mcnichoj
Modern Combat: Domination Trophy Guide Overview: + Estimated trophy difficulty: 4 + Offline: 15 (15 ) + Online: 5 (4 , 1 ) (Reaching level 7, 40 and 72. Unlocking the grenade launcher and snipers.) + Approximate time: 80+ hours + Glitched trophies: Multiple (Master of Mass Destruction is the main big one but a few others can get glitched too, I think this has to do with the PS3 console not saving properly as it does so after every round. Only solution as of now is to keep trying to meet the criteria for whatever trophy is glitched.) Intro: Welcome to the super fun world of Modern Combat, no this isn't the newest iteration to the Call of Duty franchise although it may look similar to it for you console exclusive players however for PC players they will immediately see this as a Counter Strike clone. Despite being like Counter Strike, it luckily for all of you isn't Counter Strike as that game has a pretty steep lurning curve and a crazy competetive community. Because this game isn't like the typical console FPS I think I should go over a few things that might confuse you at first. You have health in this game, it does not regenerate and their are no health packs. You do not make classes, you have to buy your weapons each time you respawn. You get money by killing your opponents, completing objectives and the game gives you a samll sum of money automatically at the end of each round regardless if your team won or lost. On the map specific modes you play in rounds and only have one life per round. If you die you sit out until the round is over via one of the teams winning or the round timer ends. You have three choices of armor, either a helmet, vest or both of them. Taking either one alone gives you 100 armor, the helmet lessens damage from headshots while body armor lessens damage from bodyshots. Dead players will drop whatever weapon they had equipped when they died and anyone can pick it up. Later when you can customize weapons, those customizations will save so every time you buy that weapon it will already be setup with whatever custom parts you put on it. Now on to the game modes, the three basic modes are Team Deathmatch where two teams (the Special Forces adn Mercenaries) go at each other to see which team gets the msot kills by either hitting the score limit or having time run out. Deathmatch, the same as Team Deathmatch except you have no team and it's every man for themself. Finally we have the mode this game was named after, Domination which is a territory based game mode where you have three capture points marked A, B and C around the map which you to cap and hold to build up time until you hit the score or time runs out. Now for the Map Specific game modes, you play these modes in rounds and only get one life per round as I mentioned before. Sandstorm and The Hideouts you have the Boom and Bust gametype which has one team defending two spots while the other team has to plant a device and protect it till the device timer (displayed in the upper left of the screen) runs outs, if the defending team fails to protect one of the defend spots and the enemy team arms the devise the defending team will still have one last chance to win by disarming the device before it goes off. A random player on the offensive team gets the device and if they are killed before they get to arm it then someone else on the offensive team can pick it up to have a chance at arming it. The maps Souks and Headquarters assigns one player on the offensive team as the leader and that person must make it to a exit location on the opposite side of the map to escape, the defending team needs to kill the leader or defend the exit and not allow him to escape, the leader gets 200 health and 200 armor along with the Desert Eagle. If the leader dies then the round is over. The final map Factory has it's own mode, in Extraction their is a brief case inside the factory which the Special Forces must pick up and bring back to either of the escape points back at their spawn. The Mercenaries that spawn inside the Factory must defend the brief case and make sure that the enemy team doesn't escape with it. Well I think that sums up things for anyone that may have been confused. (Hopefully you didn't just become more confused with that load of information, you should get the hang of it after a few games.) Road Map: Step 1: I guess to start off you should play a little online or off to get a feel for the game and in the process you should get Specialist, Welcome to the Family, The Ghost Avenger and War Veteran. Step 2: Now that you're getting the hang of things you should try going for the gametype trophies like Team Savior, Priceless and Hope Buster. Next should be Legendary Gunslinger if you haven't already unlocked it and this leaves Master of Mass Destruction as the next logical trophy to get. More trophies that should be obtained from natural play are Billy the Kid, Insane Sharpshooter, Stop Poking Me!, Death Bringer, Sergeant Major of the Army, Raining Shrapnel, Alexander the Great, Heavy Counter and Dominating. If you need help with anything thus far, the boosting topic can be found here: http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/modern-combat-domination/89507-trophy-boosting-thread.html#post1456616 Step 3: This only leaves two trophies left, Ultimate Team Player and