The game's story begins as Ratchet, Clank, and Al are abducted and forced to compete in "Dreadzone", a violent game show in which heroes are forced to kill each other. Ratchet is given a "DeadLock" collar, which will explode if he becomes uncooperative. Ratchet defeats Dreadzone's most successful gladiators, the Exterminators, and becomes one of Dreadzone's most popular contestants. Source

The majority of these trophies are based on unlocking skill points, so most won't unlock until you're about to board the "Battledome Control level"

People have been encountering corrupted save files, so back up your save file regularly. It is also highly recommended to make multiple save files to avoid corrupted save data.

Note on Possible Glitched Trophies: People have been encountering trophies not unlocking when they meet the requirements, however there is a possible way to resolve this: turn off your PS3 and restart the game and try again. This seems to have worked for a few people.

The most common glitched trophy is Dome-mination. To prevent it from glitching make a new save file before you complete the game AND before you complete the last challenge in the Battle Dome.

Completing the campaign (ie, starting challenge mode) also resets you bolt count to zero. Therefore you should attempt to obtain 4 million bolts on your challenge mode playthrough.

You may play on any difficulty and change it at any time.

Step 1 - Complete all Challenges and Dread Challenges up until you are able to board the Battledome Control Level

In this step you are going to complete all challenges and Dread point challenges. Once you complete all challenges on a planet, you are given Dread challenges, complete these to get 200,000 Dread Points. Do not worry so much about completing skill points until after you've completed all challenges. You will also need to buy all weapons and weapon mods in this step.

In this step, you will earn the following:

(G) The Showstopper

(S) Tri Me . . . .I Dare Ya!

(S) All 4 Me!?

(S) Nano-tastic!

(B) Dodge This . . .

(B) What Are These 4?

(B) Going Nowhere Fast

Step 2 - Complete all Skill Points (excluding the 3 that require you to play on Exterminator difficulty)

Once you are given liberty to enter the Battledome Control level, complete all skill points (excluding the 3 that require you to play on Exterminator difficulty). You can replay any challenge after you've completed it. All skill points show the requirement on how to earn them. Here is a guide for them: Skill Points Guide

In this step, you will earn the following:

(S) Line 'em Up

(S) Show Me The Money

(S) The Price of Freedom

(S) Epic-Flail

(S) Dome-mination

(B) Shock-King

(B) Meltdown

(B) Buggin' Out

(B) Ace Gets Clubbed

(B) Rookie

(B) Skill Points are Blooming!

(B) Runway Robots

(B) Selective Shooting

(B) Cat Scratch Fever

(B) Spotless

(B) Death From Above

(B) Landstalker Talkin'

(B) Gut Wrencher

Step 3 - Complete all challenges on Challenge Mode up until Planet Torval while upgrading all your weapons to level 10

This will be your second playthrough on "Challenge Mode". In this step you will be using the weapons that you haven't leveled up to level 10 while completing challenges until you reach Planet Torval. The reason for this is because there are 3 skill points that require you to play on Exterminator difficulty, which are only unlocked after completing the campaign. In Challenge Mode you are also given a 20x bolt multipler like on previous titles, so don't stress over earning 4 million bolts. It WILL come naturally.

You do not have to play challenge mode on Exrerminator difficulty entirely. Simply load a save game to change the difficulty at any time.

In this step, you will earn the following trophies:

(P) Hero of the Shadow Sector

(G) 4 the Win!

(G) Perfect!?

(G) Aiming is Overrated

(G) Maaaaadd Skills!

(S) Side Questing

Earn 200,000 Dread Points

Once you've completed all challenges on a planet, you are given the opportunity to play Dread challenges. They are no different than challenges, you just get more Dread points. If you complete all Dread challenges this WILL unlock before you've completed the campaign.

Here is a list of all Dread challenges:

DreadZone

Grist for the Mill

The Big Sleep

Catacrom Four

HoverBike Madness

Destruction Derby

Monuments of Death

Sarathos

Check Me Out

Swamp Fever

Kronos

Night Flight

Dark City Arenas

Avenger Tournament

Perfect Chrome Finish

Close and Personal

Shaar

Assault of Frozen Thundra

Shoot To Kill

Whack-A-Swamer

Robots in a Barrel

Oroxon

Heavy Metal

Endzone

Valix Belt

Time Extension

Your Land is My LAnd

The Corkscrew

Stygia

There are no Dread challenges on this planet.

