The Ratchet and Clank series began back in 2002 on PlayStation 2. This latest version of PlayStation 4 is a "remake" of the original (first) game. This is not a basic HD rendering: it was updated in several areas with one being over an hour of extra cut scenes. This video game ties directly in the with Ratchet and Clank movie that was released in 2016.

Some might complain that it's just the same game over again, but it certainly did not feel that way to us. If you are unfamiliar with this series, it is at its core a platforming game mixed with some humor, adventure, mild RPG element of "leveling up", a great story-line. Throw crazy weapons into the mix and it's just plain fun, plus the violence level is low as there is no blood or gore or anything like that.

f2PcCEc.png

If you activate the Infinite Ammo cheat it will prevent all of your weapons from gaining experience during use. This will prevent progress for the Maximising Potential and Master of War trophies.

If you activate the Invincibility cheat it prevents Ratchet from gaining experience. This will prevent progress for Mr. Fancypants.

In both cases, simply turn off the cheat and you will be able to continue as normal for these trophies.

JvBwdu5.png

The game has three difficulties available from the start: Easy, Normal, and Hard. None of the trophies are tied to these difficulties so choose whichever you would prefer. Both regular play and Challenge Mode have these difficulty choices.

Once you have completed your first playthrough, you will be required to perform a second full playthrough to unlock the platinum trophy. This is called Challenge Mode, which is really a NewGame+ versus a "difficulty" level. All collectibles and status from your first playthrough will carry into your Challenge Mode playthrough; the one exception is anything related to the story such as the Gadgets that you have collected. The only 2 gadgets that cross over are the Map-o-Matic and the Box Breaker.

Make note of the four missable trophies and their requirements, especially Death by Disco.

Step 1: First Playthrough

Play through the story

You can tackle this step solo, or combine it with step 2 below. This step will take you through the story trophies upon which you will unlock:

Basically Training (B)(H)

The Little Robot That Could (B)(H)

The Rescuer (B)(H)

Off To The Races (B)(H)

You're In The Rangers Now (B)(H)

Who's A Good Snagglebeast? (B)(H)

Braaaaaaaaaaaains (B)(H)

I Shot Down Your Battleship (B)(H)

Splashdown! (B)(H)

Zurkon Family Values (B)(H)

Ferocious Oxide (B)(H)

A Change Of Heart (B)(H)

The End Of The Beginning (G)(H)

Step 2: Action Trophies

Visit previous planets to unlock action trophies

There are many hidden trophies in this game that require you to perform a specific action(s) in a specific spot. These can be done during story mode, or by visiting a previously visited location. If you perform these trophies in the planetary order that the story progresses then you might unlock them in this order:

Modder (B)

Trade Up (B)

I Hate Lamp (B)(H)

Kerwan Gladiator (S)

That Sinking Feeling (B)(H)

Not My Job (B)(H)

Winner Winner Sandshark Dinner (B)(H)

Faster than a Speeding Amoeboid (S)

Top Gunner (B)(H)

Pool Sharks Are The Worst (B)(H)

Clank Crusher (B)(H)

Warbots Into Ploughshares (B)(H)

Character Assassination (B)(H)

When Sheep Fly (B)(H)

Radical (B)(H)

Lazy Lombax (B)(H)

Et tu, Copernicus? (B)(H)

Kalebo Thunder (S)

Go Speed Ratchet, Go! (S)

There are also some collectible trophies and we will list them separately to see what you are up against. You might want to leave collectibles for your second playthrough because the Map-o-Matic gadget carries over into Challenge Mode (if you have obtained it). This gadget shows all static card packs, raritanium crystals, and gold bolts on the map. This way you wouldn't have to backtrack in your first playthrough, but it really boils down to your playing style. Finding all collectibles unlocks:

Trader In Training (B)

Safecracker (S)

Abby Normal (S)

Tech Head (S)

Ultimate Explorer (S)

Full Gun Rack (S)

Super Trader (G) - Start

Since the nature of Super Trader is random card collection, we recommend doing the best you can in your first playthrough and complete during your second playthrough. Save all of your duplicate cards until you get down to just a few cards left to find.

This trophy is rather unique so we will list it by itself. Start on this trophy in your first playthrough and complete it in your second playthrough to unlock:

Death By Disco (B) - Start

Step 3: Second Playthrough

Play through the story in Challenge Mode

After you defeat the final boss you will be taken back to the main menu and two new options will now be available: Challenge Mode and Continue. Continue allows you to keep playing your last playthrough whereas Challenge Mode starts a new playthrough. So it is in your control when you would like to move into Challenge Mode.

Known issue that is not yet fixed (quote from the developers):

***There is one open issue we are investigating where a player can lose their weapons (back to the vendor) when starting a new Challenge Mode. We believe the issue is starting Challenge Mode from Clank gameplay. We advise you either click Challenge Mode right after the final boss OR make sure you are Ratchet when starting a new Challenge Mode.

Note that you will begin Challenge Mode exactly where you were at when you last defeated the final boss. So if you defeat the final boss, then Continue and do a bunch of more stuff, you will need to defeat the final boss again so that your game clear data updates with your current status and items.

Patch 1.03 claims to have fixed issue where XP/levels gained after final boss would not carry over to new Challenge Mode. Overall it is strongly recommended that you apply the latest patch as soon as you can.

