About the game: Developed by VBLANK entertainment inc., this game is an homage to the 8 bit games of the 1980s as well as developed as an 8 bit game for both your PS3 and Vita. Through misadventure, you are taken forward in time and have to help fix a time machine in order to get back to your own time. This is an open world game with a plethora of parodies and satirical themes from the late 80's to early 90's added to all aspects of the game.

Unfortunately it has many technical issues with the statistics and cross saving feature, so steps must be taken to 100% the game safely in one playthrough without having to replay any levels.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Play all story missions up until you reach the mission Rampage Retaliation: Death Cam VHS

You will be forced into this mission from the previous one, so you will have to die and press :circle: to stop the mission. Head back to Doc's house and save there, where you will also be able to start the mission back up. You will then need to complete this mission without dying. Refer to Death Cam, No Death on how to earn this trophy.

On the first battle screen, the bottom wall is also an invisible wall needed for Daily Grind Make sure you walk in to it before completing this trophy.

Upon completing Step 1 you will have earned:

  • (B)Death Cam, No Death
  • (S)Tool Time

Step 2: Continue playing until you reach the set of missions Death Castle of Doom!

Make a save here and refer to the Collectables Guide on how and where to collect loot bags 31 and 32. Make sure you have these two items, then continue forward to complete the story.

Step 3: Return to the open map after defeating the final boss and finish finding any collectables remaining

You will also be unlocking any of the few slaughter sprees you still have locked at this point. Refer to A Winner Is You! on how to unlock these sprees.

Upon completing Step 3 you will have earned:

  • (S)Daily Grind

Step 4: From the main menu, choose Play Arcade Challenges and earn a gold medal in all 14 slaughter sprees

Choose only slaughter sprees. Secondary ones do not count the trophy.

Upon completing Step 4 you will have earned:

  • (G)A Winner Is You!

Step 5: Choose Play Free Roaming Mode from the main menu and select any of the guest stars available

In this step you will be cleaning up any remaining trophies and/or earning your final trophy for playing as the guest star.

Upon completing Step 5 you will have earned:

  • (B)The Cosplayer
  • (B)You Broke The Law!
  • (B)Broken Chain
  • (B)Feeling Groggy
  • (B)Rocky Road Tire Crunch
  • (B)8-bit Overflow
  • (B)Eco-friendly Fire
  • (B)Bike Bounce
  • (B)Dance Player, Dance

Trophies:

EE5.jpg  You Broke The Law! (B)

Raise your threat level by committing a crime that attracts police attention

You can earn this easily by attacking any character on the street, or stealing cars until the police notice you and start giving chase. You only need the lowest threat level available. Just play through the first mission in the game and you will unlock this. You can see your threat meter on the right side of your HUD. It's dark when you aren't wanted and changes to coloured blocks as soon as you are.

BB3.jpg  Broken Chain (B)

Reach a 99X chain multiplier

This trophy isn't quite clear, as in the games statistics menu it's listed as SINGLE TRIGGER Chain!. What's expected of you is to kill 99 people without letting go of your trigger on your weapon. Since this is nearly impossible to do with hand weapons, you're going to have to get yourself a tank.

To get a tank, you will need to raise your threat level to its maximum level so the army will be called after you. The safest way to raise the threat level is to steal a car and start running over everyone you see. Aim for as many police as you can to help raise it faster. As your threat level raises, the weapons used against your vehicle get stronger, so keep an eye on the cars armor level. When it's low on armor, quickly find another vehicle and steal it to continue your rampage until tanks start to appear. When they do, run over any soldiers surrounding the tank then jump out of your vehicle and steal the tank.

Now that you have your tank, hold down :square: to fire missiles and do not let go. Start driving anywhere you feel really, as the tank has very high armor so freely just shoot everyone in your path. If you stop firing at any point you will reset your chain counter. Keep shooting until this trophy unlocks.

