Figma
http://i.imgur.com/pQQIUCH.png http://i.imgur.com/LNHUVkY.png Overview: Estimated trophy difficulty: 5/10 (Trophy Difficulty Rating) Offline trophies: 14 (11(B), 2(S), 1(G)) Online trophies: 0 Approximate amount of time to 100%: 20hrs+ Minimum number of playthroughs: 1: ⅓ (One full and reload on final chapter) Number of missable trophies: 5: Hero of the Resistance , Man of Honour , Mentor , Specialist , Completionist Glitched trophies: 1: Completionist Does difficulty affect trophies? Yes: Hard as Nails , Mutant Introduction: Mars: War Logs is science-fiction RPG set on Mars. The story revolves around a war between two corporations/guilds, Aurora and Abundance, to take control of Mar's water supply which is the most precious resource on the red planet. The game is mix of Rage/Fallout/Red Faction and pretty fun for a low budget title. To get 100% you need to play the game on the hardest difficulty (Extreme). It's not too bad other than couple annoying parts where enemies might overwhelm you a little. Doing all the side quests (well not all since the trophy is glitched and unlocks earlier) along the the way, upgrading your Skill Tree fully and searching containers/enemies will help on Extreme. Walkthrough: Step 1: Extreme Playthrough Start the game on the hardest difficulty setting, play the game and follow the side mission list, talking to Innocence, searching containers and upgrading renegade skill tree. Once you reach the end of chapter 2, make a manual save before doing the mission "Choose A Side!" Step 2: Reload Reload the save made before the "Choose A Side mission", join the other group and play the final chapter again. This time you can lower the difficulty to your liking. Take care of the guards first, use sand throw on everyone and try to get them close to each other so they damage each other while blinded. Order Innocence to guard (, ). First is the worm, his attack patterns are easy to notice. When he comes near you go smack his face (staying on his right side seems safer as he can get stuck doing the same attack with his left jaw that can't hit you) and when he back away, roll to towards screen. If he lowers the skull mask then don't go try to attack him. 2nd Boss: Technomancer leader With the help of your friend, this is easy. Just beat him and roll if tries to hit you. The Nailgun does good damage when his shields are down. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1837/04.jpg Hero of the Resistance Finish the game with the Resistance at any difficulty level Missable! Press or press and select skills from menu and choose either Renegade (recommended for Extreme) or Combat and a level 1 skill. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1837/07.jpg Recycling Upgrade an object Press go to inventory and choose weapons or armors, if the weapon or armor has brown circle on right side of it then it can be upgraded by pressing . http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1837/08.jpg Pest Control Kill 15 moles In the mission "First Step In Prison" you will access the Drilling Well where you must eliminate some moles, you will most likely unlock the trophy here if you find and kill them all. You need 36 skill points to max out out one tree. For Extreme it's recommended to max out the Renegade tree, it being stealth based helps to sneak up on enemies, knock them out by one hit and hiding the bodies. Doing that you can clear whole areas without enemies ever seeing you. The combat tree also has few skills to help you stay alive, which Science Of Evasion, Tough Skin, Accelerated Metabolism and Weapons Mastery but be careful not to spend too many points on other trees and miss your chance to fully upgrade your main tree. Square boxes that have lights on them and little junk piles count as containers. Note: Containers usually glow but not always. Make sure you look everywhere since they contain components that are very useful when upgrading or selling. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1837/12.jpg Completionist Finish all the secondary quests in Mars: War Logs Missable! This trophy is also glitched (but in a good way it seems). You don't need to do all side quests, the trophy unlocked for me in Chapter 3 after doing only a couple of them. Here is a list of Side Quests (there is more) and the order to do them. Always try to do these first before the Main Story missions (spoilers): [spoiler=sidequests] The Blues Talk to Bob and tell him to join your escape (do not kill him) Handyman’s Assistant Mechanic gives this An Explosive Plan Prowess gives this The Lucky Charm Jey gives this Another Face Part of The Lucky Charm Mean Dogs Do not do this before The Lucky Charm / Another Face Escape Together Part of The Blues Chapter 2: Smuggling When you enter Shadowlair guard stops you, tell him that you escaped and that you know Prowess after that the quest unlocks little later in Tierville A Bartender With No ID Find Tranquillity from The Sand and do this quest before doing story missions False Identification