Introduction:

Welcome to Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale! A highly-anticipated PS3-exclusive fighting game first announced in April 2012, this game takes protagonists and antagonists from some of Sony’s biggest franchises and creates a Smash Brothers Brawl-esque fighting system. Expect to see the likes of Sackboy (LittleBigPlanet), Nathan Drake (Uncharted), Dante (DmC: Devil May Cry) and Kratos (God of War).

The trophies in Battle Royale are very basic. In simple terms, the list asks you to complete the Tutorial once, play Arcade Mode multiple times and spend a short amount of time online. Although the repetition of Arcade Mode runs can be a bit tedious, there is no difficulty included here and all in all it’s a very easy, beginner-friendly (P), unlike other games of the fighting genre. Note that to earn the online trophies, you will require an online pass for the game. This should come with a new copy, however those with a used copy must purchase one from their region's PlayStation Store.

Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale has been received well amongst those who were anticipating it and although it may prove to be uncannily similar to Super Smash Brothers Brawl, it is still a fun Playstation exclusive alternative and proves to have quite a bit of replay value, whilst having an easy (P) as a nice bonus. Hopefully this guide shall help you in earning all the trophies you can! You can find some additional tips here: LINK

Walkthrough:

Note that these trophies can be earned in any order you wish, as with many fighting games. However, to earn them quickly and efficiently, it is recommended that you follow the roadmap.

Step 1: Tutorials and Combat Trials

Because of Battle Royale's unique fighting system, it is more than likely new to most players. Because of this, it’s recommended you complete the Tutorial. Doing so will help you get to grips with the fighting system if you’re new to it, and also rewards you with a few trophies. Also, once that is done and dusted, complete a single Combat Trial to earn another trophy. The following trophies will unlock:

(B) Fundamentals

(B) Character Mastery

(B) Trial Combatant

Step 2: Quick Trophies

As mentioned in the Introduction, Battle Royale has a host of easy, beginner-friendly trophies. Because of this, it’d be beneficial to nab them now. Thankfully, a second controller is not required for the trophies, as you can manipulate the A.I easily via options and settings, making this (P) even easier. Regardless, the basic breakdown of what you’ll be doing in this step is entering 3x AP Overtime, landing a 70+ AP attack, completing different iterations of Super Attacks, and using a certain character’s respective Super Attack in their respective stage. This step won’t take long and will earn you numerous, easy trophies:

(B) We have Overtime! - Working Weekends?

(S) 3x OVERTIME!!

(S) Champion

(B) Combo King

(S) Combo Virtuoso

(B) Ultimate Power

(S) Two For One

(G) Three For One

(B) I Chose The Impossible

(B) Master of the Ray Sphere

(B) Interpol HQ Break-In

(B) Kerwan’s Capital City

(B) Ally of Larry Da Vinci

(B) Calypso’s Wishes

(B) The Doctor Is In…

(B) Student Becomes the Master

(B) REX versus RAY

(B) The Peak Point Helmet Blues

(B) Samos’ Sacred Site

(B) Sic Parvis Magna

(B) Autarch of Helghan

(B) Palace of the Underworld

Step 3: Arcade Mode

It’s now time to grind the offline trophies of Arcade Mode in Battle Royale. This will take a few hours at least as you must complete it with twenty different characters. If you missed the Level 3 Super trophies in Step II, try to pick them up here, if you can, with the respective character. Also, since you cannot equip a Minion until reaching Level 8 (which should be earned after one Arcade Mode run), you can now earn Showing Off. In addition, make sure to complete one of these Arcade Mode runs on ‘Legend’ difficulty, to help you earn The Legend. Once this grind is over, after earning the following trophies you’ve almost earned your (P):

(B) The God of War

(B) I Gotta Believe!

(B) Cake, please!

