Section 02. Introduction

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD is an upscale from the game that came out in 2010 on the PSP. Peace Walker HD is also only available on the NA and EU version of the game, the JP version came with the original Metal Gear Solid instead. Being a port of a PSP game there are a number of things that are different from the main Metal Gear Solid games. The two big ones are the controls are slightly different and the other is that the entire game is open ended and mission based. Earning the platinum trophy isn't difficult but will require dedication and a time commitment.

Section 2.1 - What you need to know

You will need to collect staff for your base with high ranking skills. They are paramount to earning your platinum as they allow the creation of gear and will perform combat in the OUTER OPS. The most frustrating part of this is to get the highest ranking staff you'll need to complete some of the most difficult missions (5 red skulls), these missions will also be required to obtain the gear that's paramount to earning all S Ranks. Lastly you can play through most of the missions (MAIN/EXTRA OPS) with up to 3 other people to gain camaraderie, however doing so will make the missions more difficult with each partner you bring in.

There are missions where you may be tasked to perform specific actions to advance either the plot or a special scene of the game. These missions allow you to play as a random recruit, but require you to be playing as Snake to get the appropriate scene.

Snake Required Missions

[spoiler=SnakeM]

EXTRA OPS 001 - Finding Zadornov for the 7th time.

EXTRA OPS 029 - Finding the cat to unlock the Monster Hunter Missions.

WARNING: For you veterans out there who played a lot or even mastered this game on the PSP I have some bad news for you. You may have noticed the game will let you transfer data from your PSP; you cannot earn trophies on a file you started on your PSP. You can start a file on the PS3 and transfer it to the PSP, then transfer the file back and earn trophies for whatever actions you performed on the PSP. However there is a chance the game may not give you the trophies for your actions on the PSP, so I would advise to play the game in its entirety on the PS3.

Section 03. Walkthrough

The way this game is setup there is no real way to do a walkthrough. Once you clear all the MAIN OPS there's only the OUTER OPS and EXTRA OPS. Both mission sets unlock as you progress through the MAIN OPS and their own separate missions but unlike the MAIN OPS they do not unlock in numerical order. The biggest problem is the game requiring you to go through some of the toughest fights with less than ideal gear.

Section 3.1 - MAIN OPS / Initial Playthrough

This will be going through the MAIN OPS and whatever EXTRA OPS you feel like doing. You'll have a few vehicle battles and fight the first incarnation of all the AI weapons and finish up the story. This is only the beginning of your road to the platinum. You can play most of the missions online to get a jump start on the trophy that requires gaining camaraderie.

(B) A Country Without An Army

(B) The Phantom Hero

(B) A Nation Reborn

(B) The Illusion of Peace

(B) Outer Heaven

(B) Launched ZEKE

(B) Basilisk Eater

Section 3.2 - EXTRA OPS / Force Build Up

This will be going through the EXTRA OPS and bolstering your forces. You'll need to start working on the EXTRA OPS and collecting talented staff members; you should also have strong enough staff to start working on the OUTER OPS missions as well. This is where most of your time will be spent, grinding missions over and over to get staff and going through all the missions to unlock the gear you will need to make the S Rank on missions. Keep in mind you can work together with a partner through co-op to gain camaraderie as you do this.

S-Rank Staff

[spoiler=SStaff]

Combat Staff - A/S-Rank can be fultoned in the 5-red skull vehicle missions as well as the Recruit Option.

R&D Staff - In EXTRA OPS 049 there are 3 POW's, two of them are A/S-ranked.

Mess Hall - In the first area of EXTRA OPS 046 is an S-Ranked guard.

Medicine - In EXTRA OPS 050 you will have to cross a bridge, one of the guards on this bridge is A/S-ranked.

Intel - In EXTRA OPS 049 there are 3 POW's, one of them is A/S-ranked. If you have the Tanegashima, Fulton Launcher or Fulton Mine you can also get S-Ranked snipers in the missions "Rescue Chico", "Pursue the jungle train" and "Destroy the barricade."

Section 3.3 - MAIN/EXTRA OPS S-Rank

This will be the result of all the effort you put into the previous step. When you have the sufficient gear and skill you'll want to S-Rank all 32 MAIN OPS and all 128 EXTRA OPS. When this is over you'll be almost done and with most of the game behind you. You can also team up for these trophies to work towards your camaraderie score, just remember it will make the mission harder.

Trophies Earned

(B) Paz Mania

(B) Kaz Mania

(B) Costume Collector

(B) MAIN OPS All Rank A

(B) EXTRA OPS All Cleared

(B) EXTRA OPS All Rank A

(S) MAIN OPS All Rank S

(S) EXTRA OPS All Rank S

(G) Big Boss

Section 3.4 - Online Trophies

Earning the few online trophies will not take long compared to the time you spent building your forces. The longest will just be earning 20,000 camaraderie if you have yet to do it while playing the missions.

Trophies Earned

(B) Trader

(B) VERSUS OPS All Rules

(G) Vic Vos

Section 3.5 - Cleanup

If there's anything you missed or still need to accomplish now is the time to do it. By the time you earn an S-Rank in all the missions there isn't much to do and so any cleanup you may need to do should be short. If there's nothing to clean up then you'll have a new shiny platinum in your collection.

