As of January 11, 2013 EA Sports has shutdown the online servers making the platinum (BOOMSHAKALAKA!) unattainable. If you have earned the following trophies listed below, then platinum is still attainable.

Here is the list of online trophies that can't be obtained anymore:

  • (B)Raw Rookie
  • (S)First Time for Everything
  • (S)Start to Finish
  • (G)Rolling

Introduction

The classic arcade game that we all grew up and loved is back. NBA JAM is back and better than ever with classic campaign and now online play. NBA JAM is a two-on-two basketball game that is fast paced with rim-rocking jams that shatters backboards. If you are not used to playing basketball games, then do not worry as trophies can be earned on easy so casual gamers do not turn away from this classic arcade game of the 90's. By following the road map and trophy guide below you will in no time earn platinum in NBA JAM. BOOMSHAKALAKA!

Roadmap

Step 1: Compete JAM Camp

When you first load up the game and are taken to the main menu, select game modes then JAM Camp. Jam Camp will help you become familiar with the controls of the game. After completing JAM Camp you will have unlocked the ability to use big head mode.

Step 2: Classic Campaign

In Classic Campaign will play all 29 NBA teams, 7 legend teams and the final boss. You can play on easy to make getting through six Classic Campaigns easier. In order to unlock Atlantic Division Represent, Central Division Represent, Northwest Division Represent, Pacific Division Represent, Southeast Division Represent, Southwest Division Represent, Eastern Conference Division, Western Conference Domination, Classical Campaign and NBA Domination , you will need to play classic campaign 6 times. You will be able to unlock all but three trophies associated with classic campaign (Eastern Conference Division, Western Conference Domination, and NBA Domination) during your first play through. Each time you start a new campaign, select a team from one of the six divisions, but do not select a team from a division you have already used in Classic Campaign. After six play throughs, you will have played with a team from each division earning NBA Domination.

I suggest playing the six classic campaigns first to help you become familiar with the game and help you in unlocking hidden players and special abilities that can help you in the remix tour. You can unlock other trophies such as Triple Up and Finger Roll during the classic campaign, but I suggest saving those types of trophies for your clean up run.

Step 3: Remix Tour

Now here comes the most challenging and difficult part of this new version of NBA JAM. Remix Tour has one trophy associated with finishing the tour: 3 The Hard Way. I suggest using a team you are familiar with or has good players such as the Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls or the Miami Heat. In the Remix Tour you will take on all 30 NBA teams with bronze, silver and gold challenges. The difficulty seems to rise based on the level of the challenge. If you are doing a gold challenge, then be prepared for a tough challenge from the CPU. You will need to complete all challenges to earn 180/180 to play the Beastie Boys after the credits roll to earn 3 The Hard Way. The boss battles can and will frustrate you because if you allow the boss to get on fire, then it is game over for you. Restart will be your best friend throughout the Remix Tour. Anytime the boss and your opponents catch on fire or if it looks like you will lose then use the restart option to try again.

Step 4: Online Play

You will need to at least play 10 ranked games online to earn all four online trophies. After the first game you play you will earn Raw Rookie whether you win or lose, but if you win your first game you will have earned First Time for Everything. Make sure in your quest to win 10 ranked matches to earn Rolling that in one game you lead after all four quarters and win to earn Start to Finish.

You can earn all four trophies by challenging yourself in online without boosting, but beware that there has been some connectivity issues online and the online community is very small. If you want to boost, then please use the boosting the thread here.

Step 5: Clean Up

By now you should have most if not all of the trophies. If you are missing a few such as Triple Up or Finger Roll , then now is the time to get them. Any remaining trophies can be obtained in Play Now or Individual Remix games against the CPU or human players. If you are struggling with a trophy such as Finger Roll, then use the three controller method, where player 1 team has one user and one CPU and the other team has two users. Also, for trophies against the CPU you can adjust the game settings to turn off the 24-second shot clock and lower the quarter length to 2 minutes.

Trophy Guide

Play a ranked game online

**No longer attainable due to server shutdown**

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/686/07.jpgFrom Downtown (B)

Score 50% of your team's points while only shooting three pointers

Make sure you select a team with a player that has high three point ability, such as a Ray Allen or Kobe Bryant. Only take three point shots with your player and do most of the scoring with your player only to ensure you scored 50% of your team's points. If you happen to hit or take a non three point shot, then you need to quit and start over. You can do this in a Play Now Match, Classic Campaign game or Remix game. You can check your in-game stats to see if you are on track.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/686/09.jpgFinger Roll (B)

Make 5 layups in a row without getting blocked

Use a player with low dunking ability such as Steve Nash of the Phoenix Suns. Now this trophy is almost impossible against the CPU, even on easy, so I suggest using the three controller method or boost it with a buddy.

