**It seems some people are having problems with some trophies not unlocking when they should be. Some people are reporting it's due to the auto-save feature never turning off (it's constantly showing in the lower corner of the screen), so if you see this happening, you will have to quit out of your game and restart it as some trophies might not unlock. If any other trophies are not unlocking for you and the auto-save isn't acting up, the only way to fix it that seems to work is to delete your save data and restart the game, trying for it with a fresh start. There are also known issues with even being able to connect to the servers in the first place but there is a fix:

Walkthrough

Introduction:

It's the classic game of Monopoly brought to life in all new 3D environment. Play the game solo against computer players, with friends and family or even online! Take your game to the all-new city board that brings everything to life as you play or choose from a load of new board types to play your game with. The gameplay itself is standard fare and is the same traditional Monopoly as most of us are used to playing, but can be changed up a little with a variety of different rule sets. Trophy wise, they are extremely easy for the most part with the majority being offline with a few online ones thrown in as well. There are a couple that are slightly luck based, but the rest shouldn't take that long at all to get making this a rather easy platinum.

Walkthrough

Step 1: Play An Offline Game To Get The Majority Of The Misc Trophies

Start a 2-player game on the MONOPOLY City board with custom rules set to the follow (only changes are shown, the rest can be changed if you wish or left the same):

Game Setup Rules

Starting Cash: $2500 / Starting Properties: All / Starting Property Distribution: Random Auction / Speed Die: On

Gameplay Rules

Build Rules: City Build / Houses Per Hotels: 1 / Selling Houses Percentage: 100

Board and Property Rules

Salary For Passing Go: $500 / Income Tax: $500 / Income Tax 10% Rule: On / Luxury Tax: $250 / Free Parking Payout: $500 / Max Turns In Jail: 4

Start the game and aim for all the non-win related trophies in this playthrough. Once you finish the game and win, you will get Winner.

Step 2: Win 9 More Offline Games

Play 9 more games against yourself and aim for any remaining Offline trophies that you have left to get. If you want to make the games go quicker, than just have the second player keep declaring bankruptcy after their first turn so that the game ends quickly and you constantly win. After those 9 games are finished and you've won them all, you will get Building An Empire.

Step 3: Play 11 Games Online & Win 10 Of Them - Unobtainable due to server closure

Go online and play a game against anyone and lose on purpose (declare bankruptcy at the beginning of the game). This will get you Plays Nicely With Others & I Want A Rematch. Now play 10 more games and win them all. While playing these games, make sure you aim for the remaining Online trophies (check HERE for descriptions). After you win the 10 games, you will get Taking Over The World (as well as any additional ones you picked up along the way.

Step 4: Clean-Up

Go back and clean-up any remaining trophies you are missing at this point by going into the appropriate modes to get them. Once you obtain the other 40 trophies, then the Platinum will be yours!

Win your first game of MONOPOLY Streets

Just play and win any game of Monopoly Streets. Easiest way to get this is to start a 2-player game and after the game starts, have the second player declare bankruptcy after his first turn, giving you the win automatically! After the game is over, the trophy will pop!

Rolled Triples

In order to be able to roll triples, you must turn on the speed die in the custom rules options menu before you start the game. After that, just roll triples (can only be 1's, 2's or 3's as those are the only "numbers' on the speed dice) in the game and the trophy will pop after!

Won 10 offline games

Just win 10 games offline for the this one. Quickest way is to start a 2-player game and after the second player's first turn, have him declare bankruptcy so that you win the game right away. Rinse and repeat 10 times and the trophy will pop after the final one!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/554/07.jpg Expensive Property http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Acquire the most expensive property in the game

The most expensive property in the game is Boardwalk, so you just have to obtain that property by either buying it or trading for it. Easiest way to get this is to set up a 2-player game which all the properties are given out at the beginning of the game. If you did not get Boardwalk as one of the properties, than have the second player trade it to you. Once you have Boardwalk in your possession, the trophy will pop!

