Sony working to bring Mass Effect 3 multiplayer events to PS3

Previously exclusive to the Xbox 360 and PC, BioWare's weekend promotions for Mass Effect 3 multiplayer could be coming to PS3. Sony, EA and BioWare are currently working toward a resolution.

"We are currently working together with EA and BioWare on an implementation to bring Mass Effect 3 multiplayer weekends to PS3," a Sony spokesperson told Shacknews. When the free Resurgence Pack DLC launched last week, BioWare held a weekend promotion, but said arrangements to bring it to PS3 had not been completed with Sony. It sounds like that may change soon enough, though exactly how the PS3 will make up for its lost promotions isn't known.

Ehhh, you're a little too late Sony. Multiplayer to me is boring now, we fight waves, get credits, buy packs that contain everything we already have.

Yeah... probably should've thought of that in the beginning... Kind of going to be way too late.

The MP system is crap... It should have unlocking characters through leveling up. Not by buying packs with a gambling system.

Maybe they should fix that... I'd rather have that fixed than the stupid events.

I do agree with you, although I have to say, the gambling method works (as much as I hate it). If I could save up credits and buy just the classes/weapons I wanted, I'd probably be bored of MP by now. Instead, I keep playing just to get that one class or weapon I really want (and far out, you have get the weapon ten freakin' times).

Maybe it works for some... but not for me. I'm bored already because I can't unlock anything good. Just crap. It takes too long for me to make enough credits... I've heard it takes 1 million credits to get something good come out of those new packs... like the beth infiltrator... why so much!! I can't make that...

That has been my thought on the MP towards the end, I was not unlocking anything new and still was missing out on some Geth cards. Still would look forward to new events though.

The 1 million credits on-hand is just a myth, its really down to luck.

God... Luck should stay in the casino. It should have NOTHING to do with video games.

Seriously, I've complained before and I'll complain again -- what's with the servers? Is it just my internet connection? Tonight, I "lost connection to the Mass Effect 3 servers" on Wave 10 of Gold twice in a row! Argh!

The EA servers just set up the matches. BioWare uses a PtP system with the Leader hosting the other 3 players. Could it be the host's connection or yours? No way of knowing for sure except that BioWare chose the cheap route for MP and probably didn't do a good job with their netcode at that.

Thanks for the info. I guess I should stop cursing EA since it could be my fault...

I'm going to give up on this game. The game is too much of a grind, and even though I am still missing the Drell Vanguard, I hate opening packs and seeing repeats of character cards that I have maxed out their appearance for. BioWare obviously doesn't care about PS3 users probably because ME3 didn't meet sales projections on the PS3 (200K vs 1M on 360 in March). Or maybe because they are blatantly incompetent (no fix to Resurgence packs issue being most recent), I'm not sure which but either way I won't be buying BioWare games any time soon. Any smart PS3 owner should now look at BioWare with caution.

Which is a shame because bioware used to be one of those companies that, like Valve today, could seemingly do no wrong. I still enjoy multiplayer, but probably for the wrong reasons. The gambling pack system is like crack, but even that is beginning to lose its effect. I'm at the point now where there are only a few rare weapons needed to get to level X, but at the same time the chance of repeat rare character cards is increasing.

Ah well, Diablo 3 and Max Payne are coming out soon :p.

At this point, I don't even care anymore. Its obvious that the PS3 won't get the events ever (and I maintain that it is Bioware's doing, not Sony's.), so I may as well give up hope now. I already have all of the classes and most of the weapons I want for multiplayer, so I have kinda burned out on it. It was fun to play while it lasted, but I'm kind of done with it now.

Its amazing how fast a company can go from fantastic, to utter shit. First, the ending, then the way they are handling the ending (artistic integrity hurrdeedurr), and now their complete lack of PS3 support for the online component. EA really did a number on you Bioware :(

I tend to agree. It baffles me that they can charge the same amount for a game on multiple platforms and yet offer a lower quality of service on one of them. That seems unethical to me. I'd be so excited to play the weekend operations ...

I have to say I too have lost all interest in these MP Events. Bioware says it is Sony but their actions say that PS3 Mass Effect players are the utter LAST priority.

Look at the Bioware Forums - PS3 Threads are not responded to regardless of how they are written. Well thought out & respectful threads are just ignored.

Look at the Resurgence Pack (Store Item) - or lack thereof.

I think Bioware has a known security issue with these MP Events and Sony just won't let em slide with it.

Microsoft, however, has always been comfortable putting the security of its customers secondary to profits.