Maraxus

Speed Trap

Spider On a Wire

Liberator Tournament

Dynamite Baseball

Less is More

If you complete all Dread challenges in order, you should have 200,000 Dread points before you reach the Liberator Tournament. Therefore, you do not need to complete them all.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1705/48F.jpg 4 The Win! (G)

Collect 4 Million Bolts

This will come naturally on your Challenge Mode playthrough, as Challenge Mode gives you 20 times as many bolts. It is possible to earn 4 million bolts on your first playthrough.

There are numerous reports that the requirements for this trophy reset when you start Challenge Mode, however, this WILL come naturally on your Challenge Mode playthrough.

Bolts are cumulative, which means that you do not have to have 4 million bolts all at once.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1705/23B.jpg Perfect!? (G)

Upgrade All Weapons to Level 10

You will most likely earn this on your second playthrough in Challenge Mode. Once you unlock Challenge Mode, you are able to purchase the XP Mod that doubles XP earned on weapons and experience. It costs 3 million bolts. You will earn a ton of bolts in challenge mode though due to the bolt multiply bonuses.

A quick method I have found was to replay the King of the Leviathans challenge in Sarathos. The Leviathans (green scorpion looking creatures) give you a ton of weapon experience. Just replay this challenge until you max out all weapons to level 10. Your ammo also replenishes upon restarting the challenge.

Note that The Harbinger weapon is also required to be levelled up to level 10 for this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1705/A08.jpg Aiming is Overrated (G)

Purchase the Harbinger Weapon

The Harbinger weapon costs 2 million bolts and it is highly recommended you purchase this in Challenge Mode. Bolts are cumulative, so you may purchase this and still get the 4 The Win! trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1705/9A2.jpg Maaaaadd Skills! (G)

Earn All 165 Skill Points

This is probably the hardest trophy in the game, however it is still pretty easy. All Skill Points show the requirements on how to earn them. 3 Skill Points must be done on Exterminator difficulty, which is unlocked upon completing the game. The 3 Skill Points are:

"Tough As Nails" in Catacrom Four

"Don't Be A Wimp" in Orxon

"Hard Luck" on Planet Torval

Skill Points also carry over so you may continue onto Challenge Mode and finish the rest, and difficulty doesn't change anything so you may change it at any given time.

Below is a Skill Points guide with all 165 Skill Points and how to earn them

Skill Points Guide

Make sure you complete all Skill Points on the planets after Planet Torval so you won't have to replay them again in Challenge Mode.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1705/FCF.jpg Line 'em Up (S)

Earn "In a Row" on Valix

Kill 2 enemies in one shot. This Skill Point can only be earned during the “Let the Light Shine Through” Challenge. Recommend using the Fusion Rifle with the Shock Weapon Mod on Swarmers.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1705/689.jpg Tri Me . . . .I Dare Ya! (S)

Upgrade 3 Weapons to Level 10

Please see Perfect!? for more details.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1705/406.jpg Side Questing (S)

Earn all the Skill Points on Torval

To earn this trophy, you must earn all 15 Skill Points on Torval, including "Hard Luck", so you will earn this in Challenge Mode.

Please note that the best challenge to earn these Skill Points is "The turn on".

The 15 skill points are:

Frenzied

You must turn 6 six Laser Backs (flying beetle creature) into animals with your Morph Mod. Use a Fusion Rifle for this. The only challenge that has 6 is "The turn on".

Bits And Pieces

For this Skill Point, you must kill 20 DZ Strikers (most common robots) with your B6-Obliterator.

Hard Luck

This Skill Point can only be done on your challenge mode playthrough. You must complete any challenge on Exterminator difficulty. Replay the first challenge and use your Fusion Rifle. There is a Turret here that can kill you in 2 shots, so have your bots EMP it with :left: and take it out with your Fusion Rifle.

Hard To Hit

This Skill Point is quite tricky but very doable. You must destroy all 12 drones in the "Seek and Destroy" challenge in under 2:45:00 or less. Just hold down :r1:. If you're too far behind you can turn around and wait for the drones to pass by and take them out.

Unfair Game

For this Skill Point, you must kill at least 15 enemies in 40 seconds with 3 different weapons and 3 different Mods. The best challenge for this is "The turn on".

Mined Out

For this Skill Point you must kill 30 Blade Balls with your Mine Launcher. The best challenge for this is "The turn on".

