Roadmap

Step 1) Playthrough 1

Complete the game first. Play as you normally would, getting yourself the ‘First Step’ and ‘It’s working’ trophy. If you’re having a hard time with a certain puzzle, you can buy clues for $100 each from Saul. (Press :triangle: when available). In the meantime, you should also fail every QTE before winning them, for the ‘Amateur Peeping Tom’ trophy. Later on in the game, when you try to break in through Carlos's window, there's a puzzle. Try to win this puzzle in less than 20 goes for the 'Hot! Roast chestnuts…' trophy.

At the end of this playthrough you get the ‘Obstacle course’, ‘It’s a wrap’ and ‘A real detective’ trophy. Also, if you completed the game 100%, you get the 'A closed case' trophy. If you didn't, you will get it on your second playthrough, because of the 'Express delivery' trophy.

TIP: If you're stuck, you can always buy clue's from Saul or a hint from the 'Objectives' tab. Hints from the objectives tab doesn't affect any trophy. However, the hints from Saul affect the 'I'm a legend' trophy on your second playthrough.

Step 2) Playthrough 2

Now it’s time for the cleanup. This time you should focus on winning all the conversations, puzzles and QTE’s (Quick Time Events) in 1 go for the ‘Director’s cut’ and ‘One Shot!’ trophies. Completing all of these in 1 go will also give you the ‘I’m a legend’ trophy. In the meantime, you should also do everything as quick as possible and skip every conversation you can skip to save up some time for the ‘Express Delivery’ trophy. (And the ‘A closed case’ if you haven’t already gotten it in the first playthrough.)

TIP: For the 'I'm a legend', 'Directors cut' and 'One Shot!' trophies. Before trying to solve a puzzle or getting into a conversation/QTE, save the game. If you fail, the scorecard will show up. Don't press :cross: to continue, else it will auto-save. Instead, quit to the main menu and continue. (If you don't know when to save exactly, you can always check the walkthrough)

Complete walkthrough

If you're stuck on a puzzle or you're ready to do your second playthrough, I highly suggest you read the 'Complete walkthrough' by corky_g (Contains spoilers): Complete Walkthrough By Corky_g

Hot! Roast chestnuts… (B)

Cut the alarm in less than 20 goes

When trying to enter Carlo’s house, you’ll need to cut an alarm before you can open the shutters. The alarm is a grid of red and green lights. In the middle of the grid is a green square. What you need to do is, to try to get the 4 green lights, in the green square, by moving the rows and columns in the grid. Next to the grid is a counter that says 50. Every time you move a row or column, the number will decrease. Once you hit 0 the alarm goes off and you will have to retry. Try to get the 4 green lights into the green square before the number goes below 31 and this trophy is yours.

It’s a wrap (B)

Win all QTE’s

You can’t miss this trophy.

To progress in the story, you will have to do all the QTE’s (Quick Time Events.) There are a total of 5 QTE’s (A QTE for every first encounter with; Saul, Theresa, Sonia, Carlos and on the second encounter with Ringo). If the game starts a grey cut-scene, that’s when you know when a QTE will start soon.

Once you finish the last QTE, the QTE after you enter Carlos’s apartment, the trophy will unlock.

For a list on how to win every QTE see the 'Director's cut' trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1000/06.jpg

Obstacle course (B)

Win all puzzles

You can’t miss this trophy.

Same as with the ‘It's a wrap’ trophy. To progress in the story, you will have to do all the puzzles. Once you solve a puzzle it will count as a win (time and retries don’t matter). When you solve the last puzzle, the Alarm puzzle, the trophy will unlock.

For a list of all the puzzles, see the ‘A closed case’ trophy.

If you're having a hard time completing a puzzle, you can either buy clues from Saul for $100 each (press :triangle: when available). Or you can check out corky_g's Complete Walkthrough.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1000/06.jpg

Amateur Peeping Tom (B)

See all the failure QTE’s

Once a QTE starts, don’t press any button and let the orange timer run out, or press the wrong button. This will result in a failed QTE and you end up getting beaten down. However, that’s not it. You need to see ALL the failure QTE. Meaning, if a QTE consists of 5 actions, you will have to fail all of those actions, to see every outcome.

For example, you need to press: :cross:, :square:, move analog stick up.

First fail by not pressing :cross: or hit any other button. Now retry the QTE, don’t fail and press :cross:, but then afterwards fail to press :square:. Retry again, don't fail to press :cross: and :square:, but then afterwards fail to move your analog stick up. Now retry again and win the QTE. Rinse and repeat for every QTE.

Once you fail the last QTE, the QTE after you enter Carlos's apartment, the trophy will unlock.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1000/06.jpg

It’s working (B)

Win the first QTE

You can’t miss this trophy.

The first QTE event that you will come across is when you go down the bridge and to the electric box puzzle. When clicking on the puzzle, a grey cut-scene will start to play. Your friend Saul will surprise you from behind. The QTE will start soon after. Win the QTE and this trophy will be yours.