Note: The name might be different for those without the US version. This is the last property on the board.

Replaced your houses with a hotel

Easiest way to do this is to do a custom rules game with "Houses Per Hotel" set at 1 so you only need to buy 1 house before you can buy a hotel for the property. Also set it up so all properties are given out at the beginning of the game so you can get a monopoly immediately. Just buy a hotel on any of the possible proporties and the trophy will pop!

Rolled doubles to get out of Jail for free

Somewhat luck based of a trophy as you need to be thrown in jail (either by rolling doubles 3 times in a row, landing on the Go To Jail spot on the board, or getting a Go To Jail card from Community Chest or Chance) and then roll doubles to get out before it forces you to pay the fine. Once you roll doubles to get out of jail, the trophy will pop!

Successfully won against 3 hard AI

Start a game with 3 computer players set to HARD AI and win. After you complete the game and win, the trophy will pop!

There are many different strategies on doing this (check replies in this thread and other posts in the forum), but the easiest I've found is this:

Start a game with the Bull Market rules set. When the game begins, all the properties will start getting auctioned off. Try to pick up the light blue (Oriental, Vermont & Connecticut) & purple St.Charles, States, & Virginia) groups for as cheap as you can. Normally if you get one of those to start, you can get the rest for around the normal price as the computer won't bid too high after that first one. Also, if you can get Baltic & Mediterranean as well, that's just another bonus, but don't speed too much to get them. With the other properties, keep raising your bid on them so it forces the computer to bid higher and higher on them (but don't bid too much that you are forced to buy it yourself as you want to save your money) and try to get all of them to start with basically nothing money wise. After your first turn, start building houses on those properties (put the most on the ones your opponents are closest to for max chance of them landing on them). Keep playing the game and adding houses to those properties and do what you can to avoid theirs.

By doing it this way, by the time you reach the 20 rounds played to end the game, most of the time you will have had them land on those properties quite a few times and with houses and hotels on them, it will boost your worth alot with the rent they will be paying and push you past everyone else to win. I've tried this method 5 times already, and won 4 of the 5 with the only loss coming because I kept landing on Go To Jail so I rarely passed GO for the extra cash.

Completed a trade that gave another player a color group

Start a 2-player game and set the rules so that all the properties are given out at the beginning of the game. After your first turn, select "Trade" from the End Turn menu and trade player 2 enough properties to give him a monopoly and have both sides accept. After the trade is complete and the other player has a monopoly from that trade, the trophy will pop!

Bought a property cheaply

Start a 2-player game and when someone lands on a property for the first time, have them send it to auction instead of buying it. When the auction starts, have on player bid $1 on it and the other player do nothing. After the auction is over, the trophy will pop!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/554/14.jpg Celebrating 75 http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Acquired your 75th property

The fastest way to do this is setup a 2-player game with custome rules so that all the properties are given out at the beginning of the game. After the first player's turn is complete, have them select "Trade" from the End Turn menu. Trade for all of player 2's properties for $1 and then have both players accept the trade. After that, go back into the "Trade" option and trade all the properties to player 2 for $1 and have both players accept. Repeat the process a few times until the trophy pops!

Went to jail for the 3rd time in one game

Somewhat luck based of a trophy as you need to be thrown in jail 3 times in one game. You go to jail by either by rolling doubles 3 times in a row, landing on the Go To Jail spot on the board, or getting a Go To Jail card from Community Chest or Chance. After the 3rd time your sent to jail in one game, the trophy will pop!

Received 120 on a Utility rent

You must first obtain both Utility properties (Electric Company & Water Works). Easiest way is to start a game where all the properties are given out at the beginning and trade for them if you don't get them immediately. After that, you have to get your opponent to pay you the max rent amount ($120) for them. There are 3 ways of doing this. The first is to have them land on one of them by rolling a 12 to get there. The second is to have them pick up a "Go To Nearest Utility" card from either Chance or Community Chest and then having them roll a 12 to determine the rent. The last and slightly easiest is to turn the speed dice on, trade away all your properties but both ultilities, and then have your opponent roll a Mr. Monoply, taking them to one of those spots immediately (which makes it so they don't have to land on it perfectly with a 12, but they still have to roll one). Once you get your opponent to pay the max ammount, the trophy will pop!

