Introduction: PixelJunk SideScroller is a great mix between PixelJunk Shooter gameplay, Gravity Crash graphics and soundtrack, and arcade style shoot 'em up. SideScroller is a challenging, yet forgiving and fun game to 100%. Luckily, if you happen to lose all your lives in a sector (level), you can try again from the previous checkpoint with the small setback of losing all weapon upgrades. Minimal frustration here. Controls: charge attack fire switch weapon forward switch weapon backwards move Roadmap: Step 1: Normal playthrough Here you will be focusing on attaining the following trophies will completing the all sectors on Normal difficulty: Triple Crowner You Make Me Wish I Had Three Hands Spin-a-delic Combolicious Q-Beams Glitter in the Dark Ender's Game Step 2: Hard playthrough Completing all sectors on hard difficulty should be your only task. Step 3: Brutal Sector playthrough Complete only sector 1-1 (easiest sector available) on brutal difficulty. Easier said than done. Fully upgraded laser will be your friend. Once you reach the last area, focus on hiding in the corners and popping up when you can to fire your laser. Move around occasionally as enemies will eventually get you. Step 4: Mop-up This step will only take you a few minutes, depending on what you have remaining and will focus on the remaining trophies. This trophy is story related and cannot be missed.
After completing all three stages, a "final stage" will be unlocked which consists of one Sector, the final boss fight. A full video is below. After completing every single sector on Normal difficulty, Hard difficulty will be unlocked. Complete any level on hard difficulty to earn this trophy. Hard difficulty adds...
...faster shots fired by enemies, more shots fired by enemies and even funkier graphics. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1084/06.jpgGreat, kid. Don't get cocky. Complete any Sector on the Brutal difficulty setting. After completing every sector (level) on Hard difficulty, Brutal difficulty will be unlocked. Simply complete the first stage for this trophy. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1084/07.jpgTriple Crowner Get all three hidden Crowns in any Sector. Hidden Crowns are invisible collectables earning you 10,000 points. They will appear once shot at several times so spamming the multiple-upgraded mini gun will work great to help find these crowns. There are three per normal stage. Simply collect all three in one stage, has to be in the same playthrough. Here are the locations for sector 1-1:
The first hidden crown is located just before checkpoint 2. The second hidden Crown is located after checkpoint 2, in my exact position. The final hidden Crown is located shortly after checkpoint 3. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1084/08.jpgYou Make Me Wish I Had Three Hands Use each weapon one time. Press or to switch and then fire once with with each weapon. Each weapon is always available. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1084/09.jpgSpin-a-delic Defeat 50 enemies using the Charge Attack. Hold to initiate a charge attack. Simply defeat 50 enemies with this attack over the course of the game. Charge Attack does not make you immune to enemy fire. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1084/10.jpgYou Are the Pris to My Roy Complete any Sector by playing with a friend in co-op mode. While in the Sector Select Menu, press on your second controller to enable a co-op partner. Complete any Sector (level) to unlock this trophy. I recommend Sector 1-4 on normal as it's the shortest level available and quite simple to ace since the second controller will drain all your lives. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1084/11.jpgCombolicious String together a Combo of 100 points or more. Combos are attained by killing multiple enemies within a given time. Getting shot does not end the combo, dying does. Load Sector 1-1 on casual difficulty and focus on killing most enemies. You should be around 105-110 once you arrive to the second checkpoint, which is when the combo will certainly end. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1084/12.jpgPedal to the Medal Receive the highest ranking Medal on any Sector. After completing a Sector, one star, two start, three star, or a special medal will be earned. If you do not get this trophy on the final sector, load up 1-4 on casual (you will have to replay the full stage on Casual to unlock it, but it's very easy to achieve max rank on Casual on this sector). Place yourself in the top middle-right and have your laser ready.
Immediately fire at the boss's two hit points at the top, do not worry about upgrading your weapon or picking up a shield. Neither are needed and will only distract you. Afterwards take out the bottom two hit points and finish it off all using the laser. You are trying to achieve a score of over ~440,000, complete the level very quickly for the max rank. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1084/13.jpgQ-Beams Glitter in the Dark Defeat 10 enemies or more using one Laser shot. At the beginning of Sector 1-1, four enemies will fly at you, followed by four more, followed by two sets of five. Wait for the two sets at five to combine and take them out with one laser shot. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1084/14.jpgEnder's Game Complete any Sector without getting hit by a single shot. Start 1-4 and just work on using only the laser to quickly complete the sector. Dodge enemy shots when necessary. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1084/15.jpgSpin Long and Prosper Complete any Sector without firing a single shot. (Hint: Use the Charge Attack!) Hold to charge the charge attack and move in the direction you want to attack. Start Sector 1-1 on casual and only attack what's necessary. Work your way to the end and make sure to take out the last enemy after the final checkpoint for a shield. You will need it to finish the level. Dying and getting shot is fine, just don't shoot back. Darkbeat
Regarding Pedal to the Metal, I just scored 442,000 points on 1-4 on normal and did not get the special medal. So you need a little bit more than that... I'll give it a few more tries to see if I can figure out exactly how much you need. Update: 458,200 points and still no medal :-(. I find it easier to get a higher score if I slow down a bit to let the boss show the cannons on his back. If you power up the laser, you can fly in behind them and kill them all in one shot, which ups your combo to 8-9. Update 2: 489,900 points and the trophy is mine :-). I basically used the strategy I mentioned above: - Killed the two top parts and grabbed both powerups. You can hit both parts at the same time if you aim slightly below the front red part. - Killed the front bottom part and grabbed the shield. - The fish moves forward a bit - rush over to the very back and kill all the cannons on his back with your rear laser. The shield comes in handy here. Grab the power-ups they drop once all of them are dead. - Move back to the front and kill the remaning bottom part. Grab the power-up it drops. - Spam laser into his mouth as soon as it opens. Don't wait for the larvae to come out, you do damage anyway. Hope that helps anyone struggling with this trophy! For me, I started playing the game on casual so I guess that's why I need much less points for max rank. I guess I should change that .

wowaka
overtime the trophy should be harder to earn right? No, it's not global rank. It's a very high set score that you need to achieve on any sector on any difficulty.
ENAYSOFT
Easiest way to get 10 shots in a row with the laser if to use it against the worm boss kind of enemies near the end of 1-1, there are about 20 or so enemies all clustered together and you will probably get 10 or more kills by mistake if you have your laser powered up to full. Stork77
Thanks for the guide! EDIT: I don't think the second crown is after the 2nd checkpoint - more like the third. But I did that trophy on casual - maybe there's more checkpoints?
TigerLust
Thanks for the guide! The pictures for the crowns was very useful. Like Stork mentioned, the second crown is actually after the third checkpoint.

RyujiSakujo
Regarding the Triple Crowner trophy: As pointed out by various users, the description for the 2nd and 3rd hidden crown is wrong! Bear in mind that I acquired this trophy on casual, so number of checkpoints may vary between the difficulties! The 2nd hidden crown is located after checkpoint 3, the 3rd hidden crown is located shortly after checkpoint 4! Please refer to this vid for clarification: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YDUF21uUL8]PixelJunk SideScroller:Sector 1-1 100% All Crowns, Max Combo - YouTube[/ame] The timestamp of the crowns are: 1:35, 3:03, and 3:23.