Part of A Bartender With No ID Requiem For Dreamers Do not kill the kids The Dealer Part of Requiem For Dreamers Working For Charity Charity gives this The Exhibitionist Charity gives this The Bad Player Charity gives this, kill morality for "The Mafias Threat's" quest The Mafia’s Threats Charity gives this Fidelity Lost Find Fortitude from slums The Coin Killer Talk to Faith and do not kill Gallantry, just beat him The Transporter Charity gives this Chapter 3: Theft From The Stores Help them do not kill A Helping Hand For The Mutants Part of Theft From Stores Sympathy For The Farmer Talk to Tolerance in Green Hope A Job To Do Talk to Tolerance again Coin Killer Strikes Again Part of The Coin Killer. Talk to people in Green Hope, the killer can be found in the Hydroponic Fields Electrical Relationship or A Passionate Woman Talk to Mary or Judy and tell them how you feel http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1837/13.jpg Hard as Nails Finish the game in Difficult mode Finish the game on Hard or Extreme. See Mutant. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1837/14.jpg Mutant Finish the game in Extreme mode When starting new game, select Extreme Difficulty. See below for some tips: Go for a Renegade build, try to unlock Assassins skill as soon as possible and try to stealth kill enemies to make fights easier. Always work on side quests before main quests and make manual save regularly in case you choose wrong the wrong dialogue options and miss a side mission or get stuck on hard part. There is also parts where you can farm kill enemies for xp if needed. There are a lot of dialogue choices which affect outcome of story and character development, meaning it's important (especially on Extreme) to try and be a "good" guy to gain allies to help at some parts of the game. The reputation abilities (-50% off cost of items and +50% health & damage upgrade to partner) help much more than "bad" reputation abilities and don't harvest dead enemies. Search all boxes, junk piles and enemies to get components that you can use to upgrade weapons and armor. Remember to upgrade your weapons and armor if you get new and better ones. Since you get a lot of components you can also sell these (chemical components) to get some extra serum (money) to buy items you might need. Make sure you have health injection packs and other useful items (Grenades/Nailgun ammo) in your inventory in case you get stuck on a fight. Remember to make use of sand throw and try to make enemies hit each other by blinding them. You can choose an attack strategy for your partner by pressing then . vinster
Firstly, thanks for the guide. Now that this is out of the way, here're my rants. Difficulty: - So I started on Extreme as suggested, and just finished Chapter 1, but barely. - I had to skip some areas in the Drilling Mines and miss some loot, since there were too many moles to fight. - I just started Chapter 2 and got my ass handed to me at the first checkpoint after Innocence finds out his house is destroyed. I managed to sneak pass the guards near his house, but after the cutscene, you have no choice but to battle the many guards that appear. My melee hardly damages them. I'm out of nail ammo and grenades since I used them on the last boss battle. I don't think I can pass them. WTF? - I'm level 13 and upgraded my bone tool and reinforced prisoner uniform. My skill tree is only at the first tier (inner circle) and can't get to unlock the other tiers (haven't reached amateur rank yet - how the heck do you reach that?!). I have about 17 skills points that I can't use... Can you provide some details on when the other skill tiers will be unlocked? - Does leveling up help? It seemed that it hardly did any good for me. If I'd known, I'd spent some time farming XP on Chapter 1. And how/where should one farm in chapter 1? Cistern? Mushroom fields? - Is there a New Game+ on this? If so, I would rather play on normal to level up first and then attempt Extreme. - In your Mutant trophy write-up, you said '...and don't harvest dead enemies.' And then the very next lines says 'Search all boxes, junk piles and enemies to get components ...'. This got me confused. I think you meant to say that it is OK to press 'X' to search defeated enemies, but don't press 'Triangle' to extract Serum and thus kill them. - Are you sure being a 'good' guy is recommended for Extreme? I could use the extra serum from finishing enemies with 'Triangle' to buy ammo and grenades. Only Bob helped me at the end of Chapter 1 and that was not much. Even doing all 'good' stuff, my reputation is still 'Neutral' after Chap 1. - I say the difficulty alone should be at least 8/10. Side Quests: - Damn these quests: I managed to do all the side quests in Chapter 1, but almost screwed some up. They are not straighforward at all and consist of multiple sub-quests within! You often have to go back and forth between some persons of interests and there is no indication with whom you need to speak to and how to