[spoiler=OuterHeaven]

Reaching the Metal Gear ZEKE battle may be confusing for some. After clearing Chapter 4 you're in Chapter 5 but the game is very tight lipped about how to proceed. So here is a list of things to do to progress the storyline.

#1. Complete EXTRA OPS missions until Kaz tells you that Zardonov has escaped. You will now have a MAIN OPS mission to go recapture Zadornov. This will happen 6 times, yes Zadornov will escape and you will have to recapture him 6 times.

#2. You will have to have a second plant on your base. To get another plant you should have an Intel level of 40. Once you have the appropriate level completing a dozen missions or so should get another plant built.

#3. You'll have to get all parts on Metal Gear ZEKE, which is a requirement for the trophy Launched ZEKE.

#4. With a completed Metal Gear ZEKE go complete more mission until Zadornov escape for his seventh time. However this time there is no MAIN OPS mission to go recapture him. Head to EXTRA OPS 001 and when you enter the area you'll hear Zadornov laugh. Go up to the second level and search for him; after finding him you'll unlock the MAIN OPS mission Metal Gear ZEKE Battle.

When Zadornov has escaped for the seventh time you must go to EXTRA OPS 001 as Snake. You also must not have Metal Gear ZEKE deployed on any OUTER OPS.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/08.jpgMAIN OPS All Rank A (B)

Cleared all MAIN OPS at Rank A or higher.

See

S-Rank Guide for details.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/10.jpgEXTA OPS All Cleared (B)

Cleared all EXTRA OPS missions.

This trophy requires you to clear all 128 EXTRA OPS missions. You can mix solo and co-op play as long as you clear every mission, your ending rank doesn't matter either.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/11.jpgEXTA OPS All Rank A (B)

Cleared all EXTRA OPS missions at Rank A or higher.

This trophy requires you to clear all 128 EXTRA OPS missions with an A or S rank. You can mix solo and co-op play as long as you clear every mission with an A or S rank.

See S-Rank Guide for details.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/16.jpgFulton Recovery Veteran (B)

Reached 300 Fulton recoveries.

This trophy requires you to recover 300 enemy soldiers with any Fulton recovery gear; Fulton Recovery, Fulton Recovery Mine or C.Gustav (FR). The game only remembers recoveries made after a completed mission, any recoveries made in a mission you fail do not count. Simply keep using the recovery system on enemy soldiers and this trophy will pop after you extracted enough enemies.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/17.jpgHold-Up Artist (B)

Reached 100 hold-ups.

This trophy requires you to hold-up 100 enemy soldiers. To hold up an enemy soldier sneak up on them from behind and hold

:l1: when you get close; Snake will say "Freeze!" and the enemy will lie down on the ground. From here you can loot them for items/ammo or use the Fulton recovery system. The game only remembers hold-ups made after a completed mission, any hold-ups made in a mission you fail do not count. You cannot hold up an enemy during an ALERT phase, upon being discovered in a vehicle mission or at all in a strictly combat mission.

This trophy requires you to kill 100 enemies. Simply use any lethal weapon and kill enemies until you've killed 100 of them. The game only remembers kills made after a completed mission, any kills made in a mission you fail do not count.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/19.jpgStun Specialist (B)

Reached at least 100 stun attacks or sleep-inducing attacks.

This trophy requires you to knock an enemy unconscious or put them to sleep. You can use CQC, Stun Rod, Mk. 22, Moisin Nagant, Sleep Grenades or the Fulton Mine. Reach a total of 100 enemies you've knocked out or put to sleep to earn this trophy. The game only remembers unconscious enemies made after a completed mission, any unconscious enemies made in a mission you fail do not count.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/23.jpgMech Catcher (B)

Captured a mech.

There are 4 types of mechs in the game; LAV, BTR, Tank and Helicopter. All you need to do is capture one but it's a bit trickier then it sounds. Instead of going into it in detail here, please check the S-Rank Guide for specific details.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/22.jpgHideo Kojima (B)

Recruited Hideo Kojima

This must be done in the MAIN OPS mission Infiltrate Crater Base. On the last part of the mission you'll have to search various trucks. Search the truck with the license plate 63824 and you'll find Hideo Kojima. You'll earn this trophy at the end of the mission.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/27.jpgPaz's Thoughts (B)

Read all of Paz's diary.

Paz has 10 diary entries to read through and you can only get them from fighting the AI Weapons second and third incarnations (EXTRA OPS 112 - 119). When you're in the AI pod and removing memory boards and moving between the four rows you may see :triangle: appear at the bottom of the screen for a moment. Press :triangle: to obtain a tape of Paz's diary, do this 10 times in any AI fight to collect all her diaries. After collecting 10 of them go into a mission briefing and go to the additional information to find Paz's diary. Listen (or scroll through) all 10 of her diary entries to earn this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/28.jpgHuey's Thoughts (B)

Read Huey's love letter.

Huey gives you his love letter in Chapter 4. You can read it by selecting the Other tab under the R&D option at Mother Base. It's simply labeled as "Letter," press :triangle: to read it and earn this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/29.jpgStrangelove's Thoughts (B)

Read all of Strangelove's memoirs.