No Help

This Skill Point will unlock once you finish the "Seek and destroy" challenge.

Dead On

For this Skill Point, you must kill 10 Robot Zombies with the Napalm Mod. The best challenge for this is "The turn on"

Not A Scratch

This is done on "Seek and Destroy"

You cannot get hit by any barrel. To avoid this just shoot the barrels that are far away. This will also get you the In the Open Skill Point.

In the Open

For this Skill Point, just simply destroy 10 barrels. Use the machine gun with :r1: to destroy 10 explosive barrels.

Muniez

For this Skill Point, you must find and destroy all three jackpot crates (yellow crates) in "The turn on" challenge.

-The first jackpot crate is just north of the node that you need to activate with your wrench or bots. As soon as you active it, two DZ Strikers will spawn above you. Go up the metal walkway with your gravity boots and the first crate is at the end of this area.

- The second and third jackpot crate are near each other just southeast of the map. You will see two metal walkways, one going right and the other going left. Use your gravity boots on both walkways and in each route is a jackpot crate.

Stripped

This is earned as soon as you finish the "Seek and Destroy" challenge.

I'm Melting

For this Skill Point, you must kill 25 enemies with the Acid mod. "The turn on" is the best challenge for this.

Far Away From It All

You must kill 10 Executioners. This is only possible on "The turn on".

If you kill all enemies you should have 9. The last two spawn as soon as you touch the last node that's south on the map. Jump off the ledge and two Executioners will spawn below you. Make sure not to have your bots activate the nodes because if you activate it, it will end the challenge.

Quick Fix

This Skill Point is quite easy. Simply kill 5 Robot Zombies with your wrench. "The turn on" is the best challenge for this.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1705/65F.jpg Show Me The Money (S)

Earn "Show Me The Money" on the Ghost Station

For this trophy, you must destroy the 5 jackpot crates on the "Running the Gauntlet" challenge. The jackpot crates are the yellow looking crates.

Possible Glitch: It is possible that the crates respawn/don't respawn, so you might have to break all crates in one go. If they don't respawn then just break the ones that you are missing.

-The first crate is just near the second node going right. You will see it outside the room. If you can't find it, chances are you already broke it.

-The second crate is inside the second room on the right. It's above the walkway and you need the gravity boots to get up there.

-The third crate is in in the second room on the left side. It's also above the walkway and you need gravity boots as well.

-The fourth crate is in the second area after the swingshot. It's at the very end of this large room behind a pillar. Very easy to spot.

-The last crate is in the passageway just before you complete the challenge. It's on the left side on this passageway.

See 4 the Win! for details.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1705/346.jpg Nano-tastic! (S)

Increase Nanotech to 50

This will come naturally as having Nanotech at 50 isn't the max. Before you finish the campaign the first time, you should have your Nanotech at 60 or so. You may purchase an XP Mod in challenge mode that doubles your XP earned for 3 million bolts to boost this. I had about 80 Nanotech before I finished all Skill Points.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1705/98F.jpg Epic-Flail (S)

Earn Medieval Power in Valix

For this trophy, you must kill 50 enemies with the Scorpion Flail on The Valix Belt. The best challenge for this is on "Lost and Found".

Earn All Skill Points in the Dreadzone Battledome

*Glitched*

Several reports indicate that this trophy is glitched when you meet the requirements. To prevent this from happening, make a new save file right before you complete the game for the first time AND before you complete the final challenge in the Battledome.

You must earn all 15 Skill Points in the Dreadzone Battledome. You CANNOT earn all Skill Points until you're about to enter the Battledome Control level as some of these Skill Points are only available after unlocking all 5 Tournament challenges.

The 15 Skill Points are as follows:

Skillful

Kill 10 enemies in a row with the same weapon in the Dread Challenge "Grist for the Mill".

Fiver

Very easy. Kill 5 enemies in a row without taking any damage.

Get Some Balls

For this Skill Point, you must kill 5 Blade Balls within 15 seconds.

Ankle Biters

For this Skill Point, you must kill 10 swarmers (little creatures) within 10 seconds. The wrench is best for this early on.

The Protector

For this Skill Point, you must kill 4 tremors within 20 seconds. This will come naturally in the first challenge.

Eagle Eye

For this Skill Point, you must complete a challenge with 75% accuracy or more. I found the wrench the best weapon for this.