Received more than 200 when landing on Free Parking

Start a 2-player game with custom rules so that landing of Free Parking will pay you $500. Play the game and try to land on Free Parking. Once one of the two players does, the trophy will pop!

Own all the railroads

Start a 2-player game with custom rules so that all the properties are given out at the beginning of the game. If you don't get all 4 railroads at the start of the game, then after your first turn, select "Trade" from the End Turn menu and have the second player trade you the remaining ones. After you have all 4 of the railroads, the trophy will pop!

Someone pays you rent before your second turn

Start a 2-player game and have the game set to custom rules so that all the properties are auctioned off at the start of the game & have your player buy all the properties for $1. Start the game and aim to have other player land on one of one of your properties before you make your second turn (if they don't, then have them declare bankruptcy and start the game over). Once they do, the trophy will pop!

Start a 2-player game and when someone lands on a property for the first time, have them send it to auction instead of buying it. Once the auction starts have the second player bid more than twice what the property is worth and win it with that bid. After the auction is over, the trophy will pop!

You first need to get a "Get Out Of Jail Free" card from either the Chance or Community Chest spots. Once you do, try to get thrown in jail (either by rolling doubles 3 times in a row, landing on the Go To Jail spot on the board, or getting a Go To Jail card from Community Chest or Chance). After you are there, select to pay the fine to get out instead of using the card and the trophy will pop right after!

Paid 1200 in Taxes in one game

As the description states, you must pay $1200 worth of taxes in one game. You pay taxes when you land on either the Luxury Tax or Income Tax spots on the board. A way to speed up the process is to play a custom rules game so that you pay more when you hit those, making the grind to $1200 a little quicker. In the custom rules menu, set Income Tax to $500, turn Income Tax 10% Rule to ON, and put Luxury Tax at $250. Once you pay $1200 or more in taxes in one game, the trophy will pop!

Player has built 500 houses

This trophy is cumulative and does not have to be done in one game. Easiest way is to set your starting game stats to their maxes (Starting Cash, Go Money, Etc Etc), make it so the game to auction off all the proporties at the beginning of the game and change the houses resale value 100. Buy all the proporties during the auctions for $1 each. After your first turn is over and you are at the "End Turn" menu, select "Build & Mortgage" and build 4 houses on every property, then save and exit back to the "End Turn" menu. After that, go back into the "Build & Mortgage" screen and sell all the houses, then save and exit again. Rinse & repeat until you reach your 500th house. Once you've bought your 500th house, the trophy will pop!

Finished a game with total worth greater than 9000

Easiest way to do this is to start a 2-player custom rules game with all the properties being given out at the beginning of the game & the starting cash amounts at $2500 a person. After the games begins, have player 2 trade you all his properties and money (which should make your worth be well over $9000), and then have him declare himself bankrupt so you win. In order to be able to roll triples, you must turn on the speed die in the custom rules options menu before you start the game. After that, you will need to roll 2 "6's" on the regular dice and a "3" on the speed one to get 15. Once you do, the trophy will pop after!

See the bank run out of hotels in a game with Official MONOPOLY rules

This one can be a grind because you have to use the Official MONOPOLY rules instead of custom ones. Start a 2-player game and aim to get the first 5 color groups in the game (Dark Blue, Light Blue, Purple, Yellow & Red) and about $6500 in cash. When buying proporties, always let them go to auction and buy them for $1 so you maximize your cash. Once you get those two requirements, build a hotel on all of them with the Red's being the last so that the bank runs out of hotels. Once they do, the trophy will pop!

Start a 2-player game and have the game set to custom rules so that all the properties are given out at the start of the game. After your first turn, select "Trade" from the End Turn menu and trade away all your properties except for 1 monopoly (if you don't have any, have the other player give you whichever properties you need to get one) and have both players accept it. The trophy will pop right after that!

