Introduction

Resistance 2 is the second installment in the resistance series. The game pretty much takes place in an alternate time line that a virus called the chimeran virus, is advancing quickly to Europe, Britain and USA decimating every living thing it comes across with. Resistance 2 puts you in the shoes of a surviving soldier infected by the chimera virus called Nathan Hale. And you have to fight your way through different places in USA, starting from San Francisco. The game has sold a lot of copies since it's release in 2008 and at present it's one of the most sold ps3 games of all time, reaching platinum mark.

Resistance 2 stays true to the usual first person shooter genre of this generation. The life regeneration, the weapons system that has at least a power weapon or two and a secondary fire and the usual melee attack available in those crunch situations. Resistance 2 never fails to deliver textbook FPS storyline and succeeds with it.

Roadmap

First play through. Unlocking superhuman difficulty and combat related trophies/weapon related trophies and all the Intel.

First time you play resistance 2, you should put the difficulty on DIFFICULT setting. First and foremost, it saves you the time in doing 3 more other playthroughs, second of all, it beefs you up and gives you a better vantage point on all the levels doing SUPERHUMAN difficulty.

But don't fret on the superhuman difficulty too much, I will be giving some info and strategy on special enemies on resistance 2, from the Kraken, to the marauder. During this time since difficulty hasn't hit much up of a curve, you should start to do some of your combat related trophies on this playthrough(which is difficult setting). Some of the trophies on the trophy list is cumulative, and dying on an area and using a weapon again and again on that area will add up to the kill count of your weapons so use this to an advantage. Just having a good feel on how many kills you have also helps and it's always great to give atleast a few extra kills. During this run, you're going to achieve these trophies.

  • Rampage! (B)
  • Covert Ops (B)
  • Nowhere To Hide (B)
  • Sharpshooter (B)
  • They Go “BOOM” (B)
  • Explosives Expert (B)
  • Pyromaniac (B)
  • Spitting Lead (B)
  • I See You (B)
  • Talk To The Hand (B)
  • For Close Encounters (B)
  • Pincushion (B)
  • Up Close and Personal (B)
  • Wrecking Machine (B)
  • Mind Your Surroundings (B)
  • Exotic Weapon Collector (S)
  • Master Spy (S)
  • Snipe Hunt (S)
  • Xenocide (S)

Secret trophies.

  • Recycler (B)
  • Fried Calamari (B)
  • Exterminator (B)
  • Flyswatter (B)
  • The Bigger They Are (B)
  • Big Game Hunter (B)
  • R.I.P Jordan Sheperd (G)
  • OMGWTFBBQ (G)

And along the way with the combat related trophies/weapon related trophies, you’ll unlock the usual story related trophies, and the great things about these story related trophies is you don’t have to worry much about them, just kill the certain enemy on the certain chapter and you get the trophy except for one trophy which is we’re going to pay attention on our second playthrough.

Second play through. Run on superhuman difficulty and trophy mop up.

Pretty much this run is self explanatory. On this run, all you have to worry about is playing on the superhuman difficulty and if ever you missed out on some trophies on the previous playthrough(which should be done on that difficulty really because it’ll be easier for you to do all the previous combat trophies on the difficult difficulty) There is a work around for the superhuman trophy posted in the forums, you should check it out.

See OMGWTFBBQ trophy for more info.

Third step: Coop trophies.

This is pretty much self explanatory. What you should do is you should start playing the coop mode as a medic. So there are other classes out there right, why not play them? Well this is the catch. Some of the classes deal barely and meager damage sometimes, depending on the difficulty(two difficulties, superhuman and normal) on the coop campaigns and being on the front lines with the other players which are probably other soldiers and spec op soldiers, you’ll be struggling to score properly.

The medic is truly the way to go, why? First of all, the medic is the most reliable character in the whole coop game. Pretty much he has the ability to keep the whole team alive with his healing beams, and pretty much revive any character the fastest. This is pretty crucial on team mates who run and gun a lot and you have a better chance of winning the mission, second of all, your team mates(if you're lucky, they’re all spec ops) get constantly damaged. And you know what medics do? They heal people. And the xp system works like this, if your allies get damaged, and like they got dealt 69 damage, and you heal them, you gain xp on how much damage you heal(100xp per shot max i think). Multiply this if they get hurt 60 times in a minute, that’s already a big xp boost compared to all other characters trying to gain xp by damage(normal means).

And along this run through, you will be able to get the following trophies.

  • Specter Intel (G)
  • Specter Officer (S)
  • Primarch Hunter (S)
  • Tour of Duty (B)
  • Specter Initiate (B)
  • Specter Recon (B)
  • Team Player (B) - NOW UNOBTAINABLE

These trophies are easily obtainable if you do the level 30 trophy last and pay attention to the intel trophies first. You can get a mission intel in coop if you finish a match completely without the team dying and along the way you can obtain the other trophies which will unlock by themselves. Not all of them are hard, and being a medic i think the only thing you have to worry about is the primarch hunter trophy because the medic is never an offensive character.

On second thought, it might be possible if you're a medic because you get really strong hedgehog grenades near the end and it’ll be really helpful to spam these whenever primarchs appear.

Last hardest step. The competitive trophies.

Okay so this is one thing that everyone DOES not enjoy doing. after two years of constantly checking the forums over and over again, this one trophy seems to be the bane of everyone’s resistance competitive experience. Pretty much the only problem you’d be getting here is 10,000 kill trophy. Any other trophy is gained along the way and not really a hassle. The only online trophies left to achieve here are.

  • Salute me (S)
  • Beserker (B) - NOW UNOBTAINABLE
  • Point Man (S) - NOW UNOBTAINABLE
  • Killing machine (G) - NOW UNOBTAINABLE

And there is one lingering problem with achieving the killing machine. We are nearing the release of the third installment of resistance 3, and that’s going to be bad news for the online community. The only means you're going to get this trophy is by searching a match on the competitive screen, and searching for a ranked match.

