Blood_Runs_Cold
NeverDead, Konami’s upcoming third-person action game in development at Rebellion Software, stars a protagonist who never dies. So, then, how exactly could a player experience failure when tasked with completing the game? “He has an AI character partner named Arcadia, who is a normal lady. She can die,” director Shinta Nojiri, who left Kojima Productions to work on NeverDead at Rebellion, revealed during an interview with Gamasutra. “When she’s dead, it’s a kind of Game Over for the player, but we have other cases; she’s not always along with him. The player will also have other cases of failure, but it’s not death. This doesn’t happen to him.” Nojiri goes on to say that relying on an AI partner “won’t be annoying” in NeverDead. They’ve yet to put the game through play tests, but will do so in the future. If anything pops up, the game’s mechanics will be tweaked. DrPopkorne
So if she dies your protagonist slaps his head and goes home? Kinda not a game over for him.
AirborneRichard
I think the idea behind this is that if some of you played "Knights Contract" that even your immortal your IA buddy is not so you always have to kinda switch between defensive and offensive gameplay, what means that you sometimes run ahead killing a few enemies then quikly return to your AI buddy and help her to fend off enemies. Its not a bad idea realy depends how well the IA buddy does his or in this case her job. I think these games kinda stand or fall how well the IA works alongside with you or not, If you always just have to focus on your IA buddy then it takes away alot of fun, if she,s smart enough to keep up and do her part of the job this could def be a great and fun game. Puniceus Extraho
The ways to "fail" during the game are getting your head swallowed by a grandbaby and failing the line sequence to get out, Arcadia dying, and losing your head and falling outta the level too far away from Arcadia during the last few chapters(except for the lava). And I think during the hurricane/tornado sequence if you get dismembered, your head gets taken by a grandbaby, but it says that Arcadia got overrun by demons.