(B) Oh Boys and Girls

(B) Helghast Commander

(B) Thievius Raccoonus

(B) Treasure Hunter

(B) Greatest Conduit

(B) Friend of the People

(B) Monkey Catcher

(B) Intergalactic Heroes

(B) Eco Master

(B) Let’s Make a Scene

(B) Revengeance

(B) The Iron Fist

(B) Mr. Bubbles

(B) Demon Hunter

(B) Demon of Empire City

(B) Heavenly Warrior

(B) Hero of Gallowmere

(B) Showing Off

(B) The Legend

Step 4: Online Mode - Unobtainable due to server closure.

The online trophies in Battle Royale are simple in comparison to other games in the fighting genre and over half of them simply ask of you to dip your toes into Online Mode’s offerings. Unfortunately, the trophies cannot be easily boosted as they ask for you to win via a match-made battle, therefore boosting would be virtually impossible. However, following the tricks listed within the guide should help you claim your final trophies soon enough and, hopefully, your (P):

(B) First Blood

(S) Triple Kill!

(S) Team Sweeper

(B) Friendly Competition

(B) Tournament Fighter

(S) Victorious!

(S) This is Living

(P) All Star Legend - You've Only Done Everything

If you came here thinking that you’ll find another standard fighting game, think again. Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale has a unique fighting system in that you are free to roam around an interactive terrain. The stage can alter around you as you can fight one, two, or even three opponents simultaneously in a free-for-all battle.

The player can move around the terrain with the :ls:. Each character has basic moves as well as three unique Super Moves. Basic moves are initiated by using either the :square:, :triangle: or :circle: button. One can chain combos with the three buttons both on foot and in midair (jumping is used with the :cross: button).

Then comes the AP bar, near your name and player number. When it fills once, a Super Move Level 1 can be used. When it fills a second time, a Super Move Level 2 can be used, and once more for a Level 3. Each Super is capable of killing an opponent for a point in your favour, however a Level 3 is capable of letting you defeat all enemies on the field (sometimes, with the likes of Nariko or Sackboy’s Level 3 Super, you can repeatedly kill opponents almost four to five times) giving you the ultimate advantage.

Ever think you’d see Metal Gear RAY in an intense battle with a stampede of Loco Roco? Or Chop Chop Master Onion battling a MAWLR? The background of Playstation All-Stars is always thriving with lively crossovers as you fight your opponents however sometimes the background can interfere with your own battle. Of course it can hit your opponents as well but if you do end up getting hit, you can lose valuable AP. Therefore you need to be aware of what’s going on in the background, as well as your opponents in the heat of battle.

As a final note, in Arcade mode, there are two main variations of matches:

  • A) There’s a time limit (generally, three minutes) where one must defeat the opponents as many times as possible, and the one with the most kills wins once the timer runs out
  • B) There’s a set amount of kills required and whoever reaches it first wins the match; there is no time limit

There are eight rounds in Arcade mode; the last two being a rival battle and final boss battle respectively. More details under The Legend.

You have successfully earned all other trophies in the game. Congratulations!

You have mastered the ultimate Playstation crossover and claimed the (P)! Congratulations!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1308/BB9.jpg Trial Combatant http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Complete a Combat Trial

You can access the Combat Trials via Solo Play > Combat Trials. Playstation All-Star Battle Royale contains trials which are basically challenges for every character. It slowly takes you from simple two-hit combos to long, convoluted combos which frequently switch between ground and airborne combat, which require some seriously good timing. Thankfully, this is the only trial-related trophy in the game and requires you to only complete one. Doing so will unlock you this mode’s sole trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1308/52A.jpg The Legend http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Complete Arcade Mode on Legend

Legend mode is what can be considered Battle Royale’s Normal difficulty. Surprisingly, this is the only difficulty-related trophy, so after you can earn this you can deal with all the Arcade Mode playthroughs on Hero Mode (what you can consider Easy Mode). There is nothing particularly difficult with Legend Mode as the A.I is still wholly exploitable. The Arcade goes as follows:

  1. 3 minutes: 1 opponent
  2. 3 minutes: Free-for-all, 2 opponents
  3. 3 minutes: Free-for-all, 3 opponents
  4. 3 minutes: Free-for-all, 3 opponents. Opponents’ A.I increases.
  5. Free-for-all, 3 opponents, first to 3 kills wins.
  6. Free-for-all, 3 opponents, first to 3 kills wins. Opponents’ A.I increases.
  7. Rival Battle
  8. Final Boss Battle

As mentioned before, there’s no difficulty whatsoever in the first six battles, but you may find the rival battle tricky as it’s a pure one-on-one battle with enhanced A.I.