Get the largest upgrade to your corporate HQ

You must play on the Monopoly City board to get this. In order to upgrade your Corporate HQ to it's largest upgrade, you must be worth more than $11000. Easiest way to do this is to start a 2-player custom rules game with all the properties being given out at the beginning of the game, the starting cash amounts at $2500 a person and $500 for passing GO. After the games begin, move around the board til you pass GO for the first time, then have player 2 trade you all his properties and money which should make your worth be just over $11000 (as long as you didn't have to pay anything as you went around the board). Once you're worth over $11000, you Corporate HQ will upgrade to it's largest upgrade and the trophy will pop!

Own one of each color group at the same time

Start a 2-player game and have the game set to custom rules so that all the properties are auctioned off at the start of the game & have your player buy all the properties for $1. After it's finished and you have one of each property type & color, the trophy will pop!

Provide the best Hotel Service on the most expensive property without a player going bankrupt

Easiest way to do this is to start a 2-player custom rules game with all the properties being given out at the beginning of the game, the starting cash amounts at $2500 a person and the speed dice turned on. After the games begins, trade player 2 all your properties except Boardwalk (have him trade it to you if you don't have it), than have player 2 mortgage all his properties so that you won't have to pay anything if you land on them. Build a hotel on Boardwalk and then continue to play the game until player 2 lands on Boardwalk (either by landing on it by a roll, getting Mr. Monopoly on the speed die, or by being sent there by a Chance card). Once he lands there and pays the rent, the trophy will pop after their next roll!

Note: The name might be different for those without the US version. This is the last property on the board.

Online Trophies

Paid the smallest rent in an online game

UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

When playing online, make sure your opponent has Mediterranean Avenue and then aim to try to land on it so you end up paying him rent on it. Make sure they do not have any houses or hotels on it! After you do, the trophy will pop!

If you need help find someone to play with, you can use the Trophy Boosting Thread.

For the Doesn't hurt much trophy, to quickly get this with a boosting partner, set up a custom game with the speed die on and auctioning off all property at the beginning of the game. Then, have one person buy all the property except for Mediterranean Avenue and the other person only buy Mediterranean.

Now, simply play the game until the person that owns all the property rolls a Mr. Monopoly on the speed die. Since Mr. Monopoly warps a person to the nearest property that is not owned by the person who rolls it, this will take him to Mediterranean Avenue immediately after his normal turn (assuming the person doesn't go to jail before the Mr. Monopoly warp).

Note: The name might be different for those without the US version. This is the first property on the board.

Player has won 50 online auctions

UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

Easiest to be done with a boosting partner. Start a game with custom rules so that all the properties are auctioned off at the beginning of the game and have your partner let you win them all. After that, have them declare themselves bankrupt to end the game. Rinse and repeat until you've won 50 auctions (should only take 2 times). After you get your 50th one won, the trophy will pop!

The most annoying trophy is the make 120 from a utility. It's all luck and could take you many games to get it. aside from that everything else is a cake walk. Nice Guide and thank you. Nice easy rentable weekend platinum that I unfortunately paid 43 dollars for since I love monopoly.

I did too, but my wife loves Monopoly so she'll play it like crazy, so it'll end up being worth it in the end.

Yeah, the 120 one is a pain in the butt, thankfully I lucked into it really quickly though. The triples & 15 one are a little bit of a pain in the butt as well, but at least you get more chances at them so their not as bad. Everything else though is a insanely easy.

For the Doesn't hurt much trophy, to quickly get this with a boosting partner, set up a custom game with the speed die on and auctioning off all property at the beginning of the game. Then, have one person buy all the property except for Mediterranean Avenue (not Baltic) and the other person only buy Mediterranean.

This essentially takes the luck and hope factor out of the equation (and also helps towards the Auctioneer trophy, since one person buys 27 property at the beginning of the game).