Strangelove has 3 memoirs that are easy to collect. After clearing Chapter 5 go back to any of the first incarnations of the AI weapons. When you're in the AI pod and moving between the columns of memory boards you may see a :triangle: appear at the bottom of the screen for a moment. Press :triangle: to obtain a tape of Strangelove's memoirs, do this 3 times in any first level AI fight to collect her memoirs. After collecting all 3 of them go into a mission briefing and go to the additional information to find her memoirs. Listen (or scroll through) all 3 of her memoir entries to earn this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/30.jpgMonster Hunter (B)

Cleared all hunting quests.

There are 8 hunting quests (EXTRA OPS 121 - 128) that need to be cleared for this trophy. To unlock these missions you need to be at the end of Chapter 4 and in the missions briefing menu listen to all of Chico's tapes (or you can scroll through them). After listening to all his tapes go to EXTRA OPS 029; after blowing up the target and collecting the items go to Playa del Alba approach the cat in the boat at the end of the dock. At the end of the conversation you will unlock EXTRA OPS 121, clear each hunter mission to unlock the next one. Clear all 8 hunter missions to earn this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/31.jpgCQC Six Shot (B)

Performed CQC six times in a row.

To get this trophy you must do a continuous string of 6 CQC attacks. In EXTRA OPS 024 you'll have to defeat 15 enemy soldiers. The first three should be taken care of easily, now from where you started turn around and jump down to the ground. The next 6 enemies will come from the big tunnel. Don't get too close otherwise some of the enemies will run back across the area of operations line which will make them unavailable to hit. While the enemies are still grouped up use the CQC throw and tap :r1: to do a continuous string of attacks. If you fail on the first group, the next group of 6 enemies spawn where the first 3 spawned so you can try on them without restarting the mission. This can also be done through the Recruit option from Mother Base, you will need to play online with several people to have 6 enemies in a single recruitment mission.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/33.jpgLeap of Faith (B)

Performed a Leap of Faith.

To get this trophy go to MAIN OPS "Travel to the Mine Base." The biggest building near the exit of this area has a bale of hay at near one side of it. Climb to the top of the building and find the pile of bird poop (it's a white splotch). Stand in the bird poop and Kaz will mention assassins and you'll be prompted to dive into the hay. Press :triangle: to jump into the hay bale to get the Assassin's Box and this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/35.jpgI feel... safe (B)

Wearing a cardboard box gives you that feeling of inner peace.

There are various versions of boxes in the game. Go into any mission and equip one of the boxes and don't move to earn this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/36.jpgIndirect Attack (B)

Attacked enemy soldiers by blowing up an oil drum or truck (single player only).

In various missions there are oil drums and vehicles you can shoot to blow up. This trophy is made very easy by EXTRA OPS 056. In this op you need to kill 5 enemies with one bullet by shooting an explosive barrel. Killing just one of them with the explosive barrel is enough to earn this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/39.jpgOUTER OPS Sortie (B)

Carried out a mission in OUTER OPS.

You'll have to play a few MAIN OPS missions to unlock the OUTER OPS option in Mother Base. Once it opens up you can send up to 8 staff of your combat unit into a battle. Once you make the squad and commit them to the mission, go complete your own mission. After your mission go back to OUTER OPS to receive the debrief of your unit and earn this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/43.jpgPaz Mania (B)

Obtained Rank S on a date with Paz.

This is EXTRA OPS 067 and becomes available near the end of Chapter 5. This mission is easy but requires a good amount of preparation. This mission doesn't require much except the "Tuxedo" uniform and "Love Box" item. In the mission preparation screen you'll need to change your co-op messages to affirming phrases. Once the mission starts stand near Paz and throw out one of the co-op messages. If you see a heart appear over her head it means her affection is growing; each heart raises her affection by 10. You have to wait between phrases for the next one to work on her. Each positive phrase can be used twice to raise her affection. You can also use the Walkman to raise her affinity by playing the song "Koi No Yokushi Ryoku." Another way to raise Paz's affection is to use the camera and take pictures of her in different poses. Once her affinity reaches 200 equip the love box and stand near her, Paz will then join Snake under the box and the mission will end. As long as her affinity reached 200 you'll earn an S Rank and this trophy.

Positive phrases

[spoiler=PazMania]

I'm with ya.

Follow me!

Peace!

Good!

Impressive.

Good to have you.

Good luck.

Thanks.

Sorry...I just...

Nice one!

I knew you had it in you!!

Not bad!

Kept you waiting, huh?

Don't die on me.

I like it!

You can do this

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/44.jpgKaz Mania (B)

Obtained Rank S on a date with Kaz.

This is EXTRA OPS 068 and becomes available after clearing EXTRA OPS 119. The preparation for this mission is exactly the same as the date with Paz. Kaz doesn't respond to all of the same phrases Paz does, but he doesn't require as much affection as she does. On top of positive phrases you can raise his affection by CQC throwing him. Once you've raised his affection to 100, equip the love box and stand next to him until he joins you to finish the mission. As long as his affection is at 100 you'll earn an S rank on this mission.

See Paz Mania for positive phrases.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/45.jpgThat Looks Tasty! (B)

Nicely cooked a ration.

This can be done in EXTA OPS 64 and 121 - 126. During the mission, approach the fire pit with a ration equipped and press :triangle: to sit down at the fire. Snake will put a ration on the spit and cook it. The moment it turn brown, press :triangle: to get a Well Done Ration and this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/48.jpgDivine Wind (B)

Collected a soldier using a divine wind.

