't trigger; so that's not required for the trophy. An easy way to earn this is with The Teethgrinder. Get close, but not too close, and fire at a demon's leg, and when you shoot them off, aim upwards just a bit towards their head while they're still in the air. With any luck, you'll shoot off their head, earning you the trophy.

There's no real strategy to this trophy other than to practice, practice, practice until you get it. Once you're able to pull it off, the trophy will unlock. Be glad you only had to that once!

41.jpg A Hole in your Head (S)

Perform 5 headshots in a row with the BIG BONER

Unlike the other weapons, you'll only get to use the Big Boner in Act 4-1.

A sort of mini-game, you'll have several streets to take care of. Hellmonkey's will slowly make their way towards you. Switch screens with :l2: and :r2:, and :r3: to aim your laser sight around. The easiest way to do this is to move your laser sight in a position where their heads will move towards. Fire once they're within range. Note that you don't necessarily have to shoot them dead on in their heads, as long as the shot was hit somewhere in the head area, it'll count. You'll know its a successful headshot when you see the blood effect and they'll die in one hit. Though you'll get 3 chances to earn this trophy, try to earn it in the first section as things aren't as chaotic.

Take your pole for a stroll and get 5 head shots in a row with the Big Boner, and the trophy will unlock. Shame you don't get to keep it (for obvious reasons).

49.jpg Drunk in Public (B)

Knock back 3 drinks in a row

Healing items in this game takes the form of booze. Contrary to real life, drinking vodka or other forms of alcohol will heal you in the Underworld.

Hot Sake - :triangle:+

Tequila - :triangle:+:right:

Absinthe - :triangle:+:left:

After being introduced to your first bottle of booze in Act 2-1, they'll start appearing throughout the game for you to collect. To chug a bottle, hold :triangle: and select a drink of your choice with the D-Pad. Pressing :l2: again and you'll knock back another drink.

Simply collect three bottles or more and chug them down in a row to unlock the trophy. Note that you are not required to be damaged for this to count.

46.jpg Fire in the Hole! (B)

Defeat 3 enemies at once using the Barrels of Light

Barrels of Light are those barrels leaking with light you run across throughout the game. They contain pressurized light, therefore making them highly explosive.

Your very first chance to earn this will be during Act 2-1, when you're first introduced to the Barrels of Light. After opening the gate covered with Darkness Vines (aka. Demon Pubes), you'll be locked inside a small courtyard and be pitted against four demons. Shoot the Goat Head in the back to light back this place up, then lure the demons beside the barrels. Blow up one to get rid of the darkness covering them up, then another to finally finish them off. If you killed 3 enemies at once, you'll unlock the trophy.

A much easier way however, is during Act 2-3. After meeting Christopher, you'll be introduced to the Sushi Lamp. Light Shot it then follow him around the corner, and you'll face 3 demons. Shoot the Barrels of Light behind them.

47.jpg Fiesta Caliente! (B)

Defeat 5 enemies at once using the Hot Boner

Your Boner will get an automatic upgrade to the Hot Boner at the end of Act 3-2. Serving as your secondary fire, to use it, aim with the :l1: as usual and hold :r2:. Releasing the trigger will produce a mine, which you can then fire a bullet to it to make it explode.

Earning this trophy is not a matter of difficulty, by finding a place where five enemies will spawn at once at the same time. In this case, you'll reach one of these rare occurances near the end of Act 3-3. Shortly after earning the Skullfest 9000, go through the gate and you'll see five to seven demons coming out of a cave. Place a well aimed sticky load, and blow it up hopefully killing at least 5 enemies in the blast.

Because enemies take fewer hits to die in lower difficulties, consider doing this trophy on Demon Hunter (Normal) or lower.

48.jpg Trash'em while they're out! (B)

Perform all 5 brutal kills on Normal Demons frozen by the Light Shot

In order to perform a Brutal Kill, you must first fire a Light Shot (:l1:+:r2:) to stun a demon. Once they're stunned, quickly run up to them and press :square: to perform it.

