Section 02. Introduction

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is an off-shoot game from the Metal Gear series; instead of featuring one of the Snake characters, it focuses on Raiden after the events of Metal Gear Solid 4. With the change of character comes the change of gameplay and it requires patience and mastery to pull off. Luckily there are various exploits to make the trek more bearable.

Section 2.1 - What to know

This section will cover the various ways to make your road to platinum easier.

Cheat Code

Being a Konami game there is a code in their traditional fashion that is used to unlock all difficulties from the start. Without using this code you would have to clear the game at least 3 times to earn the platinum.

At the Press Start screen

    :left: :right: :left: :right: :circle: :cross:

Parry, Just-Defend, and Unblockables

A key action in this game is the parry, you activate the parry by pressing the :ls: towards the enemy who's attacking and pressing :square:. This is your main defense and can only block one attack, if an enemy is doing a combo you will have to parry again after their strike.

If you activate your parry at the last possible moment before getting hit, you will activate a Just-Defend (also called Perfect Parry or Parry Counter). During a Just-Defend, Raiden will automatically follow up with a counter-attack. This gives Raiden invincibility frames and deals massive damage to enemies when playing on Revengeance Difficulty.

Some enemies have unblockable attacks, you cannot use parry or just-defend to protect yourself. You will have to avoid the enemy attack to mitigate damage. You can always tell an unblockable attack as the enemy will glow yellow during their telegraph.

Section 03. Walkthrough

While it is possible to get everything possible in one run through by using the cheat code, it is not advisable as Revengeance difficulty is very difficult to clear and you should use the lower difficulties to practice your skills. You will also need to play more than once to earn enough BP to unlock and power up your gear which can make Revengeance easier, as well as earn you a trophy. You earn BP numerous ways, most of which are combat related. In ranked battles you earn BP based on your time, kills, combos, and zandatsu counts. You can also earn BP by collecting items you're currently full on and by clearing the mission. The two big trophies in this game are Stormbringer for finishing Revengeance Difficulty with all S-Ranks and Virtually Flawless for clearing all 20 VR Missions while beating the 1 place rank.

Section 3.1 - First Playthrough (Normal)

Where you choose to use the code or not, I advise playing your first game on Normal. This will keep enemy damage low and will allow you to learn their attacks without having the auto-assist on. During this playthrough you should focus on earning all collectibles to get them out of the way and gain access to most of the unlockable gear. You should also work towards the mission specific trophies; Steel Tail, No Flash Photography, Dwarf Raiden, Love at First Sight, A Walk in the Dark, Menace to Society, Great Escape, and Surprise Attack! Since this is your first playthrough I recommend taking it slow and working on Amateur Radio Operator as well. You may not get it on this playthrough, but it carries over and can be completed on subsequent playthroughs. You should also take notice of the one glitched trophy Tearing Away the Disguise, if you can't earn it this playthrough you can on subsequent playthroughs.

Section 3.2 - Second Playthrough (Hard)

After the credits and the game saves, do not select "New Game" on the main menu. To move to the next difficulty you can choose "Chapter" or "Continue." You should use this playthrough to get used to the increase in enemy aggressiveness as well as their increased attack power. You can also use this playthrough to pick up any collectibles you missed on the previous playthrough. As long as you've collected everything you'll have a majority of your unlockables available to you as well as earning a few more trophies. Since you are on Hard difficulty you can attempt to earn No Damage against the bosses; however, you'll need to have an immaculate run on Revengeance Difficulty so it's not a requirement for this run.

Section 3.4 - Final Playthrough (Revengeance)

After you clear the VR Missions you'll have access to all the gear that can make your Revengeance playthrough easier. You will either have play through Very Hard, or use the Konami Code to immediately unlock Revengeance. Optimize your gear and steel yourself because this difficulty is unrelenting and you will have to earn an S-Rank across all missions. Since this is your S Rank playthrough, you should focus on earning the boss specific trophies if you haven't already. Earning a No Damage Bonus sounds difficult, but with an understanding of the game mechanics and how the bosses work it's plenty manageable. If there's anything left after this go back and clean up.

Cut off Metal Gear RAY's metal tail during File R-00.

This trophy is only available during File R-00 and only during your first encounter with Metal Gear RAY. To get this trophy you need to stay away but relatively close to RAY and wait for it to do its tail sweep attack. When it does its tail sweep you must parry the attack. When you parry its tail you'll be prompted to enter Blade Mode, do so. Raiden will jump into the air and as he descends you will be able to slice RAY's tail. This trophy will pop upon landing on the ground.

Destroy all the Gun Cameras in File R-01.

This trophy is only available during File R-01 and only in the factory near the end of the mission. You know you entered the factory when you have to jump on top of some containers and slash your way into the building. Once you're in here you'll need to destroy all 8 cameras you come across. The first two are in the room you enter after cutting through the fan. The second set of two cameras are in the narrow hallway. The final four cameras are in the final room; two are on the ground level while the other two are on pillars on the second level. If you have a hard time finding them you can use AR mode, they'll be highlighted in red.

Incapacitate all the soldiers in File R-02 using a Dwarf Gekko.

This trophy is only available during File R-02 when you take control of a Dwarf Gekko (also known as a Tripod). When you take control of the Dwarf Gekko you have to disable all 5 guards in the area by getting behind them and pressing :circle:. Three of them stay on the bottom level, one stays on the top level, while the other one goes between the two. Be sure another guard doesn't see you disabling a guard, otherwise you'll get an alert and need to restart this section. This is also the same area as the Love at First Sight trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/350/97D.jpgLove at First Sight (B)

While remotely operating a Dwarf Gekko in story mode, find and communicate with all Dwarf Gekko's.

This trophy is only available during File R-02 when you take control of a Dwarf Gekko (also known as a Tripod). When you take control of the Dwarf Gekko, you need to find and interact with the 5 Dwarf Gekko's hanging out in the area; to interact with them, stand in front of them and press :r2: to hop back and forth, this should get the Dwarf Gekko to applaud you. You can find 4 of the Dwarf Gekko's by using the minimap and looking around, however one of them is hard to find. This is the same area for you to earn Dwarf Raiden so don't miss out on it.

#1. From the start of the area, turn right and jump onto the box in the corner.

#2. From the start of the area, move forward and jump onto a box then jump onto the rail that's in the middle of the path. Walk on the railing back to the start of the area, turn right and jump onto the top of higher boxes. From there jump onto a higher set of boxes. From there jump onto the top of the conveyor system to find the Dwarf Gekko.

#3. From the start of the area, move down the path and when it turns left look in the corner.

#4. From the start of the area, move down the path and when it turns left look up on the pipes on the inside of the turn. Jump onto the boxes to reach the pipes and this Dwarf Gekko.

#5. From the start of the area, move down the path and take both turns. Go past the stair case and tucked away in the corner on the far side of the area is a stack of boxes with the Dwarf Gekko atop them.

Complete the abandoned railroad sequence in File R-03 without using AR Mode.

This trophy is only available in File R-03, in the underground train area which you reach after cutting the elevator cable. Getting through this area isn't too difficult and can be done in one of two ways. You can adjust your television settings to give yourself some vision and play stealthy; this is advised if you're not good at combating Mastiff's. Or you can run through the area and fight everything; this is advised as when an enemy is alerted to your presences, the immediate area lights up and allows you to see what's going on. Either way you decide to go about it, be sure to not activate AR Mode until you're back outside in daylight. This trophy should pop when Wolf contacts you.

Cut off the finial at the top of the pagoda in File R-04.

This trophy is only available in File R-04, after making it past the security door you'll enter a traditional Japanese area. The building in front of you when you first enter the area is the building you need to climb, but when you first enter the area you'll need to dispatch a group of enemies. After they're down, run to the right side of the pagoda and ninja run to climb up onto a platform and then use the platform to reach the first level of the pagoda. From there you'll need to find a set of lanterns and use them as stepping stones to reach the next level, do this until you're on the top of the pagoda. Once you're on the top, use your weapon to cut the lightning rod look part in the middle of the platform to earn this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/350/0A7.jpgGreat Escape (B)

Complete File R-05 in less than 7 minutes.

This trophy is only available in File R-05 and is not as difficult as it sounds. There are only a handful of required battles in R-05 and most can be skipped with careful planning. You will have to partake of the battle at the start of the mission, but when it ends run to the corner in the area leading to the rest of the level. Ninja run between the buses and if you're fast enough you can evade the Gekkos that enter the area. Continue on down the path until you get attacked by one heavy and four regular cyborgs. After this fight you'll be attacked by Dwarf Gekkos until you reach a staircase. From here you can attack everything you want, but I would advise waiting in a cardboard box until the Slides leave the area. Whichever you prefer, when you reach the bottom of the stairs you'll be attacked by two Raptors. From here there's not much left, move forward and skip the guards who are with a civilian and GRAD. When you reach the Mastiff, you can either fight it or hide from it and sneak past to exit the level. As long as you're quick about destroying the enemies you should have no problem with this mission. A good strategy I'd recommend is using ripper mode to dispatch the more powerful enemies and use Zandatsu to replenish your energy before the fight is over.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/350/3C5.jpgSurprise Attack (B)

Arrive at the objective in File R-07 without being spotted.

This trophy is only available in File R-07 and can be somewhat difficult, and requires a few items; namely a box or drum, at least 1 shot of a RPG or Stinger, and 1 Hologram. I advise doing this on Hard Difficulty or lower as it makes this trophy much easier to obtain.

At the start of the mission approach the gate and without signaling an alert, get the guards attention and lead them away from the gate and hide. When they turn around, use an assassinate kill on them. Now do not approach the gate as there are two hidden enemies that will always detect your approach. Instead use your RPG or Stinger to shoot and kill the final guard. Now move towards the gate to trigger the codec conversation.

Slice through the gate, hug the right wall and use ninja run to climb to the top of the boxes and onto the overhang above the hangar entrance; the guards will notice you but shouldn't go into an alert, hide in a box or drum to not be seen. When the guards return to their routine jump down and enter the hangar. To your right, jump up to the top level and without being seen by the guard on the catwalk approach the back of the hangar. Take out the two heavies or leave them be and slice through the back of the hangar.

Now there are three guards split among two groups here; one is on the catwalk attached to the hangar while two are on the other side of a APC. This can be done by throw a hologram to have the two on the ground look towards the hangar, this will allow you to sneak behind them and you'll be far enough away and out of sight of the lone cyborg.

This trophy will not pop until you reach the results screen, but you will know you earned it if Doktor compliments you upon sneaking past the final set of cyborgs.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/350/BAB.jpgAnti-Cyborg Sentiment (B)

Destroy a total of 100 Cyborgs during story mode.

This trophy is easy to obtain and can be considered unmissable as you should have at least 100 Cyborg kills before you finish the game on your first playthrough.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/350/A13.jpgThe Bigger They Are... (B)

Destroy a total of 100 Custom Cyborgs during story mode.

This trophy is relatively easy to obtain and can be knocked out in approximately two playthroughs, or can be grinded in specific areas. Custom Cyborgs are the cyborgs who wield big two-handed swords, can parry your attacks, and need to be weakened before you can Zandatsu them.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/350/B8F.jpgDemilitarized Zone (B)

Destroy a total of 100 Heavily Armored Cyborgs during story mode.

This trophy is relatively easy to obtain but can require some effort as these enemies are not common, even on the higher difficulties. The Heavily Armored Cyborgs are the ones wielding war hammers and require a lot of damage before you can Zandatsu them. This trophy can take several playthroughs or can be grinded in specific areas.

The best place to grind this is in File R-07. After destroying the guards outside the gate, go further into the base and kill all the heavies, then press :select: and go to your customization menu. This will save your kills and then start you back outside the gate. Repeat this process until this trophy pops.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/350/FE4.jpgHerpetophobia (B)

Destroy a total of 10 Gekkos during story mode.

This trophy is easy to obtain and can be considered unmissable as you should kill at least 10 Gekkos before you finish the game on your first playthrough. Dwarf Gekkos and GRADs do not count for this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/350/2B9.jpgSilverback (B)

Destroy a total of 10 Mastiffs during story mode.

This trophy is easy to obtain and can be considered unmissable as you should kill at least 10 Mastiffs before you finish the game on your first playthrough.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/350/46A.jpgExtinction Level Event (B)

Destroy a total of 10 Raptors during story mode.

This trophy is relatively easy to obtain but can require some effort as these enemies are not as numerous as others. This can be obtained on your first playthrough if you clear every single battle available to you. If not, you will earn this on a subsequent playthrough.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/350/F2A.jpgPond Scum (B)

Destroy a total of 5 Vodomjerka during story mode.

This trophy is relatively easy but only possible in File R-02. Near the end of the sewer section you'll be in a square room where a water strider type enemy will be patrolling, this is the enemy you have to kill. Every time you kill one of these enemies, a new one will spawn in, for an infinite amount of times. There is also a ranked battle with three of these enemies, but the square room with the respawning patrol is the best area to farm kills.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/350/60F.jpgWolf Hunter (B)

Destroy a total of 10 Fenrirs during story mode.

