Introduction:

In Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom you play as Tepeu, a thief who has the unique ability to be able to speak with animals. Very early in your adventure you meet a Majin, a powerful magical monster that you team up with to restore the once flourishing kingdom from the darkness that has destroyed it. The game is developed by Game Republic, same people that brought us Folklore and the Genji games. This is an action adventure title that has you solving puzzles, exploring a beautiful open world, fighting against the forces of darkness and building upon your friendship with your new pal, the Majin.

Road Map:

Step 1: Play the game/Search for all collectables

During this step you should concentrate on playing the game and enjoying yourself, a lot of the trophies will just come naturally but there are a few that you will have to put some effort towards. The first one that you should immediately concern yourself with is Trap Master. If you don’t actively work toward this the whole game or use ANUBUSNYC’s method near the beginning of the game (see Trap Master below) this could end up forcing you to either start a new game or to use another more time consuming farming method to achieve. It’s in no way missable, it’s just easier to get if you’re aware of it from the start.

Also, unless you want to backtrack a LOT before you take on the final boss, I would recommend getting all of the collectables as you go. Most areas you enter you can completely clear of all collectables before you move on, there are a few that you need to come back to later on once you’ve acquired certain powers, but for the most part, you can clean out areas pretty easily so there’s no point not too. The one exception to this would be the memory shards, as they ONLY appear at night time. So, occasionally you may have to wait around for night to fall or else just skip one or two shards and come back once night has begun.

Step 2: Clean Up/Grinding XP for Brave One.

If you’ve followed the guide you should have almost all the trophies by the time you reach the final dungeon on your way to the last boss. All the final collectables that you’ll need for those trophies are in this final dungeon. There is a save point right before the final boss that you can reload and get anything you missed even if you beat the game, but rather than doing that I would recommend reading the trophy descriptions for Brave One and Battle Master in order to clean up any final trophies you need before taking on the ‘King of Darkness’, that way once the credits roll you’ll be done with the game and will have your platinum trophy!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/504/36.jpgTrap Master (B)

Defeat over 30 enemies with traps

This trophy is easy to miss if you’re not actively trying to get it throughout the entire game but due to a couple good spots to farm it, if necessary, it is not missable. Trap kills are any time you use the Majin to push down a wall or boulder onto enemies, also any time you throw a stone at a land mine (red eyeball looking things that you’ll see on the ground/walls) and it kills an enemy.

There are not many chances in the game to use the Majin for this so when you do get the opportunity make sure you get as many kills as possible with the boulder/wall you’re pushing. Also any time you see a mine like I described above, try your best to kill a nearby enemy with it, you may have to weaken the enemy a bit by hitting them a few times first before the mine will kill them.

Refer to this thread for info on good places to farm this out.

Thanks to ANUBUSNYC and Legoman for finding them!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/504/36.jpgHeadlong Rush (B)

Attack shielded enemies 100 times

You will fight a LOT of shielded enemies throughout the game, more so towards the end, but regardless, this trophy should come without you even needing to try for it. Simply attack shielded enemies whenever you see them and once you’ve done it over 100 times the trophy will pop. If for some reason you do not have this before the end of the game, enemies do respawn in several areas and it shouldn’t be too hard to track some down to help you get it.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/504/36.jpgSneak Master (B)

Defeat 50 enemies with sneak attacks

There are several times during the game that you will have to play a stealth section where you’re encouraged to sneak around enemies rather than take them head on. During these sections or any other time during the game that you get the chance to get behind an enemy without them noticing you’ll notice :circle: come up on the bottom of the screen, push it and you will perform a stealth kill or “sneak attack” on the enemy. Do this 50 times and the trophy will unlock.

I unlocked this trophy without trying too hard for it and it shouldn’t be a problem for most, just make sure that any time you get the opportunity to perform a sneak attack you do. Once again, enemies do respawn in certain areas so you can farm this one out if you need too.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/504/32.jpgCombination Master (B)

Defeat 300 enemies with combination attacks

A combination attack is any time the Majin has stunned an enemy and a :circle: prompt appears at the bottom of the screen with both your head and his showing beside it (Their heads look the same as they do displayed beside their life bars). Push :circle: and then you and the Majin will perform a combo attack, usually finishing off the enemy.

