Introduction:

Welcome to the PS Vita's Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus. This game is a special edition to the previous Ninja Gaiden Sigma (PS3). They added features that enhance the gameplay which is only available on Vita. If you're looking for a challenging game to get trophies on, then this is the one for you.

Ryu's quest for vengeance spans sixteen chapters, each beginning and ending with a cutscene. At the start of the game, the player takes control of Ryu as he infiltrates the Shadow clan fortress. Ryu is there to visit his uncle, the clan leader Murai. During their chat, Ayane delivers news of a raid on the Hayabusa village. Fighting his way back to his village, Ryu encounters Doku, who has killed the Hayabusa shrine maiden Kureha and has taken the Dark Dragon Blade. Ryu is cut down by Doku with the stolen Blade, but he is brought back to life as a soldier of revenge

Seeking vengeance for Kureha's death, Ryu learns from Murai that the raiders were from Vigoor, so he stows away on an airship bound for the empire. Fighting his way through the streets of its capital city, Tairon, Ryu faces several bosses including the three Greater Fiends. He defeats Alma in a battle that wrecks the city, but leaves her to Rachel's mercy. However, Rachel cannot bring herself to kill her sister and instead is taken by Doku, who prepares to sacrifice her in a ritual to enhance Alma's power. With Alma's help Ryu rescues Rachel and destroys Doku's spirit, but with his dying breath Doku casts the blood curse on Ryu. The only way for Ryu to lift the curse is to kill the emperor, so he storms the palace, defeating Marbus who bars his way to the emperor's personal realm. Two successive boss fights must be completed to destroy the Emperor and reclaim the Dark Dragon Blade once this is accomplished his realm starts to destruct. Ryu must then be manoeuvred up a series of ledges to escape but in the process he loses his grip on the Dark Dragon Blade.

Story Game Mode:

You begin with 3 difficulties to choose from: Hero, Normal and Hard. If you're new to the game, I suggest that you try Hero difficulty first. Playing Hero difficulty is easy mode. You should try to go for the missable trophy Heroes Never Give Up, that way you can get use to the game more. Feel free to jump in harder difficulties if you think you can handle it. Its very hard and I only advise experience players to jump on Hard to begin with. During your Hard playthrough, play all the way to chapter 2. Beat Doku and you'll unlock Very Hard difficulty. Continue to play all the way to chapter 9 and defeat Alma so you can unlock the White Tiger Helmet and Azure Dragon Helmet. Its best for defense and offense. Now after you save, exit and start a new game on Very Hard. Play all the way to chapter 2 again and beat Doku to unlock Master Ninja difficulty. Now you don't have to waste time by clearing all the difficulties. You can clear Master Ninja difficulty and the trophies will stack. Thanks to Jigsaw for this info.

Make sure to clear Very Hard so you can unlock the Grip of Murder alternate costume. This will help you get Master Ninja rank on all chapters more easily. For experience players, you guys need to adjust to playing on PS Vita. For a Ninja Gaiden game, it can be tough since the controls are much smaller than you're used to.

Ninja Trials:

There is a total of 76 trials. You must complete all of them on Normal, Hard, Very Hard and Master Ninja difficulty to get all platinum coins. Over 300+ completions and every trial gets tougher as you progress. Thankfully, there are enhancements to make things easier for harder difficulties and trials.

Enhancements

  • Grip of Murder Costume - Increases both Attack and Defense when worn. Defeat Alma
  • Azure Dragon Helmet - Greatly increases Attack, but lowers Defense. Defeat Alma
  • White Tiger Helmet - Greatly increases Defense. Unlock Clear the game on Very Hard difficulty setting.

These are even more troublesome than previous Ninja Gaiden. I notice a few things that makes playing Ninja Trials troublesome. First, is the enemies flying at you off screen from camera view. Yes, they did this in previous versions but this time its harder to keep track of enemy spawns and how many you are fighting. What helps is if you pay attention by listening to what's going on. Second, sensitive touch screen for the PS Vita. Its too sensitive that you must be careful of it. You can be performing a move or running away from the enemy and touch screen sends you to first person camera view. This screws you over, especially in tough fights at times. Other than those two, the trials are actually great. Now since you have enhancements to add to your armlet, the game is more enjoyable.

Basic Controls

  • L - Guard
  • R - Center Camera Behind Player
  • - Toggle Display Item
  • :left: - Select Item
  • :right: - Select Item
  • - Use Item
  • :triangle: - Strong Attack
  • :circle: - Use Projectile Weapon
  • :cross: - Jump

This will make you a master of this game. Then you will be ready for Ninja Trials. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1365/15.jpg Fire Wheels Master (B)

Use Fire Wheels successfully 100 times.