This trophy is relatively easy but can require some effort as these enemies are not as numerous as others. Clearing the game at least twice while hitting all relevant battles should earn you this trophy. The Wolf Boss Battle in R-01 does count for this, seeing how it's early in the mission it's the best location to farm kills if you want.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/350/870.jpgSlider Strike (B)

Destroy a total of 10 Sliders during story mode.

This trophy is relatively easy but can require some effort as these enemies are not too numerous. You can earn this trophy on your first playthrough, but this would require you taking your time and killing every single one you come across; to include all the Sliders during the R-04 building assault.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/350/A09.jpgJumping the Shark (B)

Destroy a total of 10 Hammerheads during story mode.

This trophy is relatively easy but can require some effort as these enemies are not too numerous. Hammerheads are the helicopters that attack you in very few locations. You can earn this trophy in roughly two playthroughs, but the best place to farm them is R-01. You get attacked by one early in the mission and can fight two more in a later ranked battle.

I theorize that you can also grind these during the Sundowner fight as his helicopter support comes back in about a minute, but I have no confirmation.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/350/3A9.jpgLooking Out for the Little Guys (B)

Destroy a total of 30 Dwarf Gekkos during story mode.

This trophy is easy to obtain and can be considered unmissable as you should kill at least 30 Dwarf Gekkos before you finish the game on your first playthrough. If you are the impatient type, you can farm Dwarf Gekkos during the Mistral fight; as she has an infinite supply of them as support.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/350/E15.jpgDatsu Right (B)

Successfully complete 50 Zandatsus during story mode.

To earn this trophy you need to successfully perform 50 Zandatsus. A Zandatsu is when you slash an enemy's weakspot in blade mode and then press :circle: to grab its power core and absorb it. If you do not grab the power core it will not be a successful Zandatsu. The standard humanoid Cyborgs can be hit with a Zandatsu right away while the more powerful enemies will need to be weakened or staggered first. Simply perform 50 Zandatsus and this trophy is yours.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/350/4DE.jpgWhat Doesn't Kill You... (B)

In story mode, successfully parry 10 attacks in a row in one minute or less.

This trophy is not as difficult as it sounds, especially when your skill level improves. To successfully parry you need to press the :ls: towards an attacking enemy while simultaneously pressing :square:. All you need to do is parry 10 attacks within 60 seconds. I've had best results with the Custom Cyborgs as they're quite aggressive and if you're good enough to can chain parry by just-defending an attack, they'll block and then counter-attack, which gives you another chance for a just-defend. They won't keep this up forever and you'll eventually break their guard, but they offer the best chance to parry as compared to other enemies. Another ideal place will be when you're attempting the Genius Destroyer trophy, as Monsoon attacks rapidly and gives plenty of opportunities to parry 10 times within 60 seconds.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/350/501.jpgAssassin Behind Closed Doors (B)

Successfully complete 30 Ninja Kills during story mode.

This trophy is very simple, a ninja kill is when you press :circle: behind an enemy who doesn't see you and kill them. There are many places in the game that allow you to sneak up on enemies to perform these attacks. You can also use AR mode to watch their movements through walls, use the hologram to distract them, and use the cardboard box or drum to hide from an enemy as he passes by. Simply get 30 Ninja Kills across multiple playthroughs to earn this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/350/FBE.jpgYou Don't Run from Chance (B)

Successfully complete 50 executions during story mode.

This trophy is simple but may take some work to get. An execution is when you've weakened an enemy and are prompted to press :triangle: and :circle: simultaneously. This will have Raiden perform a finishing move on the enemy that will kill them, though it does offer you a perfect chance to finish them off with a Zandatsu. One small thing to note is you need to have at least one full energy bar to be able to pull off an execution. Simply complete 50 executions and you'll earn this trophy.

Not every enemy behaves the same and they all have different execution cinematics, but the easiest way to get most enemies into a weakened state so you can execute them is by hitting them with a just-defend. You can execute Gekkos by parrying their charge attack as well, this will require you to do a quick-time event to stop them from hitting you, but once it's over you can go immediately into an execution.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/350/772.jpgAssault With a Deadly Weapon (B)

Dismember three enemies during Blade Mode with a single attack.

This is as simple as it sounds, while in Blade Mode hit three enemies with one slash and have it dismember all of them. This is easy to perform on the basic cyborg as you do not have to weaken them and they tend to crowd around Raiden. It can also be performed against Dwarf Gekkos as they're small and can easily swarm you, giving the perfect opportunity to slice at least three of them at once.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/350/64D.jpgRip 'Em Apart (B)

In story mode, kill 100 enemies by cutting them.

This is a very simple and straightforward trophy almost to the point of it being unmissable. While playing the game use Blade Mode or Ripper Mode to dismember enemies or merely slash them into ribbons. Keep in mind the more powerful enemies can't be dismembered until they've been weakened.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/350/76E.jpgA Lover, Not a Fighter (B)

Successfully complete 10 No Kill battles during story mode.

This is as simple as it sounds, merely win 10 ranked battles while earning a No Kill bonus. To earn a No Kill bonus you must dispatch all enemies with a non-lethal weapon. Your two choices are the High-Frequency Wooden Sword or the Stun Blade; you earn the Wooden Sword by finding all 5 Men in Box and earn the Stun Blade by finding all 20 Data Storage. Once you have one of these weapons, use it to fight ranked battles and after your 10th No Kill Bonus you'll have this trophy.

Destroy all of the humanoid Dwarf Gekkos during story mode.

(Glitch) This trophy requires you to find and destroy all 5 humanoid Dwarf Gekkos that are hidden in the game. Some are more easily found than others, but all can be easily missed. While not entirely missable, this trophy is finicky with some people having to destroy all 5 in one pass and others being able to quit the game and pick it up later and still earning the trophy. This problem is made apparent as unlike other collectible trophies, the game will not auto-save once you kill a the humanoid Dwarf Gekko. For safety's sake, I would advise to destroy all 5 of them in one go without using the restart function.

Acquire all enemy officers' left arms.

This trophy requires you to find and collect all 30 left arms belonging to enemy officers. They're not too hard to miss if you're adamant about using AR mode to examine all the enemies you come across, but a few of them can be difficult to locate as you need to perform a specific action to have some of them spawn. If you miss an arm you can go back using Chapter Select and pick it up, since the game auto-saves every time you pick up an arm you'll be able to quit out of the mission once you have one you missed. However you will need to beat your current mission once you've picked up the final arm to earn this trophy. These collectibles can be tracked via the Extras tab on the Main Menu. Each Arm has a name attached to it, which is how you can track them.

Mistral is one of the easier bosses in the game, so this trophy isn't too complicated. You must be playing on Hard, Very Hard, or Revengeance, and defeat Mistral without taking any damage. If Mistral or her Dwarf Gekkos lands a hit on you, use the Restart Checkpoint option to try again. Mistral has 3 phases to her fight with a checkpoint at the end of each phase. Unless you're impatient, you should leave this trophy for your Stormbringer playthrough, as earning a no damage bonus helps you achieve an S-Rank.

Listen to most of the codec conversations.

This is a very time consuming trophy as it requires you to listen to a majority of all possible codec conversations in the game. For this trophy you'll need to play File R-01 through R-07 and routinely talk to the support characters. The best method to do this trophy is to talk to them anytimestoryline progression has been made; whether it's taking a call from a support character, watching a cutscene, fighting a boss, or clearing a ranked battle. Other times to call your support characters are upon encountering a new enemy, rescuing a hostage, letting a hostage die, or cutting the clothes off hostages. Keep in mind everyone may have something to say; this is very monotonous and time consuming. You'll earn this trophy once you've listened to the required number of codec conversations. This trophy does carry through multiple playthroughs; so if you don't get it in one playthrough, you can keep trying on subsequent playthroughs.

Boss Data

This is here to assist people with any part of the boss fights that happen in this game. As people are required to earn S Ranks across Revengeance Difficulty, I will be covering every enemy attack and mitigation methods as well. Any attack written out in RED means it's unblockable, PURPLE means blockable but chip damage. One thing to note about all bosses is they all have quicktime events at the end and if you fail it, you will die.

File R-00: Metal Gear Ray 1

Metal Gear Ray is the first boss of the game and you fight it early in the first mission.

Attacks

Machineguns - It'll shoot at you if you're not up close. Use ninja run to deflect its bullets.

Tailsweep - If you're about medium distance away it'll sometimes swing its tail at you. You can parry its tail, be sure to hold :l1: afterwards to cut its tail. This is the requirement for Steel Tail. (Possible once)

Foot Stomp - This is only if you're directly under its feet. It'll raise a foot up and try to stomp you. You can parry its stomp, be sure to hold :l1: to cut its leg armor or its leg turret. (Possible twice for each foot)

Arm Blade - A blade will come out of one of its arms and it'll slam its arm at you. You can parry this attack.

Head Butt - If you're close to its face but not under it, it'll roar at you before slamming its head down onto you. You can parry this attack, be sure to hold :l1: to cut its head armor or one of its arm turrets. (Possible three times, shares cutting with its Charge attack)

Charge - If you're medium to far away it'll lower its head and try to run you down. You can parry this attack, be sure to hold :l1: to cut its head armor or one of its arm turrets. (Possible three times, shares cutting with its Head Butt attack).

Missiles - It'll fire missiles at you and they'll stick into the ground. You can slice them or simply run away to avoid them exploding.

Plasma Beam - If you're medium to far away it'll charge the plasma beam in its mouth. Simply run left or right to dodge its vertical sweep, and jump or run away to avoid its horizontal sweep.

Fighting

Metal Gear Ray isn't a tough opponent, but can be frustrating as it's very mobile for its size and the camera can be a pain if you get under it. The main things to know is if you get near its feet, it will eventually jump away from you. From here it'll most likely use its machineguns, missiles, or plasma beam. When you get relatively close it'll start to rely on its physical attacks and this is where you can dominate it.

If it does an attack where parrying allows you to get free hits in Blade Mode, you should do it. Every body part (except the tail) can be hit at least twice this way. Once to take the armor off, each following attempt to do damage to it. If you can't get it to do its stomp attack, you can directly attack the legs to eventually go into Blade Mode, but parrying a stomp is a lot faster than merely hacking away at it.

Once you get it down to ~1.0% of health it'll automatically start using its arm blade. When it swings its arm at you, you'll be prompted into a quicktime event. At the end of the quicktime event the battle will be over.

File R-00: Metal Gear Ray 2

The second Metal Gear Ray fight happens immediately after chasing Sundowner and you reach a rooftop. This is the Metal Gear you fought previously as evidence of its missing arm.

Attacks

Headbutt - Much like in the previous fight, Ray will use its head to try to attack Raiden. Parry it and you'll be able to blade mode it to knock its armor off.

Headbutt-Right - This is exactly the same as its original Headbutt, but will slam its head into the building to the right side. Parry it and it'll go into stagger mode.

Arm Blade - Just like in the previous fight, it'll try to slam its arm down onto you. Parry it and you'll be able to blade mode its head.

Missiles - Just like in the previous fight, it'll fire missiles that'll stick into the building you're standing on. Either run away or slice them.

Hemp Missiles - It'll position its arm over the room and fire missiles at you. You can either use Blade Mode to cut them, or jump over them.

Plasma Beam - It will charge its beam before sweeping the rooftop horizontally twice; first from right to left, then left to right. Simply jump over its beam as it attacks.

Fighting

This fight is actually much easier, but you have a small area to operate in. The first thing to know is Ray has a reliable pattern of attack, it'll always start with its plasma beam as well. Now anytime you're not dodging one of its attack you should be attacking it. Its regular headbutt comes out rather quick so you need to be fast to parry it, but outside of that there's nothing to worry about. If you manage to parry its attacks and blade mode or stagger it, you'll be able to put a massive amount of hurt on it. When it gets near death it'll jump away and you'll be drawn into another quicktime event. The big difference with this one is near the end you'll be able to control Raiden running down the side of a building. If you get hit by a missile or its plasma beam you will automatically die, so be sure not to get hit.

File R-01: Mistral

Out of all the Desperado's, Mistral can be considered the easiest as she's not particularly strong or skillful. She also has 3 phases to her fight, with the transition to each phase earning you a checkpoint. So you have plenty of room for error if going for a No Damage run. One last thing about Mistral is you can disarm her by either hitting her enough times and then using Blade Mode to break her staff. This process can be sped up by using Ripper Mode. When disarmed she tries to dodge more than attack, but she's not helpless.

[spoiler=mistralv]

Attacks

Dwarf Gekkos - Mistral has an infinite supply of Dwarf Gekkos during her fight. They have all combat abilities of all Dwarf Gekkos.

Gekko Toss - (Only when disarmed) Mistral will pick up one of the Dwarf Gekkos and throw it at you. You can parry this and if close enough, a Just-Defend will hurt Mistral immensely.

Gekko Shoot - (Only when disarmed) Mistral will retreat out of reach and before remaking her staff, she'll shoot Dwarf Gekkos at you. You can either run/jump or get right under her to dodge them.

