- Difficulty Affects Trophies: Yes - "Tough" and "Pro Driver"

- Glitched Trophies: None

- Cheats: None known at this time.

- Special Conditions: None. You will only need 1 controller and there are no peripheral based trophies.

Introduction:

This is a very easy game and possibly a 10 hour or less platinum for you, with 43 other trophies along the way. More than half of the games trophies can be obtained in just a few hours. So if you're not necessarily a platinum hunter and just want 20 or 30 quick trophies this game is also for you!

It has been a while since a game has let us drive monster trucks. We think back to Just Cause: 2, GTA: San Andreas and MotoStorm: Pacific Rift as games that let us drive them, but this game is nothing but monster trucks from start to finish. The controls are simple, and the game handles well. It actually feels a bit like MotoStorm, but is much easier. Even the hard difficulty, which only requires you to get 20 golds, is an easy trophy. I hope you enjoy this game for how easy it is, inexpensive and truly fun to play. There are portions of the game such as stunt challenges where you may need to watch the tutorial to understand exactly what is expected of you but this doesn't take much effort or skill - just patience. I believe this game is geared more towards children, although there's no shame in enjoying it as an adult.

If you buy this game it comes with a cheap plastic "steering wheel" that is just a circular piece of plastic that your six-axis/dualshock 3 controller locks in to. This is so you can drive the game with six-axis motion controls if you choose to. There are no trophies based on this and it is completely optional. For trophy purposes I would recommend against using it.

General tips to help get you through the game:

- In Time Crunch events if you go off track or miss the time bonus you can press the :select: button and it will respawn you in front of the bonus you missed, or at least back on the track and pointed at the next one.

- In Gate Crasher events pressing :select: will start you off at the original spawn point. If the bonus you are going for is nearest that spawn point you can shave 3-5 seconds off your time by respawning.

- There are 3 different setup types in the game. The best setup for each race is always automatically set for you, so choose that one when the screen shows up.

- In any event where you are racing competitors or the clock you can hit the :select: button to reset your car to the track. This only costs you 50XP and will put you ahead of the competition in most cases. This is a very easy game and that is a cheap way to pass the events, but if you get stuck just remember you can do this. It takes away from the game a bit, but after all this is a trophy guide; not a play the game it was supposed to be played guide.

Roadmap:

There are only 2 modes to this game, Career and Multiplayer which is offline split screen only. You will not be required to ever go into Multiplayer, as all trophies can be earned on Career mode with 1 controller.

Career mode is based on earning XP points to level up and earning Gold medals to unlock cities. In each city there are from 6 - 8 events that must all be won with a Gold medal on any difficulty level to earn "Monster Jam Monster" and "They're all my favorite". There are 20 events that must be won with a Gold medal on Hard difficulty to unlock "Pro Driver". You can go back and redo your favorite events on hard after you have beaten the game, or do them as you go along. Honestly, Hard difficulty is not much different then Easy and should give you no problems at all; especially if you focus on event types you're comfortable with.

There are only 2 missable trophies in this game, so I recommend you go for both of them right from the start. Please see the trophy guide for "Sweep" and "Biggest Fan" trophies. Once these are out of your way the rest of the events in the game can be approached any way you please as long as in the end you have Gold medals in every event. You can redo an event at anytime throughout the game, so retry later if a particular event is causing you frustration.

Trophy Guide:

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/473/02.jpgWelcome to Monster Jam!http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Pass the test event

This will be the first trophy you get. It is basically the tutorial where

you learn the controls. Unmissable.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/473/03.jpgBlinghttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Equip an accessory on a monster truck

To equip an accessory you first have to earn one. I suggest doing this trophy after getting your "Sweep" and "Biggest Fan" trophies. Once you have both of these go to Diggers Dungeon and press :r1: to create your own custom monster truck. You only have to equip one accessory to unlock this trophy. So go ahead and put a bumper on the front of your custom monster truck and watch the trophy pop.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/473/04.jpgSpeed Demonhttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Win a gold medal in 1 Circuit Racing event

