Roadmap

Introduction

The fighting phenomenon that is Marvel vs Capcom has returned with an all-new roster and gameplay to satisfy die hard fans around the world. Building upon it's strong predecessors, Marvel vs Capcom 3 uses it's already solid fighting structure and control design and expands upon it, but also adds the ability for fighting newbies to jump in and play like they are pros as well with a new "simple" control scheme designed to make everything easier for them as well. The roster itself includes some familiar faces, as well as some new ones, to give you 36 different characters to choose from, not including the eventual DLC characters scheduled to come out eventually. Trophy wise, there is a wide variety of different trophies that range from playing as certain characters, unlocking things in the game, playing online and as standard for fighting games, pulling off moves/combos in a "mission" (trial type) mode. While most of the trophies are fairly easy and shouldn't give you any trouble at all, the main ones that will give you some issues are the ones related to the mission mode and possibly the ranked online ones, this is all depending on your level of skill.

Step 1: Arcade/Offline Regular Play

During this step you will be going after almost all the offline related trophies (team, move & combo related ones) and also getting comfortable with the game and it's controls to make things easier in the later steps. You can play however you want settings wise, but here is what I suggest you use to make things go alot faster and give you an easier time of getting everything.

Difficulty: Very Easy

Time: 60 (or 30 if you have all the finisher related trophies)

Damage: Highest

Now you will begin your grind towards getting all the endings in the game by beating it with all 36 characters, 32 are available immediately with 4 being unlocked along the way & being defeated by Galactus. You can check your progress while looking under the Gallery section of the main menu and under Character Endings to see who you already have and to figure out who you are still missing. While you're playing through Arcade Mode make sure that you are aiming to get all of the other offline related trophies (including character/team & move/combo ones). Once you finish getting all 37 endings you will get the 'Waiting For The Trade' trophy. If you are missing any other "offline" related ones (specifically the moves/combo ones), then don't worry about them as you'll have the chance to do them during the next few steps as well.

Step 2: Online Play (Character Trophies)

This step is done easiest & fastest with a boosting partner (which you can find HERE) and it's how I am setting up this step. You can also do this without boosting by just playing online regularly and eventually going up against the opponents you need to, but it will more than likely be extremely time consuming. Also while doing this step, you will obtain the 'Brave New World' trophy!

To get all the character vs character related trophies, you and your boosting partner will have to play only 2 games. Here are the teams you should pick in order to unlock them the fastest:

Game 1: Ryu, Wesker, & (Whoever you want) -vs- Akuma, Wolverine, & Chris

(This game will unlock 'Fate Of Two Worlds', 'Raccoon City Incident', & 'Fate Of The Satsui No Hadau')

Game 2: Spiderman, Captain America, & (Whoever You Want) -vs- Taskmaster, MODOK, & Iron Man

(This game will unlock 'Whose Side Are You On?', 'Duty and Dues Ex Machina', & 'Copy This!')

After you finish those 2 games it's time to move on to the 'Full Roster' trophy. All you have to do for this is keep playing games against each other but pick 3 different characters each time until you've both played as and against all 36 characters. If you want to make things easier to remember who you've played as/against, then just select the characters in order from top to bottom or left to right. It also helps to keep a list as well in case you miss someone somehow so you don't have to go back and play against everyone again just to find who you were missing.

Step 3: Online Play (Ranking Trophies)

Now that you have the easier online trophies, it's time to go after the ranked play related ones. As of this time there really isn't an easy way to boost these as trying to match up with someone specific is very sporadic currently. If you wish to try, there are numerous threads throughout this forum on the topic of how to try to find someone in a ranked match, but this step will not be using the boosting method.

The main trophy you will want to go for right off the bat as it will help you work towards your rank related ones is 'School For The Gifted' (Get a 5 game win streak in Ranked Match). Depending on your skills this might be difficult as once you lose a match you will have to start your streak all over again However the more wins you get while going for this will also be raising your rank, meaning that you will have to face tougher opponents as well. It's best that you practice and get very comfortable with a specific team to use whilst going for this trophy as it's easiest to obtain when you are going against the "lower level" opponents who tend to be alot easier.