The type of Brutal Kill you perform is completely determined by random, so you'll have to keep performing Brutal Kills until you perform all five.

The 5 unique Brutal Kills are:

  1. A kick in the crotch, followed by a swing of your torch, decapitating the head
  2. A three knee combo to a demon's head
  3. A two punch combo
  4. A headbutt
  5. Shoving your Johnson into their throat

Once you've performed all five at least once, the trophy will automatically unlock.

Red Gems Location Guide

LDlHY8b.png

Red Gem text locations was composed entirely by neosnake101

"Performance Enhancers", as Johnson likes to call them are what is used to upgrade Garcia's and your weapon's performances. Red Gems can be found throughout the course of the game, as well as purchased off from Christopher once you meet him.

You will need a total of 80 Red Gems in order to upgrade everything and earn the High in Las Vegas trophy. However, only a total of 36 Gems can be found scattered across the chapters, so you'll need to get the rest by buying them off of Christopher. Note that Christopher will have an infinite supply of Red Gems for you to purchase, so don't worry if you missed a few.

Price of Red Gems from Christopher:

  • Lemon Hunter (Easy) - 45 White Gems
  • Demon Hunter (Normal) - 75 White Gems
  • Legion Hunter (Hard) - 120 White Gems

As such, it is advised you attempt to grab all 80 upgrades on your Easy playthrough, since they cost the least. Since there is no chapter select or a New Game+ option, you will have to grab the Red Gems all in one playthrough.

One thing to note, is that there is a little trick you can use to get the same Red Gem twice. Every time you enter area where a Red Gem and Willy are in the same room, you can grab it, trigger Willy's, erm, checkpoint, quit the game, and continue from your checkpoint. The Red Gem will be there again, but the one you picked up earlier will have been saved. However, if you're going to use this location guide along with the farming opportunities in the High in Las Vegas description, this won't be necessary.

If a text guide ain't your thing, here's a video guide for the Red Gems:

Locations of the Red Gems is as follows:

Act 2-1 - Take Me to Hell

(5 Red Gems)

  • When Garcia asks about Underworld Pub and you get a new Johnsonpedia entry about Vending Machines, you'll have to go down the stairs on right side and kill some demons to get Eyeball key. There will be your first 3 red gems. There will also be a small cutscene about them so these are pretty much unmissable.
  • After you see Fleming's hand dropping darkness covered demons, red gem will be behind a stone pillar in the direction where goat head is hanged.
  • Shortly after previous one you'll see a cutscene where dark demons start to spawn from corpses and you'll have to shoot the goat head to stop respawning. After that fight, break the wooden doors on your left. One will contain a strawberry. Use the strawberry on the door with baby which you passed a while ago (it's at opposite side of opera poster). A red gem will be your reward.

Act 2-3 - What a Wonderful World

(5 Red Gems)

  • Go up the wooden stairs, which is near the poster "Teeth Kill!", after you jump from the window go right. There will be a red gem. (After you get this one, there will be a small cutscene about a phone call. Game will save soon after. Now you can quit the game and select continue from main menu. You will be back at that same spot but if you go back to this gem's location, there will be another one for your extra upgrade.)
  • During the chandelier sequence, kill the enemies crawling on the walls for 2 more Red Gems. - SigmaCloud
  • After the chandelier sequence it will be right in front of you if you get all white gems.

Act 3-1 - It's a Bughunt

(3 Red Gems)

  • At the beginning of the chapter, you'll reach to a door on your right which leads to Merch- i mean Christopher who is waiting for your white gems. Go through that door and red gem will be in the garden, left of Christopher.
  • In the sewers, you'll find a strawberry and some crawling demons will attack you. Now instead of going back to door with baby, continue forward. You'll see some demons jumping to the left. You'll reach a dead end and find a red gem on your left side along with some boxes.
  • Once you reach to the cracked wall, use your Hot Boner on the smaller cracked door on your right. There will be a red gem behind it.