This can only be done with the Tanegashima Musket. To get this weapon you must get the item Rathalos Wing from EXTRA OPS 121 or 122. This item is a very rare drop and it may take you a lot of mission clears to get it. Now with the Rathalos Wing you need a member of your R&D team to have the Japanese Patriot skill. You can find an A Rank R&D POW with this skill in EXTRA OPS 049. With both of these you can research the Tanegashima. When it's finally made go into a mission and use it to shoot enemies. Eventually it will hit an enemy with a whirlwind that will automatically fulton recovery them and give you this trophy.

There is a way to increase the odds at which the Wing drops, but it still may take multiple runs to see the item drop. First you must fight Rathalos on his second level EXTRA OPS 122. You must destroy both wings, his head and his tail. You must also use a non-lethal kill against him. The tail drop base is about 3% and doing all the above should raise it to almost 30%. This trophy can also be earned by borrowing the rifle off a co-op partner in a mission.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/14.jpgYou have far too many Game Overs (B)(H)

Reached 50 or more game overs.

This is easy enough to pull off. Simply fail missions and reach the game over screen 50 times. Do this by getting killed or failing specific mission objectives. This trophy will pop at the Game Over screen.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/15.jpgDon't you have anything else to do with your time? (B)(H)

Rolled 100 times or more in a single mission.

This is as simple as it sounds. Select any mission and perform a roll 100 times in a single mission to earn this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/26.jpgKuwabara, Kuwabara (B)(H)

Heard a ghost on the radio.

This can only be done on EXTRA OPS 062. Go to the first item and standing near the ghost, use your codec until you hear a ghastly message and this trophy will pop. This can only be done at the first ghost in the mission, none of the other ghosts will be heard.

Note: This ghost is also required to get the Neo Moss uniform. Keep using the Codec until you hear the message "This is The End." Now finish the mission to earn the uniform.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/32.jpgI'm dead serious (B)(H)

Threw a chaff grenade at ZEKE (single player only).

This can only be done in the MAIN OPS mission Metal Gear ZEKE Battle. Be sure your ZEKE has the Radome attached and you have chaff grenades in your equipment before you begin this mission. Once the mission starts, throw a grenade at it to earn this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/34.jpgYou're pretty good (B)(H)

Shot enemy right in the middle of the rear end.

This is an easy trophy to pull off. Get behind an enemy and aim directly between the pockets on their pants and shoot. You'll know you hit the proper area if you score a critical hit on them; lethal weapons and non-lethals will put them down in one hit.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/37.jpgLaunched ZEKE (B)(H)

Complete Metal Gear ZEKE.

This trophy may take a while to earn. To complete ZEKE you need to equip the 4 main parts and the 4 optional parts of ZEKE. Then go into a mission and afterwards you should get a message from Huey who will say ZEKE is complete and you'll earn this trophy.

ZEKE Parts

[spoiler=ZEKE]

To get the four main parts you'll need to fight the AI weapons until you get enough scrap to craft all four parts.

Three of the four AI weapons carry the optional parts you'll need. If you damage the parts too much you'll lose your chance of getting them at the end of the battle. Focus on shooting the AI pod to destroy the weapon. The part drops are not guaranteed either, you may need to replay the missions multiple times to get the parts.

The Jet Pack is dropped by the Pupa AI; do not shoot the engines on the sides of the weapon.

The Radome and Railgun are dropped by the Chrysalis AI; do not shoot the Radome or Railgun.

The Armor is dropped by the Cocoon AI; just focus on shooting the AI pod.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/20.jpgCostume Collector (B)

Obtained every costume.

To earn this trophy you will need to collect every uniform in the game. Some are awarded for completing missions, S-Ranking missions or finding the uniform in a mission. The game doesn't record you finding the uniform until you've completed the mission you earned it in. You will earn this trophy at the mission results screen.

Sent an item using Delivery.

This trophy may sound like it requires online but it doesn't. Go into the Delivery option and then Create New Gift; set the address to free and put whatever items you want into the box then send it out to earn this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/41.jpgTrader (B)

Carried out a trade.

Go into the Staff option and put your potential staff trades into the Trade Waiting Room. Now go into the Trade option and host or search for a trade partner. Once you find one you can choose which of their staff you want while they choose your staff that they want. Once the both of you finalize the trade you'll earn this trophy. Keep in mind that you can only trade staff members across specialty but they must be of equivalent skill. That is a staff of A, B, C, D or E rank must be traded for another one of the same rank; while their specialty (Combat, Medic, Cook, R&D, Intel) doesn't matter.

Played using all of the rules in VERSUS OPS.

This trophy is worded improperly and only requires you to play the 4 game types; Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture and Control. As long as you complete a full round of each game type you'll earn this trophy at the end of the last game type. This trophy can be expedited with a boosting partner and setting your game options to minimum time limits and minimum game rounds.

See S-Rank Guide for details.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/12.jpgEXTRA OPS All Rank S (S)

Cleared all EXTRA OPS at Rank S.

See S-Rank Guide for details.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/21.jpgSpecial Staff Recruiter (S)

Assembled all special staff members.

This trophy may be misleading at first glance; there are several staff members in your force with UNQ (unique) next to their name, but this trophy does not pertain to them. There are four characters in the game who have special jobs; one of them has a unique name while the other three have the generic animal code name. You will have to use Fulton recovery to get the three generic staff as they are POW's. This trophy will pop at the end of the mission after recovering the fourth member.