This playthrough will allow you to unlock:

Cha-ching! (B)

Super Trader (G) - Complete

Death By Disco (B) - Complete

Master of War (S)

These Go To Eleven (S)

Mr. Fancypants (S)

Maximising Potential (S)

Challenging (S)

8OQJvFj.png

All planets and locations can be replayed whenever you want (after they are initially unlocked). Most trophies you can backtrack for, but if you happen to miss any of the 4 missable trophies then there is no fix other than to start a third playthrough.

Once all individual trophies are out of the way, the The Hero of Heroes (P) trophy will be yours.

Collect every trophy in Ratchet & Clank

This unlocks after collecting all of the other trophies.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/163.jpg Super Trader (G)

Complete every holocard set.

(Collectible)

This is a new concept for the Ratchet and Clank series in that holocards have been added as another type of collectible. There are two types of holocards: Standard and RYNO. There are 33 Standard holocard sets and only 1 RYNO holocard set. A Standard set consists of 3 holocards whereas the RYNO set consists of 9 holocards. This gives us a grand total of 108 unique holocards to collect.

As per the game's description, Standard holocards can be randomly dropped by defeated enemies as you play through the game. Additionally, there are several locations scattered through the areas where a "pack" (2-5 cards) can be located. These holocard packs are even tracked by the Map-o-Matic gadget that you can acquire on the planet Kalebo III. Even though these are referred to as "packs", they are still a random collection of cards (they are not always the same card in the same location).

The RYNO holocards work a bit differently. Each one is located in a specific location that does not change; there is no random element to these specific holocards. As such, the RYNO cards are not missable.

There is a Card Collection sub-menu within the game that is very good at summarizing where you are at with the collection process. For this reason we see no benefit to reproducing the list here. The extremely good part is that the developers also added a "duplicate card" process where you can turn in 5 duplicate cards to pick any Standard holocard that you have not found yet. There is one caveat to this in that you must have at least one card from the 3-card set before you can use duplicate cards for the other 2 cards in the set. Duplicate cards may not be used for missing RYNO holocards.

As you progress through the game, you will accumulate duplicate holocards. You won't actually know which ones are duplicates, but the Card Collection area does give you a solid number of how many that you have. We highly recommend leaving these duplicate cards towards the end of your collection journey so that you can unlock those last few holocards that you have not found (versus farming enemies). This duplicate card concept makes this trophy not such a big deal.

Completing sets unlocks abilities within the game, such as double Wrench damage, increased holocard drop rate, etc. It is also required for unlocking all Omega weapons within Challenge Mode. See Master of War.

Your Card Collection status will transfer with you into Challenge Mode, so you do not have to complete them in one playthrough. In fact, we recommend doing this so you can avoid or minimize farming. The trophy will unlock once you collect the final card.

You can increase the card drop rate by upgrading your weapons. Some (not all) have perks that will increase the drop rate.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/87e.jpg Challenging (S)

Complete the game in Challenge Mode.

While this trophy is not glitched, there is a major glitch that can cause you to lose all of your weapons. Refer to the Roadmap for more information.

This mode is not available from the start and you must complete a previous playthrough in order to unlock it. It does not matter which difficulty you use for your first playthrough. This trophy right here is what requires you to complete 2 full playthroughs.

For this game, Challenge Mode really means "New Game Plus". Once you beat the game the first time, a game save will be created with all your current stats. Beginning Challenge Mode will bring forth all of your current stats and begin a new story playthrough at a much higher difficulty. The developers do a fantastic job of making this transition seamless by making the difficulty match where Ratchet should end up after a full playthrough, so you really won't notice a difficulty spike.

The trophy will unlock after defeating the final boss a second time in Challenge Mode.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/60a.jpg Ultimate Explorer (S)

Collect every gold bolt.

(Collectible)

There are 28 gold bolts that you must collect in order to unlock this trophy. None of these collectibles are missable as you can always head back to a previous location once you have unlocked it. Additionally, this game sports a Challenge Mode which basically means NewGame+. This mode allows you to take almost everything from your previous playthrough into a new game, and this includes which gold bolts you have previously collected and which you have not.

Some of these gold bolts do require a specific weapon and/or ability in order to reach them so some will require you to backtrack before you can grab them. You can find a Map-O-Matic on planet Kalebo III that will reveal the location of every gold bolt on your maps. Usually finding or seeing the gold bolts isn't the problem; the problem is figuring out how to reach it.

During the planet selection screen (when backtracking), each planet will display how many gold bolts are possible and how many you have already collected. Your total gold bolt collection can be found on the Pause screen.

87f.jpg Full Gun Rack (S)

Acquire every weapon in the game.

There are 14 weapons included with the base game that are required for this trophy. The game will record which weapons you have underneath the Weapons sub-menu. The Bouncer weapon, which was a pre-order bonus at certain distributors, is not needed for this trophy. The following list is the earliest order you can collect these weapons in the game. Most weapons are only available for purchase at the Gadgetron Vendor after you progress a certain distance in the story, at which point all vendors will have the weapon available for purchase. You should not need to "farm bolts" for these as we had enough (or extremely close) when the new weapons were available for purchase.