what will most likely become infamous Supreme Commander. The Guide: Specialist Reach Level 7 Please see "Supreme Commander". Sergeant Major of the Army Reach Level 40 Please see "Supreme Commander". Master of Mass Destruction Win one match of each game type in every map This can either be online or offline, with offline being the fastest/most efficient way. Whichever way you do it, make sure to somehow record which maps and gametypes you have done, trust me as it will be a nightmare to try and figure out which one you're missing if you're only missing one. Here's a list you can print off/copy into a word document to keep track with. I suggest picking up all gametype related trophies (Alexander the Great, Team Savior, Dominating, Priceless and Hope Buster) as that will take off a few on this list and then you can just do the rest with the least amount of rounds. Sandstorm -Map Specific: Boom and Bust -Team Deathmatch -Deathmatch -Domination Souks -Map Specific: Escorting -Team Deathmatch -Deathmatch -Domination The Hideouts -Map Specific: Boom and Bust -Team Deathmatch -Deathmatch -Domination Headquarters -Map Specific: Escorting -Team Deathmatch -Deathmatch -Domination Factory -Map Specific: Extraction -Team Deathmatch -Deathmatch -Domination Raining Shrapnel Kill 4 enemies with a frag grenade thrown with the grenade launcher This trophy requires you to play online and level up to 23/24 and unlock the attachment for the AK-47/MN106, either gun costs 3000. You'll also need to buy a grenade, I suggest buying two and they're 300 a piece. Equip the attachment by pressing . Setup a game similar to Heavy Counter but instead of killing two people you need to kill four. Unlike the other trophy you only need to do this once and you must kill them ALL with the single grenade. Billy the Kid Make 100 head shots (any game type) This should come naturally after some time as you can get head shot kills with any gun. If you're having trouble you could get a sniper and try for one shot kills via aiming at the head. Bots like to stand around while achieveing objectives, something to keep in mind if all else fails. Alexander the Great Capture a total of 100 territories in Domination Please see "Dominating". Welcome to the Family Win a match (any game types) This should be one of your first trophies, I suggest playing a offline match with bots to get the hang of the game first. mcnichoj
The Ghost Avenger Take over a CPU and kill your assassin 10 times (offline only) This is the only trophy that MUST be done offline. I suggest you do this on Sandstorm/Boom and Bust/13 rounds/2v2. Don't buy anything, simply rush towards the enemy and let him kill you, then press to take control of the CP and kill the enemy that kileld you. Repeat ten times. Not that hard but then again it isn't that simple and you may need to try this over a few times. Insane Sharpshooter Eliminate 300 enemies only with sniper rifles (any game types) You unlock the first sniper called the Tactical Scout (which costs 4200) at level four and it's a pretty powerful gun. Level eight you unlock the Dradonitch (which costs 6000) which has an increased firerate and unlike other shooting games comes with next to no downside. See "Supreme Commander" if you still need kills. (I'm actually not sure if those are the right levels, I think they are but I can't remember.) Heavy Counter Perform a multi-kill with a grenade 3 times (any game types) This can be achieved a few ways. The apsolute best way is in a bot match on Domination 8v8. Camp a capture points, wait for atleast two enemies to start capping the point and then simply throw a gernade at them. The CPU won't run away while achieving an objective. A legitimate way is to play as Special Forces on Sandstorm/Boom and Bust with really low level people and to buy two frags. Now you can either sprint under the bridge at your spawn and lob two gernades up past the wall with the wooden plank blockade or you can sprint up the stairs and past teh doorway to be on top of the bridge and lob your two gernades over the wall with the wooden blockade. I find that running to the top of the bridge yielded more consistant results. Another way of doing it was incidently how I got my first grendae multi-kill, apparantly you don't need to kill multiple people with a single gernade but just kill atleast one person with a gernade while you get a multi-kill. So how it happened for me was I threw a gernade at one person and then started unloading my pistol on another and BAM that counted for the trophy. Reading the trophy description it makes sense but I bet no one would have figured that out without having someone actually having done it. Legendary Gunslinger Perform at least one killing spree on all maps This is a fairly easy one. I suggest you do this while you're also doing "Master of Mass Destruction" during the Team Deathmatch/Deathmatch portions on each map. Simply get five kills without dying. If your're having trouble then play online a bit and unlock some of the better guns for use. Team Savior As the Team Leader, escape 10 times This can be done on either of the Escorting maps. Start up either Souks/Mercenaries/13/2v2 or Headquarts/Special Forces/13/2v2 in an offline match, you'll always be givin leader so just make a bee line to the escape and repeat till you get the trophy. Ultimate