Act 3-2 - My Dying Concubine

(4 Red Gems)

  • As you exit the tunnel you'll see a log on your left with cracks on it. Simply use the Hot Boner to clear the path and do it again on the cracked wall in front of you. Red gem will be inside.
  • When you reach the cages, there will be a small path right in front of the cage with crawling demon. Go there and get your red gem.
  • After 2nd collapsing bridge, go towards Paula. Red gem will be behind a cracked log on far left.
  • After using the brain, you'll watch a cutscene of Paula running inside a cave. Don't follow her yet and go right instead. Blow the cracked wall and claim your prize.

Act 3-3 - As Evil As Dead

(3 Red Gems)

  • You'll have to be quick for this one. As chase starts, you'll see a lamp hanging in the corner a little ahead. Under it you will see a barrel. Shoot the barrel and get it before enemy touches you (it's a one-hit kill)
  • You can get this after you beat second Grim sister. You'll find yourself in darkness. When in the darkness, the path will split into two. You have to go straight to get rid of the darkness but first go right and get the gem.
  • Follow sushi lamp. Eventually you'll reach to a place with 5 barrels. 4 barrels will be together and there will be a lone barrel. Red gem is inside that lone one. If you couldn't find the location, it's right across Ash's log cabin.

Act 4-2 - Great Demon World Village

(1 Red Gem)

  • Collect all white gems in the level. By first checkpoint, you should have 18, by second, 21 (also 5 more appear right above the checkpoint). You'll find 32 before you reach the end and at the end there will be 18 more, 50 in total.

Act 4-3 - Ghost Hunter

(5 Red Gems)

  • While you are in Gluttony (you can check which circle you are in by looking at signs on the wall) you will find a goat head, which will disperse small fraction of darkness. From that goat head continue on to a dead end and a red gem (it's in the same corridor where you destroy a dark core) Be aware though, even it's not that far, you'll be in darkness, so you will start to lose health.
  • Next one will be in Heresy. You'll find it on left side of the sign.
  • As you continue on, there will be 3 cracked doors in this area (Violence). Red gem will be behind door number 2, inside one of the boxes at the back.
  • 3rd cracked door also contains a red gem. Go inside and break the boxes on your right. Do this before shooting the light barrels in front of the door though.
  • In Fraud, library becomes dark, so a sushi lamp comes for your aid. Go into the corridor where sushi lamp came from and run till the end. You'll notice a booze bottle and light barrel. Now make a U-turn and sidestep to your left. Red gem will be in front of you in the distance.

Act 4-4 - Great Demon World Forest

(1 Red Gem)

  • Same as 4-2. This time, you should have 14 gems by first checkpoint, 28 by second. There will be 4 more right after that checkpoint and 18 more at the end like before.

Act 4-5 - Suburban Nightmares

(3 Red Gems)

  • Before you blow up second cracked wall, go through the wooden bridge on its left. There will be a dead end with a barrel. Shoot the barrel for your next upgrade.
  • In village when darkness strikes, light the fireworks and disperse the darkness. Next to the fireworks you'll find a cracked door. You guessed it.
  • Behind Christopher's house, blow up cracked wall, go inside the darkness and destroy dark cores to unlock the small hut which contains the red gem.

Act 4-6 - Justine For All

(1 Red Gem)

  • Yet another one of these sequences. This one is same as 4-2 and 4-4. This time 12 by first checkpoint, 20 by second, 38 by last and 41 by the end of this chapter. Hotspur will get the last 9 on his own.

Act 5-1 - Twelve Feet Under

(3 Red Gems)

  • This one is in the same room as a new type of demon that breaks metal bars and attacks you. It's inside a barrel next to green glowing wall.
  • You will enter a circular room to get Eyeball key. A demon will attack you. Defeat it and red gem will be inside a wooden crate where the demon came from.
  • Next one can be found in a barrel in a room filled with darkness and a dark core, which you have to destroy using Skullblaster's ability.