Three Controller Method

Play Now Game

Player 1 Team: User and CPU

Player 2 Team: User and User

Quarter Length: 2 Minutes

24 Second Shot Clock: Off

Using Nash, go up as if you're going to dunk by pressing :l1: for turbo and push the :rs: up for a layup five times. After five times, the trophy is yours.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/686/11.jpgHe's on Fire! (B)

Hit a buzzer beater while on fire

This trophy does not have to be a game winning buzzer beater shot. This trophy can be obtained at the end of any quarter of play, but has to be a buzzer beater shot while you are on fire. You become on fire after you make three shots in a row and the opposing team misses their shots in the process of your making three in a row with one player. Time your buzzer beater shot wisely as when you are on fire dunks take longer to execute. I suggest going for a jump shot at the free throw line to give yourself more time for your buzzer beater.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/686/12.jpgBurning (B)

Keep yourself or your teammate on fire until it exhausts by making 5 or more unanswered baskets

This will come naturally throughout the course of game play. You have to be on fire and make sure you or your teammate makes five shots, while the opposing team makes none during your five straight baskets. If you find yourself struggling, then use the three controller method mentioned in Finger Roll or boost it with a buddy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/686/14.jpgWrecking Crew (B)

Beat Backboard Smash in under 2 minutes

From the main menu> game modes> remix modes> smash. It easier to use three controllers (Player 1 team is User/CPU and Player 2 team is User/User) to ensure your team, Player 1's team, wins the game in under 2 minutes. Using three controllers, have player 1's team go for alley oops (alley oops destroy the backboard quicker) and when Player 2's team has the ball, steal the ball and go for another alley oop. This should take no more than a minute to a minute and a half.

The easiest way to get an alley oop is to have your CPU teammate throw you an alley oop by pressing up on the :rs: and hitting :cross: to have your CPU teammate pass you the ball in mid air to complete the alley oop.

Break the backboard in a Classic or Remix game with an alley oop!

This trophy should be done in a Classic Campaign game. Use a team with powerful dunkers, such as the Miami Heat, and only dunk the ball the first three quarters of the game. In the fourth quarter, only do alley oop dunks in hopes of breaking the backboard. I have noticed the backboard breaks in the 60-70 point range late in the fourth quarter.

You NEED to be the one to dunk the ball off the alley oop. Have your CPU teammate throw you an alley oop by pressing up on the :rs: and hitting :cross: to have your CPU teammate pass you the ball in mid air to complete the alley oop. Break the backboard with the alley oop and the trophy will pop

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/686/10.jpgMojo (S)

Win a game with a layup buzzer beater

This will come naturally throughout the course of game play. If you find yourself struggling with an opportunity to win a game with a layup, then you can either use the three controller method as noted in "Finger Roll" or boost it with a buddy. Use Steve Nash of the Phoenix Suns as he has low dunking ability, so you are almost guaranteed he will get you a layup.

If using the three controller method, before the game starts hit :triangle: to change quarter length to 2 minutes and to turn the 24 second shot clock off. At the start of each quarter get control of the ball and let time run out the first three quarters. In the fourth quarter with about 3 or 4 second left in the game go for a layup with Steve Nash by pressing :l1: for turbo and the :rs: up for a layup to win the game. Do NOT score until the final shot of the game.

Defeat all 29 NBA teams and the 7 legends teams to face the hidden boss after the credits are finished with a team from each of the three Eastern Conference Divisions. This trophy should pop when you face the hidden boss, but if it doesn't then defeat the hidden boss and the trophy will pop at the end of the game. I suggest using:

Central Division- Chicago Bulls

While losing by one point, go up for a game winning dunk and have time expire. You lose!

This will come naturally throughout the course of game play if you are playing on a harder difficulty or online. You HAVE TO LOSE the game. Be down by one point in the final seconds of the fourth quarter and go for a dunk by pressing :l1: for turbo and hitting :square: to dunk. When time expires in the fourth quarter to end the game and you are in mid-dunk the trophy will pop.

Win 10 ranked games online

**No longer attainable due to server shutdown**

It is best to find a boosting buddy as there are very few people online and the ones online are very good. With a boosting parter or without one, start off by playing a 2 vs 2 game with 2 people max. Lead after each quarter and win the game to earn Raw Rookie, First Time for Everything, and Start to Finish. Now, go play and win 9 games of 21 to get your win total to 10 to earn Rolling. Then rinse and repeat for your boosting buddy.