  1. Fusion Grenade - Veldin - Your first story visit.
  2. Combuster Veldin - Your second story visit.
  3. Pyrocitor - Novalis - Vendor
  4. Proton Drum - Novalis - Vendor
*Bouncer - Novalis - Vender (pre-order bonus only)
  5. Mr. Zurkon - Kerwan - Vendor
  6. Groovitron - Rilgar - Vendor
  7. Pixelizer - Rilgar - Vendor
  8. Predator Launcher - Nebula G64 - Optional mission: "Search the Blarg Warship for weapons"
  9. Plasma Striker - Gaspar - Vendor
  10. Warmonger - Batalia - Vendor
  11. Buzz Blades - Quartu - Vendor
  12. Glove of Doom - Deplanitizer - Vendor
  13. Sheepinator - Kalebo III - Vendor
  14. RYNO - Rilgar - Optional mission to find 9 RYNO holocards. See Super Trader

3c2.jpg Master of War (S)

Upgrade every weapon to maximum level.

Note: The Infinite Ammo cheat, disables this trophy by precenting weapons from levelling up.

Before you can complete this trophy you must acquire all of the available weapons. See Full Gun Rack

In order to upgrade a weapon, you must use it against enemies. Shooting off into space does not work; the weapon will only earn "experience" if it damages or defeats an enemy. Some weapons level faster than others, but none are difficult. You can check each weapon's current level and progress at any time in the Weapons sub-menu or on-screen when that weapon is selected.

During your first playthrough weapons can only be upgraded to level 5. However, in order to unlock this trophy you must upgrade all weapons to level 10. This is only possible during a second playthrough in Challenge Mode. The current level of each weapon from your previously playthrough will be brought forward when you begin Challenge Mode so you do not have to start at level 1 again.

There is one additional requirement added in this rendition of the game that is different from previous Ratchet and Clank titles: holocard sets. Collecting a holocard set (3 unique cards) of a specific weapon unlocks it within Challenge Mode. Until this happens, you cannot move to level 6+ for that weapon. There is a separate trophy for holocards: see Super Trader.

We recommend focusing on a specific weapon before moving on to others (as long as you have ammunition). However, you can certainly upgrade in any order that you wish. The trophy will unlock as soon as the final weapon hits level 10.

The Bouncer weapon does not count for this trophy.

Refer to the Cha-ching! trophy for two farming locations.

991.jpg These Go To Eleven (S)

Unlock every modification for every weapon.

Every weapon has the possibility of upgrades by trading Raritanium. Raritanium is dropped randomly by enemies and sometimes you can find Raritanium crystal deposits scattered across the planets. These Raritanium crystal deposits are tracked by the Map-o-Matic gadget that can be acquired on Kalebo III.

Weapon upgrades can only be done through a Gadgetron Vender; press :square: to enter the Upgrade sub-menu. Once here you can select any weapon you wish to upgrade. Available upgrades are linked to the weapon's current level. Each level of the weapon can unlock more upgrades. In other words, you might not be able to fully upgrade a particular weapon until it has reached its maximum level. Even though you reach 100% upgrades with a weapon at level 6, that percentage probably will drop by the time you get the weapon to level 10.

The trophy will immediately unlock once the final weapon is fully upgraded.

The Bouncer weapon does not count for this trophy.

Refer to the Cha-ching! trophy for two farming locations.

e34.jpg Mr. Fancypants (S)

Upgrade Ratchet's health to maximum level.

Note: The Infinite Health cheat, disables this trophy by preventing you from levelling up.

Ratchet begins the game with 10 hit points. As he defeats enemies his experience bar will move (located directly underneath his hit points). Every time he "levels up" this bar will reset and he will gain an additional 10 hit points. During your first playthrough you can only get Ratchet's health to 100. You must enter Challenge Mode in your second playthrough to continue all the way up to 200.

You can view Ratchet's current and maximum health by pressing and holding :triangle:. The trophy will unlock immediately after that final "level up" to 200 health.

37d.jpg Tech Head (S)

Acquire every gadget.

Upon initial release this trophy was very glitchy as to when it would unlock. With the latest patch, this glitchiness has been fixed. However, the RYNO weapon is also now required when initially it was not.

There are 17 gadgets that are required for this trophy. The game will record which gadgets you have underneath the Gadgets sub-menu. All you need to do really is just complete all missions for every planet and you will end up with all of the gadgets; you don't really even need to use the list below. In other words, none of the gadgets are "hidden". The following list is the earliest order you can collect these gadgets in the game.

  1. Omniwrench 8000 - Ratchet starts with it.
  2. Swingshot - Ratchet starts with it.
  3. Hydropack - Clank starts with it.
  4. Helipack - Received partially through Kerwan story mission.
  5. Hoverboard - Complete Aridia story mission.
  6. Hydrodisplacer - Complete the Swingshot course on Aridia to find the item at the end.
  7. Trespasser - During an automatic conversation on Rilgar when you learn about RYNO holocards you will be given this for free.
  8. Gadgebot Transformer - Acquire at the beginning of Clank's Nebula G64 story.
  9. Magneboots - Complete Clank's Nebula G64 story.
  10. Grindboots - Complete Gaspar story mission.
  11. Jetpack - Complete Gaspar story mission.
  12. Box Breaker - Complete Gaspar side mission. See Abby Normal.
  13. O2 Mask - Pokitaru optional mission at the Pumping Station.
  14. Map-o-Matic - Kalebo III mission: Ride the grindrail.
  15. Thrusterpack - Complete Pokitaru story missions.
  16. Hologuise - Win the Bronze Cup Hoverboard race on Kalebo III.
  17. RYNO - Optional mission to find 9 RYNO holocards. See Super Trader

The trophy will immediately unlock once you have collected them all.

