Trophy Breakdown: 11 (B) 20 (S) 3 (G) 1 (P)

Introduction:

Record of Agarest War will be quite a long RPG to Platinum, so be prepared to spend quite a bit of time playing through the game. The reason for the high difficulty level is due to the strength of the enemies on HARD. Boss fights can be incredibly difficult on EASY, so now imagine them on HARD. You must also prepare yourself for a fight with a boss who is Level 999. After you've accomplished that, you must grind out the remaining titles you need. The missable trophies aren't all that missable if you're following the guide, however, there will be a point in the game when you can no longer get them.

Breakdown:

In your journey to earn Platinum, you have to decide which path you want to take. By "path," I mean... Do you want to start off on HARD now, or later? There are pros and cons to both methods and it's your decision:

1 Playthrough

  • Start the game on HARD.

For this method, you will be taking on the game straight on HARD. Experienced and patient players may want to take this path. It will save you a lot of time, however, the boss fights could prove to be quite frustrating.

Once you reach Generation 5, you'll be able to start creating ATK+999 and MAG+900 extra skills which can really help you through the remainder of the game if you make it this far.

2 Playthroughs

  • Start the game on EASY and New Game+ into HARD.

For this method, you will be playing the game twice. This method is recommended for impatient and inexperienced players. Though this method may seem longer if you're not that great at SRPGs, you'll find yourself wasting more time trying to progress through HARD than you would if you use New Game+ via this method.

Once you reach Generation 5, start grinding out as many ATK+999 and MAG+900 extra skills as you can and then proceed to beat the game. You can then start a New Game+ on HARD. Keep in mind, although a lot of things will not carry over, your extra skills will, so now you'll be able to start with godlike power. This makes the HARD playthrough nothing but a joke (until you reach the true ending).

Story Progression:

There's nothing to worry about or any specific details that need to be noted. Following the In-Depth Perfect Path guide is all you need to do, however, be wary of the various bride trophies and the "You Complete Me" trophy as they can be missed. Look under their trophy descriptions for more details.

After completing the main story, if you followed the In-Depth Perfect Guide, you should be in the True Ending now. At this point, you'll want to grind out the godlike ATK+999 and MAG+900 extra skills. If you're doing the first method (1 Playthrough on HARD), you need to start grinding out all your titles before finishing the True Ending. However, if you're doing the second method (1 Playthrough on EASY, 1 New Game+ Playthrough on HARD) you'll want to go ahead and finish the True Ending, then return and do the titles when you reach this point again on HARD.

Preparations:

PSN Game Add-ons

PSN has various add-ons to the game that can aid you in battles with powerful equipment and other things such as Gold, EP, TP and Party Points. Highly recommended add-ons:

  • Record of Agarest War Item Pack 13: Four Gods Kit
  • Record of Agarest War Item Pack 14: Meu + Koron Kit
  • Record of Agarest War Item Pack 16: Legend Kit

Read the descriptions to each add-on and see if you think they're worth the admission price. Don't worry about Gold and so forth; as you progress through the game, these will come easily. Keep in mind though that if you decide to do the second method, you will lose the add-ons on your second playthrough because most of the materials do not carry over.

Playstation Store - Record of Agarest Game Add-ons

Agarest Wiki

There is no physical strategy guide for this game, which is blasphemy for an RPG. Consequently, this wiki will become your best friend on the path to Platinum. The wiki provides practically all the information you need, however, the following links will prove to be the most helpful:

The wiki also provides complete lists of enemies, weapons, and every other bit of information you will need in order to complete the game. In-Depth Perfect Path outlines the best decisions for you to make, so you can get all the bride trophies, all character profiles, and everything else to 100%. Trick will explain the ATK+999 and MAG+900 distribution.

Record of Agarest Wiki

Conclusion:

The game is very enjoyable and a pretty rewarding Platinum compared to other JRPGs such as Final Fantasy XIII and Resonance of Fate. The trophies and the achievements for the game aren't the same, and as a manner of fact, there are fewer trophies than achievements. Luckily, you won't have to worry about one of the achievements which requires a lot of grinding and can add 50+ hours to your total time.

Make sure to check your titles. You can acquire titles at the Adventurer's Guild in town.

This should be one of the first trophies you get. Once you enter the first town and finish all the dialogue, you're given options to enter guilds and a shop. Enter the "Adventurers Guild" and select "Titles". There you will see a list of 152 titles, most of which are probably secret right now with a "????" in its place. Simply find and select a title you can earn, highlighted in green, for this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/548/03.jpgThe More The Merrier(B)

Execute a coordinated attack with six characters.