Circuit events are just lap events. You can cut corners and drive to the side of jumps if you are having trouble winning. Another helpful tip would be to hold up on :ls: when taking jumps to ensure you land on all 4 tires and maintain control. Remember this is simply a race. You don't need to go for any fancy stunts. Note: This can be obtained on easy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/473/05.jpgPiston Popperhttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Win a gold medal in 1 Stadium Racing event

Stadium racing events are very short 1 or 2 turn sprints to the finish. Each round is 8-10 seconds. It is a bracket style tournament that you have to win 2 rounds to get gold. These are the easiest events in the game in my opinion. If you have trouble getting 20 gold medals on Hard difficulty I would suggest using these events to get them.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/473/06.jpgCrowd Pleaserhttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Win a gold medal in 1 Freestyle event

Freestyle events are about scoring more points than your opponent. These can be some of the tougher events to get gold on hard difficulty. So you can just do them on easy if you are having a tough time.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/473/07.jpgTime is on my sidehttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Win a gold medal in 1 Time Crunch event

Time crunch involves going around the course and driving through shiny diamonds that give you 2 seconds extra time for each one you hit. You have a certain amount of time to collect all of the diamonds before your opponents to obtain gold. Note that you can use respawn vehicle (:l1:) instead of backing up if you miss a "gate". Respawning does not give you a time penalty and is a quick way to reset your truck so you can aim for the next "gate".

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/473/08.jpgShake and Bakehttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Win a gold medal in 1 Team Racing event

Try it on easy if you are having trouble getting first place. You get 10 points for every lap lead in these events and 8 points for second. Just focus on getting the bonus points for leading all the laps. Hopefully your teammate won't stay in last place the whole race and you will get Gold. If your teammate somehow stays in last place for the whole race you might have to do this one again.

Thanks to The-Captain-388 for correcting a mistake in trophy description.

Win a gold medal in 1 Gate Rush event

This type of event is a circuit based event with diamond time bonuses worth 2 seconds each that you can pick up along the way. You don't have to collect each of the time bonuses along the way, but you should try to get most of them; especially if playing on hard to ensure you win the event. If you miss one don't worry about it, just keep moving along. It takes much longer to turn around for a 2 second bonus then it does to just keep trucking towards the next one. Another tip to keep your truck stable and on the track is to press up on :ls: when going up a jump and holding it while in the air to ensure you land on all 4 tires. You won't even need to use 4-wheel steering for the early events in this category, just slow down a bit to get a nice straight line off the turn.

Win a gold medal in 1 Stunt Challenge event

In this event you will follow the instructions given in the Stunt Challenge tutorial and then do those stunts quicker than the best time listed in the upper left corner. If you are having trouble on stunt events make sure you experiment with different jumps other then the one they start you out facing. Often times they will tell you to do a certain stunt then aim you at a particular jump. That jump they aim you at isn't necessarily the best jump to complete the stunt on. You may be able to pull it off, but there is almost always a better jump to try on. For example: At New Orleans 2nd event (Stunt Challenge 6) when they make you do a Pogo stunt, don't even try it off the jump it aims you at. Instead, from the start, look right for the green dirt jump. It is much easier to get your truck in the air without over rotating.

Customize more than 5 monster trucks.

This is a very simple trophy. Go to Diggers Dungeon and press :r1: to get to the custom monster trucks menu. Just go through and change the paint color on 5 of them to unlock the trophy. Note: you will have to get gold medals on all of Minneapolis and part of Houston before you have unlocked custom monster trucks to customize.