Team Player Get 500 kill assists (any game types) This one is actually pretty hard in my opinion as you're more likely to just kill someone or get killed and have done no damage at all then get a little damage on them and have someone on your team kill them. Regardless if you have a hard time or not, please see "Supreme Commander" for help. Stop Poking Me! Successfully knife 50 enemies (any game types) Melee detection in this game is pretty bad. So you want to get enemies from behind, now you can either do this with real people camping a objective and you flank them or just by finding a bot walking about the map. Bots don't really sprint so they're easy to catch up to and they usually focus on objectives, so in a gametype like Domination they'll just stand on the capture point giving you a good time to run up and knife them. War Veteran Eliminate 100 enemies (any game types) Should come fairly early on. Death Bringer Eliminate 1000 enemies (any game types) Should come later on, see "Supreme Commander" for more info. Dominating Capture a total of 150 territories in Domination This can be done one of two ways, just normally playing online/offline or you can boost this with a friend in a private game. Start up a game on Domination, score set to the highest amount and have your friend join and make sure no bots are on. Now both of you meet up at one of the capture points and then have you start things off by capping it, now get off and let your friend cap it, fallowed by your friend getting off and then letting you recap it. See how this works? Takes about a little bit over an hour, so three matches. Priceless Head shot an objective carrier 10 times This can be done on either Sandstorm or The Hideouts during Boom and Bust or it can be done on Factory during Extraction. I suggest doing it on the Boom and Bust maps, so setup either Sandstorm/Special Forces/13/2v2 or The Hideouts/Mercenaries/13/2v2 in an offline match, and simply camp one of the objectives and wait till you see an enemy with a yellow arrow on the top of his head (as opposed to the standard enemy red one) and let them start to plant the bomb and they'll be completely immobile and unable to defend themself so just go for that headshot kill before they finish planting it and instead they'll drop it, ready for a team mate to pick it up and try replanting it so you can get another headshot. Now that's priceless. If you're having trouble getting a headshot with the standard guns, you should play online a bit and unlock the sniper. If you're trying to do it on Extracton then setup Factory/Mercenaries/13/2v2 and wait for the enemy to come inside the factory to pick up the briefcase and then kill them before they can get out with it and escape. Hope Buster Defuse a bomb or deactivate a missile 10 times Do the same thing as above for "Priceless" on either of the Bust and Boom maps but instead let them fully plant it and then kill the planter and then defuse the bomb. Be careful not to kill both players before the bomb is armed because the round will end, you can however wait for it to be armed and then kill them both. The round won't end until it either blows or is disarmed. Edited January 27, 2011 by mcnichoj
mcnichoj
Supreme Commander Reach Level 72 Here we go, the only non-bronze trophy in the game and this one is a doozy. It requires you to reach level 72 which very well may or may not be the level cap in the game. Now you should very well have all the other trophies by the time you try and strive for this one, so you should be fairly skilled in the game and I suppose one way of getting this would just by simply grinding it and playing a lot of online matches. Oh wait, we're on a trophy site so no one wants to do that so lets kick it up a notch. Search in ranked for some good 'ol Team Deathmatch (or whatever your preferred gametype is) on Headquarters (or whatever your preferred map is, I go into detail why I choose HQ) with the highest score and time possible, no map cycle with bots allowed. This usually forces you to make your own room and their is a very slim chance anyone will join. Everyone that has reported they used this method and including myself have never had anyone join. Rack up kills/money, buy good guns and rack up more kills/money and just keep on doing this till the match is over. I have been making around +30,000EXP each game. If anyone ever joins, just keep playing until the end of the match, then quit and go search for your preferred gametype/map. I assume because everyone is clicking the "Play Online Now" option and the matchmaking has the default map cycle as higher priority, so people are more likely to end up on maps like Sandstorm and Souks with Map Specific gametypes then they are to end up on the other maps with other gametypes. Now I bet your asking yourself some questions like "Well what does it matter if people join?" or "Well if map priority matters then why not play on the Factory instead?" Well the first one should be obvious as bots are usually easiar to kill then regular people and another thing that I'm about to go in to for that second question. Well if I'm right about the priority thing then yes I suppose Factory would be a better place, except that map doesn't have the great camping spot that Headquarters has. If you're a sniper or a more sneakier player then you may