Special Staff

[spoiler=SpecialStaff]

Hideo Kojima

This is the only specially named staff member for this trophy. In the MAIN OPS mission Infiltrate Crater Base you'll be tasked to search various trucks at the end of the mission. Search the truck with the license plate 63284 to find and rescue Hideo Kojima.

New Voice Actor

In MAIN OPS mission Zadornov Search 1 he'll be a randomly placed POW in an area. Use Fulton recovery on him then finish the mission. He may not be the only POW in the mission.

Veteran Voice Actor

In MAIN OPS mission Zadornov Search 5 he'll be the only POW in the entire area. Use Fulton recovery on him then finish the mission. He may not be the only POW in the mission.

Actress

In MAIN OPS mission Travel to the Mine Base; go up the first ladder to your left. Hang off the side of the building to your left and shimmy along to the other side of the building to her. Use Fulton recovery on her then finish the mission.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/40.jpgElite Forces (S)

Cleared 'Capture the Enemy Base 06' In OUTER OPS using only soldiers.

This trophy is actually quite easy if you are prepared properly. This is the final OUTER OPS mission and is only unlocked by completing all other missions first. Your first order of business is getting combat staff with the highest marks in all combat skills and then having their abilities raised until their Health and Psyche are both at 9999. Your second order of business is to research the best weapons available, as your OUTER OPS troops will be using whatever you research. To make this mission easy, have the M47 and K.Pistol researched and your troops will be able to easily take down the enemies. Set 8 of your best combat staff on the mission and go do your own mission; afterwards watch the results of the OUTER OPS and if your forces win you'll earn this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/24.jpgGives me infinite ammo (S)(H)

Acquired Infinity Bandana. Never worry about running out of bullets ever again.

To first unlock the bandana for research you will need to S-Rank EXTRA OPS 119. Once that is done you can research the bandana if your Combat level is 88 and your R&D level is 88. Fully research the item to get the bandana and this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/25.jpgStealth camouflage (S)(H)

Acquired stealth camouflage. Never worry about being detected ever again.

To first unlock the stealth for research you will need to S-Rank EXTRA OPS 050. Once that is done you can research the stealth if your Intel level is 88, your R&D level is 88 and you have a R&D member with the Metamaterials skill. You can find an A-Rank R&D with the appropriate skill as a POW in EXTRA OPS 049. Fully research the item to get the stealth and this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/38.jpgCompleted ZEKE (S)(H)

Customized ZEKE's head parts and foot parts with special AI weapon parts.

You will need to have EXTRA OPS 112 - 119 unlocked to do this. Each 3rd Tier AI weapon has a small chance to drop their head unit after the battle, if you don't damage it too much. You will need to have at least one of these special head units. The 2nd and 3rd Tier Peace Walker has a small chance to drop its legs unit after the battle, if you don't damage it too much. Equip ZEKE with one of the AI heads and the Peace Walker legs for this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/50.jpgSteel Eater (S)(H)

Defeated all AI weapons.

You will need to have EXTRA OPS 112 - 120 unlocked to do this. You will need to destroy all 3 tiers of each AI weapon and defeat AI ZEKE. Your ranking after each fight doesn't matter as long as you complete each mission. You will earn this trophy at the mission results screen of your final AI fight.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/13.jpgBig Boss (G)

Cleared all MAIN OPS and EXTRA OPS missions at Rank S.

This trophy requires you to clear all 32 MAIN OPS and 128 EXTRA OPS missions with an S rank. You can mix solo and co-op play as long as you clear every mission with an S rank.

See S-Rank Guide for details.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/47.jpgVic Vos (G)(H)

Reached a total of 20,000 or more Camaraderie.

This trophy requires you to play online in either Versus or Co-op. Each mission or match you clear awards you with camaraderie. This is easy to grind with a partner in Versus play by setting each round to the minimum time and just playing for a few hours at a time. This can also be easily obtained by playing through the MAIN/EXTRA OPS with a partner or two. By the time you're ready to work on the S-Ranks you'll already have plenty of camaraderie.

Warning: It is possible to lose camaraderie by playing with too many random people. The game only records the last 50 people you've played with. If you play with more then 50 people the game will start pushing the latest name on its memory off and erasing all the camaraderie you had with that player.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1055/01.jpgVic Boss (P)

Obtained every trophy.

Boss Data

Boss 1 - Pupa

You're in a big arena type structure. The Pupa has gun turrets on its flanks and head unit; it's AI pod (weak point) is directly on top of its head. Aside from its machine guns it can fire electricity from its front; tacking onto this it will occasionally throw little pods all over the ground. You'll want to destroy some of these pods to make a safe area for you; it will eventually start charging its electricity and any area with a pod will get hit.

Boss 2 - Chrysalis

This boss can fly and there is no real safe area to hide from it. Any strong weapon works well against this boss but I recommend bringing some form of the FIM launcher as it has homing capabilities on it. Without any real place to hide, just do your best to dodge or put some of the walls between you and it when it starts firing off its weapons. Its AI pod is right in its front between the Radome and the Railgun.

