Overview:

-Estimated trophy difficulty: 4.01/10

-Offline: 46 (36 (B), 5 (S), 4 (G), 1 (P))

-Online: 0

-Approximate amount of time to Platinum: 9-15 Hours if you go for Remember the Heroes trophy first time through, otherwise you will have to start a new game and replay the entire single player for this trophy which will add another few hours playtime.

-Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 1 if following this guide, 2 if you don't get Remember the Heroes first playthrough

-Number of missable trophies: 5 (Team Spirit, Team Victory, Team Glory, Team Supremacy, Remember the Heroes)

-Do Cheats Disable Trophies?: Yes

Road Map:

For the quickest way to platinum Monsters Vs Aliens follow these steps to get the trophy. Platinum can be achieved in a different order, but that may cause you to have to play the game more then once and take longer then if you follow these steps.

Step 1:

When you first start, make sure your focus is on not failing (dying) so you get the secret "Complete the game without failing more than ten times" trophy. If you do fail you should exit out of the game and restart completely. If you simply quit the stage you're on it will still save your game, which would be counting against your total number of times failed. Focus on not failing the entire game and just beating it your entire playthrough. Otherwise, if you do fail more than ten times you will have to replay the entire game a second time to get this trophy.

Complete all the levels up until Pursuit (Chapter 1, Scene 4). Once you have beat that level go into the DNA Lab and advance to the spot where you are allowed to buy Ginormica's Chain Dash ability. This will help you through all her levels later in the game. After her ability is purchased you can play straight through the rest of the game until you beat it. Don't forget to watch the entire credits after you beat the game for the "Stay Put and Watch" trophy.

Getting the Coop trophies:

You can either play in coop in your first playthrough if you can manage not failing and controlling two controllers, or if you have someone playing with you. If not then after you beat the game without failing go back and get all the coop trophies.

Trophy Cleanup 1:

Just playing through the game you should have aquired most of the other trophies such as "Swallowing 50 enemies with B.O.B." and "Machine Gun Specialist". Which leaves the trophies that will take some time grinding out points/DNA. If you're missing any of these "kill enemy" trophies go back to their scenes and get them.

Trophy Cleanup 2:

Start with the 10 Million Point trophy by following the description for that trophy in this guide. It will take some time grinding points to get this. Then continue going back for the 500,000 DNA trophy. This too will take some time grinding. You can just replay whatever stage you find easiest and that gives a decent amount of DNA each round.

DNA Lab Trophies:

Now all that's left is the DNA Lab trophies and if you have already done the 500,000 DNA then you should have more then enough to go right through this. The only thing that will take a little more time is the Monster Challenge segments in the Lab. If you're stuck getting gold on one particular challenge you can always come back to it after you're done with the rest to get the gold for it.

Then finish up any remaining golds you may have skipped on the Monster Challenges in the DNA Lab and enjoy your new platinum.

There are more Beam Bots in later levels, but this one is the easiest to get the trophy on.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/3/009.jpgNever Say Enough (G) Collect 500,000 Monsters DNA particles in the game.

You get DNA by defeating enemies, picking up the small yellow DNA orbs scattered throughout the world, and by destroying boxes and other similiar items. The yellow stuff that comes out of the boxes is DNA, so make sure you smash all the boxes and destroyable items you see and kill all the enemies instead of running past some. I didn't get the 100,000 DNA particles trophy until the beginning of Chapter 4. You will have to replay scenes via scene select in order to get this trophy. And remember, the large purple orbs scattered around the world will give you bonus multipliers to any DNA you collect, but getting hit removes one multiplier. Also, spending DNA particles in the DNA Lab is fine as this is the cumulative total of all the DNA you have collected.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/3/037.jpgGold Olympic Champion (G) Get a Gold Medal for all Monster Challenges.

There are 35 total Monster Challenges in the DNA Lab and you have to beat the game in order to unlock all of them. Aside from a few, most are not too difficult to get a Gold on within a couple of tries.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/3/039.jpgBe My Guest (G) Get a score of 10,000,000.

Under Scene selection you can see your high score for each scene and your total combined high score. You will only increase this number when you increase your high score on a level. For instance if you have 100,000 points on a level, and go and replay that level and get 90,000 points, that will not raise your overall high score. But if you get 150,000 points on that level your high score will raise by 50,000 points.