Go to your equipment section in the pause menu and select Ninpo > then select Fire Wheels. You find this Ninpo at the beginning of Chapter 2.

Easy but time consuming. Eventually you'll get this in time. The reason it takes so long is because you're limited to a few Ninpo usage. Trophy will unlock after Successfully using your 100th Ninpo.

*Note* When you use Ninpo, there will be a mini game with your touch screen. If you complete it, your Ninpo will become stronger. This is confusing...I'm not 100% sure that you must complete the mini touch screen game in order for it to count towards trophy. I advise you to try to complete all mini touch screen games. To use Ninpo, press :circle:+:triangle: when your Ninpo is available.

Also there is a way to get this trophy very quickly. If you find one of those Team Ninja logos, it will refill your Ninpo. Use all your Ninpos and refill again. Another method is to play Hero Mode. When you're health is low you will activate Hero Mode and have unlimited Ninpos. These are best methods to achieve trophy since you'll have unlimited Ninpos from refilling.

Go to your equipment section in the pause menu and select Ninpo > then select Inferno. You find this Ninpo at Muramasa shop. Buy it from him. You must upgrade to level 3 for it to count.

The hardest difficulty of the game. Trophy will unlock after you've completed the entire game on Master Ninja difficulty. Hopefully you become very prepared. You need to use items and weapons wisely. Try to farm a lot of essences to have a full inventory as you progress. Skip some battles if you feel too uncomfortable. The best advice I can give you is to check out my playthrough here (Ryuujin's Master Ninja Mode Playthrough).

There is a total of 50 Scarabs and most of them are impossible to miss. Some are hidden very well so its best if you follow a guide so you won't lost track of your progress. The trophy will unlock after you've collected all 50 Scarabs.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1365/35.jpg The Journey to Master Ninja (B)

Get Master Ninja on all chapters.

This is a tough trophy to get, plus much harder if you're going for Thanks for playing! - from Team NINJA.

To get Master Ninja rank you have to meet the requirements for Speed, Kills, Ninpo usage and collecting enough essences. First, you want to focus on speed and kills. The others should follow if you don't use any Ninpo and spend too much essence during your chapter playthrough. Below shows the time you must clear in order to receive max points for Normal difficulty

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1365/38.jpg Thanks for playing! - from Team NINJA (G)

Get Master on all chapters on Master Ninja.

This is one of the hardest trophies in the game. The Trophy will unlock after you've cleared all chapters with a Master Ninja rank on Master Ninja difficulty.

Below are each chapter requirements in order to recieve Master Ninja ranking. Overall, I believe that you must reach over 400,000 Karma score for each chapter for it to guarantee you a Master Ninja rank. Plus I added my score to it in bold. *WARNING* This is close to accurate, some of the records MAY NOT be correct. However, its better than nothing... Hope it helps, check out link...

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1365/39.jpg Heroes Never Give Up (B)

Be a Hero 100 times.

Missable!

The only way to get this trophy is if you're playing Hero difficulty. Hero Mode is easy difficulty. To trigger Hero mode, your health must be in the red. It will trigger automatically where you're invincible. Continue this until trophy unlocks.

You can also go for all the Ninpo trophies while going for this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1365/40.jpg Thanks for Finding Me! (B)

Find all Team NINJA logos.

Missable!

Team NINJA logos refill health and Ninpos. Trophy will unlock after you found and activate all 3 logos.

  • Chapters 4 & 6 - located in alley by Windmill Shuriken, near Han's Bar.
  • Chapter 11 - After you defeat 2 tanks, in area behind huge pillar.
  • Chapter 18 - Next to save, before you fight the Vigoorian Emperor.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1365/41.jpg Just Put Me On (B)

Hold 99,999 Yellow Essence.

Missable!

Just save your essences until you reach 99,999 yellow essence. Very easy if you're farming.

If you're planning to farm essences, then the best places to farm is Chapter 12 and 18. Bugs and Ghost Fish die very easily and if you kill them without taking damage you will get bonus essences. Chapter 18 is the fastest since you can accumulate 7-8k per minute if done properly. From 0-99,999 should take 15-20 minutes.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1365/42.jpg Over 10,000,000 Karma (B)

Get 10,000,000 Karma.

See Over 50,000,000 Karma.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1365/43.jpg Over 50,000,000 Karma (S)

Get 50,000,000 Karma.