Boss 3 - Cocoon

This is the easiest of the bosses, it's big and well armed but easy to dodge. Its main cannon is all you should worry about but it's really simple to dodge. When the main cannon activates start running as it shoots at you; after its third shot it will put its fourth shot in front of you. Instead of running into where it's ready to shoot, watch the cannon adjust and run the opposite direction. Its other attacks are missiles and bomblets that drop from the sky, so just keep moving to avoid those. Its AI pod is high atop its head (above its main cannon). After damaging it enough it'll crash into a wall, love its mobility and you'll be able to climb up to the top of it via a ladder on two either of its flanks. Before you think about climbing it be sure to have plenty of ammunition as you won't be able to call in a supply drop once you've mounted the boss.

Boss 4 - Peace Walker 1

This boss isn't hard just annoying to fight. You can't stay under it otherwise you'll be assaulted by its flamethrowers which hurt your health and psyche. It's favorite attack are S-Mines and Drill Missiles, they're both easy to dodge as long as you keep moving. Its AI pod is attached to its hind quarters. There's nothing much to this fight aside from stay moving and attack it when you have the chance.

Boss 5 - Peace Walker 2 (and all others later)

There are two things different with this fight; first its AI pod has been moved to its front quarters and every so often it'll break off fighting to try and launch its nuke. You will have to stay well stocked to be ready to prevent this when it happens; I suggest always having a supply marker always on the ground. It will also break off its attack and move along the backside of the warehouses. If you stand between them it will try to attack you and give you an opportunity to shoot its pod. It will also try to launch the nuke while on the back side of the warehouses, so be ready for that whenever it's back there.

Boss 6 - Metal Gear ZEKE

Luckily this fight is nowhere near as aggravating as Peace Walker. However the difficulty of this boss is based on how many memory boards you've managed to collect from the other AI bosses. The more boards you have; the harder, better, faster, stronger it will be. It still has very few attacks though. When it's up close it will use machine guns and try to step on you. When it's far away it will try to shoot you with its railgun; be sure to hide behind a barrier when it does this. It will have additional attacks if you've given it a custom AI head so I'd recommend putting the standard ZEKE head on it.

EXTRA OPS

001 - 002

These missions have no rank in them. Start the missions and immediately leave for credit.

003 - 009

These missions have you firing at stationary targets. Aim for the head (500 points) on every target. Speed isn't as important as accuracy here, take your time and make your shots count.

010 - 017

These missions require stealth and speed. Use non-lethal means to Fulton Recover all enemies and make it to the end of the mission as fast as possible.

018 - 020

These missions require stealth and speed. To prevent an alarm going off after detonating the objective, be sure to neutralize (knock out or tranquilize) all guards before you blow it up.

021

This mission is very easy. Use a light machine gun or rocket launcher to destroy all the trucks as they drive by.

022 - 027

Most of these missions require stealth, but some of them don't. Use non-lethal means to take out all of the enemies. Time isn't too important but don't waste too much of it.

028 - 029

These are much like missions 018 - 020, but after destroying the objective you need to collect the items inside it. Stay out of sight and take out all the guards before detonating the target.

030 - 032

These missions require stealth and a bit of speed. You may need to replay each mission a few times to learn the location of all documents. Mission 032 requires you to interrogate one of the guards to have the final document appear in the area.

033 - 34

These missions aren't too difficult at all. To disarm a mine; crouch-walk from its back or sides until you get the :triangle: sign to disable them. Using the Solitron Radar will show you where they are and which way they face.

035 - 037

These missions are stealth and speed. Simply hold up every enemy to clear these.

038 - 041

These missions have you guarding an exit from enemies who will rush your position. Hold your ground and take them out with non-lethal weapons. You cannot let a single enemy leave the area.

042

This mission has you guarding a POW as he cowers in a corner. Enemies will come from both sides of the room to take him out. Use non-lethal weapons to take them out and then escort him to the exit when they're all gone.

043 - 044

These missions are just like 042 except you're guarding boxes or items. Defeat all enemies with non-lethal means and do not let them destroy a single item.

045 - 050

These missions are more about speed; if you get seen or kill anyone it's an automatic game over. If you must take out a guard use the Mk. 22 and do not be seen at all.

051

This mission just requires you to blow up an obstacle. Nothing difficult.

052

This mission is easy; get on the mounted machine gun and take out all the robots.

053

This mission might take a few tries to learn the guard patrol routes. Just stay hidden from the guards and get to the exit.

054

This mission requires stealth and speed. It may take a few tries to learn the location of all items (one is in the elevator); but do not be seen or kill anyone.

055

This mission is a lot like the Fulton Recovery missions, but you only need to Fulton Recover the POW. Don't be seen and don't kill anyone while you do this.

056

This mission gives you one bullet to take out all enemies on the other side of the chasm. You will need to shoot the middle barrel while the two robots are on each side of the barrel, they'll fall to the ground and blow up the other barrels and guards. They should be in the proper position near the first 60 seconds into the mission.

057 - 057

You need to bring the camera for these missions and take a picture of the leader while he's exercising. In 057 he's on the dock at the boathouse. In 058 he's running a circuit through the level. These missions require speed and stealth; do not kill but you can knock out the other guards.

059

This mission requires you to use the camera and get a picture of the ghost. The ghost can phase in and out and move to different areas of the map. You can use the analyzer or solitron radar to find the ghosts position. Do not let the ghost see you while you work to get your picture.

