Shuffle
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hb4TEBNgZZ4]CLANNAD intro video - YouTube[/ame] North American visual novel distributor Sekai Project's Clannad crowdfunding campaign met its US$140,000 goal on Tuesday, after less than 24 hours. The US$140,000 will fund both a digital and physical game release. Sekai Project initially listed a physical release of the game as a stretch goal, with a goal of US$100,000 for the Steam edition. Sekai Project announced its plans in August to bring Clannad to Steam with full voices. Sekai Project said it plans to to release a fully-voiced edition with Mai Nakahara, Ai Nonaka, Mamiko Noto, Kikuko Inoue and others, but will not record an English dub. The game inspired an anime movie and two television anime series. The series follows delinquent high school student Tomoya Okazaki, who one day meets a strange girl named Nagisa Furukawa who is a year older, but is repeating her last year of high school due to illness. Tomoya becomes involved with Nagisa and her hopes of restarting the school drama club. The original game is celebrating its 10th anniversary and is receiving a PlayStation Vita port in Japan. The visual novel has already been ported to PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PSP, Xbox 360, and phones. Key has produced such visual novel franchises as Little Busters!, Kanon, and Air — all of which inspired anime and manga adaptations. Sekai Project is also funding the WAS The Hourglass of Lepidoptera visual novel until November 26. The visual novel includes voices by Rina Satou, Rie Murakawa, Sayaka Ohara, Hiro Unochi, Natsuki Abe, and Aoi Kana. Shuffle
Sekai Project have announced three stretch goals for the Kickstarter campaign being used to fund their English-language release of Clannad. The first stretch goal—which is at $200,000—has already been reached. Sekai Project will use the HD assets from the PlayStation 3 release of Clannad for their English-language release of the game on PC. These assets are currently at 1280×960 resolution, but Key are processing them to 1280×720 for proper widescreen support. The next stretch goal is further off at $320,000. The side-stories from the PlayStation 3, PSP and Vita releases of Clannad will be included in Sekai’s PC version. The reason this stretch goal is set at $320k is because the assets for the side-stories were created by companies other than Visual Art’s/Key, and additional fees will need to be paid to license that material. Finally, the third stretch goal is a new Clannad anthology manga. This goal requires $380,000 and will be a manga produced in collaboration with “a lot of amazing talents”. Interestingly, this manga will be released in the West before Japan. Clannad
Shuffle
On their Kickstarter page for Clannad, Sekai Project are asking contributors and fans for their thoughts on the resolution of HD assets for Clannad’s English-language release. For the English PC release of Clannad, Sekai are collaborating with Key to use high-definition assets from the PlayStation 3 version of the game. The resolution of these assets is 1280×960 px, and Sekai initially suggested they would be “processed” to 1280×720 px for proper widescreen support. Now, however, the publisher is asking fans whether they would prefer that the original 1280×960 resolution be maintained. You can provide your feedback here. Shuffle
Clannad’s English-language release on PC will use art assets at a 1280×960 px resolution, Sekai Project confirmed in a recent update. 1280×960 is the resolution of the original assets, and the 4:3 aspect ratio will be maintained for the English release. In a separate update, the publisher also announced the artists behind the Clannad anthology manga that will be created, should the $380,000 stretch goal be reached. The manga will be illustrated by Misaki Juri, the illustrator of the official Clannad manga in Comic Rush, and ZEN, the illustrator for Little Busters End of Refrain in Dengeki Comics. A release date for the English-language version of Clannad hasn’t been announced yet.