5B8.jpg  Feeling Groggy (B)

Get "sick" on "milk"

Anything that gets you intoxicated in the game counts towards this trophy. Not just "milk." So grog will work as well. There are numerous places in the game to purchase these items, but the preferred place to earn this is at a Grog2Go vending machine found in Primate Peninsula Zone beside Grogbrush's bar. Choosing this location will earn your trophy as well as unlock a slaughter spree needed for later. The story will take you to this location, just remember to purchase the grog while you are there. Press :triangle: in front of the vending machine to purchase it.

The story will also take you to a milk bar early on the game if you wish to earn this one sooner. Enter the milk bar you are standing in front of when the missions starts and press :triangle: in front of the bartender to order a drink.

5EB.jpg  The Cosplayer (B)

Play Free Roaming Mode as one of the guest stars

As you play through story mode you will unlock guest stars to play with in free roam. 3 are story related and the other 3 you will earn by completing certain tasks. You only need to pick one and play with them once. As soon as one is available to play with, you can use them right away in free roam. The trophy will unlock shortly after starting free roam with your selected guest star.

43C.jpg  Rocky Road Tire Crunch (B)

Hit 25 pedestrians in a row with your car without stopping

You must go very fast for this, in a straight line and hit absolutely nothing other than pedestrians. This includes other cars, rocket fire, mailboxes, lamps or anything that slightly slows you down at all. Turning also stops the combo, so make sure your straight line stays straight.

You can earn this trophy early in the game during the mission Doc Choc's Magic Clocks: Hit 88 pedestrians for POWER! Save your game before starting this mission. If you start it before saving, just kill yourself and press :circle: to exit the mission so you can save and restart the mission from your marker.

Take the Delorean and head north to reach the long horizontal road that runs across the map. Turn right here and head east to the dead end on the side of the map. Don't run over any pedestrians yet and avoid police attention. Turn around at the dead end to head back west, the way you came. This time go along the sidewalk all the way to the western end of the road where you will reach another dead end. Make sure to run over the pedestrians along the way now to build up your cars charge and make certain that you clear every obstacle on the sidewalk by running it over. Clearing the road first is essential.

Turn around at the other dead end and head back east again straight down the path you just cleared. The pedestrians will respawn, the obstacles won't and your car should now be fast enough to get a 25x combo. If you don't get it on this pass, you may get it on your third if you don't finish the mission first. If you don't get it at all, reload your game and try again. The game sometimes spawns less pedestrians then it normally should.

If you passed this mission already, equip a regular fast car with nitro from a garage and use the same method above, or wait until the end of the game when you earn complete use of the Delorean. Do not replay the mission due to the glitch mentioned here, Glitch Information

mjc0961 has provided a video to show exactly how this can be done. The road highlighted orange is the one you will use. The green road is your starting point at the beginning of the mission.

A76.jpg  8-bit Overflow (B)

Kill 256 civilians within a single life

Very simple. Just steal any car and start running people over. On the far eastern side of the map you will find Stadium Zone (North of Doc's house). The east side of the stadium has a large parking lot with a decent amount of spawning pedestrians. Drive around the parking lot here to quickly increase your total without too much hassle from police vehicles. If your threat meter starts to get too high for your liking, there is a silver coin along the wall of the stadium you can drive over to lower it. If your car's armor gets low, find a clear space to steal another car and continue. Once you kill 256, the trophy is yours.

You can just as easily drive back and forth across a long sidewalk over civilians but you will have more police to contend with that way. Choice is yours.

0DE.jpg  Eco-friendly Fire (B)

Hit 4 people with a single shotgun blast

When you play in free roam, you have full ammo on all your unlocked guns. All guns are available after unlocking the ammunition shop early in story mode. To save yourself from having to find/buy a shotgun or ammo, do this in free roam. Simply select your shotgun and look for larger crowds of people. Larger crowds are easier to find near the beach or parks. The gated community on the far west of the map also tends to have large crowds. The story mission Rampage Retaliation: Death Cam, VHS will provide you with many opportunities to unlock this one also.