answer. I often got lucky and when I re-spoke to some person of interest (eg. Prowess), I would get the next step to a side quest. - For Mean Dogs, you said 'Do not do this before The Lucky Charm / Another Face'. What the heck does this mean?! Mean Dogs has about 7 to 8 objectives. I started it as soon as it was available and got to the part when you need to collect 3 samples. Then I stopped it on account of your advice. After a long time waiting and finishing both Lucky Charm and Another Face, I continued with getting the last dog sample and manage to finish the side quest. - To make this a better guide, I suggest you provide more advice on how to answer the questions (eg. I heard for Mean dogs that if you don't answer correctly, you get some other 'meal' side quest instead), and also the various sub-quests involved in the side-quest. Mentor trophy: - Can you please provide more details? So far, I've tried to answer nicely to all of Innocence's conversations in Chap 1. There is one I did not do which is the 'Leave me alone' one, since it sounded rude. Anyway, thanks for hearing me out. I bought this game wanting something relatively short and of average difficulty, but I got way more than I bargained for! If you can help on the above, I'd appreciate, especially on Chapter 2 beginnign since I'm stuck - should I reload a save file from Chapter 1 and try to level up more? Thanks. Figma
Skill tiers unlock by leveling up, i think it was lvl16 when you get 2nd, you can see them at bottom left corner. Cistern in chapter 1 is good place to run back and forth to get some xp. If you stuck in chapter 2 after the innocence house part theres not much you can do other than keep trying, i was stuck there too for a while until i got lucky. and after that you get to town again to re-supply. Note that you can build ammo, health and grenades from inventory too but it costs more. There is no new game + Harvesting is turning enemies to serum, its alright to search them for loot. And in long tern its better to have 50% of shop/build than turning enemies to serum. difficulty is from poll results. For mean dogs, if you progress to far in it, then you cannot do lucky charm / another face. For mentor there is not much to it other than starting the conversation once in a while, leave me alone is not dialog option but command tell your partner to go away. I will try Chapter 2 again later and if I'm still stuck, I'll reload from Chapter 1 and try to do some farming. Not looking forward to this, so I'm hoping I can avoid this and make it through the beginning of Ch 2. Reading the difficulty poll, it seems that after the beginning of Chapter 2, it starts to get easier. I'm hoping so! By the way, there're only 2 responses to the difficulty poll, one other player and yourself, so it may not be all that representative! I'll be sure to add my feedback after I've completed the game. FWIW, according to this site, only 3 (out of 140) users have 100% this game, so it is still considered 'extreme' where difficulty is concerned: PSN Trophy Leaders | Mars: War Logs If you can provide more info or links on the sub-quests, I'd appreciate it. If not, I'll try to find out on my own and not screw up!
Figma
I wouldnt go back to farm because even if you manage to get couple levels it wont help much on that part. you just needs to try group them and blind them, kill gun men first. also put innocence to defense so few enemies focus on him. Difficulty poll currently is the best representive for difficulty, like its shows there that 3 people have completed this game and 3 has voted here on poll.. game is fairly new and not many is interested in it. There is wiki on works for this game which will be helpful on quests later but for right now i found this here which should give you some info. NovaSD
You're on the toughest section of the game right now, and that fight you're on is the hardest fight in the game. I voted Chapter 2 as a 7 in difficulty, because it really is challenging. It will be tough until you finish out your Renegade skill tree, then you can just nailgun spam things and never run out of injections which make you a god for 20 seconds. You just have to get lucky on that part, it took many tries to get past it, and I didn't have any grenades or nailgun ammo either, just a good wounding weapon and throw sand is all you need. vinster
Sigh, I found out what a dufus I was. I hadn't realized that in the skill tree, you can upgrade a particular skill up to 3 times! Then it unlocks the next one up. So I had all those points I did not use and made it oh so much tougher on myself at the beginning of Chapter 2! Arrggh! It didn't seem obvious to me initially. At least I realized it now and things are a little easier. Chapter 2 seems decent after the first part and I actually did a bit of farming earlier as well. NovaSD
Yeah once you pass that part you can find a merchant and buy some better gear in the next area. Congrats on toughing it out and passing it though, should be a bit easier from now on.