060 - 062

These missions require you to collect all the items, each item is near a ghost. You can either avoid the ghost or press :triangle: over the body to perform cpr on the body and remove the ghost. Do not be spotted by any ghosts.

063 - 065

Use whatever weapon you want and shoot down the balloons as they pick up soldiers and crates. Do not let a single soldier be taken away, nothing too difficult at all.

066

This mission can be a little tricky if your aim isn't that good. It's much like mission 063 - 065 but you'll be shooting down missiles that are being aimed at your base. Do not let a single missile hit the base.

067

Please see the trophy Paz Mania for how to S-Rank this mission.

068

Please see the trophy Kaz Mania for how to S-Rank this mission.

069 - 111

Please see the Vehicle Combat Tactics for how to S-Rank these missions.

112 - 120

Please see the Boss Data for how to fight these enemies. Bring your strongest weapons, all you need here is speed.

121 - 128

These monsters are alive and so you must use non-lethal means to take them down. You cannot kill the lesser monsters either, focus on taking down the big monster. All you need here is speed.

Vehicle Combat Tactics

This isn't just a guide to clearing the vehicle missions but a guide to help S-Rank the vehicle missions. The two main things to know is that being seen won't disqualify you from an S-Rank and you need to clear the mission without a single kill. If the enemy vehicle hits an enemy and kills them, that's okay and won't count against you.

Section 1. Required Gear

There is a number of items that are required for earning an S-Rank on vehicle missions. Before you can access some of the gear you'll have to clear the harder vehicle missions and depending on your gear can make this difficult.

Carl Gustav (Fulton Recovery)

This weapon is a Carl Gustav but will fulton recover all human enemies it hits; it comes with 3 shots. This weapon is very loud and if you wish to remain stealthy with it, you will need to be standing in a smoke grenade cloud.

How to: Clear EXTRA OPS 098.

045 > 046 > 102 > 047 > 048 > 091 > 037 > 098

Fulton Sleep Gas Mine

This weapon acts like a standard landmine, but will fulton recover all human enemies it hits; it comes with 5 shots and will put Snake to sleep if he's in range when it goes off. You can force it to go off by shooting it with any weapon.

How to: Clear EXTRA OPS 064.

116 > 017 > 101 > 110 > 043 > 097 > 118 > 023 > 024 > 105 > 025 > 070 > 026 > 027 > 094 > 044 > 041 > 077 > 020 > 089 > 055 > 079 > 009 > 066 > 073 > 107 > 058 > 061 > 092 > 062 > 100 > 064

M47

This is the most powerful missile weapon and has a slight homing lock. It works very well against all vehicles and comes with 3 shots.

How to: Clear EXTRA OPS 111 with an S-Rank.

PB/6P9

This weapon is lethal but has an infinite suppressor on it. If you have a hard time clearing vehicle missions through combat, you can use this weapon to use stealth and kill off all the guards without being detected.

How to: Find the PM documents in EXTRA OPS 052 and research PM Rank 3 to unlock the PB/6P9.

Bandana

This item gives your currently equipped weapon infinite ammunition. This item will not prevent an S-Rank and should be utilized as early as possible.

How to: Clear EXTRA OPS 119 with an S-Rank.

N.V.G. (Night Vision Goggles)

These not only help with dark missions, but they also double as thermal vision and will highlight all enemies in bright green. They also make it possible to see through smoke from smoke grenades.

Smoke Grenade

These are ideal for masking not only your current location, but also disrupting the enemy soldiers. It will make them blind and unable to move.

Magazine

There are various magazines and all can be used to bait guards towards a location where you can take them out.

Analyzer

With a high rank analyzer you will be able to see how many guards are left in the mission in one of the pause windows.

Section 2. Stealth Take-down

To S-Rank vehicle missions you cannot kill a single enemy and must take out the enemy leader. To do this you will have to take out all the ground guards. Once you do this there are two ways to get the leader to appear. If you are using stealth, the leader will pop out immediately and look for you; if you have been seen you will need to use heavy weapons to damage the vehicle to make the leader appear. Once you subdue the leader the mission will be over.

Section 2.1 - Helicopter

Suggested Gear: Moisin Nagant, Lethal Weapon (Your Choice), Smoke Grenades, NVG's

The helicopter is first because it's the easiest to fight off and there's a trick to them. All vehicles send out 4 guards at one time but unlike the other vehicles, you won't need to go through all their guards. From the start of the mission, equip Smoke Grenades and hit the group of guards with the grenade. When they're all coughing, put on NVG's, go into the smoke and hold them up; this will put them face down on the ground and keep them from attacking you. Now use any lethal weapon and attack the helicopter's cockpit window; I prefer a sniper rifle for better accuracy. Once you've damaged the helicopter enough the leader will pop out and you can take him out.

Section 2.2 - LAV

Suggested Gear: Mk. 22, Fulton Recovery, Fulton Mine, Fulton Launcher, Smoke Grenades, NVG's

The LAV's are the second easiest to take out. Once you take out the first 4 guards it will move and then send 4 guards out its back. When using stealth you can follow behind the LAV and drop a smoke grenade when it stops to let guards out. This will blind them and you can dispose of them as you see fit. Once all the guards are gone you can take out the leader however you see fit. Remember that the LAV's vision is based on where its main cannon is pointing.