Finding a game through the lobbies do not really count and contribute to the killing machine trophy. Only games that you play through matchmaking are the only kills that count towards the killing machine and salute me trophy. Any other games played via search competitive won’t add up.

The easiest way to get kills online are to really practice hipfiring as the accuracy of guns tend to remain the same even while strafing and firing at the same time. I found it best to get trained from the start with combos like Carbine/prototype ammo, Bullseye/prototype ammo and Wraith/prototype ammo. Anything would work really but prototype really quickens kills and gives you a free kill every time you bring Carbine with you.

Snake eyes and the L.A.A.R.K works really well too but the problem with these weapons are the majority of big online matches nowadays are gone, and you'll just get smaller pockets of 5 vs 5 matches. It's really up to you but I'd rather use prototype ammo myself. And as mentioned before, the community stated that the Pulse cannon and L.A.A.R.K were glitched, i got my kills exactly 10k having both 400+ kills for both weapons.

TROPHY GUIDE

000.jpg

Platinum Trophy (H)(P)

Obtain all Gold, Silver, and Bronze Trophies for Resistance 2™.

As with other games, collect all other trophies to unlock this trophy. Congrats!

Single Player Trophies

For the single player trophies, I have put all of the trophies in a random order, but I have put all the intel videos at the end of the guide with text guides aswell. I’ve done this randomly because there’s a handful of trophies that is possible to get easily on one area in the game.

001.jpg Rampage! (B)

Kill 40 hybrids in the single player campaign.

This one is pretty cumulative. The only thing that you have to do is to kill all of the enemies you see, no problem thinking about this one too much, as keep on killing and it’ll eventually pop up.

002.jpg Covert Ops (B)

Collect 5 pieces of Intel in the single player campaign.

This one is also pretty cumulative, along the way of the master spy trophy, you’ll get this.

See the Master Spy trophy for further info.

009.jpg Nowhere to Hide (B)

Tag and kill 30 enemies with the bullseye in the single player campaign.

To tag a target, when you have Bullseye/Bullseye mark 2 equipped, aim at an enemy and press R2. Also, you can use bullseye fire as a bomb/cluster shot by holding R2 when you shoot the ground or any non enemy, and when you hear a distant click, you can fire at the marked spot to cluster up some bullseye charges(whatever they’re called)

This trophy is pretty easy to get in the first area of the game(prologue). A lot of enemies there drop the mark 1 version of the bullseye, pretty easy. Pick up a bullseye, tag the enemy and shoot to kill. Do this 30 more times on enemies and the trophy will pop up eventually. Cumulative towards the Exotic Weapons Collector trophy.

010.jpg Sharpshooter (B)

Get 30 headshots while scoped in with the Fareye or Marksman in the single player campaign.

Both fareye and marksman have a built in scope, you can activate the scope by pressing L1.

This trophy is also an easy one to get. A nice place to get this is after you and Malikov get out of the compound you are in on the San Francisco level. You will go to an anti aircraft gun and on the left of the sandbags is a Fareye, pick that up and start picking off the hybrids one by one, also don’t forget to press R2 while using Fareye, gives you more of an opening to shoot them on the head, it slows down time so it’ll eventually come in very useful.

Cumulative towards the Exotic Weapons Collector trophy.

013.jpg Pyromaniac (B)

Set 100 enemies on fire with the bellock semi automatic, Air-Fuel Grenade, spider grenade or environmental hazard in the single player campaign.

This one has several methods, depending on you really. Since the trophy is dependent on all three weapons and are cumulative, to each other.

Bellock - You get this weapon first time in Idaho. You get this after you fight all of the Steelheads outside the diner, when you enter the diner it’s there for the taking. You’ll come across a saloon and a warehouse thing on your way outside, what i suggest you should do is to save up on bellock ammunition and kill all of the enemies you come across with just the auger/bullseye you pick up and save it later on. You will come across a theater, that’s where you use the bellock. But before you use it, make sure you have a grenade to kill yourself. There will be at least 30+ Grimm's there ready to be set on fire, rinse repeat for the trophy.

Air fuel grenade - Now this one is pretty easy, you can do this one on the San Francisco level. Basically just save up all of your air fuel grenades at the start of the mission, save it up until you go to the same anti aircraft gun stated on the Sharpshooter trophy and use it there. Be cautious though and careful on your aim, this has at least a 4 second delay before igniting the air it releases.

Spider grenades - These grenades are found heavily in the last mission, Chicxulub crater. It’s a little hard to use because it deploys a little later than the air fuel grenade. It’s the same thing that the marauder spits out, so it works pretty much the same. Make sure to throw it in between of enemies when using it, it creeps in all directions and kills them directly after 2-3 seconds.

All of these weapons are cumulative towards the Exotic Weapons Collector trophy.

Method thanks to Terminator!

For the Pyromaniac trophy, a great place to farm it is on the Station Genesis level. This spot is during the part where you have to sneak in to the base. Soon after entering the Tunnels, you'll come to a door with a right-hand turn next to it, take it and you'll enter a loop with a Spider Grenade and some other bits and pieces at the other end. Follow the loop round 'till you return to the turn off then go through the door. Just after you go through the door throw the grenade and you'll fry all the enemies that come through the opposite door. Once you've killed all the enemies, kill yourself, rinse and repeat

014.jpg Spitting Lead (B)

Kill 50 enemies using the wraith with the force barrier engaged in the single player campaign.

You can deploy the wraith’s shield by pressing R2.

This one is pretty easy. On the Bryce canyon mission, you are prompted to look for x-ray squad, and when you eventually find them, they fall into the hands of the spinners.

There’s a wraith positioned just in the middle of the room on where the cocoons are, and this is pretty handy because on the next thing that is going to happen is you and two random spec ops guys are going to get mugged by tons of leapers. All you have to do is to deploy your shield and kill them all incoming leapers, and conveniently placed nearby is a cliff. Drop down, rinse and repeat. Cumulative towards the Exotic Weapons Collector trophy.