Also, the speed die can help with the 120 at a utility trophy as well. Have one person own all the property except for the utilities and the other person only own utilities. Every time the person with all the property rolls a Mr. Monopoly, he should warp to a utility immediately.

Successfully won against 3 hard AI

Start a game with 3 computer players set to HARD AI and win. After you complete the game and win, the trophy will pop!

I have a guide contribution.

This is how I got this trophy to pop quick and easy:

Play a regular monopoly board game. Any board will do, I played this one on the arctic board. Go to custom rules and tweak these settings. Starting cash set to $2,500 (there is good reason for this), no speed die, always auction set to off, salary when passing go set to $500, turn landing on go to double cash, Set the win condition to the most color groups, and set the required groups to get to 1. This is why I set this entire strategy to have high amounts of cash. The computer will never let a property go for a small profit margin on any difficulty, so you have to have a huge stash of cash on deck to offer the computer AI an exorbitant amount of money.

I set this up and won really quickly actually. I just got lucky and was able in my first go around the board to snatch up both utilities.

Good Luck guys, I hope this helps you out and this strategy gets adopted into the guide. I'd love to make my first contribution. (being referenced as giving this strategy would be sweet too)

ok my partner tried to unlock the trophy "Glad its not my Bill" he tried for 10 hours straight to unlock it and followed your guide word for word but it still won't unlock, any help please? or is this trophy glitched?

This is not glitched. Set up a two-player game. Have one player owning water works and electrical company only. Then the other player just need to throw two 6s and a monopoly and he will eventually step on one of the ultilities and pay a maximum fine of M120. The trophy will pop then.

This is a great guide...got me the plat in 1 day.

Anybody having trouble with the Glad it is not my bill! trophy should try mortgaging all the other properties besides the utilities.

Then trade the utilities every turn...i got it on my 34th turn with 2 player trading the utilities back and forth.

Hope that might help.

Nice guide.

Here is what I did for the single player trophies this is what I did.

I had 4 controllers, so I have 4 players. I let each player keep the property they landed on..

I just keep playing and had each account bankrupt as necessary.

Winner

Building the Empire

No Ground Untouched

Expensive Property

Eviction Notice

Bypass Bail

Philanthropist

Flea Market

Celebrating 75

Repeat Offender

Glad its not my Bill

Better than Free

I Like Trains

Great Start

Market Inflator

Now that is ROI

I'm Keeping this Card

Subdivision

Mega-Tycoon

Property Magnate

This Plan is Better

Hotel Maximus

So Big and Shiny

Rainbow

Concierge Service

Basically I traded properties and money at different points in game. Towards the end I would let accounts bankrupt.

It took me about 1.5 hours. I played the odds, like for the paid 140 in utility bills. One of my controllers rolled a 12 and landed on my utility propery.

Paid the smallest rent in an online game

When playing online, make sure your opponent has Mediterranean Avenue and then aim to try to land on it so you end up paying him rent on it. Make sure they do not have any houses or hotels on it! After you do, the trophy will pop!

there is no such thing as Mediterranean Avenue, what is the real name on the default board? help please this is the last trophy we need to get for platinum!

we got it, the road is called "old kent road" on the default board! make sure the second player only has the old kent road card in their inventory you don't need to auction off each property that would take you forever just give the other player all of the properties apart from old kent road and just wait to get a monopoly and your trophy should pop up.

It's called Mediterranean Avenue in the US version of Monopoly (in both the video game and the real version of the game). It's called Old Kent Road in the UK Version of the board game. It's not wrong. You're just in a different country. Still, it might be useful to put that in as a side note.

The UK version has UK names, and the US version will have US names, obvious really :p

An edit to the trophy description wouldn't go amiss Oncefallen ;) Oh and for the Expensive Property trophy Boardwalk is called Mayfair I believe.

That's actually a pretty interesting fact... Never knew that they had different names for the properties in other countries. I will add a note to the trophy guide that it might be another name. Thanks for the information guys.