Section 2.3 - BTR

Suggested Gear: Mk. 22, Fulton Recovery, Fulton Mine, Fulton Launcher, Smoke Grenades, NVG's

The BTR's are much like the LAV but a bit harder due to how their guards appear. They come from the top of the vehicle and jump off to the left side. You can follow along behind it just like the LAV but you have to be good with your grenade placement as the guards spread out a bit before they get blinded by the smoke. Once all the guards are gone you can take out the leader however you see fit. Remember that the LAV's vision is based on where its main cannon is pointing.

Section 2.4 - Tank

Suggested Gear: Mk. 22, Fulton Recovery, Fulton Mine, Fulton Launcher, Magazines, Smoke Grenades, NVG's

Tanks are a problem vehicle but not because of their strength, but because of how their guards appear. Instead of emerging from the vehicle, the guards will spawn randomly from 4 locations in each map; making it impossible to control where the guards come from. These missions may take a few tries to learn where each spawn point is and where is a safe place to hide. Another problem with the tanks is they're too wide and can prevent the Fulton Mine from capturing all 4 guards together. Once you've learned their spawn points it's time to bait them into a trap.

Near a safe location, put down 2 magazines and a Fulton Mine. Now shoot one of the guards in the head; it'll hit his helmet and alert all of them. They'll all rush over to where you were standing (go hide). When they get close they'll get lured in by the magazines, when all 4 are there shoot the Fulton Mine to bag them. When the next wave of guards spawn, they will rush to the location you shot at the first set of guards; if you can sneak behind them and hold them up then do so, if not then let them leave. Repeat this process until you're out of mines. On the higher level tanks with more guards put down the magazines but instead of a Fulton Mine, use a smoke Grenade to trap them and then fulton them away. On the highest difficulty when you're out of mines and normal fulton recovery systems, use the smoke grenade trap but shoot the guards with the Fulton Launcher to bag them. Once all the guards are gone, the leader will appear; take him out.

Section 3. Combat Take-down

Suggested Gear: Battle W/H Uniform, Mk. 22 or Moisin Nagant, M47 (or other strong missile weapon), Gustav Fulton Launcher, Bandana (this is important), Rations

This is a basic how to get an S-Rank without being stealthy. The first thing to understand is unlike the stealth options, the leader will only appear if you damage the vehicle enough after removing all of the guards, however you still can't kill any guards in the mission. Once the fight begins equip the bandana and Fulton Launcher, open fire on the guards to fulton them away. The vehicle will see you and start firing on you (so take cover). Keep using the Fulton Launcher to remove the guards as quickly as they appear. Once all the guards are gone use the M47 to attack the vehicle. Once the vehicle has taken enough damage, use whatever non-lethal means to take out the commander and complete the level.

I'm glad to finally see a trophy guide for this game :) But the guide doesn't link to the guides you are refearing too though :/

I'm still in the process of inputting all the information. I got called in to my shop right when I started and that set me back. I'm moving slow with a headache but I'll have everything up soon enough.

hey just to make everyones life a little easier to get the This looks tasty which is nicely cook a ration you can cook rations on EX. 64 without having to fight off any monsters you can shoot all the pooyans and at the end of the mission just go and cook you stuff hope that helps.

Took longer then desired but I got the main information all up, now gonna start working on the other stuff to go along with it.

For getting S on the extra ops. Does it have all single player or can I combine in some single player S rank and coop S rank? You should specify this in the guide.

Great guide btw.

You can mix solo and co-op play. As long as the game has a record of you completing the mission with the proper rank it will count.

Thanks. That makes it easier than expected :) Still difficult I guess :p

The only difficult spots are really getting past the 5 red skull fights when you may not have sufficient gear. I'm taking a small break for the moment but I'm putting in gameplay information and what-not to help make things easier. Once you get the feel of how everything operates the game is actually quite easy and just tedious. The really annoying part is S-ranking all the vehicle fights; you can't use the EM net and have to slowly take out all the guards... most fights have 20+ and some even have 36 guards to clear out first.

Already did the red skull on PSP so I guess they won't be a problem on PS3 :D

I don't remember what EM net is, but can't you just use the bandanna+gus. fulton(whatever the name is) and weak the tank to make leader get out of it, plus a co-op partner and still get S rank ? I thought that what I read in the guide.

The EM Net lets you automatically capture ground based vehicles, regardless of how many guards they have left. You can use the bandana and Gustav Fulton, I'm going to be adding vehicle fight information in one of my reserved posts.

An easy way to get 100 kills fast without replaying missions or doing alerts is just replay the first Base Defense in Extra Ops, I think it's 30 or around there, 40 soldiers need to cross the platform but you're in the way so just shoot them up :) 3 times and done is all I did. So this won't interrupt your S ranking missions.

I have unlocked and finished EXTRA OPS 112 - 119 several times in co-op and got all of Paz's and Strangelove's diaries (and the trophies for listening to the diaries) but "Steel Eater" won't unlock. Anyone else having problems with this trophy? Did a google search if this trophy is glitched but didn't find anything about it.

I found with the CQC Six Shot Trophy the easiest possible way to do it. On the Mother Base menu where you can choose R&D/Staff/OuterOps/etc, at the top right there's the recruit selection.

Under the recruit mission where you CQC, there's easily 8 guys lined up for an ass kicking, I got this trophy by doing this my first try.
