Intro

MLB The Show returns for another year as a PS3 exclusive. It has been considered the best Baseball game the past couple years and this year is no exception. It adds 3D support as well as Move support for the Home Run Derby.

Not returning from previous years is another difficult set of trophies. This year is much easier. This guide will help you to achieve as many, if not all, of the trophies for this game. If you're new to sports games it is important to note that gaining the trophies is not linear and there are multiple different ways you can earn many trophies. You can bounce around the trophy list and get them in any order. I have organized the guide by separating the different modes such as Co-op, online, season, etc.

Before you start, it's important to understand that sliders can be used and adjusted. A lot of trophies are made easier with specific slider adjustments. You can change the sliders within User settings in either the main menu or while in game.

To make your life easier, I recommend editing rosters first or downloading a roster from the Sports Connect roster vault I created called, "Cubs/Dodger/Yank Trophy". To do it yourself, edit the entire Chicago Cubs team. Give every player max hitting, fielding, speed, etc. This includes pitchers. Make them power hitters. Also edit the pitching stats for your starters and bullpen. Also, do the exact opposite for the LA Dodgers and NY Yankees. Once you have edited all three teams make sure you SAVE this roster. You will load up these roster settings for many of the trophies. You can create a different roster save that boosts the stats of the Yankees or Dodgers if you prefer using those teams.

Steps

Step 1 - Co-op: There are two coop trophies that can be done solo with two controllers or with a second player. They are Win a Co-op Game and Advanced Cooperation. It's possible to achieve both these trophies in one game solo.

Step 2 - Online Trophies: There are two trophies for weekly challenges the developers will put up. They can be done solo but require an online connected PS3 to access. This will require waiting up to two weeks to complete as there is one challenge per week. For the rest of the online trophies, this will require a grind and takes up most of the time towards platinum.

Step 3 - RttS: You will have to start two careers. One as a pitcher for Pitching Performance Evaluated and one as a position player for the batting trophy, Batting Performance Evaluated. The remaining RttS trophies can be done as either a pitcher or a position player.

Step 4 - Season: While going for Billy Goat Simulate every game except for the ones required on Mother's Day and Father's Day, Mamma's Boy and Daddy Long Legs.

Step 5 - Miscellaneous/Clean Up: for this step, just follow the guide and knock them out one at a time. They all require different conditions and slider adjustments. Several are Home Run related trophies where you need to hit an object. These can be done while in Home Run Derby (Move supported).

(P)TROPHY GUIDE(P)

CO-OP Trophies

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/18.jpg Cooperation http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Win a co-op game.

This can be done solo with two controllers. Turn on Throwing Decision and Fielding Decision. Also put Base running Decisions to Auto to make it easier. You can skip to the 9th inning and finish it from there.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/19.jpg Advanced Cooperation http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

With different users controlling the pitcher and fielders, complete a strike 'em out throw 'em out double play.

This genius method from TwiztidDGM will make this simple.

If anyone is having trouble with Advanced Cooperation I found a pretty easy way to do this. For starters you can use the "switch team" method to make it much easier. First get a runner to 3rd base with less than two outs. Controller 1 will probably be controlling your pitcher, and use Controller 2 to "switch teams" and now control the batter/baserunner. Pump a couple of pitches down the middle (without swinging, of course) to get an 0-2 count. Select your next pitch, but before you deliver it press :l2: on your second controller to have the runner on 3rd steal home. Deliver the pitch and take the called third strike. As soon as the catcher receives the ball go and "switch teams" again so that now you're controlling the catcher instead of the batter. The runner from third will be stealing and will run right into your catcher for an easy out at home and an easy co-op double play.

Online Trophies

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/23.jpg Have a CoW Man! http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Compete in the Challenge of the Week in back to back weeks.

Simply attempt the Challenge of the Week in two consecutive weeks. Placing in the top 33% for one of those weeks will also unlock Challenger.

All online trophies may require you to log out of SportsConnect and log back in for the trophy to pop.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/24.jpg Challenger http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png

Place in the top 33% in any single week of Challenge of the Week.

Each week, there will be a new Challenge that you can compete in. The first attempt at the challenge each week is free but costs money for additional attempts. 25 cents for one additional play, or $1 for five additional attempts.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/21.jpg Experienced http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Accumulate 100 XP across any online game modes.

Each game played will reward XP. The total points you win is determined by the rank of each player and the outcome of the game. The winner will be rewarded with 75% of the points with the loser getting 25% for completed games. If someone quits mid game, reduced points will be rewarded.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/22.jpg Seasoned http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png

Achieve an All-Star rank across all online game modes.