For the final boss, you need to defeat the fake enemies first, then stick to one of the walls of the arena. The boss will crash into the ground near you. Attack him as much as you can until he returns to the background, then defeat two fake enemies; the boss will crash again, and so on. After the third round, the boss will die and you will earn the trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1308/F21.jpg Fundamentals http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Complete the Basic Tutorial

As soon as you turn on the game, it will ask if you’d like to play the Tutorial. As said in the roadmap, it’s highly recommended you do, so accept. Simply completing it unlocks the trophy. The Tutorial covers the following basics:

  1. Movement
  2. Jumping
  3. Basic Attacks
  4. Directional Attacks
  5. Earning AP
  6. Super Attacks
  7. Super Levels
  8. Blocking
  9. Throws
  10. Evading
  11. Air Dodging
  12. Items
  13. AP Orbs

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1308/5D0.jpg Character Mastery http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Complete a Combo Tutorial

Under the same menu as Tutorial, choose Combo. You can learn some of the basic and advanced combinations for every character in the game. The trophy expects you to complete every trial of a character to unlock, however there is an exploit - if you simply pick the final challenge for a character (all challenges are available from the beginning) from the menu, the system assumes you’ve completed them all, and thus rewards you the trophy upon completing it. The final trials can be tricky, however if you want an easy one, simply pick Nathan Drake. His combo for Challenge #10 is started off by press :cross: to jump, :circle: whilst in the air and then :triangle: when you hit the ground.

Update Notice!: Due to the game's most recent patch, the tutorial for Drake has been made more difficult. Instead of the combo seen in the screenshot below, it has now become a more complex combo:  :square: (air) --> :right: :square: --> :square: --> :square: --> :right: :triangle:. There are a few ways you could tackle this; if you have the physical copy of the game, simply delete the patch via the XMB. If you have the digital copy of the game, delete and re-download the game again. This will make the original Nathan Drake method still valid.

If however you would rather keep the patch and still earn this trophy, you will simply need to practice. You can still skip all other combos and jump immediately to the tenth combo, this was not changed in the patch.

Show off your Minion during a game

Reach Level 8 with any character, and then their character-exclusive Minions unlock. Equip the Minion by entering Customise, then Profile, and finally Minion. Equip it and next time you play in any match and happen to pull off an impressive move (for example, a Double or Triple Kill), the Minion will cheer you on in the corner (like in the screenshot below) and the trophy will unlock.

Earn a Triple Kill in a match-made online game

Unobtainable due to server closure

:psn:: PSN access required.

There are many combos which instantly kill a character, however few actually defeat all three opponent at once. It can be difficult getting even a Double Kill online as you can face some seriously strong competitors, however with luck and skill this can be earned.

  • Raiden has an excellent Level 1 Super Move in that all nearby opponents are immediately killed upon the Move’s initiation. This may be risky because you have to get close to your opponents, however it’s easy to build up the meter to Level 1 and you’re guaranteed the trophy if you do it right.
  • Alternatively, Toro has a sure-fire Level 3 Super Move that instantly kills everyone in the arena, regardless of where they are in it. However getting the required AP for Level 3 may be difficult, especially if you are against a fearsome player online.

Enter 3x AP Overtime!