015.jpg I See You (B)

Kill 50 enemies through solid matter with the auger in single player campaign.

See Talk To The Hand for details.

016.jpg Talk To The Hand (B)

Use the auger force barrier to stop 150 incoming enemy shots in the single player campaign.

Both this trophies can be earned on the same place where you find your very first Auger. In the battleship in Orick. Whilst progressing through the battleship, you will find yourself in the second floor of a large hallway with hybrids below you. On front of you is cover where your very first encounter of the steelheads are(these are the guys that drop the augers). Kill all of the enemies in your way including the steelhead and face the enemies below you.

Deploy your shield until you run out of secondary ammo and shoot through the floor below you after. The great thing about this is they respawn indefinitely so you can shoot how many times you want. Stay in this spot until you receive your respective trophies. Cumulative towards the Exotic Weapons Collector trophy.

018.jpg Pincushion (B)

Get 50 kills with the hedgehog in the Single player campaign.

This is one of the trophies you can get earlier in the game, San Francisco is a good place to start. You should start up the mission on the very start and then proceed as same as where i told you to do the air fuel trophy, work your way up to the anti air gun, saving up the hedgehogs you acquire(one in the moon pool room, and one when you first meet Malikov, outside where you meet hybrids) and then throw away.

I think this is one of the hardest grenades to land, make sure you throw it in packs of enemies. Another sweet place to do this is when you're working your way outside the compound, there will be a place where you have to jump down and get quickly back to land to avoid the fury. An elevator will come down with at least 5 hybrids in it, good idea to throw a hedgehog in there. A fury is convenient nearby, kill yourself. rinse and repeat until you get the trophy. Cumulative towards the Exotic Weapons Collector trophy.

011.jpg Explosives Expert (B)

Get 150 kills with the carbine 40mm, LAARK, or frag grenade in the singe player campaign.

After you meet up with Warner in Idaho and proceed throughout the level, you'll come across a house that you'll enter through the basement, which is filled with water, that's your key landmark there.

Proceed throughout the house and when you get back up, you and Warner are confronted by at least 50+ Grimms. The massive advantage on this part of the map is conveniently placed next to you and on the garage is a magnum, some grenades and a carbine on the house you have to go through, plus the rossmore that you are probably carrying. This is your chance to do SOME of the trophies that you need, which are namely.

You can use the carbine secondary fire by pressing R2 while using the carbine.

Before entering this area, make sure you haven't used your carbine tube yet, make sure you mob all of the first wave of the grimms and then grenade launcher them. The tube kills probably 7-8 of the grimms per tube. After you've exhausted both carbine 40mms, use grenades next. After you kill the grimms in the area, proceed to the farther area where there are cars, kill yourself and repeat. Cumulative towards the Exotic Weapons Collector trophy.

012.jpg  They Go “Boom” (B)

Get 30 kills with the magnum secondary fire in single player campaign.

The magnum has explosive rounds that can be remotely detonated by pressing the r2 button.

Pretty much the same as explosives expert, but this one you just have to tag traps on the floor, wait for the grimms to come close and then detonate. Advisable is to make sure all of them come out of their pods first to maximize the kills as some of them jump over the fence first.

The description for the explosive expert trophy details the best spot to obtain this trophy.

017.jpg  For Close Encounters (B)

Get 10 one-hit head-shot kills with the shotgun in single player campaign

This one is pretty tricky to get, because sometimes the enemies just explode and die, and you can't tell which one really kills with a headshot. Best to make sure to keep on shooting until the trophy pops up. Make sure you aim up a little higher for the usual shots. Cumulative towards the Exotic Weapons Collector trophy.

The description for the explosive expert trophy details the best spot to obtain this trophy.

019.jpg  Up Close and Personal (B)

Get 50 melee kills with any weapon in single player mode.

You can use a melee attack by pressing the R3 button.

This trophy is pretty easy to get on this area, the preferable weapon to use melee with is the magnum because it pretty much has the least melee cooldown time of all the weapons and it doesn't switch to the knife and rifle butt animation like the other ones.

And pretty much Grimms, as of the whole game have the lowest tiered health next to the leapers. So it's pretty much basically a one hit kill on all of these grimms, except the fact that they don't hug your face. Cumulative towards the Exotic Weapons Collector trophy.

The description for the explosive expert trophy details the best spot to obtain this trophy.

020.jpg  Wrecking Machine (B)

Destroy 40 vehicles in the single player campaign.

Now this one is actually optional on this area because as I can keep count, on this are there are only two cars, it's actually a grind if ever you plan on doing this trophy here, but if you have done and dusted this along the way on the previous chapters, it's going to be easy to get this on this area.

Different method:

This is during the orick mission(that starts off with you guys getting ambushed). After you go through the part where you fight all the chameleons and pass through the small logging camp. You’ll be met by a downed chimeran cruiser ship, and at the other side of the map, a titan is waiting for you.

All you have to do is to kill the titan without picking up the L.A.A.R.K on the left side of the map and use this to detonate at least 9 cars further on the left of the map. They’re parked neatly and near each other so it’s not a problem locating this one. Save up atleast a grenade a kill yourself to get the trophy.

The description for the explosive expert trophy details the best spot to obtain this trophy.

021.jpg  Mind your Surroundings (B)

Get 50 indirect kills using explosive objects in single player campaign.

This one applies to everything explosive in the campaign mode. What you have to do is, to ignore the first wave of grimms and proceed through the house that you came through. After you leave the house, you will be greeted by another wave of grimms and two cars in the end. Grimms will start hopping across the fence on both your sides, run quickly to the cars.

Hop on it and then when they get a little too close, get off and then shoot the car immediately. Rinse and repeat as desired until you get the trophy.

025.jpg  Snipe Hunt (S)

Kill 30 Spinners in single player campaign.