vinster
Argh, I completed most of the side quests in chapter 2 and have met the resistance. I was wondering why the Mafia's Threat wasn't available from Charity. After a little searching, I realized that you need to kill Morality in The Bad Payer to activate Mafia's Threat! Why isn't this mentioned in this guide? Am I screwed now of the Completionist trophy? Should I carry on or reload an earlier chapter 2 save file and redo again? How could you leave this important fact out?!

vinster
There is more quests then you need there and you will most likely still get. And i dont know every possible scenario the game has to offer. To be safe, I will just load an older save file and try for all of Charity's side quests again. Why I was annoyed was because I spent a bit a of time farming/leveling up so that I can get skill points to use on the skills I wanted. Now that time is wasted. Anyway, I found this site which has a lot more useful info on the side quests, what to do and what not to do: Completionist Achievement in Mars: War Logs My older save file is just before the point where Charity starts giving out the side quests, so I think I should be good. Thus far, I feel that the game deserves at least a 7/10 difficulty. I would bump it up to 8 owing to no Platinum and the fact that if plays like a full length game. vinster
Got some time to play this holiday weekend and finally got my 100%! As for the Completionist trophy, after doing all the listed side quests in Chapters 1 and 2, the trophy unlocked for me after completing these side quests from Chapter 3: - Theft From The Stores - A Helping Hand For The Mutants - Sympathy For The Farmer - A Job To Do (Completionist trophy unlocked after finishing this) I didn't need to do 'Coin killer strikes again' or any of the romance side quests (Judy or Mary or Devotion). If you wish to make this guide better and more thorough, you could include spoiler answers for some of the side-quests, since a few of them are tricky and will determine whether you unlock other side-quests or fail in them. The achievement link I gave earlier has better info than what you have here, but you can make it even better in your guide to avoid possible frustration like I encountered! While I played the good guy in my Extreme playthrough (although my reputation was Neutral all the way...), I still think playing with a bad reputation may be easier. Weapon Wounding was pretty important to me and there is an attribute feat that one could get extra wounding for having a bad reputation Anyway, thanks again for the guide. Theophobos
Good guide, thanks for the work, Figma. Just 100 %'ed the game this weekend. For the most part your guide is pretty accurate, but here's a few thoughts and/or suggestions. I concur with vinster in that this game is best played as a villain, striving for the bad reputation boni. I tried to play the good guy but ended up being neutral. Only thing I can think of that I've done wrong was that in a few quests you are given the choice to spare a certain person or kill them off. I took the killing option for the exp sake. And it seems that locked my reputation to neutral. As there is no "how to become the paragon of good behaviour" guide on this site, I suggest new players stick to being a bad guy, or if trying for the good guy, never kill anybody, unless it's required for a future side quest (as mentioned by vinster). But then again that one kill might be enough to lock reputation. One more thing that favours a bad rep playthrough is that the shop discount is not really that important. I only bought components to build nailgun ammo and grenades, and ended up having way too much of both. But the wounding factor is great. Even the toughest enemy is down in no time when he's wounded. The second good guy bonus, i.e. more health for your companions, is in my experience less important than being able to quickly wound an enemy. My guys could well handle a few hits from several enemies, except for Mary. Though she's hot, she ain't the best choice as a companion and even hurts you when she's using her spells. I found Devotion to be a good choice, she could really hold her ground on my extreme playthrough. Overall it didn't make much difference anyway, you end up with so much serum that you can literally spam grenades and nailgun after a certain time into the game. I totally enjoyed the game, it's sad that this title got overlooked, as it's one of the finest RPGs I've played so far. And the planetary setting (like Mars) hasn't been sucked dry yet, so that's a refreshing motive.