Sauls QTE never changes: :cross:, left, up.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1000/06.jpg

First step (B)

Finish the first puzzle

You can’t miss this trophy.

Same as with the ‘It's working’ trophy. The first puzzle is right after the first QTE, the Electric Box. Complete the puzzle and the trophy will unlock.

If you’re having trouble with this puzzle (or any other), you can buy clues from Saul (by pressing :triangle: when available) for $100 each or use the Complete Walkthrough here: Complete Walkthrough by Corky_g

A closed case (S)

Finish the game with a 100% completion rate

You can check your progress by pressing :select: and going to the ‘Progress’ tab.

To finish the game with a 100% completion rate you will have to:

  • Meet all 7 persons.
  • Visit all 6 places.
  • Find all 38 objects.
  • Find all 6 fingerprints.
  • Solve all 21 puzzles.
  • Answer all 26 questions.
  • Have all 21 conversations.
  • Collect all 45 notes.
  • Achieved all 34 objectives.

Note:

  • Buying clue's from Saul, or buying any hint from the 'Objectives' tab doesn't affect this trophy! You can buy as many as you want. If your money allows it ofcourse.
  • Getting an 'A' rank on every conversation, puzzle and QTE is not needed.

If you fail to get a 100% completion rate after turning in the indictment, you can 'continue'. Check what you're missing and see if you can still manage to get it. Once done, submit the indictment again and you should get the 100% trophy. You can also try to get this when going for the 'Express delivery' trophy in the next playthrough.

Check the spoiler tags in the next 2 posts for all the objects, fingerprints, puzzles, notes and objectives. (Note: I didn’t describe where to meet all persons, places, questions and conversations, since these are obvious and hard to miss).

I’m a legend (S)

Finish the game with rank A

After every conversation, puzzle and QTE event, you will get a grade based on how well you did. To finish the game with an ‘A’ rank, you will have to score an ‘A’ rank on most of them. The exact amount of 'A' ranks needed is unknown. However, do try to get as many 'A' ranks as possible. (Use the walkthrough to get all the 'A' ranks.)

Your rank is based on either how many tries it took you to round up a conversation, puzzle or QTE and/or how long it took you to complete them. After every conversation, puzzle or QTE a scorecard will show up with either an A, B, C, D or E rank, your time and your money earned/used.

TIP: Before trying to solve a puzzle or getting into a conversation, save the game. If you fail, the scorecard will show up. Don't press :cross: to continue, else it will auto-save. Instead, quit to the main menu and continue.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1000/03.jpg

Directors’s cut (S)

Win all the QTE’s in one go

After every succesfull or failed QTE, you will get to see a scorecard. For this trophy you will have to win all the QTE’s in the game without failing once. When doing a QTE on a new playthrough, they will be exactly the same as the first time. The only QTE's that change after a failing, is the QTE from Ringo and Carlos.

There are a total of 5 QTE’s. A QTE for every first encounter with; Saul,Theresa, Sonia, Carlos and on your second encounter with Ringo.

Before trying to solve a QTE, save the game. If you fail a QTE, the scorecard will show up. Don't press :cross: to continue, else it will auto-save. Instead, quit to the main menu and continue.

See the spoiler tag for a complete list on how to complete every QTE.

[spoiler=directorscut]

Directions such as up and down are all done with the right analog stick.

Ringo: left, down, :cross:, Shake controller (The action button :cross:, changes after every fail.)

Theresa: up, Shake controller, left (Never changes)

Sonia: left, down, right (Never changes)

Carlos: up, :square:, Shake controller (The action button :square:, changes after every fail.)

One shot (S)

Win all puzzles in one go

Same as with the ‘Director's cut’, you will have to win all the puzzles in one go. After every puzzle you will get to see a notice with your number of tries and time taken.

I highly suggest you use corky_g's Complete Walkthrough since it also contains solution's for every puzzle: Complete Walkthrough by corky_g

Before trying to solve a puzzle, save the game. If you fail a puzzle, the scorecard will show up. Don't press :cross: to continue, else it will auto-save. Instead, quit to the main menu and continue.

Express delivery (G)

Finish the game with a 100% completion rate as fast as you can!

See ‘A closed case’ on how to finish the game with a 100% completion rate.

This is basicly the same as the ‘A closed case’ trophy. However, this time you will have to complete the game with a 100% completion rate as fast as possible. The maximum amount of time you have is 2 hours. The first time I had a time of 2 hours and 9 minutes and didn't get the trophy. The second time I had a time of 1 hour and 34 minutes and got the trophy.

..I got both "I'm a legend" & "Express Delivery" by finishing the game in 1hr 55 mins..