After you obtain that trophy it's time to just play random ranked games to boost your level rank. You will need to get to at least level 4 rank in order to unlock 'Playtime Is Over' & 'Leading The Charge'. After you obtain those 2 trophies you have 2 options for going after the final ranked related trophy. You can either keep grinding out levels until you reach the 13th level (1st rank) or you can try to find someone who is already 1st rank and play a match against them. Either way, once you fullfill the requirements for either of those, you will get the 'Combat Specialist' trophy.

Step 4: Mission Mode

This will be the most challenging step for most players. These missions are like "trials" in other fighting games where you are given a certain move or combo and you are required to pull it off perfectly. Each of the 36 fighters have 10 missions each and they grow in difficulty as you move through them. For the trophies related to mission mode, you must reach the milestones of 80, 160 & 320 missions completed, this means you have a 40 mission leeway in which you can miss a few if you are having problems with them. Once you finish the 320 required for the last mission related trophy you will have obtained 'Welcome To Avengers Acadamy!', 'Passed The Field Test' & 'New Avenger'.

Step 5: Clean-Up

At this point you should have all of the trophies, if you haven't then just go back and clean up any that you are missing. Once you finish up the remaining trophies, sit back and enjoy your new platinum trophy!

View all endings in Arcade mode.

To view the ending for a specific character, you must defeat the final boss. Only the character that is active when you DEFEAT him is the character's ending you will get. This means that you need to land the final blow on the final boss with every character to view their ending.

If you are having problems winning with certain individuals to get their endings then there are 2 tips I can give you:

1) Put the settings to "Very Easy" difficulty, round time to 30 seconds and damage to Highest. You should have a cakewalk through to the final boss with those settings as you'll only need to last the 30 seconds with more health than your opponents and they are extremely easy to beat as they rarely block.

2) Pick 2 characters that you are comfortable with and make the third character the one whose ending you are going after. Once you get to the final boss, drain him down to basically no health left and then switch to that character and unleash on the boss. Try to save up 1-2 Hyper Combo bars if possible as that will drain his health quickly as well. Just make sure that he is not about to use one of his 1-hit kill attacks, if he is, get that character out of there quickly.

You also must let Galactus defeat you and then DO NOT continue after that so you can get his ending.

(Credit to BeardedBushMan for this information)

Once you get all 37 endings (32 from starting cast + 4 unlocked characters + Galactus'), the trophy will pop!

Beat Arcade mode without using any continues.

You must beat the game without losing a match and having to continue. Make sure to use a team that you are comfortable with when going for this. To make it easier, put the settings to "Very Easy" difficulty, round time to 30 seconds and damage to Highest. Once you beat the final boss without using any continues, the trophy will pop!

Beat Arcade mode on the hardest difficulty.

You must beat Arcade Mode on "Very Hard" difficulty. You CAN use continues if needed, so that helps make things a little easier. If you want to make this easier for you, select "Simple" operation mode, pick a team of projectile heavy characters (Deadpool, Taskmaster, Iron Man, Magneto, etc), then put the settings to "Very Hard" difficulty, round time to 30 seconds and damage to Highest.

Once the fight starts try to get as far as you can from the opponent and start spamming the :triangle: button (default control settings) while every so often unleashing your hyper combo (try to use it when they bring their helper character in as you will usually hit them both draining even more health). Just keep spamming and avoid/block any of their ultras (if possible) and try to make it to the end of the round with more health than them. When you get to the final boss, keep the same type of strategy for the first part of the battle, then just go combo/hyper crazy on him in the second half. Just make sure you block his attacks as best as possible as they will destroy you quickly if you don't. Once you finish him off and beat the game, the trophy will pop!

Earn 100,000 Player Points (PP).

You earn Player Points as you play through the Arcade Mode & Online. Depending on your skills you will earn more points in each match. I averaged around 2500-3500 for each run through in Arcade Mode while going for the different endings trophy, after doing this for all 36 endings you should be roughly around 90,000+ points (if not over the required 100,000). You should get the balance while doing the online ones, but if not, then just play through a few more rounds of Arcade Mode until you get there. Once you get over 100,000 PP, the trophy will pop!