You must have 6 party members. The earliest point in the game you can accomplish this is after recruiting Zerva after the battle at Zelzagun Fort in Generation 1. You must connect all your party members during your movement phase before battle. How you can tell if a character will connect at a certain spot is by the yellow outlined squares shown when you select the character, also known as their extended areas. Your 6 man link looks like this after you set it up:

PkB00F6.png

On your first turn in the battle phase, have each party member set with at least one attack. After the final attack by the final party member, this trophy should unlock.

Note: It seems that for a majority of players this trophy will not unlock if you have your animations turned off, if that's the case simply go to your settings (in the battle menu) and switch them back on.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/548/04.jpgAlchemical Aptitude(B)

You have added an item to the shop. Keep doing alchemy to add more.

Much like "In Title Only," this will be one of the first trophies you unlock. When you enter the first town, one of the guilds that are open will be the Blacksmith Guild. Select it and you will be given the option to enhance your weapon or alchemize a new one. You can do either, but simply enhancing one of your weapons is a much easier choice.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/548/05.jpgCan We Keep Him?(B)

Captured a monster.

When you have the dark attribute skill Capture (the earliest you can get it is in a treasure chest in one of the quest areas), equip it to Zerva or Vira Lorr (they should be the only two who can use it at the earliest point in the game). In battle, weaken a monster down to a sliver of life remaining; the monster should be kneeling down to show it is weakened. Use the capture skill and pray that it works. The level of your characters' LUCK influences how often you can capture a monster.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/548/06.jpgI've Created a Monster!(B)

Combined monsters.

Look under "Can We Keep Him?" on how to capture a monster. Capture any two monsters and go into the Monsters Guild. Select combine and choose the two monsters you have captured. So long as you combine them, it will give you the trophy. It doesn't have to make a new monster (some combinations produce the same monster you're using to create it).

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/548/07.jpgWe Can Rebuild Them(B)

Created three marionettes.

After Generation 1, you will have access to the Alchemist Guild where you can make marionettes of the hero and heroines from previous generations. However, to make them you must first find Forbidden Books that are all located in quest areas, 1 book in each generation after the first:

  • Ancient Forest (Generation 2)
  • Frozen Woods (Generation 3)
  • Bibrest Mountains (Generation 4)
  • Uttara Kulu (Generation 5)

Keep in mind that making marionettes is expensive and the price increases depending on the character's level. If you want to keep the price low, don't use every heroine in each generation too often to the lower the amount you have to pay.

If you're having trouble affording these marionettes, keep in mind that you can net an easy 50,000 by selling one item. Go to the adventurers guild and select TP Exchange. Look for the item Vessel of Life which can be received for 25 TP. Sell the item in the shop and you'll always get 50,000 for it. If you ever have money problems, this is the perfect way to get money.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/548/09.jpgSpecial Delivery(B)

Used your first Special Art

You must combine two EX arts and create a combination attack out of it. The first one you should be able to perform includes Ellis' Shining Storm and Borgnine's Deadly Drive. If you're having trouble getting this naturally, simply have Borgnine be the only one to attack and have him placed near a majority of the monsters while Ellis heals. Once you have the appropriate amount of AP and SP to execute a combination attack, then do so.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/548/11.jpgWell-Read(B)

Every profile is now available.

To unlock character profiles, you must fulfill certain requirements and choose certain decisions to obtain them all. However, if you're following the In-Depth Perfect Path guide, you should be able to get this at the start of your next playthrough after defeating the True Ending. Your last character profile will be Chaos Dyshana and you'll unlock this trophy as you open the Character Profile data in the menu when it's at 100%.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/548/12.jpgI've Seen Everything(B)

Every item in the gallery is now available.

This will take a little longer than the Character Profiles. You must collect all the appealing Character Gallery images. You CAN get them all in one playthrough, however, it must be on HARD. Follow the In-Depth Perfect Path to get nearly half of the CGs, then the rest of the CGs are given to you in the form of "Secret Albums" as rewards from various titles. The secret albums given to you unlock CGs such as the cave CG in Generation 2 where you must choose which heroine you fall in the cave with. However, some titles aren't obtainable on EASY or NORMAL. You must be playing on HARD to get 100% on this. Once you open the Character Gallery when it's at 100%, this trophy will unlock.

Saw the true ending.

