ROAD MAP:

Welcome to Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2! All our favorite heroes are together again to save the world... from themselves. This is an awesome game, which is good since you'll need to complete it twice to reach your platinum. I hope the following guide helps you out. If you have any questions or comments let me know!

STEP ONE: Complete the game on Super Heroic. Overall, this game is not very difficult, but there will be some challenging sections. During this playthrough you should focus primarily on staying alive! The Undefeated Heroes and Immortal Heroics can be earned in your Super Heroic playthrough. (If you do die however, don't fret, missions are stackable with your Legendary run, and can be made up in the Simulator.) In addition to the bulk of your Story-Based trophies, you may also want to use this run to work on: Tactical Training, Seek and Destroy, Uncontained Aggression, Old Friends, the Item Collection trophies, the Trivia trophies, and the Co-op trophies. You should also look at running the Simulator Challenges now since the difficulty here also increases in Legendary.(Thanks to Clin_Diesel for the tip!)

STEP TWO: Start a New Game + on Legendary and complete the game again! You'll keep all your stats, characters, etc. Use this run to make up any failed levels/bosses from last playthrough. Early on, you'll want to work for Back in Action on missions you've already successfully completed. Make sure to choose the opposite side of the Registration Act this time. Shortly after you choose sides, you may want to take a break and spend some time on Costume Collector, Powers of Two, United We Stand, and any of the Training trophies you may still be lacking!

STEP THREE: Clean up! Once you've finished on Legendary, ALL missions are open to you (Pro and Anti-Reg). Replay missions through the Simulator to collect missed items and run through any Simulator Challenges you haven't finished with your now maxed out squad. Congrats on your Platinum!!!

Defeat all Act I missions on Legendary Difficulty.

Once you complete the game on Heroic or Super Heroic, you get a New Game + option to play through on Legendary. This trophy is obtained during that playthrough.

Decorated Veterans (B)

Complete 24 maps in Co-Op.

This can be obtained online with a friend, or offline with two controllers. A quick and easy way to do this is to wait until you reach Stark Tower 2. Press Start on the second controller to activate co-op and enter the Simulator. In the Replay Menu, select Stark Tower 1. Once it loads up, run to the 'Next Mission console in the middle of the room and you will be returned to the Replay Menu. Repeat this process 23 more times for your trophy!

NOTE: There is a possible bug with this method wherein on leaving STARK 1 you end up having to play through the NY stages again. A good idea is to save on two separate files back and forth, if one messes up, load the other to avoid replaying these missions. More information can be found here.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/216/25.jpg

Seek and Destroy (B)

Complete all optional mission objectives.

There are 5 missions with Secondary objectives. You must complete them before you complete the primary objective, or you'll have to play the mission again from Replay. The missions are:

  1. Latveria, Ascension: Destroy 4 Turrets - These are easily spotted on either side of the path.
  2. Latveria, Reactors: Destroy 8 Cyborg Prototypes - The Cyborgs are suspended in giant green tubes. Hit a tube and it will start leaking, then the Cyborg will burst out. Beat him down! There are 6 on the second floor, and 2 on the 3rd. Be sure and search every nook and cranny for them, some are in hidden rooms.
  3. NYC, Factory Floors: Destroy 14 Pieces of Latverian Tech - Easy, bust stuff up! Shortly after you battle Grim Reaper, the first 12 are all found in the same room, then the last 2 are in the very next room.
  4. Washington D.C., Capitol Offense: Destroy 4 Munitions Piles - These are in the area with the fountain and the Rocket Enemies. Be sure and destroy them BEFORE you kill all 6 Rocket Enemies.
  5. Wakanda, Tribal City: Destroy 8 Teleportation Pods - These are the pods that hit the ground and spawn Leader Nanite-Enemies.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/216/26.jpg

Uncontained Aggression (B)

You or other players on your team must destroy 250 health containers.

Very easy. There are boxes throughout the game which give you HP and XP orbs when broken. Playing normally you'll get this no problem. However, if you feel extra destructive, you could probably get it before the end of Castle Doom!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/216/27.jpg

Undefeated Heroes (S)

Defeat 12 mission bosses on Super Heroic or Legendary Difficulty without revival or map reload.

For this trophy, you need to beat 12 MAIN Bosses (Mini-Bosses don't count) without reviving any teammates or having your whole team wiped and having to continue. If a Teammate falls while battling a Boss, simply continue fighting and DON'T revive them. If you defeat the Boss, you still get credit for this trophy. To track which bosses you have succeeded in beating without revival check your stats pages under Maps. Also note that any Bosses you fail to meet the requirements for can be replayed in the Simulator for credit!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/216/28.jpg

Immortal Heroics (G)

Defeat 25 maps on Super Heroic or Legendary Difficulty without revival or map reload.

For this trophy, you need to complete 25 Maps without reviving any teammates or having your whole team wiped and having to continue. If a Teammate falls during a level, simply continue playing and DON'T revive them. If you complete thelevel, you still get credit for this trophy. To track which Maps you have succeeded in beating without revival check your stats pages under Maps. Also note that any maps you fail to meet the requirements for can be replayed in the Simulator for credit!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/216/29.jpg

Back in Action (B)

Perform 10 revivals.