Land an Uncanny Combo. (Arcade/online only)

You must land a combo of over 90+ hits to get an Uncanny Combo. The easiest way to do this is to select a team of Deadpool, Dante & Iron Man, put the difficulty at Very Easy (so that you won't have to worry about losing a teammate as you'll need all 3, plus it will make the CPU less likely to block your attacks) and time at 99 (to give you enough time to do everything). Start the fight and take out the first 2 opponents WITHOUT using your ultra combos, you want to make sure you have a level 3 hyper combo bar available for the last guy. Once the final opponent jumps into the battle hit the :l2: button to activate your Crossover Combination Hyper Combo. As long as they don't block it, you should easily get around a 100 hit combo. After you land it (or any other 90+ hit combo), the trophy will pop!

Surpass the rank of Fighter.

The rank of "Fighter" is the 4th rank in the game. In order to progress to it you must play online ranked games against opponents You will need to win a certain amount of games to move up the rankings whilst playing. The amount of games you need to win depends on your win/loss record and can vary from player to player. You can view your progress by looking at the bar under your rank description as it fills a little after each match that you win, it also shows how close you are to moving up to the next rank. Just keep fighting against opponents and once you reach Fighter rank the trophy will pop!

In Ranked Match, surpass the '1st' class rank, or fight someone who has.

There are 2 ways of doing this (one being alot easier than the other depending on your abilities).

1) You can rank yourself up to the "1st" class rank by fighting your way through ranked games. If you go this route then you will need to move up to the 13th rank. This will take you quite a while, especially in the later rank classes as your opponents will definitely be more difficult to beat as they will be in those ranks as well.

2) The easier way of doing this is to find someone who is already at "1st class" rank and play a ranked match against them. The nice thing about this method is that you don't have to win, just as long as you both finish the match to the end. You can try to find someone who has the required 1st class rank in the boosting thread HERE.

Whichever way you decide to go, as soon as you complete either method, the trophy will pop for you!

Clear 320 missions in Mission mode.

These missions are like the trials from other fighting games, but thankfully a little more forgiving than most. In these missions you are given a move or combo that you must pull off in the correct order.

Each character in the game has 10 missions for you to complete, meaning there is 360 altogether. However you will only need to clear 320 of those in order to get the trophy, so you can miss quite a few of them and still get it. If you find yourself struggling with one, skip it and move on to the next one as you can always come back to it later if needed.

Win a match without calling your partners or switching out. (Arcade/online only)

You must win a match without your partners help, or in other words without using the shoulder buttons (default controller settings) to call them into the fight. The easiest way to do this is to just pick Simple operation mode, set the difficulty to Very Easy, the time limit to 30 and the damage to Highest. Pick a projectile heavy fighter (Magneto, Taskmaster, etc) to begin the fight with and then whoever you want for the rest. When you start the fight, activate your hyper combo to hit the opponent, then spam the :triangle: button to shoot your projectile at him. If you fill your hyper combo bar again, unleash it on them. Just keep going until time runs out, but remember not to hit any of the partner buttons. Win the round to earn the trophy!

Pick a projectile heavy fighter (Magneto, Taskmaster, etc) to begin the fight with and then whoever you want for the rest. During the fight, make sure you do not move from your original spot so you know you won't accidently block. When you start the fight, activate your hyper combo to hit the opponent, then spam the :triangle: button to shoot your projectile at him. If you fill your hyper combo bar again, unleash it on them. Land 50 First Attacks in a match. (Arcade/online only)

This trophy is just as it sounds, you must land the first attack in a match 50 times. The hit CAN NOT be blocked or else it won't count. You will know you landed the attack first as "First Attack" will pop up on your side of the screen. Rinse and repeat 50 times to get the trophy!

Block 100 times. (Arcade/online only)

You need to block a total of 100 times. To block, you must either be holding away or down-away from your opponent when they attack you. If done correctly, you will take hardly any damage and it will show you still blocking the attack. The easiest way to do this is to set the time limit to infinite, put it on normal difficulty and then just block the entire fight. Rinse and repeat as needed until you get to 100 blocks and the trophy pops!