To unlock the true ending, you must meet the following requirements:

  • When taking over bases in the 5th Generation, go in the order Southwest (Lingen) -> North (Centan) -> Northwest (Vol Tuanor) and make sure you don't get a dark alignment in any of the forts.
  • Make sure Dyshana and Vashtor join your party. Dyshana will join so long as you're NEUTRAL during the event on Marena Highway. Vashtor will join so long as you DO NOT attack him for 7 turns during his fight.
  • Make sure you have all 4 Forbidden Books.
  • Have under 500 turns.
  • Be NEUTRAL after defeating the final boss of the main story.

If you meet these requirements after defeating the final boss, the game will continue with you in the Boundary Plane. To ensure you get all trophies and still meet the requirements for this, please follow the In-Depth Perfect Path Guide.

Note: It seems that if you choose Ellis as your final wife, after beating the true ending you will not get the trophy. So when given the option, pick another female. If you REALLY want Ellis, do it on a different save or on another playthrough.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/548/35.jpgTitular(G)

Earned every title.

There are a total of 142 titles in the game, all of which have you fulfilling various tasks. Some are easy and others are mind-boggling. You can only earn every title on HARD as some enemies needed for certain titles only appear on this difficulty. Earning all the titles could take a while, but so long as you're patient, you can earn them all in a matter of time.

List of Titles

Note: Keep in mind that for the All Weapons Title, you'll find that it's much easier to obtain a majority of the items on HARD in the Boundary Plane. Using skills such as EX Steal and killing enemies in this area with overkill will increase the chance of receiving weapons you need. This is much easier than having to find all the materials for alchemy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/548/01.jpgConsummate Consummator(P)

Earned every trophy

Congratulations, you are now one of the few to have Platinum in Record of Agarest War. You've earned your bragging rights!

Secret Trophies

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/548/10.jpgOops(B)

It seems something unexpected was created.

This is a random occurrence that can happen at any time when you’re performing Alchemy at the Blacksmith Guild. As you perform the alchemy, it will be interrupted with the blacksmith's face and it will produce a completely different item from what was intended. There are no factors that influence this happening, but because you'll be performing alchemy quite often in the game, this should come to you naturally.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/548/18.jpgWhat 10,000!?(B)

Dealt over 10,000 damage with a single blow.

You must deal at least 10,000 points of damage to the enemy in a single attack. If you decide to grind out the ATK+999 like I mentioned before, then this will come quite naturally to you later on in the game. However, if you decide to do it right now, the best way is to have Leonhardt use Howling Blade while his will power "Unleash All" is active. The attack is a one hit blow and should do well over 10,000 if your attack status is high enough.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/548/08.jpgYou Always Remember Your 500th(S)

The number of turns has exceeded 500.

When you have 499 turns displayed on your total turn counter, this trophy will unlock once you enter the next battle to give you your 500th turn. You will probably unlock this from the True End during all the grinding for various things, so you shouldn't worry about this too much.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/548/19.jpgElaine(S)

Elaine is my bride.

At the end of Generations 1-4, you are given the option to marry one of the three girls depending on their love interest in you. You must have a love interest of at least level 4 to marry the girl, but you won't get the trophy unless they are maxed out at a level 5 love interest in you. If you're following the In-Depth Perfect Path, you should end each generation with the girls all at a level 5 love interest in you.

  • Save before the last event of the generation and proceed with the wedding. When the trophy unlocks, skip the dialogue and reload your last save. Repeat with the other girls.
  • If for some reason it won't give you the trophy, it means you screwed up somewhere, so always have a separate save file before the love adjustment event and make sure you did everything correctly.

Elaine becomes a love interest in Generation 1. She will join your party during the event at Reganu Pass and she will start with a love interest level of 4 (if you followed the In-Depth Perfect Path guide correctly).

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/548/31.jpgWhy Did We Play God?!(S)

Created a special monster by combining other monsters.

For this trophy, you must create what is known as a god monster. Here are two ways of creating one, starting with the earliest:

For the formula to create a Luijt, capture the following monsters:

  • Mucrane (Gem Cave, Magna Val (Game add-on))
  • Angel (Gem Cave)

Combine these two and you can create a Luijt. However, if you feel that the Mucrane is too hard to capture, you can create it by capturing a Big Eye (Vovokas Pass) and combining it with a separate Angel.

