Introduction

Madagascar 3 is the video game based on the new movie of the same title. The plot of the game revolves around the animals of Madagascar working in the circus in order to get themselves back home to New York City. Throughout the game, they visit various locals throughout Europe and go on adventures in the cities in an attempt to promote the circus later on, as well as put on the circus show of their lives. The game itself is very basic as it is a family/kids type game and includes a mixture of platforming, racing, & mini-game type events. The hardest trophies in the game are the ones that are collectible related as there are 195 items you need to find for each of the 4 playable characters, although most of them are extremely easy to find.

Walkthrough

Step #1: Play Story Mode

You will get the majority of the trophies just by playing Story Mode, so that's where you should start out. While playing through Story Mode, make sure you aim at trying to 5 star all the city events and circus acts in each city, as well as collect all the Scrap Wood required in each location. You don't have to worry about the character's collectibles during this run as you'll need to replay the locations in free roam to get them all afterwards since all the characters are not available in each area during this run.

Step #2: 5 Star City Events & Circus Act Clean-Up Run

If you are missing 5 stars on any of the city events or circus acts, now is the time to go back and complete these now. In the main circus tent (main menu type screen), select Missions -> Replay to access the city events or the circus tent to get to the various circus events. After selecting each city, it will show you what your ratings are on each of the events/acts so you know what you still have to get the 5 stars on.

Step #3: Collectibles Free Roam Clean-Up

After Step #2, you should only have the 4 collectible trophies (The Ultimate Showman!, Circus Beauty!, A Real Blast! & A Rare Sight!) and the Platinum (If you are missing any other ones, make sure to go back and clean those up now). From the main tent (main menu type screen), go to Mission -> Free Roam and select the desired city and location you want to go after and obtain all the collectibles from that area, then rinse and repeat with the rest. After you obtain the last collectible for the last character, you should have all the trophies and your much deserved Platinum trophy as well!

Get 5 Stars on All City Events

The city events are mini-game type events that appear in between the normal stages. Each city has different types, but most are short little timed events (races, pickup collectibles etc). At the end of each of them, you will receive a "star" rating depending on how you did. You must get a 5 star rating in every event of that city to receive the trophy for it. If you miss getting 5 stars in any of the events in a city, you can select them in the main tent at the Mission board (has a map above it). At the mission board, it will show you how many stars you got in each event so you will know what you still have to get in each city. Once you get a 5 star rating on every city event in every area, this trophy will pop!

Tips On Getting 5 Stars In City Events:

* When doing collection events, search around the levels for where the clocks are and try to plot out the best possible paths to get items and also the clocks to add more time for you to get things

* Always be on the look out for non-balloon item collectible items during the events (that include them). The banners will give you 5 points each and the box of fireworks are worth 10, so these will definitely help boost your score quickly towards a higher ranking

* For the mailbox delivery missions, make sure you keep moving and are in front of a mailbox before hitting :circle: to deliver the letter as if you aren't, you'll just do your :circle: character action and that will eat up valuable time.

* For the chase ones, use the above mentioned methods of getting the non-balloon collectibles during it, but also make sure that you avoid as many boxes/traps/puddles as you can as these will slow you down or make it so you can't jump which will definitely hinder your ability to get points as most of the banners & fireworks boxes are above crates that you will need to jump over to collect. Also, keep an eye on your location to Dubois meter in the bottom. Each time you hit a trap/box, you fall back a step and if you do it four times, she will catch you and end the chase, causing you to restart. Look for sombrero's (at least that's what they look like to me) to help you speed up and gain a level back.

Find All the Scrap Wood Skipper Needs

In each city, you will have to find 15 pieces of Scrap Wood. You can find these laying around like collectibles or by breaking boxes. There is WAY more than 15 pieces per city, so this is extremely easy to do. Please note, that you only have to find 15 for the entire CITY, not each level in the city, so you can do it across all 3 levels in each city. You can check you progress from the pause menu to see how many you have already. Once you get all the wood required in each city, the trophy will pop!

Find Mort in Rome

In the second stage (not running mini-game in between levels), head to the area where there is a fountain in the middle of a large area. On the right hand side there you will see some steps that lead up into an archway. Enter the archway there and turn left, then head down until you reach an alley on your left. Head down it to the end and you will see a wooden box there. Mort is hiding behind the box there. You will know you are in the correct general area as you will hear Mort laughing and taunting you. After you find him, the trophy will pop!

At the very start of the 1st Pisa level, look directly at the blackboard starting location and turn right. You will see an archway in the side of a building that is the entrance to a tunnel. Follow that tunnel down until the end, then turn right and head down until you reach another alley on your left. Go down that alley and he will be behind the steel reinforced wooden crate there.

Find Mort in Paris

During the mission where you have to get a Cowboy Statue for Skipper, start at the blackboard and head down the street to your right there (if looking at the blackboard). As you go down the street you will hear Mort start laughing and you will see a poster spot on a wall with a street to it's left, head down there. At the end of that short street, curve right, then turn left again at the very first street. Go all the way until you reach the buildings on the other side, then turn right. On your left side there will be an entrance into a little side entrance. He is hiding in there behind some boxes.