Use 1,000 Hyper Combo Gauge bars. (Arcade/online only)

You will most likely get this as you play through the game as normal. Your Hyper Combo Gauge is located at the bottom of the screen when you fight and fills as you attack and get attacked. Everytime you have a full bar, you are able to use a special ability (Hyper Combo, Crossover Hyper Combo, Snap Back, etc). Just make sure to use up everything you have in the bar before you finish the fight so you don't waste any of them. Once you use your 1,000th Hyper Combo bar the trophy will pop!

Perform 30 successful Advancing Guards. (Arcade/online only)

To perform an Advancing Guard, you must press 2 attack buttons simultaneously while guarding. If you do it correctly, you will push your opponent back and "Advancing Guard" will pop up on the screen. If you are struggling then try this: following method:

If the opponent you are going against has projectile attacks, keep moving away from them and keep a large gap between you two. Normally most of those characters (especially Ryu, Iron Man & Magneto) will start firing their projectiles at you. Just keep pressing away from them so that you will block the attack, as soon as it hits you and the "shield" pops up next to your character, press forward and the 2 attack buttons to perform this correctly. Just make sure that you wait until the shield pops up before hitting the buttons and it should work every time.

Perform 10 Snap Backs. (Arcade/online only)

To perform a Snap Back you must first have at least a Level 1 Hyper Gauge bar and your opponents must have more than 1 character left on their team. Now to do this make sure you are close to your opponent and then do a down-to-forward motion (down/down-forward/forward) on the controller and then hit either :l1: or :r1: (default controller setup / partner buttons). If this is done correctly you will knock the opponent off the screen and "Snap Back" will appear on the screen. Rinse and repeat and after the 10th Sap Back the trophy will pop!

Perform 10 Team Aerial Combos. (Arcade/online only)

To perform a team aerial combo you need to make sure your Hyper Gauge bar isn't full, you also need to make sure you don't have more than 1 person left on your team. To do this, have one of your characters launch an opponent into the air and follow them up to begin an air combo. Once you are up there and started the air combo press :cross: (default controller settings / special attack button) to bring in one of your partners and then resume the air combo. You can do this to bring in all of your partners but you only have to land it with one of them. Do this 10 times and the trophy will pop!

Get a 5 game win streak in Ranked Match.

You must play Ranked Matches online and win 5 in a row to obtain this trophy. As of right now i'm not sure if there is a way to boost this as it really doesn't give you an option to select your opponents other than by choosing region/level/language. The best thing I can say is to practice alot and always try to play people who are around your level to give you the best possible chance of wnning.

Here is a list of all 10 stages:

1) The Daily Bugle

2) Metro City

3) Demon Village

4) Kattelox Island

5) Hand Hideout

6) S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier

7) Asgard

Unlock all items in the Gallery.

You unlock items in the gallery by fighting in the various modes of play. In order to unlock everything in the gallery, you will need to view all the character's endings, play a match on every stage in the game, and complete at least one mission for every character. You can view your status by checking the gallery section at any time (there's a % amount at the top of the screen). Once you have unlocked everything and have reached 100% the trophy will pop!

Really Nice Guide Bro... Jus 1 Minor Error

Whose Side Are You On?

Bring about an end to the Civil War in an online match.

Easiest done with a Boosting Partner (which can be found HERE). Play an online match where you pick only Capcom or Marvel characters and your opponent picks only the opposite ones (ie Ryu, Akuma, & Wesker vs. Spiderman, Wolverine, & Deadpool). Now just finish the match (doesn't matter who wins) and the trophy will pop after it's over.

The Civil War Has NOTHING To Do With The Intro Video...lol...

It's Actually Iron-Man Vs Captain America... Confirmed By Me & 5 Others

Comics, MUA2 ANd Other Sources =-P

I had read on different sites that it was Marvel vs Capcom characters, but prehaps that is wrong. Can anyone else confirm this? If so then I'll change it.

I know I had Iron-Man in my group when I got the trophy, but I don't remember going against Captain America and thought they were all Capcom people I went against... Although I didn't see it pop, I only realized it after I checked my trophies later on, so it is possible.