Okay this chapter is bountiful with these creatures, but since in conjunctions with these trophies, you can actually pitch this one right in. Spinners are the small spider like bugs you see scuttling around on the log village in chapter two.

There's atleast 4 of them near the car area and for the trophy, just keep on going back at them. They're pretty easy to spot sometimes and sometimes aren't because they always vary in sizes. Rinse repeat for the trophy. If you have no idea what a spinner is though and need a more better description, there’s a link there below.

026.jpg  Xenocide (S)

Kill 1000 enemies in single player campaign.

This trophy will pop itself up while playing throughout the whole campaign, but if you want to finish this trophy early, you can do it on this area of the map whatever or however many times you want until the trophy pops up. Best using your grenades or lining up the enemies and using rossmore. It'll eventually pop up while doing the other designated trophies here.

The description for the explosive expert trophy details the best spot to obtain this trophy.

023.jpg Exotic Weapon Collector (S)

Get 20 kills with each weapon in the single player campaign.

This one is pretty much straightforward, like the word itself. Just kill enemies with the respective weapons. It’s great to have at least an extra 10 more kills on each weapon just in case. You can check your weapon kills on the stats screen, highlighting on the single player one and it’ll show you every possible stat available in the game, i think secondary fire counts as well, just do them(for the ones available) so they’ll count.

And also remember that to secondary ammo never replenishes by running over it with a used up same version of the weapon. Change the weapon you want secondary for and pick the fresh one up instead of running over it.

Carbine - This weapon can pretty much be found everywhere. A thing to remember about the carbine is that it doesn’t fill the secondary weapons ammo just like the bulleseye. To fill up the secondary ammo, you should replace it on your inventory with another weapon, and pick up a carbine that you haven’t ran over while your equipped with it.

Bullseye - Staple chimeran weaponry, pretty easy to find and not that rare, so when you find one, use until you get your Nowhere to hide trophy, use it as a key moment to stop killing. But i’m sure you’ll have more than one use for this weapon.

Bullseye MK 2- You can find this weapon on the Idaho diner area, when you first pick the marksman up, they are dropped by the more heavily armored hybrids. The more exact location is the gas station/diner area in Idaho.

Frag/Air Fuel/Spider/Hedge Hog - All of these grenades are available everywhere, although some of them aren’t available in other missions. Good way to gain kills for these are the anti air gun area on San Francisco(for all frag, air fuel and hedge hog grenades) and use spider grenades heavily on Louisiana and chixculub crater where there’s an abundance of them.

Bellock - Pretty much the same way you can get kills for the Pyromaniac trophy. The best place to farm this is on the stage in Idaho. After it’s been acquired outside the diner, make sure you kill enemies both with primary and secondary fire.

Marksman - You first get this gun before you enter the diner where the Bellock can be found. You can rinse/repeat this area for the kills needed for this weapon. An exploitable vehicle is available just beside you, use it to your advantage!

Auger MK 2 - This can be achieved in conjunction with the Auger trophies which you have(or will be obtaining) on the battleship mission in Idaho. Straightforward trophy the can be gotten with the I see you trophy.

V7 Splicer - This weapon is actually available in only one mission. Chicago starts off with you picking up an un-used splicer. Fire away as the grimms approach you, you can charge up R2 to melee some enemies and then fire the blade you’ve been charging. A better way to save up ammo and rack up kills for this trophy.

MP-47 Pulse cannon - The great thing about the pulse cannon is it is actually very useful after fighting the kraken the first time you see it in the San Francisco level. Save it up after you defeat it the first time(not using the secondary fire) and when you get out of the compound, unload on the enemies you see after the anti air gun part.

L.A.A.R.K - Pretty easy to get kills for this one after you get one in orick. When you first encounter the downed chimeran ship near where you need to do the Wrecking Machine trophy. Save it for later and kill all of the chimeras you see, die by exploding a vehicle nearby and rinse/repeat. Do both secondary and primary fire kills.

Also remember that the secondary of the L.A.A.R.K is homing, so it’s not going to be a hassle. Also, another spot where to use this is on the mansion on Louisiana. Before you fight marauder. There’s a L.A.A.R.K on the topmost floor. What will happen when you clear the whole house is that you get attacked by 2 ravagers, 2 Steelheads and at least 7 hybrids. You already know what to do.

Wraith - This one is good to get on the Bryce canyon mission in conjunction with the spitting lead trophy, just kill all of the leapers that come across you. After unlocking the spitting lead trophy, this weapon needs no more worry to even try to do.

Magnum - You can get kills for this on the place where i advised you those handful of trophies. Just keep doing it there, both direct hit from the ammo and indirect(trap hits) for this weapon. It’s available on a lot of missions so make use of it when you get it.

Boss Related Trophies

003.jpg Recycler (H)(B)

Defeat the Goliath in the Single Player Campaign.

This one isn’t really much of a problem, you unlock this one after defeating the Goliath in campaign. There will be four times that you’ll be prompted to shoot the exhaust ports, pretty un-missable as i might say.

004.jpg Fried Calamari (H)(B)

Defeat the Kraken in Single Player Campaign.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0I1CmI8gcBU]Resistance 2: Kraken - YouTube[/ame]

This boss is a little harder than usual actually on superhuman difficulty. But one thing you gotta remember though is not to panic when it screams at you. You are really going to get damaged when it does and just keep on strafing. This thing will kill you on one hit on any of it’s attacks in superhuman so be very vigilant.

It has four attacks:

  • Drills the platform with one of it’s claws towards your direction.
  • Screams/Growls at you.
  • Disappears and reappears, charging the platform.
  • Slaps the platform in an attempt to dissuade you.

The only weapon you will have against this beastie is the pulse cannon, and it’s infinite. The only advice i can give to you is just keep on side swiping and shooting on this guy. Difficulty dependant are the number of shots on him. When you kill the Kraken, the trophy will pop up. Really unmissable.