Note that you must be somewhat close to the Majin to do these attacks, you can tell if the Majin is too far away if his head is not displayed beside :circle: at the bottom of the screen. If only Tepeu’s head is, he will perform a finisher of his own and this will NOT count towards this trophy.

You may have to grind a bit for this trophy if you don’t tend to pull these off very often, they’re not hard to do by any means but by the end of the game I did not have this one. So just make sure you’re doing it as often as possible and if needed you can grind it out later in the game. See Brave One.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/504/32.jpgFinish Master (B)

Defeat more than 50 enemies with finish attacks

While in combat and performing combination attacks with the Majin you will notice a bar filling up at the bottom of the screen, every time you successfully pull off a combination attack this bar will continue to fill. Once it’s full it will begin flashing, if you perform another combination attack in this time instead of the normal combo attack animations you will do a more powerful “finish attack”. You will know if you’ve done one as time slows down for a bit while you’re in the air. These attacks also have an area effect so it will damage and sometimes kill any nearby enemies as well, not just the stunned enemy that you performed the attack on. Once you’ve defeated 50 enemies with finish attacks this trophy will unlock. Elemental finish attacks also count towards this trophy, I’ll explain more on those later.

Defeat over 500 enemies

Simply fight and defeat 500 enemies and this trophy will unlock, this should come over time while playing the game normally. If for some reason you haven’t got it before you beat the game there is a good spot near the end of the game that you can grind out kills. See Brave One.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/504/32.jpgBattle Master (S)

Defeat 5 or more enemies at once using a finish or combination attack

Like I explained in the description for the Finish Master trophy, finish attacks have an area effect that can damage and/or kill nearby enemies. To get this trophy you must perform one that kills five or more enemies. There are a few places in the game that this is possible in. Below is a video that shows one of the best spots which is near the end of the game. This same spot is also a great place to get any remaining combat related trophies as this group of enemies constantly respawns.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/504/32.jpgPurification God (H) (S)

Defeat over 10 enemies with a purification finish attack

These attacks are performed mostly the same way as finish attacks, the only difference is that instead of the Majin stunning the enemy with one of his normal attacks, you must order him to attack enemies with one of his spells, whichever one you’re trying to get the trophy for. Once the spell is cast you can tell if the enemy has been stunned by it the following ways:

Wind - they will be lying on the ground with green wind circling them.

Fire - they will be covered in red flames.

Lightning - they will be surrounded by blue electricity.

Purification - they will be turned into purple crystals.

Once this happens you must perform a finish attack on the enemy (remember the combo bar at the bottom must be full and flashing). You will know by the attack animation if it is done correctly, much like regular finish attacks, time will slow down in the air and you’ll notice your weapon imbued with the element of the spell you just cast.

Open all treasure chests

There are several treasure chests throughout the game and just as the trophy description says you must open all of them to unlock this trophy. Thankfully the in game map helps you out quite a bit with finding them.

When you pull up the map with the select button you will notice boxes with question marks on the top left side of the screen underneath where it says what area you’re in, this tells you how many items/treasure chests/memory shards/fruit are in the area. It doesn’t tell you exactly what those question marks represent until you find them, but it does tell you that there are collectables left in that area to grab which makes all the collectable trophies in the game quite easy to obtain. None of the chests are difficult to find, some require you to back track later in the game once you’ve acquired the right Majin power to help you get them, but you really shouldn’t have too much trouble finding them in general. Each area in the game is usually pretty small so searching them doesn’t take too much time or effort. I found them all with no help from any guide or walkthrough.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/504/25.jpgCosplay Master (S)

Get all costumes

There are seven different full costume sets you can find throughout the game, all of them except one can be found in pieces inside treasure chests. So as long as you get all the treasure chests in the game you will get all the costumes besides one which I will explain in a moment.

Each costume has a piece for the head, one for the wrists and then the main piece for the chest/rest of the body. Also, each piece of a costume besides the default one that you start the game with grants you additional abilities while you wear them, these could be anything from increased attack power to reducing the damage you'll take from certain enemies. It's always a good idea to check out new costume pieces as you get them to see what new ability they may have.