Act 5-2 - Different Perspectives

(4 Red Gems)

  • When you reach Moor Pu Dekcuf, use first controller box you see and turn it right, right, up. This will reveal the red gem.
  • A second one is in an area accessible after shooting the goat head on a spinning block and clearing away the enemies; it's next to a bottle of Absinthe.
  • From where you got that second one, if you go down the nearby flight of steps you'll find the third.
  • Last one is on one of the last rotating blocks. - VirsagoUK and 8BitArtist

-Last Christopher point-

Act 5-3 - The Castle of Hassle

(3 Red Gems)

  • You will play a little Skullblaster Pachinko after your first darkness section. Simply kill 2 demons inside the giant Pachinko and red gem will appear before the exit.
  • Next one will be right after 2nd darkness section. Climb up the spinal stairs and shoot the barrel on your left.
  • Inside the maze go through middle gate and through left one after the cutscene. Red gem will be inside the barrel in right corner.

Should this guide even be valid right now with so much marked as "in progress" and the rest of the information being fairly vague in places?

Incidentally, I did the "Blood on the Dance Floor" and "Nasty Headache" trophies in the Chapter 1 prologue. You have seemingly infinite health in that chapter and the demons come at you 1-2 at a time so it's easy to take your time and line-up your shots. There are roughly 10-11 enemies in the prologue, so you have enough to stomp in one run. Then just quit out and start a new game again to go through the prologue again for the 5 headshot trophy. It's pretty easy, and it gets those trophies out of the way early.

This guide looks top notch, Breadskin. I'm sad this game doesn't support New Game Plus and the Difficulty trophies don't stack. I'm going to have to play the game at some point. Nice to know a guide will be up when I'm ready to get to it.

I like the game producer--Shinji Mikami. He is the man!!!!

So 3 playthoughs is no the problem:applause::applause::dance::dance:

You no doubt put together some of the best trophy guides on this site and I thank you for taking the time to do so. The one for InFamous 2 looks top notch as well and im probably gon start my playthrough this weekend.

Its too bad the difficulties dont stack. I dont mind playing through a game, even a good game twice. But 3 times is pushing it. thats why I refuse to platinum the POP HD games.

A guide does not need to be finished to be posted. You can post what you have and edit it as much as you need to complete it. This also gives everybody, especially mods to provide feedback to assist in the member to help in finishing the guide. When finally finished, the mods will evaluate it and give it that all important "STICKY". Bread has done many great guides, he knows what he's doing.

I can see that your new so I will give you some slack. But instead of downing someones hard work, compliment them and provide any imput you have. If it is valid, they will put in the guide and provide credit to you.

BTW Bread this one is off to a great start so keep up the good work.

Hi just want to say that u can shoot in the air (miss) so long as u dont hit other demons. For the Nasty headache trophy

Location: as the guide says

Tip:

  1. Go option change Aiming speed to the lowest 1 bar
  2. Aim and Use R3 (makes you aim at the head level at where your camera view is pointed) and wait till demons head come by your crosshair and fire. (took me 10 tries :S)

on the side note, the music are well made even the loading tune.

A good place for A Nasty Headache is in the Prologue. I've attempted it, but have not gotten it... but, IT is much easier than doing it later in the game. The enemies don't rush you in the very first Act of the game where you meet Fleming for the first time.

Secondly, a GREAT place to obtain Fiesta Caliente! is in Act 4-3 after you've gone through the Darkness the first time (I believe), shoot the Goat lamp and 6 enemies will spawn. Perfect time to whip out the Big Boner, charge a sticky. Fire when 5 enemies are in the globe. So much easier.

True, but I spent almost a good hour trying for the trophy in the lake where the enemies infinitely spawn and it was hard as hell to accomplish because of the constant rush.

Heh, thanks for the compliments! As you can see I'm still in the process of updating a few things, so it won't be till a few days more before everything is complete.

I'm aware some information is all over the place. Checking grammar and corrections, I'll keep that for last.

I'm assuming you're adding more info to the guide? You don't need spoiler tags for "story related, cannot be missed."

Yes sorry. I know this was one of those situations where I posted the guide a little early. Rest assured though that I'm constantly updating this.