005.jpg Exterminator (H)(B)

Defeat the mother spinner in the single player campaign.

Now this boss is one of the easier ones in the whole game, and it’s back to get you with a vengeance for killing all her darling spinners! She’s pretty easy to beat, as always same with the kraken, don’t panic.

She has three attacks:

  • She’ll spit acid at you
  • Follow you around until she’s close and claw at you
  • Summon leapers when she growls.

The weapons available around is the rossmore(which is pretty handy) and the carbine. The fight stats off here appearing and then growls at you. She will then spit acid as the next move, which i will advise you to stay close at the pillars because she can’t turn around. After you strafed at what she vomits or while she’s doing that, make sure you unload on here(literally) and then when she disappears, always look around because she might be climbing around on the towers to summon her minions. Just keep on unloading on her and she’ll die by falling off the tower. The trophy will pop up once you kill her.

006.jpg Flyswatter (H)(B)

Defeat the swarm in single player campaign.

Now this enemy is actually pretty challenging in my books, now you ask me why?

It has one attack:

  • Ruin your day

Seriously! It does ruin your day!. This guy is pretty badass, seeing as it was the earlier strains of chimera on earth. But yeah, enough with the introduction.

To beat this guy is, what you have to do is go to the panels(generator panels) which malikov said he will help you with. Pick up the pulse cannon at the start of the fight and then wait for it to come near you and quickly sprint between the panel. It’ll get stuck in there and you have a golden opportunity to shoot it. A door will open on the left of the room leading to another generator panel only this time, it’ll take a longer time to persuade it to follow you into the general panel.

I don’t know if this is useful though but this guy can be slowed down by shooting your weapons at it, if you bring a wraith/carbine with you during this fight, it’ll be useful just in case he’s going too fast for you.

007.jpg The Bigger They Are (H)(B)

Defeat the leviathan in single player campaign.

So here we are now at resistance 2’s flagship scene. Pretty much this is the scene that started the resistance craze. You’re going to fight off this big beastie.

It has one attack:

  • Eat you

And as have you guessed right! Being eaten by something 60ft or whatever kills you instantly! No Capelli regen ain’t kicking in! But this guy is pretty straightforward.

First of all make sure you pick up the L.A.A.R.K first. This is pretty much the weapon your going to use on this guy for the first 3 tries it eats you. When he picks you up(two times in total the game) don’t panic as he’ll just try to eat you. So make sure you have spare L.A.A.R.K ammo lying around to shoot this guy.

After the last part where he tries to find you on another building and you get his attention and you shoot half of his brain off, the trophy will pop out. Not that hard but a very enjoyable boss, theatrical in proportions.

008.jpg Big Game Hunter (H)(B)

Defeat the marauder in the single player campaign.

Now this boss has the most ingenious use of positioning and timing. After you kill this boss, it’ll be your way out. Now that’s crazy!

It has two attacks:

  • Spit fire
  • Spit a spider grenade

This boss appears after you’ve cleared the old abandoned house is Louisiana. And there’s a L.A.A.R.K conveniently placed at the top most floor of this house. Pick that up and proceed on the second floor.

You can tell where the marauder is when you see a big hunking piece of chimera amongst one of those windows. What you should do is peek through those windows and sneak in a shot of L.A.A.R.K. primary fire until it goes into the right side of the house. After it’s there, it’ll eventually fall down. The trophy will pop up after you’ve killed the big guy.

027.jpg R.I.P. Jordan Shepherd (H)(G)

Defeat Daedalus, complete the single player campaign.

Fight starts out at 7:50

Okay so remember the thing that tries to rape you at the first part of the game? When blake LOWERS the containment shield that absolutely destroys everything up? You gotta try and beat this guy now, and this, this fight is pretty much, he’s cheating!

He has one attack:

  • Instant kill

And there we go. This last fight is one of the hardest especially on superhuman. Well, technically because you have to wait for him to stop monologuing like any other boss monster or final enemy does. They monologue a lot don’t they? But pretty much this guy is easy when you reach it on his part.

But first of all, make sure you save up either an AUGER OR A WRAITH before this fight. Because if you die in between fighting the heavily armoured bullseye Mk 2 hybrids, you’ll start from the very beginning again and it is a real hassle on superhuman difficulty. When you reach at the end, fighting all of the hybrids(deflecting their fire with auger secondary), you fight him in the middle and conveniently placed are orbs that generate electricity in the wall, when Daedalus passes through this, shoot them so it’ll generate a shock, and Daedalus will be there to catch it all.

But be careful though, he’ll be chasing you throughout the match so be quick after you shoot an orb to generate electricity. Rinse repeat, and the trophy will pop up after you finish the credits. Congratulations! The challenge is only beginning!

028.jpg OMGWTFBBQ (H)(G)

Complete the Single Player Campaign on Superhuman.

This is the most straightforward trophy of them all. Just finish the game on superhuman difficulty. There are a lot of hard parts in the game for superhuman difficulty but after 3-4 tries are really doable. At the top of my head the only place where i think you can find yourself struggling is Daedalus part and kraken(with single hits).

There’s a backdoor you can take, but i don’t care about your backdoor!(Quote horn-rimmed glasses guy from gta). A glitch, you can do to shorten your superhuman walk through. What i know is that you just have to delete the game data after you’ve unlocked superhuman difficulty and then play the last stage(not checkpoints, starting from the start) without updating the game.

Playing in offline and disabling internet connection.

After the credits you’ll unlock your trophy. There’s a massive discussion on this threads below for more info.

Online Trophies

029.jpg  Berserker (B)

Use every berserk at least once in Online Competitive Multiplayer.

*Please note that the servers for this game have now closed, meaning that this trophy is now unobtainable.*

Berserks, are perks you can use in online competitive multiplayer. In order to use Berserks, you need experience, which is earned by completing in game objectives or by killing fellow players. As you earn experience, your Berserk XP bar located on the top right will fill up; once filled, you can activate a Berserk.