In the very first mission, go right from the blackboard (if looking at it) and follow the street all the way down and under the archway. Continue down the street until you see a phone booth on your right (there's also a neon ice cream cone next to it), then turn left down the street there. At the end of that short street you will see another phone booth on your left and an alleyway next to it. Mort is dancing around in that alleyway.

Find all 195 Thermometers For Melman

There are a total of 13 different areas in the game throughout the different cities where you can find collectibles (15 in each one). You can only collect a characters collectible with that character, which means you will need to go back after finishing the game in free roam to collect ones you are missing as not every character is playable during the story mode in each area. Almost all the collectibles are out in the open and easy to see, but some are hidden so make sure you look everywhere, especially areas designed for each characters special abilities.

Examples:

Gloria: She can swim underwater so a lot of her flowers are underwater in the canals and fountains. She can also tightrope walk so look for any tightropes above you for help finding other hidden ones.

Melman: He can tightrope walk and there are a bunch that will require you to use that skill to either reach them in the middle of the tightrope or on the other side of it.

Marty: He uses cannons to launch himself out of and there are few of his balloons which are in the pathways of these cannons. He can also launch himself off small ramps and you can use these to reach the tops of other areas where some of his collectibles are located.

Alex: He can double jump and reach some areas others can't, so make sure to look for areas he can climb or jump across with his skill as there are a bunch of his located on tops of buildings and other locations.

You can see how you are doing in each area by pausing the game as it will give you a XX/15 count for that area. Once you obtain all 195 items for your character, the trophy will pop!

When you are in the main tent (where you can select what to do), go to the mirror with the gear above it (Extras). Select promotions and enter the following code:

Grape/Apple/Grape/Strawberry

This will unlock the Banana race for Rome. After you unlock it, select it from either the Extras or Mission menu and play through it. Just run through the city collecting as many bananas as possible to get the highest score you can. It's not that difficult to get the 5 stars on it as there are a TON of bananas around, so you shouldn't have a problem. Once you finish the Banana race with 5 stars, the trophy will pop!

"Circus Acts" Trophies

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1512/CA2.jpg Ticket to Adventure! http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Get 5 Stars in any Ticket Sales

The "Ticket Sales" circus act is where you have to sell customers tickets by playing a button pressing game. The tickets will be labelled by different fruits and each fruit will have a button assigned to it. Customers will come up and ask to purchase a set of tickets and you must hit the correct buttons in the order of their request.

After a little while of filling orders, there will be a break in the game where you have to do a "mango mash" where you have to hit the :cross: button as fast as you can to fill your meter before your opponent. If you do, it will cause your opponent to get doused in Mango's and stop him from selling tickets for a short period.

The goal is to sell as many tickets as possible in order to get 5 stars on the circus act. As you progress through the different circus locations, the acts get harder as they add fruit/buttons to the list. It's best to memorize what fruit goes with what button so you can sell as fast as possible. If you forget what button goes with which fruit, there will be a box in the lower right corner with them in it. The easiest location to get this is in ROME as you only have 2 fruits/buttons you have to worry about. After you complete the circus act and get 5 stars on it, the trophy will pop!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1512/917.jpg Boss of the Toss http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Get 5 Stars in any Snack Toss

This one is similar to the ticket selling circus act as you have to throw fruit to audience members who are requesting it. Each fruit will be assigned to a specific button and you will have to run back and forth along the floor, get in front of the audience member requesting something and push the proper button to throw it to them. Keep moving and throwing the correct fruit to the audience members to raise your score. The easiest place to get this trophy is in ROME as there are only 2 fruits/buttons to deal with there. If you are struggling to get a high enough score you can also put it on 2-players and just have the second player stand there so you can get all the audience members for yourself. After you finish the act and obtained 5 stars in it, the trophy will pop!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1512/BB3.jpg A Sure Hit! http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Get 5 Stars in any Cannonball Act

In "Cannonball Act", you will be fired out of a cannon towards trampoline bullseyes. While you are flying through the air towards them, there will be balls in the air that you can collect to increase your score, so make sure you move yourself around to collect as many as possible. Make sure you hit each trampoline so it bounces you back in another direction and keeps you airborne to collect more balls. At the end, you will land on a bullseye type mat. The easiest place to get this is in ROME as the score requirement seems to be the lowest there. After you landed and achieved 5 stars for it, you will get the trophy!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1512/6CA.jpg 3 Rings of Fun! http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Get 5 Stars in any Flaming Rings Act

There are two different options for this one. You can play as either Vitaly or Julien as each have their separate mini-game type things to do in it.

Playing as Vitaly, you have to jump through the flaming hoops. You do this by holding down the :cross: button and then releasing it to jump through the hoops. You must time your jumps well though so you make it through the hoop. If you miss or hit the edges of the hoop, you get no points at all.

Playing as Julien (Highly suggested if going after the 5 stars), you have to do a drum roll and then cymbal crash while Vitaly is doing his jumps. Once Vitaly crouches down to ready his jump, you must start hitting :cross: rapidly. When Vitaly jumps through the hoops (or attempts to), you must hit :circle: to hit the cymbal. The nice thing about Julien is that even if Vitaly misses the hoop or doesn't jump through it properly, if you hit the cymbal correctly, you still get points.