094.jpg Abby Normal (S)

Collect every Telepathopus brain.

(Collectible)

This trophy takes place on planet Gaspar. There are 90 brains that you must collect for this trophy; 30 of them are required to continue the story (see Braaaaaaaaaaaains). Single brains are dropped by large red egg pods and triple (3) brains are dropped by the fully grown mini-bosses that are floating around.

You must first acquire the Jetpack to finish this trophy. After handing in the 30 brains to continue the story, the same NPC asks for 60 more one final time. There is on on-screen counter that you can visually follow to reach the full count that you need for this trophy.

Almost all are in plain sight, but some are high up in the sky and there are a couple of underground tunnel areas that you will need to search as well. You probably will want to wait until you acquire the Map-o-Matic gadget on Kalebo III as it will display the locations of all remaining brains. Handing in the 60 brains to the NPC will unlock this trophy and grant you access to the Box Breaker gadget as a reward.

722.jpg Go Speed Ratchet, Go! (S)

Win the Gold Cup on both Rilgar and Kalebo.

As the description states, you must come in first place in the Gold Cup in both hoverboard races. Refer to the trophies Faster than a Speeding Amoeboid and Kalebo Thunder for tips on how to do this. It is possible to unlock these other trophies but still come in second place so the only thing you can do is keep trying!

d15.jpg Safecracker (S)

Complete every Trespasser puzzle without using AutoHack.

(Missable)

There are 16 Trespasser puzzles that you must complete in order to unlock this trophy. This trophy is missable because the game allows you to skip any and all of these puzzles if you wish (via :square:) but if you do so it will lock out this trophy in your current playthrough. The good news is that if you do accidentally press :square: there is a secondary confirmation screen asking if you are sure you want to do that. Cancel that!

As long as you do not press the :square: button on any of these puzzles, you may backtrack at any time to a previous location to complete any puzzle that you may have missed. Many of these will be story required, but some are optional. There is no visual game tracker for this trophy so you need to keep a record of which ones you have completed.

In order to complete these puzzles, you must have the Trespasser weapon. You cannot miss this gadget as the first puzzle at Rilgar is required for story progression.

Upgrade one weapon to maximum level.

Note: The Infinite Ammo cheat, disables this trophy by precenting weapons from levelling up.

See Master of War.

c41.jpg Faster than a Speeding Amoeboid (S)

Complete the hoverboard Gold Cup on Rilgar in under 1:35

You must complete both the Bronze Cup (see Winner Winner Sandshark Dinner) and the Silver Cup in order to unlock the Gold Cup. There is no room for error to complete the Gold Cup in less than 1 minute and 35 seconds. If you hit an explosive crate then start over as the time lost you cannot recover from it. Use wooden crates and blue rings to fill and constantly use your manual boost and hit as many boost ramps as you can. The trophy will unlock at the Results screen at the conclusion of the race providing Ratchet's time is less than 1:35. This took me about 20 retries.

In all my retries, we easily had first place every time (the fastest second place ever was only around 1:50) but a couple of other people have posted getting second place with a time in the 1:30s. It was reported by Malekith24 that when completing with a time of 1:33 and in second place, the trophy did not unlock. So you must also be in first place.

This can be made significantly easier by enabling both Slow (underneath Game Speed) and Invincibility underneath Main Menu, Extras, then Cheats. These cheats are unlocked by collecting gold bolts.

4cb.jpgKalebo Thunder (S)

Complete the hoverboard Gold Cup on Kalebo in under 2:05

This racing trophy is easier than the other one because you can make one or two small mistakes and still make it in time. Absolutely take the shortcuts (activate the 3 rings to open the shortcuts to the right) every time. See Faster than a Speeding Amoeboid.

9d6.jpg Kerwan Gladiator (S)

Complete the Fitness Course on Kerwan in under 70 seconds.

After the introductory mission on planet Kerwan, you will be taken to Captain Qwark's Fitness Course. This is a story required event, but this trophy requires you to do it quickly. This trophy is not missable because you can retry as many times as you need. As soon as you start jumping a loud horn sounds signifying that the timer has begun. There also happens to be a gold bolt at the finish line.

Unfortunately there is no visual tracker of how much time has passed so just keep trying until you can do it fast enough. There is no real secret for this one other than learning all of the jumps. Do not try to hit any crates for bolts. The trophy will unlock when you land on the final platform in less than 70 seconds.

Use the Groovitron on every type of enemy.

(Missable)

This trophy is one that you have to keep in mind throughout your entire Challenge Mode (second) playthrough. It is extremely missable as several of the enemies only appear once (or a handful) of times in the entire game. If this does happen to you, the only thing you can do is restart Challenge Mode and try again in a third playthrough. Become a Groovitron spammer!

There is no visual tracker of this trophy so the only way you will know which enemies you made dance is up to you: keep a list! The good news is that whatever your progress is, it does cross over into Challenge Mode. In other words, if you start this mode and only have 1 enemy type left from the first playthrough, then you only need to make this last enemy type dance in the second Challenge Mode playthrough. (Note that you will have more than 1 enemy type left when you start Challenge Mode, but you get the point).

While it has been confirmed by many that you can take progress from Normal Mode into Challenge Mode, it was confirmed by Audacious that progress does not cross over between two different Challenge Mode runs.