Some tips for when you're going back and replaying levels to increase your high scores:

*If you don't get hit at all during the scene at the end of it you will get a Flawless bonus that doubles your total high score for that scene.

*If you have a second controller on and let it fire a few shots you will gain 40,000 bonus points at the end of the level.

*On The Missing Link's levels be sure to use the Bumbers whenever they are there as this will give a bonus at the end also.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/3/045.jpgDefying Gravity (B) (Secret) Jump 150 times with each monster.

I wasn't even focusing on this trophy and it unlocked during the last scene in Chapter 2. So just play the game normally and you'll unlock this trophy in no time.

See "Remember the Heroes"

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/3/043.jpgTeam Supremacy (S) (Secret) Complete Chapter 4 without failing more than 10 times.

See "Remember the Heroes"

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/3/044.jpgRemember the Heroes (G) (Secret) Complete the game without failing more than 10 times.

This isn't as hard as it may seem. Don't rush things too much, especially on B.O.B.'s scenes where he can fall easily. The game auto saves, so if you do fail you will need to quit the game. If you fail and then quit from the pause screen, the game will save also, so you need to use the PS button to quit the game completely.

And remember, failing is losing all your health or falling off a level and you will see the -2000 points pop up in red as you respawn.

If you didn't do this on your first playthrough you will need to start a new save game and replay through the game as going back and replaying the scenes won't work. So it's best to focus on this the first time through.

For 'Remeber The Heroes' can you just use level select to play the levels you think you failed again or do you have to go back through the campaign? Thanks!

Unless Lil_Mermaid_Girl can confirm, I'm afraid this will not work. On my first playthrough I missed: Team Glory, Team Supremacy, and Remember the Heroes. I've been going back through the levels with the scene select, and even if I beat the boss battle again, this doesn't seem to work. Also as she mentioned, you actually have to beat your previous score for it to save again, so I believe you can only use scene select for any of the trophies that are not level related (Most of the trophies are easy and one could even argue that they are story related). All trophies could be obtained through one playthrough, except:

My Thumb Hurts - score 5,000,000 points CUMULATIVE (you will probably get this, but maybe not)

Be My Guest - score 10,000,000 points CUMULATIVE

Never Say Enough - 500,000 DNA points CUMULATIVE

So some additional info and a "if I could start over again" idea:

1) First Playthrough, go strictly for the Level related trophies:

You MUST get these on a complete playthrough and all are MISSABLE Trophies. PLUS (as Lil_Mermaid_Girl mentioned) if you fail I believe you MUST use the PS button to quit the game, otherwise the autosave can screw you:

Team Spirit (beat ch1 w/o failing 10 times)

Team Victory (beat ch1 w/o failing 10 times)

Team Glory (beat ch1 w/o failing 10 times)

Team Supremacy (beat ch1 w/o failing 10 times)

Remember the heroes (beat THE ENTIRE GAME w/o failing 10 times)

2) use scene select and monster challenges once you have successfully got the level trophies out of the way to clean up any trophies missed.

Also for Collateral Damage Trophy:

All I did was go to scene select, picked the first level and just shot any helicopter I saw...rinse and repeat. The first level is really short and easy and Ginormica can practically make it to the end without moving much, if I recall correctly.

I hope this makes sense and this is an excellent guide, this should definitely help anyone who needs it...

What i did for the 10 million points was on the second level where you play as the missing link. I get to the part where it tells you to do two of that slow motion targeting mode and just start killing those robots non stop. After about 30mins to an hour you should have about 600k. Finish the level flawless and you should get about 2.5 million points. I dunno if that is faster or if just replaying levels wouldve been faster but i didnt wanna replay some levels especially the bob ones lol.

So I just finished my 2nd save I had started to get the Remembering the Heroes trophy (which like rob said you need to do in one playthrough), and I got the trophy. So I went back to my original save so I could finish up and get the remaining trophies (500,000 DNA, 10,000,000 points, Monster Challenges and a few others). Anyways i loaded my original save and nothing was there. I didn't have any scenes completed nothing. So I lost all my progress towards those trophies. At least I have my 2nd save where I beat the game so I can go back and do them there, but I mean I'm going to have to redo all the progress I had done towards those trophies.