Reach level 20

You get XP by completing events. You get more XP for beating an event on hard rather than medium or easy. This trophy is unmissable if you complete the game. Even if you do every event on easy you will still reach level 20 before the end of the game.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/473/16.jpg Sweephttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Win a gold medal in 3 events in a row

This trophy can be done on easy difficulty and you can also use restart (:circle:) if you don't win the event the first time instead of :cross: to do the event over. This will not take away from your streak as long as you win the gold before moving on.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/473/17.jpg Defy Authorityhttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Defeat any two champion monster trucks in their home event

Defeating 2 trucks at their home event is an unmissable trophy if you are going for platinum. But if you are not, then do all of the events at Minneapolis then up to the 6th event in Houston. After beating the 6th Houston event (stadium race) you will get this trophy. This can be obtained on easy as well.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/473/18.jpg Can't be Stopped!http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Perform 200 Big Saves in total

You will learn what a save is very early in the game but still may not have 200 of them by the time you've completed every other trophy. So if you are looking for a place to farm this one try Las Vegas freestyle. Straight ahead from the main spawn are 3 jumps in a row with a narrow path between them and the arena wall. Use these 3 hills to purposely roll on your side. You can do this at slow speed. Once on your side point both front and rear tires towards the wall and hit nitro. You can get 4 Big Saves per run, saving you a lot of time and hassle. Only use nitro to get the vehicle upright in this area if you want to get 4 per run. Note: Hitting restart when the time is over does not reset your count. Feel free to keep hitting restart when the time is done when going for this trophy.

Perform 100 Donut or Cyclone stunts in total

Very easy, as explained in the tutorial simply hold :cross: and either direction on :ls: and hit the gas from a dead stop. You will first do a donut and once you get the 50 points hold :l1: until you get the points for a cyclone, let go of :l1: and repeat... donut then cyclone, donut then cyclone until you get this trophy. You can do this in any mode, but this is one of the stunt oriented trophies that you might not get during the regular course of the game, so if not, go ahead and just do them over and over until you get it. To make it a bit more fun when doing it this way try doing it on the edge of a huge jump. You can do 3 rotations per second sometimes this way, although you won't get points for each rotation.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/473/21.jpg I think I'm gonna be sickhttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Perform 50 Flat Spin or Barrel Roll stunts in total

These can be a bit tricky but you will likely get this trophy by the time you beat the game due to the amount of freestyle events they put you in. Basically hitting a jump at an odd angle with only one side of the truck hitting the jump will do a barrel roll. There will be a stunt challenge event where you are told more specifically how to do barrel rolls and flat spins. This is a must do challenge to platinum the game.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/473/22.jpg Showoffhttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Perform 50 Wheelie, Slap Wheelie or Stoppie stunts in total

Very easy trophy like the rest of these "do x amount of stunts" trophies. Hold down on :ls:and hit :l1: from a dead stop to do a wheelie. This will likely be your first stunt related trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/473/23.jpg Impossible!http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Perform 25 Front or Back Flip stunts in total

Holding down on :ls: and getting speed on a steep jump while using nitro (:l1:) will get you a backflip almost every time. Even if you don't land on all four tires you will still get the backflip bonus.

Win a gold medal in at least 1 event in each stadium

This trophy will unlock when you get your first gold in the last city if you play them in order. You must win one gold in Indianapolis, Minneapolis, Houston, New Orleans, Orlando, San Diego, Las Vegas and Oakland.

Win a gold medal in every event of 1 stadium

Winning a gold medal in every event in a stadium is very easy especially considering you can do it on the lowest diffuculty. I acheived all golds in Minneapolis because it was the first stadium introduced. Note you have to advance to level 5 before all events will be available at Minneapolis.

Destroy 250 obstacles in the game

250 obstacles will come within your first hour or two. Anything that takes damage or moves will count towards this trophy. The good thing is in the races you can cut the corners and hit the inside pylons and they don't penalize you. These pylons will count towards the 250 and ultimately the 500 objects destroyed trophy. Other objects that count towards this trophy are cars, vans, buses, motorhomes and airplanes.

Win a gold medal in 20 events

If you are having a tough time getting 20 golds try doing all of the stunt challenge events in each city, then the stadium races. They are the easiest challenges to gold and there are plenty more than 20 throughout the game.

This trophy comes after you unlock the final performance upgrade for the Monster Trucks. You will obtain this trophy as you progress through the events in each city and gain XP. This trophy should pop once you reach level 18.

Thanks to jaiwtfy for confirmation/clarification.