It was further confirmed by Audacious that progress is shared between the Groovitron and the Groovibomb (upgraded version). Additionally, using the Invincibility and/or Infinite Ammo Cheats do not affect this trophy.

This trophy can be glitchy. While many people had no trouble unlocking it across multiple playthroughs, there are several other people who only succeeded after completing all dances in a single playthrough. So it is recommended to try to use the Groovitron on every type of enemy in one playthrough.

You do not have to wait for the Groovitron dance to end for it to count. As soon as you see the enemy's dance animation you are free to kill it. Personally, we threw the globe, waited about 3 seconds (long enough to see the dance animation), and then unloaded my weapons.

The trophy will immediately unlock once you have made every enemy type dance.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/3cf.jpg Trader In Training (B)

Complete your first holocard set.

See Super Trader.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/72b.jpg Modder (B)

Complete your first Raritanium weapon mod.

The first time that you reach planet Novalis, the game will teach you how to upgrade weapons using Raritanium. In fact, you will be required to finish a Tutorializer weapon upgrade (a fake example). After it is complete you can then optionally upgrade any current weapons that you have.

You earn Raritanium by defeating more difficult enemies or finding it; from your perspective it will be random. The Map-o-Matic will also track some rare Raritanium rocks on each planet. You must use a Gadgetron Vender to perform upgrades (see These Go To Eleven). This trophy will unlock when you successfully apply your first Raritanium upgrade.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/693.jpg Cha-ching! (B)

Reach the maximum bolt multiplier in Challenge Mode.

During Challenge Mode there will be an on-screen bolt multiplier that will increase as you fight enemies. Down time does not cause it to reduce, but leaving the area or getting damaged will. You should quickly get to x10 without any problem but getting to the maximum x20 you need to be paying attention. It is advisable to start using range or area of effect weapons once you get past x10 to avoid damage.

If you collect all of the gold bolts there is a game cheat that allows Invincibility. Turning this on does not help maintain your multiplier.

Farming

The Aridia Skidd McMarx story mission (early game) and the Kalebo III story mission (late game - takes you through the three test robot rooms) are definitely the best two places to farm this bolt multiplier, bolts, and experience. We really do not see a great place after you have completed the game.

There is a tidbit that makes this trophy very easy that should work most anywhere though. Here's how:

  1. Head to Aridia and talk with Skidd McMarx to start the Sand Shark quest. You should see an on-screen counter that says 88 Sand Sharks remaining. (Again, this should work with mostly any checkpoint area on any planet).
  2. Defeat almost all of them. STOP before that counter reaches 0. These little guys only use melee, there are no range enemies in the area, and they perish quickly against pretty much any weapon attack. Without getting hit your multiplier will go up.
  3. As long as at least 1 of those Sand Sharks is left, use the menu to Quit the game (yes, quit). You will go back to the main menu.
  4. From the main menu, Continue the game. You will be back at the beginning of the mission, with the same ammo and enemies that you had when you previously started. Any bolts, experience, and multiplier will still be in effect.
  5. Repeat this over and over until the multiplier hits x20. It only took us 3 restarts to do it.

The trophy will unlock once you see x20 on your game screen in Challenge Mode.

The Aridia location is perfect for increasing your bolt multiplier as is the third Kalebo III test robot room. However, either location is great for quickly earning bolts and earning experience. If you do use the Kalebo III test robot rooms, any of the rooms work well but do not exit the room before you press Quit and then Continue (or else you will move your game checkpoint forward).

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/516.jpg Trade Up (B)

Trade in a set of duplicate holocards for a new one.

This was missable upon initial game release but that is no longer the case with the latest patch.

While this trophy really is technically missable, you would almost have to try to miss it. You may trade in duplicate holocards for any missing Standard holocards in your collection. This trophy is missable because if you happen to complete all 33 holocard sets without ever trading in duplicate cards, at that point this trophy would be locked out.

As you progress through the game, Ratchet will collect cards that are randomly dropped by enemies or found in secret areas. The cards that you find are random and you are guaranteed to start getting duplicates. You can check how many duplicate cards you have within the Card Collection menu. Eventually you will gather enough duplicates that the game will inform you that you can trade for a new card. It takes 5 duplicates to trade for a new card. You are able to unlock a currently locked Standard card (not a RYNO card) for every 5 duplicates. This trophy will immediately unlock the first time that you do this.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/b72.jpg The End Of The Beginning (G)(H)

Defeat Dr. Nefarious on the Deplanetiser.

Story related and cannot be missed.

[spoiler=1]

This battle immediately begins after fighting Qwark and in my opinion it was the hardest boss battle. Even so, it also is not too bad once you figure out the pattern. The RYNO makes this battle really easy.

  • Unload with your strongest weapons on the first platform.
  • I recommend using :l1: to jetpack up and down to avoid his attacks.
  • Eventually he goes to the center to regenerate; continue to pound on him. When he eventually comes back he will crash on to the platform that you were on. This can insta-kill you if he lands on you so hover off to the side to avoid it.
  • While he is lying on the ground the Gloves of Doom work perfectly.
  • He will then destroy the platform and you'll move to the next. Repeat the process.

The trophy will unlock during the cut-scene after you defeat him.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/5ae.jpg Basically Training (B)(H)

Complete the Ranger tryouts on Veldin.

Story related and cannot be missed.

[spoiler=2]

Follow the story guidelines where Ratchet will learn how to use the Fusion Grenade. The trophy will unlock after completing the final Galactic Ranger test.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/176.jpg The Little Robot That Could (B)(H)

Escape from Victor on Quartu.