Edit: Corrected in guide as I just confirmed it with my other account as well (thankfully someone picked Iron Man on my first try). Sorry for the confusion. Like I said, I was trying to figure it out since I missed it popping originally.

Hey guys, I'd like to know from the people who actually played at least a good portion of this missions if it's doable, or it's impossible as SF4.

It seems that this trophy it's the only one that would be really on your way to get the platinum, so I'm wondering how difficult it is.

I have like 10 left, and yes. It's doable. Not that hard, since there isn't much links, just chains. But if you suck at memorizing and applying, it's impossible 4 you.

I've really just began my run through the missions now, but compared to the SF4 trials, they are definitely easier. You don't have to be as precise with them as there is a little leeway in there (not alot, but at least some) and for the most part, the combos aren't insane to pull off like they were in SF4. Some of them are difficult though, but you should be able to get through way more than half without breaking a sweat. The 7-10 ones are the ones that might take a little time and practice.

Anybody knows what "challenge" are? (i don't know if it's the right translation, i play in french)

They are required to unlock tittles, you can check them in the titles section your card, in the bottom, it's said win 100000 BP and up of these titles it's said complete challenge 1, to 50 or 51 i can't remember..

ps: Great guide btw. I hope they release some achievement with jill, shuma, frank and doc oc..

Good guide so far. Some nice tips in here.

I have 2 minor things to point out: In the Herculean Task trophy tip, you mention using Cyclops...he is not in this game.

Also, you have a trophy listed as "Need a Healing Partner" when it should be "Need a Healing Factor".

Just some minor corrections :p

I was really terrible at SF4 challenges, and I've already beaten over 160 of MvC 3. It's nice because the challenges are really similar for everyone. For example, if you can beat one "air combo" mission, then you'll likely be able to pass everyones.

Still 320 feels really far away :)

Hopefully, I'll at least platinum this game as opposed to SFIV. Looks goof OF, I'll defintely be using it once I get my hands on the game.

That was just my way to plea to the creators to bring him back as DLC... Yeah, not exactly sure why I put him... I know I was looking at Iron Man and meant him, but for some reason I just had a brain fart

The trophy title is a main site error, so I'll have to get that corrected from the main list as well.

Thanks for the catches.

View all endings in Arcade mode.

To view the ending for a specific character, you must defeat the final boss, but only the character that is active when you DEFEAT him is the character's ending you will get. This means that you need to land the final blow on the final boss with every character once to view their ending.

If you are having problems winning with certain individuals to get their endings or you want to spees things up, there are 2 tips I can give you:

1) Put the settings to "Very Easy" difficulty, round time to 30 seconds and damage to Highest. You should have a cakewalk through to the final boss with those settings as you'll only need to last the 30 seconds with more health than your opponents and they are extremely easy to beat upon as they rarely block.

2) Pick 2 characters that you are comfortable with and make the third character the one whose ending you are going after. Once you get to the final boss, drain him down to basically no health left and then switch to that character and unleash on him. Try to save up 1-2 Hyper Combo bars if possible as that will drain his health quickly as well. Just make sure that he is not about to use one of his 1-hit kill attacks (if he is, get that character out of there quickly).

Once you get all 36 endings (32 from starting cast + 4 unlocked characters), the trophy will pop!

I believe you also need to view Galactus's ending. Simply lose to him and don't continue to see it.

I agree! I want Cyclops and Gambit as the next two DLC for Marvel. Then Megaman and Phoenix Wright for Capcom DLC :D

I've seen that posted elsewhere (on our sister site as well), but if you goto the Character Endings in the Gallery section, Galactus isn't listed there, so I don't know if he's required or not. I also looked in the Character's Artwork section (where there are gallery items unlocked for beating the game with the characters) and he's not there either. He's beat me while I was going for the Very Hard difficulty trophy, so I can't see that he counts as he's no where to be found in any of those areas that all have things unlock when you view their endings... I'm think I might add a disclaimer in there saying he might be needed, but until I can get some solid verification from others that he is, I'm not going to write it in stone.

His ending will appear at the bottom of the Endings in the Gallery once you get it, but I understand you'll want more verification. :)