Combo Attacks - Mistral will use her lance and swing at you. You can parry these, just be sure to parry every single attack she sends or you'll take a hit.

Vertical Bounce - Mistral will turn horizontal and bounce across the area with her weapon perpendicular to the ground. This can be parried, however it can strike multiple time in rapid secession, so I recommend merely dodging.

Dive Kick - Mistral will jump up in the air, then come down at an angle. This can be parried and is easy to mitigate.

Ground Wave - Mistral will hit the ground and it'll rupture in a wave as it come towards you. This can be parried but can strike multiple times in rapid secession. Mistral also has massive recovery times after this move so I recommend dodging.

Exploding Barrels - This is only during the third phase. There are barrels scattered around the area and they will blow up when attacked. If you're close to them when they blow up you will take damage, so be careful where she stands when you fight her.

Fighting

Mistral is relatively simple to fight, if this is your first time through you won't have as many methods, but she'll still be manageable. Simply attack her until she staggers and you get a blade mode prompt. You can either keep striking her or use blade mode to disarm her. Either way, she is more vulnerable as even if you don't break her staff, she'll routinely stagger more often. Watch out for the Gekkos as you fight her. If you're on New Game + you can use her own staff to control the Gekkos and use Ripper Mode to force her into a stagger much faster. When she's down to ~75% she'll grab you, activate blade mode and cut her staff or take damage as you transition into phase 2.

Phase 2 is much like Phase 1 but you're fighting on a 2D space. She can start doing her dive kick attack here as well. Just keep up your defense and strike her when you can. When she's down to ~50% she'll try to attack you, perform the quicktime event or take damage as you transition into phase 3.

Now you're in phase 3 you need to watch out for the barrels in the area and when she does the ground wave attack. The barrels are hard to avoid as you can't move them and the smallest attack will set them off. When she does her ground wave attack she has massive recovery times, use those to damage her when she's defenseless. Once she's down to ~10% you'll have one more quicktime event to get through and then she'll be down for good.

File R-03: Monsoon

Monsoon is one of the most annoying fights in the game, especially when going for a No Damage run. This is due to him being able to attack quickly, the many scripted events he has during his fight, and the lone checkpoint being after you defeated him. Out of all the bosses he has the highest learning curve and you'll feel it when you fight him for your first time.

[spoiler=monsoonv]

Attacks

Combos - Monsoon has two different combos with his Sai, the only difference is the timing on a few of the attack. They have almost 10 attacks per combo, so be fast with your parry's or you'll take hits.

Launcher Kick - Monsoon will get low to the ground and then kick you up in the air, afterwards he'll combo you mid-air. On the harder difficulties he'll change location while low to the ground so be careful and parry when you see him get low.

Just 4 Kicks - Monsoon will get close and instead of using his Sai he will do 3 rapid kicks before finishing off with a fourth kick. It is also possible for Monsoon to just do the big kick by itself.

Dive Slash - Monsoon will jump in the air before coming down at you. This is simple to parry.

Smoke Bomb - Monsoon will throw smoke bombs to blanket the area. This is unblockable and can be dodged by jumping or running away from Monsoon. His telegraph for this attack is him spinning his Sai in the air and holstering them before he grabs the bombs on his belt. When the area is covered in smoke, Monsoon will rush you from various angles and attack, sometimes he'll jump while other times he'll just run at you. You need to count his attacks, he'll do 9 or 10 attacks in the smoke before it clear. Also, if his final attack is a simple ground attack there is a chance he'll use that first attack to start off a combo, so be ready to parry multiple times.

Vehicle Toss - At scripted times based on his health, Monsoon will jump out of reach and use his magnetic powers to throw vehicles at you. You can either evade these, or use Blade Mode to destroy the vehicles as they're thrown at you. Keep in mind he will always throw two sets of vehicles at you every time he retreats, and with each successive throw he'll add an extra vehicle to his grouping. If you choose to slice the vehicles, do your best to slice all of them; as even if some look like they'll go past you, they can explode and damage you.

Lorentz Force - This is much like his vehicle toss, but more brutal; he'll retreat but this time summon a huge cluster of vehicles and other things in a giant clump, and instead of throwing it, he'll roll it across the ground at you. This is easy to dodge, just stay as far away as possible and run either left or right to dodge. Be sure you're in the corner of the area and only start running after the object has touched the ground, he can change its trajectory before then. You also need to watch out for the exploding barrels falling from the projectile, staying in the corner until he's ready to shoot it helps ensure you won't get hit by any of them.

Super Charged

After using his Vehicle Toss or Lorentz Force attacks, Monsoon will become charged and he'll gain a few more attacks. You can always tell when he's charged as he'll have a purple aura and any melee attack you send will be dodged by his body separating. There are two ways to handle him while he's charged; hit his main section with a EM grenade, or just-defend him when he gets close for an attack. With this he'll be stunned and you'll be prompted to blade mode, hit his head to negate his charge. It is important to realize, you cannot hurt him while he's charged.

Sai / Leg Extension - When charged his basic attack will be to send his sai and later his legs to you. Each section will perform 4 attacks before retreating. You can just-defend each section to get it to drop early. If you're far enough away from his main body, you can hit it with a EM grenade before it closes in for its combo attack.

Combo - After he tries his Sai / Leg attack, Monsoon will move in for a basic combo like he has when he's not charged. This is a perfect opportunity to just-defend.

Body Tornado - Monsoon will have his body float in multiple sections and rush you. Simply parry them to negate the attack.

Body Shoot - Monsoon will have his body float in multiple sections, but will shoot them at you. These can be parried but they come very fast and so simply dodging them is the best course of action.

Fighting

Monsoon is no easy task without any experience, he moves fast and he attacks fast, so you need to be ready for what he'll send at you. Feel free to hit him whenever he gets close, but always watch his movements so you don't eat a smoke bomb or his launcher kick. There will also be plenty of times the fight will get interrupted because it is heavily scripted with him getting at least 3 vehicle tosses and 2 lorentz force attacks in before he dies; it's more on the higher difficulties. You may also find yourself fighting the camera as it likes to hover and change position, especially during his combos which can make parrying all his attacks a pain. The biggest problem I find is you will have to put up with his super charged state at least once. After his vehicle toss he's open enough for a quick EM grenade to stun him; however, after a lorentz force you'll be in a cutscene and he'll already start his sai attack. His first opening is after his legs come to attack, parry those and before his floating body gets to you, hit it with an EM grenade. There's really nothing much to say aside from it's a serious skill check and the only checkpoint is before the quicktime even to finish him off. The quicktime event will come after he reaches 10% and does a lorentz force attack.

File R-04: Sundowner

Luckily Sundowner is nowhere near as difficult as Monsoon was, in terms of skill or insanity. He does have a unique mechanic, but I prefer to ignore it as it keeps him more controllable.

[spoiler=sundownerv]

Attacks

Helicopter - Sundowner has a helicopter for support, it has machineguns and missiles like all enemy helicopters do. It can be shot down with a single Stinger missile (on all difficulties) but will come back within a minute or so. If you can keep the helicopter off your screen it won't attack, so deal with it as you will.

Combos - Sundowner has a few basic melee combos with his swords, nothing too complicated to parry.

Armor Rush - Sundowner will put his reactive armor up and rush at you. Parry this and go through the quicktime event to knock him off-balance. When prompted to go into Blade Mode you can cut the arms holding his armor, be careful not to strike his armor though.

Armor Backhand - Sundowner will swing at you with the armor plates on the side you're on. This will only happen if you're not in front but to the read/side of him. Easy to parry.

Armor Back-attack - Sundowner will swing at you with all armor plates to his back. This will only happen if you're directly on his back. East to parry.

Charged Rush - Sundowner will charge for a moment or two before rushing forward and hitting you very hard. This is easily telegraphed and can be dodged or jumped over.

Fighting

Fighting Sundowner isn't that difficult as he's not as fast or nimble as Monsoon was. He usually opens up with his armor rush, so parry it and go through the quicktime event to knock him off balance, I personally do not recommend cutting his armor panels off as he becomes more reliant on melee attacks when they're missing. If you're concerned about the helicopter, go ahead and shoot it with a stinger to remove it, just be aware another one will be back. If you let him keep the armor panels on, he'll be more willing to use them for attacks and he can't combo with them. The one draw back to leaving the armor panels up is you need to be careful when attacking him. If you ever strike the armor panels when they're up, you'll take damage; to get around this you can circle around to his back and wail on him until he staggers or retreats, from there be careful because he will put his armor up if you keep attacking. If you wish to cut his armor off, you can do so by parrying his armor rush, or simply approaching him and using blade mode when he has his armor panels up. You'll need to hit all boxes to stagger him and from there cut the arms holding the panels. Be aware that once the panels come off he will be a lot more aggressive with his swords. Whichever way you end up fighting him, once you knock him down to 10% you'll earn a checkpoint and go to the second half of the fight.

This is nothing but a short rail-shooter segment. The safest place to be is in the lower right and from there you just need to mash :square: to take out any obstacles that will be in your way. Once you reach the end, you'll have to blade mode and slice up the ceiling. From there you'll have one more quicktime event and then the boss fight will be over.

File R-06: Samuel (Jetstream Sam)

Sam is the only fight and the entirety of mission R-06. Overall I'd put him in the middle of all the bosses, he's not difficult like Monsoon, but isn't on the level of Mistral or Sundowner.

[spoiler=samv]

Attacks

Combos - Sam has variations of a 4-hit combo, each one has different timing and as such require different timing for your parry.

Iado Slash - Sam will sheath his sword and when he draws, many slice marks will appear all around his body. This is easy to parry as anytime he sheathes his sword, he's planning to attack.

Kick - Sam will deliver a quick kick to Raiden's head. The telegraph is almost non-existant and this is one of two attacks he prefers if you disarm him, be very careful if you disarm him.

Momentum Throw (only when disarmed) - If you disarm Sam he'll charge you and try to throw you. This is simple to parry as the attack is very noticeable.

One-Two-Three - Sam will charge at you and give a powerful hit as he runs past you, he'll then turn around and do it again, and then one more time. You'll have to parry each strike he gives, nothing too difficult.

Jump Slash - Sam will jump up in the air and come slashing down at you. This is easy enough to parry when he's far away, but when up close the camera will swing wildly and can make parrying it difficult.

Rock Throw - Sam will stick his sword in the ground and throw a few rocks at you. You cannot block them, however you can use blade mode to get rid of them. You can also simply dodge them. He does this once he gets below 45%, be careful when attacking as this has very little startup and you can eat the hit.

Charged Stab - Sam will sheath his sword and charge up before rushing at you. A simple jump is enough to dodge this. This attack has the same startup as his charge slash, just different attack animations.

Charged Slash - Sam will sheath his sword and charge up before rushing at you. A simple jump is enough to dodge this. This attack has the same startup as his charge stab, just different attack animations.

Command Counter - This is a very rare attack to see and it only works if you attack him. If you ever see Sam put his sword in front of his face and it glows yellow, DO NOT ATTACK. If you do, he'll automatically counter-attack you.

Fighting

Fighting Same can take some time to learn, but he's nothing too dangerous as most of his attacks have noticeable tells. Another good thing about Sam is unlike other bosses, he doesn't avoid just-defends and will eat them if you're able to pull them off; on Revengeance difficulty you can knock off 40% of his health with one. Sam is decent at dodging and blocking your attacks, while there's not much you can do to stop him from dodging, you can use Ripper Mode to break through his guard. If you ever get him to kneel down you can launch him into the air and then air combo him as well. The big change in the fight comes when Sam reaches ~60%, he'll start rushing you and when you parry you'll be prompted to go into Blade Mode. Your target will be his right hand and if you slash it, you'll disarm him. I personally do not like disarming him as he begins to dodge more and he starts kicking a lot, the kick has very little telegraph and comes out fast so you'll need to buffer a parry into your attacks just to protect yourself. At 45% he'll grab his sword (or not) and start using a few more attacks. One being his jump slash which can be a pain to parry if he activates it up close; the other being the rock throw, which again can be a pain when up close. Keep your defense up and attack him when you can, at 5% you'll go into a short quicktime event and finish him off.

File R-07: Metal Gear Excelsus

Metal Gear Celsus is one of two bosses in the final mission of the game. While it's nothing too difficult, it can be taxing to get all the way through with a No Damage run. Many of its attacks can be parried, but unlike other boss attacks you'll still take damage during the parry.

Attacks

Double Arm Smash - Excelsus will raise both arms into the air and bring them down on you. Run left or right to dodge.

Quick Double Arm Smash - Excelsus will raise both arms and quickly bring them down on you. Don't start running until you see the glint signaling its attack. You may have to slide to dodge as this attack is very fast.

Single Arm Smash - Excelsus will try to smash you with one of its arms one at a time, it'll do four strikes total. Just run left or right to dodge each attack.

Double Arm Sweep - Excelsus will position both arms horizontally and sweep across the area. Ninja run towards the blades and Raiden will jump through them.

Single Arm Sweep - Excelsus will swing only one arm horizontally across the area. Simply jump over the arm as it moves.