This will take between 20-50 games. Depending on how many you win. Just play ranked games and this will come. All Star rank requires 500 XP and at least a 20% win percentage. The following is available ranks and criteria:

Rookie 0 - 49 pts

Veteran 50 - 499 pts

All-Star 500 - 4999 pts, 20% win% or higher

Hall of Fame 5000 - 9999 pts, 50% win% or higher

Legend 10000+ pts, 75% win% or higher

RttS

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/15.jpg Batting Performance Evaluated http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png

As a Batter in RttS, have 3 or more 'Good' or better At Bats in a single game at the MLB Level.

There are a number things that factors into determining if the at bat was good or not, which include the amount of pitches during the at bat, the type of contact of the hit, and the overall result of the play. In general, the more pitches you see during the at bat, the better your chances are to receive a good result regardless if the at bat ended in a hit or not.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/16.jpg Pitching Performance Evaluated http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png

As a Pitcher in RttS, in a single game, face 6 or more consecutive batters achieving a 'Good' or better rating at the MLB Level.

The game tracks all of your strikes versus balls thrown, percentage of first pitch strikes, percentage you work ahead in the count, a breakdown of your pitch type tendencies, and finally your overall batter’s faced results. The trophy will pop after having six consecutive good or better ratings.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/17.jpg Peak Training http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_gold.png

In RTTS, reach level 5 in all training modes as a pitcher or a batter.

During a RttS career you have different training modes. Pitchers have four different trainings and batters have five. Each training mode has five levels. You only need to reach level five for all the trainings for either pitcher or batter, not both, and you do not have to complete the fifth level. Pitcher trainings are easier if you don't have any break in the pitches.

The Pitcher Training Modes:

knockout training

pitch location training

pitch type training

sim game training

The Batter Training Modes:

timing training

contact training

discipline training

recognition training

good at bat training

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/14.jpgThe Bacon http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

In RttS, earn more than $20,000,000 over the course of your career.

Increasing your stats with points will make you a better player. The better you are the more you'll earn. The fastest way to earn this is to simulate through multiple seasons stopping often to spend training points.

Season

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/30.jpg The Billy Goat http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

In Season or Franchise mode, win the World Series as the Cubs. Good luck, you're going to need it! Must be full 9 inning games, simulating of World Series games will invalidate the trophy.

Using an edited Cubs roster, simulate until the end of the season. If you made the playoffs save the season. Simulate each round of the playoffs saving after each round. If you fail to reach the playoffs or lose a playoff series just reload your previous save. Once you reach the World Series you have to start playing each game, but you can fast forward to the end.

During the season, consider playing both the Mother's Day and Father's Day games.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/26.jpg Momma's Boy http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

In any season mode, hit a Home Run on Mother's Day with a pink bat.

Start a season and simulate to Mother's Day, May 8th. The players will be using pink bats on that day. Adjust hitting sliders and simply hit a home run during this game.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/27.jpg Daddy Long Legs http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

In any season mode, hit a triple on Father's Day.

Simulate a season to June 19th. Upgrade your lineups run speed to max and decrease fielders Reaction, Speed, and Arm Strength. Most drives that reach the outfield wall will result in a triple, especially to right field.

If you're having trouble getting a triple, follow the guide for Insider.

Miscellaneous

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/02.jpg Dig that long ball http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

In any mode (excluding HRD) hit a Home Run with a pitcher.

Edit player rosters and give your starting pitcher max hitting stats. Also increase Human Contact, Power, Timing, and Solid Hits sliders.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/29.jpg Stone Hands http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Make 5 or more errors in a single game.

Under Gameplay Options in the menu, make sure you have Pure Analog selected for Throwing Interface and Analog Throwing Difficulty at Legend. Increase Throwing Error and Fielding Error sliders and you'll be prone to many errors. Also, pick off moves to first can get away creating an error. Late in the game, if you're short on errors try quick pick off attempts, :l2: and double tap :circle:

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/03.jpg Strong Arm http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Throw the ball into the stands when attempting to throw out a runner at 1st.

Under Gameplay Options in the menu, make sure you have Pure Analog selected for Throwing Interface and Analog Throwing Difficulty at Legend. Increase Throwing Error slider and you'll be prone to many throwing errors. Not all of them will reach the stands, but eventually it will.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/04.jpg Fill'er Up http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

After falling behind in the count 0-2 work back to a full count. Must be completed vs. the CPU with both pitching and batting set to All-Star or higher difficulty.

Reduce CPU Pitcher Control, Consistency, and Strike Frequency to the lowest value and increase Human Foul Frequency. Swing at the first two pitches and foul off any further strikes while hoping to make it back to a three ball, two strike count at which point the trophy will pop.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/06.jpg Sell Your Body http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Make a diving catch in foul territory for an out.

With a pop fly in foul territory, navigate a defender just outside the circle showing the location of the ball. Just as it's about to hit the ground dive towards the ball with :r2: or . It's more tricky than it sounds. Oakland has the most foul territory.