have noticed the spot on the roof, it has four giant windows you can break and you can shoot at all the players that go threw the lobby area with the metal detectors, back to why you want to play with bots it's because they rarely go up to this spot and even after you kill them while camping there they aren't real people so they won't care to go hunt you down. It's almost like shooting fish in a barrel, however due take care to watch the fire escape and the open door area as the bots do SOMETIMES come up. If no one is in the main lobby make sure to look on your radar and to go out on the fire escape and look over the parking lot for any potential victims. While you're here grinding it's a good idea to maybe pick up some kill assists for "Ultimate Team Player", once you buy the sniper go for body shots as it's 50/50 if they'll die or not and if they live just ignore them and let one of your CPU team mates finish them off. This searching method is very consistent, the map and mode I'll leave up to preference but I gave a pretty good reason why I like Headquarters. For a similar but different setup of this same method plus some EXP total/time insight please see this topic: http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/modern-combat-domination/90129-xp-grinding-methods.html Credits: tuffmuff, immikeulate and Hockeyman80. Dropeti for EXP topic. Thanks for all the help without you this guide wouldn't be half of what it is now. Tuffinz
You're probably still editing - but you need to fix the formatting. Your bronze, silver etc trophy icons aren't showing up properly. They require capital letters not lower case. In the meantime while the trophy tiles are being loaded you can put in the default trophy tile. Here it is: http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/703/ock.jpg See the links to the FAQs in my signature if you need more help.

I haven't got any sleep yet and I wasn't sure if it was lower or upper casing for the emote. No problem. Just make sure to get it squared away soon. If it's left in this state it will get locked. All of the changes that are needed are fairly easy. Another suggestions would be to separate the paragraphs in your intro. It's a bit hard to read. M-Easy
Its a good start to the guide I would chosen the route in the road map differently but here are a few pointers. 1st your "Heavy Counter" strategy is not very helpful. You can easily get it against bots. All you do is start a game of Domination in Sandstorm. Take letter "B" then go up the stairs behind you overlooking the courtyard. Hide up there until the bots come to take "B" back. Normally 3 or 4 will show up. Throw your grenade down at them boom easy multi-kill. Took me 2 games to get the trophy. For "Insane Sharpshooter" an easy way to get it if you suck at sniping (like I do) is to it against bots. Start an online Boom & Bust at Sandstorm. Put it to 13 rounds, whatever time limit (but not "any"), 8v8, etc. 8 out of 10 times the bots go to the same place. So from where you spawn go straight then left down the alley. Stop at the end of the alley (you should see a bottle sitting on a crate. Take cover behind this crate. The bots will then come around the corner trying to go through the hole in the wall attempting to arm the missile. Just kill them with your MP5. Its funny cause they keep coming into the hail of bullets to their death like zebras stampede across crocodile filled rivers to their death. Use the MP5 the 1st and/or second round(s) then buy the $6000 sniper rifle (the $4200 is worthless, simply terrible). Continue to massacre the bots until you get your 300 kills. This same strategy altered can also help you get "priceless" just shoot the yellow guy in the head & "Hope Buster" just leave the last guy alive to plant the bomb, kill him, defuse it. This is also a great way to boost your overall kill count and XP. I did this for a couple hours on & off and I'm already at level 15 and ranked 25th in the world lol. Lastly, you never really have to play against other players, you can do everything against the lowly bots. Here's how you create an online game with no other human players: - Go to play online; custom game. - Choose your game type and map. - Set the time limit to an odd time like 5:00 or 10:00 min. Never use the highest or lowest time limit because people search for those. - Choose whatever target score you like. - Turn friendly fire off - Turn auto map cycle off (unless your going for the mass destruction trophy). This way if someone joins your game they will be kicked after the game. - Number of players is your preference but 8v8 will be the norm. - Set CPU to allowed. 99% of the time with these settings I was able to create my own lobby and not be put into someones else's game or shown active lobbies. Only a few times did someone somehow join my game. Anyway those are my tips.
mcnichoj
Thanks for the tips immikeulate and Hockeyman80, not sure why I never thought of nading bots during Domination. I guess because when I was doing that game mode I was only trying to finish it as fast as possible and didn't even think about the grenade related trophy till later. Should be a pretty nifty trick with a 8v8 bot room when I go for the grenade launcher trophy. Yeah, I have to clean up the roadmap/intro which I'll do later. Did a minor fix to the overview.