If you are boosting, just make sure that you and your boosting partner have the correct match settings to find each other. With the small amount of people playing online, you and your boosting partner should have no trouble matching up. If you need help finding a boosting partner then click here.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/686/05.jpgClean Sheet (G)

Win a Classic or Remix game without letting the opposing team score

Quickest way is using the three controller method mentioned in "Finger Roll." Play either a Classic or Remix game and score once with Player 1's team to take the lead and victory for your team. Whichever team has the ball to start the quarter with needs to hold the ball and let time run out for each quarter. At the end of the game you will have earned Clean Sheet.

Beat the Beastie Boys in Remix Campaign

After you take on all 30 NBA teams and complete all bronze, silver, and gold challenges getting you a 180/180 in the Remix Tour, you will face the Beastie Boys. You will face the Beastie Boys after the credits are finished in a 4-way 21 game.

The difficulty seems to rise based on the level of the challenge, so if you are doing a gold challenge then prepare for tough challenge from the CPU. The boss battles can and will frustrate you. If you allow the boss to get on fire, then it is game over for you. Restart will be your best friend throughout the remix tour. Anytime the boss and your opponents catch on fire or if it looks like you will lose, then use the restart option to try again.

For tips to beat the bosses please use the JAM Boss level strategy thread created by wonder.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/686/16.jpgTriple Up (G)

Beat the CPU by tripling their score in a Classic 2v2 or Remix 2v2 game

This can be difficult if you play on normal settings as the CPU gets real cheap in the 4th quarter. Best way is to set up a 2 vs 2 Remix game with quarters to two minutes, shot clock turned off and CPU difficulty set to easy. Try to score 6 or 8 points without letting the CPU score. After you scored 6 or 8 points, then gain possession of the ball and run back and forth under your basket till each quarter runs out. You will get the ball at the start of two quarters, so you should only have to steal the ball twice. You steal by pressing :circle:. After the game is over, you will have earned Double Up and Triple Up. (Credit: railroberto)

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/686/23.jpgClassical Campaign (G)

Defeat the hidden boss after completing Classic Campaign

You get this trophy after you defeat the hidden boss in your first Classic Campaign play through. You face the hidden boss after the credits are finished. Click below if you want to see the hidden boss.

[spoiler=test]The Hidden Boss is the Stickman team of Red Stickman and Yellow Stickman.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/686/26.jpgNBA Domination (G)

Face the hidden boss after Classic Campaign with a team from each division

This trophy will come naturally when you are going for Western Conference Domination and Eastern Conference Domination. You will need to defeat all 29 NBA teams and the 7 legends teams to face the hidden boss after the credits are over with a team from each of the three Eastern Conference Divisions and a team from each of the three Western Conference Divisions; for a total of six Classic Campaign play throughs. This trophy should pop when you face the hidden boss for the sixth time, but if it doesn't then defeat the hidden boss for the trophy to pop.

If you feel the need to get through the six Classic Campaigns quicker, then look at the strategy below.(Credit: SinRG)

I'm in the middle of going after the campaign trophies and I found an easier way to get the games done without having to pay much attention.

What you need:

1) A team with a good rebounder (2 Pt. high as well)

2) A rubber band

3) *OPTIONAL* A 3 Pt. Shooter

What you want to do is make your CPU teammate the good rebounder and make yourself a regular player (or 3 Pt. shooter). Rubber band down the :square: button and then just sit and watch.

What happens is, your player will lob the ball from your end at the net. Your CPU teammate will then run down the court, grab the rebound and score. Rinse and repeat over and over again. Make note that you will have to press :cross: during half-time as well as to end the game. Essentially, let your CPU teammate do all the work.

Went 36/36 using this method with James and Wade, never lost once.

Thanks for the guide. I'm thinking that I will chip away at this plat rather than go straight for it. I love Jam but this requires ALOT of time offline which isn't as enjoyable as online or local play with friends. Oh well what can you do. I suppose we can be happy the online doesn't require 100 wins seeing how it's broken at the moment.

The iron will trophy (smash the backboard with an ally-oop) does not pop for me anyone else have this problem? I've done it about 5 times already but still nothing

I'm fairly sure it can't be done in backboard smash, because I am having the same problem. I have been the one to receive and the one to throw the alley oop couple times each and not got the trophy.

Edit: or it could be just glitched, but I doubt it with EA.

I was able to get (S)Mojo, (G)Clean Sheet and (G)Triple Up (it would be possible to get (S)Double Up too, but I had already got that trophy) using the following strategy.

Play a game, 2 minute quarters, no shot clock, easy difficulty. Pick the Suns and control Steve Nash. Play whoever. Win the tip, then just stand at half court continually juking your defender for the entire quarter. Do this for the following three quarters. (You will have to steal the ball away from the other team at the beginning of two quarters but it's quite easy to do.) Then as time is expiring, make a layup ending the game at 2-0. You will get all the trophies above.