Firstly, switch the settings to the following to make this easier:

  • Time: 1 Minute
  • Turn off Hazards

Overtime is a feature that is put to use if no-one in a match earns any kills. The amount of AP earned from combos is increased to a maximum of three times, and an extra minute is gained in hopes of someone to finally be deemed victor. To enter Overtime, go into a match in Offline Versus (or Arcade Mode, if you wish) and avoid the opponents at all cost (set the opponents to the same team so that they don‘t kill each other instead). When the timer runs out, Overtime will initiate, and We have Overtime! - Working Weekends? will unlock. Do it a second time and then finally a third for 3x OVERTIME!! (like in the screenshot below). This can be combined with Champion if you wish, read that trophy for further information.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1308/2C1.jpg Champion http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png

Win a Versus Match against a team of three AI opponents

Enter Versus Match in the main menu, and set all of the opponents to the same team (press :l2: to open the menu and switch Game Type to ‘Team-Battle’). Press :square: when selecting the opponents to place them on the same colour team (different to yours of course), and as also recommended, press :triangle: over the opponents to switch them to the lowest CPU difficulty (which is one orb). Simply earn one kill and you can avoid the opponents afterwards and that single kill will earn you the win.

Alternatively, if you wish to fuse this with the two Overtime trophies (We have Overtime! - Working weekends? And 3x OVERTIME!!) simply initiate Overtime by using the rules listed in the aforementioned trophies and when the third Overtime begins, defeat your enemies (which should be easy with triple AP).

Land a 70+ AP Combo in Practice Mode

For this trophy you must complete a combo which earns you 70+ AP in one go. Simply mashing the :square: button can earn you this with certain characters, however here are two definite ways of earning both Combo King and Combo Virtuoso in one go:

  • Select Kratos, set three opponents to 'Follow' (:start: and then change Behaviour) and use the following combo on two or more of the opponents: Start with  then press both  and :square: repeatedly afterwards.
  • Select Ratchet, only one opponent required. This may seem like a long combo at first but it’s much easier than it looks in inputs and with a ten-second time-out for practice you can do it with ease. Use the following combination while standing on the left: :right: :square: > :square: > :triangle:.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1308/63F.jpg Ultimate Power http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Perform a Level 3 Super Attack

This will undoubtedly unlock on your way to the (P) and is impossible to miss, however if you have an urge to earn this as soon as you start the game, go into Practice Mode, press :start: and alter the ‘Force Super Level’ option to ‘Level 3’. Initiate the Super Move by pressing :r2:.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1308/B58.jpg Two for One http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png

Earn a Double Kill with a Level 1 Super Attack

Please read Three for One for further information. For visual aid, watch the video below, courtesy of guillermo:

Earn a Triple Kill with a Level 1 Super Attack

As mentioned under Triple Kill!, Raiden’s Level 1 Super Move instantly kills all nearby opponents. Because of this, enter Practice Mode and with all three opponents nearby (set the A.I to follow via :start: and Behaviour to ‘Follow’ if you wish) press :r2: to instantly kill all three. This will earn you Two for One as well as Three for One.

Complete a Versus Match against an online player

Unobtainable due to server closure

:psn:: PSN access required.

You will need to invite a friend to play with you in an Online match; it does not matter who wins, you simply need to play it. There’s a big chance someone on your friends list will have this game and will agree to help you out, trophy hunter or not, however if not you can add someone from boosting in the Trophy Boosting Thread.

Complete an online Ranked Match

Unobtainable due to server closure

:psn:: PSN access required.

You simply need to play a match against someone in Ranked, win or lose, it’s irrelevant.

Earn a Kill in a match-made online game

Unobtainable due to server closure

:psn:: PSN access required.

You’re bound to get this at some point of your online trophy hunt, and should not need to be boosted. Regardless, you’ll earn this when you try for This is Living.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1308/C5A.jpg Victorious! http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png

Win a match-made online game

Unobtainable due to server closure

:psn:: PSN access required.

It is recommended you earn this in a 2v2 player match, as the odds are even. However, this is quite possible in other modes. I recommend following the character recommendations under Triple Kill!, so please read that trophy for all the details.

This is quite the feat as there are 20 characters in total and each Arcade Mode can last 20-30 minutes in total; due to matches being timed and limited you cannot hasten the process. Therefore, you have no choice but to go through all the Arcades, slowly but surely. If you wish, you can break up the Arcade Mode runs amongst your trophy hunt. For example, do five Arcade Mode runs at the start, then earn all the miscellaneous trophies, another five Arcade Mode runs and then the Online grind, etc. just to mix things up a bit.