Earn 9,000 xp in a single event

A good place to go for this trophy is at the Southern Tour event unlocked after reaching level 10. They give you a full 2 minutes to complete stunts. Barrel rolls count for 150XP in this event and they always set you up in front of a very steep hill. So go for those over and over by putting your side two tires on the jump when you nitro up it. Rinse and repeat. While 9,000 may seem like a lot in other events, it stacks up here very quickly. It can be done on easy difficulty.

Win gold medals in 20 different events on hard difficulty

If you are having a tough time getting 20 gold medals on hard difficulty try doing all of the stunt challenge events in each city, then the stadium races. They are the easiest challenges to gold on hard and there are plenty more than 20 throughout the game.

Win a gold medal in 1 Freestyle event w/ a score higher than 40

I was having trouble with this one until I read the achievement description on x360a.org by Drake O'Phile in which he gives some great tips that got me the trophy on my second try. So try this: Go to Minneapolis to the second event which is a freestyle event. Use the first 30 seconds or so doing laps around the perimeter of the arena to run over and smash all the yellow cars and pink vans; don't worry about the cars all packed in the middle jump. After you have all the cars smashed work on hitting the jump in the middle straight on from either side of the arena. Go for the simple and safe tricks on this jump such as slap wheelies, sky wheelies and pogos. If you do end up on your side try to right the vehicle to get the Big Save points. Just be careful not to flip your truck so you can get the 30 seconds bonus time for not respawning and an additional 5 points added to your score. Once you get your bonus time and haven't flipped yet, start using the nitro button (down on :ls:) to do big backflips off of the quarter pipe ramp on the left wall of the arena from where you start. If this doesn't work for you after a few tries, start paying a bit more attention to the points breakdown at the bottom of the screen after your run to see where you may be able to improve.

Win both the Southern and Western National Tour

Once you reach level 15 you will have unlocked both the Southern and Western Tour. These tours appear on the right side of your map. Each consists of three events of different disciplines. You should have no trouble beating these, as you can do it on easy difficulty.

Defeat all 8 champion monster trucks once in their home event

Once you beat the final home crowd favorite at their home track this will unlock. It is unmissable if you are going for platinum in which you need to get gold in all events anyway. If you play the game in the same order each event unlocks you will get this in the third event at Oakland. It is a Gate Rush event.

Secret/Hidden Trophies:

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/473/26.jpg Yard Salehttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_secret.pnghttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Lost 2 wheels of a monster truck in an event

You are close to getting this when your tires are wobbling after getting in a few wrecks. It is easier to have both of your front tires wobbling at the same time then you can just go full speed into a wall. The trophy will unlock a few seconds after both tires fall off.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/473/28.jpg Split a second http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_secret.pnghttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png

Won a gold medal in a racing event with a lead less than 0.5 seconds

This trophy comes easiest when doing stadium racing as the races are very short and often only 1 turn. Keep repeating the event 6 at Houston if you are having trouble with this trophy. You can do it in round 1 or round 2, as long as you finish within 0.5 seconds ahead of your opponent.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/473/33.jpg Tricktionaryhttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_secret.pnghttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Performed 10 types of stunts in one event

The easiest way to get this trophy is to go to a Stunt Challenge where you have unlimited time and no penalties. Instead of doing the required stunt go ahead and do each one of the tricks until the trophy pops. There are 12 tricks in the game. Wheelie, Stoppie, Sky Wheelie, Slap Wheelie, Pogo, Flat Spin, Donut, Cyclone, Back Flip, Front Flip, Barrel Roll and Big Save. Alternately, you can goto Diggers Dungeon (the garage in career mode) and press :triangle: to get into an untimed test run.