As I said above, I would suggest playing as Julien for any 5 star attempts, but it's up to you. The easiest place to get this would be ROME as the point requirements seem to be the lowest. Once you finish the act with 5 stars, the trophy will pop!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1512/C94.jpg High Wire Highness http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Get 5 Stars in any High Wire Act

With the "High Wire" act, you must cross the High Wire faster than your opponent for the highest score. You use the left analogue stick to move across the rope, as well as :circle: to duck incoming projectiles (fruit) and :cross: to jump to avoid things (Mort running across, your opponent crossing) as well as to pick up balls above the High Wire (they give you points). You will also have to avoid swinging bars that cross over the High Wire, so make sure to time them properly and run past them when they swing by you. The faster you get to the other side, the more bonus time points you will get as well, so move as quickly and carefully as possible. Once you finish the act with 5 stars, the trophy will pop!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1512/CD2.jpg A Proper Send-Off http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Get 5 Stars in any Trapeze Act

In "Trapeze", you will be going against an opponent to collect as many balls as you can while jumping off Trapeze bars and the net below you. Once you grab hold of a Trapeze bar, you can jump of it by pressing the :cross: button. You need to time your jumps to get the maximum height to be able to get the most amount of balls. You can also grab hold of your opponent if they are swinging on a trapeze bar by pressing :square:. By doing this, you will get even extra height when jumping off. The higher you go, the higher the ball points are worth. The easiest way to get this is to do a 2-player game and have the second player get nothing while you clean up most of the lower balls, then for the ones that require you to jump off your opponent, have him move up to the higher Trapeze bars and then just grab him and jump off to get the rest. Once you finish the Trapeze act with 5 stars, the trophy will pop!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1512/A71.jpg Biggest Star Under the Big Top! http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png

Get 5 Stars in each Circus Act

You must get 5 stars in each of the 6 circus acts: Ticket Sales, Snack Toss, Cannon Ball, Flaming Rings, High Wire & Trapeze. They do not have to be all done on the same circus, just obtain a 5 star on each act in any of the cities. With that being said, the easiest location to get this in is ROME as the acts are the easiest there. Once you get 5 stars in each of the different circus acts, the trophy will pop!

You can obtain this by either 5 staring all the acts in Story Mode or by selecting the Circus Act tent in the main menu tent (use this if you got less than 5 stars during any of the story mode ones). Once you get 5 stars in each of the different circus acts for that city, the trophy will pop!

Cool. Thanks for the guide. It's nice to see it's only a 2/10 difficulty. I wonder if my video rental store might have a copy. If so I'll rent it soon.

That's my estimate, it might vary by person. The only really hard trophies in the game are the collectible related ones for each character as finding that last one in each level might take some time, but none of them are too difficult to find in general with a little searching.

Im stuck at Pisa. Where i have to get the Ironing board. After a few jumps. There is a jump for Marty that will end in the water, and 1 dancingcord that brings gloria on a climber. What to do there?

Gloria has to release a gondolla so it floats over to the spot where Marty lands. I believe you have to go underwater with Gloria to release it, but I'm not 100% positive on that, although I know she has to do release it to so he lands on it and completes the level.

i think 8 and 10 hours is wrong lol. its defo more time to plat. even if u do everything first try u easily get 8 hours and then u need to clean up with collectibles. it took me 20 hours but i know im slower at most games so someone whos faster could do it in 12 to 15 hours hours but 8 and 10 is just not correct. but thats my opinion. i even think the 8 hours u see on ygc are hacked times. but if someone did plat this legit in 8 hours im curious how he did do it because i didnt find a collectible guide nowhere and there is 1 area where the collectibles are a real pain. i think the first area in london

I have to agree. I'm still working through the collectables and have to be in the 15-20 hour range at this point, I'll probably finish at around 20-25 hours.

It's an easy enough (P) but I'll be damned if this isn't one of the slowest, most boring and arduous kids' games I've ever played.

Is it worth 39.99$ on the PSN Store ? Or should I get the 4 God of wars instead for 35$ ?

In my opinion, no it is not worth that much. in fact I would rent it unless you have kids that might get some use out of the game afterwards - GOW much better use of money.

Thanks for the guide on this!!

not at all dude... go for GoW DEFO!

I recommend to rent or buy this one physically and once you (P) it trade it for another game like I did, i just trade it for Spec Ops: The Line! :D

is there any glitches in the collectables?

i only ask as i spent an hour yesterday trying to find 1 of glorias flowers in rome section 2. its the only one i cant find and ive been everywhere!

i refuse to continue with the rest of the game if i cant find it as if it is a glitch and i have to start over then its only the first area of rome and the tutorials id have to do again.

a guide for hard collectables is needed.

I think the one you are missing is underwater. After you blow some bubbles in order to levitate two barrels and proceed to the next section, just look up and there will be a lonely flower floating near the ceiling. At least this one was a pain for me to find out, hope this will help your hunt.