If you are having trouble finding a large crowd, raise your threat meter so the police will start chasing you. Lure the police to a crowd, or wait until you have at least 4 police behind you, then turn around and shoot at them all. mjc0961 has provided a video on how to earn this, using the police method in free roam.

2BE.jpg  Bike Bounce (B)

Knock someone off their bike to ricochet another off theirs

As you drive around the map, keep an eye out for a motorcyclist driving behind another motorcyclist. When you do, drive up behind them and hit the one in the back and quickly brake. The driver should fly forward off his bike into the next, knocking that driver off his bike as well, unlocking this trophy for you. This works just as well if they are side by side also. Stop lights are common places to find bikes grouped together.

Make sure the 2 bikes aren't too close together either or the driver will likely just fly over the top of the second rather then hitting him. Brake after hitting the first bike or you risk being the one who hits the next bike and/or killing the driver instead.

I suggest leaving this one until you are close to, or finished, the game as it's actually trickier than it sounds. Its hard to control the distance the driver will fly and they don't always end up flying straight either. You're likely to earn it naturally just by playing, so don't stress over it too much until the end.

7BB.jpg  Dance Player, Dance! (B)

Avoid the cops at maximum threat level for 1 minute on foot, without taking damage

Use the method mentioned in Broken Chain to see how to raise your threat level to maximum. Once the meter is full, drive to any spot with a small building that has a wide amount of walking space all around it. Jump out of your car in an open area close to it then don't stop running and keep on jumping.

Sway back and forth as you jump while circling around the small building you chose and the police/army will have trouble targeting you for a shot, thereby rarely taking one and just try to keep up behind you on foot instead. Avoid traffic on the roads if you have to and avoid narrow alleys. If you run in a straight line for too long, they will fire at you and you won't have anywhere to avoid this when you are stuck in an alley. If the bullet fire doesn't hit you, the army also carries claws that will grab and pull you away as well if you get too close.

mjc0961 has provided a video showing how to do this.

AED.jpg  Master of Your Domain (B)

Dethrone GLC's high score

*Glitched.

Your high score is found in the middle of your HUD. GLC's high score is around 880 000. Just about everything you do in this game earns you points. Keep playing missions and cause as much destruction as you can while you explore and this will be earned without even thinking about it. Drive on sidewalks running over pedestrians, rather than on the roads and your score will increase much faster (but also draw more police attention).

There is potential to reset your score by replaying missions or cross saving. You won't have to start a new game, but you will have to earn the points again. Read about this problem here, Glitch Information.

298.jpg  Daily Grind (S)

Find all hidden loot bags, payphones and invisible walls

*Glitched.

There are 32 loot bags, 32 payphones and 8 invisible walls in this game to find. The loot bags look like little brown boxes with twine around it. Invisible walls are fake exits representing prop walls from t.v. sets. To collect the bags/invisible walls just walk over/in to them. Payphones are mostly found against buildings and a small number in various other locations. When you see a payphone, press :triangle: when you are in front of it and a screen with a fake phone number on it will appear.

Loot bags 31 and 32 and invisible wall 8 can only be accessed during story missions and should be aquired right away to avoid the replay mission glitch. Refer to the link below on when and where to aquire these.

Dalez has provided a full map and detail on where to find each one located here, Collectables Guide.

A glitch can occur where the game will actually auto collect 10 random loot bags from the map for you. This does not make the trophy unobtainable, but you will still have to search for them manually as you have no way of knowing which ones were collected. Read more about it here, Glitch Information

E3A.jpg  Death Cam, No Death (B)

Beat Death Cam VHS without dying

This is by far the hardest trophy in this game. There are checkpoints throughout the process if you die, but you have to do it from start to finish in one life. Save before starting this mission. You will have to die first and press :circle: to exit the mission as you are pushed in to the mission automatically from the previous one. Head back to Doc's house and save before restarting from there.

Rather then explain the entire process, you can view the top players playthroughs from your leaderboards menu for strategies. From the pause menu, select Leaderboards then press :l1: or :r1: to scroll through the missions. When you find Death Cam, VHS press left or right to switch to the global scores. You will be looking at the top of the global list now. Press :triangle: on the top player(s) to watch their playthrough on how to complete it.