Leg Stomp - Excelsus will raise its leg in the air and try to step on you. Don't run until the leg stops moving to signal it'll be coming down. If you insist on running, Celsus is track your movements and step on you regardless. You can completely avoid it by running to the far side of the area from where the leg is coming from.

Leg Sweep - Excelsus will drag its leg across the area in a wide sweeping motion. The only way to avoid this attack is by standing in a safe spot. The safe spot from its right leg (when facing you) is to the far right and close to the foreground, the safe spot from its left leg (when facing you) is right up in front of Excelsus.

Plasma Beams - Excelsus will either do a vertical sweep or a horizontal sweep with its beams. Move left/right to avoid the vertical sweeps and don't stand close to its horizontal sweeps.

Gekkos - Excelsus will summon Gekkos to assist it during combat, it will summon when it starts the plasma beam attacks. You can use the Excelsus' own attacks to destroy the Gekkos. You need to be careful about engaging the Gekkos as not every quicktime event gives you invincibility frames and can lead to you taking hits.

Fighting

Excelsus follows a simple pattern of combat believe it or not. It will always start with a series of its arm attacks; use any opening during these attacks to hit the arms and damage them. After pulling his arms away Excelsus will shift so its right leg will be in the area. You can use hit and run tactics on its leg, though Ripper Mode into Blade Mode and swinging wildly is good for damage with minimal risk. Once it's down to ~70% you'll be prompted to Blade Mode, doing so will have one of its legs be cut off and you'll earn a checkpoint.

Excelsus will fall and you'll be able to approach its head and wail on it for a while before it stands up. It will then summon Gekkos and perform its beam attacks. Use the beam attacks to destroy the Gekkos to make this part easy for you. After it's done with its beam attacks it will go into another series of arm attacks before pulling its left leg out and repeat the same process. Once you've damaged the left leg enough you can use blade mode to cut it off. From here the fight will end after a series of quicktime events.

File R-07: Senator Armstrong

Senator Armstrong is the final fight and has 3 phases, with each transition earning you a checkpoint. If you are going for a No Damage run, this can be a little difficult and I advise to backup your save with each new checkpoint; especially when you reach Phase 2, as any damage can knock you into Phase 3 and force the checkpoint on you.

[spoiler=armstrongv]

Phase 1 - Attacks

Attacks - Armstrong has a multitude of attacks he'll do one at a time; just various punches and kicks.

Combos - Armstrong has a 4-hit combo, the attacks are based on his individual attacks.

Rush Punch/Kick - Armstrong will rush forward really fast and punch or kick you. Look for when he crouches down to show he'll be rushing.

Backfist - Armstrong will spin around with a closed fist, this is his main attack if you ever get on his back.

Hammerfist - Armstrong will crouch and slowly raise his hand over his head before bringing it down with a stomp. This attack has a very long telegraph and hits a wide area around Armstrong. You can run away from it, but you can also parry it.

Energy Burst - Armstrong will glow yellow while standing in one place and release a burst of energy. This cannot be blocked so simply run away from him.

Pursuit Grab - Armstrong will glow yellow and then chase you for a bit and if he gets you he'll throw you. This isn't too hard to avoid and can be jumped over, but jumping right away is dangerous as Armstrong will follow you into the air and still throw you.

Phase 1 - Fighting

Fighting Armstrong isn't too difficult, though the small area can make this fight annoying. Phase 1 doesn't last too long, you just need to knock him down to about 97% and you'll enter Phase 2 and earn a checkpoint.

If you are going for a No Damage run, I strongly advise exiting the game and backing up your save once you earn the checkpoint between Phase 1 and Phase 2. Do it, RIGHT NOW!

Phase 2 - Attacks

Everything he had in Phase 1, nothing different.

Phase 2 - Fighting

Raiden is now disarmed and while he can punch and kick, doing so it not advised as Raiden's punch/kicks are sluggish. It is also dangerous as without a sword, you will take damage if you parry; if you want a No Damage run, you will have to wait a certain amount of time without getting hit (90 seconds on Easy to 160 seconds on Revengeance). What makes this difficult is after 60 seconds, any unblocked damage you take will force you into Phase 3 and give a checkpoint; so if you're adamant about earning a No Damage run, it is prudent to have your save backed up, otherwise you'll have to go through the entire level again just to get another attempt.

If you're not interested in earning a No Damage run and just want to progress, go ahead and knock Armstrong down to about 99.2% and then take a few hits. At worst you'll have to get your life down to 0.1%. If you're not on Very Hard or Revengeance, Armstrong won't be able to kill you.

Phase 3 - Attacks

Everything he had in Phase 1/2 and everything listed below.

Fire Net - Armstrong will charge up then punch the ground, afterwards veins of fire will spread across the ground. Stand between the veins of fire to avoid the explosion, but also be ready to parry his simultaneous charge attack.

Blast Waves - Armstrong will charge up then punch the ground, afterwards two blastwaves will shoot out from his, both are 180 degrees opposite of the other. He can shoot two blasts with a single charge, so just because you dodged one doesn't mean you're safe.

Fire Walls - Armstrong will charge up then punch the ground, afterwards two big blastwaves will move in a pincer formation and divide the area into sections. Understand that the blastwaves don't move in straight lines but arc. You can't go through the firewalls once they're up either, so you just have to wait for them to die down. An easy to avoid this attack is once you see Armstrong charging up, run behind him.

Building Toss - These attacks are somewhat scripted to the amount of health Armstrong has left. He'll retreat from the battle, jump onto the Excelsus wreckage and throw massive pieces of rock at you. There are two ways to handle this; you can either ninja run forward to dodge, or you can use Blade Mode to slash the projectiles as they're thrown at you. If you choose to slash, you'll have to cut at least 3 buildings and then hit Armstrong and you'll be rewarded with a good amount of damage. However, if you fail to slice any part, you'll take massive damage instead. A good thing to note is the cutting angles are always the same regardless.

Building Toss (extended) - This is identical to the regular building toss but is scripted to happen when Armstrong is almost dead. Instead of three projectiles there are 6 projectiles and the cutting angles are vastly different.

Quicktime Charge - Armstrong will power up then charge you and activate a quicktime event which will go one of two ways. One way, Armstrong will punch you and then try to jump on you; activate the quicktime event to counter him immediately. The other way it'll go is he'll miss his attack and you'll be able to do more damage to him but will have to press more buttons. Regardless of how it goes, you'll have to pick up your sword when it's over. Picking up your sword can be dangerous as if he's readying an attack, it can come out immediately after you claim your sword and you won't be able to dodge.

Quicktime Charge (finale) - Armstrong's death also starts from a quicktime charge when he's near death ~20%. It's different and longer than either of the regular attacks he has, so when you get there congratulations.

Life Regain - Armstrong will turn his entire body grey with a green aura around him and will steadily regain life. Any unfocused attack you send his way will prompt him to counter-attack. To cancel out this attack, get on his back and hit the weak spot in Blade Mode. Be warned that if you miss in Blade Mode, he'll catch your sword and get an automatic counter-attack, so do not miss.

Phase 3 - Fighting

Armstrong almost always starts out with his Blastwave attack, be sure to dodge both waves if he decides to do two waves, from there he usually does his Fire Net attack. However, after that his attacks are completely random. Your distance from him doesn't seem to coax him into using certain attacks more or less and you'll just have to feel your way through this fight. Don't get too carried away and mash attacks as you may end up eating one of his own. At certain intervals of his life, he'll retreat to throw parts of a building at you, you can either dodge or slice through these; I prefer slicing as it puts more damage on him. Whenever you see him charge, you should stay moving and get on his back if possible; moving will ensure the blastwaves won't hit and being on his back can protect you from not getting boxed in by his firewalls. If you do get boxed in just play it safe until they go down, you don't want to have him do his energy burst or pursuit throw while your area is a lot smaller. Once you get his life down to ~20% you'll be in the range to finish him off; he should do one more charge attack and from there it'll be a series of blade modes and quicktime events to kill him.

VR Missions

The VR Missions are selected from the main menu, but only after finding and accessing a VR terminal in the main storyline. Suffice to say, to earn either of the VR Mission trophies, you must have found and accessed all 20 VR Terminals. Please see Analysis Complete or the Collectibles Guide for details on the locations of every VR Terminal.

VR Mission 01

Goal: Eliminate all enemies.

Time: 00:40.00

Enemies: Cyborg x7, Gekko x1

Tactics

The first wave being 3 cyborgs immediately rush in and use Blade Mode to destroy all of them at once. Do not Zandatsu, but use the staff weapon to regain your energy bar; do this by hitting them before their bodies blow up. Once all 3 are down, run back to where you started this mission.

If you're far enough away the Gekko should immediately start its charge attack, if it does this run forward and parry it as close to it as possible. After the quicktime event activate the execution to finish it off. Upon landing Blade Mode the two melee based cyborgs. Now rush to the two rifle based cyborgs; use the staff to regain your energy if needed then quickly Blade Mode to finish them off. This mission is tight on time but isn't impossible.

VR Mission 02

Goal: Eliminate all enemies via Ninja Kill.

Time: 00:40.00

Enemies: Cyborg x5

Tactics

You need to Ninja Kill every enemy in this mission and so you cannot be seen. One important thing to remember when performing a Ninja Kill is there's a long animation for each kill. You can cancel out of the animation by clicking :l1: to enter Blade Mode.

At the start of the mission run forward and assassinate the cyborg in front of you. Now activate AR mode and look left, when the guard isn't looking your way; run up the steps in front of you and assassinate the guard at the top. From there, assassinate the guard below you. Now Ninja Run up the platform in front of you and assassinate the cyborg at the top there. Now find the cyborg below you and assassinate him to finish the mission.

VR Mission 003

Goal: Arrive at the specified waypoint.

Time: 00:15.00

Enemies: Cyborg x4

Tactics

This mission doesn't require combat so don't concern yourself with attacking any of the enemies along the path. Just hold down :r1: to Ninja Run and follow the platforms to the back of the area to the waypoint. None of the cyborgs have RPG's so they are no threat to you.

VR Mission 004

Goal: Eliminate all enemies via Zandatsu.

Time: 01:00.00

Enemies: Cyborg x1, Custom Cyborg x1, Gekko x1

Tactics

There are three waves to this mission, each one with only one enemy each. The first wave is a basic cyborg, so just rush in and Zandatsu him. The second wave is a Custom Cyborg, the easiest way I have dealing with these is to repeatedly just-defend them until its guard breaks. Once its guard is broken you can Execute into a Zandatsu or just Zandatsu it. The third wave is a Gekko, the quickest way to fight a Gekko is to run away from it so it'll do its charge attack. Once it charges, parry, quicktime event, execute, then Zandatsu to put it down.

VR Mission 005

Goal: Eliminate all enemies using the supplied sub-weapon.

Time: 01:30.00

Enemies: Dwarf Gekko x53

Tactics

There is no easy way about this mission, you have to kill all the Dwarf Gekkos using nothing but hand grenades; so you must have a command of the weapon, otherwise this will be very difficult. The only good thing I can tell you is the enemies will spawn in the same order so you can make notes on where the next wave will appear.

The first wave is made of three groups; two groups are circling the pillars to the left and right of the target area, the third group is in the middle of the target area.

The second wave is made of two groups; one is circling the front right pillar in the middle area, while the second is circling the back left pillar of the middle area.

The third wave has two groups that form a little off from the pillars but quickly form around them; these are the pillars to the left and right of the middle area. The group on the left pillar forms first, so they should be your first target.

The fourth wave spawns from the pillar to the far left and they train around the area circling the pillar to the right of the middle area.

VR Mission 006

Goal: Arrive at the specified waypoint without being detected.

Time: 00:15.00

Enemies: Cyborg x3

Tactics

This is another waypoint mission, but you cannot be seen by the 3 cyborgs in the area. From the start of the mission go forward and immediately left. Hug the wall and turn right, if you do not hug the wall the cyborg may see you. If you want, you can wait for him to walk away; move to where he was and assassinate him. Go forward via the way he was looking, then turn left and assassinate the cyborg. Now turn right and reach the waypoint.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWkeyIRlRSc]Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance - VR Mission 006 (Gold) - YouTube[/ame]

VR Mission 007

Goal: Eliminate all enemies.

Time: 04:00.00

Enemies: Cyborg x9, Custom Cyborg x3, Dwarf Gekko x6, Gekko x2, Vodomjerka x1,

Tactics

This mission consists of 4 waves and can be a little difficult for the underpracticed. The first wave is simply 5 cyborgs, 3 are melee centric while 2 are RPG centric. Simply rush in and blade mode them down. Remember you can use the staff weapon on their dismembered bodies to regain energy.

The second wave is 4 cyborgs with dual swords and one Vodomjerka (water strider). The cyborgs aren't anything too difficult but they will rush you. The Vodomjerka is the main problem as its melee attacks require fast parrying and its flamethrower is unblockable. The easiest way to handle the Vodomjerka is to get a just-defend on its melee strikes then go into an execute.