Karma is the score you receive after you kill an enemy. You can press Start and at the bottom of the screen, you will see an option to display Karma. Press the button to show your Karma score. You can keep track of how much Karma you've collected. This is cumulative so it carries over to whatever you're playing. Ninja Trials helps out a lot because you can over 1,000,000 Karma from certain missions. Bosses also give a lot of karma and the speed challenges gives you a boost as well. This trophy won't take long to achieve.

sorry but there are quite few errors in your guide

first of all

Minimum Number of Playthroughs: 4

recommended number may be 4,minimum required is only 1 (difficulty trophies stack)

After you cleared Hard, Very Hard will become available

you will unlock very hard also when you beat doku in chapter 2 on hard, and you will unlock master ninja if you beat him on very hard, thus there is no reason to complete hard, unless you want to waste additional 10 hours with the game

Missable Trophies: Over 50,000,000 Karma

is not missable,it stacks with all playthroughs and trials, not to mention it's absolutely impossible to make 50 million in 1 playthrough (i think the world record is 23 million)

You begin with 3 difficulties to choose from: Hero, Normal and Hard. If you're new to the game, I suggest that you try Normal difficulty first. That way you can get use to the game more.

hero mode is the same as normal mode, just with activated god mode if you're in trouble, you get all the enhancements, scarabs, ambushes, costumes etc you would get on regular normal,if you complete hero you even get the trophy for normal mode,so again there is no reason to play through normal, unless you have too much time on your hands

ok, thanks! i did not know :D

no problem,i made a little roadmap in the other thread but my english is not that good that's why i didn't submit it,imo it's the easiest way to get the platinum, but it takes 3.5 playthroughs

step 1: start on hero mode, make sure to enter hero mode 100 times, collect all scarabs, team ninja logos and complete all ambushes. when in hero mode you have infinite ninpo,so work on the ninpo trophies if you want. beating hero mode will not only give you the trophy for normal mode, you will also unlock the same enhancements and costumes you would in normal mode

(optional) step 2: complete a few trials, every 10 completed trials you get an enhancement, either for ryu or rachel, the first one should be for ryu and makes your flying swallow attack more deadly, not required, but makes you life easier on hard before you get the helmets

step 3: start on hard with the fiend ryu costume (more health but take more damage),and equip the flying swallow enhancment (of course you first have to learn the tech),make sure to beat doku in chapter 2 to unlock very hard,if you used too many healing items you can reload and just let him kill you, very hard stays unlocked. then play up to alma 1 in the monastery and beat her to unlock the white tiger (highly increases defense, slightly decreases attack) and azure dragon (highly increases attack, slightly decreases defense) helmets. you are done on hard now!

(optional) step 4: while you can jump in right away into very hard i think it's best to complete every single trial at least on normal once, learn to beat the bosses with minimal item usage, the shop prices in very hard and master ninja are alot higher and you can also carry far less healing items

step 5: start on very hard and beat it to get the best costume in the game (increases attack and defense, will stack with armlets and helmets),i recommend to use fiend ryu costume again,it makes the beginning less ridiculous (you can survive 3 hits, instead of being dead with 2 hits!) but it will be harder in the end because when you maxed your health you still have the loss in defense. both the white tiger and azure dragon helmets suck in the first chapter, especially the azure dragon in combination with the fiend ryu costume will kill you in the blink of an eye

step 6: ah,the grip of murder costume, finally! start on master ninja and get "master ninja" and "legendary hunter" in all the chapters, for whatever reason you need even less points for the best ranks than on very hard; spam UTs,be quick, kill every enemy with a timer and make sure your ninpo is filled when completing a chapter, you should get the rank often on your first try,but in case keep mulitple saves at the start of and during each chapter

step 7: clean up; beat all the trials on hard, very hard and master ninja (unlike in story mode the enemy layout doesn't change, you keep fighting the same enemies on each difficulty,so it's not getting really harder, the star-ranking is the real difficulty indicator),get the last few weapon and ninpo trophies and you should be done with the game

thx,one small detail though, you somehow forgot the "Heroes Never Give Up" trophy which requires to activate hero mode (be low on health) 100 times,it's missable and only possible in hero difficulty, that's one of the reasons why you should skip normal mode entirely

in hero mode you have unlimited ninpo and ryu will dodge all attacks automatically, meaning you cannot die during this time,it either ends after around 1 minute,or after you get a certain amount of health back (through items or essence),once your health gets low again you will activate it again and again, simply never use any healing items and you should get it halfway through the game, especially if you are doing all the ambushes

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1365/16.jpg Inferno Master (B)

Use Inferno successfully 100 times.