2 tips before getting started. The first is while you are in the first room, keep letting the enemy with a pistol spawn until your ammo is full. Then shoot the skulls and move on. This will make the ninjas in the second room much easier. The second tip is to be sure to grab a flamethrower in the final room. It's much easier to quickly set the last two orange bombers on fire and let them die from that while evading then trying to constantly attack.

There is also an invisible wall at the bottom of the first room, walk in to it before completing this trophy/mission.

If you missed this already, do not replay the mission until you have earned the glitched trophies first. See the Glitch Information as to why.

145.jpg  Tool Time (S)

Collect all of the time machine parts

Story related: *Glitched.

You will be required to repair the phone booth you travelled through time with by acquiring 9 different items earned though completing story missions.

Using the cross save feature or replaying missions before earning this trophy can potentially cause your statistics to wipe clean. This will make this trophy unobtainable on your current file as a result. Read the Glitch Information for more info on this problem.

B39.jpg  A Winner Is You! (G)

Get gold medal scores in all sprees

*Glitched.

You will only have to unlock and earn a gold in the 14 main slaughter sprees to earn this trophy. The secondary sprees do not count. After they are unlocked, exit to the main menu and choose Play Arcade Challenges to access them. When you have a gold medal on all 14 this trophy will unlock.

If you are having trouble on a particular spree, highlight the spree you need help with from the menu and press :square: to access the leaderboards for that spree. After, press left or right to switch the menu to global and then press :triangle: to view the top player(s) playthrough.

Here is how all 14 missions are unlocked. 7 you have instant access too, 7 are unlocked through playing the game and exploring the map.

  • Armed & Invincible: Instant
  • Toast of the Town Instant
  • Speed Kills! Shoe up! Instant
  • Rocket Launch Time! Instant
  • Reapin' it Real! Unlocks after completing the secondary mission Circle of Death: Baby's Ghost Daddy
  • Nice 'N Clawed! Unlocks after the completing the set of missons The Contraband Commando
  • Drop 'em like Flies! Unlocks after the mission The Guest Star: Starstruck Airstrike
  • Tipsy Toadstool Trippin' After completing all missions for the Go-Go Busters, return to The Paramour found in Pigeon Creek Zone. Enter the building and press :triangle: at the bartender to order a drink to unlock this spree.
  • Hawaii D.U.I. In the northern section of the map you will find a vending machine labeled Grog2Go beside Grogbush's bar in Primate Peninsula Zone. Press :triangle: in front of the vending machine to order grog and unlock this spree.
  • Masked Massacre Unlocks after completing the set of missions Biff! Pow! Holy Cow!
  • Tank it 2 the Max! Instant
  • Flatten 50 in 50 Instant
  • Sweat Their Rides Unlocks after the set of missions Sweat Bomber
  • Rocketproof Rampage Unlocks after the set of missions The Dark Bank Heist

When you complete the story missions you will unlock turbo mode, which can be turned on and off from the main menu. This makes you much faster but decreases the time you have to complete sprees. If you have trouble in normal mode, you may have less in turbo and vice versa. Don't get too frustrated on a certain spree without trying both modes first.

Using the cross save feature or replaying missions can potentially erase information saved regarding which sprees you have unlocked already. This will force you to start a new file to unlock them again. Read the Glitch Information for more information.

Glitch information and how to avoid it.

This game has a nasty problem where either replaying story missions through the main menu or using the cross save feature between your PS3 and VITA will potentially delete data saved from in the game. Your file will still be there, but registered statistics and unlocked sprees will be erased. Erased high scores, weapons/money, the statistics counter for your time parts collected and powers unlocked as well as slaughter sprees previously unlocked disappearing from your game have all been reported.

This can affect 4 trophies in this game. Master of Your Domain, Daily Grind, Tool Time, and A Winner Is You! The first is a minor problem easily solved by freely rampaging on the map and repeating sprees until your score is raised back up. The second I will go into more detail below. The last two require starting a new game if you wind up being affected by this glitch. At the moment, there is no known way to fix this.