To complete the game 100% in under 2 hours I highly suggest you use the complete walkthrough here: Complete Walkthrough By Corky_g

Some general tips:

  • Skip every conversation you can. Watch out with skipping to fast though, there are a few conversations that end up in you having to select the right answer/reply! But if you're going after this trophy on your second playthrough, you should remember how a few, if not all, conversations end.
  • Try to familiarize yourself with the conversations, puzzles and QTE’s first.
  • You can pause the game and still see the conversation, puzzle or QTE by pressing the :ps: button on your controller.
  • Save before a conversation, puzzle or QTE. If you fail, a scorecard will show up. Don't press :cross: to continue, else it will auto-save. Instead, quit to the main menu and continue. It doesn't matter if you fail a few conversations, puzzles and QTE's, (since you don't need an 'A' rank), but make sure you don't take too long on completing them.

Same as with the 'A closed case' trophy, if you fail to get a 100% completion rate after turning in the indictment, you can 'continue'. Check what you're missing and see if you can still manage to get it. Once done, submit the indictment again. If you're under the 2 hour mark you should get the trophy.

can you post the a pic of the completed puzzle for the security camera. I figure out how to complete it.

Need to polish up a few things and then I'll add a complete walkthrough with solutions and pictures ;)

EDIT: Dargh... This 10k char limit is killing me!

EDIT:

Added more details.

Added all the notes. Will add the detail of the notes later on.

Also, a polished walkthrough should be done tomorrow.

Now, I'm going to take a break and get some sleep :) 1am right now.

1 final playthrough to go for 100%!

Also, when I posted this, I thought it would end up on the second page. I've taken out the photos, but left the links...

Damn, I was about to upload a few pictures. Thanks :D

Also, the boiler slide puzzle already has a solution somewhere in the thoughts thread. Tested it out and it worked! :)

Yeah, I posted that. For anyone interested, the camera one is, using the same annotation system:

The first 2 letters aren't needed ;) Since you can only move the ones you can move. So you will only need the 'up, down, right etc'. There's a walkthrough coming up.

Only puzzle remaining is the slide puzzle for the Security Camera. Tried it yesterday, but messed it up :(

Yeah, I kinda figured, but I included them to help people who might like more control. I found it slightly confused me and I got a bit lost with just the final letter. Also, that thing I posted here, is the security camera one, which I also said. So, I've posted both of them.

Oh, lol. Didn't know they had the same solution! Thanks :)

They don't have the same solution. The one I posted here is not the same as the one I posted in the thoughts thread. They don't even have the same amount of moves. The security camera is 16, and the sewer thingy is 22, if I'm not mistaken.

So, just so there will be no misunderstanding. The solution posted in this thread, is for the security camera, and is not the same one as the solution for the sewer thingy that I posted in the thoughts thread.

Very excellent work :)

Nothing needs changing, but I do have a few suggestions.

Number of missable trophies: None

Aren't several of the trophies missable? (especially the 'Hot! Roast chestnuts…'). I only point this out because someone may have to do extra playthroughs just for certain trophies.

If you screw up, quickly press the button on your controller and quit the game

After each puzzle and QTE, the game gives you a "scorecard" that shows your grade, how long it took, and how many tries. The game doesn't autosave until after you click :cross: on your scorecard to continue, so no need to do it quickly. Also, retries or failures don't affect any of the trophies you have listed for the first playthrough, so there's no need to quit to XMB during the first playthrough.

Completing all objectives with help is not needed

I find this statement a little confusing. It should be "without help," or I would suggest changing it completely to something less ambiguous like: "Using Saul or buying hints do not affect this trophy" (in fact, I don't think using hints affect any trophy, so maybe put this at the top?)

For your trophy descriptions of 'I’m a legend,' 'Directors’s cut,' 'One shot': again, if someone needs to quit to XMB, there's no need to do it *quickly*. The game won't save until after you've successfully completed them AND clicked :cross: on your scorecard (but will count tries); QTEs will keep replaying until you get to a scorecard.

All in all, great job.

Now, I'm off to eat!

Thanks! :) Yeah, my native tongue isn't English (as you have probably noticed already), so some info might be little confusing.

About the 'quick' part. You're right. I was thinking about changing it, but never did.

Thanks for the heads up! Will change it right away and hopefully the 10k character limit wont get in my way :(

About the missable trophies. You're right. If you follow the guide, they aren't missable. But If somebody doesn't follow it completely, they might miss out on a few trophies.

EDIT: Done. Seperated the Roadmap from the Trophyguide because of the 10k char limit >_>

Also, about the missable trophies.. Probably only Chestnuts and Peeping tom are missable. If you don't fail all the QTE's and you don't have the 100%/A rank trophies, you need to do a third.

And chestnuts could easily give you another half a playthrough if you solve the puzzle, but not within 20 tries.

If you notice any flaws, please notify me :D Also, don't hesitate to correct me on my spelling/grammar mistakes ;)

Not quite sure why there is still no trophy difficulty thread; but anyhow, what do you estimate the difficulty to be?

Overall, the game is pretty easy. A few puzzles are were quite hard, but if you get stumped check the guide/walkthrough. I highly suggest if you play it, though, make an effort because it's satisfying to figure out the hard ones.

^This.

Without a walkthrough, I would say an average 3-4.