Win a match-made online game without dying

Unobtainable due to server closure

:psn:: PSN access required.

This is probably the trickiest trophy of the whole list if anything. It is almost wholly skill and luck-based, however it shouldn’t take too much time if you know what to do.

What you could do is use Raiden’s Level 1 Super Move once so that you fulfil the requirements for winning, and then keep running away from the opponent thereafter until the timer runs out. If the opponent somehow manages to kill you, you can play the rest of the match and attempt the other Online trophies, or simply quit out there and then. Although the latter might result in some rage mail post-match, it earns you the trophy ultimately and one step closer to the (P). Or if you’d rather earn it the more legitimate way, entering a 2v2 player match and relying on pure skill is the only other alternative.

  • Jak in Sandover Village (for Samos’ Sacred Site)
  • Nathan Drake in Stowaways (for Sic Parvis Magna)
  • Radec in Invasion (for Autarch of Helghan)

Simply enter Practice Mode and enter the listed stage. Press :start: and switch ‘Force Super Level’ to ‘Level 3’. Finally, press :r2: to initiate the Super Move.

Great job on the guide! Kudos for going into detail with the combat system too. :applause:

Thank you, Kai

Great job on your guide my Kouhai ~ Keep up the good work, I might be renting the game soon of if you want any screenshots let me know

Thank you Setsuna; screenshots would be greatly appreciated, thank you :)

Does the Triple Kill online trophy have to be done in a ranked game or can it be done in a player match?

The description for the trophy says 'Match-made game', so it cannot be boosted, therefore a Ranked match. :)

With "Character Mastery"i did the exploit and it di not pop up :(

Is that so? That's odd; I'll confirm this later on a second account, strange that it worked fine with me though.

I know what's wrong now ,What you said in "Character Mastery" was "Under the same menu as Tutorial, choose Character"but you need to go to "Combo Tutorial.everything you said is right but you just got mixed up.correct me if i'm wrong :)

Another exceptionally good guide again Fubura  Would have only dragged this down!

I specifically like the beginner's tips as I haven't played many fighting games, so when I get this it'll help me get used to the mechanics.

One thing I did notice was for This Is Living, you said the following:

"What you could do, is use Raiden’s Level 1 Super Move once so that you fulfil the requirements for winning, and then keep running away from the opponent thereafter until the timer runs out. If the opponent somehow manages to kill you, attempt the Level 1 Super Move again and continue avoiding them. Although it might result in some rage mail post-match, it earns you the trophy ultimately and one step closer to the . Or if you’d rather earn it the more legit way, entering a 2v2 player match and relying on pure skill is the only other alternative."

Surely if your opponent kills you, this would negate the trophy by virtue of it requiring you to not die? Or did you mean in a rematch? If so, this should be made clearer :) I did love the rage mail line though, made me laugh :p

Also, just out of curiosity, for Combo Virtuoso why did you use white arrows for "up" instead of the button smilies built into the site? Just an observation and not a nit pick :)

Tried the exploit for Character Mastery, and tried going all the way through legitimately and neither gave the trophy.

I think kdee77 is correct, I got it mixed up  What a fail, I'll fix that immediately :)

wow i never thought this game would be that easy trophy wise. i was expecting truckload of online trophies.

You'd be surprised, it's a very easy list ^_^

I tried to keep the beginner's tips as basic as possible so as not to confuse new players, I hope it helps ^^

Of course, This Is Living requires no deaths  Was writing that description with solely winning in mind. Fixed :)

I use them in my other fighting game guides as well, I prefer using them, in my opinion they're cleaner and neater. ;)

:cluster: Way to kick this guide into gear, lol. Keep up the great work!

Thanks Weapon

Proofread the guide so everything should be correct, grammar and input-wise. Added a bit more information to the Battle System section of the roadmap.

EDIT: Also, note to readers, Setsuna will be creating screenshots for the trophies very soon, a massive thanks to him for this kind offer :)