Easiest place to do this is in the Simulator Challenge 'Heavy Metal'. Activate all the bots at once and pound away. Once you get a Fusion Star, pull off a Targeted Fusion to gain a Health Restore. Once you've got a Health Restore let a teammate die, then hold :r1: and press the correct button to revive the fallen comrade. Do this 10 times!

Tactical Training (B)

Perform all 5 recommended training Fusions in Latveria.

These are all completed in Mission 1. You will be prompted where necessary so don't worry about missing them. The Fusions, in order are:

  1. Any type of fusion
  2. Any type of fusion
  3. Spider-Man & Wolverine
  4. Iron Man & Wolverine
  5. Captain America & Wolverine

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/216/31.jpg

Heroes Unite (B)

Perform 10 Fusions with another player-controlled hero in a Co-Op game.

Also very easy. Load up Simulator Challenge 'Basic Combat' and hit Start on controller 2 to activate co-op. Now hold :l2: to bring up the Fusion icons, instead of a button press on controller 1, you'll just hit :l2: on controller 2 to perform the Fusion! Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/216/32.jpg

United We Stand (S)

Earn 20 high scores for each type of Fusion: Targeted, Guided, and Clearing.

Each Fusion type has a different 'High Score' attached to it:

Guided Fusions require you to hit 15 enemies.

Clearing Fusions require you to hit 12 enemies.

Targeted Fusion require you to connect to 1 boss or leader.

This will come naturally through playing the game. If you're in a hurry, load up Simulator Challenge 'Basic Combat' and play through to the infinite spawn switches. Activate all three and Fusion away! The only ones that you CANNOT get in the sim are the Targeted Fusions, as there are no bosses or leaders. Just focus on using them as often as possible during your campaign and it'll unlock no problem.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/216/33.jpg

Powers of Two (G)

Perform all Fusions by combining every available pairing of 24 heroes.

This is easiest left until you've acquired ALL the characters. (At the beginning of Act 3, you'll have all the basic characters unlocked, provided you've been successful at hunting, you'll probably have the three Item Unlock characters as well. Jean Grey, Hulk, Thor). Once you've got them all, head to the Simulator Challenge 'Basic Combat' and clear it up to the infinite spawn switches. Once you get there:

  1. Choose a team of 4, but focus on the first character in the line up.
  2. Perform a Fusion with each of the other 3 characters.
  3. Swap out the 3 secondary characters with 3 new ones.
  4. Repeat step 2.
  5. Continue this pattern until you've finished with character 1.
  6. Swap character 1 and repeat the process.

NOTE: A fusion counts for both characters, regardless of who initiates. So if I use Jean Grey and Fusion with Hulk, I DO NOT need to use Hulk and Fusion with Jean Grey.

There are several Secret Conversations to be had in each HQ setting. Simply speak to the person on the left with any of the characters list on the right. These can be done during Replay. (Credit for this list goes to Tony198706 of the Gamespot Forums)

Sim Champion (B)

Earn 12 Gold Medals from Simulator Missions.

All of the sim challenges are fairly simple, as soon as you have the correct team and Boosts equipped! I suggest waiting until after your Legendary playthrough before attempting them though. You'll want high-level Boosts for some of them.

Jean Grey. She is the Sim Challenge queen. You'll want to use her Square Power a lot. The only troublesome Challenges are Heavy Metal and Adrenaline Surge, so I've listed my strategies for them. Keep in mind the Boosts listed below are unlocked in Legendary, so if you choose to do the Challenges during your Super Heroic run, you'll have to use different Boosts. They'll be the same name, just lower numbers. (i.e. Power Up II, Striker III, etc.)

Heavy Metal:

Team: Jean Grey, Human Torch, Storm and Thor.

Boosts: Wade's Fave, Power Up IV, Reserves IV

Rush from one end of the room to the other while activating ALL the switches. You should have a good grouping of Robots now. Double Jump and Glide over the group with Jean and use your Triangle Power to sap their energy. Be sure and hit triangle repeatedly to enlarge the area of attack. If you run out of energy, hit the ground and use a Clearing Fusion with Thor. Once they're all destroyed, rush back down the room and activate the switches again. Repeat this process 4 times for the Gold score.

Adrenaline Surge:

Team: Hulk, Thing, Venom, Nick Fury

Boosts: Wade's Fave, Striker IV,

Keep your multiplier up! Use jump attacks to avoid lots of damage. When you get a Fusion Star, try and hold onto it until you get a 3x Multiplier, then do a clearing fusion on a large group of guards. It took me a few tries, but it's not too difficult. Experiment with different boosts that fit your play style.

Breakout

Team: Jean Grey

Boosts: N/A

The best thing to keep in mind here is that the Bots only go on alert at spotting YOU. Your teammates and rescued friends will not trigger them. Use Jean's Square Power to stun them if you must cross paths. Also note that there are FOUR exits from the are, not just the one you start from, so choose the exit nearest you and make for it!