Story related and cannot be missed.

[spoiler=3]

This short sequence introduces you to Clank. Follow the story instructions to escape the area, which includes 2 chase sequences with Victor, a large red Warbot. The trophy will unlock once Clank reaches the area with the escape shuttle.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/56b.jpg The Rescuer (B)(H)

Rescue the Mayor and Plumber on Novalis.

Story related and cannot be missed.

[spoiler=4]

Use your map to follow the linear paths to your two objectives. One objective has you rescuing the Mayor and the other objective has you meeting the Plumber (who fixes your ship). The trophy will unlock as a green "all primary objectives completed" flashes across the screen. This will occur while Ratchet is in front of his ship and is ready to head to the next planet.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/9d8.jpg Off To The Races (B)(H)

Rescue Skidd and his agent on Aridia.

Story related and cannot be missed.

[spoiler=5]

The two-fold mission on Aridia is very straight forward. Defeat the Sand Sharks and Constructo Bots to reach both Skidd and his Agent. You will be rewarded with a cut-scene introducing you to the Blackwater race on planet Rilgar. The trophy will unlock at the end of this cutscene.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/246.jpg You're In The Rangers Now (B)(H)

Become a Ranger on Kerwan.

Story related and cannot be missed.

[spoiler=6]

This trophy is your reward after completing the opening mission on planet Kerwan. During this mission Ratchet will stop a bomb from reaching the Hall of Heroes. During the cut scene Ratchet will get his Rangers suit and be taken to the basic training course. The trophy will unlock during the cutscene that shows the fitness course.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/b2e.jpg Winner Winner Sandshark Dinner (B)(H)

Win the hoverboard Bronze Cup on Rilgar.

One of the optional objectives on Rilbar is to enter the hoverboard races. First, you need to clear the Amoeboid presence by reaching the races. Afterwards you will meet Starlene, a green-skinned female in a purple outfit. This is the person to talk to to enter the hoverboard races. For this trophy you need to come in first place in the Bronze Cup. This is the easiest race and does not require much skill. You can try as many times as you need. The trophy will unlock at the Results screen at the conclusion of the race (providing Ratchet is in 1st place).

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/737.jpg Who's A Good Snagglebeast? (B)(H)

Defeat the Snagglebeast on Nebula G34.

Story related and cannot be missed.

[spoiler=7]

This boss fight should not give you any problems, but here are suggestions if you need them:

  • Use the Groovitron to keep the boss in one place doing no damage to you. It also keeps support enemies disabled.
  • I found the Pyrocitor, Proton Drum, and Mr. Zurkon very useful but really any of the weapons are good to use.
  • Keep moving and keep grabbing ammunition pods.

The trophy will unlock the moment that you defeat the boss.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/ae7.jpg Braaaaaaaaaaaains (B)(H)

Collect 30 brains for the Blarg Scientist on Gaspar.

Story related and cannot be missed.

[spoiler=8]

The story will first require you to trade 10 brains for a jetpack. After that has been completed, you are then required to trade 20 brains for an infobot to continue to the next planet. There are way more than 30 available so this trophy is not difficult. The trophy will unlock once you have handed in the 20 brains for the infobot. This trophy ties into Abby Normal.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/5aa.jpg I Shot Down Your Battleship (B)(H)

Shoot down the Blarg Battleships on Batalia.

Story related and cannot be missed.

[spoiler=9]

The game is very generous with exactly what you should do so follow Cora and her instructions all the way to the cannon at the end. There are 4 battleships that you must destroy using the Ion Cannon. Use the machine gun to destroy smaller ships and incoming missiles while you wait for the Ion Cannon to charge. This trophy will unlock shortly after the cut scene begins.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/f0a.jpg Zurkon Family Values (B)(H)

Defeat Mrs. Zurkon on Quartu.

Story related and cannot be missed.

[spoiler=10]

The strategy for this battle is simple: start with your hardest hitting weapons and don't stop moving. Partway through she will generate a shield; keep pounding on that to destroy it then continue with her. The trophy will unlock shortly after her demise.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/681.jpg Splashdown! (B)(H)

Shoot down the hydroharvesters on Pokitaru.

Story related and cannot be missed.

[spoiler=11]

Follow the very guided game instructions to reach Al, the technician. Once you reach him, he will upgrade Ratchet's plane with Tesla Rockets. At this point you will switch to plane mode with an objective of 3 Hydro Harvesters to destroy. The trophy will unlock during the cut scene that follows after destroying the third and final one using Tesla Rockets.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/fd6.jpg Ferocious Oxide (B)(H)

Defeat Victor in the Phoenix.

Story related and cannot be missed.

[spoiler=12]

This is not your typical boss fight as there is no direct contact. Clank is running from Victor and twice he will run into a vent to handle some Gadgebots. The first puzzle is pretty straightforward but the second is not so obvious:

  1. Use the first Gadgebot to jump up to the exit, then drop down on the other side.
  2. Use one Gadgebot to power the pole, which will turn the green square.
  3. Use the other Gadgebot as a bridge to that green square.
  4. Run across and use the Gadgebot on the green square as a bridge back to the first Gadgebot's location.
  5. Run across, grab the first Gadgebot, bring it back across both bridges, and then use it to jump up to the exit.
  6. Take both bridges and the Powerbot (one at a time), and jump up to the exit to power the 3 power poles.