Can't Touch This

For this Skill Point, you must complete a challenge without being hit. The best weapon I found for this is the Magma Cannon.

Speedy

Complete "Manic Speed Demon" in less than 60 seconds. Again, the Magma Cannon is best for this.

Dead Again

This can only be completed in the "Zombie Attack" Dread challenge. You must kill 50 Zombie Robots before the timer runs out. This is much easier later on with fully equipped weapons.

The Bomb

Destroy 15 barrels in the "Zombie Attack" challenge. They fall from the sky.

Five in One

For this Skill Point you must kill 5 swarmers in one shot. Use a Shock Mod on a Fusion Rifle. Right after you encounter the first Dropship in "Grist for the Mill", a group of 5 swarmers will appear by the jumping platforms. This is the best time to kill 5 swarmers.

Two in One

This is very easy. Kill two enemies with your Fusion Rifle. Equip a shock mod to make this easier.

Reactionary

This is done on the "Reactor Battle" Dread challenge. You must destroy the reactor in 30 seconds or less.

Eviscerator Raider

This is best done when you fully upgrade your wrench. You must kill the Eviscerator boss in the "Eviscerator Battle" using only your wrench.

Alternatively, you can use the Scorpion Flail as well.

Credit goes to JOHNTWOK for this info.

Ace In The Hole

This is probably the hardest challenge in the BattleZone. You must defeat Ace in the "Ace Hardlight Battle" without being hit. I highly recommend you attempt this when you have a really strong weapon. You have to dodge a lot and jump to avoid being hit. Memorize his pattern. When he spawns other Aces, use you Magma Cannon to take them out quickly.

You must defeat Shellshock on the "Shellshock returns" challenge without being hit. The best method I found was to use a fusion rifle without using the scope and fire away. This can also be done on Couch Potato difficulty.

In this guide I will be covering all 165 skill points to earn you the Maaaaadd Skills! trophy. Each planet has 15 Skill Points to earn. There are a total of 11 planets including the DreadZone Battledome and 5 tournaments, however all tournaments share the same Skill Points as the DreadZone Battledome.

Creature FAQ

These creatures are in some of these Skill Points so I will be describing them in the best way possible.

Swarmer - Swarmers are very small and have three spikes on their foreheads. They die in one hit.

DZ Striker - They are the most common enemy in the game and the very first enemies you see in the tutorial.

Blade Ball - These balls come toward you and have a blade coming out of them. They are orange.

Tremor - These are most common on challenge arenas. They are green and attack you with a sword.

DreadZone Dropship - These are the ships that drop off enemies. You will need to destroy quite a few for skill points so always be alert for them.

Stalker Turret - These turrets have a blue shield around them. You will need to EMP it to disable the shield before you can destroy it.

Robot zombie - These are the green zombies that come out of the ground.

Leviathan - These are the green scorpion looking creatures.

Landstalker - These are the big spider looking robots that are highly effective. So EMP it as soon as possible.

Cycloid - These are the floating jellyfish looking robots. They usually travel in a small group and they are red.

Executioner - These are the big robots that carry an axe. Also highly effective.

Pincer Ray - These can only be found on Space ship challenges. They look like red stingrays and travel in very large groups.

DZ Berserker - The same as a regular DZ Striker except they wear blue armor.

Reapers - These enemies look like lizards with spikes on their back.

Laser Back - These look like big red beetles and they shoot lasers at you.

Most of these Skill Points will come naturally, however there are quite a few that are done on specific challenges and my guide provides all the best solutions.

[spoiler=94]Piece Meal

For this Skill Point, you must kill 20 enemies in a row with the B6-Obliterator. This challenge is quite easy and best done on "Monuments of Death". The only problem will be running out of ammo, so just restock at the ammo vendor.

Nap Time

For this Skill Point, your bots have to kill 15 enemies. Just walk around 15 enemies without killing them and wait for this Skill Point to unlock.

Put Em On Ice

Kill 15 enemies in a row using a Freeze Weapon Mod. This Skill Point can be earned in the “Running the Gauntlet” challenge. Use a Magma Cannon to make this easier.

Special Thanks

I wanna thank RSmit over at GameFaqs for granting me permission to use his Skill Points guide. However, in recent hot competition, I've decided to write my own Skill Points guide so thank you very much for the opportunity.

Although I did write this Skill Points guide from scratch, I did use his recommendations on the best "challenge" on most of the Skill Points and full credit is given to RSmit for that.