One thing to note, is that Berserks will end if the player is killed. However, the Berserk XP bar will only empty dependent on the amount of time the Berserk is used. In addition, you can change your Berserk loadout mid-game via the :start: menu. This makes it quite easy to get this trophy out of the way once you have all Berserks unlocked, especially if you're boosting this. Also it's good to note that this trophy isn't unlockable until level 15, as said on the list.

Please refer to the http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/resistance-2/6109-trophy-boosting-thread.html if you're looking for a boosting partner.

List of Berserks is as follows:

Adrenaline Boost

Increases the speed of the player's movements while maintaining accuracy.

Advanced Radar (Human)

Increases player's radar range.

Chimeran Rage (Chimera)

Grants hybrid vision to the player and nearby allies, allowing them to see heat signatures through solid matter.

Electrostatic Orb Burst

Fires electrostatic orbs above the player, providing an increased tactical advantage against enemies attacking on all fronts.

Invisibility

Renders the player invisible unless attacking or taking damage.

Ironheart

Reduces enemy damage to player significantly for duration of berserk.

L.A.A.R.K. (Human)

Player gets to fire two charges from the LAARK. When the berserk is activated the LAARK can be equipped until those shots are fired.

Overload

Once activated the player will explode if they are killed, stand close to an enemy, or a few seconds have passed. They will not be penalized with a suicide or death.

Prototype Ammo

Creates ammo kits containing advanced prototype ammunition, one of which is instantly given to the berserker. This ammo inflicts additional damage for the duration of the berserk and refills all primary and secondary munitions.

Ring of Life

Creates a circle around the player's location within which all allies will regenerate health.

Snake Eyes (Chimera)

Player gets to fire a charge from the Pulse Cannon. When the berserk is activated the Pulse Cannon can be equipped until the shot is fired.

032.jpg  Specter Recon (B)

Collect 50 pieces of gray tech in the Cooperative Campaign.

In the Cooperative Campaign, gray tech is the “currency” you use to purchase those new pieces of equipment you unlock at various levels for your character. How does one acquire gray tech? Those Elite Chimera’s (one’s with a health bar) you encounter during the co-op? Killing them rewards you gray tech. As long as you took part in damaging them, you’ll be rewarded gray tech regardless of who does the killing blow. Dealing the killing blow though, will reward you more gray tech compared to the others.

Gray tech can be also found in certain areas during a mission, and playing a map on Superhuman difficulty will reward you with double the amount of gray tech whenever you pick up any.

Collect 50 pieces of gray tech, and the trophy will unlock. You will most likely unlock this trophy naturally.

Please refer to the http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/resistance-2/6109-trophy-boosting-thread.html if you're looking for a boosting partner.

033.jpg  Specter Initiate (B)

Complete 20 missions in the Cooperative Campaign.

Completing 20 missions, basically means you got to finish 20 games of co-op. Fortunately for you, one doesn’t need to complete a mission from start to finish in order for it to count. You can drop into an ongoing game at any time and as long as you are there when the mission ends, it’ll count.

Simply complete 20 missions in coop, and the trophy will pop.

Please refer to the http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/resistance-2/6109-trophy-boosting-thread.html if you're looking for a boosting partner.

034.jpg  Team Player (B)

Complete 5 missions with a full party of 8 in the Cooperative Campaign.

*Please note that the servers for this game have now closed, meaning that this trophy is now unobtainable.*

As mentioned, you’ll complete a mission when you’re present when a game ends, whether you were there from the start or join mid-game. Simply complete 5 missions with 7 other people in the game when the map ends, and the trophy will unlock.

You can look for games listed as 7 / 8 in the lobby to get the trophy over with, but you’ll most likely earn this trophy naturally anyways.

Please refer to the http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/resistance-2/6109-trophy-boosting-thread.html if you're looking for a boosting partner.

035.jpg  Tour of Duty (B)

Complete one mission on each region in the Cooperative Campaign.

By “region”, they really mean the six different maps in the cooperative campaign. Simply play on each map at least once, and you’ll earn the trophy. You can easily keep track of which maps you’ve played and haven’t played by looking at the Intel counter located on the top right corner of each map.

The six different “regions” are:

  • Axbridge
  • Bracknell
  • Bryce Canyon
  • Chicago
  • Holar Tower
  • Orick

Please refer to the http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/resistance-2/6109-trophy-boosting-thread.html if you're looking for a boosting partner.

022.jpg  Salute Me (S)

Achieve the rank of Lieutenant.

Ranks in Resistance 2, are shared among between the single player campaign, the cooperative campaign, and the competitive campaign. Any experience you earn, goes to your overall total, which you can view in “Your Profile”. You must first earn 3 stars on the rank you’re currently in, before you go up a rank. Obviously, as you move up, the experience required to reach the next rank will get increasingly higher. Fortunately, if you’re planning to platinum this game anyways, you’ll unlock this trophy anyways.

Reach the rank of Lietenant, which is at Level 31, and the trophy will pop.

Please refer to the http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/resistance-2/6109-trophy-boosting-thread.html if you're looking for a boosting partner.

Below is a list of all the possible ranks:

  • Level 1 - Private
  • Level 4 - Private First Class
  • Level 7 - Corporal
  • Level 10 - Sergeant
  • Level 13 - Staff Sergeant
  • Level 16 - Gunnery Sergeant
  • Level 19 - 1st Sergeant
  • Level 22 - Sergeant Major
  • Level 25 - Command Sergeant Major
  • Level 28 - SGT Major of The Army
  • Level 31 - Lieutenant
  • Level 34 - Captain
  • Lever 37 - Major
  • Level 40 - Lt. Colonel
  • Level 43 - Colonel
  • Level 46 - Brigadier General
  • Level 49 - Major General
  • Level 52 - Lt. General
  • Level 55 - General
  • Level 58 - Supreme Commander
  • Level 60 - Supreme Commander Plus 2 PIPs

030.jpg  Point Man (S)

Earn 1 million XP from ranked games in online Competitive mode.