Not really sure why it glitched and erased my save. It was fine until I beat the 2nd save game also. So that's just a warning to anyone going for Remember the Heroes on a 2nd save. I added that to the guide too since it appears to be glitched. If you're going on your 2nd save you should get all the other trophies 1st then get it. i'd like to know if I'm the only one who has this happen or if it is a big game glitch or something.

Edit: and it's a finished guide, I removed the line at the top saying it was work in progress.

Oh man that sucks! I did back up my save on a thumb drive once I finished, in case something happened. However, getting the 10 million wasn't too bad. I think I did the first 4 sections of Chapter 1 flawlessly(x2) and then I did a few of the BOB levels VERY slowly and with co-op.

I also noticed a way to get your score up with BOB and co-op that helped, at least on his chap 2 levels. I think I scored upwards of 700,000 on at least two of them. If you have the coop weapon maxed, you can use it on anything that moves. So I would just let BOB hang around on a ceiling or something and shoot stuff that could be dangerous. Also when BOB sits on those plasma things to shoot the fuses (the red and white things that fall and surround the ball that you have to shoot in the middle), hold the button down on the coop cannon to max the power shot and let it hit the fuses. It will clear an entire section. Just keep doing this for a while before you blow up the middle part and you should rack up a ton of points...I just re-read that and it sounds really confusing, but I hope it will make sense to anyone who is playing the BOB levels, LOL. Also don't forget to press "X" on the 2nd controller for every level, regardless of if you have someone to help you. I think, even if you don't shoot, you will still get the 40000 coop bonus, which adds up to almost a million by itself.

I have yet to get 500,000 DNA which seems strange, b/c my current DNA is like 300,000+ and I already got over 100,000 on my first playthrough (which I spent on the upgrades, art, etc), so I should be close. It could be deceiving though, b/c I don't think the multipliers count towards the 500,000 total. If that were the case you would get it in no time. I'm just scared that this one is going to take a really long time, LOL.

The 500,000 DNA is a grind fest i been up all night trying to get it :(

Yea I think the developers for this game are bunch of A-Holes, LOL. I mean, I have to play through the whole game, again, just b/c I missed 3 trophies (and I have to quit with the PS button if I do end up dying)? Plus, I could be wrong, but I'm beginning to think that your count for the 500,000 DNA only increments when you actually pick up the DNA Orbs, and not anytime you get DNA (breaking stuff, multipliers, etc)...

EDIT: Ok, guess what just popped up! I ended up just replaying level 6, Infiltration. It's a BOB level that was fairly short and had a lot of DNA Orbs. I think when the trophy popped up I had a total of 330,000 DNA showing. So perhaps the multipliers and breaking stuff does count. If I scored about 170,000 DNA on my first playthrough, then my total would end up being around 500,000...Now I just need to talk myself into playing through the entire game again without dying, LOL.

I just got the DNA and the plat - my DNA total after getting everything in the DNA lab and getting the trophy was 317,712. so shoot for that total.

I found scene 2 to be the best for DNA. It is a short, sweet leverl with lots of multi-dna things and lots of stuff to destroy. You can get ~90K of DNA with little effort in a very short level.

I am editing this to help others as I just finished this stupid game.

First, I did not realize that what the other posters were saying was that you needed around 318,000 showing in your DNA Lab AFTER you have purchased everything. This means the DNA Lab items run about 182,000.

Secondly, DNA you pick up goes by the multiplier you currently have. I did not realize throughout the game that the x5 multiplier needed to be grabbed as quickly as possible and kept as long as possible. I thought it was a bonus multiplied at the end of the match.

Third, you can keep any DNA you have when you exit a match and do not have to get a high score or anything to keep it. Just play the same matches over and over and you will collect all the DNA in the scene.

i just finished this game on my first playthrough, is it advised that i get the 10 million trophy and the 500k DNA trophy before i start again entirely for the remember the heroes trophy?

also, is it correct that the PS button should be used if you die on a level for the remember the heroes trophy?

It won't save it unless you quit from the pause menu. So no need to be quick just quit game after you die and remember never quit from the pause menu only quit from the XMB.
Thanks! :applause:

And also is it possible to get all the co-op trophies without needing another player, by using 2 controllers at once?