An alternate method is to have a player standing under the ball to make the catch and switch to a nearby player with :l2: and make a dive attempt at the ball with this second player. As soon as you dive with this second player quickly switch back to the original player and make the catch

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/11.jpg Patience... http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Draw a 4 pitch walk in any mode. Must be completed vs. the CPU on All-Star or higher difficulty.

Reduce CPU Pitcher Control, Consistency, and Strike Frequency to the lowest value. This may take some time, but eventually if you don't swing during an at bat, you'll get a four pitch walk.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/12.jpg Pesky... http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

In any single at bat, see 10 or more pitches. Must be completed vs. the CPU on All-Star or higher difficulty.

Increase Human Foul Frequency to help create foul balls that would otherwise end your at bat.

SamSanchez gives us this easier method. If you have two controllers you can pitch to yourself. Set your hitting control to timing to make it easier. Guess pitch and location then have the pitcher throw that pitch. Throw 6 strikes making sure to foul off all of them after you reach 2 strikes. Then throw 3 straight pitch outs for balls. Now that you're at 9 pitches, give control of the pitcher back to the CPU to throw you the 10th and final pitch.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/13.jpg Lean On Me http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Pick off the CPU runner on 1st.

As a pitcher, walk the lead off batter intentionally. Pause the game and switch teams. You will now be controlling the runner at first. Press :l1: a couple times to take a larger lead. Once you have done that, quickly switch teams again before the CPU has a chance to pick you off. Then as the pitcher, quickly select a pitch and the pitcher will come to a resting position then hit :l2: + double tapping :circle: for a quick move attempt to first base.

Win a game on an error.

Using two controllers, play 1 inning games against yourself. For the away team, set throwing to analog and set it to legend. Increase the fielding and throwing error sliders. Get a guy on second base and bunt the ball. There is a great chance you will throw the ball away.

Thanks SNAKE_7.

If you only have one controller, It can be done differently. You will need to increase Throwing Error and Fielding Error sliders to max. Edit an opposing team's infield to have horrible fielding stats. Play as the home team. There's a chance of the fielder throwing the ball away on a bunt attempt. I used the Dodgers edited team needed for Beat LA and they threw the ball away regularly in an Exhibition game. You can't skip or fast forward.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/31.jpg Splash Down II http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Hit a Home Run into the hot tub in Chase field.

Chase Field, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks, has a hot tub located in right center field 415ft from home plate. Home Run Derby is the best mode for this and the other Home Run related trophies.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/32.jpg Swim With The Fishes http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Hit a Home Run into the Ray's aquarium.

This is located just to the right of the batter's eye in deep center field. This will take a little more accuracy but needing only 409 feet.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/33.jpg Stay on Target http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

At Target Field, land your foul ball or tailing Home Run on the Target sign down the right field line.

Keep pulling the ball down the right field line and you'll get this. You may not ever see the target, but just pull the ball with a left handed batter.

Home run at 2:39 somehow bounced to the target

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/34.jpg Ice Cold http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Hit a Home Run to dead center in Coors Field.

Grab your favorite power hitter and aim dead center for this easy to get trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/36.jpg Day at the Beach http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Hit a Home Run into the sand at Petco Park.

A well hidden "beach" is located in right center field between the blue batter's eye wall and the blue Padre's sign in right field in front of the bleachers. Found by Veritas7Ax.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/35.jpg Salute the Troops http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Win a game using the Padres while wearing Camo Jerseys.

The Padres wear the camouflage uniforms every Sunday home game. They also wear them for Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day regardless of whether they are the home or away team.

You only need to select the H-Alternate uniform on any day of the year, or during an exhibition. You must play the full 9 inning game without skipping any part of it

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/07.jpg Running Down a Dream http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png

In a single game, steal 3rd twice. Must be completed vs. the CPU.

An easy silver trophy. Take an edited team of your choice with max running speed and increase the Baserunning Steal Ability and Baserunner Speed. Lower CPU Pickoffs and you'll have this very quickly.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/05.jpg Insider http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_gold.png

In any mode get an inside the park Home Run. Must be completed vs. the CPU.

*thanks Reys813fan for the following tip*

While at bat, knock a line drive to the outfield and quickly hit start and change teams. You will now control the defender and using :r2: you can dive and miss the ball. Quickly switch back teams and you should get an inside the park home run. Play in a park with a deep outfield like Polo Grounds, Fenway Park, or Minute Maid Park.

Beat LA and Yankees 'Inhale Deeply Through The Mouth' can not be unlocked if you switch teams.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/08.jpg Psychic http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_gold.png

With Guess Pitch on, in any mode, correctly guess 10 pitches in a row (Location OR Pitch) vs. the CPU on All-Star or higher difficulty.