ESYLD once again, for making the banner and title images, thank you so much.

Excellent job WenchBear :applause: May the best guide win!

If this ever gets an EU release I'll pick it up to tide me over until the next "proper" Ratchet game. It's been too long since A Crack In Time (All4One doesn't count) :(

Although you're another bloody squiggle user (thread title). It's not even a Japanese game!

Great guide :applause:

Thanks. You know, your guide is pretty good as well so I'm not getting my hopes up. But yeah, hopefully this is a friendly competition and may the best guide win ;)

I never even played it, had too many games already. Guess I shouldn't bother then? :p

And that statement:

But yeah, it was a light-hearted poke at the thread title, the guide itself is great :)

DO NOT use multiple save files because it resets your bolt count. Use the same save file until you have earned 4 million bolts.

Yeah, as someone who used multiple save files after the game glitched out and erased my first one, I can confirm that this is completely incorrect. And not only is it completely incorrect, you're giving people advice that's likely to cost them the loss of their game progress and make it harder for them to get the trophies. That's the opposite of what guides should do.

And even if that was true (which it isn't), you have to play challenge mode for 3 skill points anyway. Challenge mode has a bolt multiplier which makes it the recommended mode for getting 4 million bolts in despite the fact that going to challenge mode resets your bolt counter. And in challenge mode you can easily earn 4 million bolts in 30 minutes, maybe less, just by burning through 2 or 3 planets. So even if multiple saves did reset your bolt count (which it doesn't), when it's so easy to start over from 0 again, having one trophy not glitch (which it won't anyway) wouldn't be worth the risk of losing all of your progress and having to replay the game from square one and re-earn all the skill points again just for platinum.

But again, multiple save files does NOT reset your bolt count, as I manually saved on a new slot after every planet during challenge mode and still got my 4 million bolts trophy at the start of Kronos.

There's also other errors, such as in Show Me The Money where you claim that it doesn't have to be done in one go. It does because the jackpot crates come back every time you start the challenge over. You can't get three during one run and then come back later to get the last two, you have to do it all in one run because they come back.

I never even played it, had too many games already. Guess I shouldn't bother then? :p

Don't let the All 4 One haters stop you from enjoying a great game. It's not traditional Ratchet and Clank, but it's still fun in its own right. Worth your time if you approach it with the correct mindset rather than going "Ugh it's not traditional Ratchet and Clank so it sucks" like so many close-minded people have done.

Funny, because before i started challenge mode i was on my 5th save file and already had more than 4 million bolts. The trophy didn't pop for me. After i used my 4th save file which had about 2 million bolts, i carried on challenge mode and the trophy popped before i hit 4 million bolts. So no, don't assume that I'm incorrect when you aren't sure yourself. This is based on MY experience and I'll be glad to add more information when i see more reports of others.

Actually they didn't for me.

I went back multiple times to see if they respawn and they don't. Before i got this trophy i only broke 2 crates because the third was gone.

I WILL add this to the guide though that it's possibly glitched, thanks for the info.

Just want to point out that maybe you should put a glitch warning for dome-nation. It glitched on me. I got the gold skill point trophy, but not this one.

It's in the introduction, but i'll make a small note of it, thanks.

Note on Possible Glitched Trophies: People have been encountering trophies not unlocking when they meet the requirements, however there is a possible way to resolve this, turn off your PS3 and restart the game and try again. This seems to have worked for a few people.

I'll look into this guide when I get the game WB! :applause:

How is this compared to All4One and A Crack In Time? And R&C 1? Because those three are are the ones I've tried so far.

I haven't played this before so can't judge too much, but it's a completely different type of game from what I've seen. It's more like a collection of arena battles like the ones you get on the different planets in the main games rather than a third-person shooter/platformer hybrid.

I took a different route than most people regarding R&C, starting with All4One. Noticed a lot of the seasoned players were hating on that, but I actually enjoyed it. But then it took me quite a while to get used to the "original" gameplay in "A crack in time".

Better than All 4 One in my opinion. A Crack In Time was amazing though so It's not as good. Worth checking out though. :)

Yeah, the story wasn't great but at least the gameplay still had an original feel to it like the previous games.

when did this release?

Last Tuesday on the Playstation Store. It's free if you bought Full Frontal Assault and $9.99 if you didn't. A EU release date hasn't been set yet that i know of.