The trophy will unlock during the cut scene that shows Victor's defeat.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/6e7.jpg Radical (B)(H)

Win the hoverboard Bronze Cup on Kalebo.

Story related and cannot be missed.

[spoiler=20]

One of the objectives on Kalebo III is to enter the hoverboard races. First, you need to proceed far enough in the story that you can reach the CEO of Gadgetron. This is the person to talk to to enter the hoverboard races. For this trophy you need to come in first place in the Bronze Cup. This is the easiest race and does not require much skill. You can try as many times as you need. The trophy will unlock at the Results screen at the conclusion of the race (providing Ratchet is in 1st place).

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/d0c.jpg A Change Of Heart (B)(H)

Defeat Captain Qwark on the Deplanetiser.

Story related and cannot be missed.

[spoiler=13]

Qwark isn't too bad because he is highly predictable. Here are my suggestions:

  • Heavily use strafe via :l2:
  • Every once in awhile he will throw out a Groovitron. After a few seconds the disco ball lowers to the ground and you must "dance" into it to destroy it. You can still jump around but obviously you cannot do any normal attacks.
  • Any weapons work well.

You don't fully defeat Qwark. Once he gets below 10% a cut-scene will begin and the trophy will unlock.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/48f.jpg Clank Crusher (B)(H)

Crush 5 gadgebots in the crusher on Quartu.

Gadgebots are the small bots that Clank has available when he is playing solo. These are the bots that can charge panels, become a spring board, or turn into bridges.

Follow the story line to bring you to Clank's section. Proceed through his section until you arrive at a bunch of crushers. You will know you are there when the crusher is initially all the way down in front of you, blocking your path, and you have to use a Powerbot to make it go up.

Head into the next area and crag another Powerbot and charge the pole next to the rectangular conveyor belt. It will raise the crusher right next to it. Go grab the next free Gadgebot and throw it underneath the crusher. Remove the Powerbot from the power supply and it will crush the Gadgebot that you just threw down there. Repeat this 4 more times. The trophy will unlock after the 5th crushed Gadgebot.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/041.jpg That Sinking Feeling (B)(H)

Knock a constructobot into the quicksand on Aridia.

The Constructobot is a yellow robot with a large red fuel tank on its back. This one can be confusing in finding one of these enemies that is right next to some quicksand. Ratchet's wrench only knocks them back so far, and you cannot hit them very much before you defeat them. However, one such enemy is located on a cat walk.

From the starting location, follow the path to reach the Agent that you needed to rescue during story mode (yes you can do this during story mode as well). Eventually you will come to an elevator. After walking out of that elevator, look to your right. You will see the Constructobot walking back and forth on a catwalk (there are 3 separate encounters so you have 3 chances). Line up yourself so that swinging with Ratchet's wrench will knock the enemy backwards off the catwalk. If done successfully the bot will fly backwards into the quicksand and explode whereby the trophy will immediately unlock.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/30b.jpg I Hate Lamp (B)(H)

Break every lamp in Aleero City.

There are 17 lamp posts in Aleero City on planet Kerwan that you must break to unlock this trophy. This is a very simple trophy but you could easily overlook one of the lamp post locations. The trophy will immediately unlock after breaking the 17th lamp post.

  • 1-3: Go East from the start and proceed through the tunnel. At the exit of the tunnel turn left to find these 3 to the North.
  • 4: Go South and find one on your left before entering an archway.
  • 5-6: Go South through this archway, then turn left to head East again. You will cross a short, flat bridge. There is one to your left and another behind the tree to your right.
  • 7: Go North to find an open area on this same platform. Tucked in the Southeast corner, behind another tree, is a lamp.
  • 8-9: Follow the linear path that is presented by the story line. You will eventually reach the train area. As you enter the train area you will see some obvious lamps in front of you. Before smashing them, turn to your right and use the boxes to climb up, over, and in this direction. You will need to use your recently acquired :r1: Clank propeller. After you land on the other side you will see 2 lamps. These are 2 that can easily be missed. Note that there is also a gold bolt in this hidden area.
  • 10-17: Jump back to where you were and you will see the remaining 8 lamp posts ringing this balcony area.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/437.jpg Not My Job (B)(H)

Allow the extermibots to kill 35 amoeboids in Rilgar.

(Missable)

This trophy is missable because this situation only occurs during the story mission. These enemies are located on the path towards the Hoverboard race. You will probably get the trophy without even trying, but to be sure just stand back and let the Extermibots do their job. There is even a game message stating that Extermibots have been released to clean up the Amoeboids. The trophy will unlock shortly after.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/d45.jpg Top Gunner (B)(H)

Defeat 40 enemies while jetpacking in Gaspar.

Gaspar is where Ratchet will eventually be awarded the Jetpack during the story missions. Once you have it, it must be filled at the green fueling stations. After that, press :l1: to hover around in the air.

This trophy requires you to defeat 40 enemies while you are actively hovering in the air with the Jetpack via :l1:. There is no visual counter for this, but the good news is that an incredibly large amount of enemies are in this large open area. The trophy will immediately unlock once you have defeated 40 enemies in this manner.

To make this trophy easier, enable the Auto-Aim ability on your weapons and start with your Warmonger for powerful attacks.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/f9e.jpg When Sheep Fly (B)(H)

Sheepinate a Blarg Helicopter Commander.