The one that you do not get by finding chests is the “First King” costume set. You are rewarded pieces of this set as you collect memory shards. There are a total of 35 memory shards in the game and they only appear at night time. Each area in the game that has collectables will have just ONE memory shard. So once you’ve found the shard for that area, you can move on to the next. You will know if you are missing a memory shard in an area the same way you’ll know if you’re missing a treasure chest or any other items by using the game map to see if there are any collectables left in the area you’re in.

Once you have collected all the costume sets this trophy will unlock.

These are the yellow spiked fruits surrounded by electricity that you’ll find in the game and feed to the Majin, each one will upgrade his lightning power. There are 3 total in the game, once you find them all, the trophy will unlock. For more info see Ultimate Purification Power.

These are the red flame shaped fruits that you’ll find in the game and feed to the Majin, each one will upgrade his flame power. There are 3 total in the game, once you find them all, the trophy will unlock. For more info see Ultimate Purification Power.

These are the purple fruits that you’ll find in the game and feed to the Majin, each one will upgrade his purification power. There are 3 total in the game, once you find them all, the trophy will unlock.

Just like with treasure chests and memory shards you can tell if you are missing any of these by checking the game map. Most of them are in plain sight, some are slightly hidden and others you can’t get without first acquiring another power and then backtracking back for it but none of them are hard to find. Again, just use the map to see if you’re missing anything in that area. If you get every item in every area you will get every one of these trophies as well as every other collectable trophy.

If you'd like to see which fruit you have already collected simply pause the game and then press R2 to view the Majin Stats.

NOTE: If you need any help finding any of the collectables please feel free to ask here, myself or someone else will probably be able to help. I don’t have the means to make any sort of video guide but if one pops up or someone else makes a guide I will gladly add it here and give them the credit. But like I’ve said several times now, the collectables in this game are NOT hard to find.

Miscellaneous Trophies

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/504/29.jpgMaster of the Majin (B)

Give the Majin more than 500 orders

During the game you will have to give the Majin orders for him to do certain things, whether it be to open a door, to wait somewhere, to attack an enemy, etc.

Simply do any of these 500 times throughout the game and this trophy will unlock. This shouldn’t be too hard to get as you’ll be telling him what to do quite often. But if you want to get it quickly or are near the end of the game and it hasn’t popped yet, you can just find a safe area and keep pressing :cross: for him to wait and then :triangle: for him to follow over and over again until the trophy unlocks.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/504/29.jpgMajin Healer (B)

Feed the Majin over 10 Blue Fruit

While playing the game and exploring it's areas you’ll find flowers that are shining blue. You can pick a small blue fruit from these flowers and feed it to the Majin to heal him. You can only carry five at a time, but you will see far more than ten throughout the course of the game and they also respawn over time. Feed the Majin ten of these fruit and the trophy will unlock. This will probably come without trying for it, unless your Majin NEVER takes damage.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/504/29.jpgImmortal Man (B)

Have the Majin revive you 3 times

If you die during combat there will be a brief period before you get the game over screen. During this time if the Majin is close by and not incapacitated in some way himself he will come over and begin to heal you like he does outside of battle if you just stand still near him. After he does this for a few seconds you will revive and be able to continue fighting. Once the Majin does this three times the trophy will unlock. This will probably happen while playing regularly but if you NEVER die, then simply die on purpose when the Majin is near you to get this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/504/29.jpgChatterbox (B)

Talk to the Majin 100 times

In order to talk to the Majin you need to be standing beside him and press :circle:. Do this 100 times to unlock this trophy. You can take your time doing this as he will have different things to say to you throughout the game or if you just want to get it quickly just keep talking to him over and over again until the trophy pops.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/504/29.jpgOne Enthralled by Darkness (B)

Become ‘haunted by darkness’ 10 times

Later in the game you will start to encounter enemies with tentacle-like arms that perform whip attacks on you, normally when their attack hits it covers you in a "black goo" that slows your movement. You'll know this when it happens as the game will prompt you to shake the left analog stick to break free. Have this happen 10 times for the trophy to unlock. You will fight a lot of these enemy types throughout the game so no need to try too hard for this one as it will probably unlock while just playing the game normally.