*Please note that the servers for this game have now closed, meaning that this trophy is now unobtainable.*

Note that you need to earn one million XP in competitive mode, not cooperative. In other words, your experience counter for competitive in your profile must reach one million before your trophy unlocks; not your overall total.

If you’re planning to earn the platinum for this game anyways, you’ll earn this trophy naturally when going for the Killing Machine.

Please refer to the http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/resistance-2/6109-trophy-boosting-thread.html if you're looking for a boosting partner.

036.jpg  Specter Officer (S)

Reach max level (30) with one class in the Cooperative Campaign.

Level 30 is the highest possible level you can reach in the Coop Campaign. Fortunately for us, you only need to reach Level 30 with one class to unlock this trophy, be it a Soldier, Medic, or Spec Ops.

To make your life easier and to reach Level 30 faster, as you level up, you'll unlock equipment for your class. These will either improve the damage you deal, improve your armor, or make your class' special ability more efficient. Make sure you purchase these (not sure why you won't) since you'll most likely have more than enough gray tech to do so anyways.

Please refer to the http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/resistance-2/6109-trophy-boosting-thread.html if you're looking for a boosting partner.

Boosting method

The best way to boost is to have atleast 3 people(two will do though) play a match in Chicago. At the very start there are like 2 vehicles, the spec ops should destroy one of the vehicles and hop on. The medic will continuously heal the spec ops while the spec ops throws ammo at medic. Rinse, repeat the process until you get 999999 xp. Here’s a video to help you along the way.

037.jpg  Primarch Hunter (S)

Kill 200 Elite Chimerans in the Cooperative Campaign.

Elite Chimera's are any Chimera's that have a health bar atop of them that you face during the Coop Campaign.

Killing 200 Elite's might seem a lot, but fortunately, you're not required to be the one dealing the killing blow. So long as you took part in damaging one and earned experience, it'll count as a kill. You can keep track of how many you've killed in the "My Profile" section in the title menu.

Kill 200 Elite's and the trophy will unlock. You will unlock this naturally when going for Specter Officer.

Please refer to the http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/resistance-2/6109-trophy-boosting-thread.html if you're looking for a boosting partner.

031.jpg  Killing Machine (G)

Score 10,000 kills in ranked matches in Online Competitive Multiplayer.

*Please note that the servers for this game have now closed, meaning that this trophy is now unobtainable.*

Which trophy gives Resistance 2 such a time consuming platinum? This trophy. If you want the platinum, prepared to do some grinding to reach the required 10,000 kills.

Unless you're insane or for some particular reason prefer to earn this legitimately, you're most likely going to want to boost this.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/resistance-2/97049-resistance-2-killing-machine-boosting-image-walkthrough.html

Please refer to the http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/resistance-2/6109-trophy-boosting-thread.html if you're looking for a boosting partner.

038.jpg  Specter Intel (G)

Collect all Intel in the Cooperative Campaign.

So how does one collect Intel in the Coop Campaign? If you were thinking of it being similar to the Single Player in which you have to look for these and pick these up in each map, you were wrong. For each time you complete a mission, you obtain Intel for that specific map. It doesn't matter if you joined in the beginning or join mid-game, so long as you reach the results screen, you'll receive credit for competing it and be rewarded one piece of Intel.

Number of Intel in each region is as follows:

  • Axbridge - 9/9 Intel
  • Bracknell - 10/10 Intel
  • Bryce Canyon - 12/12 Intel
  • Chicago: 10 Status Reports
  • Holar Tower - 8/8 Intel
  • Orick: 12 Status Report

Please refer to the http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/resistance-2/6109-trophy-boosting-thread.html if you're looking for a boosting partner.

Intel Locations.

Intel in resistance takes in the form of a grey suitcase. They are hidden throughout the game and reveal valued information about the happenings in the game and characters on your team. Also info on various weapons and locations available throughout the game.

Here are the Intel location with a text and video guide to help you. The game does a nice thing for you though, it keeps track of your currently acquired Intel for chapter when you check the Intel screen. It separates all of the Intel depending on chapter and you have a checklist on that screen.

Prologue

Intel #2 - This one is easily located after Major Blake asks malikov to lower the containment shield on Daedalus. He escapes, and after he picks you up and drops you. Blake asks you to follow him upstairs, but don’t follow him, instead turn left and then proceed through the catwalk till the end to see a grey briefcase there.

Intel #1 - Intel’s landmark is the broken bridge. After you crossed the broken bridge, you’ll come across some solid ground. You’ll come across the Intel if you go straight on the part where you can turn right. Go directly straight and claim your Intel

San Francisco

Intel#6 - This one is pretty easy to get, you will come across a hallway with four rooms just across each other. The Intel is on the second one on the right.

Intel#5 - This one is available in the moon pool room. It’s on the room on your right, it’s on a computer so make sure you double check before you consider you have gotten this one already.

Intel#4 - This Intel has a very unmissable landmark, when you see the 4C generator mark above you, this is a sign that the Intel is close nearby. You can get this in the middle of the room lying next to a dead soldier.

Intel#7 - This one is available on top of a computer again. You can get this when you drop down before you fight the kraken with the pulse cannon. It’s just across you when you drop down the room.

Intel#8 - It’s out in the open this one. It’s before you go to the helicopter, there will be a ramp on your left that you should go up to. It’s very hard to miss.

Intel#3 - This one is pretty easy to miss if you don’t look at corners. When you first ascend through the burning base, you come across two generators on the path with a path in the middle. Look on your left to see the Intel right there.

Orick, California

Intel#9 - This one is pretty hard to miss. It’s near the two trucks in the end of the level before you go down to proceed through the level. It’s on the bridge just in front of the ledge.

Intel#10 - You can get this one after you’ve defeated the titan near the motel. You go to the second floor and when you see the tv, it’s just near there in the glow of the tv. The sad sad glow.