The third wave is 3 custom cyborgs and this can be a bit of a problem; they're all aggressive and can easily overpower you. However, if you're proficient at getting a just-defend on them you can easily take them out as a just-defend is a powerful counter-attack with massive invincibility frames. If you can't get a just-defend off, jump in the air and press :triangle: twice with the staff equipped. The second attack will have you slam into the ground and should hit all of them and knock them down, from here you can single one out.

The fourth wave is 6 Dwarf Gekkos and 2 Gekkos. This isn't too complicated as Dwarf Gekkos are more of a nuisance and Gekkos are easy enough to dispose of. Get some distance between you and the Gekkos to coax at least one of them into rushing, parry, quicktime event, execute, and zandatsu to finish it. With one Gekko down, simply repeat the process to take the other one down. Mop up any remaining Dwarf Gekkos to complete the mission.

VR Mission 008

Goal: Eliminate all enemies via Ninja Kill.

Time: 00:50.00

Enemies: Cyborg x5

Tactics

This mission isn't too difficult once put into perspective, the area is a giant figure 8 and you start off in the lower-left corner. So from here move right and assassinate the cyborg, look left and wait for the cyborg to look away, once he has move north and assassinate him. From there you continue north and assassinate the cyborg there. Now turn left and in the next room assassinate the cyborg. Now head south and hug the left side wall to not be seen by the cyborg in the next room, now assassinate it. From here turn left, in the next room turn right, in that room turn right again. You're now in the area where you started, move north and assassinate your last target.

VR Mission 009

Goal: Arrive at the specified waypoint.

Time: 00:20.00

Enemies: Cyborg x4, Dwarf Gekko x6

Tactics

This mission can be a pain and may take some luck but isn't too difficult. From the start move forward and turn right, ninja run up to the third floor, now turn left and jump off the platform to bypass a cyborg. Head right and notice the miscolored wall, slice your way through it. There are 3 RPG troopers here and can ruin your attempts to get through. Ninja run up the path and slice through the wall blocking you way then drop down and reach the waypoint.

VR Mission 010

Goal: Eliminate all enemies via Zandatsu.

Time: 01:20.00

Enemies: Cyborg x9

Tactics

This mission isn't too hard as long as you remember to bait the RPG cyborgs before approaching them. The enemies in this mission come in three waves; the first wave is 2 cyborgs that rely on basic rifles. They stand on the first big platform you see at the start of the mission.

The second wave consists of 3 cyborgs that rely on rifles. One cyborg stands on the big platform in the middle of the area, while the other two stand on each side of the platform.

The final wave consists of 4 cyborgs, 3 of which rely on RPG's. They all spawn near the back of the area and are not too difficult to take out, just remember to bait them into firing before you approach them. If you do not bait them into firing you risk getting hit and falling into the lower levels and that will eat up time. Finish off the final wave to complete this mission.

VR Mission 011

Goal: Arrive at the specified waypoint without being detected.

Time: 00:25.00

Enemies: Cyborg x3, Turret Camera x13

Tactics

This mission may look difficult but isn't. From the start activate AR mode and jump over the cyborg as he moves in front of you, from there ninja run up to the third floor and jump through the narrow opening. Activate AR mode and turn left to see invisible platforms, use these to reach the final stretch. Drop down and dodge the camera beams and reach the waypoint.

VR Mission 012

Goal: Eliminate all enemies with the supplied sub-weapon.

Time: 02:30.00

Enemies: Cyborg x4, Slides x4, Gekko x5

Tactics

This mission is very easy, you're on a platform with constantly respawning Stinger missiles and need to shoot down the enemies that appear. Enemies come in three waves; 2 Cyborgs w/Slides and a Gekko, 2 Cyborgs w/Slides, and finally 4 Gekkos. The easiest method for this mission is just choose a side, stand where the Stinger respawns and use yourself like a turret. After so many shots you'll be forced off the spawn point, so just reposition yourself and continue shooting until everything is destroyed.

VR Mission 013

Goal: Eliminate all enemies.

Time: 03:30.00

Enemies: Slides x10, Hammerheads x2

Tactics

This mission can be a pain, there are two waves of enemies; the first being 7 Slides and the second being 3 Slides and 2 Hammerheads. The first thing to know is do not waste any of the Stinger Missiles on the Slides. Get as close as you can to the Slides and use Blade Mode to slice them to pieces, if you can get the Slides grouped up all the better as you can kill multiple of them at once. Once the first wave is down, focus on killing the three Slides before you attack the Helos. To destroy the Helos, pick one and shoot it with a Stinger to stun it, rush in and attack it till it turns blue, once it's blue use Blade Mode to destroy it. Repeat the Stinger process with the remaining Helo to finish the mission.

VR Mission 014

Goal: Eliminate all enemies via Ninja Kill.

Time: 01:10.00

Enemies: Cyborg x2, Gekko x2, Vodomjerka x2

Tactics

This one is difficult to explain, but at the start turn right and instead of going down the stairs, follow the path to the end, then turn left and jump over the two gaps. The Gekko can see you, so jump towards the long path for the second jump. From here, Ninja Kill the Cyborg Below you. From there tun to where the Gekko was before it moved and take the path to the left, follow the path to a set of stairs going up and kill the Cyborg coming down the stairs. Now drop down to the bottom level and head under the second floor and search for the two Vodomjerkas and assassinate them. Now find a set of stairs and work your way to the second floor, watch the Gekkos movements and assassinate them when you have an opening to finish this mission.

VR Mission 015

Goal: Arrive at the specified waypoint.

Time: 00:30.00

Enemies: Cyborg x15, GRAD x1

Tactics

This mission is short but can be very frustrating. Be sure to have no sub-weapon equipped, now at the start turn right and use your Dive Kick (in air: forward forward :triangle:) and hit the enemy on the platform across from you. Now turn right and while dodging the enemy rockets, follow the path to the left and climb up the path. When you climb up and see the GRAD, JUMP (don't drop) onto the next platform to dodge the enemy rockets. Run towards the GRAD and climb up on one of its sides. Climb up and run around the area to bait the RPG Cyborgs into firing and then quickly climb up and reach the waypoint.

VR Mission 016

Goal: Eliminate all enemies.

Time: 02:30.00

Enemies: Cyborgs x12, Dwarf Gekko x20, GRAD x1, Heavy Cyborg x5

Tactics

This mission is very simple, enemies come in 5 waves and you shouldn't have a problem with any of them. At the start of the mission jump on the turret and kill the 7 Cyborgs that are coming at you. When the second wave of 5 Cyborgs spawn, shoot them down as well. The next wave is the 20 Dwarf Gekkos and they're easy to deal with. After that you'll have to deal with the 5 Heavy Cyborgs, while they take more damage they're spread out enough where one shouldn't even reach you. The final wave is a GRAD and while it is powerful, you can take plenty of hits and should be able to put it down quickly to finish the mission.

VR Mission 017

Goal: Eliminate all enemies using the supplied sub-weapon.

Time: 03:30.00

Enemies: Cyborg x11, Dwarf Gekko x11, Gekko x1, Raptor x2

Tactics

The difficult part of this mission is it being a sub-weapon only mission, you cannot use your sword, not even to parry so your defense options are severely limited. From the start attack the first two wave of enemies, which is a total of 7 Cyborgs. Once all of them are down, approach the ramp and when the wall clears, shoot the Dwarf Gekkos running up the path.

Head up the path and immediately turn left or right, there are two RPG Cyborgs on the upper level and sticking to one side will stop the one on the opposite side from shooting you. Once you're on that side, wait for the RPG Cyborg to shoot then shoot him to knock him back. This will ensure you're safe from RPG's while you deal with the two Cyborgs on the ground. Once the two Cyborgs on the ground are dealt with, deal with the remaining Dwarf Gekkos and the two RPG Cyborgs, then head to the back of the area to reach the third fight.

This fight can be a pain and I suggest taking out the Gekko first, the reason being you can't parry and if it does its charge attack it can put serious hurt on you. Once the Gekko is taken out you can focus on the Raptors. The Raptors are annoying as a Stinger Missile can completely miss them by passing through their legs. The Raptors are also fast at moving and attacking so I'd suggest using the sub-weapon quick use; press :l2: and :square: at the same time. The most dangerous part is when one of the Raptors die, the other will berserk. If you do not kill the berserked Raptor fast enough it can kill you quickly. If you can't, do your best to avoid its attacks until it calms down and then finish it off.

VR Mission 018

Goal: Eliminate all enemies.

Time: 10:00.00

Enemies: Dwarf Gekko x20, Fenrir x2, Gekko x1, GRAD x1, Heavy Cyborg x2, Mastiff x2

Tactics

This mission can be extremely difficult as it is set on Revengeance difficulty which means almost everything can kill you in one hit; there are also 5 waves of enemies, some easy, some not so easy, it's all based on your personal skill level. The first wave is nothing hard with 1 Gekko and 6 Dwarf Gekkos. Simply bait the Gekko into charging you, take it out, then take out the Dwarf Gekkos as you see fit.

The second wave consists of 4 Dwarf Gekkos and 2 Mastiffs. The Mastiffs are the biggest threat as anything they do can kill you in one hit. The best method for killing them it using a just-defend to counter one of their attacks and from there go into an execution before finally killing it. From there you can do the same to the second Mastiff. The hard part is learning the timing for each of their attacks as they don't always do the same attacks at the start of the wave. Once the Mastiffs are down, take out any remaining Dwarf Gekkos.

The third wave is by far the most difficult with 7 Dwarf Gekkos, 2 Heavy Cyborgs, and 1 Fenrir. The Fenrir is the biggest problem as it's the most mobile and has ranged attacks, the good news is the ranged attacks can be blocked by a Heavy Cyborg, the very good news is if the Fenrir does its knife throw attack, it can put a Heavy Cyborg into a stun to where you can immediately Zandatsu it. The main thing to keep in mind when fighting this group is do not let anything flank you; the Dwarf Gekkos will jump on and immobilize you while the Heavy Cyborgs can kill you in one hit. The easiest way to handle this group is focus on the Fenrir with hit and run tactics until you can finish it off. I advise using the Staff weapon as it will protect your back from any Dwarf Gekkos trying to flank you. Once the Fenrir is down you can focus on the Heavy Cyborgs. If you're competent at just-defending their attacks I'd advise to do that. If not, you can use the Sai weapon to stun them and from there you can attack the Heavy Cyborg until it regains its composure. If you can get past this phase you should have no problem handling what's left.

The fourth wave is a joke with 3 Dwarf Gekkos, handle them.

The fifth wave is a lone GRAD, no Dwarf Gekkos to annoy you. The easiest way to combat a GRAD is to stay right up in its face. This will protect you from its machineguns, cannon, and homing missiles; even if it fires its homing missiles, they won't be able to hit you if you're up in its face. Once you get up in its face, watch its body and be ready to parry any melee attack it sends your way. A single attack can kill you, so be sure you parry everything it sends at you, you do not want to fail here. Once the GRAD goes down this mission will be over.

VR Mission 019

Goal: Eliminate all enemies via Zandatsu.

Time: 10:00.00

Enemies: Custom Cyborg x2, Fenrir x6, Heavy Cyborg x2

Tactics

This mission isn't as difficult as the last one, but can be frustrating based on your skill level. Like the last mission that took place in this stage, there are three waves, each wave being in its own area. Wave 1 is just one Fenrir, this is nothing too difficult just stay on it and block its attacks and be sure to finish it off with a Zandatsu. When it's down, head up the path to the next wave.

In this wave you'll have to fight 2 Custom Cyborgs, 2 Heavy Cyborgs and 1 Fenrir; the Fenrir will not engage you until two of the Cyborgs are down. The easiest way I had for this was to just-defend the Custom Cyborgs until I break their guard, then go into an execute to zandatsu to finish them off. When the Fenrir comes down I prefer to separate it from the Heavy Cyborgs and destroy it. Once it's down it's best to focus on one Heavy and use hit and run tactics until you can zandatsu it and then put it down. With one Heavy down, focus on the other, and when it's down move on up to the third wave.

The third wave is nothing too difficult with 4 Fenrirs. This isn't hard as the Fenrirs are not too aggressive, they do attack but they don't swarm you with non-stop attacks. Just focus on one at a time, take'em down one by one and when the final one is down this mission will be over.

VR Mission 020

Goal: Arrive at the specified waypoint without being detected.

Time: 00:20.00

Enemies: Cyborgs x3, Gekko x2, Turret Camera x4

Tactics

This mission isn't difficult as long as you can get the one hard part behind you, also be sure you have no alternate weapon equipped. From the start of the mission, move forward and take the second left-hand path then turn right, look up and there should be a cyborg on the upper level. Get close to under it, but while being able to see the targeting reticule, now jump and use the dash attack (forward forward :triangle:) and if you were positioned right, you'll dash up to the upper level. Run past the cyborg you used and head for the waypoint, watch out for the last cyborg and the two camera beams and enter the waypoint to clear the mission.