I had to play through the game again to test the requirements for this trophy as the description is quite vague but I'd still like to thank Mitsuru Kirijo and Absolution05 for helping me try and figure this one out.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/504/30.jpgMajin Knight (S)

Help the Majin out when he’s in trouble 30 times

There are two enemies in the game that can grab hold of or jump onto the Majin, when this happens, his health will start to drain and he will call to you for help. Simply attack the enemy that is hurting the Majin to knock him away for it to count towards this trophy. The first enemy that you’ll encounter that does this is the “dog like” creature that alerts other enemies to your presence. They will jump onto the Majin’s back where you can then knock them off. The other enemy that does this is a phantom/ghost like enemy that shoots out a blue aura at the Majin that traps him and begins draining his health. Again, simply hit this enemy to stop it.

Once you do this thirty times the trophy will unlock. When fighting these enemies in the game I would usually not attack them at first to make sure they would do this to the Majin atleast once or twice before we killed them. Doing it this way you should have no problem getting this before the end of the game as there are quite of few of these enemy types.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/504/42.jpgBrave One (G)

Raise Friendship level and Tepeu’s level to max

Alright, this is going to be the biggest grind in the game, but even then it’s not too bad. In order to get this trophy you have to get Tepeu to his max level which is 31 and you have to get his friendship level with the Majin to max which is 21. By the end of the game I only had Tepeu at level 26 and the friendship level at 14 and I expect most people to be around the same as I fought every single enemy I came across.

Anyway, you level up Tepeu by collecting the life shards (blue orbs) that enemies drop when they’re defeated and you level up friendship by collecting the friendship shards (red orbs) that enemies drop when combination attacks or finish attacks are performed. You can check your current levels and the experience required to level up at any time by pausing the game and checking the Hero Status screen.

The best place to grind out this trophy (and the others that I referred to here) without having to wander all over the place looking for fights is the same place in the video I posted for the Battle Master trophy. Once you first enter this area and defeat the enemies in it, every time you go back here seven new enemies will continue to respawn there just as seen in the video. Defeat them, then run up the stair case and proceed down the right hallway until you enter the next room, look to your left and you will see another group of six enemies that you can farm kills on, defeat them and then go back the way you came, the original seven enemies will have respawned by now so fight them again. Do this over and over again until you get to max level. If you prefer to just stay in the first spot rather than running back and forth, another method to get the enemies to quickly respawn is to head to the the nearest save point change your costume and then exit. This respawns enemies immediately. Thanks to Aramintai for the tip.

By this point you probably have all the costume sets, luckily there are some pieces you can wear to help this process go a little quicker. The Bandit's Costume increases the amount of friendship shards that appear after a combination attack and the Bandit's Wristguard increases the amount of life shards that appear after a combination attack. Thanks to Mitsuru Kirijo for pointing this out.

While grinding experience here you can also be trying for any or all of the combat related trophies that you may have missed. There is also a couple save points nearby as well as some blue fruit to heal the Majin if needed. This might take a while depending on what levels you start doing it at, but I found it to be the quickest way to get it done and definitely the best place to grind for kills too.

Thanks a lot to Xan for originally pointing, myself and other users here, to this location in another thread.

Go to the true ending

In order to get the true ending you must have obtained all of the collectables in the game before defeating the final boss, which means you needed to have found all the treasure chests, all the fruit for the Majin, all the costume sets and all of the memory shards. If you have all of these things and beat the game you will get the true ending and this trophy will unlock after the credits have ended.

One Enthralled by Darkness is not unlocked simply by walking through the puddles of black goo and getting slowed down - I had both the Majin and Tepeu each walk through well over 30 puddles in different settings and the trophy didn't unlock. Where it did unlock was late in the game, in the area with a room-sized puddle of goo - I fell in, got stuck, and got attacked repeatedly, and then the trophy unlocked. This would lead me to believe that you either have to be attacked 10 times by the tentacle monsters that are in that room, or (more likely) that you need to be attacked 10 times while you're in the state caused by the black goo.

On a side note, it might be worth mentioning (though it shouldn't really be necessary), that there are a couple of costume choices for Tepeu that increase the number of both blue and red gems gathered from defeated enemies which can help somewhat when trying to grind out the levels for the Brave One trophy.

O, and good work on the guide.

Thanks for the info! I really wish I could remember exactly what happened when my Enthralled by Darkness trophy popped. All I could remember is what I wrote in the guide and then compared that to a few other peoples posts, chances are I did get hit afterwards but never considered that as being part of the requirements. As far as the tentacle/whip monster goes, he should of been added to my guide to begin with, I forgot his attacks had the same effect on you as the puddles.