While at bat, while pressing :r2:, You can use the :ls: to guess a location in the strike zone and a corresponding pitch type with buttons. You have to guess either 10 pitch locations, or 10 pitch types in a row, not a combination of both. The fewer the pitches a pitcher has the easier this is.

The favorite choice is facing Tim Wakefield, a reliever from the Red Sox. Reduce him to three pitches and lower the stats of his second and third pitch. He will throw the Knuckleball 90% of the time. Start an exhibition and pick him as the starter for the Red Sox.

Don't swing at any pitches or he'll start mixing in other pitches.

*Big win to flushpockets for discovering Tim Wakefield.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/09.jpg Beat LA http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_gold.png

Beat the Dodgers. Must be completed vs. the CPU with both pitching and batting set to Legend. RttS excluded.

I suggest using the edited Cubs team used for Billy Goat. Also edit the Dodgers roster to have the worst stats. Adjust all game sliders to your favor. This includes increasing Human hitting sliders, and decreasing CPU hitting sliders. Stay away from global sliders that effect both teams. Make sure you are playing on Legend for both pitching and batting. A One inning game won't work.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/10.jpg Yankees 'Inhale Deeply Through The Mouth'! http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_gold.png

Beat the Yankees. Must be completed vs. the CPU with both pitching and batting set to Legend. RttS excluded.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/20.jpg Today... I am the greatest http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_gold.png

In any mode, with any single player, accumulate 130 or more stolen bases in a single Season.

The quickest way to get this trophy doesn't require you to play a single game. Edit a team's lead off hitter for max stats, EXCEPT power. Move power to it's lowest value. Lower the team's 7-9 hitters stats. The idea is to give the lead off hitter the most opportunities to be standing on first base with no one on second.

Start a season with you new roster. Simulate one week of games then check your stolen bases stats. If you get 6 or more stolen bases save your season. Continue week to week simulating your games if you didn't get an additional 6 stolen bases that week reload your previously saved season. In a 23 week baseball season, averaging 6 stolen bases will unlock this trophy. If it doesn't pop after reaching 130, manually steal one base.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/a3d.jpg Tough Loss (B)(H)

As the away team, take a shutout into the bottom of the 9th and lose the game. Must be completed vs. the CPU.

This secret trophy requires you to play as the away team and not give up a single run. Play with the easiest settings for pitching and adjust sliders to your favor. While at bat, just quickly try to get out. In the bottom of the 9th, just intentionally walk every batter with :l1: + :circle: Score can't be tied. Head into the 9th with 1 run lead.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/881/01.jpg 100% Clear http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_platinum.png

This is the platinum trophy and is unlocked automatically when all trophies have been unlocked.

Congratulations if you've achieved this trophy.

Completed.

As with most MLB The Show trophies in the past, there are multiple methods to get the same trophy. If someone has a better method, please post it or PM me. I'll give the appropriate credit to anyone who finds a better method than I have posted.

Do you have an early copy of the game?

Not personally, but Target accidentally started selling them last Monday in their clearance bins for $30 and a co-worker scored one. I think they mistakingly thought they were MLB 10. So I've spent some time over there but sadly didn't get to play online which is why the Online section is a little weak. I don't know if you can boost the online, but I'm not taking my chances after what they did last year in banning people.

A tip I posted in the initial trophy thread (looks like most of the team editing ones are already in the guide):

Psychic should be automatic if you edit the opposing pitcher to only have one pitch.

And a couple more I thought of:

For Strong Arm playing in a park with very little foul territory and dugouts that don't extend to far down the line will make it much easier. PNC Park, Fenway, and AT&T Park come to mind.

The exact opposite for Sell Your Body. Play in Oakland. With all that HUGE foul ground it should be really easy to get this trophy.

Thanks for pointing out those tips. The two times I saw the ball fly into the crowd I believe would have done so in any stadium, but if this increases the odds, I'm all for it. Oakland does have a lot of foul territory but with the high number of pop outs around home plate it shouldn't matter.

I'll have to try editing the pitcher to confirm it tomorrow when I get to play again.

for the guess ten pitches correctly couldnt u edit a pitchers stat give him just fastballs than play them and guess fastball every time that should work and is much easier than in ur guide :D

When you create a new player or edit an existing player, you can only eliminate the fourth and fifth pitch. You will have a minimum of three. The best you can do is edit the second and third to horrible stats that he'll primarily throw the first one, but you'll still have to rely on a little luck.

Day at the BeachHit a Home Run into the sand at Petco Park.

Need help with this. I unlocked it after hitting it near a bush in center field, could have been a delay unlock. Exact location unknown.

As posted above me I got this trophy by hitting the palm trees in right center field with Jim Thome. And as I currently live in San Diego I can confirm that there is a make-shift beach in that area in real life.