Revengeance S-Rank Guide

This is a supplement and step-by-step process for how to obtain all S Ranks and ultimate earn the Becoming a Lightning God trophy. To start off, the first thing you need to know is you have to go through every single ranked battle in the game and earn an S Rank in all of them. If you earn less than an S Rank or even miss one ranked battle, you will not earn an S Rank. Every ranked battle gives you a rank based on points, while the points are based on your statistics for the battle.

While a S Rank requires you to get top marks in all applicable fields, there are two ways to earn extra points which help supplement your score; the two ways are No Damage and No Kill. No Kill can be the easier method as it requires you to use a non-lethal weapon, but isn't available in every ranked battle so it's unreliable. No Damage can be the harder method, however it can be earned in every ranked battle.

S Ranks are based upon points that are awarded across 7 criteria fields. 5 fields are usually mandatory while the remaining 2 are simply bonuses for specific actions. When reading this guide you will be told the criteria for maximum points and how many points is required for an S rank.

The 5 criteria are

Time - How long it took you to finish the battle.

BP - How much BP you earned during the fight; collecting items, dismembering enemies, getting Zandatsu's and a high combo rating all help earn BP.

Zandatsu - How many enemies you finished off with a Zandatsu.

Combo - How high of a combo you achieved.

Kills - How many enemies YOU killed. Enemies killed by other enemies or enemies non-fatally removed do not count.

The 2 bonus criteria are

No Damage - Clear the entire battle without taking any damage.

No Kills - Clear the entire battle without killing a single enemy. Wood and Stun weapon are ideal here.

Below are other aspects to take in to make your S Rank run easier.

Weapon Selection

There are various weapons you can unlock as you play the game. The majority recognized "Best Weapon" is the Muramasa. You earn this weapon by beating the game on any difficulty.

Suit Selection

There are various body skins you can unlock via completing certain feats in the game or obtaining them via DLC. While most of the suits do not have any effect on combat, the three you can obtain from clearing VR missions do.

Red Suit - Clear 30% of the original 20 VR Missions

Attack x1.15, Defense x0.85, Absorb x1.2, Consume x1.2

Blue Suit - Clear 50% of the original 20 VR Missions

Attack x0.85, Defense x1.1, Absorb x0.8, Consume x1.0

Yellow Suit - Clear 100% of the original 20 VR Missions

Attack x1.0, Defense x1.15, Absorb x1.25, Consume x0.75

Red offers higher attack at the expense of defense and is the better suit when going for Stormbringer, as you shouldn't be getting hit and it lets you kill things faster.

Wig Selection

There are three different wigs you can use that alter Raiden's abilities in combat. You can swap your preferred wig mid-mission after earning a checkpoint if one offers more of an advantage.

Wig A - Collect 10 enemy commander left arms and finish game on Normal.

Gives Raiden infinite sub-weapon ammunition.

Wig B - Collect 20 enemy commander left arms and finish game on Normal.

Gives Raiden infinite Blade Mode energy.

Blade Mode Wig - Collect all 30 enemy commander left arms and finish game on Hard.

Allows Raiden to kill via Blade Mode without weakening the enemy.

Blade Mode Wig makes most non-boss encounters easier as you can easily Blade Mode an enemy without having to weaken it first. Wig B makes bosses easier as with infinite Blade Mode energy you can activate Ripper Mode then enter Blade Mode and wail on the boss with very little reprecussions.

Backup your save

The save file for this game is not locked, if you have access to any form of removable data storage you should use it. There are difficult parts that are a good way into the mission and if you fail you can find yourself failing to earn a sufficient rank. Instead of having to start the mission all over; save before that part, backup that save on an external device, and attempt that part of the game. If you make it, continue forward; if you don't, delete that current file and then replace it with your backup copy to try again.

File: R-00 (Guard Duty)

There are 2 ranked battles in this mission.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sZEXFgo1Lg]Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance - Mission R-00 S Rank (Revengeance Difficulty) - YouTube[/ame]

This mission can be considered one of the toughest as you do not have your more powerful suit and this mission starts out with you being attacked by 3 Cyborgs and 1 Gekko. Be careful not to die, when they're defeated run towards the waypoint. Ignore the Fenrir's and Cyborgs and cut through the fence to reach the first ranked battle.

R-00: Ranked Battle 1

Enemies: Metal Gear RAY x1

Time: 3:00.00 (1000 pts)

No Damage: 1000 pts

S Rank: 1000 pts

This battle isn't too difficult as long as you dodge/parry everything the enemy sends at you. Even if you fail to defeat it under 3 minutes you can still earn an S Rank by earning a No Damage bonus.

See the Boss Data for tips on defeating RAY.

After the RAY battle you move through the building and eventually end up chasing Sundowner. At the end of the chase you'll end up in the second ranked battle.

R-00: Ranked Battle 2

Enemies: Metal Gear RAY x1

Time: 3:00.00 (1000 pts)

Kills: 1 (1000 pts)

No Damage: 1000 pts

S Rank: 2000 pts

Much like the previous RAY fight, this isn't difficult if you can dodge/parry everything it sends at you. Much like the last battle as well, you can take longer than 3 minutes by earning a No Damage bonus. The one place to be wary is the quicktime event at the end, simply hitting a missile or its plasma beam will automatically kill you.

See the Boss Data for tips on defeating RAY.

After this RAY battle you'll be on a train, move forward to encounter Sam and Sundowner. Even though it's not ranked, you have to put up a bit of a fight with Sam to progress the story, so don't just try to get your butt kicked. After the scene with Sam this mission will be over.

File: R-01 (Coup d'Ètat)

There are 10 ranked battles in this mission.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=813XOMwQDsY]Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance - Mission R-01 S Rank (Revengeance Difficulty) - YouTube[/ame]

This mission starts out with you on a beach, move up the stairs to your first ranked battle.

R-01: Ranked Battle 1

Enemies: Cyborg x3, Mastiff x1

Time: 00:20.00 (1000 pts)

BP: 800 (1000 pts)

Zandatsu: 3 (1000 pts)

Combo: 15 (1000 pts)

Kills: 3 (1000 pts)

No Damage: 1500 pts

No Kills: 1500 pts

S Rank: 5000 pts

This fight shouldn't be a problem as dealing with these enemies should be childs play by now. Keep in mind you can earn a No Kill and a No Damage bonus here as well to help you supplement your score.

After this fight move into and through the building until you see the civilian hostage. You can rescue the civilian if you wish, but the cyborgs in the area are not part of any ranked battle. Move past this area to where you encounter a Gekko that leaps over a building to enter the next ranked battle.

R-01: Ranked Battle 2

Enemies: Custom Cyborg x2, Cyborg x2, Gekko x1

Time: 01:00.00 (1000 pts)

BP: 1000 (1000 pts)

Zandatsu: 5 (1000 pts)

Combo: 20 (1000 pts)

Kills: 5 (1000 pts)

No Damage: 1500 pts

No Kills: 1500 pts

S Rank: 5000 pts

This fight shouldn't be a problem as all of the requirements are low. Keep in mind that the two Custom Cyborgs spawn in after the two regular Cyborgs are defeated. If you can, get the Gekko to rush you so you can defeat it quickly and then focus on the weaker enemies when it's out of the way.

After this fight you can move further down the road where more Cyborgs and Gekkos are patrolling. They aren't part of a ranked battle, so you are free to avoid them if you want. Enter the door and try to cross the skyway to enter the third ranked battle.

R-01: Ranked Battle 3

Enemies: Cyborg x3, Fenrir x1, Gekko x1

Time: 03:00.00 (1000 pts)

BP: 600 (1000 pts)

Zandatsu: 4 (1000 pts)

Combo: 30 (1000 pts)

Kills: 5 (1000 pts)

No Damage: 1500 pts

No Kills: 1500 pts

S Rank: 5000 pts

This fight shouldn't be a problem if you're used to fighting the Fenrir units. The main thing to keep in mind is that the Fenrir will retreat and summon the other enemies in two different phases. The first phase is when it's ~70% and then again at ~30%. While this does take time, it gives you opportunities to reach the Zandatsu and Kill criteria. Keep in mind it is possible to defeat the Fenrir without it summoning its backup, so unless you're earning the No Damage and No Kill bonus, go careful on it.

After this fight you move forward towards a bridge you can either kill or skip the cyborgs in your way. Go through the scripted event to enter the next ranked battle.

R-01: Ranked Battle 4

Enemies: Hammerhead x1

Time: 01:00.00 (1000 pts)

BP: 150 (1000 pts)

Combo: 20 (1000 pts)

Kills: 1 (1000 pts)

No Damage: 1500 pts

S Rank: 4000 pts

This fight isn't too difficult; you can chase the helicopter around but it's a lot easier to hit it with a Stinger or EMP device to get it near the ground. Simply wail on it until the stun wears off and do it again until it reaches ~10%. From here it'll fly away; go through the quicktime event and finish it off.

After this fight you will move on to the streets with sliders and a civilian hostage. You do not need to fight these enemies, but sneaking around them can be difficult, either way move towards the back of the area to the terminal. You'll be told to get the left arm of an enemy commander, so go back the way you came. After dealing with the commander, go back to the area where you fought the Hammerhead for your fifth ranked battle.

R-01: Ranked Battle 5

Enemies: Cyborg x1, Slider x3

Time: 00:45.00 (1000 pts)

BP: 800 (1000 pts)

Zandatsu: 4 (1000 pts)

Combo: 20 (1000 pts)

Kills: 4 (1000 pts)

No Damage: 1500 pts

No Kills: 1500 pts

S Rank: 5000 pts

This fight can be difficult based on how well you can deal with the Sliders. I found the Sai or Stinger are the best ways to deal with them. Once they're out of the way you're free to deal with the Cyborg.

When the battle is over, return to the locked gate and proceed to the next battle.

R-01: Ranked Battle 6

Enemies: Cyborg x4, Custom Cyborg x1

Time: 01:15.00 (1000)

BP: 1000 (1000)

Zandatsu: 5 (1000)

Combo: 20 (1000)

Kills: 5 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No kills: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This fight is pretty straight forward, simply kill every enemy with a Zandatsu and earn at least a 20 hit combo. You can dismember them or earn a high combo for BP or supplement it with a bonus.

After this battle go through the building and continue until you reach the courtyard area with a patrolling Gekko, engage the Gekko or the cyborg for your next battle.

R-01: Ranked Battle 7

Enemies: Cyborg x2, Gekko x1, GRAD x1

Time: 01:15.00 (1000)

BP: 1000 (1000)

Zandatsu: 4 (1000)

Combo: 20 (1000)

Kills: 4 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No Kills: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This fight is pretty straight forward, simply kill every enemy with a Zandatsu and earn at least a 20 hit combo. You can dismember the two cyborgs for BP, you should also work on a big combo on the GRAD for the rest of it.

After this battle approach the doorway to have Boris mention a distress call. Approach the waypoint to start the next battle.

R-01: Ranked Battle 8

Enemies: Hammerhead x2

Time: 01:00.00 (1000)

BP: 300 (1000)

Combo: 20 (1000)

Kills: 2 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No Kills: 1500

S Rank: 4000

This fight is very simple with the Sai. When the enemies appear use the Sai to keep yourself next to the helicopter and wail on it till you can finish it off. Then do the exact same to the remaining helicopter.

After this battle go through the gate and approach the facility to engage the next battle.

R-01: Ranked Battle 9

Enemies: Cyborg x2, Dwarf Gekko x11

Time: 01:00.00 (1000)

BP: 1000 (1000)

Zandatsu: 2 (1000)

Combo: 30 (1000)

Kills: 10 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No Kills: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This fight is very simple, especially with the staff. Simply attack the Dwarf Gekkos and pick up the items they drop for BP and be sure to Zandatsu the two Cyborgs that appear.

After this battle go through the mission until you reach Mistral for your final fight.

R-01: Ranked Battle 10

Enemies: Dwarf Gekko (INFINITE), Mistral x1

Time: 04:30.00 (2000)

BP: 2500 (2000)

Combo: 30 (2000)

Kills: 25 (2000)

No Damage: 2000

S Rank: 8000

This fight is relatively simple when you understand it. To earn 25 kills you will need to destroy many of her Dwarf Gekkos, picking up the items they drop also help you earn BP. Outside of that simply kill her as fast as possible.

I recommend reading the Boss Data for guidance on fighting Mistral.

File: R-02 Research Facility

There are 8 ranked battles in this mission, only one of which can be missed as all others happen as you progress through the mission.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYTEpdtOLwwFrom the start of the mission follow the path until you're ambushed for your first ranked battle.

R-02: Ranked Battle 1

Enemies: Mastiff x1, Slider x2

Time: 00:50.00 (1000)

BP: 200 (1000)

Zandatsu: 1 (1000)

Combo: 25 (1000)

Kills: 1 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This mission isn't too difficult, if the Mastiff immediately goes into a wall jump you can easily just-defend it into an execution. If not, use a Sai to stun and close the gap between you and a Slider and take it out. This shouldn't take too long to clear.

After that fight, follow the path until you drop down a hole for your next ranked battle.