Thanks to ThuSSie and Manifest Destiny Pt. 2 for methods that give you unlimited time to get the job done.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/473/35.jpg Still got three morehttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_secret.pnghttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png

Finished a freestyle event with a wheel detached and won

You can do this on easy and get some quick points by hitting big jumps. Once you know you are above the required amount to get gold start nitro'ing into the walls. Once you lose a tire be sure to not hit :select: for respawn and just let the time run out. Drake O'Phile from x360a.org made note that the first freestyle event in Minneapolis is the easiest to get this as you only need 20 points to win the event, giving you extra time to knock your tire off.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/473/37.jpg Unstoppablehttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_secret.pnghttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png

Crossed the finish line with a wheel detached and won the race

As brought to light by Drake O'Phile from x360a.org, Houston Circuit Race is the best place to get this done. Play on easy so you have a better chance at winning and hold UP on :ls: over every one of the big jumps, making sure to land on your front wheels. By the second lap they should both be very wobbly. Once you enter the tunnel near the end of the second lap nitro into the wall of it to knock a tire off. The finish is only a short distance away now and just nurse your 3 wheeled monster truck to the finish.

Attended 20 events in a row without changing the monster truck

Just don't change your monster truck from the start of the game until this trophy pops. It goes quick. Most events are less than 2 minutes and some you can get the gold in less than 20 seconds. It is not mandatory to win each event to get this trophy.

Fully customized one monster truck: placed an accessory, vinyl or decal in every area

To fully customize a monster truck simply put a front accessory, middle (roof) accessory, a rear accessory and a package (a tail, or other novelty accessory). Then you have to put a decal on each one of the 4 areas (front, middle, rear and side) to unlock this trophy. Once you have gotten "Sweep" and "Biggest Fan" trophies you will have enough decals and accessories to obtain this trophy.

Donkey-er for assistance with formatting.

tuffmuff for formatting, grammar, and punctuation.

jaiwtfy for confirming and clarifying the "Advance Auto Parts Upgrade" trophy.

YokA_sun for correcting "Bodyshop Wizard" trophy description.

ThuSSie and Manifest Destiny Pt. 2 for discovering ways to get Tricktionary with no time limit.

The-Captain-388 for pointing out a mistake in the "Shake and Bake" trophy description.

Please feel free to ask questions, point out typos, grammatical errors, or lack of detail and I will address them and improve the guide. This may be one of the easiest games so far for a quick platinum. It is definitly the most fun I've had in such a short platinum.

Thank you for reading, and Good Luck.

plastic steering wheel ? is the disc not normal ? how much it costs

To the best of my knowledge it is only sold in retail stores as the bundle which includes the cheap plastic steering wheel. It costs less then $40 USD still, and I don't beleive it's available [new] without the wheel.

You do not need the cheap wheel to play this game whatsoever. It's just a sixaxis, dare I say, gimmick.

I have beat 20 events on hard. Do I have to do the rest on hard, or can I switch to easy now?

As long as you got the trophy for winning 20 events on hard you can switch to easy for the rest of the events. You don't have to start a new game or anything. Just finish up the rest of the events on easy.

great guide, well done, thank you. easy platinum.

I can confirm for the Advance Auto Parts Upgrade, you don't have to drive the Grinder truck. I only drove it once and didn't like the flags hanging it off of it, so I drove a variety of other trucks. You get the Advance Auto parts just by leveling up.

Thanks for confirming this. I corrected the trophy description and added you in Contributors and Special Thanks.

for bodyshop wizard, you need to play decals onto 4 areas (front, side, rear and top). In the guide it says 3.. :)

How could I have missed side?! Well I admit I slipped up on that one. I think I tried to over describe the trophy anyway. I made the correction and gave you credit as well.

sure will, just got my copy in:D

finaly! after all those months!:D

will start it later today;)

EDIT: just got the plat:D great guide!

just some tips: for Port of Call you also need Indianapolis, you forgot that one;)

and personaly I found it a big help to just do everything on easy first, unlock each event and get the gold medals. after that you know which events are easy and you got a ton to chose from (the Stunt Chalenges and Stadium Races only net up 16 wins... I did freestyles with it, but you missing a little detail there:P hahaha;) I know how much you like details:P)

I did 10 different stunts in a freestyle not a stunt challenge, goddammit :(

This game's AI is fucking retarded in the circuit races. It's so hard to get around them most of the time and they keep cutting in front of you. Most of the maps have too many gay obstacles that make passing so difficult. It's really frustrating when games have these bullshit AI.