Twinfalls, Idaho

Intel#13 - This Intel is when you first get out of the house. There will be a car nearby, it’s behind the car.

Intel#12 - It’s on the first level of the house where you meet Warner. it’s on the kitchen and very very hard to miss. You might pick it up by accident and not even realizing it!

Intel#11 - Intel is at the diner where you get attacked by auger wielding steelheads(well that’s an understatement). It’s on your right, near the army trucks, it’s out on the open so it’s pretty hard to miss.

Bryce canyon, Utah

Intel# 14 - After you’ve cleared all of the chimera on your second encounter with them after their ravagers did SURPRISE BUTTSECKZ on you behind those rocks. You’ll drop down from a cliff, immediately turn to the left and it’s on a table there inside a tent.

Intel# 15 - This one is during the swarm chases you the first time. Instead of going straight after you lure it away from you, turn right and then go straight, make sure to quickly turn around after because the swarm will come out of that ventilation shaft after.

Intel# 16 - You can find this after you see Daedalus and you decline him the answer for a date. He harasses you after for not being to complete his urges.

Malikov picks you up and you guys make your way through the elevator(before fighting the swarm). But instead of going the way where malikov goes, you can go the opposite direction and you’ll find it on that room, where there’s a dead black ops agent and a generator.

Chicago

Intel# 17 - This one is during the part where you have to swim across lots of chimera fire and a fury after you. You can find it when you finally reached land, on the room directly to you. It’s with dead black ops soldiers.

Holar tower, Iceland

Intel# 18 - Unmissable because the big landmark here are the lockers. You can find the lockers on the first time you descend through the bunkers.

Cocodrie, Louisiana

Intel# 19 - This one is pretty hard to miss because you need the weapon against the marauder. Pretty much unmissable in short term. It’s next to the black ops soldier.

Intel# 20 - You can find this when you get on the broken ferry boat for the first time. It’s on the second floor of the ferry boat along an array of rooms. As always, it seems to be an ongoing trend on this game that a black ops soldier is next to it. Get it and this will unlock your silver trophy, well done!(for using a guide in the internet)

*Credits and minor stuff.

Guide is done and posted! A big thank you to Breadskin for helping me with my first time doing this guide. Hope everyone likes the improved version of moose's old guide. Added pretty much a little more detail to everything and removed the tips/tricks section of his. Also a big thanks to TheFlyingToaster(even though i haven't asked him directly, Bread did) for the wonderful header! It was long work(because i as slacking) and i really hope my partner wasn't annoyed at me :p I love you bread :p haha.

And thanks to everyone who in the future will view this thread and add up info. Goodluck to everyone and goodluck trophy hunting! Special mention to Soothsayer and Terminator for adding more info, much appreciated guys!

All videos and boss walkthroughs are done by their respected owner and i take no credit in them. Best to give their video a like if your on youtube.

Nice one Crowquilt, this is much more detailed than the old guide :).

You'll easily get the Rampage and Nowhere to Hide trophies by the end of the 1st or 2nd level. The 2 hardest trophies in this are the Killing Machine and Superhuman ones. Also, you can get all the Co-Op trophies offline if you have the latest patch installed and 2 joypads :).

Another thing I'd like to add, the best place to get the Snipe Hunt trophy is in the Orick level as there are LOADS of them in every area. A really fast way to get "Talk To The Hand" is during your initial escape from the Swarm, just drop a couple all Force Shields, die and repeat :).

On a side note, for the Beserker trophy you should state that you have to wait until you're a Lv 15 to get this trophy as you won't have access to all the Berserks 'till then. The Berserker trophy can be obtained in unranked matches so search for one with infinite rounds and within 1-2hrs you should have it :D.

Salute Me can also be obtained offline if you play split-screen co-op a lot though if you tried to get it by playing nothing but campaign, it would take you months if not years to do.

Did a bunch more people get this game or something? Is it because the Dual Pack was recently released or was it the Game Night, I'm not sure. Either way, glad some of you will be using this :D.

I think it's renewed interest from all of the Dual Pack, Resistance 3 being released tomorrow, and the game night.

Still need to (P) this sucker.. To bad I know I won't ever get Killing Machine. But if I ever feel like earning some R2 trophies again, I'll be sure to use this one. Great guide!

Looks a lot better than the old one. Just got R2 so hopefully this will help me a lot. Well done and thank you very much!:applause: EDIT: Got any tips for non-DLC boosting killing machine?

Hey buddy! I'm not really sure about the non-dlc boosting for killing machine, there wasn't in the old guide. But i'm sure it works both ways having the same perimeters when you search games. I haven't really boosted the trophy and i haven't seen anyone discussing it how to do it, but since the online community is diminishing, try the same search options with your boosting partner!

Looks better than the old one. For me, the LAARK and Pulse Cannon secondary fire kills didn't glitch and got the trophy exactly at 10k but I guess it was patched or something.

I think the guide was done pre-patch 1.60 or something because i've used both of those weapons with both 400+ kills, and having ocd i stopped at 10000 exactly. And the trophy unlocked for me, i even recorded it on camera... lol...

And thank you everyone for the praise and support! Thanks terminator on adding additional info, already have added some of it, i'll proofread more later. Thanks to breadskin again for his eternal help and support. Hope everyone enjoyed the guide!

No problem, if you need any further info or clarification just PM me :D.

ADDENDUM:

For the Pyromaniac trophy, a great place to farm it is on the Station Genesis level. This spot is during the part where you have to sneak in to the base. Soon after entering the Tunnels, you'll come to a door with a right-hand turn next to it, take it and you'll enter a loop with a Spider Grenade and some other bits and pieces at the other end. Follow the loop round 'till you return to the turn off then go through the door. Just after you go through the door throw the grenade and you'll fry all the enemies that come through the opposite door. Once you've killed all the enemies, kill yourself, rinse and repeat :).