R-02: Ranked Battle 2

Enemies: Custom Cyborg x2, Dwarf Gekko x7

Time: 00:30.00 (1000)

BP: 1000 (1000)

Combo: 30 (1000)

Kills: 9 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No Kills: 1500

S Rank: 4000

This battle is strict on time, to earn top marks in most fields just run straight to one of the cyborgs and engage him and finish him off quickly. From there run to gather up the rest of the enemies and engage the remaining cyborg, use the staff to keep control of the dwarf gekkos as well. What you may lack in speed, you can make up for with either bonus.

After this fight continue along the path till you fall down another hole for your next ranked battle.

R-02: Ranked Battle 3

Enemies: Raptor x3

Time: 01:30.00 (1000)

BP: 800 (1000)

Zandatsu: 3 (1000)

Combo: 30 (1000)

Kills: 3 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This fight isn't too complicated if you're used to fighting the Raptors, if you're not I suggest using Ripper Mode to deal with one or two of them, don't completely destroy them and try to earn a Zandatsu on each one at least. Once there's one left try to rack up a combo before finishing it.

After this battle continue forward into the mission until Boris radios you about a distress signal, go back to where the marker shows for your next ranked battle.

R-02: Ranked Battle 4

Enemies: Vodomjerka x4, Dwarf Gekko x9

Time: 02:30.00 (1000)

BP: 1000 (1000)

Zandatsu: 3 (1000)

Combo: 30 (1000)

Kills: 5 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No Kills: 1500

S Rank: 5000

If you're not used to fighting the Vodomjerka's I recommend using Ripper mode to dispatch them as quickly as possible. The enemies spawn in waves and after getting rid of the Vodomjerka you can use the Dwarf Gekkos to build up your combo count.

After this battle continue on with the mission until you reach a room where you're on a catwalk and 3 cyborgs are below you, this is your next ranked battle.

R-02: Ranked Battle 5

Enemies: Mastiff x3, Raptor x2

Time: 02:00.00 (1000)

BP: 1000 (1000)

Zandatsu: 5 (1000)

Combo: 30 (1000)

Kills: 5 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No Kills: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This battle isn't too tough as the second Raptor only joins after you've defeated the first one, or at least all 3 Mastiff's in the room. Since these are a lot of powerful enemies I recommend using Ripper Mode to deal with them, just be sure to get a combo rating and Zandatsu a few of them and let the bonus fill in the rest of the score for you.

Shortly after this battle you'll exit the room and be put in your next ranked battle.

R-02: Ranked Battle 6

Enemies: Cyborg x3, Raptor x2

Time: 01:00.00 (1000)

BP: 1000 (1000)

Zandatsu: 5 (1000)

Combo: 30 (1000)

Kills: 5 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No Kills: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This battle isn't too difficult as the Raptors show up shortly after this battle begins, so you have ample time to dispatch the three cyborgs before they show up. This battle isn't too difficult since you can get most of scores out of the way, then deal with the raptors after they appear.

Keep going through the mission until you take control of the Dwarf Gekko, this is your next ranked battle.

R-02: Ranked Battle 7

Enemies: Dwarf Gekko x5, Cyborg x5

Time: 01:00.00 (3000)

No Damage: 3000

S Rank: 6000

For this battle, just run to your next objective to make the time limit. As long as you don't alert any guards you should earn the No Damage bonus which will net you an S Rank.

After this "battle" go through the room the Dwarf Gekko moved through and upon entering the next open room you'll be at the final ranked battle.

R-02: Ranked Battle 8

Enemies: GRAD x2

Time: 02:30.00 (2000)

BP: 1000 (2000)

Combo: 40 (2000)

Kills: 2 (2000)

No Damage: 2000

S Rank: 8000

This battle can be difficult as dealing with two GRAD's at once can be a pain. The best method I can give is keep one GRAD off your screen at all times while staying in the face of the other one. This can help keep the distant GRAD from firing on you and make sure the close one won't fire on you either. To start off use an EM Grenade or Sai to stun one GRAD then use it again to stun the other. Then pick your target and wail on it until it drops. Once one is down, get up to the other one and hammer on it till it drops. After this there are no more battles so go finish the mission.

File: R-03 Mile High

There are 14 ranked battle in R-03, the final one being one of the most difficult bosses in the game. If needed, be sure to save and backup your game as you go.

R-03: Ranked Battle 1

Enemies: Cyborg x10, Custom Cyborg x2

Time: 02:00.00 (1000)

BP: 2000 (1000)

Zandatsu: 12 (1000)

Combo: 35 (1000)

Kills: 12 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No Kills: 1500

This fight actually consists of two battles, you start off engaged and once that group is down you need to move further into the mission to have the second wave spawn. You get your results when the second wave is down. Overall it's nothing too hard, simply kill every enemy with a Zandatsu and be quick about it.

After this fight Wolf will talk to you, move further into the mission to engage the next battle.

R-03: Ranked Battle 2

Enemies: GRAD x2

Time: 02:00.00 (1000)

BP: 500 (1000)

Zandatsu: 2 (1000)

Combo: 35 (1000)

Kills: 2 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

This fight can be complicated until one GRAD goes down. I recommend using Ripper Mode to quickly dispatch one, don't get too carried away or you won't be able to Zandatsu it. Then move to the other one and build up your combo before finishing it off.

Once this battle is over, there are several cyborgs lingering in the area. Kill all cyborgs in the area to have Boris tell you about a distress signal. Approach the waypoint for your next battle.

R-03: Ranked Battle 3

Enemies: Custom Cyborg x4

Time: 01:30.00 (1000)

BP: 1000 (1000)

Zandatsu: 4 (1000)

Combo: 30 (1000)

Kills: 4 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No Kills: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This battle can be frustrating due to the enemy group, you can use EM or RP grenades to control the group and focus one down at a time or try to get a just-defend off one and have it hit others. You can also use Ripper Mode to lighten the group if needed. Whichever way you choose, you can also supplement your score with the bonuses.

After this battle head into the building and upon entering the office space you'll be in the next ranked battle.

R-03: Ranked Battle 4

Enemies: Dwarf Gekko x8, Gekko x2

Time: 01:30.00 (1000)

BP: 1000 (1000)

Zandatsu: 2 (1000)

Combo: 50 (1000)

Kills: 8 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This battle can be frustrating as the area isn't too big and can be hard to coax one of the Gekkos into charging you for an easy kill. Outside of that the Dwarf Gekkos have guns and can chip away at your life stopping you from getting a No Damage Bonus. So once one Gekko is down hammer away until you have the required combo rating then quickly mop up the remaining enemies.

After this battle enter the next hallway for the next battle.

R-03: Ranked Battle 5

Enemies: Custom Cyborg x2, Cyborg x3

Time: 00:50.00 (1000)

BP: 1000 (1000)

Zandatsu: 5 (1000)

Combo: 30 (1000)

Kills: 5 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No Kills: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This battle can be frustrating as it's in an L-shaped hallway and has a few rocket using cyborgs. I recommend dealing with them first and then mopping up whatever is left. This battle isn't too complicated.

After this battle enter the elevator, exit the top of the building and use the ramp to jump over to the next building. From here keep moving until you reach a rooftop with multiple air conditioning units for your next ranked battle.

R-03: Ranked Battle 6

Enemies: Cyborg x2, Heavy Cyborg x2, Slider x2

Time: 02:00.00 (1000)

BP: 1000 (1000)

Zandatsu: 4 (1000)

Combo: 50 (1000)

Kills: 4 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No Kills: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This battle isn't too difficult as long as you take out the Sliders as early as possible but also be careful as the Heavy Cyborg can kill you in one hit, so always keep your eyes on them. You can also use Ripper Mode to destroy one of the Heavies and then work your combo counter up on the other one.

After this battle, climb the stairs and drop off the platform in front of you for the next ranked battle.

R-03: Ranked Battle 7

Enemies: Cyborg x3, Slider x4

Time: 01:00.00 (1000)

BP: 1000 (1000)

Zandatsu: 5 (1000)

Combo: 35 (1000)

Kills: 5 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No Kills: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This battle isn't too complicated, just focus on the Sliders first as they're the biggest nuisance.

After this battle climb the stairs and go to the next building, use AR mode and spy on the Custom Cyborg, engage him to start the next ranked battle.

Time: 01:00.00 (1000)

Zandatsu: 1 (1000)

Combo: 30 (1000)

Kills: 2 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No Kills: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This battle isn't too complicated, just handle the Cyborgs quickly or use a Stinger to stun the helicopter. Once the cyborgs are down, handle the helicopter.

After this battle keep going through the mission till you reach the end of the underground segment for the next ranked battle.

R-03: Ranked Battle 9

Enemies: Dwarf Gekko x5, Mastiff x2

Time: 01:00.00 (1000)

BP: 1000 (1000)

Zandatsu: 1 (1000)

Combo: 40 (1000)

Kills: 7 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No Kills: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This battle isn't hard, just handle one of the Mastiffs as early as possible so you don't get overran by the other one. I advise using the staff to help control the dwarf gekkos. As long as you take out one of the Mastiffs this battle isn't too difficult.

After this battle go outside and go further into the mission to your next ranked battle.

R-03: Ranked Battle 10

Enemies: Custom Cyborg x1, Cyborg x2, GRAD x1

Time: 01:30.00 (1000)

BP: 1000 (1000)

Zandatsu: 4 (1000)

Combo: 50 (1000)

Kills: 4 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No Kills: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This battle isn't hard as long as you can make it to the platform and get out of the GRAD's sight. Handle the cyborgs then cut the bridge supports to bring the GRAD down and then finish it off.

After this battle, keep going through the mission till you reach a big set of wide stairs for the next ranked battle.

R-03: Ranked Battle 11

Enemies: Cyborg x1, Fenrir x2, Mastiff x3

Time: 01:30.00 (1000)

BP: 800 (1000)

Zandatsu: 1 (1000)

Combo: 40 (1000)

Kill: 1 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No Kills: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This fight can be complicated if you do not remove any of the patrolling enemies before alerting the guards who summon the Fenrir's. Be sure to use the cardboard box or whatever else you can to be stealthy and cut down the enemies you can before they see you. Once they do see you, use whatever you can to destroy the enemies; this is a tough enemy spawn so keep trying.

After this battle go further into the mission until you reach the courtyard area for the next ranked battle.

R-03: Ranked Battle 12

Enemies: Cyborg x5

Time: 01:00.00 (1000)

BP: 1000 (1000)

Zandatsu: 5 (1000)

Combo: 35 (1000)

Kills: 5 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No Kills: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This fight is not hard at all, they come at you in groups of 2 and are easily dispatched.

After this battle Raiden is disturbed and not fully combat capable; you can't combo, Zandatsu or most other attacks, but you will be required to kill several enemies for your next ranked battle which starts immediately after the cutscene.

R-03: Ranked Battle 13

Enemies: Cyborg x5

Time: 03:30.00 (1000)

BP: 100 (1000)

Combo: 4 (1000)

Kills: 5 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This isn't too complicated, the only hard part should be earning a 4 hit combo which can be done by only hitting an enemy with a single strike so you don't knock them over. It's almost impossible to get an S Rank in this battle as enemies have guns and if you can't get the drop on all of them, you will most likely take a hit.

After this battle step into the building courtyard to enter the last ranked battle.

R-03: Ranked Battle 14

Enemies: Monsoon

Time: 08:00.00 (2000)

BP: 1000 (2000)

Combo: 30 (2000)

Kills: 1 (2000)

No Damage: 2000

S Rank: 8000

I recommend reading the Boss Data for how to combat Monsoon. There isn't anything to note as Monsoon is a straight forward boss.

File: R-04 Hostile Takeover

There are 12 ranked battles in this mission, some of which are missable and potentially the hardest non-boss fight in the entire game. This mission isn't too complicated, but some of the battles can put your skills to the test.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rcReazhEGU]Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance - Mission R-04 S Rank (Revengeance Difficulty) - YouTube[/ame]

Your first ranked battle happens as soon as you start the mission and attack the receptionist bot.

R-04: Ranked Battle 1

Enemies: Cyborg x6, Fenrir x4

Time: 02:00.00 (1000)

BP: 1800 (1000)

Combo: 50 (1000)

Zandatsu: 6 (1000)

Kills: 8 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No Kill: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This battle isn't too complicated as long as you're proficient with battling Fenrir's. The first wave of enemies are simply 4 cyborgs, but the rest of the enemies appear after they're taken down.

After this group of enemies are down, head up the stairs towards the elevator to start the next ranked battle.

WARNING: This ranked battle can be very difficult due to how the battleground is setup.

R-04: Ranked Battle 2

Enemies: Cyborg x10, GRAD x1, Mastiff x2, Slider x3

Time: 08:00.00 (1000)

BP: 2000 (1000)

Zandatsu: 2 (1000)

Combo: 80 (1000)

Kills: 16 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No Kills: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This battle is HARD, yes all caps, in red, with a rage inducing scream; luckily you're allowed to use special items and such to help negate the difficulty. What makes this fight so difficult is you're restricted from entering the lower lobby area where many of the enemies spawn and stay, making this a long distance battle for a majority of the enemies. I recommend Wig A as it gives you unlimited sub-weapon use which is paramount for when the GRAD appears as you'll need to continuously use RP Grenades to stop it from attacking you. One last thing to note is when Doktor radios you about the elevator doors being open DO NOT ENTER THE ELEVATOR. If you leave this battleground without destroying everything, you will not earn a rank, which means you won't be able to earn an S Rank for the mission. Wipe them out... all of them.