Melee Training (B)

Complete all melee training goals listed on the Stats page.

You can use the the in-game stats menu to see the goals to accomplish this. Very, easy, you'll likely get it without trying.

Power Training (B)

Complete all Power training goals listed on the Stats page.

Also easy. Again, use the in-game stats menu to see the goals to accomplish this.

Every Trick In The Book (S)

Complete all combat mastery goals listed on the Stats page.

Trickiest trophy for me. Could NOT figure out how to get a few of these:

Get a 5 Explosion Chain Reaction: There is a bug in this trophy!

Knock down 5 foes with 1 object: Load up Washington DC: Capitol Offense. Clear the first area, and carry a car all the way to where the downed chopper is, and all the guys climbing the wall. Look for a grouping and chuck the car at them!

Robots destroyed with own grenades: Load up the Simulator Challenge 'Heavy Metal'. Choose Jean Grey, Hulk, Thing and Venom. Activate 1 robot and use your X Power on it until it's almost dead, then hold L2, like you're going to use Fusion, but DON'T. This will freeze your 3 teammates allowing the Robot to lock onto you and launch a grenade. Pick it up and throw it back. It may take a couple nades, but you'll get him! Now activate another and repeat.

Alt Strategy by Thoran: When it says to destroy 20 robots with their own grenade, this isn't true, you can destroy any robot with any other robot's grenades and you will get this. An easy place to do this is in Prison 42, where Fury says something like "Great, now the security bots come online". You will be attacked by a swarm of small robots with a large grenade tossing robot positioned on either end of the walkway you are on. Just keep grabbing the grenades and tossing them at the little robots and you should be able to get 20 fairly quickly.

Hits with Fire, Cold, and Electricity: Equip the Ice Strike, Fire Strike, and Shock Smash Boosts and go to town. You'll get it in LITERALLY a few seconds. (Thanks to mokarapiromya for the question and xYx1999 for the tip!)

Awesome. Going to borrow from a friend ASAP.

Friend (you know who you are): Expect a call soon...

Lol. Awesome. Well, I think the guide's about done. Need to add my Boost Selections for the Challenges in a bit. If I see recurring questions I'll add them to the guide!

Also a head's up, there's a collectibles guide in the works at x360a. Links in the guide!

Haven't looked over the guide yet, but just by glancing at the road map I can see a few changes that need to be made. Please review this thread and update the map accordingly. I'll look at the guide later on, maybe this evening or tomorrow and PM you any questions or concerns I have.

Glad you said that! I had re-written my Roadmap in TXT but forgot to copy it over! Hope everything looks peachy now. I'm running through the Simulators again to list my Boost combos. :)

playing in coop from start

would it be easier or its beter to have an AI as a partner?

If you've got a good co-op partner you should be just fine. You increase your risk of dying a little, but it's no biggie since you can make-up levels in the sim later if needed. I played the first half of my first run in co-op... then I just couldn't wait on him anymore so I went ahead!!! :D

you sure it better to wait until after you beat legendary to do sims i found it nearly impossible to do some of them in legendary.but a walk in the park when i finished super heroic.

Really? I honestly hadn't thought about the difficulty changing from one mode to the other. I had a few tries to get Heavy Metal, but everything else I got in my first or second try. Good to note though, I'll add it to the guide!

Very good guide switchfreak. Great work. It's helping me tons!

I seem to have discovered a MAJOR bug in the game. It would be good to add this to your guide.

For the Rookie Squad / Experienced Allies / Decorated Veterans trophies in the method you have outlined:

You must exit the simulator completely after pressing the "Exit Mission" button in Stark HQ 1. If you re-enter Stark HQ 1 from the Sim screen without completely exiting, then when you actually do exit later on, the game will return you to the Stark HQ 1 in the real game.

This means that unless you have a previous game save, you will have to play through the entire NYC factory level again to get to Stark HQ 2. Very annoying.

Also, you don't have to repeat the procedure 24 times. As I noticed when you enter the Sim for Stark HQ 1, the game counts that as 1 co-op map completed. When you exit the Sim, the game counts that as another co-op map completed. So you have to do it 12 times max to get the final trophy.

Hope this helps people.

isnt it easier to just play it on heroic the 1st time?

i can stil unlock legendary...

whats the difrence anyways?

I played through on Heroic my first time, and I got my Undefeated Heroes and Immortal Heroics trophies no problem on my Legendary playthrough. I made the guide from a Super Heroic/Legendary stand to reduce replay time for those trophies. I've played all three difficulties and Super is not much more difficult than Heroic, so I figure why not? :)

Good plan! The only trouble I ran into with that method was my teammates butchering the small robots before I could grenade them! Still a valid strategy though, I'll add it tonight! Thanks!

The trick there is, if you end up in Stark HQ1 for real, to save and load. Should pop you right back into your actual HQ. However, I'll keep my ears (eyes) open and add it to the guide if I see more reports of this bug. Until then, I will link to this post. Thanks!