(Missable)

This trophy is missable because the Blarg Helicopter Commanders only spawn during the story-line. You are not able to backtrack later to try again. You cannot attempt this trophy until you purchase the Sheepinator weapon. Upgrading the Sheepinator weapon will make this considerably easier.

  1. As part of the story-line you will eventually arrive at Kalebo III (which is late in the game).
  2. Buy the Sheepinator weapon from the bluish Gadgetron Vendor for 40,000 bolts.
  3. Proceed through this level until you come across one of the helicopters.
  4. Shoot the helicopter until it transforms whereby the trophy will immediately unlock.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/01d.jpg Warbots Into Ploughshares (B)(H)

Destroy 10 inactive Warbots inside the Quartu factory.

During the story line there will be a long section with Clank to disable a laser field. When control returns to Ratchet, you will walk down a long corridor into an assembly plant and there is a Gadgetron vender in front of you. After coming out of the corridor and looking at that vendor box, look to your right to see the inactive Warbots on a conveyor belt in the distance. Shoot 10 to unlock this trophy; they infinitely keep coming. Story mode will require you to actually run on these conveyor belts. The video below shows an easy way that is backtracking after story mode.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/109.jpg Pool Sharks Are The Worst (B)(H)

Get eaten by a Pool Shark in the Pokitaru Ocean.

This is a very simple trophy. From Ratchet's ship on planet Pokitaru, simply turn around and jump into the ocean towards the out of bounds area. Eventually a Pool Shark will jump up and eat Ratchet, instantly defeating him. The trophy will unlock immediately when this happens.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/c4c.jpg Character Assassination (B)(H)

Destroy all of the planet models in Drek's office.

This will occur during Ratchet's mission on the Deplanetizer. He will eventually reach Drek's office, which has a Trespasser port in it. There are 5 green planetary globes in very obvious sight. Destroy them all to unlock this trophy.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/0b8.jpg Et tu, Copernicus? (B)(H)

Find Qwark's Lounge on the Deplanitiser.

Before you can attempt this trophy you must first acquire the Hologuise gadget; see Tech Head

After that is done, head back to the Deplanetizer location. Note that this can be done during story mode or while backtracking. You may have noticed during story mode that several doors have an orange padlock on them. Equip the Hologuise to turn into Captain Qwark. You must run to a specific door and simply stand in front of this orange padlock door as Captain Qwark. After a few seconds he will say something and the trophy will unlock. It's best to just watch the video below for the exact location.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/052.jpg Lazy Lombax (B)(H)

Ride every catwalk without moving in Kalebo.

This trophy is specific to 4 slow-moving conveyor belts that are located in this area. Starting from Ratchet's plane, head down the walkway (the only way to go) and look down while you go. You will see a gray conveyor belt. In fact, you will see 3 of them before you reach an intersection. The fourth one is located just past the Gadgetron CEO's office. It's hard to describe this location in text so you may just want to look at the video below.

We recommend starting at the conveyor belt that is the farthest from Ratchet's plane so that you travel towards it. This is because the conveyor belts move in that direction. When we tried it in the reverse order it did not unlock for me, but someone else reported that it worked for them. If it doesn't work the first time for you, try it in the other direction.

Jump on at the end and do not move at all. Let the conveyor belt carry Ratchet to the other end. Only once he has stopped moving, head to the next conveyor belt (yes it is OK to run at this point just don't touch a conveyor belt accidentally). Repeat the process for the other 3 conveyor belts. If done successfully, the trophy will unlock after reaching the very end of the fourth belt.

Great looking guide! Beat me to it, was working on one. Great game, hopefully this guide will give people worried about all the missable stuff some clarity:)

also, trade up may be missable if you acquire all cards before trading duplicates.(you have plenty of time to get this trophy though)

I'm not sure why the trophy name says "Eleven" as it doesn't seem to pertain to the modification status of a weapon.

It's a reference to a scene from the movie This is Spinal Tap.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2842/094.jpg Abby Normal (S)

Collect every Telepathopus brain.

They are all in plain sight and the map shows where you have searched. Use the Jetpack to visit each area and gather brains as you go. Handing in the 60 brains to the NPC will unlock this trophy and grant you access to the Box Breaker gadget as a reward.

Sorry to nitpick but this isn't true because there are 3-4 brains in a cave like area that isn't just out in the open. Great guide though

I looked that up; now I get it. That is pretty funny. Thanks for shedding light on that one for me.

Very nice, lots of work! :applause:

On Cha-ching!, I do not think the invicibility cheat works. I am working towards the trophy now with the cheat on and get reset every time I'm hit despite my health not being lowered.

Thank you for letting me know. This was one I still had on my list to test.

You are absolutely correct; my brain completely forgot that section (and I even wrote that only 20 minutes after I finished). I will make some text changes.

Would assume that if you back up your save manually on USB or the cloud, you could prevent accidentally messing up on one of the missable trophies like Safecracker. Is that correct? That's what I plan to do incase I get button happy.

I'm so paranoid about hitting :square:.

I believe there is an additional prompt, sort of like a confirmation, in case you mistakenly hit autohack.

Yes, restoring a save from USB puts you right back where you were (same game state).

Yes, it is the Sheepinator. Unfortunately the only thing you can do at this point is (1) see if there are any card packs that you missed on any planets using the Map-o-Matic and (2) grinding enemy defeats. Personally I saw a higher drop rate in the final Deplanetizer area but it could be coincidence.