Go to your equipment section in the pause menu and select Ninpo > then select Inferno. You find this Ninpo at Muramasa shop. Buy it from him.

This is confusing... Im not 100% sure that you must complete the mini touch screen game in order for it to count towards trophy. I advise you to try to complete all mini touch screen games. To use Ninpo, press :circle:+:triangle: when your Ninpo is avaliable.

Also there is a way to get this trophy very quickly. If you find one of those Team Ninja logos, it will refill your Ninpo. Use all your Ninpos and refill again. Another method is to play Hero Mode. When you're health is low you will activate Hero Mode and have unlimited Ninpos. These are best methods to achieve trophy since you'll have unlimited Ninpos from refilling.

to get the "100 ninpo"-trophies you need to level up the ninpo to level 3. otherwise it will not count.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1365/39.jpg Heroes Never Give Up (B)

Be a Hero 100 times.

The only way to get this trophy is if you're playing Hero difficulty. Hero Mode is easy difficulty. To trigger Hero mode, your health must be in the red. It will trigger automatically where you're are invincible. Continue this until trophy unlocks.

You also go for all the Ninpo trophies while going for this trophy.

here is a good farming spot:

1. start the game on hero mode

2. play until you reach the room before the first savepoint in the game

3. let the ninjas hit you until it triggers hero mode

4. kill one of the white ninjas (most of the time they drop blue essence)

5. let the ninjas hit you again...

once you killed all ninjas just leave the room and enter again to make them respawn.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1365/31.jpg Legendary Scarab Hunter (S)

Obtain all scarabs.

Collecting all the Scarabs will make the harder difficulties easier since you'll will unlock merchandise from Muramasa. There are guides scattered across the entire Internet but if you don't feel like looking, you can check my playthrough http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/ninja-gaiden-sigma-plus/148692-ngs-master-ninja-mode-playthrough.html that collected all of them. There is a total of 50 Scarabs and most of them are impossible to miss. Some are hidden very well so its best if you follow a guide so you won't lost track of your progress. Trophy will unlock after you've collected all 50 Scarabs.

for those that don't like to watch a video guide all the time you can link this guide. it describes the scarablocations well but you should mention that the scarabs #23, #24, #34 from this guide are missing.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1365/34.jpg Ninja Massacre (S)

Kill every enemy in all Ambushes.

There are a total of 13 ambushes, 10 for Ryu and 3 for Rachel. You must be aware of the conditions for each ambush to occur or you won't be able to trigger all ambushes. Some ambushes occur after a specific chapter is completed. Certain ambushes won't trigger if you've completed a chapter or destroyed a boss or triggered another event. Below are the list of each ambush in order.

  • Ryu Chapter 3 - Airship (Need ID Card)

  • Ryu Chapter 6 - Archives Room (If you defeat Alma, this won't trigger)

  • Ryu Chapter 10 - Ritual Room (Avaliable after Alma is defeated)

  • Ryu Chapter 12 - Peristyle Passage (long and huge hallway *cannot be missed*)

  • Ryu Chapter 12 - Aquaducts 4B (Bugs spawns, good essence farming place)

  • Ryu Chapter 15 - Zarkhan Stadium (After Doku is defeated and you activate switch)

  • Ryu Chapter 16 - Underground Passage (Cannot be missed)

  • Ryu Chapter 16 - DrawBridge Square (Cannot be missed)

  • Ryu Chapter 18 - Great Bridge Square (Must travel back to the city)

  • Rachel Chapter 5 - Monastery Annex (Back area behind Monastery *Hard to find*)

  • Rachel Chapter 8 - Military Gate (Don't fight Gamov or you'll lose this chance)

  • Rachel Chapter 14 - Hayabusa Village (Near Save and Muramasa's statue)

you don't have to complete all fiend challenges in one playthrough. if you miss one you can do it in your next playthrough and still get the trophy for completing all challenges without completing them all again.

I'm 99% certain that you can't complete ambushes on Hero mode. Completed all the ambushes except for the last of Ryu's on very hard & the last 2 on master ninja. Just can't beat 20+ of those knightmares when they're ganging up on you with 3.

So did Hero Mode for the Hero trophy & getting my 50 scarabs fast and then when I completed the last ambush, trophy didn't unlock :( . Just sucks that I already saved over my savefiles of hard / very hard...

you then missed one ambush, probably the bug room in the aquaducts in chapter 12,you have to clear this room 2 times, you get a ninpo upgrade the first time, and a talisman of rebirth the second time, only the second visit counts as an ambush even though the reward is crappier

i've done everything in hero mode and got every trophy i was supposed to