Daily Grind can be glitched early on in the game during the mission The Dark Bank Heist: Welcome to Theftropolis. When you are asked by Jester to drive for him, you will see a river on your right with package one on the far side. If you try to jump over and get it but don't clear the river and die, you will have 10 packages collected in your statistics automatically.

For whatever reason, the game is auto collecting 10 packages from your game at random for you. This will not harm your progression towards the trophy but without having anyway of knowing which ones have been collected, you will have to still search the area anyways until your statistics and checklist, if you are using one, coincide. There are other incidents in the game that will cause random packages to be auto collected as well. What causes it exactly is yet to be determined.

Refer to the roadmap to see how to avoid having to replay missions and get your 100% in one playthrough.

If you have a VITA, I would highly advise against using the cross save feature and sticking to one system to play this game until/unless these issues are resolved or you risk playing it twice anyways... If you must replay a level due to a missed collectable, wait until all other mentioned trophies with a glitch are first completed. So far there are no known incidents of the collectables resetting from the game. So far.

EDIT: The game has had a patch update recently, v1.02. The games website is vague on what bugs exactly were fixed so I can't say with honesty if the ones mentioned above have been properly fixed. I would still suggest playing with caution. You can read more on what the patch includes here Patch Information

o-bloody-k, this guide took me forever and the game was honestly quite frustrating at times, but over all not too hard. I hope this guide can be helpful to someone as the trophy descriptions aren't quite clear for some of them. There is also currently very little information about this game out there, I'm surprised how little actually.

Big thanks to Dalez for providing the map and information for the collectables trophy.

Anypickle, any critique would be good, especially if you find something I happened to get wrong or wasn't clear enough on something. Thanks polka dotted folks.

More on the subject of glitches - there seems to be a glitch present in the patched version of the game (currently v1.01) that may cause you to be randomly credited with collecting certain loot bags you haven't picked up yet after suffering a death. It shouldn't affect your ability to obtain the (S)Daily Grind trophy but it may lead to a situation in which there is no loot bag at a given point on the map even though you haven't physically picked it up yet. Make sure to check all 32 locations carefully.

Thats funny you mention that. I noticed just earlier on my second account that I already had 10 packages as soon as I started the game. I noticed when I purposely picked up my first one and it said 11? Its too late for me to find them all now but I can look in to this more tomorrow. It doesn't take too long to find them all with that map.

I don't think it will affect the trophy negatively either but I still need to find out...

Through misadventure you are taken back in time
Pretty sure you go to the future. Kind of confusing at first, but once you run into the Jester again, he recognizes you. Doubt he would do that if it was the past. ;)

Only other thing I would suggest is maybe making another map for that run over 25 people trophy that highlights what road you're talking about. If you want I can use my Vita to get a nice clean snap of the map so you can edit all over it.

Yeah, I cannot stress this enough. Pick one platform and stick with it; tell that cross save option on the menu to go fuck itself. Play the game entirely on Vita or entirely on PS3, otherwise you're gonna have a bad time.

Is it? With all the 80's crap I thought he went backwards. Thats makes sense though. If you think a second map for the 25 pedestrians is a good idea, then I see no harm in it. I just need a map then :p I can't take a screen shot and the other map wasn't taken by me. I'd rather film it, but I have to wait a couple months to (hopefully) get that one started

I can do that too. Why not use the mission replay feature on my PS3 save since that save is already fucked up the ass with a cock so big its now gaping size puts goatse to shame.

