also..just to be extra safe, I started using a different USB drive to constantly back up this new file. I backed it up when i beat Suzuka via the glitch, I updated back to the latest version, everything worked and continued to back it up on this drive when i beat Eiger Time Trial and each time I suspend my 24 hour Nurburgring Race.
I still havent touched the save file (before i removed the updates) that i copied to my main usb card that holds all of my save files.
My transitions have been flawless so far, the only thing is that they gave me a new Gillette Camaro so my race records with that are gone. The only time I plan on overwriting my original back up is when I get the Platinum after i finish the 15 hours i have left on Nurburgring.
now just load up the game, dont install the update and enter your career.
every time you enter the GT Life screen, you will get a pop up or two.
I kept on getting the present_202A and present_202B message.
look at your premium cars and see if the numbers are the same. there is a small chance that one of the go karts will vanish....also, if you had the Gillette Camaro, that will be lost too. (The Camaro was the only car I lost)
do what you gotta do and then when you're done. go to the PSN store, look at your history and download all of the GT5 dlc from this list. (Camaro and Scion were free plus whatever you bought) now update to the latest version.
now go to the xmb go to the save files, press triangle on the first GT5 file listed, select copy, select the usb drive and once that is there, never alter that file...just in case anything ever went wrong before or after this method, you would have a perfect file before you attempted anything.
now go back to the data manager and delete the large game data file with all the updates and dlc. (triangle, wait for it to count the 11gb+ file then delete)
after that, start the game and update the first 6 and stop at #7. (its a small one at either 64 or 74 mb)
this also only works if you have the original version of GT5, not the XL/SpecII
after you press circle while update #7 starts, go to the game data manager, highlight the file, press triangle and select information. It should say version 1.10
for your driver and B-spec, make sure they are all wearing an original suit.
if your gear is listed by newest first, just pick the last helmet and suit for each driver.
go to the dealer and buy 2 default go karts and select the 2nd one as your main vehicle. If you are currently in a new car from 2011/12, the trick wont work and your data will probably corrupt for good...even if you re-updated to the latest version.
now in the GT life menu, look at your premium cars and select newest first.
you will see go kart equipped on top and the other one underneath.
also make note of the number of cars you have both premium and standard and manually save the game via the icon above the exit button.