You can also create an Evil Dragon, capture the following monsters:

  • Mist Dragon (Norace Plain)
  • Medusa (Ratlaris Plain)
  • Lesser Demon (Ratlaris Plain)

Combine the Medusa and Lesser Demon into a Dark Spirit (be wary though that sometimes it'll say the result will be a Light Spirit, cancel and try again and it should give you the option of a Dark Spirit) and then combine the Dark Spirit and Mist Dragon to create an Evil Dragon.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/548/32.jpgYou Complete Me (S)

You have been loved like there's no tomorrow.

For this trophy, you must marry a girl who has added affection for you past the love interest level cap of 5. If you're following the In-Depth Perfect Path guide, this would be impossible, so have a separate save before one of the love adjustment events, preferably the first one. When you want to go for this trophy, load that save and make decisions that always increase the love of one girl for you. Proceed past the boss fight of that generation and then marry the girl at the end. The trophy should unlock as the next generation starts.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/548/34.jpgConqueror of the Planes (G)

Defeated the last of the ancient gods

This trophy can only be unlocked on HARD. After defeating the Holy Dragon in the Boundary Plane, fight him again and more paths should open up. Once you have defeated every area in the Boundary Plane, this trophy should unlock. Be warned that the final boss of the Boundary Plane is Level 999 and a difficult opponent. Stock up on items, level up accordingly and equip your party members with suitable gear.

Just gonna add a few things to this...

The More The Merrier - I could be wrong about this one, but I think you need to have the attack animations on to get this one to pop up. I assume most people (myself included) have theirs set to "Skip" :D

Titular - There's only one Title that can be obtained on Hard, which is basically defeat Chaos on Hard (True Ending final boss). If you decide to do a New Game+, all titles will reset. You can claim them (and the rewards) again though, but any money and item based titles will require you to have enough of said items in your inventory (basically fulfilling the conditions) to claim them again. The True Ending titles also will not appear until you meet the conditions for the True Ending again, so you'll need to play through most of Gen. 5 to snag those again.

For Real This Time - This one is glitched, in a sense. After beating Chaos, it should pop up just after or around the screen where you see a girl (whoever you choose to marry Rex) holding a baby. The trophy will NOT pop up if you choose Ellis. You will get to choose who Rex marries in an event right before you go to fight Summerill, so pick someone other than Ellis (if you really want Ellis, make a separate save before this).

Why Did We Play God?! - Luijt is indeed the earliest one you can make I think. Trophy applies to any monster you can only obtain by combining other monsters (in other words a monster you can't capture, like most of those in the Boundary Plane). If you're farming for ATK +999 and MAG +900 you'll get this anyway. There's a pretty good list of monster fusions on gamefaqs by the_blood_wolf.

Boundary Zone Fusion List v1.0 - Record of Agarest War Message Board for PlayStation 3 - GameFAQs

Other minor little tips...

Money issues can be completely eliminated early on once you can exchange TP for stuff in the Adventurer's Guild. Exchange 25 TP for a Vessel of Life and sell it. Each one gives you 50,000.

For the all Weapons Title, playing on Hard will save you a lot of time. In the Hard only section of the Boundary Zone, many of the bosses possess high tier weapons, so make sure to steal them (and also use an EX skill that can steal for the rare items). Skips a lot of Synthesis :p

Thanks for the tips, For More the Merrier we had the same issue on the 360 version however i didnt know if it was the same on PS3

Ah so you basically have to playthrough the game AGAIN, you have to start New game+ to claim it. My friend told me he was able to continue in the true ending after beating the true ending boss ... i wasnt able to do that , i assumed it was because he was on hard and because i was on easy.

Thats odd, i got the achievement for it and i picked Ellis as my final wife. Is it possible this only applies for the PS3 version ?

Why did we play god, i was aware theres other monsters but i didnt want to go listing all of them n.n;

Im aware of those tips and i would like to include those tips but i wouldnt know where

After you beat Chaos, you can just load up your file and continue playing, for the postgame stuff and all, difficulty shouldn't matter.

I've only had the true ending, so I don't know if the other endings send you straight to NG+ or not. On a cleared True Ending save though, every time you load the file it gives you the choice of continueing or starting a NG+.

I only said the thing about Titles and NG+ for those that decide to do NG+. If you really, really want to, you can do everything in one playthough, provided you follow the perfect guide.

That glitch with Ellis and the True Ending trophy only applies to the PS3 version as far as I know. It happened to me on my first run, so I can verify that.

