Guys I'm not here to start a flame war or anything (maybe a Rant more like it). I admit I really do suck at this game and I hate this game. I don't know, this game ... it's either you love it or hate it. I for one repeat, that I hate this game.

I struggled in chapter 2. My god, that big hole that you climb in and out of. I died so many times, because of silly mistakes. I don't even want to know what's ahead.

Although this game tries to be fresh and tries to be different from games such as Assassin's Creed, Uncharted and Prince of Persia, I feel that by making it first person it doesn't work that well and I cannot get into it. Yeah I know people will shoot me for saying that, because the game design is meant to be realistic and that if you were really doing parkour then that's what it feels like and you're seeing through their eyes (blah blah). Well Bullsh*t to that! You're playing with a controller, hell if in the future a powerful wii-like system is able to grant movement such as jumping and rolling around in your room then I would say it is trying to be very realistic.

Sure the concept is clever, but it just doesn't seem to work for me. But it is pretty cool when you can flow all the movements together. The movements too don't feel right, how if you just jump a tad to the left on a ledge, you practically missed the entire ledge and fall to your death. It's so frustrating when you are flowing your movements so beautifully until what tad mistake like jumping to the left a bit. It's like having sex just when you're about to reach climax and you're partner rips out the biggest fart. That momentum of reaching climax is gone.

But watching speed runs (is like watching porno), I would say that people who have done them or platted the game. I am truly impressed. I was hoping that's how I would be playing but no... I suck too much and the game is to hard/annoying for me. I wonder how many times it took for them to perfect their speed runs. Cause there are no room for errors... at all.

The story line is pretty dull to be honest which also goes with the presentation. There were practically three main colours red, blue and white. Sure it is meant to fit in with story about the government being a total control freak. But hey Metal Gear Solid had a government like that, their world still looked ... cooler.

Anyways, I just wanted to know who really likes this game and why? And who doesn't like it, why also.

oh yeah how many goes did it take for you guys to complete your speed runs?

I liked it, and it was worth the $19.99. Wouldn't say I loved it, though.

-Trial and error gameplay was frustrating.

-Shooting/combat was barely passable.

-Story was thin.

-Graphics were totally jaggy-ridden.

-Faith just doesn't control as reliably as she should.

-The constant use of elevators to disguise loading really messed with the pace.

That said, I've never seen better movement in a first-person game, and the originality of the experience was refreshing enough that I'd purchase a sequel.

Really, I found the majority of the speed runs provide you more than enough margin for error. A few are pretty tight, but you can die 2-3 times and still go under the target time on most of them. Just play the level once or twice and perfect all the minimally-dangerous shortcuts, then go for it. Don't remember needing more than a few tries, usually.

I loved it for it's gameplay, the speedruns and the Time Trials. Yes, some of them were pretty hard, but never unfair or impossible.

I got the plat once I set my mind to get into the Time Trials and Speedruns, and it never took me more than 6 tries to complete one, in fact, the only one that took 6 tries was chapter 9, all the others where done in 1-3 tries.

I propably would hate the storyline though, if the game would have had one. That's the part they have to improve the most if they want to publish ME 2. They really need to give this game some sort of story that's not totally dumb.

As absolutely frustrating and controller-throwing as the gameplay can be, I would have to say I loved this game when I think back on it. The only major thing that I thought was bad was the poor story. The controls can be a pain at times, yes, but once you get used to them and figure out some advanced techniques it's fun to fluidly move from one thing to another.

That said, I still have some speedruns to do for the platinum. 50 stars on the time trials took a bit out of me and I had to take a break from it. I'm thinking about picking it back up here in the coming weeks.

Really hope there's a sequel with improved controls and a better (and longer) story.

I loved this game. I definately think it's worth my $20 investment. The graphics, environments, music etc. were just amazing imo. The music really trips me out. Really makes me think in a very cool way . I do admit this was a hair pulling, glass breaking (metaphorically speaking, I didn't break nothing which took a lot to do while getting this (P)), sanity breaking (P), but once I got it I felt like a pro :D and very proud of myself for trying and trying until I got this beautiful (P) It's just the speedruns and time trials that will give you problems, but the other trophies are relatively easy.

  • 3 weeks later...

Currently I hate it. I've recently Platinumed Modern Warfare 2 & Batman Arkham Asylum and then moved on....to this. Playing 2 extremely well polished games and then playing this, is a bit like sleeping with Beyoncé, then Rhianna and then moving onto Britney Spears....when she had no hair. You know you've had better.

Maybe if I'd played it when it came out I could've forgotten the crap story, ignored the lazy flash animated cut scenes, forgiven the twitchy controls, accepted the lame combat system, imagined extra colours and fully enjoyed the ability to 'free run'. Maybe I could've....but I doubt I would've.

The concept of free running in a game is great, but I think EA/Dice executed it poorly. I would much rather have played an exagerated Sport Sim, ala Tony Hawk or Motorstorm PR. Pulling off stunts and building up combos would've thrilled me more than dodging bullets and clumsily disarming 'Blues'.

Hated it. Controls were pretty hard to get used to. Even at the end of all my playthroughs and speed runs, its still feels odd. I just couldnt adjust to it. Story was pretty lame. Left alot of loose ends. (Celeste, anyone?). The only thing I pretty much like about it was the soundtrack. Loved most of the music throughout the game and especially the theme song.