I've been looking online for some definitive explanation on how to get it but for now I'll go by what you've said and change the guide accordingly. Anyone else here remember how they got it? Really wish the description for the trophy wasn't so vague on what it exactly wants you to do.

Also, I'll toss the game into my PS3 later and grab the names of those two costumes you mentioned. I completely forgot about those and that should definitely be in the guide as they should cut down on time wasted grinding...wish I had remembered to use them

Anyway, thanks again!

Is there a way to get quickly change from day to night? I'm trying to get these memory shards as I go along, but it's really annoying to have to wait the game to change from day to night.

No unfortunately there is no way to quickly change from day to night or night to day. Atleast not that I found, which does make finding the shards a little bit annoying.

There were a few times when I'd just skip a shard or two and move ahead to the next area if night wasn't coming anytime soon. Once I was done exploring the next area(s), it would have usually turned back to night or atleast been pretty close, then I would just quickly run back and grab the one or two I skipped. This usually doesn't take too long to do. There were also times when I would just put the controller down and wait for a few minutes until it changed to night, then I'd grab the shard and move on.

I never really mentioned the day/night cycle in detail anywhere in the guide. I suppose I should add that.

Yippee! Thanks for the guide. The descriptions are easy to understand, everything's set up nicely, but... almost all of them are paragraphs >;|

Still good, tho.

Also thanks for helping us [the readers] realize how manageable the game/plat is ^^;

Your welcome! Glad it's helping.

I did notice that some of my descriptions were a little long and I actually left out some very minor details here and there because of this but I did want it to be as informative as possible to make this an easy platinum.

Anyway, thanks for the kind words! :)

Alright, so I found this video on Youtube where he states that he's showing a quick way to get the Enthralled by Darkness trophy, only problem is he doesn't show himself get hit 10 times and it doesn't show the trophy pop. But it goes along the lines of what Mitsuru Kirijo suggested above. Here is the video:

Anyone here playing this game that has yet to get this trophy want to test this out? Just keep getting hit by one of these monsters and see if the trophy pops. If someone can confirm this for me I can finish up my guide, credit will go to you of course for helping me out. Otherwise, I'll start up a new game this weekend and try to test it myself.

If you still need confirmation I just got the trophy while fighting one of the tenticle enemies, and I've never even seen one of the puddles that slow you down. So it does seem to apply to getting wrapped up in their attack.

I think the key here might be the "wrapped up" part. Obviously, I already have the trophy, and I'm not going to restart the game on a separate account just to test this out, but something I noticed was that the tentacle-monsters earlier in the game would just hit me, whereas the tentacle-monsters later in the game (specifically in the Crystal Palace room where I got the trophy) would actually wrap their tentacle around me, pick me up, and throw me to another part of the room, and it might be that specific attack that unlocks the trophy (although, I should point out that each time I got "wrapped up" I was in a state of slow-down from the puddles, so...take it for what it's worth).

I have to say I actually laughed at that 27 second video the guide-maker posted: is that really the whole video? Why would anyone post something like that without actually showing the trophy unlock, or providing any context or instructions on how to unlock the trophy? Pretty weird, if you ask me (not that anyone did).

Yeah its definitely not from just getting attacked by them. I think it has to be their attack that binds you. Just getting slapped in the face doesn't really constitute being 'enthralled.' Although I should mention that I'm not yet at that part of the game where the tentacle enemies have added that throwing attack.

However, we could all be wrong and it could apply to taking a certain amount of damage (not dying though) ten times seeing as you are progressively covered in darkness the more damage you take.

I can actually confirm that it's not related to damage. The trophy description is so vague that, once I realized you get covered in darkness as you take damage, I purposely let myself be attacked until I was completely covered, my eyes were glowing red, and the weird flickering death-mask appeared on my face, and then I would run to the Majin for healing; I did this probably twenty times in a row without the trophy unlocking, so I realized that wasn't the way to go.

The reason I'm not sure whether it's unlocked by being attacked while slowed down or by being wrapped up by a tentacle-monster is because both of those things happened repeatedly prior to the trophy unlocking, and both things were happening simultaneously when the trophy did unlock.