Here's a blank map though, so if you could mark out the road I need to go to so I can know where to go for the video, that would be great. :)

right on, thanks man. I have to shower and stuff from work and watch walking dead first, but I will have this done sometime after dinner. I have to look in to another glitch regarding the loot bags. Both me and Dalez noticed we started a game with 10 already found. He found out what causes it and I'm going to test if it affects the trophy negatively or if it will actually be benificial, meaning you won't have to find all 32 possibly)

No problem, happy to help. Even if I want to punch the programmers of the cross save feature in their dicks. :p

I think I just found some other loot bag glitch. I died when throwing the barrel at that bionic commando guy during the Metal Gear style mission, and when I hit retry, it said I had found a loot bag and now had 1 out of 32 loot bags. Weird.

what had happened to us was we jumped in that river in the first mission before you drive off with Jester. Dalez confirmed that will set your loot bag count at 10 (i didn't notice my count until much later)

I'm hoping this is a good thing. Hopefully I have time to find everything tonight (less 10 loot bags :p)

I highlighted the road I was refering to in orange. I'll slap it on the guide later tonight

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1756/0DE.jpg Eco-friendly Fire (B)

Hit 4 people with a single shotgun blast

When you play in free roam, you have full ammo on all your guns. To save yourself from having to find a shotgun or ammo, do this in free roam. Simply select your shotgun and look for larger crowds of people. Larger crowds are easier to find near the beach or parks. The gated community on the far west of the map also tends to have large crowds. The story mission "Death Cam, VHS" will provide you with many opportunities to unlock this one also.

When you find a crowd, just fire a round at them at close range. If you miss one, find another crowd and try again. You must kill all 4, not just hit them as the trophy title implies.

In my experience playing on Vita, this was not true. I was looking on the beach for groups. Didn't find any that worked, but the cops were chasing me for running over people on the way too the beach. After a while I had four of the buggers chasing me. So I turned and shot at them. Didn't kill a single one of them, but they all got knocked back and I heard that sweet trophy unlocked sound immediately after.

So not only do you apparently not have to kill them, they don't have to be civilians either. Get 4 cops chasing you on foot and blast the unsuspecting fuckers. :D

In other news, that strategy for Rocky Road whatever worked great. :D I can do a video later today.

Ahh, I was a little uncertain on that one. I kept killing 3 and hitting a 4th (or so it looked like) and wasn't able to get it until 4 were dead. So I mentioned to kill them to be safe. I'll edit that though and add the cops in (I'm pretty sure my first game I got it wildly in a shootout with cops as well. The second game I went around and shot at pedestrians until I got the trophy)

Good that you got that rocky road trophy

Did it again, this time two cops died and two just got pushed back. Trophy still popped. Strange thing is that earlier I hit and killed four with one blast and nothing. Oh well, the good thing about the cop method is that more of them keep coming so you can try again easily instead of looking around for more civies. :D

Working on putting videos together now BTW. ;)

awesome sauce, videos make this shit so much better. I'm trying to score some recording equipment for christmas. I'll buy it myself on boxing day if I have too.

I've been fucking around with that trophy on a 3rd account since I got home, its a bit of a finicky trophy that doesn't seem to want to unlock always it seems. I know I hit 4 people once but it didn't unlock that time.

The best part about video is that I can go back and watch again and again. Looking at it, I'm thinking maybe what happened is that 3 guys were lined up in front and one was behind. Maybe the guy in back died from the guys in front knocking into him? I dunno. It certainly is picky though.

Thats quite possible. the bike bounce one was finicky like that as well. Thats the reason I mention to brake right away for that one because if you hit the other bike, which is likely with the games lack of speed control, it doesn't count.

I'm doing more testing regarding the loot bags today as well. I have an idea that it may not be random bags taken from the map (at least concerning the 10 from the river jump) but specific ones instead. If thats the case and my checklist matches after this, I might be able to save people time by already knowing which ones they can skip.

We'll see, it doesn't take long to find them all (loot bags at least, to test this I don't need the actual trophy, just the stats)

I got the bike trophy just dicking around the first time I played. Glad I don't have to actually try to get it now, as I imagine it would be a nightmare that way. :D

I got it my first time just dicking around too. I'm pretty sure I hit a cop that was trying to cut me off and sent him flying in to another bike cop.

Yes, its far more of a pain in the ass trying to focus on that one. This is the kind of trophy I always leave till towards the end though (just in case you randomly get it)