Once this battle is over, go to the elevators and upon reaching the next floor, the ranked battle will begin when you trigger an Alert phase. You should also know that enemy numbers can vary depending on how many panels you destroy before triggering an Alert. For simplicity I recommend triggering an alert at the start to make sure you reach all applicable goals.

R-04: Ranked Battle 3

Enemies: Heavy Cyborg x2, Mastiff x3, Raptor x3

Time: 03:00.00 (1000)

BP: 2000 (1000)

Zandatsu: 5 (1000)

Combo: 50 (1000)

Kills: 5 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No Kills: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This battle can be difficult since the Mastiff's can clip through the terrain when using their wall jump attack. To make it simpler you can assassinate one of them before triggering an alert and then finish them off before the Raptors come, or you can use Ripper Mode and deal with everything as they come at you. Either way, finish them off to clear this battle.

After this battle head through the door, when the building gets attacked, you're in the next ranked battle.

R-04: Ranked Battle 4

Enemies: Cyborg x4, Gekko x1, GRAD x1, Heavy Cyborg x1, Slider x6

Time: 02:00.00 (5000)

BP: 500 (1000)

Zandatsu: 5 (1000)

Combo: 30 (1000)

Kills: 7 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No Kills: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This battle isn't as difficult as you may think, as long as you're fast about it. You can easily earn an S Rank by running past every enemy, except the GRAD who you have to kill. The battle ends once Raiden is finished running up the side of the buildings outside. Just be fast and you can most (if not all) of the points just by making good time.

After this battle continue until you enter a Japanese garden, approach the pagoda to star the next ranked battle.

R-04: Ranked Battle 5

Enemies: Custom Cyborg x2, Cyborg x6, Mastiff x2

Time: 01:30.00 (1000)

BP: 1000 (1000)

Zandatsu: 5 (1000)

Combo: 60 (1000)

Kills: 6 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No Kills: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This battle can be a pain as the RPG cyborgs will spawn near the Pagoda while Mastiffs come at you. Deal with the Mastiff's then work on the Cyborgs until the final Custom Cyborg appears then take him down.

After this battle continue through the level and when you activate the cargo elevator, you'll be in the next ranked battle.

R-04: Ranked Battle 6

Enemies: Custom Cyborg x1, Cyborg x2, Gekko x2

Time: 01:30.00 (1000)

BP: 1000 (1000)

Zandatsu: 5 (1000)

Combo: 60 (1000)

Kills: 5 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No Kills: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This battle isn't too difficult aside from the small battleground, this makes it hard to coax a Gekko into rushing you for a quick kill. The Gekko's will appear after you take out the three Cyborgs.

After this battle, more enemies will come at you for the next ranked battle.

R-04: Ranked Battle 7

Enemies: Cyborg x2, Fenrir x2, Raptor x1

Time: 01:50.00 (1000)

BP: 1000 (1000)

Zandatsu: 5 (1000)

Combo: 60 (1000)

Kills: 5 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No Kills: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This battle can be difficult because of the Fenrirs and Raptor in the small battleground. I recommend using Ripper mode to take one or two of them out quickly and then you can work on the last powerful unit with little effort. One final note is once this battle is over, get away from the big tank on the elevator.

After this battle you'll get a call from Doktor and see Dwarf Gekkos try to slow the elevator for your next ranked battle.

R-04: Ranked Battle 8

Enemies: Custom Cyborg x1, Cyborg x5, Tripod x24

Time: 00:50.00 (5000)

BP: 1000 (1000)

Zandatsu: 2 (1000)

Combo: 30 (1000)

Kills: 10 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No Kills: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This battle is very simple as it can be finished at any time by jumping onto the other platform. If you're quick enough you can earn an S Rank by making it to the next platform within 20 seconds, otherwise feel free to hammer on the enemies that appear before jumping over.

Once you're on the next platform, you'll be in the next ranked battle shortly.

R-04: Ranked Battle 9

Enemies: Heavy Cyborg x1, Mastiff x2, Sliders x3

Time: 02:00.00 (1000)

BP: 1000 (1000)

Zandatsu: 5 (1000)

Combo: 50 (1000)

Kills: 6 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No Kills: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This battle can be very difficult; the important things to know is the first Mastiff will join after killing 2 enemies while the second Mastiff will join after killing 3 enemies. While it may be tempting to take out the Heavy, you should focus on the Sliders as they can be more problematic with their missiles.

After this battle you'll finally be off the elevators; move through the mission until you encounter the Mistral AI for the next ranked battle.

R-04: Ranked Battle 10

Enemies: Dwarf Gekko (INFINITE), Mistral AI x1, Monsoon AI x1

Time: 05:00.00 (1000)

BP: 1000 (1000)

Combo: 50 (1000)

Kills: 15 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

S Rank: 4000

This battle isn't too difficult if you're proficient against fighting Mistral and Monsoon; keep in mind these are only AI's and so they don't have their scripted events but are still as deadly. If you're going for maximum points you'll need to earn the kills and combo against Mistral and her Dwarf Gekkos. Once Mistral is dead, Monsoon will try to ambush you, once he's down the battle is over.

I recommend reading the Boss Data for how to combat Mistral and Monsoon. Keep in mind the scripted events like Monsoon's throws do not happen, but everything else they're capable of will.

After this battle go into the next room for a cutscene with Sundowner. Then turn back around and re-enter the room where you fought the Mistral and Monsoon AI, for the next ranked battle.

R-04: Ranked Battle 11

Enemies: Raptor x2, Slider x2

Time: 01:30.00 (1000)

BP: 1000 (1000)

Zandatsu: 4 (1000)

Combo: 40 (1000)

Kills: 4 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No Kills: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This battle isn't too complicated, just take the Sliders out quickly then deal with the Raptors as you see fit.

When this battle is over, go follow Sundowner to the helipad for the last ranked battle.

R-04: Ranked Battle 12

Enemies: Heavy Cyborg x2, Hammerhead (INFINITE), Sundowner x1

Time: 05:00.00 (2000)

BP: 400 (2000)

Zandatsu: (2000)

Combo: 50 (2000)

Kills: 3 (2000)

No Damage: 2000

No Kills: 2000

S Rank: 10000

This battle isn't too complicated, but for clarification about earning kills; you will have to cut off Sundowner's reactive armor and trigger a scene where he grabs a pillar, during this action two cyborgs will join him in fighting you. You can bypass the kill requirement by supplementing the points with one of the bonuses.

Please see Boss Data for information on fighting Sundowner.

File: R-05 Escape from Denver

This mission isn't too difficult, is very short and has only one possibly difficult battle out of only four. Other then that, it's nothing to worry about. Just keep it together and you'll be through this mission quickly.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqeJCtBbaPE]Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance - Mission R-05 S Rank (Revengeance Difficulty) - YouTube[/ame]

At the start of the mission you'll be in the first ranked battle.

R-05: Ranked Battle 1

Enemies: Custom Cyborg x2, Cyborg x2

Time: 01:30.00 (1000)

BP: 800 (1000)

Zandatsu: 4 (1000)

Combo: 35 (1000)

Kills: 4 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No Kills: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This battle isn't too difficult, for starters I'd recommend taking out the two cyborgs with guns that are atop the truck. From there take out the two customs and this battle is over.

After this battle work your way to a courtyard with a fountain in the middle for your next ranked battle.

R-05: Ranked Battle 2

Enemies: Cyborg x4, Heavy Cyborg x1

Time: 01:40.00 (1000)

BP: 1000 (1000)

Zandatsu: 5 (1000)

Combo: 50 (1000)

Kills: 5 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

No Kills: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This battle can be difficult as the four Cyborgs are all atop buildings and shooting RPG's at you while the Heavy will chase you around the area. Use whatever you can to knock the Cyborgs from the roof to take them out before concentrating on the Heavy.

After this battle you'll have to walk through a hallway of Dwarf Gekkos, at the end is a long set of stairs. To help make this next battle easier, hide in a box or drum until the Sliders are gone; reach the bottom of the stairs for the next ranked battle.

R-05: Ranked Battle 3

Enemies: Dwarf Gekko x7, Raptor x2

Anything in the immediate area when you alerted will also join the battle.

Time: 02:00.00 (1000)

BP: 1000 (1000)

Zandatsu: 2 (1000)

Combo: 50 (1000)

Kills: 2 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

This battle isn't too difficult as the Raptors are the only threat. Deal with them as you will and finish off an Dwarf Gekkos to end this battle.

After this battle continue down the road, bypass the cyborgs with the civilian and GRAD as they're not required. As you approach the end of the level, alert the Mastiff and fight off the enemies. After the battle activate AR Mode to see a cyborg behind a door, approach the door for it to open and take out the Cyborg. Go further into the building to find a VR terminal and use it to activate the next ranked battle; if you've already activated it you'll be ambushed by merely getting close to it.

R-05: Ranked Battle 4

Enemies: Mastiff x3

Time: 02:00.00 (1000)

BP: 800 (1000)

Zandatsu: 2 (1000)

Combo: 200 (1000)

Kills: 3 (1000)

No Damage: 1500

S Rank: 5000

This battle can be very tough as you get ambushed by them and can easily get overran. I recommend using Ripper Mode to take out one or two of them and then focusing on the third as you see fit. It's difficult since you're in an enclosed space, but it's nothing too difficult.

After this battle, leave the city.

This battle isn't too difficult and since it's the only part of R-06 it's not much to worry about. If you can't make one of the point requirements do your best to get the No Damage bonus and remember to abuse Infinite Ripper + Blade Mode.

I recommend reading the Boss Data for how to combat Sam.

This battle isn't too complicated, the only threat is the Slider which can be dealt with quickly. Work the enemies over to end the battle.

After this battle cut through the gate and work your way through the hangar and out the other side, approach Wolf to start the next ranked battle.

R-07: Ranked Battle 2

Enemies: Gekko x6, Metal Gear Excelsus

Time: 08:00.00 (2000)

BP: 800 (2000)

Zandatsu: 2 (2000)

Combo: 80 (2000)

Kills: 4 (2000)

No Damage: 2000

S Rank: 10000

This battle isn't difficult if you know how to fight Excelsus, the problems can lie in fulfilling all the point criteria. For the Kills and Zandatsu, you must attack and finish off the Gekkos that appear during the Excelsus' laser beam phase. This can be very difficult as you lose control of Raiden during Zandatsu's and can easily take a hit from the beams.

I recommend reading the Boss Data for how to combat Metal Gear Excelsus.

After this battle you'll be taken into battle with the final boss and your final ranked battle.

R-07: Ranked Battle 3

Enemies: Senator Armstrong

Time: 05:00.00 (2000)

BP: 800 (2000)

Zandatsu: 1 (2000)

Combo: 100 (2000)

Kills: 1 (2000)

No Damage: 2000

S Rank: 10000

This battle is difficult based on how proficient you are at fighting Armstrong and how you plan to earn your points. The easiest method is to ensure you earn the No Damage Bonus to help offset any other criteria you didn't earn perfect in. The only criteria you may miss is time; to earn 100 hits use Wig B with Ripper Blade Mode and wail on him until you've reached the combo rate. Clear this battle and congratulations on clearing the game and earning the trophy.

Collectibles Data

There are various collectibles scattered throughout the game. Most of them trigger an auto-save everytime you find one; the ones that don't are the Humanoid Gekkos. As such there is a bit of a problem with destroying them and to earn the trophy you should do so in a single playthrough without restarting at any time. This guide is set out in the order of which you should find the collectibles.

Outside of trophies, the collectibles also unlock specific gear that is required for Ich Liebe Kapitalismus as well as unlocking the 20 VR Missions for VR Master and Virtually Flawless. So while you may not put much effort into finding the collectibles at first, you should find them as early as possible to unlock everything they have.

Data Storage 1 - After the first Metal Gear RAY battle you'll be chasing Sundowner. During this scene you should see a grate below an elevated piece of land you jump on. Use Blade Mode to destroy the grate and slide inside to find this Data Storage.

Data Storage 2 - After the second Metal Gear RAY battle you'll be on a train. Proceed along the cars until you jump onto a double stack of containers. You should see Sundowner on the next car; don't jump towards him but slowly walk off the container to find the Data Storage on the car you're currently on.

Once you hit both of them, take out all the enemies in the area.

looking really good man, lets see if how it turns out in the end

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/350/B8F.jpgDemilitarized Zone (B)

*I know I read this tactic somewhere on this forum, if I could get who it was and a link to their post, that'd be great. Need to credit them.

about this, maybe you saw this:

i wrote something similar before, but both methods work fine.

I think I was the one who suggested the customization menu to save progress on them. Its in that topic.