Did you beat the true ending on hard ? Cause that same thing happened to however i was playing on easy

Alright , ill be adding that in then

Question about the title for beating the game on hard - Record of Agarest War Message Board for PlayStation 3 - GameFAQs

Did you beat the true ending on hard ? Cause that same thing happened to however i was playing on easy

Alright , ill be adding that in then

Also any idea where i can include those tips without destroying the organization o.o Do you think we should make our own seperate thread for various tips ?

Well, you could always add the tips under the related trophies, I suppose. Should be plenty of room for it.

As for the Ellis thing, I did play on Hard for both of my playthroughs, but it has happened to others, but only on the PS3.

As for that post on gamefaqs, I'm hardcore rpg gamer there XD

But in short, you CAN continue playing after killing the final boss on the True Ending (Chaos).

The title in question for killing him on Hard should be 91 - Truth Holder (that's what the wiki says, may be translated differently for US, don't remember). So basically, kill him, save and load the file after the ending, grab Title. And keep on playing if you'd like for more titles or the Boundary Zone. You can pretty much do a NG+ whenever you feel like it, but you don't have to.

Really? When you load the file after killing the six gods, it should ask you if you want to continue with that game or begin a new one. Basically, the same thing Cross Edge does with the true ending and post game stuff, if you've played that.

If this board isn't totally dead (or gamefaqs either for that matter), maybe a few other people can input on that though, and see if difficulty is a factor or not, though it makes no sense for difficulty to be a factor outside of the Hard only section of the Boundary Plane.

Nope it didnt , i made the clear save file and i tried loading it and it went straight to new game+ it didnt give me the option to continue where i left off. Hopefully more people can input on it as you said

Oh, wow, that's really retarded. Totally sucks for people who are aiming for the Platinum, but don't start on Hard for their first (or only) run in the game, since going from Easy/Normal to Hard won't let you carry items over (I think).

Well, that answers that anyway.

Yeah they should let you carry over items , im not aware of the differences between easy and normal to hard , but from easy to hard i only got my extra skills, Gold, ep, tp and PP. Oh and when i got to the alchemist guilds i already had my forbidden books :]

Oh wow, thanks setsuna, great guide hopefully the ATK+999 and MAG+900 will still be with me when I start a new game plus on hard :p

Thanks :] It will, i did new game+ from easy to hard and it carried over, if you grind out like 30 ATK's and maybe 20 MAG's (max, no need for too much) you can easily 1 hit kill EVERYTHING xD

Wait, so you can do that all in 1 playthrough? And what about the marrying trophies? Can you marry every girl in one playthrough?

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/548/19.jpgElaine(S)

Elaine is my bride.

At the end of generations 1-4 you are given the option to marry one of the three girls depending on their love interest for you. You must have at least a love interest level of 4 to marry the girl however you wont get your trophy unless they are maxed at a level 5 love interest for you. If your following the In-Depth Perfect Path then you should end each generation with the girls at a level 5 love interest for you.

  • Save before the last event of the generation, proceed with the wedding and then when your trophy unlocks, skip the dialouge and reload your last save and repeat with the other girls
  • If for some reason it wont give you your trophy, it obivously meets you screwed up somewhere, so always have a seperate save file before the love adjustment event and make sure you did everything correctly again, if its not that you may have messed up somewhere in the generation

Elaine becomes a love interest in generation 1. She will join your party during the event at Reganu Pass and she will start with a love interest level of 4 (if you follow the in-depth perfect path guide correctly)

You can get all their trophies in one playthrough but you cant technically marry them all. Decide who you want bearing your child and proceed through the story marrying her after youve gotten everyone elses trophy for that generation

Oh I see, thanks for the answer. Anyway nice job on the guide, but I still have to REdownload the whole game, because of the data corrupt.... Oh boy..... 9,2GB is a lot.... I still don't know if I should follow the Perfect Way guide or play on my own the first time... Will I understand the Perfect Way guide when I start the game? Cuz now I am too confused to use it lol What I try to ask is if people like me (never played this game or anything simmiliar to it) will understand it too?O_o Or is it written with "missing steps only the pros can think of by themselves".

Ahaha yeah youll understand it pretty easily, just play the game with the perfect path guide nearby and it should all be common sense to you. Once you get to that area just follow what the guide says

Soooo I completed the main storyline and got to the Last Generation aka The True End, right in the beginning of it, although I am a bit scared of the last boss, which is LVL999.... I mean.... my characters are only level 105-106 now.... Is there even a chance to beat it? D:

+ Should I start with the gods or the "planes"?
